Maybe he’s just not very religious and won’t take a mission. Sometimes that happens. But I think I read somewhere he was LDS. Getting this guy and Noah would make the class pretty good given the short notice (and assuming they enroll rather than mission).
On his Twitter account it says “Future Missionary”. I don’t understand why Andersen and Co. would be going after so many likely “Mission guys”. He must have a lot of confidence in those returning?

Easier to follow too, since the most recently commented topic goes on top of the list.
Never caught on because the forum system is old fashioned and clunky… not much better than PO. This format of conversation just works better and is more elegant (IMHO).
Perhaps making a few moderators with the ability to create new posts would help. I wouldn’t mind having a post for each WBB game, but it’s probably not realistic as it seems I’m the only one here who follows WBB regularly.
I’ve been regularly following the team since the North Carolina game. I wouldn’t mind having threads dedicated to the Lady Beavs. Maybe not one for every single game, but a thread per weekend series perhaps?
I follow the women’s basketball teams, and regularly attend the home games. They are very very good and a fun team to watch. Watching them and comparing them with other teams I see on TV, I don’t see why they can’t win the whole thing this year.
Christian Folau is very close with Wisconsin RB Ula Tolutau, who is huge on Andersen and on an LDS mission. Watch for that OSU development.— Trevor Phibbs (@trevorphibbs) February 1, 2015
That is an angle Mama wrote about in her LDS post. She said it occurred to her and she’s going to start researching wiscy and Utah commits on Missions currently to see if there’s anyone worth going after.
Wikipedia says they can last anywhere from 6 to 36 months. lds.org says the recommendation is now 18 months instead of 24 months. Two years is what I had always heard.
Class is shaping up better-got to give the coaches accolades for working their butts off and salvaging what could have been a disaster of a recruiting year. Next year will give us a good idea what these coaches can really do on the recruiting front. The one thing I noticed about the commits, regardless of the number of stars, is that they seem to have interest from a lot of teams. That in itself is a good sign. We know these guys can coach. If they can get the players, we will be good.
Basketball: I think getting Robbins back should help, maybe not right away as he works back into the rotation, but he would have really helped yesterday when we are going through scoring droughts. I enjoyed how good OSU’s defense made AZ look, Miller looked like he was ready to blow. I think in the Pac12 tourney we provide a tough out if we face them.
Recruiting: Got a couple nice commits today. At this point I don’t care if some go on missions it gives the program some needed mojo. There are a couple of others that we still could get or lose so Wednesday should be interesting, too bad I will be on the road. The class should be decent, I think with the addition of Alston I would be excited.
Lady Beavs: Could this be a Final Four team?? Long ways to go but they are Orange Express and Rolling.
Possibly. ESPN’s tentative bracket would have OSU going through South Carolina to make the Final Four. Big bump in the road there, but lots of games to play yet….
Ladies trip to the evergreen state looks intriguing next week since they struggled against both at home. Only other road trip is to Utah and Colorado. Both of those games should be easy wins. Could these gals run the table in conference play??? Stanford, Cal and ASU are at home and they already thumped ASU in Tempe.
So Deltron Sands is a 3 star on every site but rivals. He has offers from GaTech, Louisville, Cincy, Wake, Maryland, and other respectable schools. His 40 time is very slow, but on tape he looks to have good speed (though not break away speed). Shifty runner and a good pass catcher. To me he looks like a prototypical 3rd down back or change of pace.
I like looking at the 247 composite rankings since it seems like it would be more accurate to look at all the major rankings instead of relying on just one.
Florida is making a late push for one of the Sunshine State’s hidden gems in the 2015 class. The Gators are gunning for Miami (Fla.) Central defensive end Keivonnis Davis, who made an early commitment to Syracuse before Oregon State was able to land his pledge last week.
I mean, if I could get a free Harvard education I’d take that over a free OSU education. From his offer list, Georgia Tech would be a better choice than OSU for engineering as well. Smart kid looking out for his long term success.
Not as such. However, a good athlete who is also a good student and can qualify for student aid/grants will receive varying amounts of money for athletics. I believe the same is true for schools like Willamette, Whitman etc., and some small mid-west colleges; St. John’s, Gustavus Adolphus etc.
I would be very surprised if Wesley Ogsbury, Denver East High School, is affording Harvard without financial aid based on his football ability – but not called an athletic scholarship.
Two things:
1. How long ago was Lewis offered… by CR?
2. You are correct about need-based grants. But there is also debt… like most college students suffer… wrongly.
Hoping for a Seahawks victory; though not emotionally invested in the game at all. I’m tired of Bilicheck and Brady, and Blount showing up again. Blount is a punk/mercenary who doesn’t necessarily earn his opportunities, he’s just far more fortunate than he deserves, both in timing and physical ability. But what the hell, 5 years after his career is over he’ll probably be broke and wind up in jail for assault or something. We’ll see if the Legion can handle his kinetic energy…
Seattle’s D, Wilson, Lynch, offer compelling match ups. I’d feel stronger about Seattle’s chances if the WRs were more dynamic – they should have moved up for Cooks : ) – and the passing game more consistently dangerous. Maybe it comes down to special teams?
I hate Blount too but can’t stand Sherman. Also Marshawn Lynch’s Rasheed Wallace “Both teams played hard my man” schtick is getting old. Reporters are just doing their jobs a-hole, they’re not preventing you from doing yours. Can’t stand any of those three. I have zero rooting interest in this game
wow. crazy ending to the super bowl. Why in the hell did Seattle throw the ball? You need one yard. Why not give it to Lynch? They would have had 3 cracks to get it in the end zone.
No doubt. Lynch in the backfield, AND a mobile QB…Super Stupid. Then the behavior after it was essentially over made the Seahawks look even more stupider..
Wow, when you see a play call that stupid you wonder about a whole “behind the scenes” world we common folks don’t have a clue about. Completely unexplainable. At least I could care less about both teams, in fact I’ll be happy when Carroll and Belichick’s time has passed. They are both a-holes on different ends of the spectrum..
I mean did Carroll have a stroke or something? Even an incompletion is a bad result because it leaves time on the clock. Maybe Carroll thought they were out of time outs??? What a bizarre ending. Also, it was a shitty route, it didn’t look like he was even in the end zone.
If I was Pete Carroll I would lie and say I thought we were out of timeouts……otherwise there is no explanation for the dumbest play call in Super Bowl History, probably NFL history.
Pete Carroll channeled his “inner Riley”. He was on the sidelines asking himself, “What would Mike Riley do in this situation? 2nd and goal at the 1, super bowl on the line. Shit, that’s right, he’s never even played for a super bowl or championship. Fuck it! Ima call a pass play!”
People are always shocked here in Portland when I say I could give two shits about the Seahawks. You see Seahawks stuff everywhere and it’s just been the last couple of years, bandwagon stupidity.
I hate having geography forced down my throat with sports teams. It doesn’t interest me. I don’t live in Seattle, but it’s just rooting for a team, so not a big deal. And by the way, I’m a Dolphins fan from way back. It’s interesting though, when I lived in SLC they showed Broncos games every week and most people could have cared less about the Broncos, they were 49ers fans because of Steve Young.
As Carroll asked Harbaugh….”what’s your deal?” after that Stanford blowout of SC……broken hearted Seahawk’s fans should be asking Carroll the same question now!
Thank god we don’t have riley recruiting for us still. I don’t care what the stars say we have a better class hands down. Andersen is the man, go beavs!
Didn’t have a rooting interest other may my Seattle and the parlay.. But that outcome really sucks for the Hawks players. Russel Wilson is getting a pass for making a bad throw, because at the end of the day there was just no way and hell they should have been passing the ball there.
Conspiracy theorist are saying PC wanted Wilson to win the MVP which is why he tried to have him throw the rock. I don’t buy that
I heard someone on the radio this morning say this in defense of the call:
“If was such a bad call, then why did Belichick prepare for it?”
I think this moron was trying to say that because Seattle had run this poor call before, enough to warrant the opposition to prepare for it, then going to the well once too often is a decent call?
Ummm… okay?
The series of events that led up to it were just as Riley-esque, btw. waste a TO on 1st. Bring in anything but your heavy package. Then blame not having your heavy package or that wasted TO for needing to pass the ball?
Good god, even if you want to throw it, roll out, throw to the outside/fade, or throw out of the back of the end zone. Russell as a threat to run it in off a roll out probably pulls somebody toward him and helps out the receivers, or maybe he does run it into the end zone.
Too funny. Pete’s going to feel like an ass all offseason and I doubt he gets back to the SB anytime soon.
I know. They have a goal lone D in, which means everyone is compressed and moving downhill, and you throw a quick, short middle slant… that we now know they were expecting?
Teams run that kind of pick play on the goal line all the time though. This wasn’t an unusual play call.
This time the Pats knew what was coming. Browner jammed the pick guy at the line and then Butler jumped the route all the way. Magnificent play by the defense.
They could have run beast mode twice since they only had one time out. He was 1/5 this season scoring a TD from the 1 yard line so it’s not necessarily a sure thing. They also didn’t want to leave even 20 seconds for Brady to potentially get into field goal range.
Passing game them a chance to score, a chance to run some clock, would stop the clock if it failed, and persevered the ability to try two more plays if necessary.
Unfortunately for them, it also opened up the chance for an INT. But I also think Wilson could have placed the ball better in a spot that had less chance to be intercepted.
It was a poor call even if it works, which it had in the past. But going to the well once too often gets the precise outcome we saw. The defender made the great play because that well had run dry. A roll-out would have created chaos in the end zone and would have left the opportunity to just huck it OOB if nothing came clear. There would have been much more opportunity with much less downside. And it would have been less expected.
But we’ve seen this play before… on a 2pat… at the end of the UW game a couple years ago.
Yeah, Carroll gave decent reasoning for calling a pass… but not that one.
After watching Lynch refuse to answer media questions, then cash in on it with commercials the next day, Sherman constantly mouthing off, and Baldwin pretending to poop a football in the end zone, I’m kind of glad they didn’t win.
Wilson deserves more blame.. You have to put the ball on the guy in that situation not lead him. Make the only chance for a pick the DB running through the WR’s body
That’s right…Butler said he knew what play they were going to run and that helped him get to the right spot. I know it was a stupid call, but it was also a poor throw by Wilson and he’s taking no heat for that. Lockette also ran a wimpy route and it looked like even if he somehow had caught the ball he may have been stopped short. What a cluster!
Thor Kotoa de-committed from Utah today. Had an official visit with the Utes this past weekend. that’s gotta sting a little for Utah.
Doug Kimmel ?@DougKimmelScout 11m11 minutes ago
2014 Utah commit Thor Katoa has decommitted from Utah following his official visit in Salt Lake City this weekend.
He de-committed when Riley left OSU. I assume Riley didn’t offer @ Nebraska and that Andersen wasn’t interested either. I think he’s a good one. It will be interesting to see what he does in Stitt’s scheme if he goes to Montana.
Was raised an Eagles fan, so as long as the Cowboys don’t win, I couldn’t care less. I did see about 20 Ducks/Seahawks clothes combos at the store yesterday, so losing two straight championship games is just what that fanbase deserves.
Predicting 7 wins next year for Oregon State with 6 possible if they lose a close winnable game. That probably lands us in the San Fran vicinity playing at Levi’s Stadium in our bowl. Andersen and Co. need to hit this 7 win mark or exceed it for a successful season IMO. Let’s see if we get one last nice recruit to add to the class on signing day. I think we might.
A bit early for predictions. There is not enough realistic or factual information on which to base a reasonable projection. There is also the issue of opposition. What do the other guys bring to the table?
Lady Beavs looking good again. Weisner could probably be PG for the men’s team. She has serious ball handling skills. Is that allowed for a woman to play on the men’s team?
Yup, notice she got the sweet 3 right after I mentioned cold shooting? If the touch returns for her we’ll see more blow outs and more time for other players to get experience.
But can a woman play on a men’s team? I never looked into it or thought about it, because usually the men are clearly better. OSU men have a unique situation with zero depth and Weise better than Malcolm D…lol
Not sure if the women could play for the men’s team. I think generally women are allowed to play “men’s” sports when their isn’t a comparable women’s sport (e.g. football).
That said, I think it would be hard for a female PG (or female in general) to play in a men’s league. The ball is a bigger and on average women have smaller hands. Also, that bigger ball makes it harder to shoot.
Hope rumor DirecTV telling customers they expect to pick up Pac-12 Networks in August is true. Conference will be sitting pretty with their 100% ownership once this happens. Oregon State will get enough to make Reser Phase 3 a reality by 2020 and get the mirrored double-deck West Side that is going to rock the Kasbah!
On Dish you get the main Pac-12 channel plus 4 alternates – all in HD. I watch multiple games a lot when they are scheduled at the same times. But when the Beavs are at home I’m in Gill.
It’s interesting that the timeouts come at almost the same time in all the games. One night watching 3 games, I’d change channel at a timeout on one and there would be commercials on the others at the same time. Seemed like it was that way the entire game(s).
Lady Beavs looking human today. They’ve hit some shots, but have played some very lethargic D. The cold starts have to end as the season starts to draw nearer the postseason.
Women’s basketball team is too real. Honestly, they play only decent and still win by 20. I legitimately believe they can make the Final Four in Tampa. Only loss is a close one in a hostile environment. It would be so nice to throw up a Final Four banner or a Pac-12 conference title banner or both, the other schools have been hogging em all.
They gotta handle this Washington trip well. Plum won’t be cold in Seattle, and Galdeira won’t let up in Pullman, plus it’ll be emotional since they lost the center in the game in Corvallis. Both UDub and Wazzu can be lethal, but Beavs take care of business and they are in amazing shape.
What’s the word on Deltron Sands? Is he a slot receiver or kind of utility back for third down? He seems to have decent high end speed. Looks faster than Quizz, but doesn’t have his power or the same kind of crazy change of direction/footwork ability.
Quizz was fast, he just never ran in a straight line. Sands on ESPN is reported at a 4.77 40. I trust those than anywhere else because it was timed at a camp and not self reported. Everyone and their mom reports 4.4 times.
Looks like a scat back, 3rd down situations type guy. Also a few years away to develop physically.
Interesting that Louisville is reaching out to Decoud today, trying to add him last minute. Looking like Sheldrick Redwine has de-committed from Louisville, but don’t think he’s interested in OSU. Decoud seems to be loving the attention that goes with signing day.
didn’t happen last time SC came to Reser. Remember Ed Orgeron and the USC players dancing on the sidelines to crank it like a chainsaw at the beginning of the 4th quarter while Riley stood, watched and chewed gum manaically?
I thought I read earlier that a kid choose USC over Division II Dixie State. Or something like that. Or maybe I dreamt it. Hydrocodone is a helluva drug. I talked to my dead grandma earlier
Reading Kearsley’s tweet, it looks like Noah will be a Beav tonight. That’s what I expected. He would be a huge get. I don’t think he’s a mission guy? Anyone confirm?
I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Beavs in the mix for a signing day surprise or two with returning Mission players, either.
Also, does Kearsley have to sit out this year? I didn’t follow that situation closely.

There’s another Katoa who looks to be on the Beavs radar, although he’s a 2017 kid. Tayler Katoa is a 3* soph QB who was recently offered by Utah, so of course our coaches are looking at the kid. Might help that his cousins are going to OSU already.
@Beavrecruiting had it’s first athlete send in his highlights link via direct message. Local 2016 kid from Central Catholic high. Had to let him know we’re not connected with the program, but good to see there’s interest.
Keep em coming.. Technically as donors (which many of us here are) we can send prospects over to the Athletic Department.. Who knows maybe we become the first step in the process for some kids.
If…. “…Oregon State is making late push for Phoenix Az. Mountain Pointe RB Paul Lucas…” does that mean someone they were after has decided to go somewhere else?
If it doesn’t it means they could have 4 RB’s in this class; unless a couple of them are going on mission.
Personally, I’d rather they had 4 DT’s in this class.
I don’t think so… Lucas was always on their radar… If anything i see this as a positive in that maybe he’s thinking about going elsewhere other than ASU… which would give us a chance… I am okay with this class, I think it’s actually an impressive class given the circumstances… and it will probably get even better tommorow
Some Riley wisdom in response to those who think recruiting Texas is a big job, “You don’t have to evaluate every kid in the state of Texas. If you go to Texas and get two guys it doesn’t seem so overwhelming.”
Simple, huh? Just go get two guys, no need to look at anyone else in the state.
Says he will be different than Pelini, ” “I’m not trying to qualify that with ‘better.’ I’m going to do stuff differently than [Pelini] does … Everything we do has a ton of thought.” Heh, heh, not necessarily better but with a “ton” of thought.
Odin’s blood! Thine tidings are glad indeed! May his thunder and lightening rage within hallowed Reser, and may he wreck Ragnarok within the putrid confines of foul Autzen!
Some do some don’t. Depends on how set they are on going on their mission. Some may think they want to go on their mission right away but change their mind. If they sign the NLI, it’ll save them a spot in the fall.
LOI is meaningless after a year and they are free to go anywhere.
Joining the Military or Church Mission – If you join the military or going on a church mission for 12 months or more after signing an NLI, you will be allowed to sign with another school without penalty.
I had heard something but wasn’t sure so I looked it up. I think the reason for signing the LOI is stated above by Bill. It just saves them a roster spot for the fall in case they decide to not go or put off their mission for whatever reason. Kids can have a change of heart anytime in 6 months
my main concern with the mission guys is most are Sitake guys too. If he leaves for a HC gig in 2 years, who’s to say they wont follow him? But that’s not a problem to worry about today.

it was gonna be tough for this coaching staff to do in 6 weeks. However, I think they did fine and this class will be comparable to any of the classes Riley ever signed. It takes time to build relationships and trust with recruits. It’s a miracle they got some of the commits they were able to do in 6 weeks. Who knows, maybe there’s a last minute surprise or two for us in store tomorrow.
I’m happy with the late additions. It’s an okay class given the conditions. But when comparing it to the rest of the conference it’s pretty depressing. Scheme and the good coaching will bump all these players up a notch, so there’s that.
I banking on the current recruits and new coaching staff being able to do more than Riley could ever do. Such a short amount of time for a new staff to build relationships for this class but many solid players will come in. I’m really hoping HC Andersen is everything he puts out there. Don’t forget the BEAVS have many good players coming back. Just need to fill in some holes and build for the Fff up Riley left us. Hope tomorrow is a solid day. GO BEAVS!
Not sure if this has been brought up before, but is the Twitter recruiting list on the front of BeaverBlitz new and a straight up copy after the BeavRecruiting account? Another example of her getting ideas from angrybeavs… https://oregonstate.rivals.com/
Calling it now, Beavs sweep the Washington schools this weekend. Cougs will probably keep it closer than they did in Pullman (beavs win by 10), but the hussies are in a free fall and the Beavs will blow them out on Sunday. 16-7 and 7-4 will look nice on Sunday afternoon. Probably not shocking to some since the Beavs are unbeaten at Gill this year
Beavs hoops anywhere from 80th to 85th in RPI depending on which site one looks at.
Granted this is over a week old, but this site projects NIT bids. Beavs would certainly be in at this point. Even after the losses in the desert last weekend. Just keep winning at home. Anything they can steal on the road is gravy
Worried that the basketball team may be “hitting the wall” this season. Tinkle has wrung more than anyone expected out of this bunch, and I think we are seeing their limits.

My pessimism runs deep!
You’ve heard about the porn chick in the library though……right?
You’re not expecting another win because of two road losses? I’ve said this so many times already, but this team isn’t going to win on the road.
The Washington St. win shows they most certainly can win on the road, but I do agree that road wins are going to be fairly rare this season.
If we can make the NIT somehow, that would be an overwhelming accomplishment.
I fully expect a sweep at Gill next weekend. Only road games they have a chance are USC and Cal
And they are both playing better than earlier in the season…
USC played really good pressure D in the first half combined with cold shooting from the Beavs. Rueck with good adjustments at the half and the Beavs are in blowout mode now. Hunter follows an outstanding defensive effort vs ASU with solid play at both ends in this one.

Beat player in this class. good get regardless of mission

Yeah I just read this:
Folau, who will serve an LDS mission, said “at the end of the day I have to do what’s best for me. That’s what I felt Oregon State was.”
So the Beavs just got a 4-star 2017 LB. Cool I guess…we’ll see in what type of shape he returns.
Wouldnt that be a 2018 LB? Or possibly play as a true freshman? The norm when I was at Utah State was that these guys would get one year under their belt and then go take the two years off. They usually left at age 19.
They changed the age from 19 to 18

I like the idea, but I’ve proposed that in the past, and it never caught on.
This is the new ab mantra: anything is possible.
Float the concept again….
I think many are following it this year since they’re so good.

That would be nice to sign some surprises who are returning from missions. Didn’t think of that angle.
That is an angle Mama wrote about in her LDS post. She said it occurred to her and she’s going to start researching wiscy and Utah commits on Missions currently to see if there’s anyone worth going after.
How long are missions typically?
Wikipedia says they can last anywhere from 6 to 36 months. lds.org says the recommendation is now 18 months instead of 24 months. Two years is what I had always heard.
18 months or 24 months, either way they are out two years of football.
Yeah, easy to see how it’s not too exciting to get commits from kids that are leaving for two years… Crazy.
So lets “Poach” the guys that are coming off missions this year….i’m sure the list is long for the BYU, Utah, Utah St. ….
FWIW – my FB recruit tracker:

Notice Tolutau has been on that list for a long while. It’s not like we didn’t know about him.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPJ_PtlIQYk
I wonder if he’d be open to changing to LB. I’d like him there more than at RB.
I’m going to need speech therapy to pronounce half these guys names.
Says bay-ah-ver-gope-her.
Sheldrick Redwine is a Louisville commit. Not Syracuse. Not that it matters since he’s not coming here. Just FYI
To the Final Four, and beyond.
Possibly. ESPN’s tentative bracket would have OSU going through South Carolina to make the Final Four. Big bump in the road there, but lots of games to play yet….
Bring on them cocks! Hehehe
Yeah, but since the ASU game they are freaking clicking on all cylinders….
Hey Verse: you see you get to root for a cat named Deltron now
http://sports.yahoo.com/oregonstate/football/recruiting/player-Deltron-Sands-155536
Now we just need Dan the Automator.
Yup!! Stoked:)
Cougs take down Stanford on the Palouse. Winning on the road in the Pac-12isn’t easy. Unless you have Arizona on your jersey
To me he looks like a prototypical 3rd down back or change of pace.
http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1407038/highlights/217116388
I’m digging our Quizz sized backs! Between Deltron and Thomas we have a good future of backs in the stable. I wonder why we can’t SJ39 sized backs?
Ricky Ortiz.
Yes.
I like looking at the 247 composite rankings since it seems like it would be more accurate to look at all the major rankings instead of relying on just one.

Keivonnis Davis previews UF visit
Florida is making a late push for one of the Sunshine State’s hidden gems in the 2015 class. The Gators are gunning for Miami (Fla.) Central defensive end Keivonnis Davis, who made an early commitment to Syracuse before Oregon State was able to land his pledge last week.
Rest of article: http://florida.247sports.com/Article/Oregon-State-DE-commit-Keivonnis-Davis-previews-Florida-visit-35195234
Probably a goner.
Based on what?
Luck O the Beavs of course! Just think it would be hard for a FL kid to turn down an offer to be a Gator.
That says something about the 2 stars that GA is getting.
No no no no no no…. we must continue to panic!!!!
If we don’t do so, they will find us.
I read that it was basically a two team race now for Alston between Nebraska and cal.
It’s Nebraska. Hope he still considers us in 2 yrs when he wants to transfer
Terrific article – apparently the young man didn’t know about OSU’s school of engineering.
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/31/sports/ncaabasketball/chris-lewis-heeds-parents-advice-in-college-decision.html?rref=sports/ncaabasketball&module=Ribbon&version=context®ion=Header&action=click&contentCollection=College%20Basketball&pgtype=article
I mean, if I could get a free Harvard education I’d take that over a free OSU education. From his offer list, Georgia Tech would be a better choice than OSU for engineering as well. Smart kid looking out for his long term success.
The ivy league does not give athletic scholarships
Not as such. However, a good athlete who is also a good student and can qualify for student aid/grants will receive varying amounts of money for athletics. I believe the same is true for schools like Willamette, Whitman etc., and some small mid-west colleges; St. John’s, Gustavus Adolphus etc.
I would be very surprised if Wesley Ogsbury, Denver East High School, is affording Harvard without financial aid based on his football ability – but not called an athletic scholarship.
http://chsaanow.com/2014-11-14/denver-easts-ogsbury-commits-harvard-football/
Two things:
1. How long ago was Lewis offered… by CR?
2. You are correct about need-based grants. But there is also debt… like most college students suffer… wrongly.
Any predictions for the Puppy Bowl?
I have zero rooting interest in this game
one team will win. The other will lose. People will cry
as for the puppy bowl, the puppies will be cute and people will go awwwww
Heh. Noticed Blount said his HS instead of Oregon. Must be embarrassed.
Last diploma?
The puppies all proudly referenced their obedience schools.
Wheaton does the same shit.
It’s okay, Markus. Riley’s gone now. You can be honest!
Haha.
wow. crazy ending to the super bowl.
It’s like I’m watching a Riley team.
Wtf?
Wow, when you see a play call that stupid you wonder about a whole “behind the scenes” world we common folks don’t have a clue about. Completely unexplainable. At least I could care less about both teams, in fact I’ll be happy when Carroll and Belichick’s time has passed. They are both a-holes on different ends of the spectrum..
Brought to you by your guest OC: Mike Riley
I came here just to say that! Seriously!
Let’s not run it in, nope nope let’s shoot it into traffic from the 1 yard line derpity derp
I mean did Carroll have a stroke or something? Even an incompletion is a bad result because it leaves time on the clock. Maybe Carroll thought they were out of time outs??? What a bizarre ending. Also, it was a shitty route, it didn’t look like he was even in the end zone.
If I’m Russell Wilson and I get that playcall, I’m vetoing it
If I was Pete Carroll I would lie and say I thought we were out of timeouts……otherwise there is no explanation for the dumbest play call in Super Bowl History, probably NFL history.
I don’t know how, but somehow Riley was involved in that playcall.
Epically stupid call.
A MR call for sure.
He is a very good liar, as all PAC fans know.
Aren’t most duck fans seahawk fans? That makes that ending doubly enjoyable. #YearofTheBeaver
No one bandwagons like a quack fan
People are always shocked here in Portland when I say I could give two shits about the Seahawks. You see Seahawks stuff everywhere and it’s just been the last couple of years, bandwagon stupidity.
Not really? I think most people (including me) root for them because they happen to be the closest team geographically.
Got an NFL team you root for?
I hate having geography forced down my throat with sports teams. It doesn’t interest me. I don’t live in Seattle, but it’s just rooting for a team, so not a big deal. And by the way, I’m a Dolphins fan from way back. It’s interesting though, when I lived in SLC they showed Broncos games every week and most people could have cared less about the Broncos, they were 49ers fans because of Steve Young.
exactly! thank you!
Brandon Browner wins a 2nd ring BTW. Hopefully they’ll take a muscle from Sherman’s jaw to repair his elbow so he will finally STFU
Did you become a fan of them when they were really good in the 70s and 80s?
The Dolphins? Yes they caught my imagination in the AFL days.
Shh, this is another way some Beaver fans can try to feel superior to Duck fans… :P
I feel the split is probably pretty equal. Lots of Mariner or Seahawk fans since there’es no Oregon MLB or NFL team.
Andersen is the man, go beavs!
but but but peer respect and bikes and water balloons…!
oh my!
That prick PC is going to get really tired of the why did you throw it question LOL!
OT – but, ha, Carroll indeed sounding like Riley:
“Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said the Seahawks didn’t have the ideal personnel on the field to run the ball. ”
Ummmm, put the right personnel on the field? Have your QB run it? Run it anyway and maybe lose a yard or two at worst?
Seahawks like Irvin and Okung expressed amazement that Seattle didn’t run the ball. Okung remarked they’d done it before out of similar packages….
Brewer, calling it the worst play call in SB history:
http://seattletimes.com/html/seahawks/2025601887_brewer02xml.html
Didn’t have a rooting interest other may my Seattle and the parlay.. But that outcome really sucks for the Hawks players. Russel Wilson is getting a pass for making a bad throw, because at the end of the day there was just no way and hell they should have been passing the ball there.
Conspiracy theorist are saying PC wanted Wilson to win the MVP which is why he tried to have him throw the rock. I don’t buy that
It was a great play by the db to jump the route and catch the ball. He knocked the WR backwards.
It’s all silly now.
On to the next sport… and next season.
Yup. A roll out should have been the call. Way less risk.
Pete is an ass, so he should feel like one.
Who the hell is giving you a negative for calling Carroll an ass…..we watch P-12 football, right?
a butt hurt seahawks fan

hero to fool in less than a second.
I thought Langsdorf was the OC with the New Yorks Giants not the Seahawks. How did I miss that one? JB
That is an awesome name for a football player.
Class should be 19 or 20. Only 6 of Riley’s commit remain today.
Is one of those 6 Jesse Sims? Because he looks like he is going to Montana.
Nah, never too early for predictions. Just know that they are about as valid as his weather forecsst for those same gamedays.
WBB: PAC12 commentator says, “here in the great Gill Col., great atmosphere”. Beavs up 1 with 13 to go in first half.
Mandy lookin good in orange!
Lady Beavs looking good again. Weisner could probably be PG for the men’s team. She has serious ball handling skills. Is that allowed for a woman to play on the men’s team?
Weise #24 handling the ball most of the time. Weisner has been killin the 3’s lately.
Eventhough Weise’s shooting has gone cold lately, they’re still the “swish sisters” to me.
That’s who I mean, Weise. She should be PG for the men.
New Mexico had a female kicker several years back I remember. Originally started out at Colorado but then later went to UNM.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katie_Hnida
The ball size is a huge factor. Its not even a close comparision.
That’s what she said.
Wiese
“She has serious ball handling skills”
I must be the only degenerate with a 6 year old mentality that laughed when I read that
Usually BeaverGopher chips in on innuendo, but you beat him to the punch.
Get the entire hell out of here lol
Hope rumor DirecTV telling customers they expect to pick up Pac-12 Networks in August is true. Conference will be sitting pretty with their 100% ownership once this happens. Oregon State will get enough to make Reser Phase 3 a reality by 2020 and get the mirrored double-deck West Side that is going to rock the Kasbah!
I’m going to miss my Ukranian bootleg gameday streams….NOT!
Mirrored double deck west side? Sharif don’t like it :-(
Stop the catbox
OSU/Corvallis getting some love from the game commentator. “Why wouldn’t you want to play here?” “Beautiful campus with lots of building going on”
They should have told MR.
Lady Basketbeavs rock :D
if they can get the sweep next weekend they have a great shot at running the table in conference. Stanford, Cal and ASU games are at Gill.
Testament to how good the Lady Beavs are that they look off on defense and still win by 20.
Quizz was not fast, he was quick.
Interesting that Louisville is reaching out to Decoud today, trying to add him last minute. Looking like Sheldrick Redwine has de-committed from Louisville, but don’t think he’s interested in OSU. Decoud seems to be loving the attention that goes with signing day.
Redwine is looking like he’ll go to Miami.
On paper, USC is putting together a really impressive class. Even with Sark, it’s fortunate we only play them every 2 out of 4 years.
Don’t they do that every year? and still manage to lose.
true, and i was still thinking as if we still had Riley at the helm. my bad. bring ’em on.
USC was the one game Riley actually prepared for.
And that was only at home. They’ve always shit the bed in the Coliseum. Hope that stops soon.
didn’t happen last time SC came to Reser. Remember Ed Orgeron and the USC players dancing on the sidelines to crank it like a chainsaw at the beginning of the 4th quarter while Riley stood, watched and chewed gum manaically?
Yeah it would be more of a story if they didn’t have a highly rated class.
I thought I read earlier that a kid choose USC over Division II Dixie State. Or something like that. Or maybe I dreamt it. Hydrocodone is a helluva drug. I talked to my dead grandma earlier
nope, i didn’t dream it
http://www.sbnation.com/college-football-recruiting/2015/2/3/7971381/porter-gustin-usc-dixie-state
Reading Kearsley’s tweet, it looks like Noah will be a Beav tonight.
I didn’t follow that situation closely.
yes Kearsely must sit out 2015

Hearing some concerning things regarding the off field character and potential eligibility/academic issues on these Katoa kids.
One reddit source called them both “ticking time bombs for whoever takes them”….
Hope not!
If le reddit army says so, it’s legit.
Seriously though, I don’t see anything about either of them on reddit.
Or did they mean ‘Krakatoa is a ticking time bomb?’ Which is true, just a matter of time before that volcano erupts.
There’s another Katoa who looks to be on the Beavs radar, although he’s a 2017 kid. Tayler Katoa is a 3* soph QB who was recently offered by Utah, so of course our coaches are looking at the kid. Might help that his cousins are going to OSU already.
This team is going to more inbred than a small town in West Virginia.
or Scio Oregon
Have you already forgotten about how having family on the team is a neat deal?
I’m trying.
What concerning things? Ticking time bombs in what way? That’s all very general and could be some jealous dork with an axe to grind.
Exactly Angry just what I was thinking… They are cousins and not brothers… and just judging by Zach’s twitter posts he seems like a humble dude.
we could use some ticking time bombs on the defensive side of the football field.
Make or break week for basketball. Wouldn’t have been if they didn’t lose to ASU.
They looked like the team that was expected to finish last. 2 wins away from a winning record though.
3 if you count the P12 tournament?
Let’s see if I did my math right,
30 games in the season. 14 wins right now plus 2 gets to 16. Even with a loss in the p12 tourney, it leaves them at a +.500 record.
Thanks! It always helps when you show your work ;)
I would have thought a numbers person could just do it in their head.
I was told there would be no math today
EDIT: I see Rivals has Lucas as a WR.
I don’t think so… Lucas was always on their radar… If anything i see this as a positive in that maybe he’s thinking about going elsewhere other than ASU… which would give us a chance… I am okay with this class, I think it’s actually an impressive class given the circumstances… and it will probably get even better tommorow
He’s being recruited by Brent Brennan, so maybe they are thinking of him as a receiver. 4.4 speed. Remind you of someone?
Haha… wouldn’t that be something… I know Brennan visited Lucas at home within the last few weeks so maybe tomorrow will be a great day!
Article says he will mostly recruit within 500 miles of Lincoln and is gonna hire a specialist to work with walk ons.
http://mweb.cbssports.com/ncaaf/writer/dennis-dodd/25021550/as-signing-day-approaches-nebraska-coach-riley-understands-expectations
Of Beav fans he says, “They were obviously ticked off at our [2014] season.”
SLOW thought…a metric ton of it…
How about just moving on and wishing him well. No need to gossip.
it’s kind of tough when you’ve been tortured for several years. Riley water boarded a lot of us beaver fans. It’s the PTSD in us
This was the best part of the article:
Different? The new coach fits in yoga each morning whether on the road or not.
“I was in Florida recruiting, I got to do it outside for two days,” he said. “That was kind of neat this time of year.”
I knew about the bike, but not the yoga.
I do wish Riley well and hope he succeeds in Nebraska.
And, I hope Gary Andersen does even better. Optimistic he does.
The Ol’ Riley distraction technique: “I’m a football coach you’ll like for non-football reasons.” Worked on the Oregon media….
sweet, we got togiai
I’m sensing a new-found heated rivalry with Utah brewing. They must hate OSU
thor katoa just announced his (expected) flip too
nice!
then Moevao tweets out “Ploy Movement!” and Simi Moala replies back “I guess I’m last in line”
So sounds like that is happening too, except pretty sure i read Moala is going on his mission next year
if all this holds it will be nice to get some last minute flips coming here instead of the other way around
Odin’s blood! Thine tidings are glad indeed! May his thunder and lightening rage within hallowed Reser, and may he wreck Ragnarok within the putrid confines of foul Autzen!
How many stars does rivals have on ragnarok?
He ought to excel in Thursday night games….Hopefully every Saturday is “Thursday/”
Shit, OSU fans could have so much fun with this at home games…
Huge deal.
Nobody seems to know if he’s mission or not, though.
Is he a better basketball or football prospect?
Football. But he’s a good basketball prospect.
should help add more depth starting next year
What happens if they all go on a Mission at the same time?
Does anyone know if recruits that go on Missions actually sign on Signing Day?
Some do some don’t. Depends on how set they are on going on their mission. Some may think they want to go on their mission right away but change their mind. If they sign the NLI, it’ll save them a spot in the fall.
LOI is meaningless after a year and they are free to go anywhere.
Joining the Military or Church Mission – If you join the military or going on a church mission for 12 months or more after signing an NLI, you will be allowed to sign with another school without penalty.
http://www.athleticscholarships.net/what-is-the-national-letter-of-intent.htm
Was not aware of that. Thank you for educating me.
Noah is not a mission guy according to my friend who is friends with his HS basketball coach. Don’t think he is LDS.

You can’t recruit to corvallis
no, but you can maniacally chew gum on the sidelines
I looked at his film, he does not look 6’5 at all unless everyone he was playing with was over 6′.
“He’s actually 6′-5″, 6’9″ with the afro”

Worst classes in the Pac:
Colorado
Beavs
Arizona
Everyone else signed a fantastic class. Beavs need better players next recruiting cycle.
I scheduled a signing day thread for 4am Pacific time.
it was gonna be tough for this coaching staff to do in 6 weeks.
Scheme and the good coaching will bump all these players up a notch, so there’s that.
agreed. Next year will be the litmus test to how GA and staff can recruit when they have the entire year to build relationships with recruits.

Anybody know how many of this class were verbals to Riley and staff?
now that’s settled…let’s discuss the “Lady Beavs”, or the “Beavlettes”, or damnit, the womens basketball team at the University of Oregon State!
