Is Mitch the Right Guy?

257

Let’s hear arguments as to why Mitch is the best we can do to lead this elite baseball program. I don’t want to hear arguments about his salary. He’s not the right guy because he’s cheap. That is a horrible argument. Please don’t present it.

My stance is he’s a poor in-game manager, uninspiring personality, likes to play father figure yet he doesn’t seem authentic in doing it (it’s like he’s saying the right things but it falls flat), believes he’s a sports psychologist, and overthinks things. None of this changed this year due to his record. I saw all the same problems, only the team won more games in spite of them. Joe Maddon’s teams always had this trait, too. Good players can trump these problems, especially if they have good on the field leadership from the players and/or talent mismatches. The Cubs had both. The Beavs had a talent mismatch in most games.

I don’t want convoluted arguments how the Beavs don’t have talent, either. Not going to listen to any ad hominem arguments that attack me, either. What would be good arguments or evidence would be something like players themselves saying Mitch was a great leader, inspired them, made great in-game decisions, etc. Interviews or post-games with Mitch where he’s (a) awake and (b) inspiring and (c) explains seemingly poor decisions in ways that make sense, in retrospect, could be good, too. I’ve never seen anything like that, but maybe it’s out there.

I have near zero confidence in this guy. The team had a good record, but they never really looked good or inspired doing it. Contrarily, Auburn had a fire in their eyes last night. I knew they were going to win that game because they looked like a determined team with heart and fight, and so did their coach.

Corvallis Regional: Oregon State/New Mexico State (Vandy et al)

This is a pretty easy draw. Vandy with a good RPI but none of the teams are top 25 ranked. UCLA rematch very possible.

Better not choke, Miiiiiitch…

Go Beavs!

Well, somehow the Pat Casey Head Baseball coach has gotten the Beavs into the PAC Tourney. What of it? A chance to rebuild momentum? A historical opportunity to win another banner? A possible 6th game vs quacks?

The tourney schedule is linked below, who do you want to see matched against the Beavs? What should the rotation and overall strategy be? Who should be given AB’s to get ready for the NCAA’s?

GO BEAVS!  (leave the black jerseys at home)

Miiiiiitch…………….!

Time to get back on track, boys. Final tuneup. Final chance to be playing their best ball at the right time. I’m concerned this team might be too inexperienced to handle the mental pressure that’s building. We shall see.

Go Beavs.
