2pm. It looks like no television again.

I’m going to the game, so if I see anything interesting I’ll post live. Otherwise I’m going to get away from tech for a few hours and enjoy real life.

Go Beavs.

  1. Just saw that Gomis was cleared for practice and will be with the team today. I say give him a few minutes a half just to get him acclimated and a little run. Can’t wait to see him and Eubanks together in the front court by the time conference play starts.

  2. I just got hit with the dreaded “honey do” so I might miss the basketball game and some or all of the football game.

So I’ll say it now: GO BEAVS!!!!

Please root them on for me folks.

  3. Up by 7 after all that isn’t so bad on the road on short rest. Our perimeter shooting is absolutely stellar right now. We got some firepower and weathered the storm. And that Drew Eubanks dunk was nasty. He went over a guy. Man he’s (gonna be) fun to watch.

        • idk I haven’t bothered to look. I’m listening on the radio and for now watching the football debacle. Probably turn it off after the first quarter. How in the fuck can this team look so noncompetitive 11 games in. This looks just like the Pettibone years revisited. Have many of these guys just mailed it in? On UW’s first TD the WR wasn’t even covered and was all by himself in the end zone. Disgusted. I know Riley left the cupboard pretty bare and the Beavs would not be very good this season but I expected better than this.

    • Because last year we bled the clock on offense as long as possible to help keep the other team out of rhythm and and games lower scoring

    • I have a theory. It’s completely about chemistry. Last year, everyone on the team had to buy in to defense at the same time; they all learned at the same pace. They all had to communicate and started to understand where everyone would be.

In getting the new talent in there, they have more depth and more rotations and have more pieces to communicate. In addition, the older guys understand the defensive concepts much better while the young guys still have to come along. Plus, they aren’t on the same page just because of time spent in the system. The communication and “sixth sense” is off right now.

Remember, our guys had good defense that became great. Over the course of 31 games. We’re only 4 games into our season, and they are progressing nicely. I think they need all the non-con games to work out the bugs and miscommunication.

  4. Good job of the team getting a run going. They are playing well and starting to jell. I’m seeing it on defense. By Pac-12 play, they should be firing on all cylinders. I’m glad they are seeing that if they play great D they can run all they want.

  5. Team looks young and out of control when GPII comes out. Olaf being a liability as usual. Tough to watch. He’s gonna single handedly cost us a couple games this year if he keeps getting time.

    • If Olaf could shoot 40-45% from three point land, he would have value, but he continually misses wide open looks. I can’t believe WT said he played a good game against Iona in the post game presser. It’s not what I saw.

  6. Punt return for TD, 21-0 with still 5 minutes left in the first quarter. Why even bother to show up guys? Is this going to be as bad as 2 years ago against UW? Fucking pathetic

  7. I was watching the Ohio State game, turned to check out the beavs, see punt return for TD…turned it back.

I just cant watch us play anymore. I’m really disheartened by this year. I mean, I knew it was going to be rough, but not this bad.

    • I’m not impressed either but remember there’s not a Pac-12 caliber level QB on the roster. Hopefully with Darrell Garretson next year the offense will look better. Plus the players will have more experience in the system.

    • I’m not impressed either. I don’t know whats going on behind the scenes but Ive seen some pretty obvious player mismanagement and just seems like hes flailing away without any clear game plan each week.

I know GS’s mindset is to be a defensive powerhouse in time, but I really don’t think that will fly in the Pac12 even with good (if not great) talent.

  8. Wow, that sequence was the season in a microcosm……speed guy somehow gets caught from behind, semi-screwed by the P-12 refs, two penalties, missed FG…….no points after the best run of the year.

  9. Are the guys on defense “football stupid”? Huskies have the second worst offense in the league, but they look like they could score 100 points today.

  10. Almost wish Riley had stayed another year just so that he’d be dealing with the mess he created and get totally exposed as the out to pasture slacker he became.

  11. MM must’ve fucked Andersen’s daughter, or something similar to not see any time. It is impossible that NM is a better alternative.

  12. Biggest coaching mistake of the year was deciding to burn Lucas’ redshirt. What a waste for a kid that could’ve hit the ground running (literally) as a RS freshman next year.

  13. “Right place, right time” as far as Riley leaving for Nebraska in his own words… Yeah, we’ve learned why he knew it was the “right time” to bail. That gum-chewing bastard practically stole his paycheck the last couple of years, and Bobby D let that happen.

And of course the Riley sycophants will use this season as “proof” that Riley is OMG great and OSU sucks.

    Fuck. Mike. Riley.

Mailing it in while collecting seven figures then bailing instead of working to rectify your pitiful efforts is NOT being a “nice guy”. It’s being a fucking asshole.

  14. Y’all really watch football? I told y’all the season ended on October 24th.

Anyway, I think a solid performance by the hoops squad. They still haven’t put a whole 40 minute basketball game together, but these road games are so crucial. They are true road games, and they’ve had to learn how to weather storms and get buckets when they matter. In addition, while our road opponents have been marginal at best, we are handicapping it by making the games super close together (going two time zones on less than 48 hours rest). If they can win vs Valpo on Tuesday, I have little doubt that this is a tourney quality team. That game is HUGE. Probably more important than most of our Pac-12 games, because Valpo is going to crush their Horizon League opponent competition (RPI purposes).

This team has all the tools, and depth to weather anything that might happen. It’s great if we get Jarmal or Gomis back. That could be the key to the tournament for us. But as it stands this is a good team.

  15. Fuck, I know it’s bad that Mitchell fumbled, but there were six Huskies there and no Beav blockers. What kind of fucking play was that or it was so obvious it fooled no one.

  16. So far our QBs are 1/8 passing for 1 yard. 0.125 yards per attempt. That’s insane.

10 rushes for 100 yards though. 73 of that came on one run.

  17. Caught up on the DVR. Making me nostalgic for my undergrad days watching the powerhouse Joe Avezzano squads. This is beyond shitty. They suck at everything.

  18. So does Noah Togiai get to start practicing with the basketball team immediately after the Civil War and then play in the next basketball game on December 3rd?

I assume he’ll be way behind in learning the schemes, gelling with the team, and just rusty with his basketball skills in general… How much is he expected to play this year?

  19. Do you guys even want a Washington thread?
I forgot before leaving for the hoops game.

Sounds like a brutal game. Basketball was awesome…was right under the basket when Payton dunked. Got footage of Eubanks dunk.

      • What stood out most in person was the bizarre substitution packages. Didn’t seem to be much sense to them.

Eubanks might get hurt with how hard and physical he plays. No clue why people think he is weak, but seeing him in person he is very physical away from the ball and in everything he does. Olaf true is as bad as he looks on TV. Stands around doing nothing most of the time on D, roams the perimeter on O. Steven Thompson’s legs are thinner than my arms.

  20. Eubanks had 10 points, but he didn’t seem to even get going. I think he’s best when someone drives and then dishes to him. He’s not great with bak to basket. We were out scored in paint. LMW had no points!

  21. Anyone else notice Coach yells at Tres worse than all others. That can become a toxic distraction if not corrected. Other than that, this is the best men’s basketball team since GP1
