Tough one for me, but go beavs!
I expect a better effort at last, but USCB isn’t bad. I think Sunday’s loss was due to flight fatigue and early start.

That’s not for another week! I guess the early beav gets the worm?
UCSB took the ducks to OT in Eugene last night before falling 82-78

But yes, this game isn’t until the 30th
Go Beavs! Would be nice to have some momentum going into the CW
Anyone have a Ukranian stream for watching tonight?
OSU looks to be in trouble tonight.
UCSB look well coached. Beavers are going to have to shoot the ball tonight to stay in the game.
This is probably what conference play will look like…
It’s becoming a joke how Duvivier can’t finish drives.
Wow, awesome run.
Gill seems to be heating up, too. Biggest crowd yet?
Looks like more lower level seats are filled.
There aren’t any additional plugins required other than Flash.
The additional plugin required message is probably a trick to try to get you to download some kind of malware on these types of sites. They are a little sketch.
You should be able to click the “X” on them though and they will close.
I use adblock and ghostery browser add ons, but you should just be able to click the “X” on any adds and the stream should load in ~20 seconds.
You gotta like the moxie of Tinkle’s team. We haven’t seen many Beaver teams come back from 16 down.
Yup. I was just hoping they could get the deficit to single digits by halftime but they stormed back and took the lead!
Beavs are losing some momentum now. They are trying too hard to get another foul on Williams and not playing like they were.
It turns out that was a good strategy. Tinkle adjusted to take the ball at Williams, and it worked because Reid, Robbins and Olaf were all willing to take it to him and were the only ones making shots and FTs during some stretches.
I was afraid we were going to be blown out early. UCSB was facing pretty tough D from us and still hitting lousy perimeter shots late in the clock. And we couldn’t buy a bucket. And the refs were doing nobody a favor, but they were leaning toward them early. Once adjustments were made and Tinks played to the refs, we started to settle down and grind it out.
That was pretty much our best game yet in terms of facing adversity from all sides and gutting it out… except it was at home. We do that on the road, and we know we’ve arrived.
Without looking at the stats, our back court was impressive in every phase except for early shooting and a couple dry spells in the second half. But LMW kept pushing, Duvivier kept his handle solid, and GP2 waited for the game to come to him. There may not be a lot of experience on this roster. But there is a lot of discipline, maturity and toughness. Those are the most important ingredients that make up talent. The flashy parts of talent will come to them if they keep working like this.
That being said, I don’t see good things on the road yet. The fans really did help out last night. And the team responded. I’m really surprised at how intelligent our fans are sometimes. There were a couple plays which were obviously called wrong, and our fans were grumbling immediately on each of the calls. But it wasn’t like some games in the last couple years where there was going to be a full on riot (with a couple of these same refs running their games). We grumbled and waited for our coach and players to respond… and they did.
I also watched the broadcast version last night and this morning. The announcers were very complimentary of Corvallis and OSU. That was rather nice… and truthful.
I guess it didn’t hurt that Lamar was one of the announcers. Still, there was no, “Well, it’s just tough to recruit to Corvallis, blah blah blah.”
Not that Lamar has ever done that. But his sidekick has done it in the past, and he didn’t argue on air. It sounds like the narrative is being driven home by Tinks in those pre-game talks with the network guys.
We’ll know if the narrative really changes when we go to UCLA and we hear Walton wax poetic about hanging out in Portland and loving his time hanging out in a certain pizza parlor… smoking something in a dark corner.
That was some poor officiating, tough break for Gomis.
It seems like Payton could take some of these guys off of the dribble with his quickness. Almost too unselfish at times.
Beavs up 65-54, 3:12 left. Sweep the leg! Finish them!!!!!
Team Tinkle does it again :-D
Final Score 76-64 Beavs
I’m having a hard time processing a Beaver team who make their free throws when they count and actually pull away in the last three minutes, but I’m getting used to it.
This is the type of team that’s easy to get behind… And not just because they wear the right colors.
That just sounds all sorts of wrong.
That was fun to watch (again). I didn’t watch one basketball game last year. Now I can’t wait for the next one.
UCSB shot 50%, but the Beavs won the turnover battle big and also at the foul line. I like the fact that they won “differently” tonight. They will have to win P-12 games like this because most the teams in the league aren’t going to shoot 33% from the field game after game.
I’ve looked at the conference schedule multiple times. There’s a few games that I think could go either way, but my guess is 7-11 in conference play. With 4 of those coming against Wazzu and USC. Other wins I see, Colorado at home, Ducks at home and ASU at home. I wavered on UCLA at home and think that one is winnable as well. But I’ll stick to 7 wins. If they can do that I’d be satisfied. Anything more would be icing on the cake. And 16 wins in WT’s first season would be nothing to be ashamed about heading into the conference tourney. And on the plus side, we could play in the Craig Robinson Invitational again, I mean the CBI.
Also I gotta say this and give some props to Olaf. I said he was a wasted schollie. Dude is proving me to be wrong. He’s a key cog in the team wheel. Keep rolling big fella
Spitnagel and Harris in the same game?
You knew it was going to be a FT fest and leaning toward the most vocal coach.
Not that I’ve ever seen those refs… ummm… ref before.
They were fucking atrocious!
Wow! Just now watching the Gomis sequence on TV. Live, it looked like he was caught by an illegal pick where the guy who fouled him got what he deserved… an unsuspecting player running into an illegal pick.
On tape… it looks pretty much that way.
Tom Spitznagel and Vern Harris? How many more times do we have to put up with them?
Aaaaaaaand… now we will lose every game reffed by these two morns… from here until the end of time.
With the talent coming in, I actually really wonder who loses playing time next year. So many guys are playing well that out of the 8 rotation guys only N’Diaye isn’t doing that much. Even Reid is pleasantly surprising me, Robbins’ shot is falling when he follows through, and Schaf is becoming a legitimate stretch 4 that is useful in a press break scenario.
