If Gebbia can’t go, and it’s looking that way, would you rather see Noyer or Nolan start?

From what I’ve seen of Noyer, he has better leadership skills than Nolan. Nolan has the advantage of knowing the offense better. Both seem equally good runners, but Noyer looks a bit thicker in the lower half and like he could maybe break some tackles. He also seems fearless, like a guy who would dive for first downs, etc.

Noyer seems the slightly better pick, but it’s a question of how much Nolan’s experience matters. Lindgren said that Noyer is making mistakes in practice, and he attributed those to not knowing the system yet and/or being hesitant.

This is a tough call. I’d probably give Noyer the slight lean, but I’m not confident in the pick. Hopefully Gebbia can return this weekend and make it all moot.

Saturday’s scrimmage should give insight into the depth chart and player progress. We’ll finally get to see the action rather than read about it, which will allow us to further refine our opinions. Right now we’re mostly going off last year and reporters.

As mentioned in the prior thread, feel free to email me facts, opinions, and observations if you’re going to the scrimmage. I can aggregate it all and make a post-scrimmage thread if there’s enough good stuff.

It looks like you guys are going to get some incredible quasi-Fall (75 high with mixed skies) weather. Enjoy if you’re lucky enough to go.

The scrimmage today is closed, but they announced the scrimmage next weekend will be open to the public.

O-live has an article up how Musgrave will be the next 1,000 yard receiving TE at OSU. O-live also pointed out Harrison as a standout from yesterday’s practice. Very good to hear, along with Gebbia out performing Noyer so far. All good stuff.

I’ll keep this thread up through the week and make a new one for next week’s open scrimmage.

Below is my depth chart. I think it’s the best team we can field. Bold names are guys who are primed to move up the depth chart in camp and/or guys I prefer over the mainstream, consensus pick for that position.

Offense:

QB: Gebbia, Noyer
RB: Fenwick (Baylor as pass catcher, but Lowe should make a move here).
WR: Harrison, Beason, Bradford (Dunmore needs to play, so 4WR sets and/or subbing him in often). Tongue in the same boat. Lindsey is still in the mix with an attitude adjustment and consistent hands.
TE: Overman (Musgrave was a good prospect but hasn’t shown much, and Overman is a potential beast. If he has a good camp, start him). Either guy is an offensive upgrade.
C: Eldridge
OT: Kipper, Gray
OG: Keobounnam, Levengood

Defense:

DT: Schad, Skelton
DE: Hodgins, Sandberg, Lolohea, Shippen, Reichner (Lolohea could be a breakout)
ILB: Roberts, Speights
OLB: Gumbs, Sharp, Hughes-Murray, McCartan (note: Gumbs likely gets hurt again). Kady a guy to watch in camp.
S: Julian, Grant, Arnold (huge fan of Julian thinks he makes a big difference).
CB: Wright, Jones, Grant (Jones will be interesting could be very good).

Special Teams:

PK: Hayes
PR: Bradford
KR: Lindsey
