So we’ve got WSU up in another week, and then Utah.
Think I’m going to try and make Utah my next game to attend. Any suggestions if it’s better to sit on the old side so you can have a view of the new side in action? or better to sit on the new side and get the first hand experience?
Friday night game, should be a fun environment if they’re able to come into the game undefeated.
PAC2 in review. 2-0 vs ranked opponents on the year and only non conf left in the year vs ranked is USC and Stanford vs Notre Dame.
This week features no must see game. Nearly every team is favored by double digits. Only underdog is ASU vs Fresno. The only matchup that was projected to be a game was UW vs MSU but now that’s probably an easy win. Good chance the conference only has one loss this weekend.
Kind of means that the PAC12 champ will get a very serious look at the CFP. Even a 2 loss team would get consideration as long as they weren’t bad losses.
As for the Beavs, it means a much harder road to the top.
WSU – This trip got 100% harder. A good defense can hold WSU down. Wisc showed that but three fumbles did them in.
Utah – Again showed why good coaching matters when you don’t have your star QB. Still expect Rising to be back by OSU.
Cal – showed they don’t suck that bad. Still a very favorable matchup here
UCLA – Beavs get them after they play Utah and WSU. QB is good but he’s still a freshman who will make freshman mistakes. Especially on the road.
Arizona – QB is their big issue. Single handedly cost them the game. Beavs get them in a middle of a 7 game stretch vs all currently ranked teams.
Colorado – Most intriguing game, this team will be heavily scouted at this point and probably suffered a couple losses. But they are talented with the ability to boat race any team.
Stanford – Tough year to start a rebuild. Helps the top of conf if Stanford doesn’t win a game
UW – Passing offense is enough to overwhelm lesser opponents and get into boat races with the better teams. Doesn’t look like they’ll face a good defense until Utah in Nov.
Oregon – Pulled out a win. We’ll see what kind of team they really are when they play Colorado in two weeks (didn’t think I’d say that this year)
Beavs should have multiple tops 25 games as we go through the schedule, which should force them higher than 15-18 where they seem to be capped right now.
DJU has been in many big games at Clemson so he brings some important experience to the team as the games inevitably get bigger with bigger stakes.
Good breakdown of the future schedule after seeing each team play a bit.
College Gameday and Fox’s Big Noon kickoff both going to Boulder this weekend.
Wonder if Apple is paying attention to what’s happening in the PAC12. Hey technically no one has given formal notice to leave. Maybe they’ll up their offer (they won’t)
If anyone in attendance Saturday can share more about the game experience, I’d appreciate it. Food offerings improved? “Beaver Walk” add to the experience? Was the crowd loud, and did it seem louder with both sides done?
ZenBeaver had some interesting observations and comments on DJ’s throwing form and delivery (mostly arm, relatively poor follow through). I think the guy has such a solid foundation and strong arm, its easy for him to make the throws mostly all arm, and maybe he does need to improve complete follow through? As Jack pointed out, small sample size with only 13 passes, but I’m curious if anyone else sees any issue there? Going to be exciting to see DJ play this season.
Weather was perfect, lots of people tailgating, good energy in the air, game was sold out but quite a few empty seats in the upper corners on the east side stands (are those the traveling team allotment now?)
‘Beaver Street’ looked awesome, great site lines while waiting on queue or SRO/get your drinky on, downside is EVERYONE in the stadium was packed in there pregame, and I mean everyone. There were so many people we gave up trying to do the walk around. Apparently it was that way for a good portion of the game but finally loosened up according to a few people we talked to including people we were sitting with. Unfortunately didn’t get to test the wares, I was actually looking forward to that.
Seats I could see on the east side were thinning as the game went past halftime.
Bougie seats were cool but honestly I felt removed from the game feel… like I’ll have a better idea about energy and sound level from my normal folk seats.
Toured the new side after the game, it really is quite nice. Anyone that tries to poo poo the stadium is just sour grapes. I haven’t been to a lot of college staidiums but it honestly rivals some NFL stadiums I have been to, just on a smaller scale.
Stadium wasn’t as loud as it could get due to the opponent and score. Maybe the loudest crowd noise was booing the ref for scolding the sound guy. Utah game will be very loud.
Beaver Street is cool and yeah everyone was checking it out leaving a lot of empty seats esp when the game got out hand early.
I only noticed a few issues. The escalator went out at one point. One food place ran out of food (guess it was that good). Speakers were off, heard the announcers voice echo off the new side.
Saw this from Daschel and Clownzano:
“Plaintiffs attorney said one item agenda for Wednesdays board meeting would allow the conference to pay some of the transition costs for departing 10 schools.”
So we ALSO get to pay for them to leave? Fuck those entitled shitballs!
Basically, Pac-12 arguing that there have been no “formal” announcements of withdrawal and therefore the entire 12 team board is still intact. Lots of GK being painted as the victim. Sad.
PAC-12 is proposing an alternative in which “certain matters” will be the sole responsibility of OSU/WSU and that the others won’t interfere, but that they all need to be able to vote on more “pressing” matters that impact the current season/school year.
It’s either 1. the PAC12 broke their own by laws by excluding schools that announced their departures and every school still has voting rights or 2. the announcements equal a formal announcement and they no longer have voting rights. Judge needs to ask if there is formal paperwork for a school to leave the conference. Don’t think there is any precedent.
WSU/OSU could say USC, UCLA, Colorado didn’t argue their exclusions from meetings so that meant they considered their announcements formal notices as did the remaining schools at the time.
PAC12 offices pleading for jobs and not face their own consequences for GK’s horrible leadership. They are trying to fend off the reverse merger and obvious steps of ejecting most or all current PAC12 office employees, in order to be replaced by MWC personnel.
This bozo doesn’t realize he is actually making the point clear that the 10 departed on their own yet should have a role to play still, probably because they have have colluded with these front office bozos to provide cover/run interference for each other. None have the best interests of the actual conference in mind.
Apparently the traitorous ten are very concerned about pac employees, so much so, that they left the conference? And who is to say that 12 votes will be better able to make decisions about that staff, than just 2 entities?
Also suspicious that the conference reps could gather all kinds of information in less than 4 days for such a presentation, but easily drag their feet getting any requested info to OSU/WSU for how to assess what is possible for moving forward.
Judge grants the restraining order. But the conference reps continue to cry that they don’t get their way. Fear mongering and little appreciation for where all of this leaves OSU/WSU. Crazy…now asking for all conferences members to vote on issues…slimy lawyer from the conference offices. GK needs to be fired asap if that guy is his voice.
conference attorney made the point that “some” schools made the argument about “formal announcement” leaving. Plaintiff counsel made a good point that the proposed board meeting would be the first for SC and UCLA in 14 months. Even more damaging to their argument, Colorado wanted to continue to vote after leaving and the remaining nine told them the by laws prevented it. OSU attorney who had the lead for plaintiffs said the last 8 to leave had a “front row seat” on that discussion.
Concur that the main point of the defendant’s counsel was how hard WSU and OSU were making it for George to manage day to day affairs.
Biggest piece was a letter sent to Colorado stating they had lost their board voting rights when they announced they were leaving. Pretty much states OSU/WSU’s case.
concur. the killer argument by the OSU attorney was that that 7 of the remaining 9 (who now wish to leave) had a “front row seat” in telling the Buffs they could not vote anymore
TRO upheld, no board meetings to be held until it is determined who exactly constitutes the board, but PAC can operate normal business decisions. Can approve action if all 12 schools agree unanimously.
To me it did seem like the PAC12 was more concerned about the employee retention than anything else. WSU/OSU realized what doors could open with a 12 school meeting and made sure none of that could happen.
Wonder if any schools will really protest? They are losing the PR battle badly.
Why all of the sudden concern for employees at this point? Shady AF. They all left, OSU and Wazzu employee plenty of people, I’m sure they can manage a few more without 10 extra grubby hands grabbing at the bag.
Sounds like it’s more for the staff that run the day to day operations and producing the rest of the year’s content. That I can get on board with. Make sure there are no staffing shortages to produce the rest of the year’s sports broadcasts.
Then once the future of the conf is decided, they’ll know if the pac12 networks will survive. But all the execs are definitely getting fired.
All the Pac-12 staff that actually do the work of running things are trying to jump to other jobs and they need to try and keep as many as they can so they can operate this year.
The trouble now seems to be there’s no clear next step. Conference leaders can’t meet in an official capacity, but that actually harms 2PAC the most because the T10 can just sit around and eventually leave, whereas 2P needs to know where all the assets stand. I could foresee T10 playing the waiting game to eventually try to force a settlement from 2P.
What is the legal mechanism to force T10 to recognize they aren’t part of the board, thus allowing 2P to carry on with conference business?
TRO was step 1. Next step is to determine who is on board. That should be settled in next month. WSU and OSU have asked for the courts to confirm they’re assertion that bylaws state they are only voting members
I still think money is going to come from somewhere and OSU/WSU “suddenly” get B12 invites and it all goes away. MWC is just not a good conference, sort of ironic that MWC is going through one of its worst-ever football periods and P-12 one of its best. Luck O’ The Beavs as always.
The whole notion that members could make decisions clearly not in the interest of the Conference’s health and viability, so that they could go off and profit separately after, is absurd.
OSU and WSU should modify PAC logos (field, helmet stickers, etc.) to “PAC 2” for their game in Pullman, just vote to do it before the game. “It was unanimous, 2-0.”
And how crazy is it Brenda Tracy was “frozen for several minutes” while Mel Tucker spanked Lil’ Sparty?
“According to her complaint, Tracy sat frozen for several minutes while Tucker made sexual comments about her and masturbated.”
Umm, hang up?
In his statements to the Title IX investigator, Tucker acknowledged masturbating on the call but said Tracy grossly mischaracterized the episode. According to him, they had consensual “phone sex.”
“Ms. Tracy’s distortion of our mutually consensual and intimate relationship into allegations of sexual exploitation has really affected me,” Tucker wrote in a March 22 letter to the investigator. “I am not proud of my judgment and I am having difficulty forgiving myself for getting into this situation, but I did not engage in misconduct by any definition.”
I think everyone that has paid attention knew she was a grifter and she thought she would never get exposed. Got a feeling that her grift is about to be over and she won’t be heard from again for a while.
I find it sort of interesting that Canzano hasn’t done one of his 5-page editorials defending Brenda Tracy yet. Maybe it’s still coming, but this seems more like the problems of a couple of messed up adults than anything to do with college sports.
Maybe Canzano is scared she’ll pull some type of similar shit with him when the time is right?
She’s officially toxic and nobody will want to have her on campus again
Tucker has coached his last game and has lost his $80 million guaranteed contract. Whatever issues Tracy may or may not have, the actions Tucker already admitted to are obviously fireable. It’s basically standard policy in any organization that you don’t engage in this kind of conduct with a subordinate employee or contractor that you have a direct working relationship and authority over. He’s an absolute moron.
It seems like there should be more questioning as to why Tracy would delete her texts. Texts usually end up being some of the best evidence in these types of cases. The obvious answer would be that there are things in the texts that she did not want investigators to see.
“While I am saddened by Ms. Tracy’s disclosure of the sensitive nature of this call, let me be perfectly clear — it was an entirely mutual, private event between two adults living at the opposite ends of the country,” Tucker’s statement reads. “She initiated the discussion that night, sent me a provocative picture of the two of us together, suggested what she may look like without clothes, and never once during the 36 minutes did she object in any manner, much less hang up the phone.”
There’s no way to know exactly what happened so no point in speculating about that. Maybe he convinced her to delete them under the guise of protecting both of them but actually just thinking about himself. Maybe she really was playing along as he said but there were differences of opinion about which point he crossed the line. She doesn’t have to be totally innocent here for him to be a creep that should be fired. The facts that he already admitted to are an obviously major HR violation. One of the all time self owns.
Does anyone else love what Smith had done for the program and love his coaching, but find that he seems to have no actual personality? Almost all of his interviews are interchangeable. All coach speak, and you can almost never get a direct answer on anything team or player related from him. I think I can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve actually seen him show some emotion and personality.
It’s becoming clearer and clearer that this site has lost its way. There are very few “angry” Beavs left here, and it is no longer the critical look at Oregon State athletics. Apparently it’s not even okay to say that I like coach Smith but think he has a very dry personality (coaches with unique and/or quirky, personalities is something that makes CFB fun, think Leach, Gundy, Deion, Saban, etc).
I get we’re having success right now, but people are allowed to have differing points of view, and that doesn’t make them “trolls”
Let’s see if people still act the same way if we drop a mid-season game that we should have won. Maybe then it will get its edge back…..
Troll… go comment about Lanning on your ducks sites and leave OSU alone.
JS is articulate, competitive and his on guy. He doesn’t need to talk how you want him to to prove anything. Move along and respect your elders since you must only be 18… as a student and all. You should probably enroll in a public speaking class rather than on how others do it.
What exactly is there to be angry about at this point in the season? We have a qb (actually 2 qbs), we have a better defense then most thought, we have depth. The play calling on both sides of the ball have been great.
Much like the team I’ll take this season one game at a time. I don’t give a shit about Washington or Colorado or Oregon until it’s time to play them. If they start doing stupid play calling or bad player rotations then sure I’ll get angry but that hasn’t happened yet.
I also don’t understand this constant whining sound emanating from your posts. Say something constructive. “I don’t have feels,” and “I think coach is boring,” are not critical thinking. They’re feelings. Nobody is against a convo about something reasonable, but hot takes based on feelings, followed by, “Why am I whining about you all shaking your collective heads at me thinking unsupported hot takes about ancillary feelings are anything remotely connected to critical thought?” is just annoying as hell.
You’ve made a lot of statements about how you characterize the team, or how you feel they will do this season, but even among the ppl who’ve been kind enough to engage with you (me), you haven’t provided much to support (comparisons, statistics from other seasons, etc) what you contend.
That’s not restricting what you say, or evidence the community somehow has lost its capability to read contrary pov’s as it regards football.
There are members here who are pretty knowledgeable; some have played football, some are football/sport adjacent (have family/relatives that played, some of that carries over across different sports), some have connections to current or recent roster, some follow recruiting very closely, and some have watched many, many (yes, this should be recognized) seasons of Beaver football and therefore possess the intimacy of knowing how the university and current staff situates itself in regards to its athletics.

Ask A Beaver Anything | Pac X TRO Hearing Report
Its pretty good, if you got time.
lays out case, and what 2pac could end up with
One thing I have noticed is he still has some timing issues, or maybe the WRs have timing issues? Hopefully he will have enough live snaps before conference play starts to work those things out. Because it seems with better timing yac will be deadly
I think this will be tested at Colorado. For whatever reason, OSU’s quick/fast receivers don’t seem to get great separation. In Colorado, they’ll be facing some highly rated, though young, CB talent.
I expect OSU’s running game and TEs to be the difference in that game.
I think that’s the key for all of OSU’s games. The O Line. Pus with the new clock rules and the running clock after first downs, OSU can run the ball and shorten the game.
What is very seeable out of the OSU DJU so far compared to the Clemson DJU isn’t so much “accuracy issues”, but more the underlying problem that results in “accuracy issues”. He isn’t a very mechanically refined QB. His footwork and his throwing motion is a little bit different every time.
It will hurt his draft stock, or he’ll get picked high for his “potential” but he won’t last long. He’s been able to get away with it because his arm/body talent is so off the charts good. But, it didn’t get better in his time at Clemson, and even though they’ve rolled to 2-0, it’s all still there to see. He’s sometimes all arm and it comes out flat or sails with an awkward spiral, he sometimes opens his hips and has a baseball throwing motion. He does a weird (although very athletic) foot dance instead of a refined drop sometimes and rests on flat feet.
What he ran into at Clemson was an RPO offense that required him to process the field quickly both vertically and side-to-side while working through the RPO play-action. He did fine throwing the ball down the field where his arm strength could shine, but by the time he got to the ACC championship game he had lost so much confidence that he was throwing ducks into the ground at the feet of open receivers on standard dig and out routes that are there just to keep the chains moving.
He wasn’t the ONLY problem on offense at Clemson, I think they’ve proved that even more so this season, but it did get ugly for him.
I’m not trying to be a hater or be hyper-critical. He’s in the best situation possible to be successful, he doesn’t have to play Shedeur Sanders hero ball throwing with 50+ attempts like they wanted him to do at Clemson, but the issues with his game are all still there, even if they’ve resulted in big plays and even TD’s so far against the cupcake schedule.
Wouldn’t the coaches be working with him on such issues? Hopefully his off mechanics is part of the vanilla play calling. I can’t remember him rolling out much.
The footwork is a manifestation of RPO. He doesn’t yet slide like a pocket passer, but he’s at least looking really comfortable back there with some chips to go with that sandwich.
It is preparing the team depth and getting real time, full speed reps for 1st, 2nd, 3rd string guys in all phases. OC and DC are slow-walking the playbook and waiting with more exotic stuff until conference play anyway.
Defense has proven it is going to be nearly equal to last year and offense has been efficient and run based. All good signs from what I can tell. JS is doing things different from what we are used to because he has a team built with quality depth and backups who will be ready to play.
Injuries at key positions, or lack of depth sunk previous teams, but not JS teams. If Jim Wilson isn’t worried, I’m not worried.
I’m not bothering to preview SDSU, only because if the Beavs cant beat them, the season is a loss anyway.
Instead I’ve started watching the WSU/Wisconsin film.
I’m not too concerned with WSU either after watching their film(only through the 1st half so far, so maybe the 2nd half will be better?)
Beavs should be able to go 4-0 without much of a problem.
Just need to stay healthy.
The big things against wsu will be to avoid turnovers and to not give ward 6 seconds to pass on a regular basis. It’s in Pullman which scares me a little but should be a win.
I dont see Ward getting nearly that much time to throw, and he’s pretty inaccurate in those scenarios where he scrambles.
Their biggest strength in my mind was their edge rushers, but that group will be going up against our strongest position group, so it’s a bit of a wash
Ya they have a good pass rush. I know gray is good but I saw a couple of times last game where the guy just speed rushed pass him. Hopefully they can protect DJU well. The Oline is a far better run blocking line than pass blocking
Oh funny, i jist searched WSU/Wisconsin on youtube amd it was one of the first to come up.
Well this years OSU team should have no problem with last years WSU team.
When I saw Mauigoa in there I did a double take too, but figured they found a way to retain him. Wrong.
The WSU game will be a great litmus test. WSU is essentially the same program they were under Leach. UW absolutely manhandled them during that period and Smith was OC for a number of those games. IMO, Smith is trying to build a program in the mold of the Peterson era UW teams. If Beavs can dominate that game physically, I think they’ll be on their way. If they struggle they’re probably not quite conference championship material.
Just scanning articles, seems like Sanders’ M.O. so far is to manufacture motivation by characterizing any remarks as disrespectful or personal. I guess that works for some, but seems like it would get old.
Everyone has to disrespect everyone these days. Everyone is being disrespected. One-ups-manship at every level. Then there are the people inventing ‘disrespect’ like dionne. Then there’s yucks flipping off ttech fans post game, (https://x.com/jeffrosa_/status/1701806424119238764?s=20) when do coaches get involved with player conduct. When do fans boo and jeer but not resort to racist epithets? Society man, I blame it all on social media.
I just gave a link to the head coach of Georgia making up some baloney disrespect–the same guy who said after last year’s CFP CG that everyone disrespected his team, and look at them now.
There was an arson at the hotel in Eugene that SDSU planned on staying at the night before the game, and as a result, the entire team will stay in Portland the night before, and make the drive down to Corvallis early on game day. Which one of you is responsible ;)?
But Riley isn’t the coach. That is one of the many monkeys JS has thrown off of the team’s back. This is the season we get the jinx monkey off our back.
Watching the UCLA/SDSU highlights. It’s pretty clear SDSU doesn’t have the talent or depth to keep up.
SDSU’s offense is pretty much a one man show and he’s not that good. The QB can make some plays but he can’t carry the team on his back. He’s also the leading rusher on the team which isn’t a good thing for them. SDSU’s offense will have a tough time consistently moving the ball.
Beavs offense should be pretty vanilla again. Doubt we’ll see any kind of gadget play. Ground and pound early and setup play action. SDSU’s dline is small. Lots of high percentage throws to move the ball. Have to wonder if they’ll take a legit deep shot. I don’t think the Beavs have taken one yet. I don’t count the long TD at SJSU because it was a broken play.
Would like to see a slightly more efficient DJU. He seemed a bit off last game. Kind of expect an 80% completion rate in this game. I’d say he doesn’t need any designed runs at all this game other than goal line plays.
Beavs have gotten off to fast starts in both games. Even if they don’t this time, the overall talent and depth gap will come very apparent in the second half.
The offense being vanilla is why DJ air-mailed a couple balls. Hawkins wasn’t born yesterday, and he threw some looks at us that fell back into the correct D for what was called, and it was probably a timing play. He’s getting the clock in his head right, and he’s not making a mistake by trying to win the busted play.
Give Smith and Lindgren some halftime adjustments, and the “accuracy issues” are moot… as long as we stay vanilla.
I would, however, like to see some numbers on how efficient the offense is when running on 1st, versus passing. I feel like the three-and-outs are mostly begun by pass calls. I’d like them to set up play-action by starting every series with a run.
Beavs run game can create a psychological pressure on the opponent because the amount of possessions will be limited. Beavs offense can be efficient and effectively limit the opponent to perhaps as few as 7-8 possessions for the game. It is sort of the reverse of what Chip Kelly did with the same result psychologically. Kelly wanted to force his opponent into an uptempo score fast shootout which most teams couldn’t keep up with, and also creating a mindset that you can’t settle for field goals and beat them.
JS and the Beavs will create a similar anxiety that also occurs in late game possessions of basketball games. Players start to realize they only have about 3 more possessions to make up points and it becomes its own challenge.
OSU will be able to run on everyone, including Utah, thereby shortening games, in addition to the new clock rules, which will shorten games and limit possessions. Teams like USC, Oregon, Colorado, Washington haven’t adjusted to the new clock rules yet because they are still heavy big play reliant. Beavs will be able to grind the game to a halt and control the pace, differently than every other team going forward.
To follow up on your new clock rules comment. I saw an article that said in the first 2 weeks teams had an average of 4.6 fewer plays and 2 minute shorter games. I would have thought it would be more of both.
That also requires controlling fast-paced offenses. Last year, Bray’s D was #1 in the country in red zone D, number one in the PAC in total yards and points. Not a lot of sacks and TOs obviously, kind of text book bend-but-don’t break D.
That needs to continue with teams who prefer a high number of possessions. If they can score quickly, and get a high number of possessions, time of possession doesn’t matter.
Text messages can be recovered even after deletion. Before they are delivered they go through your phone companies server. I believe she was likely raped. However, It’s clear she is using that as her identity which is weird to me. Then to engage with Mel Tucker and sext him tells a lot about her character. People want to make things black and white all the time. She was raped and that’s terrible, but when you use it to get publicity, it shows to me, you don’t care about what happened, you are more concerned about attention. Does she have an actual job, or is being a victim her career?
Yes, I mentioned this above. Unless you do a drive wipe, and probably a 3x wipe, anything is recoverable. Delete means “reallocate this old memory for use” …it doesn’t mean delete for good.
I missed it angry but you are 100% correct. That is why its important to completely shred any hard drive, and I mean physically, if you want to rid the data. Data recovery is fascinating.
I hope that is true – we an ex-Mayor, police chief and fire chief up in Seattle who have some ‘splainin’ to do as to why they deleted a year’s worth of text messages off their phones from the ‘summer of love’ and beyond – which are public property.
So what you are saying is you are a fair weather fan, kinda like duck fans, if the beavs some how end up in the MWC you will no longer follow them. Hey I don’t l want the Beavs to end up in the MWC but I would still be a fan and follow them and attend games. People have tail gate parties for the nonconference game’s that are big sky or mwc. But what I hear you saying is that they shouldn’t tailgate and enjoy the game day experience because of the inferior opponents , people will only tailgate and enjoy themselves and support the Beavs if it is a power 5 opponent.
I’m still waiting on DJU to create plays. He made a nice flip to fenwick last game. We all know he has an amazing arm and can run well but is he going to be able to make big plays when things breakdown and the games on the line? Obviously the situation hasn’t arisen yet and he hasn’t had to but will we see him evade the pass rush and make plays downfield? Will he make big plays with his legs to move the chains? I’m hoping he can be a playmaker when we really need it and he run a great 2 minute drill.
It appers the best road forward is the reverse merger. And what better way to stick it to Fox/ESPN than for Apple to give 25M to each PacWest school. The schools could grow going from 4M to 25M and be something. Pac is good now, but how long was it Trojan and the 7/9 dwarfs. Just imagine getting New Mexico on par with the Ducks.
The deal would definitely help those schools grow and recruit better but none of them are ever going to be on par with the ducks facility wise just because of uncle Phil.
I think it’s likely some networks find enough money to give us an unequal share in a re-constituted Pac X and hope we take the Apple deal and just disappear into the streaming world.
By that, I mean they contract through Apple to supply enough “linear” buys to supplement unequal shares and some extra for the rest of the MWC or whoever, relative to what they’re getting now or would get in a new deal.
We have so much leverage on both Fox and B1Ggie.
They do not want discovery. It already looks bad enough on the emails some schools sent directly to ours. Imagine how the correspondence between them and both our and their new Conferences will look.
They’ve stepped in it, big time.
That being said, I have no clue if this scenario will happen. It makes sense, given it’s the easiest path to make everything go away as quickly as possible. But you know the rest of the country will do a double-take. What leverage really exists? There will be drama for years to come.
The best summary of the situation following the TRO was given on Joe Beaver show by Tumwater Dave yesterday. He was essentially summarizing an OSU fan who is also a antitrust attorney.
The TRO sets the stage for discovery from each side regarding communications/information relating to the breakdown of the conference. The attorney described this as a great situation for PAC2 as they certainly have a lot of leverage due to the obvious back room deals, preferred landing spots for specific schools from Fox and ESPN. Discovery will certainly compound the bad PR for networks and schools involved, and make the PAC2 case a slam dunk.
Leverage results in negotiations and settlements rather than exposure. If GK wants to press the issue for his golden parachute, he is putting the Traitors10, 2 networks and 3 conference (Big10, Big12, ACC) all in the cross hairs of a monumental anti-trust lawsuit which puts the current status for all of college football/sports into jeopardy. Not only that, but there is a strong case to be made for Title 9 infractions based on student athlete welfare in general regarding the Traitors10 and their travel insanity. Title 9 is primarily about SA welfare and not limited to gender equality issues.
Also, Apple may have some issues with how the networks interfered in commerce by colluding to shut them out of college football as well.
The attorney predicts that the discovery phase may take some time but expects an enormous settlement in favor of PAC2 as a result of settling prior to further litigation in the interest of all parties (networks, conferences, blue bloods) preferring to not face antitrust questions at the Supreme Court level, which is the likely endgame, since only MLB has been given the ability to operate outside of antitrust laws, somehow.
He thinks the PAC2 could set a very high demand for settlement and gave 2 scenarios which would both be pretty good:
1) PAC2 continues and rebuilds with guaranteed $35-$40/school for each school entering, rights deal with multiple networks and even Apple, and continued recognition and access to playoff as P5 conference or no deal
2) OSU/WSU are brought into Big10 to rejoin UW and Oregon but WSU/OSU both get full shares of $50 mil/year or no deal
Attorney has no interest in Big12 as it doesn’t continue the rivalry games in a meaningful way. I tend to agree.
Many great observations as far as the leverage that OSU/WSU hold and this may effectively become the best case scenario for both schools to simply hold the entire collegiate system hostage via potential antitrust lawsuits until they blink and open up the Brinks trucks.
I’m not sure which is preferable but I like the irony of going to the Big10 with twice the bankroll of UO. I also like the idea of dominating a new west coast conference with guaranteed access to the playoff system which would be a great recruiting edge since all other west coast teams are committed to so much travel.
Give Barnes credit for waiting out Stanford and Cal, and not simply capitulating to the media pressure to just fold and go to the MWC already. If the Beavs and Cougs had said anything publicly that hinted at some agreement that they were already negotiating to join the MWC, all leverage may have been lost and the argument would be made that they weren’t interested in rebuilding the PAC.
Once the “Rebuild the PAC” idea was floated, GK and the Traitors10 realized what that meant for assets and control, hence the urgent meeting and the restraining order request from last week.
I think the Beavs are set to either become the big fish in a rebuilt PAC, or the rising program from the west division in the Big10. Either way, the tables have turned dramatically since a couple of weeks ago.
Good synopsis. There’s a YouTube channel called “Innovative Law Group” that is a Beav alum who’s a lawyer practicing in Eugene. He might have some type of message board or page called Beavs Behind Enemy Lines? Anyway, he’s also been giving a good breakdown of the proceedings. He’s not speculating quite to the extent as what you’ve outlined but he’s in line with most of it. Anti-trust issues, Title 9 and that he can’t imagine the schools, conferences and networks want these things to go through the discovery process and see the light of day. Props to the football coaching staff as I fully had expected to see some decommitments by now but I don’t recall seeing any…at least on social media. Also, wrestling brought in a great xfer from Oklahoma State. 4x state champ from Marshfield and an all-American at OK State. Huge to get a homegrown kid back in the fold. Wrestling is honestly making a statement to be back in the driver’s seat in the conference, and nationally, like it was in the 90’s and early 2000’s, etc.
I prefer getting a huge settlement and rebuilding the pac and to get a playoff spot. This team was built to compete against pac teams and not big10 opponents so they might have to change schemes or personnel. The option to be a dominant force in a rebuilt pac and be a constant playoff team sounds much better and the yucks would be kicking themselves. Think of all that consistent playoff money too.
Please explain the concern over collusion. You’ve mentioned it several times but I’m not sure how it doesn’t apply to this situation.
Is collusion only limited to price fixing? It seems to have a few meanings and one of them is a conspiratorial and secretive agreement among competitors to defraud another party. Sounds about like what we have. I’m genuinely asking Jack because I may not have enough understanding in legal semantics.
In a legal sense, collusion is price-fixing. In a dictionary sense, it’s the same as conspiracy.
This might be under another definition of collusion too. I shouldn’t be too worried about it, but the word just grinds on my nerves.
Now I’m optimistic about a more stable, near term future at least. College football will implode eventually, but IF Beavs can force a good settlement, they can continue to progress under Smith and get a few hood bowl wins.
So now he’s NOT leaving? lol. Dude, you have no fucking clue what Smith is going to do. To me it just seems like you want it to happen so you can simply tell people. I TOLD YOU SO!!
Bad reading comprehension on my part. lol You have no clue what’s going to happen. Like I said in previous statement. Just seems to me you want it to happen just to prove you are right.
Beavs baseball with a ’24 commit today from Catcher, Kai Halstead. Was a Stanford commit so I wonder if the fallout is beginning for them. He’s from WA so perhaps he wasn’t too keen on playing games in Dallas…as a best case scenario.
I have a feeling that account is the lawyer mentioned above and linked via YouTube. Boaty says he’s a lawyer and the way he tweets reads like how the other guy talks in the vids but I could be wrong. Regardless, good account to follow for the legalize breakdowns.
I really don’t want OSU/WSU to be known as the schools who had to sue their way into the Big 10/12. I would rather take an ungodly amount of money from all the assholes, and then build a conference that values SAs and wins the right way. It could be a model of college football that people enjoy and are drawn to.
OSU/WSU have made a point of emphasis that they care about the excessive travel for SA’s which comes with joining the Big 10/12.
Your position avoids the appearance of hypocrisy; might not “be a model”, but seems to own the moral high ground.
Except the other stuff precludes giant bags of cash. The west coast audience is too small and that’s the whole reason we’re here in the first place. There isn’t anything compelling enough about these
programs to make people who don’t care about college football care.
The giant bags of cash come as a result of the settlement from the lawsuit so it will just go away rather than burn down the whole house of cards the networks and bluebloods have created.
It will be interesting to see it play out because I think the whole purpose for the poaching of this realignment phase was to try to whittle away the opportunities to access the playoff pie but OSU/WSU aren’t standing for it and actually have the capability to implode the whole thing…or negotiate from such a strong position as to basically name their price to settle the issue at least for now.
In some ways I almost want them to implode it so we can see a different version of amateur sports rose from the ashes, but I don’t know what that format would be.
Also where is the NCAA ruling body in any of this? Silence and powerless. All of the power has been transferred to the networks.
People seemed to care when we played SJSU mid day on CBS, rather than 7:30 PM on the Pac12 network. I know we were aided by having light competition on a Sunday, but those people still had to tune in rather than do literally anything else with their Sunday.
I really hope they can find a way to air more mid day games going forward, if only to avoid hiding thr teams from the rest of the country
That’s where streaming comes in to play. They can play a game at 3am if they want, or right over the top of the prime time secspn at noon because they don’t have to ask permission.
The NFL is the biggest cash cow in sports. That cash cow was created by trying to create parity, distributing media rights and broadcasting ALL of the teams to a network audience. If the Patriots are the only team being shown to joe six pack then you are correct no one on the west coast would watch.
Yes there are fewer people in the west, but people will watch the football that is available. If you only hype the sec, all you show is sec, and the only time slots the west gets are at midnite est there is no way to showcase the west coast teams to create interest. Do you think anyone in NY gives a shit about Mississippi State?
Partner with a streaming service that folks already have. When the prime time network games are something they don’t care about part of the “channel surfing” will become checking out the streams to see what else is on. Especially as the boomers phase out and the younger generations become the primary customers.
I can’t find the link but the Berkley tax was approved today – California – Among other things, the powers that are have signed off on the move, well within the dates stipulated within the by-laws for formal announcement of departure.
Anybody know if there is a fund for contributions to OSU legal fund?
That’s a moot point.
The Conference doesn’t end when the current TV deal ends. It’s a conference as long as the two remaining eligible CEO Board members vote to dissolve it.
I continue to believe that an Apple deal is still in the cards with a revitalized Pac after the reverse merger. Consider these comments from Holman Jenkins’s column in today’s Wall Street Journal.
” . . . everything about sports, from its second-screen suitability to interactivity (aka betting), makes a shift to streaming inevitable. Only latency, or digital lag, which keeps the digital streaming version of the big game 25 or more seconds behind the broadcast version, has yet to be sorted.”
“Mid-struggle in its search for a new business model, the video-distribution business will also be all the more dependent on the NFL and on sports generally for engaging, authentic, non-algorithmic content.” As an example, Jenkins provides: “On his fourth play [Rodgers] tore his Achilles, left the game, and yet his scrappy Jets won in overtime on a punt return touchdown. You can’t make this stuff up. And that’s the point.”
I’ve more or less grieved the Apple deal in wake of Calford heading to the ACC, but if Apple really wants into the college football racket, supporting a Pac-12 rebuild is their best bet until 2030, unless of course they choose to buy ESPN outright. They might also see the situation as so volatile that it’s best to wait until further “re-alignment” occurs over the next few seasons.
Does anybody get the felling that this “sue your way in” talk will only hasten the move to a 30 some team super league? Even if we had an outside chance of getting to the big10 it would eventually collapse in a few years and we would be right back in the same position we are now.
I believe the most important thing that OSU needs to take care of is the long term financial needs of the athletic department. Whether that comes from a lawsuit, divvying up the Pac’s resources with WSU or signing up with another conference that will ensure the financial health for the forseeable future.
I believe also that at some point in the near future there will be super conference of the blue bloods.
Exactly. Don’t be that school that requires a taxpayer bailout when SHTF, because there will be plenty of them. Washington State needs to do the same thing.
Right there with you BB, this thing is accelerating toward a pro minor league system with no brakes to be found; there is no way OSU, or wazzu, will be included in that final grouping.
Someone needs to focus on where OSU does fit in a new look ncaa system and start planning for that: financially, athletically and as an institution of higher learning.
Friendly reminder that the Mt. Angel Oktoberfest is running this weekend and the *ucks play at 5PM, so I-5 in northern Oregon is going to be a mess. Leave earlier than early!
I was reading an article from 2010. I thought equal distribution was the way it was done. Apparently, the more you were on tv the more you made. So sometime that was changed to an equal distribution model. Up till then, the cash cow was USC. Might be why they were willing to screw all the other schools. Changing to equal distribution might also be why we have seen more parity lately. Moving to equal distribution would have pissed off USC and UCLA.
And who controlled which teams were on TV? That’s an obvious way for the rich to get richer.
I really don’t understand why the networks wouldn’t want parity in college sports. It makes for much more entertainment. Complete domination by 6 teams across the whole country is boring af.
“The main issue that the conference needs to determine before working out the details, is the revenue sharing. If the Big Ten model is followed, each conference member is an equal partner in the venture, with an equal sharing of profits and losses. The Pac-10 must reconcile if they will have each member as an equal partner in BOTH equity AND profits.
Maintaining the status quo of a 60/40 split in profits between the teams that get more air-time will create a significant imbalance in power down the road. Unequal revenue sharing among partners will lead to “power grabs” among the currently elite schools and a sense of bitterness among the currently underperforming schools.
Just ask any former Big 12 member.
A partnership needs to be just that. A partnership, not a limited partnership.”
The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation
“Probably the single most overlooked entity in western college athletics realignment issues, is the MPSF .
What is the MPSF?
In a nutshell, the MPSF is designed to “provide championship competition for Division I intercollegiate Olympic sports in a conference setting” as well as “to ensure the survival of sports impacted by Title IX and other fiscal pressures.”
With many programs in the western U.S. having connections to the MPSF, including the Pac-10, the MWC, the WAC, and other conference members, these realignment shifts and conference-owned network programming are a big concern for the organization.
If (or when) the Pacific Conference decides to form a conference owned network, it could be either a boom or bust for the MPSF’s sports. If the Pac wants their members’ participating sports “in the network” to the exclusion of the other teams then the MPSF could lose their best teams to the new super conference.
However, the Pac could decide to utilize the larger membership of the MPSF as a source of content for the new network, and for the sports that the Pac doesn’t currently sponsor.”
I think the networks like to promote their picks. Start early and promote Georgia, Ohio State, USC in games to build up for the “big” games. Then someone like Utah, TCU or OSU craps in their bed. Keep the resources in the hands of “their” picks. It all makes a lot more sense.
Seems like he’s trying to find ways to sidestep those pesky bylaws and do what he can for whoever will give him more money to screw over whoever he can. But that’s just my opinion and I didn’t read the article.
Wilner basically says GK sent a letter to OSU and WSU saying the 10 schools were still on the board because none of the schools are attempting to leave before the current media right deal ends and they all still have voting rights. Wilner for his part pointed out that GK twisted the by-laws either on purpose or by mistake as that is not what they say. GK then acknowledged there are probably some conference decisions that should only be made by the two and some should be made by all 12.
Wilner then notes GK changed his tune a bit once the lawsuit was filed and submitted a latter to the court saying he has no opinion on who should be on the board at this point, the 12 or the court need to decide.
I think you’re right, he’ll likely get a severance package.
When the board president (WSU) told GK not to call a board meeting and GK went ahead and did so, that could be insubordination though. But it’s a weak argument and there still seems to be no pattern to point to.
Speaking of pay packages, is Oliver Luck still cashin’ checks?
I’d think that losing 10 schools and then trying to skirt the bylaws would seem to be enough to fire someone with cause. That’s just the stuff we know about as well. Despite that, I do agree that more than likely he will get a nice severance package because that’s usually what happens to people in high positions despite doing shitty ass work.
So either the conference commissioner does not understand the conference bylaws, or he is intentionally misrepresenting them for personal gain. What a complete douchebag.
In other news of the media world, details of the Disney-Charter settlement are filtering through. According to today’s WSJ, “As part of the deal, Disney agreed to sacrifice eight cable networks that will no longer be offered in the Charter bundle.” ESPN will persist of course, but the shape of things to come is clear. “Sacrificing channels is a trade off that all media companies will need to consider as they make the tricky pivot from TV to streaming.” one executive is quoted to this effect: “This accelerates the slow death of some of the longer tail networks that consumers don’t really want and hastens the transition to streaming.” Of the networks considered in jeopardy one is of interest to the sports fan, TruTV, which has part of the March Madness action. Says another network executive: “Cable networks are not a good business and it’s only going to get worse.” I wonder if coach DeBoer is paying attention. Ooops, too late.
I have zero idea what the temperature between what the P2 and Apple is – but it would seem insane to not have convos with Apple to have a streaming deal set up.
If OSU/WSU could be the first CFB teams to have an exclusive streaming rights that would be huge. It would be a major news story and the schools would be on the home screens of ~75 million people.
Of course if we piss down our leg and merge with the MWC in some fashion then this likely gets tossed out the window.
I bet deboer would like that back, but for being scapegoated by his former ad and now conference rival. What ad/president actually makes that call based on KBs recruiting comment when the transfer portal appears to have negated any deficiencies for them and 75-85% of the conference?
Have a great game, be curious about your experience.
The more I read the bylaws around “withdrawal”, the more I lean towards the 10 teams getting their way.
This is the only section that really matters, because it is the only bylaw that would immediatly remove voting rights.
It reads “No member shall deliver a notice of withdrawal to the Conference in the period beginning July 2011 and ending Aug 1st 2024.”
I don’t dispute that the 10 teams have given notice that they intend to withdraw and move to their new conference after the current media deal ends, but none of the 10 schools are actually withdrawing from the conference until after that date.
So as I’m reading it, they have not given a notice of withdrawal, and therefore retain their voting rights until they do leave.
And if they retain their voting rights, it only takes a 9/12 vote to change existing bylaws. So…I think OSU/WSU are screwed.
One big unknown is just what typea of votes were USC amd UCLA excluded from? Was it only media deal business, or was there any other business that USC/UCLA were forbidden to take part in?
And did the conference formally forbid those teams from participating, or did they just willingly skip those meetings, knowing the other 10 schools still had quarum to conduct business without 2 schools present?
Big piece of evidence is the letter sent to Colorado by the PAC12 explicitly telling them they lost their voting rights. Have to wonder if USC/UCLA got a similar letter.
That’s the critical point. If they were not invited or prevented from voting on conference issues P2 could argue precedent. The other thing I think they could argue is intent. The languge of that bylaw is nebulous. This will go down to what ‘notice’ is, and what ‘deliver’ is.
That said, I also think it will probably go the P10 way, because it’s the Luck O Da Beavs’
Based on everything I’ve read/heard from reputable and qualified attorneys without a dog in the fight, WSU and OSU have a very strong position. That said, I asked my attorney his take today (UW/Harvard grad). He said it’s impossible to draw any definitive conclusion without having all the documents and studying other relevant rulings. He also said, anything is possible in a courtroom and attorney’s are good at finding weaknesses in any argument. He predicts that since WSU/OSU have nothing to lose, they will likely try to leverage discovery to get a favorable settlement… but he said discovery could cut both ways and that public opinion for WSU/OSU could turn on a dime
I’m worried we’re just digging a deeper hole and if the 10 other teams get their way, will they take the conference assets and vote to use OSU/WSU’s cut to cover legal fees?
What’s to stop them?
The reality is that it will come down to the judge’s decision and that’s never 100% predictable. The fact that the T10 position keeps shifting is a good sign. With the complexity surrounding the disposition of the assets at stake and how poorly written the conference bylaws are, some kind of settlement seems like the most likely conclusion.
I agree with the settlement, because they can’t afford discovery.
But the settlement should be OSU and WSU taking control of the Pac. The judge will likely have any abnormal decisions run by him or some third party, due to the mistrust being validated, if it doesn’t end in settlement. And that’s it.
I think a part of the “transition costs” associated with dissolution is that the Pac Network infrastructure has to be removed and returned to wherever it may go. I would have no problem with the 2 Pac paying for these costs. We’ll just ship them to different MWC schools near them, to cut down on the costs.
I think that’s a fair settlement. Lord knows they all would have found the most expensive way to disassemble/ship the hardware, left to their own devices.
General guideline I’ve found helpful w/ stuff like this is that it takes time to get where it needs too, that only the legal representation/parties involved have access to everything, and to not get too involved over each minute development as they happen.
That said, it does seem like there is valid basis for a legal case for Oregon State/Washington State’s interests. Hopefully their representation is persuasive, and they don’t make critical missteps so it leads to a positive outcome.
They can’t give notice of withdrawal, which they have done. This is precisely the same as giving two weeks notice. You haven’t left your job yet, but you have given notice you are going to leave. And an at-will contract means your contractual partner can dismiss you or zero out your hours.
In order to find in favor of the ten, the Supreme Court would have to ignore decades of contract law and find that at-will contracts are invalid.
They have given notice of what, if it isn’t that they are leaving the Conference?
The Conference doesn’t end when the TV contract ends. Only the period when no member can announce they will no longer be a part of the Conference will end. Announce before that date, and it’s still an announcement.
This is simpler than water is wet or the sky is blue.
“I don’t dispute that the 10 teams have given notice that they intend to withdraw”
They haven’t done this. They have given notice they will withdraw. It doesn’t matter if that withdrawal was in 2030. They gave notice.
A good example of a school who has given notice of intent, not withdrawal, is Florida State. You’ll note the language they use is actually opaque. No such opacity even came close to what the ten have announced.
The English language, especially the part utilized in law, disputes this. So I guess I should also say some Latin also disputes it.
Is there a difference between “notice of intent to withdraw” vs “notice of withdrawal”? One might interpret the latter as a notice given at the time they actually withdraw. “withdrawal” is an action in the present tense. So the latter is a notice of an action which, in this case, hasn’t actually occurred yet.
There is definitely plenty of room for interpretation in a court. Hopefully there is precedent that will push it toward the former.
Can OSU negotiate as a stand alone streaming option with Apple? Is it possible the idea of al a crate streaming will lead to each school negotiating their own deals with Apple or Amazon to replace the network/conference contracts in the billions of dollars.
You don’t get the same ask you would get if you bring security in content production, by bringing other schools who are serious about the same platform.
I think we’ve garnered enough free publicity in the last year or so, Apple could do something with the marketing aspect that would elevate such a venture. But I don’t think even us and Wazzu in a duo effort gets what is needed to meet financial obligations.
Only thing I could see this working- and no idea if it’s possible- is having apple partner as a schedule negotiator. If they could/would work with our ad, in filling out schedules for all sports. It could be a fruitful idea- basically letting apple run the ad department in terms of schedules are concerned.
PHIL STEELE REPORT (Ranking #s are power rating levels based on performance and should not be construed as actual poll rankings.)
Oregon State defeated San Diego State 28-7 in their last meeting in 2014. The home team has covered 3 straight (2-1 SU). Oregon State has won the last 3 meetings (2-1 ATS) since 2000. Beavers have won the last 4 vs Mountain West teams & have covered the last 6 ATS. San Diego State lost both Pac-12 games last year but since 2016 have six wins against that conference. Oregon State is #37 on my Exp Chart and San Diego State is #87. Last week It was tied 7-7 after 1Q, then UCLA went 75/7 and 68/3 for TD’s and San Diego State drove 48/10 for a FG to make it 21-10. UCLA punted, then went 85/7 for a TD with 1:20 left, the score was 28-10 at halftime. San Diego State had a 1&G at 1 but a pass went off a WR’s hands and was intercepted in the EZ. UCLA went 80/12 for a TD and San Diego State went 52/11 but was SOD at the 23 and intercepted at the 40 in UCLA’s 35-10 win with a 550-259-yard edge. Oregon State played San Jose State on a Sunday to open and even on the road rolled to a 42-17 (-23’) win. Last week Oregon State got a 64 yd TD run on the first play and added a 2Q 65 yd punt return and led UC Davis 38-0 at halftime. Backup QB Aidan Chiles played the entire 2H (9-13-74) with 2 pass TD and 74 yds rush (TD) and Oregon State rolled 55-7 (-23.5). Jonathan Smith now has a remodeled home stadium and was 12-1 SU and 13-0 ATS in Reser the two years prior during the rebuild. They beat Boise State by 17 and Hawaii by 18 the last two years at home. The Aztecs just hosted UCLA last week and have a huge Friday night game vs Boise State on deck so the situation favors an Oregon State team that has covered 14 in a row at home and my Average Game Grade has them by 40.3!

“Your suggestion that ten of the Conference’s 12 members have ‘withdrawn’ from the Conference within the meaning of the Bylaws is mistaken. Not one member school has signaled any intention — or actually attempted — to leave Conference play at any time prior to the end of the current fiscal year on July 31, 2024, or to take back and exploit their media rights.
We simply cannot accept the suggestion that only two members. — Oregon State University (OSU) and Washington State University (WSU) — now have the right to determine by themselves all issues affecting the Conference, and determine the course of all revenue coming into the Conference, to the exclusion of the other ten member schools.
That said, I do have the view that there are decisions (for example, which, if any, schools to invite to join the Conference after July 1, 2024) that should solely be made by OSU and WSU, to the exclusion of our ten other members.”
Then he addresses the middle ground:
There may also be other decisions that don’t clearly fall within the purview for either all 12 or just the 2 to decide and will be contested. Regardless, it is the Board that should and will determine its governance pursuant to the rules set forth in the Bylaws.
My recommendation is that all 12 Presidents and Chancellors should use the opportunity of next week’s Board meeting to see if we can agree on which decisions get decided by all 12, which get decided by just OSU and WSU, and further discuss whether the 12 can agree on a process to consider and decide the contested issues.
We also plan to distribute, in advance of Wednesday’s Board meeting, a suggested conflict of interest policy that addresses how we might think about the 12 schools agreeing on governance issues to avoid conflict.”
That meeting never happened. Kliavkoff’s letter was deemed unacceptable by OSU and WSU. Moments after the 10 a.m. deadline on Sept. 8, attorneys for the plaintiffs walked into Whitman County Superior Court and filed the complaint”
MATCHUP/TIME/TV: vs. San Diego State (3:30 p.m. ET, FS1)
Both members of the Pac-2 are getting it done: Oregon State has looked the part of a genuine New Year’s Six contender and Washington State just knocked off Wisconsin for the second year in a row. The Beavers have landed terrific early play from Clemson quarterback transfer DJ Uiagalelei, who has barely been needed in the fourth quarter of two blowout wins but has accounted for eight total touchdowns while leading an offense that has yet to commit a turnover. San Diego State has the physical style to provide a tougher test, though the Aztecs struggled to get anything going in last weekend’s 35-10 loss to No. 25 UCLA…”
Phil Steele report kills the thread…is he enjoyable reading for anyone?
At least he picked the Beavs this time. Nonsense stats and historical data that has nothing to do with the actual matchup.
I will be really impressed if Deion Sanders can figure out a way to feel disrespected by Jonathon Smith. “He’s so soft spoken, he’s made this personal!”
It’s homecoming for them, it’s already sold out. If Beavs are still undefeated they’ll be ranked 5-10. Buffs will probably be 2-3 loss team and fighting to get back into the Top20, but if they survive @UO, USC, and @UCLA with only 1 or 2 close losses Fox and ESPN will be back on campus again in full force to cash in on the cult of Deion.
They’ll come up with something to “make it personal”.
Angry do you think you could reach out to a coug kind of like hank from Stanford to come on here? I’m sure they would be more than willing considering the kind of alliance we have going. Just a thought. Could be pretty cool.
Watching Utah State get their asses handed to them by Air Force. Their announcers voice is so annoying. Guy sounds like Chris Rock. I’ll take Mike Parker any day over this guy.
Lol i was just looking for a game to watch and flipped to af vs Utah st just in time to hear Chris rock refer to peanut Tillman as pat Tillman. Football savant
Also, saw Greg Swaim (media guy and has a show called Greg Swaim Show) tweeted a few hours ago that the B12 talks have merrit again for the Pac 2. Haven’t seen any other rumors today on that but this guy is at least in the media and not just some rando. These next few weeks could definitely be interesting to say the least.
Interesting. Looks like he’s the only one with that information. I think B12 is best option to keep coaches and recruits. A lot of folks knocking B12 football but with Utah, Beavs, Utah, and now Colorado, the league could be better than B10 in long run. Solid programs that make the most of the money they get.
Swaim was one if the biggest 12anon guys back when the Pac still has 10 teams. Most of his schtick was baseless built on more rumors and was wrong much more often than right.
That being said, he was right more than legitimate media members like Wilner/Canzano.
True but I do believe there is a lot of chatter that goes on behind the scenes that doesn’t ultimately materialize. Doesn’t mean it wasn’t discussed or considered. Just means it didn’t happen. Much of what Canzano reported was likely from OSU and WSU sources. Swain’s sources seem to be 4 corners and B12. These guys hear stuff and then put it out there but it doesn’t mean it will be so. That said, since UW/Oregon left, I’ve always felt that Beavs will eventually end up in B12. With recent court battle, I think the chances of B12 have increased. I’d say 70% B12, 25% rebuilt P12, 5% MWC. I’m certain that Beavs will do everything they can to avoid MWC. Bad conference and I think the Beavs would struggle to compete after the players and coaches leave. I don’t think the notion that Beavs would dominate MWC is realistic and in fact they would probably get destroyed by Fresno, BSU, and SDSU more often than not
In the past, OSU has struggled to beat top MWC teams especially when they don’t have great coaching. Their advantage over the MWC has been the P12 brand and TV money which has allowed them to get good talent and coaching. Without these advantages, I don’t think we’d could compete with the top MWC teams that have established G5 programs. For instance, BSU already wins its fair share of head to head recruiting battles with Beavs.
One of my son’s teammates committed to Boise St. over offers from Wazzu and UDub, which I thought was interesting. I don’t know the details, so hard to speculate as to why. Probably a better chance for playing time sooner.
I personally know one Beav commit that told my son that for him it depends on whether they get into major conference. Said coaches are telling him they believe the B12 will eventually be where they end up. Thinks that Beavs/Cougs get an invite before end of season. Also said recruiting class is legit and that Chiles is key to keeping it together if they can get to B12. Otherwise, it will be mass exodus.
Perhaps but even if the Pac 2 get all the assets and can do a reverse merger, I still think it’s a big blow to the athletic dept. In a lot of the major sports the prestige of playing in the top conferences is still a big draw and I think getting to the B12 is still better from a program perspective.
Petros Papadakis is calling the Beav game tomorrow for FS1 and he is also calling the ASU-Fresno game at 7:30. Sounds like the announcers may not actually be at the game.
Go Beavs
So we’ve got WSU up in another week, and then Utah.
Think I’m going to try and make Utah my next game to attend. Any suggestions if it’s better to sit on the old side so you can have a view of the new side in action? or better to sit on the new side and get the first hand experience?
Friday night game, should be a fun environment if they’re able to come into the game undefeated.
Only bad seats are the upper corners or high up in the south endzone where the scoreboard is too large for your eyes to process a replay.
We’ll see what kind of team they really are when they play Colorado in two weeks (didn’t think I’d say that this year)
Beavs/Cougs in Pullman will be at 4pm on Fox.
I’ll be there. What a great game time.
Second week in a row for Big Noon in Boulder. They sure to have a hard on for Colorado.
Sight lines from all the seats were great
Crazy that Chiles is still only 17
Serious? That’s crazy. Mature kid.
except that he’s 18 and has been for quite awhile
Shhh, they are both students, I bet they are taking classes together
Technically he’s right until midnight. His bday is tomorrow.
https://x.com/nikkichiles/status/1569486032202252291?s=20
Nope, he turns 18 tomorrow.
https://x.com/nikkichiles/status/1569486032202252291?s=20
Yeah he turns 18 tomorrow
https://x.com/nikkichiles/status/1569486032202252291?s=20
So what you are saying, is that he turns 18….? Tomorrow?
Re-rank, OSU @ #13….and above Alabama…and UW….

Live stream of today’s courtroom proceedings between the 2Pac and the Pac12/GL and the request for a restraining order
https://twitter.com/Baseballplerrr/status/1701302024489542049
Just wondering if anyone was following…
Saw this from Daschel and Clownzano:
“Plaintiffs attorney said one item agenda for Wednesdays board meeting would allow the conference to pay some of the transition costs for departing 10 schools.”
So we ALSO get to pay for them to leave? Fuck those entitled shitballs!
Holy shit this guy defending GK/PAC-12 is such a crybaby bitch.
i saw it coming from the same source you did. i tuned in late to the youtube stream and will have to drop off soon too
Fuck them. They CHOSE to leave. They should have to pay their own way.
Ah so they should be able to pick and choose what matters they are allowed to vote on, including getting paid to depart? WTF
So three teams being formally removed (sc, fucla & bison) now should have voting rights aain? How does that work? These are some slimy shysters
These people have no shame, it’s quite amazing
the judge solved that problem by dictating any conference decisions have to be by unanimous vote
Concur that the main point of the defendant’s counsel was how hard WSU and OSU were making it for George to manage day to day affairs.
revenge is a dish best served cold
WSU/OSU win the first round. Judge grants the temporary restraining order.
“Judge grants the temporary restraining order on behalf of OSU and WSU v. the Pac-12 and George Kliavkoff.”
Score one for the good guys
More evidence came to light.
Biggest piece was a letter sent to Colorado stating they had lost their board voting rights when they announced they were leaving. Pretty much states OSU/WSU’s case.
LMAO, but they should all have voting rights now because, um, well…
concur. the killer argument by the OSU attorney was that that 7 of the remaining 9 (who now wish to leave) had a “front row seat” in telling the Buffs they could not vote anymore
it was a modified TRO in response to repeated pleadings from the conference attorney about “retention” issues. even those require unanimous vote.
TRO upheld, no board meetings to be held until it is determined who exactly constitutes the board, but PAC can operate normal business decisions. Can approve action if all 12 schools agree unanimously.
Chalk it up as a win for now.
Yeah its just a first step. But at least its a good one
Yeah, they didn’t give two shits about the employees when they left. I guess the league can hire temps for the next year to get by.
Nothing WSU and OSU can’t handle.
Sounds like the T10 really have nothing. Good news for the good guys.
Was there any justification for the decision to grant the restraining order? That would be valuable precedent in subsequent cases.
Have to wonder if any of the other 10 pushed for that board meeting?
Or Georgie just grasping for that golden parachute after he sets the plane on fire?
the justification was the judge’s clear perception that there was risk to OSU and WSU in the “10-2” dynamic.
More details on the employee retention plan.
What’s the issue with employee retention? Do they have some expiring union contract or something?
George wanted a raise.
All the Pac-12 staff that actually do the work of running things are trying to jump to other jobs and they need to try and keep as many as they can so they can operate this year.
Easy solution: put a Beaver (or a Coug) on it
Also, George and the executives at the conference all get a raise and sweet golden parachute… to afford a thrid house in Montana, or whatever.
Thanks. Reporting on the actual details has been scant. Most articles about the hearing were just rehashing everything that has already happened.
The other 10 would argue that is OSU/WSU announcing they are leaving the “Pac12”
I joke, but it wouldn’t surprise me either
Just put an X over the 1.
WTF.
It’s probably fair to say Brenda is going to need a new job soon
Blow job?
Jesus man. WTF indeed……
I think everyone that has paid attention knew she was a grifter and she thought she would never get exposed. Got a feeling that her grift is about to be over and she won’t be heard from again for a while.
She’s nuts. Man hater.
Does she still hang out at train stations?
I find it sort of interesting that Canzano hasn’t done one of his 5-page editorials defending Brenda Tracy yet. Maybe it’s still coming, but this seems more like the problems of a couple of messed up adults than anything to do with college sports.
“It wasn’t miss conduct. It was miss tracy”
Maybe Canzano is scared she’ll pull some type of similar shit with him when the time is right?
She’s officially toxic and nobody will want to have her on campus again
He’s already halfway through writing a 4 part exposè on his pay sight about it I’m sure.
It’s difficult to hang up the phone with one hand on the cooter.
Might be an unpopular opinion. She’s a fraud, an attention whore and trash.
Not what she claims to be.
A willing participant (sometimes) but perpetual victim.
Will defend ANYONE that claims to be a sexual assault victim without any evidence whatsoever or waiting for any facts to come out.
Bitch knows nothing about personal accountability.
I tend to agree.
That’s always been my take on her.
MSU probably hired her so that could get out of his contract.
Pretty clever if true. Tracy’s reign of menace!
I’m not disagreeing with you about Tucker. He’s made his own bed an has to lie in it.
But I also firmly believe that any man that would allow her to get that close to him is an absolute fool.
I delete my texts all the time. Don’t like clutter. They should be recoverable, though…seems like a lazy investigation.
I mean would anyone be surprised?
“I did not have sexual relations with that woman…”
and coaching either at bama, or lsu in a year or two
Smith Week 3 Press Conference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHmGdgqxQaY&ab_channel=BeaverBlitzVideo
Who cares? He’s a football nerd. Did Bill Bellichek’s charismatic personality win him all those Super Bowl’s?
That’s the thing though. Bellichek’s grumpiness was his personality.
Bellichek’s cheating was his personality.
The grumpiness was just how it manifested.
Imagine having the greatest QB of all time, and you feel compelled to surreptitiously film an opponent’s practices.
There are plenty of coaches with personality whose personality is annoying.
He talks that way on purpose.
Go ahead and discount him like Notre Dame did in the fiesta bowl
he’ll rip your head off
Not discounting him
He was well trained by Peterson
Or:
Maybe that is just how he happens to comes across as during press conferences. (O.o)
What’s more important in my mind is:
How is he in the living room, with the family of a highly desired recruit?
How is he in the locker room at half time, at the end of regulation, and before overtime?
How is he each day in practice?
When he has one on one meetings with players in his office?
With members of his coaching staff & coworkers?
Well put…
The Beavrecruiting Twitter gets plugged in a yahoo sports article. Nice.
https://sports.yahoo.com/ll-never-guess-where-george-193916279.html
Why couldn’t your dad have pulled out sooner? Smfh
Jesus Christ, I have to save this for later.
You invoke the one guy whose dad neither put in nor pulled out.
Who are the angrybeavs that are left? Name names!
We’re all still angry, we’re just angry at the T10, ESPN, and Fox instead of the Beavs.
Lanning is one of the most overrated coach in college football right now
What exactly is there to be angry about at this point in the season? We have a qb (actually 2 qbs), we have a better defense then most thought, we have depth. The play calling on both sides of the ball have been great.
Much like the team I’ll take this season one game at a time. I don’t give a shit about Washington or Colorado or Oregon until it’s time to play them. If they start doing stupid play calling or bad player rotations then sure I’ll get angry but that hasn’t happened yet.
Isn’t Saban as dry as Smith?
I don’t understand the differentiation.
To add studentbeaver:
That’s all valuable for the community.
MUH FEELINGS
Student Beaver – I respect your game. Enjoying it much more than the usual “You suck” sledgehammer approach.
Ya larping is classy.. lol
We need to get a grass roots campaign going for the game vs WSU in Pullman.
Make it the most watched game in college football that weekend.
Not to get invited to the party. But as a fuck you parting shot
I want to get invited to the party…
Yeah that
Screw that.
The party is coming to us, and they’ll like it.
Wouldn’t be awesome if both teams walked out to the middle of the field, shook hands, called it a tie. Solidarity!
And then the Beavers ran the ball in for a 6 point victory?
yes.
More like 8. Always go for 2!
No. Due the 2 point OT rules. Each team gets 5 chances from the 2 yard line. Kind of like a soccer kick off.

Ask A Beaver Anything | Pac X TRO Hearing Report
Its pretty good, if you got time.
lays out case, and what 2pac could end up with
I know it’s early in the year but just noticed that DJ U has the second highest QBR in the nation so far.
No, no, no… he has accuracy issues.
Stop with the false hope.
I mentioned it against SJSU that we haven’t seen a play action pass yet.
So you’re saying when he has confidence in the o-scheme he’s made to run, he looks good.
We’ll probably say the same for Klubnik, until he leads SMU past Clemson, two years from now.
The footwork is a manifestation of RPO. He doesn’t yet slide like a pocket passer, but he’s at least looking really comfortable back there with some chips to go with that sandwich.
Just to be fair, Chance usually had similar stats and ratings before conference play
Chance was bad vs Boise and Frenso last year (28/50 3 TD 2 INT) and had a noodle for an arm, could see the USC game coming a mile away.
I’m a little worried our pre-league short stack of pancakes isn’t doing us much to prepare for the slate of games ahead.
It’s (almost) the SEC way….just needed to move UCCDavis to week before CW….
Someone here mentioned the shitty PA system during the game. Here’s your answer.
https://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/2023/09/reser-stadiums-dated-sound-system-could-be-replaced-before-end-of-the-2023-season.html?outputType=amp
That’s kinda embarrassing
Global supply chain issues or something.

Smith isn’t Riley, if he needs help, he’ll get it
That’s last years game, which they won 17-14 in Madison.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUXbXTmBCUo
Oh funny, i jist searched WSU/Wisconsin on youtube amd it was one of the first to come up.
Well this years OSU team should have no problem with last years WSU team.
When I saw Mauigoa in there I did a double take too, but figured they found a way to retain him. Wrong.
Back to the drawing board
Yep I agree. Beavs 56-10 vs SDSU. 38-17 vs WSU
SDSU SHOULD be an easy win. Much like SJSU they are an average MWC team at best.
Beavs roll 45-7
Yeah his kid is doing the same thing.
So he’s auditioning to be the next Geogia coach?
Texas A&M more likely

Everyone has to disrespect everyone these days. Everyone is being disrespected. One-ups-manship at every level. Then there are the people inventing ‘disrespect’ like dionne. Then there’s yucks flipping off ttech fans post game, (https://x.com/jeffrosa_/status/1701806424119238764?s=20) when do coaches get involved with player conduct. When do fans boo and jeer but not resort to racist epithets? Society man, I blame it all on social media.
\curmudgeon rant off
I just gave a link to the head coach of Georgia making up some baloney disrespect–the same guy who said after last year’s CFP CG that everyone disrespected his team, and look at them now.
Yeah, good that someone disrespected the top team in the nation so they have a chance at winning.
I see the game with San Diego is on FS1, but when I go to the guide on Sling TV there is a game with Illinois. Does anyone have any more info?
Are you looking at the right time? 3:30 EDT.
Did you look up right time? Its at 12:30PM pacific

There was an arson at the hotel in Eugene that SDSU planned on staying at the night before the game, and as a result, the entire team will stay in Portland the night before, and make the drive down to Corvallis early on game day. Which one of you is responsible ;)?
That fire was back in February, and it was one of the bums from along the river on the construction site where the hotel was doing renovations.
Those renovations are more likely why they can’t stay there.
Correction: The delay and extra renovations from the fire/smoke damage are why.

in your face Nicebeaver!!!!!
That’s gotta put me in the still angry beavs category
So, 18 then.
Never seen so many dudes excited to see a kid turn 18…
Yikes!
Haven’t seen anyone post it yet……….
Beavs are one of just nine teams that have not turned the ball over yet.
You jinxed it. DJU is going to throw his first pick against SDSU.
But Riley isn’t the coach. That is one of the many monkeys JS has thrown off of the team’s back. This is the season we get the jinx monkey off our back.
We’ve only put a TRO on the jinx monkey.
But the outlook is good.
Riley isn’t the only coach to have a team turn the ball over. We will probably turn it over eventually.
Smith said as much when they asked him about that.
Ideally, a team should run the ball until the opposing defense proves they can stop it.
It still matters at the end of games, when we figure out their offense and their defense is sagging, due to getting beat up by the run all game.
…their defense is sagging, due to getting beat up by the run all game.
Yup
#19StraightRuns don’t lie
You could have just written
“SDSU is coached by Brady Hoke. Nuff said”
You also have to say Rocky Long is at Syracuse.
He’s Hoke’s past success.
East Coast Bias?

I’m so confused.
It’s nice the beavs are getting talked about outside benton county.
hell, they’re talking about the Beavers clear up in Polk county…
Well yeah… WOU’s head soccer coach is the husband of our new volleyball coach… who looks like a great hire, btw.
Barnard was a giant douche, anyone should be able to do better, but yeah definitely positive trajectory
OT: BT a victim again? She didn’t want all the publicity, it was all leaked, leaked I tell you! Something fishy about this chick…
https://x.com/brendatracy24/status/1701760584604065793?s=20
I hope Mel kept the text messages.
Neither of them wanted the truth to be exposed, so I’m pretty sure both deleted their texts.
Can we just stick to OSU?
Why give her oxygen, if you don’t want to hear her?
Check out this thing: https://portland.craigslist.org/clc/cto/d/west-linn-ultimate-osu-tailgater/7665507749.html
I wonder if he realized no more worthwhile games and thus tailgating once we’re in the MWC???
“Regardless of what conference OSU ends up in – our hope is someone else will have great memories!”
But we don’t want to risk it???
One would figure that if the kids are graduated now, they would have plenty of time to attend games…..
The deal would definitely help those schools grow and recruit better but none of them are ever going to be on par with the ducks facility wise just because of uncle Phil.
i think I saw where the MWC pays 4M to each school, but Boise state gets 8M.
Yeah they get a bigger chunk, never did see how much bigger. Gonzaga had a similar deal with the WCC.
It’ll bee a master move if the PAC can keep Hawaii for football and pry Gonzaga in for basketball and baseball.
Hell if Air Force is coming I’d make a run at Navy too.
I’m expecting a big10 offer with full voting and revenue. I think this will be the offer that osu/wsu take to accept settlement from lawsuit
What? You think the Big10 is taking WSU and OSU?
About a 0.01% chance, but I’m on board with the thought- let’s do it
https://youtu.be/zMRrNY0pxfM?si=3sbITcG4LKdlvJQc
Exactly- not gonna lie the enthusiasm etc. behind wsu and osu would go sky high. But it ain’t gonna happen dude.
We going mw merger and it’ll suck. And that’s where this chapter will end
I doubt they care. They probably burned everything.
Well then, I wonder if the destruction of public property/evidence carries a sentence.
They’re send correspondence through snapchat?
“They do not want discovery.”
Agreed. It will provide meaningful leverage.
You’re high.
I expect this settlement to happen during the discovery phase of lawsuits.
Here is the YouTube video that is referenced above
https://youtu.be/6tpjx1hekIE?si=yYBCMh7YGIQcMVwe
Dam, you beat me to the link, although, I don’t know if this attorney is the same one that was referenced on the radio show? Perhaps it is.
Yes, he is
Man, I’ve got that bookmarked from a couple of days ago, sounds like a good watch.
These schemes would win in the Big if the talent is there on the lines, and speed on DLine…
Yes! Even if it takes a few years to come up to speed with a newly built conference.
No need for change. Beating plenty of good teams just running the ball.
Ugh!
Not collusion–cartelization.
Collusion is price-fixing. While it is a type of cartelization, the one we’re dealing with would be bid-rigging.
I hope his assessments are correct. This sounds tremendous and even justice-like…
Now I’m optimistic about a more stable, near term future at least. College football will implode eventually, but IF Beavs can force a good settlement, they can continue to progress under Smith and get a few hood bowl wins.
Except Smith won’t be here, so there’s that…
WOW. you really are going to beat that Smith leaving narrative to death, aren’t you? Not even 3 games into the season and its already getting old.
Well he’s not, so I might as well get people ready so they’re not devastated.
I hope with all my heart that this is how is plays out.
Beavs baseball with a ’24 commit today from Catcher, Kai Halstead. Was a Stanford commit so I wonder if the fallout is beginning for them. He’s from WA so perhaps he wasn’t too keen on playing games in Dallas…as a best case scenario.
Check out BoatyMcBeaver on twitter
He seems to know his shit.
And it seems to also add a selling point to recruits and their families…you can actually travel easily to see your kiddo play.
Regional footprint
Respects SA and their families
Actual college sports not faux pseudo minor league
Morally not shitheads
Giant bags of cash
Seems almost too good to be true but I like it
Except the other stuff precludes giant bags of cash.
A week 0 game and a week 1 game on Sunday would be great.
A Wednesday night game wouldn’t be a terrible idea either, so long as they have a bye before.
Exactly.
*don’t
Just got notice our area is getting ziply fiber.
The whole PNW will be super-connected, in a matter of years.
Philomath is getting fiber, even rurally…Corvallis only has it in a couple of places? Maybe someday
Lots of drunken assholes will be on I-5 Saturday. Be careful out there
And one sober one!
Moving to equal distribution would have pissed off USC and UCLA.
https://blogs.mercurynews.com/collegesports/2010/08/12/pac-10-football-conference-revenue-and-per-school-distribution-figures/
“The more you were on TV the more you made”
And who controlled which teams were on TV? That’s an obvious way for the rich to get richer.
I really don’t understand why the networks wouldn’t want parity in college sports. It makes for much more entertainment. Complete domination by 6 teams across the whole country is boring af.
Found another article talking about expanding from 10 teams. It says that Colorado’s move came in large part to discussion of equal sharing.
https://bleacherreport.com/articles/405659-pac-10-expansion-inside-the-board-room
Anybody care to share the jist of this Mercury News/Wilner story? Supposed to talk about Kliavkoffs strategy and what he’s been up to
https://twitter.com/wilnerhotline/status/1702384468701618564
Seems like he’s trying to find ways to sidestep those pesky bylaws and do what he can for whoever will give him more money to screw over whoever he can. But that’s just my opinion and I didn’t read the article.
Not a fan of Wilner. Seems always to be anti OSU.
To sum up, GK is a complete fucking idiot and disaster as commissioner, thanks.
First order of business once the dust settles on the court case is to fire that dumbshit.
Always remember that it was UO administrators who pushed for GK. He came from Las Vegas and likely has had “help” with his decisions.
Really? I’ve seen the same written about ASU and WSU.
Assuming the dust does settle to the cougs and beavs, could he be fired for malfeasance and not have be paid the remainder of his contract?
They’ll need to make sure they research what constitutes cause for firing so it passes legal muster. Not sure it’s quite there.
More likely, the give him a severance package.
Just when you thought Larry Scott couldn’t be topped. GK said hold my beer.
Uh oh, looks like CSU @ CU game is personal…
Not that the game was going to be close anyway, but now that it’s “personal”, look out!
The ducks are going to absolutely hammer them next week.
After seeing the yucks at TT last week, I’m not sure it won’t be the other way around.
It’s at Autzen
I’ll bet it’s going to be “personal”.
Just read this, accurate?
A statistical analysis of Colorado does not match the media hype.
Total defense: 111th
Rush defense: 125th
Pass defense: 53rd
Total sacks defense: 104th
Total TFL’s defense: 125th
Passing offense: 2nd
Total offense: 15th
Rushing offense: 123rd
Seems like uh, not that great. Did I just make it personal ?
The odds of an inexplicable upset this weekend has gone up exponentially!!
The double rodent wil be “in da house” at Reser with my toxic bad luck. Sorry guys!
You should go out and tailgate during the first quarter and then come back in to see the end.
See ya there, BeeG.
Is it time OSU and WSU to negotiate with Apple for a new type of streaming deal and create the future by partnering with NVidia in some way too?
I fucking hope so.
The problem is, at this point, there are only two teams. What value does Apple see in a two team conference?
Exactly. We don’t have much leverage when it’s just 2 teams that the other networks didn’t want.
Hope i’m proven wrong
One big unknown is just what typea of votes were USC amd UCLA excluded from? Was it only media deal business, or was there any other business that USC/UCLA were forbidden to take part in?
And did the conference formally forbid those teams from participating, or did they just willingly skip those meetings, knowing the other 10 schools still had quarum to conduct business without 2 schools present?
Big piece of evidence is the letter sent to Colorado by the PAC12 explicitly telling them they lost their voting rights. Have to wonder if USC/UCLA got a similar letter.
Is that letter something that has been posted anywhere? I’d be interested to see it
That’s the critical point.
I’m pretty sure I’ve read more than one report that they haven’t been to a Board meeting, since they gave notice.
The coming anti-trust suit and several appeals with high-powered lawyers begging to work for free to take up the case.
Completely wrong.
That snippet in isolation means nothing. Elsewhere in the bylaws does/should speak to what happens under that “event of default” if you will.
Sorry, ”withdrawl” is a noun. In this case it is the state of being withdrawn.
But how can you give notice of being withdrawn in the future?
Oh… wait.
You give notice that you will be withdrawn at some date in the future.
Obviously, that’s completely different than a notice of withdrawal.
They can’t even make it a circular argument.
They’re presenting arguments which require a hope the judge didn’t pass fifth grade English, if this is it.
It’s a nice thought.
But why not let them help remake a whole new Conference? Have the “rural folk” be better connected to the world than the others.
At this point, hiding behind a $3 trillion company sounds like maybe I could get some rest from all this.

George:
What a cock sucker.
George “simply cannot accept” the bylaws. Great statement Georgie, well put.
Can’t wait to see more emails from this jack ass.
Friend of mine, Duck grad and fan, says MSU may come after Smith now that Mel Tucker must call Brenda Tracy on his own dime.
Rumors flying already…
I’ve seen Jonathan’s name floated in two articles but there are many more lists where he is not included. So who knows.
I’ve seen Jonathan’s name floated in two articles but there are many more lists where he is not included. So who knows.
Bound to happen. Those who have bags, throw bags. (Even some that don’t.)
Of course a Duck fan is going to say that
I’m not worried about MSU at all. JS won’t go to Midwest. My prediction is that JS will be next next coach at USC when LR leaves.
uSAToday – games you should watch this weekend:
“No. 17 Oregon State
MATCHUP/TIME/TV: vs.

It’s good info but first I have to transcribe the shorthand. TIL SOD = stopped on downs
i like reading the steele report
I look forward to “Star” posting it.
I have a buddy that’s a coug fan and has been following everything real close and probably can get him to come on here if u want.
A kind of hype video around the realignment.

Anyone else think Lanning is going to underperform @ $7.5M/yr, maybe drop 3 games?
I think everyone.
Smart guy getting paid. Whenever Oregonian has a head coach opening an unproven coordinator/coach must get really excited.
We can’t make tomorrow’s game have one ticket available if anyone here looking for a single,
I’d love to go, is this still available??

Malachi Durant had another 3 td night. Sure hope the Beavs can keep his commitment. He’s had a few big games already this season.
I don’t think the notion that Beavs would dominate MWC is realistic and in fact they would probably get destroyed by Fresno, BSU, and SDSU more often than not
I don’t want to go to the MWC but why would we get destroyed by the likes of Fresno, BSU, and SDSU?
definite no to the mwc, beavs would no longer be a destination, it would be a stepping stone
?
Destroyed?
Seriously?
Osu and wsu to B12 rumor starting to heat up on twitter.
It would really suck to just roll over and take it from TV.
So anti-climatic.
Nick Dashel tweeted about it a couple days ago. They will be doing both games from the studio. Kind of takes away from the game if you ask me.
Just watch it live and you’ll never know
Game thread is scheduled to post at 10am.
Seeing picks online of Game Day in Boulder of several OSU flags and WSU flags along with a couple of signs. That nice to see.
Will be attending this one; looking forward to seeing the rebuild. See you!
