General Thread

I’ve been out of the loop the past few days, and I’m trying to catch up.

Just read this article. So do we know if Sitake was at the meeting or what happened? Need a follow up from Gina. The Navy guy is going to get the job, right?

Lady Beavs dismantled CSU Bakersfield today to move to 8-0.

Haven’t kept up right recruiting of late, so props to Beaverkman and Blazer on that. AB hit 3.7 million views this week. Keep sharing links to the site if you post a comment in the Oregonian so we get a constant influx of new blood. I get nothing out of this — it’s so our voice grows stronger when we need it (right now OSU is mostly in a good spot with all the major programs).

General thread, so anything goes.

  1. Not sure the accuracy of the “source”
Gunther and Ben ?@GuntherandBen 3h3 hours ago South Salt Lake, UT
According to sources, meeting between BYU & Kalani Sitake took place yesterday (Mon) in Portland. Most likely at airport. – @Harmonwrites

  2. Somewhat of a “grudge match” Saturday when Beavs w/beavs goes against Tenn.; remember the home cookin’ the lady vols got last time around? I haven’t seen that aspect mentioned (yet) and am not surprised Rueck would be mum on the subject. Beavs should be favored, but Vols are not to be taken lightly. Should be a good game.

Lots of talk about the noise level for the field trip game today, should be good for the gals as the season and, (hopefully) post season, unfolds.

    • Is Beavs w/beavs what we’re calling the women who represent us?

I’m just trying to keep up here, because I am the personification of poor timing with this stuff.

If we need to refer to the genitalia of the women who represent our alma mater, I need to get that memo in order to make my many future references to such actually funny. I can’t just suppose that any reference to the genitalia of the women who represent my alma mater is funny just because it is.

So… let me know. Send a memo. Which ones are good? And with what frequency can I use them and not get yelled at by a bunch of bitchy whiners?

      • If I recall correctly, you can assign sore female genitalia to males, and that’s acceptable because it’s ballsy enough (see what I did there) to be politically incorrect enough to substitute for humor and wit. And you can definitely NOT care if its inappropriate because it is so….what it is…

Or you could be talking about “Beavers without Borders,” which could refer to the bisexual nature of beavers with beavers…

        Frequency variable, indeterminate.

          • Don’t even know what that means… except I do… because they’re not your words or thoughts… like you think they are… and it’s code for “blah blah blah blah blah”… which would have been funnier.

          • Jack, why are you being so sensitive? I’m not doctor, but that sounds like a 1st degree vulva sprain, unlike Collin’s 3rd degree. No surgery necessary.

          • I want people to express their own thoughts. I don’t want to hear talking points that I hear for years on end. If you express failed ideas that were and are still ideals of certain groups, I will call you out for saying verbatim the failed talking points of that certain group. I don’t care if that group is defunct. You’re iterating their stuff. Stop doing that.

My counter to you is your insistence on a consumer capitalist society, though I know you abhor such. You abhor such for good reason, but you try to argue within the language of such. It does not follow. Break away from that thought first. Then attack it.

        • I just want to start referring to the separate groups as Beavs w/beavs or Beavs w/dicks, pricks, members, tools, organs, cocks, whangs, knobs, choppers, plonkers, dongs, winkles, joysticks, peckers, John Thomases, weenies, tadgers, schlongs, pizzles or willies (willys).

I vote for either Beavs w/cocks or Beavs w/dongs… because you all know I’m all for efficiency in language. If I’m going to shorten Beavs into Beavs w/*something*, I want it to be clear and short.

Edit: Yeah… tried to watch CSI once… heard them refer to gun shot wound as GSW… never watched again. So so stupid.

          • Why is it not funny when male genitalia are the subject? I provided many alternative colloquialisms, but nary one word from a single ball-carrying pretender has come forth.

Oh where are the people with balls? Who will carry the burden of the nutless?

          • Ahhh… is this the uncomfortable counterpoint you dislike?

Make it not uncomfortable. Go ahead. I dare you.

edit: I often wonder what Texas, USF, Arky and CSU call their women. Well, I don’t wonder with UT. They call them Lady Longhorns. It’s stupid. But it’s better than Cows. It’s also better than sows or ewes. I think we got it good with the gender non-specific mascot. Everyone is a Beav.

    • Not sure if they will tomorrow or not, but we have some JUCO commits who are likely candidates plus Moran and Bradford have said they’re early enrollment candidates.

After that i like Tanielu, Simmons as potential signees, and maybe Kamilo Tongamoa? Havent heard if any of that will happen, but you can bet at least some of those names will be commits tomorrow, based on the “build the dam” tweet by coach bigelow this evening

    • Not like any of you care, but Perpetual Motion People is the best album of 2015 and better than many of years previous. I have to to let it sit and ruminate for a couple years before I proclaim sainthood. But it is so gawdam good so as to make you listen many times.

In the old days we would hve called the radio station and pretended they had control over their playlist.

      .

        • I feel like I should not respond to the obvious. But here it is, the obvious.

How am I supposed to respond or not respond to this?

          Some care. Some don’t.

You either know what I mean, or you do not… or in some weird alternate world there might be contingencies other than black and white. But don’t tell the inhabitants they have a right to their own mind. Blind them with focus groupthink garbage until they agree with you.

edit: I guess what bothers me most is that you think you speak for others.

      • For the record, Courtney Barnett’s album is about 2.4 songs deep. One of those songs is awesome. But that leaves a wake of sadness while trying to find the remainder of the effort.

But by all means, let’s make that the very high bar we should expect for the very best album of the year.

        Why not?

      • Just fyi, i appreciate the music recommendations. Been totally out of touch with current musicians the last few years but like seeing what talent is out there. Ezra Furman sounds pretty good so far. Thx

        • He’s been building and refining for a few years now. He has some hits and misses. But this album is complete and honest and fun… and really clean, even if intended to be otherwise. There are about seven solid tunes on the front end.

The lead in to Wobbly is just amazing. I’ve not heard someone take on an intro quite that way before.

Edit: And every song is quotable. I don’t run into that very much… except for Tip of a Match. That one is muddy and out of place. It’s a throwaway nod to the hangers-on who remember the old stuff with nostalgia. And it kinda sucks where it is because Ordinary Life is simply brilliant.

        • I like the music stuff, too, in a general thread, that’s fine. What I don’t understand is Jack seems to have been hacked again already. I mean this guy either does not understand PC security at all or there is something else going on. I always took him at his word that all the late night nonsensical rants were buddies he shared his account with, but now he has a new PC without that account, and it’s still the same…

          • Is it? I’ve looked back at past posts and have seen some weird stuff nobody has claimed. What I am doing now does not match that lunacy. I have always posted music as an interlude. If this is anything more than that, then I apologize on my part. But some of that has to be shared with the opposition to such.

I don’t make you press that button that makes the music go. And you know this.

          • angry, have you listened to this album?

I have to tell you my bias. I listened to the first two songs about 20 times before I went and listened to the rest of what I think is a gem. I want to rationalize Tip of a Match as an angry, muddy song where one should be in relation to the album itself… hoping it will grow on me and be the completion of my love for the album as a whole.

            What do you hear here?

          • I really liked this record. I hear a hybrid of 1950s early rock and roll, a little jazz, and a little indie (slack feel on some songs), punk (distorted vocal, etc). It’s a little too “dandy” sounding for my taste. I wish it was more raw, wish it had more soul/power to it. His vocal is nasal, which is distracting, but not a completely deal breaker. Would like some more raucous sounds. I’d give it a 5/5 if it had more power and/or soul — the white guys trying to doo wop backing vocals on some of these songs is funny. I give it a solid 3.5 or 4 because of the good melodies, feel, and it’s fun.

It suffers from some technical problems, too. Too much limiting (i.e. extreme compression to create volume, which just creates distortion and artifacts to my ear), too, which is a technical engineering problem. Rick Ruben started that and it’s only gotten worse. I literally had to turn the record down to 2 to listen to it at a comfortable level. The use of reverb on the vocal is odd, too. At times it’s too much and at times too little, and they seem opposite of how it should be. Some of the mixing is questionable, but mixing is always a subjective/taste issue so can’t harp on that too much.

            Cool record.

        • Yeah… I caught some of those vocal modulations out of place. They were appropriate for many songs, but they continued them into some of the back side where it was obvious they were trying to strip it down. And the sax sometimes seems patronizing. But then it goes discordant and ends with a purpose. So I excuse it.

It’s just a well rounded album. I like listening to it and find new fun every time.

  3. If you read anything I write and think my truth is bad… do something about it besides whine and pretend you suddenly know competition or some other fucking ridiculous thing.

If you think any sport is hard to figure out, then I don’t need you near me in real life.

And that’s likely to be for your own sanity.

      • I am home and sober.

Would you like to discuss it and prove me wrong?

edit: I have pleas out to anyone and everyone who thinks they are not of the nutless variety to come forth and make an argument. I won’t accept an A@A parlay into “why is blue yellow?” kind of garbage. But someone else has to fill that vacuum.

        • I would but to quote Andrew Dice Clay, having a discussion with you is like masturbating to a cheese grater. Slightly amusing, but mostly painful

          • You do know that you immediately prove what I rail against by quoting ADC… do you not?

Would you like me to quote ADC ad nauseum right now? You whiny bitched when I vulva’d your ass. I wonder what you would do when you saw the full of ADC’s “brilliance” in text all at once. I’d be willing to bet you wouldn’t be the fucking whiny bitch you were when what you thought was funny wasn’t funny because you fucking decided it wasn’t funny… because of not funny… or something.

But no… let’s go run down the brilliant quote list of ADC… because two hours of that is funny.

            Fucking brilliant logic, that.

Edit: Tickety-tickety fuck the hell off! That is as funny as ADC ever got.

          • And please remember this isn’t personal unless I say it’s personal. You can think so and say all the blah blah words you want. But what you say is what I am reading, not what you think. If you don’t say it, I can’t hear it.

And if you release lunacy upon my conversation, I will counter you with your own being first.

            Demons be out!

          • yeah… you are.

That was my point… that was well proven.

You guys can throw your talking points away nd try to get a mind of your own for once. The battles were lost before they were fought because you thought ideas were all about cutesy deflections like name-calling. Meanwhile, grown-ups were doing real work and made you obsolete… except for the whiny bitching remnants of the focus-group-led name calling you thought was your own clever idea but never was.

            Do try to keep up.

edit: You know what is sad on my part? I had probably five answers for every one of your posts but deleted some of them because I think you guys aren’t mature enough to discuss some of this stuff.

I ask again… please prove me wrong.

edit: instead I have to wander around in metaphors and hopefully not too sensitive a something… logic forbid an allegory… for you wonderful people who have nothing but those things as your arguments.

          • “I would but to quote Andrew Dice Clay, having a discussion with you is like masturbating to a cheese grater. Slightly amusing, but mostly painful”

I don’t get it. You do. You must, or you would not have made it the centerpiece of your brilliance.

          • That is possibly the first time you’ve been on point.

edit: You’re still wrong since angry doesn’t take my “side.” First, you have no clue what my “side” is. I generally accept that nobody here ever will know that because it’s a sports blog and people resist ideas regardless the source. That and I have never manifestoed. I have only spoken to irrational thought. Ask angry about birchers and goldbugs. Then get back to me about him being on my “side.”

edit2: That is more to say that what I think is contributed in certain conversations are not original ideas. And I will call them out. You are not the only stupid I’ve ever read. You just think you are… because it is, after all, about you.

          • Do tell us what apparent benders look like Mr. Internet Blog Doctor.

Just go ahead and get that out of your system now so we don’t have to read it later.

          • A@A, I don’t take anyone’s side, and took him at face value. He told me he shared the account with a few friends, so I figured it’s them all logging in, but now that he got a new computer from the former “hack”, I wonder if those friends are real or any of the story is real. Jack was normal for about a week after the computer hack, but now it seems exactly back to the way it was before. Fool me once?

What I don’t get is that he called the radio show and sounded normal, and he’ll go through periods on here where he’s normal. Then at 2am some nights there will be rants that you need the Rosetta Stone to decipher. Sorry Jack, but we have to keep it real, and that’s reality.

I’ve given up on trying to figure it out. I don’t think it’s ban worthy. Just odd.

          • Okay Angry, i can appreciate that. I only mentioned you taking his side as it seemed you did recently when you told him to not even bother replying to me. maybe the Holidays are hard for the lonely guy?

          • What, if anything, is AB Normal about any of these posts?

Call them out. Generalities of, “Oh my sensibilities hurt,” don’t really rise to the level of, “That guy wears a tinfoil hat.”

If they do, then what are you about?

edit: Looking at the past, there was a bunch of tinfoil hat stuff. And some of it is not claimed. Some of it I know intuitively to belong to one person. But there is a deviation recognizable in other posts. If this music stuff is just too much, say so. I’d hate to think I’m hurting pussies by posting vids.

          • A@A,

For the record, see how this aside does not interfere with the rest of the conversation? I don’t always abide, nor do I say I do. But when I don’t I am roundly criticized, more so than I am within the singular conversation I direct within this sub-thread. And that is substantial in itself.

To try to misdirect outside this one focus would be madness… something I may have been accused of once or twice. The rest is left to asking and answering pertinent subjects, something you do not and have not done. I see some semblance of intelligence there. I don’t pick on you needlessly. I just want you to use it. I think you have something to contribute besides Nuh-uh.

  4. Is BYU really going to run option football with Niumatalolo? I’m surprised that Robert Anae bolted for Virginia with Bronco, I thought he would be the successor and BYU could have had him for fairly cheap.

I also read something to the effect that Niumatalolo would be giving up a very generous high six figure lifetime pension that vests after 10 years at Navy (who knows if that is accurate?). If BYU wants him, it sounds like they will have to pay considerably more than they did for Bronco. I am wondering if the reports about Sitake not being that impressed with the interview have to do with what BYU was offering salary-wise given his generous coordinator compensation?

Hoping Sitake stays for the continuity of the OSU program, but who knows? Sounds like it’s down to two candidates and BYU really wants Niumatalolo. Maybe Sitake is also annoyed at being Plan B?

  5. We should start a prediction list of de-commits. There are always a few.
I also hope Sitake stays, simply for the continuity of message and recruiting. One of the benefits of not being in a bowl is getting a jump on the ’17 class. Diminished if GA is in hunting for a DC.

      • If a guy like Shaun Alexander (way more TDs, an MVP, and a SB appearance with only a few less yards) gets left out than no way is Jackson a HOF. If Alexander gets in (and IMO he should but don’t think he will); I might change my position.

Jackson was very very good but I think several backs that aren’t in (or likely won’t get in) have better resumes.

        • Jackson’s a “could’a” player, though no fault of his own. Imagine him with a QB and an O-Line such as Emmit Smith had….then he’d have put up the TDs….good receiver too.

I think it would be great if he ended up having a meaningful contribution in NE, and it doesn’t hurt my feelings that his opportunity comes at the expense of a punk like Blount.

        • The difference is around 4,000 yards from scrimmage. Not “a few less”, come on now. Jackson was a complete back – total different category from Alexander.

        • Shaun Alexander wasn’t as good. He was great that MVP year, but an award like that is a team effort and shouldn’t propel a guy into the HOF. Jackson was a better player on worse teams. Alexander probably had a little more speed. I’d put it this way: if Bettis is in, Jackson should be in. Bettis was the worst HOF back I have ever seen and a total “accumulator” (e.g. the Eddie Murray of football). Didn’t he average under 4 for his career? That just does not belong in any HOF.

          • Couldn’t disagree more on Alexander, he gets lots of hate because he went out of bounds but the guy was a great RB. And was out of this world in 2005 when he won MVP. The revisionist history on Alexander is what hurts him. Shaun was much better than he is given credit for. Maybe Jackson would have been better had he been in Seattle but he wasn’t so its pure speculation.

          • I agree. SA was great for the two or three years he was great. And I men to say great. He carried that team to potential greatness. He just didn’t get there. And he wasn’t a consistent back in terms of injury and production.

I think that may have been the beginning of NFL coaches looking at the position as a puzzle piece. Obviously, you want the best you can get. But the RB position is so interchangeable right now.

          • Yeah I mean if that’s the standard Terrell Davis should be in the HOF. He was more dominant than Alexander, has a Superbowl MVP and regular season MVP, much significantly higher YPC.

Both of those guys were very good backs, but part of making the HOF is playing long enough to put up numbers. You can’t extrapolate. On the flipside, though, you get guys like Bettis who accumulate numbers without ever dominating. The HOFers lie in between those two extremes. Better should not be a HOF, Alexander shouldn’t, Davis shouldn’t…Jackson is right on the fence.

Definitely sounds like a biased Seahawk fan.

      • I believe SJax is a HOFer. The dude had nobody. He had no QB. He had no OL. I can’t remember any WR or TE names on that black hole of a team… except for him.

When you played them, you played him. And he still beat you the hell up. Are you going to blame him for not getting in the end zone after carrying the team down the field so many times? What the hell else was that team going to do except give it to him and hope his talents got them there?

It’s a BS argument. That man is a HOFer just for his ability to be something so out of place that nobody else could have done what he did. AD would have run rampant for two years then spent the next six years on and off with injuries and not be the HOFer he is now.

Another RB who has been good to great but didn’t get his due is Jonathan Stewart. That man was good as a kid and the best Nikegon ever had. But it takes an undefeated Carolina team without Williams to recognize that? He suffered injuries, but would they have happened if he was the man? Now he doesn’t have the numbers to back up a HOFer claim. But SJax does have the numbers. How are you supposed to deny the numbers for one but not the other?

        • There will be no more RB HOFers besides AD and maybe Forte if the number crunchers rationalize his numbers enough to make them HOFer worthy. I saw there was a documentary about Forte out there now.

Where is the love for SJax? The man is a treasure. He is kind and good and hard-working. And he produced big time for a long time where boys dreamed. Where is his documentary?

          • I am a Seahawks fan but trust me, that is not the reason. Most Seahawks fans can’t stand Alexander for the same reasons and they are just as wrong. Alexander is the most underrated back of his generation. And that analysis would be the same rather I was a Hawks fan or not.

          • I think Alexander deserves the HOF more than Bettis. Terrell Davis deserves it more than Bettis. The Bus in the HOF is just hilarious.

For reverence, Jackson has more total yards than Bettis on much much worse teams. Bettis has a laughable 3.9 YPC. Does any other HOF RB have a YPC under 4? I doubt it…

          • Davis was better than Alexander but the stats do matter and Davis didn’t accumulate enough in my opinion. I love how just because you disagree you claim “bias”

You do understand that is possible to simply disagree right?

Alexander has 100 TDs something only 8 backs have done, set the record for most rushing TDs in one season (later broken but still held an NFL record). He was a league MVP and led his team to a Super Bowl.

That is a hall of famer in my book.

You are welcome to a different opinion but to claim the belief is based on bias only is bullshit. Its a very justified position. I didn’t even say Jackson wasn’t a Hall of Famer, I said that if Alexander isn’t than Jackson isn’t and totally stand by that. Bettis has nothing to do with the conversation.

          • One great season doesn’t make a HOF career. Roger Maris isn’t in the baseball HOF.

Alexander was very good. As I said, he deserves the HOF more than Bettis. Once Bettis is the benchmark, Davis, Alexander, and Jackson should all get in (by their standards). HOF lowered the benchmark with that one, so maybe the other 3 all deserve it.

He wouldn’t be in my HOF, though. I have high standards and look at the body of work.

          • I agree. But that’s what I’m putting out there as counterpoint. Alexander didn’t get the numbers but had those couple years. SJax has the numbers but did it as an unknown on a bad team. Bettis gets the same treatment if he stays on the Rams. He doesn’t get to be who he was if he didn’t go to Pittsburgh.

To be fair, Marshall was no slouch.

But the point is that production does count. SJax was run through a meat grinder and did better than all but about 15 RBs in the history of the league. And many of them have no idea what a meat grinder looks like.

In 2 hours after some last minute pondering I will share my decision on what school I will attend to as a student and football player. #NLI

  7. Loving the focus on JUCO guys, would really like a JUCO QB but seems like that won’t happen. Happy to get Moran in early but still hoping they are able to redshirt him. Unlike many I am not as down on Collins, think he needed a redshirt year and with another spring and fall he can improve. Still expect Garrettson to start. Would really like more competition at that position though (JUCO or 5th year guy).

  8. OT: Bo Ryan calls it quits…..immediately.
I was interested how he would be received during his last visit to The Barn. He was a great coach.

    • Yes, it’s hard to see clearly how their apparent recruiting preferences give them a competitive advantage in a small pool. They’ll need to avoid bias if they want to put together the top recruiting class possible…but there’s the team chemistry thing.

    • It makes me feel like we’re lil’ bro to freaking Utah and BYU both. And when the Whittingham/Chris Hill thing finally blows up, we get to do this all over again. Noogies!

      • Sounds like you have some insecurity issues you need to work on. Sure has nothing to do with my university being “lil’ bro” to Utah or BYU.

    • How might Andersen approach a Sitake departure? Is he likely to promote from within?

If he were to bring in new blood from the outside to replace Sitake, it might help address the issue you raise. Maybe he finds a capable D coordinator who has recruiting strengths that also diversifies OSU’s effective recruiting geography.

    • Is Gina the only member of the media who is trying to do anything?
That entire Q&A in the press conference, and she’s the only media to ask anything about Sitake.
Then she checks to see if he’s in his office. Seems like pretty standard stuff for someone in the media to try to get to the bottom of that story.

Is she the only media member with the balls to ask GA the tough(or not so tough) questions? I get the impression that he may not love it, but at least respects her work. Maybe the rest are all too scared to make him upset?

    • I will have to see the who gets hired as the OC and OL coach here before going Nostradamus.
The upward trajectory here has flamed out. Just came out about thirty minutes ago that our best recruit in forever, that was one of the MVPs of the UA all star game two years ago, has flunked out.
See the previous post about a curse!

  9. 4 hours ago Handsome tweeted that in 2 hours he’d announce which school he’d be going to.

In his tweet yesterday he listed BYU, OSU, Utah and BSU in that order so maybe he’s waiting to see who BYU’s head coach is going to be. https://twitter.com/handsometanielu

So it might not be that he wants to be where Sitake is but perhaps it’s more of a case where if they hire somebody like Pettybonehead Handsome would rather play somewhere else.

No offense to OUR Pettybonehead but after all you did choose that handle.

  10. Near the end of Andersen’s presser: [paraphrasing] “People are going to try and take some of our guys, and we’re going to go out and try and take other people’s guys.”

I still enjoy this attitude and approach; realistic, direct, competitive.

  11. I just assumed that Paisa Savea would sign today. I thought that was part of the appeal of finding an under the radar recruit with little information out there, is he would be a December signee. Does anyone know about him or Michael Johnson?

    • Crazy.

What is Baldwin going to do then? Drink Coke all day and hang out?

I wonder if this is b/c he didn’t like Baldwin or he thinks Baldwin is a better asset somewhere else? Is two coordinators a good thing? This entire situation is a disaster right now. Baldwin’s offense put up huge numbers, so why not give him a chance once he has better personnel? The problem this year was the QB. Some dumb calls for sure but part of that could have been compromising for lack of talent. I think is pretty knee jerk by GA.

      • QB situation was a trainwreck all year and none of them showed much, if any, growth over the course of the season. Now the guy in charge of that trainwreck is getting promoted? What?

      • Drinking Pepsi products as a Mormon is tolerable. Drinking coke products will get your ass kicked out of the highest Celestial Kingdom with extreme prejudice

    • Having two offensive coordinators doesn’t sound like a good idea at all. I would feel more secure if just McGiven or Woods were placed as OCs. Maybe he’ll narrow it down to just one by the time the next season starts.

  12. Doesn’t show much faith in Baldwin–changing his role after one season…. Wonder if he is gonna be Chief of Staff like Locey or ????

Also, strange TJ Woods promoted over Brennan. GA was complimentary of Brennan.

    • That could just be perception. But it does seem like a mad, disorganized scramble. My guess is this because GA is “not patient”, his own words..

      • We angrybeavs can’t get it both ways, or maybe we can. We’re going from a coaching staff of glacial change that most hated, to one that changes rapidly. I’ll take the latter without complaining.

        • I’ll take the later over the glacier.

This is a mess right now, 1 year later. That’s enough time to establish some stability. Losing coaches, moving coaches around, constantly moving players around…I assume it will settle down at some point and stability will set it, but they need that to happen fast. Sounds like they might be hiring a new DC, too, which isn’t going to help anything.

  13. Kevin Hampton ?@HamptonKevin ยท
Announced: Dave Baldwin will coach the inside receivers. Kevin McGiven and T.J. Woods wil share O.C. duties

  14. You don’t bring in an offensive consultant if you’re satisfied with your OC. He probably od’ed on diet Pepsi and they decided this was best for his health.

Also, I wonder if the fact that has shown zero ability to recruit has anything to do with it? There was almost no consistency in play calling week to week either.

So suddenly beavers potentially losing all coaches? Can’t imagine this was part of GAs plan a year ago.
