Regardless of what school Keivonnis Davis ends up choosing I can’t remember ever going toe to toe against Florida and FSU for a recruit. Good sign for our new coaching staffs ability to recruit. Should be fun to see next years class.

Hah, IMO the realistic response is that with recruiting a lot of FL athletes we will probably see some steals by the bigger FL schools from time to time.
Definitely sucks, but I think it’s just an inherent draw back of recruiting somewhere outside our normal geographical footprint.

they do mention his academic issues though, so sounds like that is a legitimate concern
I know several on here were pissed off at Wheaton for choosing to say his high school name, rather than OSU when being introduced on NFL broadcasts, but it sounds like his conversation with Paul Lucas was what swayed him to OSU, so I’d say Markus doesn’t have any personal issues with OSU.
I’m no expert. just sharing the information that’s already out there, but it doesn’t sound like there is anything new that we haven’t heard about.

So the only plus guys in the class won’t be enrolling in the fall? Lucas and Folau? I can’t recall when the Beavs signed a known non qualifier and got him back as a JC. Anyone remember if that happened?
You’re going to have to wait two years to see if that’s going to be the case now. And that’s if anyone doesn’t qualify.
Under Riley’s guidance, I don’t recall any. I don’t recall any for Erickson either, but he seemed to be the type to keep contact and bring them in as Juco transfers (not that they ever signed with his teams). To be honest, I don’t recall any of Riley’s signees who went Juco to even make an impact in the Juco ranks… except maybe Terin Solomon at Riverside. But he didn’t go anywhere in 2013 since he came to camp at OSU before he was shipped home due to grades. So 2014 was his first year.

But can we just admit this class is subpar. We lost our best recruit to UF as a backup plan and our best recruit – lucas – can only be used on certain plays. There’s some nice players in this class, but you need about 15 nice players every year. I don’t think we got that.
You have to put this class into proper context. We have a new coach with a new system. We lost 2/3 of Riley’s recruits through poaching or lack of fit. These coaches worked their asses off, in a short period of time, and at least approached what was a typical Riley recruiting year. If we have the same results next year, then I would be concerned.

On the OSU stream McGiven said Collins reminded him a lot of Chuckie Keeton. He said Collins actually looks more polished coming out of HS than Chuckie Keeton did.
We might be writing him off early since we’re used to evaluating QB’s for a pro style offense.

I’d given up on following recruiting after being disappointed for so many years by Riley’s crew. I’d gotten to the point where I wouldn’t even read the recruiting boards and would only take notice AFTER the ink was on the paper.
The Beavs lost one to MSU and another to UF. What a change having our coaches compete with the top tier schools.

These guys on Joe Beaver seem to have no clue Lucas likely won’t play at OSU. They’re talking about him like he’s going to be the star of the offense. I mean hopefully the guy gets his grades in order, but several sites say serious grade issues.
Stories today out of the Valley Football Center today talked about the coaching staff cheering really loud when Lucas’s letter came through the fax machine. Lot’s of high-fives and celebration. Also, Brennan talked about Lucas being one of, if not the fastest player recruited by any team in the country. Seems if they were so excited, that would mean they’re thinking he will be playing.
I hadn’t watched his highlight film until today actually. he really does have elite speed. really impressed with hos quickly he can go from running laterally to cutting up-field with acceleration.
Lucas was also the first visit GA made after the dead period lifted. The staff really seemed to make him a huge priority so I don’t know if I’d say it’s likely he’ll never play.
He has some chance to qualify obviously. If he didn’t, schools would not even bother recruiting him. In my super speculation, I’m guessing he’s missing required core classes for the NCAA. Probably a guy who gave no thought to school until he became a recruited athlete then realized the classes he was taking were no good to college. The staff is betting on him taking summer classes to fix that and qualify for fall term. All a guess, but seems likely to me.
I know not everyone is happy about the recruiting outcome but I’m okay with it. Short amount of time and the attempts towards bigger name recruits. I don’t know if it is because there seemed to be more information on the recruiting progress or if I just didn’t care in previous years because Riley was recruiting. But there really seemed to be a difference with this staff and honestly I don’t remember Riley pulling in so many starred players… but I don’t know. Does anyone have past recruit list that we can compare to this years to see who gathered the most starred players?
I know stars are not trusted and all but just curious if GA and crew did same or better in the month they were here compared to hip hip hooray.

Probably a guy who gave no thought to school until he became a recruited athlete then realized the classes he was taking were no good to college. The staff is betting on him taking summer classes to fix that and qualify for fall term. All a guess, but seems likely to me.
Probably doesn’t help that Lucas was trying to get help from friends on twitter with an online class. Looked like he was offering to pay for help.
Please don’t let it be the dreaded Peko English class that he needs to pass to qualify!

I know not everyone is happy about the recruiting outcome but I’m okay with it. Short amount of time and the attempts towards bigger name recruits. I don’t know if it is because there seemed to be more information on the recruiting progress or if I just didn’t care in previous years because Riley was recruiting. But there really seemed to be a difference with this staff and honestly I don’t remember Riley pulling in so many starred players… but I don’t know. Does anyone have past recruit list that we can compare to this years to see who gathered the most starred players?
I know stars are not trusted and all but just curious if GA and crew did same or better in the month they were here compared to hip hip hooray.
