I hope that’s just frustration and knee jerk reaction, or it is going to be a long 3 years.
Let’s summarize this real quick, then look at the “why”: the Beavers will not be good (8+ wins) until 2017.
The “why” should be obvious, but Riley recruited players for a pro offense and a 4-3 defense, and Andersen doesn’t run either. So the process is going to go like this:
Year 1 — Gary Andersen assesses what he has by playing games, then recruits to the immediate needs. His first recruiting class (2015) recruiting class bulks up and learns the system.
Mostly he has done this by loading up on defense, but I do think he went too light on QBs. Let’s remember he came in and had an immediate dead period, so this year is his first true recruiting cycle.
Year 2 — During the offseason, if he hasn’t already, he’ll sit down with guys and let them know where they stand (i.e. likely that they won’t be playing/don’t fit the system). Those guys will transfer. This is likely why we saw the open scholarships jump from 12 to 25. Starting in February, almost half the roster should be GA’s. At that point he can make progress quicker. But those players still need to bulk up and grow, along with his 2015 class.
Year 3 (2017) — His recruits finally are at the phase where they’re read to contribute. This is the earliest a reasonable fan can expect to see good teams, though they will still be young.
That’s it. It takes years to filter out the old recruits and rebuild the system. Riley is having an epic failure by Nebraska standards partially for this same reason. He is trying to run a pro offense with guys who don’t run that and don’t really want to run that. He also has a bunch of guys on his staff who love Bo. Riley will probably get to 8 or 9 wins at NE as he gets his guys. Same with Andersen. Some guys on this roster loved Riley, most guys don’t fit the O or D systems, etc. It takes years to fix.
Now, I did think GA would be good for a few wins and the Beavs would be at 4 or 5. So that is shocking, but when you look at the eyeball test, the players simply do not pass. To me the sign of a coaching problem is losing close games with botched management, and the sign of a talent problem is not even being competitive in games and opponents having their way. This is a talent problem, and some if it is guys love Riley and simply never bought in, despite what they may have said. I think a lot of Riley’s guys came in expecting an easy time of it and didn’t like being pushed. Some guys don’t love football, but instead view it as a means to a degree and great social life. Riley recruited these types, and they’d play for him because that was the mutual understanding. Andersen wants recruits who love football first, and then view the degree and social aspects as perks. It’s an entirely different mindset.
Think of the situation as a very slow, percolating water filtration system. Every “drop” is an Andersen guy, and eventually there will be a full cup of them, but until then, there’s poison in the well. That will take minimum of 3 years, though with JC help you never known. Also, as a benchmark, look how long it took Leach, and he’s a very good coach and pretty good recruiter. It’s not just getting your guys in and the former coaches guys out, but then it takes years to train them up to Pac-12 standards. Year 4 might be most realistic, but I think year 3 given GA will go hard after JCs and do everything in his power to make this quick. As I said prior, I think GA fails only if his coordinators let him down or he never finds his QB. Those are my concerns. If you want to talk about those, totally valid, but I don’t think getting down on GA at this point makes much sense. I mean, you can talk about it, but I won’t engage in the discussion because it just isn’t realistic expectations.
Excellent post and well said Angry! I agree those who don’t buy into the new system will transfer. Oregon State not only lacks mental toughness, they also don’t pass the eyeball test physically, especially compared to the rest of the PAC 12. Andersen just needs time to bring in his guys and plug in the holes by recruiting JC transfers to compete immediately. He already has “commits” ranked top 40 recruiting class. I’d say 25 on signing day, plus some won’t qualify, go on missions, greyshirt, also at least 10 will transfer/leave, he’ll then go after JC guys in the spring after signing day.
it was clear at this time last year that OSU football was on trajectory reminiscent of the Dee Andros era. My only regret is that we didn’t get to see a 1-11 Riley get fired, as would have been the case, which he knew. The talent gap is truly profound. My criticisms of Andersen is, like you Angry, he should have recruited/evaluated the QB situation more thoroughly, and, there’s a slight echo from the Riley regime in the case of the obviously better players not getting enough playing time or playing the right position. I think of Nall and Lucas in this regard. I mean, really, why is Storm Woods playing at all any more? I would request, Angry, as I have before, either a retrospective analysis of Riley’s last three recruiting classes so we can compare what we got with what we got,
“…he should have recruited/evaluated the QB situation more thoroughly…”
I suspect that GA relied on DB’s opinion/evaluation of the situation. If I’m right then, based on that and the play calling (and player usage) which has taken place this year, it’s my opinion that DB isn’t a Pac-12 caliber OC and needs to be replaced asap.
Didn’t Leach dump his DC after the first season? That seems to have worked well for the Cougs.
Good points. And honestly, I can’t get over the Diet Coke habit. I mean that just seems like there is something wrong with him. Plus, he just looks unhealthy and less motivated than the other coaches.
“…he should have recruited/evaluated the QB situation more thoroughly…”
Didn’t we offer a bunch of other guys and they all said no? You get to the party late enough, you’re probably going to get stuck with the ugly girl on Saturday night.
They wanted Austin Kafentzis first. They considered another kid, but they knew he wasn’t going to qualify, so they didn’t bother offering. I know they offered at least one other, can’t recall who it was, I heard at the time. Anyway, I think they knew Collins was a risk, but they simply didn’t have many options that late in the game. It’s not like they could just skip it, they had to take somebody since they immediately recognized there wasn’t anything of value on the Beavers roster last season.
I know the coaches won’t make excuses, but you can’t squeeze blood from a stone. There just wasn’t a better option.
I concur with most of this post.. The only thing shocking is the sheer amount of non competitiveness. I was expecting more “encouraging” losses like Stanford and Utah instead of the outright beat downs.
Patience is key here.
I agree that it makes no sense to start second guessing the Andersen hire. Right now I trust his philosophies, ability to motivate, and his recruiting abilities. I also think it’s a bit early to put blame on his coordinators. But I do have some reservations about Baldwin after this season. It’s hard to figure him out. He’s had moments of brilliance (e.g. the “chaos” play in redzone against Stanford), then other times he’s predictable and ultra conservative (e.g Storm Woods up the middle in the redzone yesterday). Yesterday’s offensive plays may have been influenced by Senior Day, it makes sense to give your seniors some playing time in the final home game of their college career, especially when the game doesn’t mean much. And maybe the rest of the season was just one big experiment, trying find out what certain players can do against PAC12 caliber opponents. So, I’m still going to give Baldwin a pass this year, and hope to see him show more brilliance when he has players more suited to his offense.
“He also has a bunch of guys on his staff who love Bo.”
No wonder he was OK with Dee staying in Corvallis. Those shy, quite types are always the wild ones.
Nobody on the staff worked with Bo… So this statement made no sense lol
I’m curious. How many players are on the injured list? How many of those are out for the season? 52 players are either true freshman or redshirt freshman as well. Perspective.
It has occurred to me (not too seriously) that at least a small percentage of OSU’s numerous football injuries might be like the well-known, self-inflicted injuries in WW1 – anything to get out of the mess.
Tuned in to the last part of the Cougs’ win – announcer raving about another Gabe Marks amazing catch – Falk was out – so I looked up Gabe Marks on the WSU website. My mental image of Gabe Marks was, well, definitely not a tall, skinny someone who was named to Jewish Sports Review’s All-America Team.
16 on injured list last week and most were starters.
Thing is your coach hates all of you. He is overpaid, obviously. Seems weird that all you guys worship your coach like he’s the Fonz or something. How does he repay? How about strings of blowout losses and players that quit.
On that show your team is on the guy comes across as a clueless a-hole. Not sure but guessing that’s at least partly true as the losses pile up and you see the staff and player mismanagement.
He’s damaged goods. The Wisconsin situation was hilarious. He was hated by the fans there. He doesn’t seem at all respected in the industry either.
Good luck in the Oregon Civil War. You’ll need luck and half the other team to no show. And then you still might lose. I didn’t think it was possible to hire a dumber looking coach than Oregon but Oregon State somehow found a way.
Holy hell your whole state is going down the tubes.
Don’t worry though, your #6 spot in the North will be ready for you next year. And we’ll make sure a #10-#12 spot will be there in basketball for you. Just like every season.
How abysmal is the athletics tradition at Oregon State? Jesus Christ!
UW was 0-12 in the recent past, and you will get blown out by a backups backup in the apple cup. Have fun with that.
OSU was #7 in basketball last year and UW was #11. Nice try…
DAWGshit thinks #11 is just #1 twice.
0-12
Quick, name some sports that UW is better at besides football this year? MBB, WBB, Baseball, Lacrosse? Nope UW sucks at all those sports… Hmmmm maybe quibage? Enjoy “shit”attle shit head!
“What is volleyball for one hundred Alex.”
Here’s something you need to understand about college football…unless you compete ON A REGULAR BASIS for division titles or top tier bowl games, it’s all kind of irrelevant fucking around. For you to come on here and bash the Beaver program while your Fuskies are 5-6 is bizarre and a time waster on your part. Get a North title, go at least 10-2 and then come back and shove your shit in our face. My gut tells me you probably won’t see that type of record any time soon.
There are no highs unless you hit bottom brother
ga’s not a.bad dude, he and his wife are a lot of fun, and he will coach them up
Q: What’s the problem with Oregon?
A: California sucks, and Washington blows.
Honestly, this is par for the course when it comes to Pac-12 rebuilds and new coaching staffs. It just sucks having to watch it.
Conference records:
WSU: 1-8 (2012), 4-5 (2013), 2-7 (2014)
Cal: 0-9 (2013), 3-6 (2014)
Colorado: 1-8 (2012), 1-8 (2013), 0-9 (2014)
Even though I think UW has a bit different circumstances due to resources, I’ll remind everyone they went 0-8 in 2004 and 0-9 (0-12 overall) in 2008. Both of those coaches were then fired of course. The following coaches went 1-7 and 4-5, respectively.
What would be reasonable expectations for next season?
I posted this in the other thread but I’ll post it here for some replies. What is the consensus on the Kongbo kid? He had UW in his top 3, I think we got played, he was just getting free shit. Thoughts?
I think he was there for UW at least as much as OSU.
Just watched our basketball teams win @ UCSB. We weren’t strong w/the ball and turned it over 13 times and got our rebounded. Not usually a recipe for success, but we shot 45% from 3 and forced quite a few steals. Good overall win given the circumstances. Big game Tuesday vs a good Valpo squad. Resumé building for tourny if we get win.
we shot 55.5% from the three
Lol my bad I mixed up with the rice game. 50% from deep in our two combined road wins!!
Ha they looked tired but got the job done
I messed up, too, when sharing with my cousin yesterday…told him we were 10-18 at the FT line instead of 13-14.
Finally the Beavs are taking Schonley’s wise saying to heart.
Stanford lost to a St Marys team last night that did not look great or very athletic or very big. St Marys seemed fairly tenacious and that was about it. Like six of their players were from Australia, which in my experience is not a b-ball hotbed. (I do recall our former center was from down under.)
I’ve counted at least six medical retirements this year, including some promising guys (Dashon Hunt); then Tanner Sanders left. Were any of those scholarships transferred to other players or are those available for 2016?
Medical retirements don’t clear a scholarship until the year is over. I believe Sanders’ scholarship went to Naji Patrick.
If GA can get some of those visiting recruits after yesterday’s slaughter then major respect for the guy. I mean being able to sell a polished turd at this point is a real gift. I guess I love polished turds myself because I still love my beavs. Just wish for GA’s sake the game was at least a little closer. Mitchell looked like the piece of corn in the turd yesterday.
I think you have stumbled onto a new nickname: Corn Palace

Seeing the struggles this season due to the transition is tough. I was just hoping to see some competitive games, even if we did lose.
It is frustrating to me to know that we were fed all this garbage from Riley and the media about not being able to recruit here. And here we have a coach in fights for better talent his first full year of recruiting.
Very impressed with Angry’s analysis. Better than what we get from the journalists that do it for pay. Anderson has a proven track record and He will get it done. This year is embarrassing to say the least but I honestly believe it will get better. The one thing that being a Beaver fan requires is patience. Once the wait is over, the reward is quite satisfying- e.g., basketball.
New JUCO DT commit
https://twitter.com/bigswoll69/status/668509190659313664
Bad sign. Probably struck out with the bigger names.
He has a criminal record.
Handsome Tanielu tweeted congrats to one of his best friends on the commitment. Could help bring Handsome in possibly?
Also, Savea’s cousin is Rocky Savea, the freshman Hawaiian LB we offered last summer as an 8th grader.
He recorded 10 tackles, .5 sack and 1 int. In 8 games.
What’s the bad sign I’m missing other than him not knowing what our university is called?
Welcome to UOS!!!!
Does anybody know, do the JUCO commits count the same against the 2016 class? Like can you sign 25 high school kids and then go over with JUCO players to fill extra spits if there’s major attrition? Or do you wait till Spring and sign them as 2017 guys?
I believe that if you qualified academically out of high school, you would count against what would have been your high school class. Timmy Hernandez is an example, he fully qualified out if HS, but had no offers. Since he’s a true freshman, he’ll count against the 2015 class. As long as that class never goes above 25 scholarships at one time, it’s totally kosher.
If you didn’t qualify out of HS, you’d count against the current class. I have no idea which of our JUCO commits qualified, other than specifically reading that Hernandez did.
I’m guessing we’ll bring in a couple more JUCO kids who count for 2015, maybe even some early enrollment guys (like what Collins did last year) that count against 2015.
-I’m guessing we’ll bring in a couple more JUCO kids who count for 2015
I should say, we could even bring in guys who fully qualified out of high school who are now sophomores, they’d count against the 2014 class.
You can sign 25 kids in a calendar year. It used to be that you could sign up to 28, but only 25 could enroll. Jucos would count as the 28/25 signed/enrolled for the previous year if less than 25 enrolled. Before that, you could sign 28 and oversign by as much as you were under 25 the year previous.
Andersen has said something to the effect of, “games are won in the January to August period”. In addition to getting his own recruits/JUCO’s and teaching the new system, it is this emphasis on training which should bring results. Seems to me the off season will not only build strength and size, it will continue the process of sifting out those who aren’t dedicated.
I think angry is right in pointing to 2017, and I’m with Doozeldorf above in giving Baldwin a pass this year.
The need for solid (not necessarily spectacular) QB play cannot be overstated, just look at the ucks without VA.
That is a good point. I think I just get frustrated hearing GA talk about how he wants a tough run first team then Baldwin has the shit show qb trying to throw the ball all over the place.
Strangely valid comparison with the hole while VA was hurt. They have Freeman and Ben Wa and all kinds of running talent but without a QB that can effectively run the entire offense they looked silly and lost. Good QB, boom right back to it.
It’s hard to run the ball when you’re playing from behind. Opposing teams are loading the box, begging OSU to throw the ball. The best running teams such as Stanford, Michigan, Etc.. Throw every now and then to keep defenses honest, to get the linebackers and safeties out of the box. I understand what you’re saying though. This year was hard, there’s no other way around it. It also makes it difficult to gain a true assessment of the new coaching staff, given the numerous injuries and asking young players to step up even if they’re not ready. Andersen is true competitor, and he’s tough! Just imagine how he feels, I would love to be a fly on the wall during his coaches meetings. Where he was given permission to speak freely. I respect how he handles adversity, and doesn’t throw his staff or players under the bus, or make excuses. He will get this thing turned around. Building a foundation in construction, or rebuilding a football team isn’t the most glamorous part of the process, yet it is the most important piece.
Did anyone notice in the comments section of the Eggers/GA article posted in the previous thread that a commenter said “Collins has asked for his release”? Insider info or just internet bullshit?
#ohwell
That’s been a lot of smoke about that, so there’s probably fire.

I think Fonzie will turn it around. It is going to take time and patience from a perturbed fan base. They will struggle next year and so will the attendance. I will be renewing my season tickets, but I am full aware that they will not be very competitive during the season next year. Fonzie has plan and a vision and I have bought into that, it just sucks that it will take a full two seasons to get the Riley Stink out of the program.
I just hope the Beavs are decent by season opener 2017, so they don’t get their asses handed to them by the Vikings. First round bye, sixth seed in the playoffs. Barnum Ball!
The only thing that would derail GA’s plan, would be if recruiting takes a hit from these massive blowouts. I am losing optimism that we can retain our current commitments. Then again we got the VFC happening…. Thoughts?
They probably sold playing time and the vision of the future, not the 2015 team
I’m sure. I just hope that these huge blowouts and empty stadiums doesn’t give them second thoughts.
Bitter irony would be that the Beavs become a basketball school again and Beavs football goes into the shitter a la Ralph Miller era.
Dont think that will happen, re football…. GA will be desperate to succeed — its his career on the line.
For future recruiting, would it be a good strategy to go for talented lower division players who can play right away ie the Vernon Adams model that O has had success with this year?
For QB, I could see that. And frankly, that might be what they have with the Utah State transfer.
so not that this comment is a reflection of any of the topics here but; once angary wrote about not caring. You see I’m at that point but I still go to the games because of the experience of just going. Sure you know they will lose mid way in the first qtr as it took U Washington less then 10:00 min to be up 21-0. So at some point in the game you give up cheering. But I do try to keep my son involved in the game
All right, I was peering over the Andersen-wagen railing before, but replanted firmly on :) (wagen, get it? Ahahaha)
I think we’ve known for a little while the players Riley left can’t beat an even mediocre opponent. Unfortunately, the players have recently realized this, too.
Just play hard and what more can you ask for… I was reading a Cal blog and was reminded of their 1-11 transition season with all the injuries. Guess we’re doing better than that.
Agree with your points, Angry.
I was surprised that the cupboard was so bare. I mean Riley had 5 NFL draftees this year, same number as the Ducks. I didn’t think they were going to sink to the Colorado level, but OSU is the new CU in the conference. But, I guess everything needs to be pushed back a year. So, hopefully 4-5 wins and more competitive play next year.
With that said, I was probably overly-optimistic about Andersen. One successful year at Utah State, and maintaining the status quo for 2 years at Wisconsin does not necessarily mean he is a great coach. Though, I am still very glad the Beavers have him, and he would still have been my first choice for a replacement.
Agree, Angry. Good analysis, imo.
The consistant failure of the D to stop anyone means no talent there. Same with the O. No decent QB on the scene. All of that on Riley, new GA system or not.
But not convinced Riley will get it together and get success at NU. He has talent there right now, and manages to lose winning performances. We’ll see….
offtopic (hoops related)
Oregon beat Valparaiso 73-67 this afternoon. Valparaiso is a very good team that returned everyone from last season (they won 28 games) and this will be a good test to find out exactly where the Beavs are Tuesday evening.
http://espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=400818901
Unfortunately, Oregon looks to be very good again also. If Nikegon had any morals that fucker Altman would be unemployed.
I think an interesting question is this:
Do you blame GA and staff for not playing to the “strengths” of this team, assuming they have any, and instead forcing their philosophy.
On one hand, it almost guarantees a loss, which we are seeing. But on the other, it says “this is the way we do things” and sets the foundation for their own recruits in the program.
I’m not really sure. I can see the logic in both. I think longer term GA’s approach of forcing the issue is probably better because it means all the young guys have this year under their belt and understand how it’s going to be. What would they have won by playing to the team’s strengths, an extra game or two? Pretty meaningless and short term. So for all the anger at Baldwin, I’m not sure it matters. That’s how he wants to run an offense and that’s how he’s going to do it. Seems this year basically became tryouts to see who could and couldn’t run the schemes.
This debate could probably makeup an entire thread. Maybe I’ll do that after the Civil War.
I don’t know, is it much of a debate? In hindsight, did the team have any strengths? You’re a 5-7 team on a downward trend, losing most of a bad defense and a long starting senior QB.
They need to teach to their strengths, not teach to the strengths of the inmates. Now they know what the weaknesses are with respect to the players’ strengths and how they can fit in the new system. I’m thinking we see a bunch of players in different positions in the spring compared to last spring. We’ve certainly seen a lot of it already.
The fastest way back to success is finding an elite QB that fits in the system they want to run.
The thing that I am most disappointed in the coaching staff is that it doesn’t appear that anyone on the team had a good year. Some guys had some spurts but no one had any lasting success. Usually a team will have at least one guy having a good year but that didn’t happen.
Beavs can win the civil war if Vernon Adams jams his finger again or whatever the heck he did
beavs open as 33-1/2 point dogs for the civil bore. Sounds too low to me with the direction both teams are trending
They actually opened at 30, so it’s going up, as it should.
Again, I don’t know if it would have changed the record, but it seems like the coaching staff or someone on the coaching staff threw their eggs into the Seth Collins basket pretty early in the process. Kind of like they were sure they had found Chuckie Keeton part two and in reality they had not.
Evaluation slip ups at that level for that position raise a little doubt in my mind.. Maybe they didn’t think they were going to need to pass the ball? That they ever had Nick Mitchell at 1B is laughable, just from the standpoint that his mechanics are so poor, the coaching staff had to see that, right?
Generally GA is a good coach and will get this program competitive. What frustrates me particularly are the unforced errors in the qb succession. GA is now talking about wanting a qb who can throw accurately and doesn’t want a running qb because of injury risk. He was talking mind/legs/arm before the season and started Collins. ??? Del Rio and Kempt considered transferring their best option. Sanders got moved around until he gave up. BVV moved completely out of qb play. So, down to three qb’s before the games begin. Live and learn I guess, but perhaps McGiven (USU) could have provided a lesson on how many qb’s you might want if using a spread game with lots of qb running? I think there could have been a softer offensive transition (using upperclassmen qb’s) while still implementing strength/conditioning/”toughness”/defense scheme/etc. and won a few more games.
Well, the coaches didn’t have a lot of time to recruit a great QB. They obviously didn’t like what Riley left behind (i.e. NM and MMM), so they grabbed the first QB that was athletic and fit their system. I think we’ve seen proof that QB that they recruited was the best of the bunch. So I don’t think we can fault the coaches for doing the best they could with what they had. Now, if they don’t get the QB situation rectified next year then they deserve some major criticism.
This is an Eggers article quote from GA:
“I want to be able to be a drop-back team that can have threats at different spots, with play-action and some bells and whistles,” he says. “We’ll run the quarterback as needed, but I don’t want to be a running quarterback team. We don’t want the quarterback to carry the ball 10 to 15 times a game. If we do that, we might as well play the wishbone, and we’d better recruit six (quarterbacks), because it’s going to be real hard to keep them healthy. We are real fortunate (Collins) lasted as long as he did this year.” “…It absolutely has to be someone who can throw the ball consistently.”
Given what GA is saying now, VanderVeen would have been my projected starter this year. His prep stats were 59% c% and 463yds rushing on 5.8ypc. SC was 47% c%. Del Rio was 70% but negative rushing yards. Not saying all highschool teams are created equal, but… MMM and NM were what was left behind after McGiven’s qb derby.
I’m fine with GA for now, but the comments you quoted seem a tad disingeous after the fact. I’m too lazy to find specific quotes, but I remember more than one comment along the lines of the offense being effective in the “QB run game” from GA before the season started. Also, the comment about Collins “lasting that long” doesn’t make sense to me, Collins was injured stretching in warm ups or something, right? He was never hurt in a game.
I’m not sold on “doing the best they could with what they had.” They seemed to go into the program with fire, brimstone, a we will convert you attitude, and sinners can hit the road. I’m not sure the Beavs would have won more games, but I don’t think there would have been the major drubbings had the staff flowed more with what they inherited.
Look at how many ranked teams are playing with back-ups right now and even winning (MSU, OU, TCU, Baylor, ND,…)
At least ND and MSU have good defenses that can compensate for conservative play-calling on offense.
Need system QBs and a good O-line.
Defense needs help.
Pretty sure backups at those schools are waaaay better than ours
This team will be shitty for a long time.
that’s the spirit
older thread but dirty pot smoking hippies hating on dirty pot smoking hippies? Apparently we’re not the only ones that think Altman is a douche.
http://bearinsider.com/forums/showthread.php?81038-Dana-Altman-Scumbag
I’ll never understand how Altman survived that situation with the kid from Providence with the press conference where he stated he wasn’t aware of the “problematic” background during the recruiting process. At least it became clear to me that Canzano is powerless as a journalist, he called for Altman’s resignation and everyone just ignored him.
If you’ve coached sports in Oregon, at some point Canzani has called for your head
He’s Oregon’s Iracebeth of Crims?
Given all of the talk about the QB situation it would be interesting to get someone like Richard Mullaney’s take after the smoke has cleared if he would be open to questions from Angry. Here is a receiver who has been able to start at Alabama, so I don’t care what offense the Beavs used, they could have benefited from his talent and experience, but I’m wondering if he knew the QB situation at OSU was a dumpster fire since he went through Spring practices? His transfer was kind of blown off by most because everyone thought the receivers were such a strength. Great move on his part, but could he see what was on the horizon?
That would be interesting, but I think he would be smart enough to not burn bridges and not be totally candid.
Spot on. He would say something like this: I loved my time at Oregon State, I’m ever grateful to Coach Riley and the staff there. I’ll always be a Beaver and wish Coach Andersen and the team well, but I wanted a new experience and decided to move on.
Sure that’s what we would expect, but Angry has been able to get some interesting responses in the past.
Totes McGoats
Pay no attention to that Keith Kostol. He’s an imposter!
you can tell by his beady little eyes and dastardly mustache
I’m sure Mullaney knew no one would be able to get him the ball.
Paisa Savea trying to get that 4* DT Handsome Tanielu to come to OSU:
“It happened fast,” Savea said. “Handsome told them (OSU coaches) about me and showed them my film that I had just posted. I love Coach Andersen and knew Coach Sitake from when I was in high school here in Utah.”
“Handsome and I play really well together, and I’m trying to get him to go to Oregon State with me,” he said. “One of my favorite players also played at Snow and at Oregon State. Do you remember Stephen Paea,” he asked.
Maybe the Beavs have a legit shot? The coaches probably wouldn’t have taken Savea if they didn’t know they had a good shot at Handsome.
“,,,The coaches probably wouldn’t have taken Savea if they didn’t know they had a good shot at Handsome….”
FWIW I remember folks saying the only reason the Beavs signed James Rodgers is they were hoping that that would convince Jacquizz to also go to OSU. It turned out that signing James was a steal whether or not Jacquizz went to OSU.
Until proven otherwise I’m thinking the team needs DT’s and Paisa Savea was offered because the coaches believe he can do the job.
I see your point. It just seems really odd to offer Savea who only played 8 games, and produced 10 tackles, 0.5 sacks and 1 int. I know we need DT help, but maybe I’m just reading into it too much. I guess we’ll find out.
Sorry I barked more than I should have. I was out of line so I’ve removed that paragraph.
Here’s hoping Handsome and Savea both end up in Corvallis. God knows the Beavs could use them.
No problem! I am keeping my hopes up as well. At the very least we get some depth on the DL.
Love the avatar mexibeav.
Nobody said anything about Quon and Quizz. Did you even hear the Langsdorf story in James’ frosh year when everyone was gushing all over him? The, “You’re just interested in James because you want Quizz,” thing was a part of that story.
Angry — I sent you a private email but it bounced. Please email me when you get a chance.
Good post, Angry! We need good assessments like that to put everything in perspective. I too was optimistic that we’d get at least 4 wins, and after getting through the first 4 games I felt that this program was making some real strides. There were a lot of positives from those games for me to hold onto and smile about. But these last two home games really didn’t give me much (standing in the rain after a four hour drive to get there and then watch us get shut out; didn’t make the UW game due to being sick) to hang a hat on.
I still dream about that first drive against Michigan and the ensuing sack-fumble-recovery.
For those worried the bad team would = losing recruits:
Perhaps it may surprise some that Rufai’s inquiry wasn’t about the on-field product at Oregon State. That, he said, is not even remotely a concern.
“Not at all, because if you’re a smart recruit you look at what’s going to be and not what is,” he said. “I’d say the same thing even if Oregon State was at the opposite end of the spectrum.”
From Rufai.
Thompson said the same things to me, but added it depends on the recruit, but most don’t care.
Who knew recruits had minds of their own?
I guess this is the point that kills me about Pollyanna. Everything in the OP is intuitive. It shouldn’t even have to be said out loud. Everything Rufai says is intuitive. It’s who sells the program and the school. It’s the atmosphere they create. It’s not about neat deals and finding your identity. Being a part of a team sport always allows for those on a personal level. But being a part of a successful one also demands you subvert yourself first, then create them within the team’s identity.
Being mediocre or worse is a cumulative effect of a lack of faith from the program’s leadership. The team takes on the identity provided by said leadership, no matter how many tired cliches saying otherwise are stated.
And PSAs know this. They are most often the best players on successful teams. They know what that NCAA coach is selling because they had to buy their HS coaches’ pitches first.
I find the new pitch very refreshing. First of all it’s true. That makes it easy to be honest. OSU and Corvallis are an easy sell for anyone who doesn’t need an airport to be happy. Anyone who says otherwise is dishonest, ignorant, trolling or any mix of the three.
But we still need a QB.
There is also the possibility of kids joining a good team for the wrong reasons. Some kids feel like they don’t have to work as hard if they are part of a team that is already established as “good”. But if you’re joining a team that sucks right now you know you’ll have to work hard just like the rest of your teammates. But if you all have a common goal and trust your coach, and believe In “the cause” then you are more likely to succeed.
That’s awesome, I read Handsome and a good visit and Kongobo (sp)? enjoyed his trip as well.
Maybe we get Handsome with a package deal but long shot with King Kongbo imo. Btw, when does an OV actually say the visit sucked?
They usually stay silent so chatter is good imo
Looks like Les Miles and his coaching staff are going to be fired at LSU. Any chance on poaching a recruit or two from their best-in-the-nation recruiting class?
Ouch. Who is available to replace him?
I’m gonna guess they go after Gary Patterson first. Then they go after a bunch of connected (Jimbo Fisher) or high level mids. After everyone gets their obligatory extension and/or pay raise, they end up with Jeff Tedford.
One name comes to mind….Lane Kiffin.
Mike Riley!
He would be the first coach in history fired after the first 5 games.
Miles is going to laugh all the way to the bank. With all the jobs open he will score big time.
The Hat at USC would be interesting. He does do some dumb shit occasionally, but I think he is an entertaing character. There are too few left in CFB.
It’s amazing how the coaching carousel works. If WVU does not get upset by Pitt in 07, LSU does not play in and win the BCS. MIles almost for certain gets hired at Michigan. Instead Rich Rod gets rewarded for choking at Pitt and Michigan makes one of the worst “fit” hires in history. The hillbilly to the country club.
Miles could choose from 2 other SEC jobs. South Carolina and maybe Georgia. They’d pay just as much as LSU.
I don’t really care about LSU or Miles. I almost care about ripple effects. is one of those effects MacIntyre getting fired so they can make room for Miles? Miles has a $15m buyout that is reportedly not a problem. Fuck ’em. Pay Miles half his current salary and let him coach in a much more geographically inspiring place, even if it’s devoid of flavorful foods.
I can just hear Miles wax about the flatirons between his reading of the stats and comments ensuing.
Ed Orgeron. He’s on the LSU staff and is a Louisiana native. Big time recruiter and did have some success as USC’s interim head coach after 3 terrible years at Ole Miss.
I bet if GA had stayed this year at Wiscy, his name would be high up on the list.
I feel bad for the guy in that regard.
I don’t think those big time pressure cooker programs are GA’s deal.
I’m not saying he would have taken the job, but you know his name would have be on a lot of lists unless Wisconsin imploded this year under his command.
True
If he knew what he knows now, I bet he would be willing to deal with the pressure cooker :) I think he would have gone, regardless, to get his hands on all that raw athleticism.
How much?
100% agree with the post, and what I’ve been telling my friends to talk them down off the ledge.
Next week will be a long one though… Think Ducks break the century mark?
Any chance we’ve been sandbagging since we lost bowl eligibility to rope a dope those zero’s? (A glimpse into my ever positive/wishful inner monologue)
Gina saying SC will return to practice this week, as a WR. Could also play in the Civil War.
Maybe it’s so he can see what it’s like to be on the other end of bad passes
From a layman’s perspective that just seems bizarre. He’s the best QB by far, he can get injured running routes or blocking. Either start him at QB or why bother suiting him up at this point? And didn’t GA say he was done for the season a week or so ago, something about seeing him at January workouts? All of this QB shit is the one thing that as given me pause. Clean it up by year three or I’m out!
Maybe it’s a chance for him to tryout that position for a week before he decides if he wants to transfer out and look for another team that would give him more playing time at qb next year?
Does Garretson have two years of eligibility remaining?
Yes, but keep in mind Garretson would have been the third string QB on what turned out to be a very average Mountain West team if he had stayed at Utah State. I’m not pinning my hopes of a miracle on him.
If I were the backup QB, I’d be milking that for as long as I could.
Go to a bar and everyone would buy you drinks because the coach wouldn’t put you in even if the starter sucked.
“Garretson would have been the third string QB on what turned out to be a very average Mountain West team if he had stayed at Utah State.”
He was 2nd string as a sophomore, only behind Chuckie Keeton.
This is the box score from the game Keeton got hurt.
http://espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=400547831
Garretson started games 4 through 8 that year until he got hurt. Kent Myers started the rest, so I don’t see any reason Myers would have beaten him out this year.
Yeah, I am drooling over Garretson’s 2014 numbers.
http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/stats/_/id/550720/darell-garretson
Small sample, but with that production Beavs can do some things. Let’s hope he translates. 6ft is pretty short.
VA seems to pull it off.
If true, kind of seems like they are giving up on the situation for this year with the reality that none of the current QBs can be the starting QB next year.
He should play whoever gives us a chance to win, that’s Seth
Well, QBs don’t get temporarily moved to wide receiver. Looks like we have seen the end of Seth at QB, except for the possibility of wildcat….
I think the hyperextended knee was a codeword for suspended several games for being a bitch
I honestly would expect to see Collins at QB at some point in the Civil War. Mitchell and McMaryion will get pulled again.
Does anyone know why they don’t use Nall more? When they run power run plays for him, he’s getting extra yards by himself. Those kinds of plays set up shorter 2nd and 3rd downs. He had his one splash game and then disappeared. Doesn’t appear hurt or anything.
And it ain’t saying a lot, but Collins throws a better long ball than Mitchell.
If you can answer why Nall isn’t used more, it would be worth a headline in Sporting News especially after Andersen’s comments following the “break-out game.”
I thought “War Daddy” implied increased responsibility and a call to action, I was incorrect in my interpetation of that phrase by GA.
Nall suffered a concussion against UCLA, so I believe they’re easing him back into the rotation.
Best avatar ever!! Love Mr. Henky. JB
And he Loves you
He was injured and just came back to get pummeled by the dawgs
At this point, would anyone be shocked if the “Collins at WR” line was a smoke screen and he wound up starting at QB? Not like GA has been upfront about anything QB-related from day 1.
Or, lining up in the backfield every play and taking handoffs/throwing passes liberally? That formation is the best we’ve looked all year- why not?
Just hopeless optimism, but seems like there could be something to the “sandbagging” thought for the last few weeks. Like this is the game where we pull out all the stops and sell out for the CW win. Collins could be a part of that, and maybe this is the week where Nall finally sees a full workload.
FWIW – the sandbagging idea is the only thing that gives the CW a modicum of interest. In any case, we’ll know by about 5 minutes in.
I’m morbidly curious if this OSU defense gives up more than 800 yards…but not curious enough to watch.
UO’s D is bad enough there should be a few plays for Nall, Lucas, maybe Villamin, Collins. Storm has usually ran well against them, around 6 YPC I think.
UO school record is 777 yards set against Cal this season. Our defense is worse than Cal’s…
Is the D-1 record still the 1,000 yards plus by Houston? I think they did it to “death penalty” era SMU back in the late 80’s or early 90’s. God, that would be the ultimate embarassment if that record falls.
And OSU gave up over 1,400 yards in the two games prior to UW, correct?
Freeman, Carrington, et al could go crazy and wish for a longer field. If OSU does its usual three-and-outs and punts well, the yards will be there for UO. They might go over 900 if Helfrich feels the need to impress some bowl committee.
The Beavers matador defense should contribute as well
Civil War spread up to 34.5. That has to be a record for that game.
UCLA had Hawaiian 4* center Toleafoa Sean Auwae de-commit today. Apparently he visited Vanderbilt over the weekend. He also had Oregon State among his top 5 a few months ago, before suddenly making his verbal commitment to UCLA. Hoping he gives the Beavs an official visit.
Also caught wind yesterday of another 2016 4* guy who wants to set up an official visit with OSU. Plays WR.
Based on a twitter post by Auwae I wouldn’t be surprised if he and Arizona commit Michael Eletise end up at the same school.
That post is from June
A lot of that seems to be speculative in nature. Point of fact is this the first time OSU football has been unwatchable sense Pettibone. That starts and ends with the head coach.
Actually some of Pettibone’s teams were a lot more “watchable” then what i’ve seen this season.
Thanks for your kind words regarding my “watchable” teams. I’m going to make an exception and send you two pieces of 1995 Beaver memorabilia…thinking a nice game jersey. Almost all the jerseys are torn in front from cleat marks and the backs are indelibly grass stained, but still serviceable, enjoy. JB
Thanks for your kind words. It would make a lot of since to give me the job back, with an apology. It would show some common since. JB
PS: Autographed picture on the way to you. Susy says to waive the $75 shipping and handling, as she wants to get rid of what she calls “all that crap.”
You won four games with an incompetent offense, but a defense that played with it’s hair on fire. Giving up only 239 points for an 11 games season looks pretty nice right now.
Right. The last one.
Back to the social justice warriors, check out what they are up to at Amherst.
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/nov/13/amherst-college-students-protest-free-speech-flier/
Nothing like a bunch of spoiled children.
I’m leaving college soon, and every now and then, I feel a twinge of sadness about that. I think about all the friends I’ll be leaving, the beautiful town of Corvallis that I won’t see on a daily basis anymore, and the professors I will no longer be able to drop in to talk to on office hours.
Then, I see stories like this, and think “Yeah, better get out as soon as I can before this crap comes to OSU.”
it’s already happening in Oregon. Allegedly twice at Lewis and Clark this week. I would not be surprised if neither assault really even happened
http://www.thecollegefix.com/post/20532/
I knew lying about oppression on campus was bad, but that list of yours just made me lose all my faith in my generation.
So a handful of dumb people (if true) are representative of the whole? I’m sure I can find a handful of dumb people doing dumb stuff in any demographic. Are they then representative of the whole of their respective demographic?
You guys do realize that all the whining about PC this or that is precisely the same deflection as those you complain about. Do you not? It’s all a bunch of whiny wails into the void… while performing self-flagellation and thinking you’re patting yourself on the back.
But don’t let me stop your formation of original thoughts that I have never ever heard before.
I heard about the first complaint that happened at LC in the paper yesterday, it happened at some reflection pool on campus at 3am if I read the article correctly? What caught my attention was that the police were still trying to verify the assault and some time had lapsed between when the attack was reported and the time of the event.
The student who posted racist FB posts against himself was at some reflection pool?
Wtf are you guys talking about? Does any of this make sense to you?
I don’t see the events you think you reference with that link. Are you sure you have the right link?
I didn’t link what allegedly happened at L and C. I was commenting that I wouldn’t be surprised if neither events even happened and linked to the numerous other hoaxes that have happened on college campuses. The alleged L and C events are all over oregonlive. I think you can handle researching that yourself
First, you can’t pawn your laziness off on… whatever you pawn your laziness off on.
Second, did you know and understand each of the stories you think are hoaxes because a website that has “fix” in the name told you so?
Third, are you going to be so cynical that you think nothing will bring the world back from the edge… the so pointedly pointed edge… that sharp thing… yea, that which might be sharp… maybe the point where we can say a geographical feature is a cliff… or a sharp stone outcrop.
Anyway, what were we talking about?
I’m sure the fact they’re hoaxes got due attention in the mainstream media. Not.
Why would they?
Equally dumb stuff that would counterpoint this dumb stuff doesn’t get reported on a daily basis. So what the fuck is your point?
I always thought interesting stories were told by themselves. I am now a complete cynic due to the posts I see on this site.
I lie. These are juvenile thoughts. There’s not a whiff of thought in them. But there are words.
Good luck to you.
Please, you cannot believe there isn’t a complete bias in what narratives are reported in the mainstream media.
Of course I can’t. But to believe the media isn’t a corporate entity only dealing fluff and never reporting anything that isn’t propaganda for their corporate media sponsors would be childish.
Oh yeah… leebral media… it’s gonna get us and something.
That’s when I know density is increasing.
I say call their bluff and let them go on hunger strike. Who is anyone to stop these fine social justice warriors from self-destructing in the name of political correctness and groupthink?
Yup, if they want socialism, give it to them hardcore style.
Public service announcement:
Don’t hire anyone from an elite liberal arts college. After all, they are apparently all infected with cis-everythingism and who knows what other horrible things. And that’s according to the students themselves! My word, they sound awful! Let us thank these brave souls for sounding the alarm on their shameful institutions.
Case in point.
If you missed that, this would be non-SJW rallying the non-troops in order to be egalitarian… against something.
I wish I had mirrors for each of them.
You need to look up the word “facetious”.
But let’s be serious for a second:
There are some legitimate injustices in society deserving of attention. What amazes me (among other things) is how increasingly nowadays when someone says something the PC crowd doesn’t like, the response isn’t debate or writing dissent. No, it’s more and more go batshit crazy and make all sorts of over the top demands and go on the general warpath.
Who does what?
Are you listening to the smallest of voices and making them your story? I don’t go bananas over anything Trump or Carson or any of the whackadoodles say and then bring those objections to this place. That would be a disingenuous starting point for a conversation. Crying foul over Mitzy Harrylegs doing a sit-in because someone said a mean word somewhere is just missing the forest for the moss on the back of one of the trees. It also gives validity to her actions.
I mean, I guess it would be cool if we could say that college kids do weird, dumb and sometimes brilliant and normal stuff. But we should really stick to that rally of 10 in the quad holding signs. They speak for the whole of campus and are making my day sad.
In almost every aspect of culture, other countries copy America. It is rather amusing to see American students copy Latin American culture. This current university protest movement is a complete rip off of the student protest movement from Chile and other countries from two or three years ago. Demands for free education and social justice are right out of the playbook. Camilla Vallejo should get a licensing fee and/or royalties from Missou, Amhearst, Ithaca and Clark Lewis.
Um… did you read the links in the article itself?
The “Washington Times” should be an indicator of yellow journalism immediately. But this is just ass-fucking the truth until blood comes from a stone created by the paper reporting.
It’s a fucking troll. It is in support of precisely the opposite of those the paper and you all think it supports. It is actually pretty good. I’m somewhat impressed.
edit: When I say it’s pretty good, I say that because they are not trying to hide what I just said. They’re just counting on people to rote freak.
Can we please get back to long form birth certificate arguments? I want to know if they would burn if Apollo missions crashed into them on a day begun by Bilderbergs putting the sun into orbit.
kick their asses out!
What are you going to do with the rest of their bodies?
Andersen’s presser today.

17:50 mark, good stuff.
Media did a good job on the Qs. It’s great not having Schnell.
Should I start a political blog? My rage is growing over all this stuff. I’m ready to fight a real Civil War.
meh. they’ll get bored and go away eventually. Just like the 99 percenters or whatever they called themselves. The trick is to completely ignore them and don’t even listen to their stupid “demands”. Oh, you’re going on a hunger strike? Sounds like a you problem. Now watch as I eat this juicy burger from my office window while you sit outside hungry and cold.
99% is just the dumbest name ever. I mean, it’s more like 99.8%. But I guess that doean’t make a good slogan… or logo… or whatever.
Fact is it’s not .2% against the world. .2% can pay some peeps to be on their side. And they should. They got theirs by stealing. No honor among thieves.
Besides that, there is always an 18% on the fundamentalist end of the spectrum. No matter what you say to them, you can’t win. Polls show this 18% crosses religions and populations. They are the lowest common denominator. They are human, if only their words and actions said they weren’t parrots.
Ahhh… but just link all the links I’ve linked to prove my guano loco ideas. I’m sure there are some around here somewhere. Oh! Here’s one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBLuHJ1ltVQ
I just have to say that it’s quite interesting that this music is being celebrated nowadays when many of us celebrated it upon release. In this case, it was 20 years ago. But it was a celebration built on history.
It really seems hipsters are monopolizing the love for such things. It’s like I was always wrong until I was suddenly right. Then I was wrong for questioning why I was wrong five seconds ago.
Poor me. How will I carry on in the face of constant stupidity?
Why? Or what exactly are you talking about? I don’t watch the news so I’m in the dark
Just go with it for now. It will all become clear when you reach the seventh level of star-planet interplanetary stardom… for normal people too.
If you want to, yes. It would give you an outlet to put your political rage instead of on this blog lol.
You’ve already said you dedicate less time to this site because of increased allocation of time to music, so would you have time for another blog. It would probably be more interesting than football.
If you can balance it with your time in music and other interests, yes.
Yes time is the major problem. I need some interns! Scotty what you up to [besides chasing tail]?
Scotty, remember Monica Lewinsky.
My mom was an intern, and my dad was her mentor actually. It works out sometimes…you know, as long as there isn’t cheating or congress involved…and it’s the 70’s
For better or worse, not much female involvement my line of work.
Scotty is trying to distance himself from political and social crap, ironically :)
Trying.
Do you know the definition of irony?
Rain on my wedding day? No. Jack not commenting a single time on a thread about incoherent ranting commenters if one appeared? Yep!
You made the incoherent part count.
Id much rather you start a separate political blog than pollute this one with nonsense.
Well it wouldn’t be nonsense. It would be truth/awesome, just like everything else I write.
The truth is rarely awesome. In fact, it’s usually rather mundane.
Not that I would know anything of mundanity.
Wayne Tinkle is calling out beaver nation………………
Entering perhaps his team’s final leg of an 11-day stretch with five games, the second-year coach made sure to offer a challenge of his own to the Oregon State home crowd that has not reached 4,600 in either of the Beavers’ first two games at Gill Coliseum.
“Hopefully we get better than 4600,” Tinkle said. “I really want to challenge Beaver Nation to come out. I know it’s a Tuesday, but what the heck else are you going to do?”
http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2015/11/oregon_state_basketball_buildi.html
Sadly, I’m going to a Thanksgiving dinner that day, so I won’t be able to stay the entire game. I definitely plan on staying the entire time for Loyola and Nevada though!
4,600 shouldn’t be hard for a 4-0 team vs a good opponent. It will be embarrassing if the fans can’t make it happen. How much are tickets?
$18 for bench seats. I may not be able to go as my youngest was throwing up all day so I may have to eat them or sell them
I may have to sit this one out as well, supposed to be bad weather so not sure I want to do an over and back from Central OR tomorrow.
I’ll be there with my wife. Hoping that at least 4599 others show up.
Sounds like Seth Collins is suddenly not injured and will play WR this week.
Hallelujah, it’s a Civil War miracle .
While I think its great that he can play, (And I love the WR/dual QB potential) But why are they talking about it? Keep the yappers shut for 5 more days and the whole thing could’ve been a surprise.
Who’s going to complete a pass to him?!? Will Seth lay out for an inaccurate pass that might leave him vulnerable to a closing defender? Might be a good opportunity for him to develop some empathy…
McMaryion to Collins for a TD would be hilarious, given the vigorous debate earlier this year.
I would genuinely laugh.
Seth will launch the ball, hurdle a couple ducks, and then catch the ball himself and run for a TD.
Kinda like jumping off a skateboard, over a car and landing on the skateboard again?
Some of my hope in seeing Collins at WR lies in the belief that he won’t be cut from the same cloth as bolden and co. As in he might actually catch balls that would otherwise hit a different receiver in the facemask, numbers or squarely in the hands.
I’m guessing we’ll see a lot of screen passes.
Fly sweep.
Seems like I heard GA call it the “jet sweep”, not that it matters…
Pumped to get to 5-0 tomorrow. These Beavs are salty!
Should be an interesting game. I feel like they’ll lose this one but can’t pinpoint why.
Because Valpo is a very good, cohesive team returning most of their firepower from a 28-6 season that culminated with narrowly losing to a good Maryland squad. Ranked 4th mid major by College Insider. 27th in the nation on KenPom. They are a problem. And they’ll be pissed about losing on Sunday.
They are on the same level as hole right now, and they are lucky (as are we) that they got that as a home game. I’d be very surprised to see us win with how our defense is right now. I won’t be disappointed with a loss if it’s a couple missed shots here and there and a couple freshman lapses. But if they can come together defensively they might pull it out.
Because you think Nikegon is good, and they beat Iona by a similar amount.
The first is correct, but Nikegon played a really poor game. They got lucky. That’s not to say Valpo won’t make the same second half push and hold on against us. It’s to say that’s what their stock is in. Our let up is the 10:00 mark in each half, lasting about four to six minutes. If their one big (Peters?) is in foul trouble early, they can mail it in.
They’ll win if they can weather the run that Valpo makes in the second half. The seniors have been great about stepping up and stopping runs in the 2nd half.
The second biggest thing they’ll need to do is rebound. Give up no second chance points.
Because Valpo is really good but the average beav fan is gonna assume this will be a cakewalk against some no name smaller school on a Tursday and nobody will show up. Gonna be a huge test for Eubanks to see if he can stay out of foul trouble against a legit frontcourt
Beavs first real test of the season, I expect a nail-biter…
We’re salty, all right!
Line is -3.5, over/under 134
I’m putting undue emotional emphasis on the basketball team, sadly reminiscent of my years at OSU 81-83…
There were no emotions undue in those years. They call it March Madness in part because of our heartbreak.
Coaches Hot Seat lighting up Riley and Shawn Eichorst again… Good times
Does he pull the upset? Spread Iowa -2 at Nebraska
Iowa is a team. Sum of the parts > the individual. Solid D. Good O-line and running game. The QB is Bobby Beathards grandson and he is a good player. The two factors that could swing it to Neb are that Iowa can’t get a decent pass rush since losing their best DE a few weeks ago and health.
Neb is coming off a bye, which is huge this time of the season and it is a short week Friday game.
This is the type of team that made Captain Kirk such a hot NFL prospect a few years back.
I heard this will be Valpo’s 7th game in 12 days. That is certainly a point in our favor. Plus we play at home. Bonus points if Gomis plays!
go beavs!
I don’t think Gomis will play, I read that they have rescinded his ability to practice.
OLive article about Gomis
http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2015/11/daniel_gomis_probably_another.html#incart_river_index
Machado and Schnell argue over whether you can or can’t recruit to Corvallis. It’s been awhile since I heard Lindsay’s voice. She sounds/looks like she had already eaten a few Thankgiving dinners prior to to the taping.
http://www.csnnw.com/beavers/andersen-selling-vision-recruiting-well?guid=v4YkPiiObkutqVfdWuUdV0Dhi94s_jV3
Schnell classing it up! S-I hair/wardrobe account?!?
Who won?
It’s amazing what a good photographer can do, check her pic at the top of her twitter page; she actually looks decent there. Of course, that may be several pounds ago.
As to BlackBandits question below, does she hate GA or Corvallis; I think she hates Corvallis and would dislike anyone who took MR’s place if they didn’t provide extreme access and stroke her ego. But she is really hung up on the diversity thing. Again, check her pic on twitter.
BTW, Andersen did a little ego stroking of his own when Gina mentioned that she noticed Collins taking reps at WR.
She hates Corvallis because “everyone looks the same”…sounds like racism and some twisted social justice warrior bullshit to me.
Of course it is racism. And who is that brother in her twitter pic?
I took GA’s comments to Gina to be more along the line of “Damn it, why do we have to gave one reporter who actually pays attention. I was hoping to keep the Collins/WR plays a secret as we prepare for the civil war. Thanks for spoiling the surprise”
He gave her credit for having a “good eye”, but I agree that he probably wouldn’t have brought it up on his own. Oh well, maybe gives hole something else to practice for, as if that alone will make any difference.
God she is a fuking Pig
Hahahaha Lindsay is weird. She has this strange hate for Corvallis.
She just threw out random turret syndrome type claims ..
No Diversity??!
There is a surprising amount of diversity in Corvallis and this is from someone born and raised in So Cal. You just have to get out and mingle.
Maybe the local buffets lack diversity of food options?
Also, when’s the last time a recruit of any ethnicity said “that campus has too many horny white girls”?
Person 1: Corvallis and OSU are more diverse than Eugene and Nikegon if you don’t count “Californian” as diversity.
Schnell: AIRPORT!!!!
Why does the phrase “lipstick on a pig” come to mind when I see Schnell. And she hates OSU, or she hates GA, I just can’t figure out which one.
She probably hates herself and is taking out on others.
This just came to mind. Thanks for the laugh.

Someone on twitter said they want to go to the game but can’t because money is tight, so Tinks hooks them up with four tickets. How awesome is that? (I’m believing it’s Tinkle and not someone managing his twitter)
That’s pretty cool.
Gary Andersen is on twitter now.

Neat deal.

FYI #BeaverNation Coach Andersen does NOT have Twitter. Any accounts of him are fake & fictitious. #GoBeavs
I’m going to revise my resume and send it in.

TARTAN!!!!!
Just do it.
Ideation? Strikes me as real swoosh-talk.
The annual Civil War beat down looming is starting to ruin Thanksgiving week for me.
Gotta start making that i’m thankful for list earlier
I say Jim Harbaugh could’ve gone .500 with this team. But probably only Harbaugh.
