  1. Gauchos strand a runner at third, scoreless through an inning. Teams combined to go 0 for 5 with runners in scoring position in the first inning.

        • It’s hard not being able to see or listen to the game and know the location of the pitches. Last year I felt like our guys were too selective and put themselves in a lot of tough counts because of it. I know that they are coached to do this but there is a big range between being too aggressive at the plate and only pulling the trigger on the perfect pitch to hit.

  2. It sounds like Ben has good stuff to start the season. And it sounds like our D is there for support.

edit: as I type, I’m thinking I’m going to jinx him, and he’s going to let one slip up in the zone.

    • He’s more of a “keep the defense involved” type pitcher. When he snaps it low, he’s most effective. I think the fly balls rattled him a bit, and he’s working too hard to get down low again.

He just needs to put the ball low on the plate and let his defense take care of him.

  3. 5-0 Beavers after 3 1/2 innings. Nice job by the Beavers in taking advantage of an opportunity in the 4th to put together a big inning.

  4. Starr got an out and Cole Brocker is in. Starr fared alright, considering this was his first game in 3 years, had to be extremely nervous.

    • What?! Wait, so my “Listen Live” is obviously not live. In the 7th inning now.
Oh well guess I don’t have to listen to the rest now. Heading to Jimmy O’s for my nephew’s 21st b-day, then off to the Acropolis Club to buy him his first lap dance!
All that talk last week about the Beaver Inn on 82nd got me wanting to get back to supporting single Moms.

      • After your comments last week, I paid closer attention while driving down 82nd. I think the Beaver Inn buliding still exists and it’s called Rocco’s now. I might be wrong though because I thought Beaver Inn burned down at one point, but maybe someone rebuilt it. I was away from Portland for 20 years. It’s close to one of my favorite places Cascade Cigar.

        • I took my son to Jiggles on his 18th birthday. After about an hour he built up the courage to finally pick out a girl and get a lap dance. Afterwards he saw the door to the ladies dressing room. Eyeballing it for awhile he turns to me and flatly asks, “that must be the room you go in to have sex with them?” I sprayed my Pepsi everywhere.

  5. Btw, Cole Brocker has electric “stuff”. He had to be mid-90s with a nice offspeed pitch (based on speed, it looked like a slider, but it’s hard to tell from the baseline angle). Starr’s velocity was not so good. Probably 87mph or so. Boyd throws surprisingly hard in person, and his slider is amazing to watch. Even from the side view you can see it dipping and diving.

      • Yeah, but not too many. There was a big net in the way. I got a few, though. Wetzler throwing, the dugout, Casey talking to Marty Lees between innings…maybe a few more. I’ll upload them in the forums when I get them off the camera.

If I go tomorrow or Sunday does anyone have any picture requests?

  6. I posted the few opening day photos I took in the forums.
If I go back tomorrow or Sunday I’ll try to not be so lazy and get some action shots.
