When the contract with Learfield sports ends, will the Beavs save more money? That seems like a bad contract, but I don’t know the details. What year does it end?
Seeing the Stanford and Cal games a bit, it’s pretty noticeable how much quicker Stanford and Cal are compared to the Beavs. If they run into a pretty quick team early in the NCAAs I could see them losing
When the Lady Beavs play their game of Hamblin blocking shots + making 3s, they are pretty much unbeatable, no matter the speed of the other team. Problem vs Stanford is the 3s weren’t falling. Early in this game they couldn’t make shots. They’re heating up now, so they’ll probably win. But they’re vulnerable like all teams that live and die with 3. Hamblin misses a surprisingly number of point blank layups..I’d say she’s move valuable on D than offense.
Ruth has a nice move where she gets the ball in the paint with her back to the rim, then turns and shoots it from seven or eight feet. She makes a lot of those. She also seems to make her few shots from just outside the key.
She misses a few more layups, just to make up for it.
Two errors in the inning and a ground ball that went off the third base bag. Beavers pitchers didn’t get a whole lot of help that inning. 16-3 Beavers after 7 1/2
Another slow start, but Beavs have responded well.
Got in a few questions to Helfrich the other night, he blew off most people but having known him my entire life, he gave me a few serious answers. Will post my questions and answers tomorrow or Monday.
That was complete domination after the first few minutes.
Anyone know what Wrestling is doing? Apparently they were going for a 4th straight title. #yearofthebeaver
I’m not confident in Eckert. I know he had good JC stats, but he’s been iffy in past starts and Grambling is pretty terrible…
Nice fielding there though to turn two. I think the Beavs need Luke H to step up ASAP and then Eckert can be long relief. Not sure what the hell is wrong with Luke H.
Harrison giving Ice the game off. Clark at 1b. Beavs have the tying run out at the plate by a mile. The base runner didn’t even try sliding. Weird play. Shouldn’t have been waved home in my opinion.
1 & 3 with nobody out and Eckert gets a comebacker and looks the runner back, goes to 2b and on to 1b for the DP. After a BB the Beavs get the runner hung up between 1st & 2nd and throw the runner out at the plate. Beavs with 3 errors in 3 innings.
What I’ve heard, is that Casey has aways hated the beaver logo and any variation of it. That’s why it’s never been on the unis, hats, etc. I can’t remember seeing it associated with the program in the last decade.
I heard the same thing from one of the Beaver admin guys (name slips memory at the moment) who told me, after my ranting about the Nutria, that Casey “hates the new logo and refuses to have it associated with baseball”…
Hartford was also pretty bad however many years ago that was. Games were still shown on the Beav website back then and their pitchers threw every damn ball straight down the plate. I can’t remember if it was a three or four game sweep. Some double digit wins.
Home from Corvallis with a few observations:
–Gabby Hanson had a heck of a game, key shots and RB’s; and, FWIW, I too think she is prettier than Siegner
-The comments above about Ruth are spot on, she defends well but seems to miss lots of shots. She isn’t, by nature, an aggressive person and it shows in her tentative nature when she gets the ball.
-Deven Hunter is such a brawler, doesn’t get enough recognition.
-Slow starts have become too much of a habit; 3 pointers by Sydney and Jamie are the main means of overcoming them. Not a situation to be counted upon in the NCAA’s. I’d love to see the habit broken!
-Eckert fields his position well, the sequence described above by steveEbeaver at 5:17 was a thing of beauty to see in person.
-Eckert put in a good day, 108 pitches and the majority of contact was kept on the ground, not saying he should be part of the rotation, but he did good vs this level of competition and gets my vote for long relief.
-Jansen spent plenty of time on the pine after his baserunning foolishness Friday. Except for Gretler, the baserunning needs improvement all around.
-Rasmussen, what can ya say?…….strong, fast, throws strikes. He’s a bright spot.
-Whatever happened to “small ball”?
-Bonus, in case you wondered, Mandy removed her heels when she went up the ladder for her share of the net. She’s easy on the eyes, but not convinced she is #1 given the advantage she has vs gals in uniform and w/o makeup.
Mandy removed her heels when she went up the ladder for her share of the net. She’s easy on the eyes, but not convinced she is #1 given the advantage she has vs gals in uniform and w/o makeup.
I actually think Ruth cleans up pretty well. But, if I only get one choice, I’ll go with Gabby.
BTW, ever notice how close-set Samantha’s eyes seem to be?
They all have their own beautiful spirit and I bet there are some sweet personalities in the group. This team is fun to follow on so many levels.
It was damn near magical being in Gill, I won’t even lie, I almost broke into tears. I’ve been watching every home game this year, and to watch them finally get this accomplishment all to themselves. The sun had a great backdrop into the windows into our lil cathedral of athletics. Of course, they changed it in the 2nd half because Cal was complaining. How are Californians complaining about some sun?
Anyway, I’m glad that Syd decided to reload that banana clip attached to her shoulder. Shot 7-9 from deep, just like I know she could. Ali hitting that three with a minute left was so perfect. She still needs to beat Stanford in her career. A second chance in the tournament is definitely warranted.
Can’t wait to see these ladies in Gill for the first and second rounds of the NCAAs.
i really hope the momentum continues for the Beav sports that are doing great and that it comes together for those in transition. I think OSU could have a pretty impressive athletic program from A to Z in a couple of years. It’s better that a lot of people think as it stands.
Beautiful day in Corvallis, sunny and brisk! Go Beavs, and go Lady Beavs, playing for an outright PAC title this afternoon at Gill.
When the contract with Learfield sports ends, will the Beavs save more money? That seems like a bad contract, but I don’t know the details. What year does it end?
Nice to see Rasmussen get the start.
Strike em out, throw em out double play to end some early trouble.
The Grambling pitcher is horrible. Beavs score two without a hit. But Beaver batters looked just as hapless save for a foul liner by Harrison.
A run on two hits. 3-0 end of 2
Another run on one hit. Harrison HBP for the second time.
You guys think Casey is shifting the lineup well?
Rasmussen is good. Only question is who the hell can come in after him and actually get hitters out
Looks good so far but I don’t think he’ll be able to throw up in the zone like this against P12 hitting.
He can rush it up to 97. An elevated fastball above the belt at 97 can be really tough to get to for most pac-12 hitters.
Two run lined shot into the seats from Morrison makes it 6-0 Beavers
Morrison with the line drive over the RF fence for two runs. Nobach caught stealing or it would’ve been a 3 run shot
And I don’t know why you have Nobach running with Hendrix at the plate and ahead in the count.
Rasmussen is the hardest throwing starter the Beavers have had in a while. His stuff is truly electric.
He certainly has the Grambling batters handcuffed. One hit in the first and the ump blew the call.
The ball is definitely jumping to RF. Nobach with a two run shot. 9-0.
Completely out of hand after Kings two run double and Hamitin’s two run shot to left. 15-0
Beavers have scored 56 runs in the last 5 games. Up 15-0 in the 6th
yes, but can they hold the lead?
Rasmussen has had a ton of bad luck this inning
Lady Beavs playing like crap lately
Seeing the Stanford and Cal games a bit, it’s pretty noticeable how much quicker Stanford and Cal are compared to the Beavs. If they run into a pretty quick team early in the NCAAs I could see them losing

Agree, especially on Hamblin. I’m surprised that she looks so uncomfortable when she gets the ball down low.
She has a .585 shooting %, which is great, but she seems to miss so many shots.
Ruth has a nice move where she gets the ball in the paint with her back to the rim, then turns and shoots it from seven or eight feet. She makes a lot of those. She also seems to make her few shots from just outside the key.

3 Grambling hits and two Beaver errors. 16-3.
Two errors in the inning and a ground ball that went off the third base bag. Beavers pitchers didn’t get a whole lot of help that inning. 16-3 Beavers after 7 1/2
Can they hold the lead.
How are the Beavs with Beavs doing?
Beavs have scored in 10 straight innings going back to last night. And have the sacks juiced with one out
20-3 and Beavs lead by more than two TDs
Neat deal
Lady Beavs heating up. Tied at 20 with a FT to take the lead after the break.
Two run dinger for Howard. 24-3.
Has a lady ever dunked?
Yes some gal at Baylor did a few years ago. I guess it’s a big deal when one of them does since its rare
A cookie in milk.
I think it was Brittney Greiner for Baylor
Got curious … looked it up. 1984, Georgeann Wells, WVU, dunked first.
9 runs in the 8th and the Beavs take a 25 -3 lead to the 9th. 21 hits.
Lady Beavs have come back from an early defecit and lead 31-24 at final tv timeout in the first half
36-24
They might kill Cal. This is snowballing.
25-3 final. Rasmussen with 9 Ks.
40-26 at the half.
Another slow start, but Beavs have responded well.
Got in a few questions to Helfrich the other night, he blew off most people but having known him my entire life, he gave me a few serious answers. Will post my questions and answers tomorrow or Monday.
If it’s interesting email it and I’ll make a post, or else it might get buried.
samantha siegner is pretty cute
Thumbing me down? Really?
I’d rank the ladies, after Mandy: Guilich, Hansen, Siegner, Hunter.
LOL. Fat finger dude. I was trying to give you a plus. She is a very pretty girl.
Okay good. I was wondering about my eye for women.
What do you think, BG, Siegner ahead of Hansen?
Gibson probably would look “cute” in that girl next door way with a little makeup. Overall the beavs are better looking than most teams I’ve seen.
Have to go for Hansen. Seigner has the look of somebody you don’t want to piss off, unless you are into the whole dominatrix thing LOL.
LOL. Been drinking. I thought you were talking about Weisner. That’s who I don’t want to piss off.
She is a really good player and shooter.
Lady Beavs roll past Cal! Outright Pac-12 conference champions! 73-55 final
15/26 on 3 pt FG’s.
Whiskey called the ladies winning the pac-12 back in December. I’ll try not to injure myself patting my back.
That was complete domination after the first few minutes.
Anyone know what Wrestling is doing? Apparently they were going for a 4th straight title. #yearofthebeaver
Wrestling has 4 #1 seeds in tomorrow’s Pac 12 tourney in Gill. Pac 12 title coming up! Go Beavs!
Don’t get too excited, I think you had them beating Tree too.
Yes I thought that was going to happen this year too. Maybe they’ll get another crack at them in the conference tournament
Eckert in trouble early. Down 2-0 t2
The Beavers’ defense has gifted Grambling 2 runs. KJ Harrison having a tough inning
Harrison giving Ice the game off. Clark at 1b. Beavs have the tying run out at the plate by a mile. The base runner didn’t even try sliding. Weird play. Shouldn’t have been waved home in my opinion.
Left fielder had the ball before Gillette was even at third base. No way he should have been sent there
The Grambling State infielders stink. No range whatsoever
Their entire team is garbage. I’m sure Casey ripped his team a new one after last night. They had no business allowing Grambling back in that game
KJ Harrison has been pretty terrible in the field and on the base paths
Beavs take the lead but leave the bases loaded. 4-2.
Beavs need a better option than Eckert.
Harrison with a one out triple. I do believe he was being waved in. Doesn’t matter as Clark homers to center.
Nice, Jim just said Rasmussen in the rotation for the rest of the year.
*pats back*
The new field is pretty bland. Glad the awful new logo is not there, but was hoping for a script Beavers or something.
What I’ve heard, is that Casey has aways hated the beaver logo and any variation of it. That’s why it’s never been on the unis, hats, etc. I can’t remember seeing it associated with the program in the last decade.
Another reason to like the guy!
I heard the same thing from one of the Beaver admin guys (name slips memory at the moment) who told me, after my ranting about the Nutria, that Casey “hates the new logo and refuses to have it associated with baseball”…
Did he like the poop smear? Or is he a classic Benny guy?
Someone please keep posting updates. I flipped over to Arizona/Utah on espn. Last I saw it was 7-2
8-2 Beavers after 6
Arizona up 17-8 on Utah. 8:42 left in first half
9-2 OSU
9-2 Beavers after 7 1/2
Arizona leads Utah 29-28 at halftime
Beavers win 9-2
Beavs have scored 59 runs in their last 4 games
Grambling St was one of the worst teams I’ve ever seen.
Hartford was also pretty bad however many years ago that was. Games were still shown on the Beav website back then and their pitchers threw every damn ball straight down the plate. I can’t remember if it was a three or four game sweep. Some double digit wins.
Look for another OS Pac 12 title tomorrow in Gill when wrestling gets it done. Go Beavs!
Arizona wins 63-57. Clinched a share of the Pac-12 title
Home from Corvallis with a few observations:

Who gets your vote, old beav?
I actually think Ruth cleans up pretty well. But, if I only get one choice, I’ll go with Gabby.
BTW, ever notice how close-set Samantha’s eyes seem to be?
They all have their own beautiful spirit and I bet there are some sweet personalities in the group. This team is fun to follow on so many levels.
Yeah, I’m not big into those kind of rankings. That’s like trying to rank tiramisu, sweet tea, Mario games, and a silver dollar
It was damn near magical being in Gill, I won’t even lie, I almost broke into tears. I’ve been watching every home game this year, and to watch them finally get this accomplishment all to themselves. Since it was Riley holding them back, that is very likely
MBB in less than an hour…Go Beavs
