  1. Heavy, Delva does not rotate hips smoothly or quickly out of his backpedal when covering receivers; receivers with even moderate speed seem to separate from him quickly on their routes; when throwing the ball, Delva does an excellent job of going through his progressions, but delivery could be more compact; not fleet of foot, but an absolute bear to bring down. Good distance on his kickoffs, with many balls flattened or sailing through the end zone for touchbacks. Erratic field goal kicker, nailing only 18% inside 30 yards.

  2. I think he is very good at changing the direction of any given play. It looks like the O-line keys on him just to not let him loose, but he still disrupts the play by just getting everyone in the way of the play. And when he’s let loose, I wouldn’t want him to run after me. He has a lot of really nice, quick moves to shed the initial block. It looks like he’s quick enough to get in the backfield a lot, but some of those plays have O-linemen falling on his legs while he sheds the initial block… almost an intentional chop designed to not look like a chop. His bull rush doesn’t do anything, but he’s also not moved by the same blockers.

    • Your assessment kind of fits Angry’s comment about a pass-rushing DT, which I think would be great in the rotation.

If all of these guys show up – on campus and game days – OSU can develop an “Unleash the Beasts” package of D-lineman; Chricton, Delva/Hautau, Peko/Tulimasealii, – which should free up Wynn – could be scary. They might get an effective rush without even sending LBs.

  3. I like his athleticism for the position. Definitely expect him to step in and contribute right away since the DT position has kind of been a question mark each season since Paea left.

  4. I love this type of analysis, because I am just not very good at looking film. Everybody looks good on film to me and I don’t pick up alot of subtlies you all bring.

I agree I think Peko is better, but I hope he gets in.

    • You really need to see players live, or watch entire game film. About all you can get from highlights are the subtlies from their game.

      • I have not heard any, in fact the recruits that have been targeted by other schools Haskiens, Villamin, and Hunt seem pretty firm with the Beavs. But one thing about recruiting is that nothing is a sure thing, even after they sign you still have to get some of them in school. We shall see. But I have not heard anything to your point.

  5. OT – Wheaton sells Trufant on a fake, but ball is thrown behind Wheaton:

Trufant pretty far off of Wheaton. Is it just me, or does Wheaton seem to have more swagger than he did on game days last year? Not that he was a wallflower, but he really seems to be showing up well at the senior bowl and playing aggressive.

You might have seen the link the other day where he “baited” Trufant so Trufant cut in line to face Wheaton, and Wheaton then beat him on a route.

Sounds like Wheaton will be moving up draft boards.

“C’mon now. That was a bad ball. I ate you up!”

  7. Sprague says announcement will come Monday and news is extremely good but still no word if it regards the beavs.

Also, beavs offer 2014 qb Kyle Allen today

      • Typo. Was trying to post using my wife’s iphone for the first time last night. Gotta say, the Samsung S phones are much better in my opinion. so much easier for internet browsing and typing.

Knees are a little sore today. Picked up a mild case of that flu thats going around. Why cant these things hit on weekdays instead of weekends?

    • He’s fucking with everyone. He hasn’t announced that it’s even about a sport. It’s probably something silly like he is having another kid. That’s his type of sense of humor.

  8. Interesting read involving our QB visitor. Tubberville is not only a douche bag, he is a stupid douche bag, My sister lives a few miles from Massillon. They have an INDOOR practice facility that is as nice if not nicer than Truax. Hope he signs and loves OSU. This could become a great in on the recruiting front.

  9. Here is some tape on this weekend visitors
Kyle Kempf 3star uncommitted QB (former Portlander)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmhH7JVxCGc

    Terin Solomon 3star S commit
    http://www.hudl.com/athlete/737844/highlights/16243377

Love this Hudl, very clear, good graphics, lot easier to watch, there’s a ton of film on Solomon. He looks real good to me. I think Safety is a big need and I like how aggressive they went after Solomon and Arnold. Outside of Murphy I don’t like our Safety’s right now and I think depth is major issue there. As far as QB goes, Kempf looks okay to me. Maybe he can develop into something great. I think with him they are just going after a QB because it is recommended to get one each class. Not a huge need. Personally, I don’t understand why they didn’t Zach Greenlee from Stockton, who was an Elite 11, but he didn’t get very many offers. He is committed to Fresno St and is visiting Miss St this weekend.

  10. I think he’s (Terin Solomon) enjoying the visit?

  11. Beavers up 33-29 at the half over the Cougars, Nelson with a three at the first half buzzer. Solid first half especially without Collier for about half of the first half. Holding WSU to 42% shooting and 1 of 9 from three. Motum hasn’t been much of a factor. They’ve played solid first halves and couldn’t sustain the energy and intensity in the 2nd half. Should be a good test today. Need to start out fast in the 2nd half and extend this lead.

  12. Like to see a win, but geez the apathy is so bad that I can’t find a live feed anywhere. Our Ukranian friends took it down. Also, I don’t know when KEX quit doing internet broadcasts of games, I think I have the P-12 network more and more each day!

  13. Officiating one sided yet again. Cougars have shot 8 free throws to 3 for the Beavers, OSU has been called for 13 fouls, just 7 for WSU.

  14. OSU has been called for 15 fouls in the game compared to 7 for WSU and Robinson has been given a T. Unreal how one sided things have been.

    • Unreal does not begin to describe it. People were throwing things at the refs they were so bad. It looked for a bit like an angry mob was going to storm the court it was so bad.

The play where Berto got mugged on the break then got the foul called on him was probably the most egregious call I’ve ever seen in the history of hoops. If I was Coach Rob, I would have been tossed from the game for the piece of mind I would have given that dick head. Every time I looked at the big board when FT’s were being taken, the only difference in the game was FT’s.

Beavs win this game by 15 if not for the refs. Bone had zero to do with this game.

  15. Looks like Bone schools CR again with better adjustments in the second half that ultimately have the Beavs playing from behind most of the second half. A couple of made free throws would have been nice.

    • More like Moreland and Nelson were in major foul trouble for most of the game and OSU went minutes without scoring cause 2 of their best 3 players had to keep leaving the game. That had far more impact on the game than any adjustment made. The Beavers needed Moreland inside to block some shots late in the game and for a lot of the 2nd half but he fouled out and that gave Washington State an advantage.

      • Not to mention Collier missing almost all of the first half due to two blatantly wrong charge calls, which really hurt the rebounding. I can remember at least 6 second chance points allowed in the first half while he was out.

      • Moreland fouled out with what 7 minutes left and that’s when they actually made their comeback. Not saying, he’s not crucial to the team, but Bone made easy adjustments to get Motum open in the second half and that was the story. Also, even though they shut down Motum in first half that other dude had a career high.

I think there’s enough data in now that given like talent, Bone is a better coach. This wasn’t anything like the end of the USC game, but still just enough to put Wazzu over the top.

        • Moreland also had to leave the game earlier in the half during WSU’s run with foul trouble. Nelson had to leave with 4 fouls. Collier had foul trouble in the first half that played a role in OSU not being able to extend its lead. Foul trouble had a big impact.

          • I think Robinson is a better recruiter but Bone is a better coach. Would be interesting to see what Bone could do with better talent

          • Yeah, my sentiment exactly. I can’t remember if BDC had a chance to get Bone or if the timing was off by a year. I think Bone left a little bit of a mess at PSU, but nobody pays any attention to Big Sky schools unless they upset someone in the big dance.

          • I am not saying that we would be better off with Bone instead of Robinson. All I know is Robinson is not the coach who is going to get us back to the tournament. At this point all Robinson is exactly the same as Jay John when it comes to coaching but Robinson is a better recruiter.

          • but I also did not watch the game today as I was fairly certain we were going to lose. I decided to take a nice long nap instead. Turned out to be a nice move on my part

  16. Angry, i think the blog has blocked my last 2 posts. probably because i linked to the scout forun thread where theyre criticizing you today.

  17. Well with just under 10 days left and a limited number of spots left in the class who can we get?

A full class of 25 is within reach, maybe more if some like Jermel Walker greyshirt?
#1 LJ Moore 4star CB – considering OU, ASU I say we miss out on him, my guess is OU, he is the best athlete on the board.
#2 Kieshawn Bierria 3star LB – flirting with UW, UO looking for an usc offer? I think we get him and we need help at LB.
#3 Edward Williams 3star LB – decommitted from Tex A&M and they wanted him to take a greyshirt. Looking at us and La Tech. I think he stays near home (he’s from New Orleans). Would love to have him we need help at LB, again.
#4 Tatum Taylor 3star WR – ASU and us. this is a toss up, his recruiting has been very quiet, he was supposed to announce last Monday and didn’t. He runs track so he wants to do both, and ultimately its his better sport. ASU has the best track program, but I think he wants to stay home. I say he signs with ASU
#5 Ofa Hautau 3star DT JC – his brother is already committed also looking at Hawaii, Utah St. I think grades are the issue here, might get an offer post signing day.

I think there maybe a few we don’t know about, last year we added garrett owens as a greyshirt who went to the same high school as two other commits Gavin Andrews and Brent Vanderveen. So, I can see something like that again. Based on sure numbers the one need out there I think is LB. I would like to see us get another OL, but I don’t know who that could be.

    • I should add
Corey Lawrence 3star LB from OK and Treshoun Broughton 3star CB from WA, would be great gets, but it doesn’t sound like they will qualify, and unlike in the past where they would sign those guys and then find out in the Summer if the qualify, they are taking a slightly more rigid approach this year.
