Sounds like Woods, DJ, and Romaine are out or limited for tonight’s spring game. Going to be watching Skotte closely.

Dylan's kick was probably good enough to beat Sac St.
You going to the Spring Fling?
No I'll be in Silverton at the brew fest. I've been to a few spring games and they just don't do anything fo rme. Would rather just go to a practice.
Mmmmmmmmm beer.
…and good beer it was! Perfect Oregon spring day at the Oregon Garden! Met a few people from out of state that were visiting on business who where all but calling their families back home telling them go pack up all belongings and move to Oregon. Between the weather, selection of outstanding beer, and the ladies finally able to shed their winter clothing and show off a little it was a great day.
Wynn just seems a little nuts. I think it's awesome. Hopefully the DT depth is good enough this year where Wynn can stay at DE instead of moving to DT on third and long situations.
San Diego St. start time has been set: 4:30 PDT. Perfect, in my estimation. Late
enought for some solid tailgating; early enough to visit a caberet or two afterwards.
Now spring game uniforms?
http://www.oregonlive.com/playbooks-profits/index.ssf/2013/04/nike_introduces_oregon_ducks_s.html#incart_river
Usually, I don't notice or care about uniforms but I thought the orange helmets looked like something to wear post brain surgery or if you were a bicycle policeman in a dangerous country. Just sayin . . .
I'm fine with woods/romaine being out. I'm most concerned with who's going to replace Feti at MLB. Mixed feelings about it being at night, maybe it adds some intensity. Anybody know if it's free to go still?

Interesting
Jeff Goodman tweeting that Ahmad Starks will transfer
http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/blog/eye-on-college-basketball/22007798/transfer-list-first-edition
just saw that.
That will be the final nail in CR's coffin. For all his faults, he has some decent skills.
CR let him run wild so he never learned to play under control. CR's fault.
Bingo.
I strongly disagree, this is great news.
Starks was our worst player last year. I know most on here hated Burton, but even Burton was slighly better than Starks due to a relatively solid FG% and good rebounding. Starks was terrible and any kind of upgrade at PG will greatly benefit the team.
I think CR realized this.
why would you transfer with one year left seems pointless
Wouldn't surprise me if he's going through some family issues. Something seemed off with him the whole season, wouldn't surprise me if he had family problems off the court that were distractions for him.
According to the Scout boards his mom is sick:
http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=169&f=2616&t=11487224
Here's the Oregonian link:
http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2013/04/osu_basketball_ahmad_starks_to.html
Grandma is sick. Exact reason Purdue's guard is transferring to go somewhere in Chicago, and they went to high school together, I believe.
Well that sucks. What does everyone think happens first: Rose Bowl or NCAA tournament bid? You would think NCAA tournamet bid should be much easier to obtain than a Rose Bowl birth but I honestly don't know.
We are in trouble if Starks was the key to making the Dance
In case you didn't notice we've been in trouble for around 20 years. Having our starting PG walk away from the team certainly doesn't help next years team outlook.
He's not our starting PG.
Barton is the starting PG and was for a while.
There wasn't much production from Starks the last part of the season, this would likely continue if he stuck around as his head wasn't into it. I wish him well wherever he ends up.
Oooh yeah. Whoops. Lol as you can tell I tuned out during the second half of the season. Hopefully I'm wrong about the team's outlook and we win the Pac next year.
#BeaverJuice?
Fortunately, he was not.
Yikes.
you guys think cr gonna get canned before obama leaves office?
Its ok to fire the President's brother in-law 18 months and 1 day into the president's second term…
Since the two are mutually exclusive, the question seems a little silly. That being said, I have yet to see OSU fire any coach just for losing. We've let them go when their contracts expire. But we don't just can coaches unless they do something wrong personally.
Right idiot…. BDC knows that if he ever fires CR that in a matter on minutes both Gill and Reser will be reduced to rubble in a drone attack. JB
PS: Don't tell Glenn Beck it's a secret.
I'm not sure why anyone here has angst about Starks leaving other than depth and experience. While I appreciate his efforts over the years and like the kid as a person, his play felll way off this past year. And he was just getting in the way and killing runs more than he was being productive. It became apparent that he was not a PG, and his size prohibits him moving to the SG spot.
I wonder what George Dohrmann is saying about this.
+1
Another Duck (Alonzo) gets drafted.
Yeah, to my Bills, a perennial losing NFL franchise if I've ever seen one.
Keyes RBI single gives the Beavers a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd
Max Gordon follows with an RBI single. 2-0
Clutch hitting from bottom order again! 2-0, very warm here
RBI single by Andy Peterson. 3-0 Beavers
Simple singles getting the job done. 3-0, andy peterson. Deep fly out by conforto ends inning.
Even a lot of the outs are balls the Beavers are smoking. Wheatley isn't fooling anyone
3-1 Beavers
3-1 Beavers after 2 1/2 innings
Very nice move by Smith to start the 6-4-3 DP to end the t3, shoveliing the ball directly from his glove to Peterson.
Saw OSU has some new gear available today on the fanshop website. Release of new merchandise is consistent with the originally scheduled Re-beaved date prior to the logo leak. new stuff doesnt do much for me though. Nike gives Oregon higher quality products for their freaking spring game.
I challenge you to find a single "high" quality good from Nike.
Good effort by Keyes to lay out on the foul fly, kind of like the recently posted move by Darwin Barney………except Barney got the job done..on a fair ball.
Great catch by CF! Mark Banker is walking around in flip flops.
Max Gordon with 2 hits on the night
RBI double by Dylan Davis. 4-1 Beavers in the 7th
Sac fly by Hayes. 5-1 Beavers
Keyes RBI single. 6-1 Beavers
How 'bout Max Gordon? 3 for 4 tonight after having a good game last Sunday as well.
Wheaton to the Steelers
Good for him. He shouldn't have any problem making the team and he gets to be on a competitive team right away.
http://www.hark.com/clips/pdxrgzgpcj-i-love-it-i-love-it-i-l-l-l-l-ove-it
Beavers get an RBI double by Conforto, then RBI singles by Hayes, Keyes and Gordon. USC gets a home run off Boyd in the ninth. 10-2 Beavers with 1 out in the ninth.
RBI groundout, 10-3 Beavers
USC makes it 10-4 on error by Hayes.
The new logo revealing in Reser is less than 2 minutes away. Wish this was a real game but the weather is great and I hope to see 5,000+ in Reser. Can't wait to see the new unis!
Oregon State Spring Game: What to Watch For
http://beaverbyte.com
Spring game (scrimmage?) is on the national network channel. Looks like a really nice day in Corvallis.
Beavers win 10-4
New logo at the 50 yard line.
Mannion goes out with first with the starters.
… with no lineman.
Stream for the football “game”?
http://video.pac-12.com/networks/pac-12-national
I think you have to have a pac 12 network sign in though.
Thanks but no joy. No radio either that I could find. Drat.
What did Kiper et al say about Wheaton? Missed it.
The Kim Lardasshian of football………Mel Kiper.
That's what he said?
I'm sure they compared him to Mike Wallace, right? Any good praise?
Playing 11 on 11 now. Mannion looked good leading the offense all the way down the field before throwing a pick in the endzone. Ball looked like it was tipped but I couldn't really tell and I didn't see a replay.
Nice pick by Ryan Murphy who injured himself a bit trying to take it out of the endzone. Hopefully only a minor tweak as he is expected to be one of the stars of the defense.
Mannion is in regular season form! If Vaz gets sacked a couple times, then we are good to go for the season opener at QB .No need to hold fall camp.
Vanderveen comes in for the second offensive possession instead of Vaz.
Vanderveen drives the offense down the field and throws a TD to Hatfield.
For angry: Harrington tripped over his feet on a drop during a screen pass. No rushers in his face. We can't all be perfect.
Harrington looked less than spectacular in his possession.
Not much playing time from Mannion or Vaz. Each only getting one offensive possession. If we learned anything about the QBs from watching the scrimmage it's that Vanderveen has taken over the 3rd string spot over Harrington.
Any no huddle or fast paced offense in the scrimmage?
They tried, but got a delay of game penalty. I thought the music was cool.
MR forgets to use a timeout? Coaching staff is also in mid season form.
Practice makes permanent.
For me Mannion doesn't look like he did against UCLA or AZ. He was lights out in those games. His passes lack a little zing. And for anyone who watched it on TV, be glad you don't have the monster head ache I have. In my 57 years I have not been exposed to that much loud obnoxious rap music ever. Wish we would have known we would have brought hearing protection. Hopefully next year none of our QBs will get player of the week. Our last three QBs have sucked since making POTW.
After the baseball game I wondered over to Reser but the music drove me out pretty quick. Cooks with a couple of nice grabs and Chris Brown with a good run on a screen. Best catch of the day was Max Gordon with the diving catch in the fifth. The baseball team hit the ball well today and collected 20 hits.
Was Poyer arrested again yesterday? I see a bunch of CBs picked starting with #64, but I'm wondering if the people doing the picking have actually seen these kids play.
I saw Desmond Trufant play for more than one year. Dude will be gone before his brother.
Poyer's a baller… but he's no better than two UCONN CBs who really aren't that good?
And wow have the Cowboys really sucked in this draft.
It's like their the new Raiders… except speed isn't necessary.

Hot air?
From all of the stories at the Oregonian:
Tyler Hasty at safety? Wondering if that was just for spring game, or if that is where he is bound?
Josh Williams gets praised by Banker, I'm glad to see another MLB besides Skotte get some positive remarks from coaching staff;
Too bad about safety Hill, torn ACL;
"RB Brown stole the show," though stats not impressive.
Langsdorf comments team "way ahead of where it was a year ago."
Well, back to reading others post about baseball and the enjoyable political tangents.
Really a shame about Hill. Just gets back from the other ACL and now this. Has to be really down. Hopefully he stays with the program and his teamates keep his spirits up.
I don't know about Brown stealing the show. He had some good runs, but also a fumble and a dropped pass as he turned up field before catching the ball.
On the draft, surprised Poyer and Jonathan Franklin from UCLA still available after 3 rounds.
Wheaton and Poyer came out in a draft high in WRs and CBs, and I think they'll outlast many of them and end up making their teams happy.
RE USC QBs and the draft: The small person in me enjoying Barkley's fall, Sanchez's likely pants wetting. Methinks Max Browne would be better off donning a cool new Beaver uniform while OSU has a great Oline and solid RB stable…
I've read some stuff about Barkley, he is a great kid. Sanchez was/is a dick.
Can't believe Poyer has not been picked.
A guy at my son's baseball practice was telling me that Poyer had relatively poor "strength numbers' at whatever combines he did (I don't follow this stuff closely) and that is hurting his draft status. Don't know if that's really a factor for a CB?
I find it hard to imagine him not being successful in the NFL.
Poyer's shuttle numbers were good, but the others not so hot.
I thought somebody posted a quote from Rod Perry saying we'd be surprised where Poyer would be drafted. Surprised isn't the word that comes to mind this morning. Too bad, he'll have to prove himself all over again.
Good teams take value late. Consistently bad teams chase measurables. The Raiders come to mind.
The Iggles take Barkley to start the 4th. I'm thinking Chipster is going to run a hurry up like the Pats do, not primarily a hurry up read option.
Agree. Mix it some of his read stuff. Saw a blurb yesterday that Kelly was one of only two NFL HC's not to play or coach in the league. The other……..our own MR.
Okafor drafted. Vid clips are of him making Vaz his personal tackling dummy in the Alamo Bowl.
and Colin Kelly's draft stock starts plummeting…
Well, if Poyer goes to SF or Atl, not bad. Even Detroit might become a playoff contender…
Near consensus all-american at one of the most valuable positions, still on the board.
Well, Rod Perry was right…I'm surprised.
There must be something in Poyer's medical file that's causing this drop.
Yeah Poyer's plummet is shocking–good call, Rod Perry!
If I'm reading the tracker right, mid-fifth round and still no Poyer. FCS CB drafted ahead of Poyer? I'd be interested in really knowing what's going on. And what the hell is Chipster going to do with Matt Barkley? Trade him?
What is there now, 20+ CBs taken?
Did Poyer recently acquire an on-line "girlfriend?" This makes no sense.
Now a punter drafted ahead of Poyer…a punter.
Ouch.
Ryan Allen still on the board too….????
Got to be a punch in the gut to Poyer. Perry has the NFL experience/connections, he must know what's going on here.
That's an interesting point. You'd think a GM or coaching staff would trust any input Perry would have, especially this late. There's essentially no risk left in taking the guy.
On ESPN, Poyer has been listed as the best available CB for some time…
I’m convinced it’s GMs infatuated with combine numbers instead of production/football iq and skill
Punters, Kickers and lower division players going before Poyer is BS! Surprised Chipster hasnt picked him up. He's taking lots of PAC-12 players who have hurt him in the past.
I don't invest much in the draft and watch minimal pro ball, but this is starting to piss me off. Did Poyer sleep with someone's wife?
Apparently everybody's. And used the back door.
What would be worse at this point is going to KC, Oakland, NY or some other franchise that's poorly managed.
Will Poyer even get drafted?!
49ers need a cb, hope htey take him. Harbaugh saw him
well that didn't happen.
24 CBs now taken ahead of Poyer.
The bar fight and some teams reportedly didn't like his interviews..
Poyer's bar fight compared to the "Honey Badgers" antics, 5' 9" height, and 175 lb frame are hard to reconcile.
I'm surprised if he didn't interview well.
I too can't imagine Poyer not interviewing well. His FB instincts, competitive drive, and the "story" he brings all made me think he'd be in the top three rounds. He's a fighter, now that he has been drafted I expect he'll make something good of it.
Seems to interview fine here:
http://videos.oregonlive.com/oregonian/2012/09/blake_and_the_beavers_tough_qu.html
Maybe they didn't like the ice cream response?
Detroit Tiger pitcher Sanchez had 17 Ks last night breaking the team record set by Mickey Lolich in 1969. Those of us old enough, who could forget the Portlander's 1968 World Series MVP performance? Winning 3 games and out dueling the great Bob Gibson in game 7.
Maybe they all saw him get burned by Sac St?
ouch, still he bounced back his senior year i'd say to at least warrant a pick
I was joking. I think Poyer is a 3rd round talent…guy i'd want on my team. i don't care if his speed is .10 seconds slow.
This one is confusing. Even if his speed is a factor, he's the prototypical tweener NFL teams should be looking for in a nickle package. His speed keeps him from being a boundary corner. But the same could be said of most CB's taken before him. And almost none of them have his hips or his ball recognition. And I guarantee none of them are ST specialists on both sides like he is, an intangible which should warrant an upgrade for a draftee. In other words, he's a football player to the Nth degree.
Compare this to Hardin. Hardin was a little better in run support, but he was vastly inferior in coverage. And they were equals in ST. In fact, I'd give Poyer the plus there. Hardin was really not a good CB, and I see how his measurables make him a S prospect and of different value. But with the NFL looking to transition to a place where tweeners need to be covering inside instead of pressuring the run, Poyer has a lot more value.
What I read from some sites is the whole arrest thing for trespass in the second or third degree. Most reads look like he went back to a place he was banned fromas a minor. None of them mention his charges were dismissed. And even a lousy lawyer would have had them dismissed. He returned to a bar when he was "of age." He was either told he could not enter and was "detained," which would make "detention" kidnapping at that point. Or he was allowed entry and "detained" once someone somewhere knew who he was and disliked him because his girlfriend had a crush on him… constituting an institutional welcome to the premises… meaning trespass was out the door.
i've even seen some stories tie in the fight that happened at the shit hole a month later with three other players. I have to wonder how stupid some of these NFL "scouts" are that they can't do any homework.
And I have to wonder if I can get paid to do that job based on what I think is the stupid stupid reason for Poyer to get bumped four rounds. I can provide context better than they can if that's the leak on him.
Sorry… gonna pull a 4chan…
jordan poyer philadelphia eagles seventh round oregon state chip kelly steal
I think Poyer would be a great free safety if not cb; just add 10lbs. Maybe he's a bust, but I think you draft a guy with that much passion and i.q. There were many more larger stretches (e.g. Jets taking that Missouri DT) and in earlier rounds than Poyer. I think teams get an idea in their head and speculate/fall in love with it…it's the lure of measurables/potential.
Some teams buy measurables and nothing else. But that doesn't explain this pick at all.
Jordan Poyer was radioactive for some reason. And it can't be because of his arrest. That would be the major -est fail of all time for every NFL scout out there. The Philadelphia Eagles picked him in the seventh round because Chip Kelly wanted a steal.
Maybe I give you more hits by saying:
Iggles buy Poyer, news at 11.
Poyer #2 overall on Kipers board.
Pittsburgh?!? They just lost another OSU CB to free agency this off-season.
Beavers lead USC 1-0 after 3 inning
Conforto hits a solo shot to left to make it 2-0 Beavers in the bototm of the 4th
Chip takes Poyer. Smart guy
Still though he wasnt picked till mid 7th round.
Wonder of there are lingering issues with that mid season knee injury he had?
http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-football/story/2012-11-02/oregon-state-jordan-poyer-knee-injury-game-time-decision-arizona-state
It was all combine numbers, apparently. GMs still have a hard time recognizing guys like Poyer. They'll fall for the 4.30 guy from big school x every time (e.g. see the Jets pick…future bust).
Poyer is really going to have a chip on his shoulder after this.
Chip
The Beavers are playing great defense
2-0 Beavers after 5 1/2 innings
2-0 Beavers after 6 1/2 innings
2 out RBI single by Tyler Smith and it's 3-0 Beavers in the bottom of the 8th
Beavers win 3-0
So far, two weekends where I expected the Beavs to put some daylight between themselves and the other in-state team. I try not to pay too much attention to the ucks, but the combination of the Beavs poor showing against Udub and the ucks ability to hang with Stanford so far have been surprising to me.
Really adds to the importance of the series coming up May 17 in Eugene. I'll be "off the grid" backpacking in the Snake River Canyon for most of that series. Counting on good info (and results) on AB when I return!
GO BEAVS!……..take care of business between now and then.
It's baseball, anything can happen.
S-I on the Eagles draft grade and Poyer:
"Until we know more about Chip Kelly’s plans, let’s just chalk the Matt Barkley pickup to finding a potential first-round QB at No. 98. The rest of this class figures to be more important in 2013. No one more so than OT Lane Johnson, who has the athleticism to thrive under Kelly. TE Zach Ertz could be a dangerous weapon in this offense, too. Defensively, expect DT Bennie Logan to help and CB Jordan Poyer to possibly prove the steal of the draft. Grade: B-plus"
Sounds about right. How did they grade the Jet's draft? I hated it (C-).
New York Jets
The first round was disappointing. DT Sheldon Richardson is kind of miscast in the Jets’ current defense, and CB Dee Milliner broke the rule that you don’t try to replace a player you just traded away by drafting someone at the same position. G Brian Winters has a nasty streak and Rex Ryan will like that. But, of course, the spotlight will shine brightest on QB Geno Smith. Is he the answer New York needs at that position? Or are there ample reasons to justify his drop into Round 2? Grade: C
D
Solid D and nothing else. Pollyanna doesn't even begin to describe this J E T S apologist.

Don't make me actually think about it.
Yeah a C is generous. What an epic failure of a franchise.
Anyone have a stream for today's baseball game?
http://pac-12.com/live/osubeavers.aspx
Why is Parker doing a p-12/tv game??
It's not on tv
I believe the stream is from OSU atheletics not Pac12, thus the usual Beaver announcer. When Jim Wilson is involved, he too is heard on the stream. Its the same as the radio broadcast audio.
BTW: as a Parker fan you'll want to check his Twitter…pics of daughters singing at Corvallis Open Market. I'm certain you've got the link bookmarked!
It is so much easier to pull Jack's chain than Angry's!
;)
I've missed something.
And obviously I'm the lesser for doing so.
Oh well. I caught some fish this weekend.
Did you even try?
I want a chain now.
RBI singles by Conforto and Day in the first inning, Beavers up 2-0 in the bottom of the 2nd
Bases loaded and no outs for Andy Peterson
Sac fly by Peterson. 3-0 Beavers after 2 innings
3-0 Beavers after 2 1/2 innings. Wetzler cruising again.
Home run by USC. 3-1 Beavers after 3 1/2 innings
Wetzler's 1-2 pitch is crushed for a solo shot. 3-1 after 3 and a half.
RBI double by Davis, 4-1 Beavers, runners on second and third and no outs in the bottom of the 5th
Sac Fly by Barnes. 5-1 Beavers, runner on third
Dylan Davis runs himself into an out and there's 2 down, Day at first.
5-1 Beavers after 5 1/2 innings
Nice barehanded PO (5-3) by Keyes to end the t6; that's the kind of play which picks up other guys on the team!
Nice hustle by Peterson to beat out an IF single, then on to third on Conforto's single. Runners on the corners w/no outs in the b7.
Sac fly by Dylan Davis. 6-1 in the bottom of the 7th
6-1 Beavers after 7 innings
6-1 Beavers after 7 1/2 innings.
Wetzler's day is done. Ben Wetzler's last four starts: 30 1/3 innings, 3 runs allowed, 18 hits allowed, 24 strikeouts and one shutout.
Sooo a 0.890 ERA?? (I think I did the math right)
haha, that has to be a record of somesort for OSU pitching.
Great month for Wetzler!!
Beavers win 6-1 and sweep USC
Stanford up 3-2 in the ninth with 1 out, takes a reliever who is dominating out of the game for whatever reason, bring in a new reliever, walk, RBI double and walk-off squeeze play and Oregon sweeps. Awful decision.
Just curiious, is there a back story to the fall of USC baseball? Doesn't seem like they should be this bad with the pool of talent available.
Not sure, they've had some ncaa violations but sure why for the downfall. They haven't played in the postseason since game 3 of the Corvallis Super Regional 8 years ago. Odd how far they've fallen.
OT – BSU keeps scheduling agressively. How do they get home-and-homes when OSU usually does not? They have a smaller stadium than OSU, and the risk:reward seems the same or worse to me.

Because it's all a lie anyway. And there never was an island off the shore of Panama where US "elites" lived out debauched fantasies… on tape… and kept in a vault which may or may not have been bombed during some weird attack against some banker dude who had the audacity to get a little pissed off about his handlers.
There is so much about this country which sucks rotten eggs. But giving up is not an option.
And attacking this country itself is giving up.
I ask the really stupid 2nd Amendment supporters out there: If the 2nd Amd. is to ensure a viable militia, who, according to the US Constitution, is the captain of that and every militia?
What?
You haven't read the Constitution yet?
Fuck you! You Suck! You are a pestilence on freedom. And you probably think you're the opposite. Thar I go assuming you're going to seize on some maxim about assuming.
ESPN will be picking up in their coverage of the college baseball regionals http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/columnist/hiestand-tv/2013/04/28/espn-college-world-series-complete-tournament-coverage/2119593/
And if any of you out there think I lean toward Obama for any reason, you are just a small small person who deserves your lot in life.
Obama has been worse than idiot boy in terms of human rights within our own nation. And I'm not talking about some hazy term of "freedom." I'm willing to fight against this bitch almost as much as i was against the entitled idiot who bought his way out of war when everyone else stood up and became a man. But enough about idiot body. He sucked. His policies sucked. I can almost guarantee that his ability to remove shrubs from his constant vacationland were noexistent at best.
Yo idiot boy!!!
You reading this????
Of course not.
So… I take it that you aren't planning a trip to his new Lie-barry. A tribute to eight years of incompetence and stupidity. I was a way better head coach than chucklenuts was a president. JB
Anyone else ever notice the tendency of liberals to always speak in broad generalities when it comes to speaking politics or attacking opposing view points? They seemed to have figured out that it's difficult to debate their facts when they simply don't use facts at all. Just an observation.
(Jack – you actually don't have to respond to this because, as shocking as this may to somebody such as yourself, I don't really have the time in my day to fact check your inevitable essay and then respond with a 6,000 word compilation of my own.)
HopefulBeav….It seems to me that you are speaking in "broad generalities" when you talk about all liberals doing or not doing something… or did I miss something specific there?
My observation is that conservatives come equipped with their own set of facts that often are, in fact, untrue. Such as tax cuts create jobs.
Your very name "HopefulBeav" indicates a willingness to indulge in wishful thinking.
As pedantic as Jack can be his lengthy epistles are usually well reasoned. Not that I have ever read one in it's entirerity. JB
PS: Who would ever think that I would be defending Jack?
Strange bedfellows indeed.
To be fair, his sweeping generalization is about one broad generality, that of idiot boy being an entitled turd of monumental proportions who would have done better for himself and our country if he had instead tried to make mistakes because he surely would have failed at that as well. Never mind that he accepts that Obama is not a "liberal" and is also a "conservative" worthy of critique. If sides are to be taken, I am on the other side of center from the two. So I guess he got that correct.
So what if he conflates other more specific points (which might not support his claim) to this one post? And who cares that he claims nobody uses facts, but he would never check them anyway if they were used?
Facts are what is known to exist or be true, not a conjecture. Why would one debate a "fact"? Fact — rocks are solid objects…..debate this?
But "tax cuts create jobs" is an opinion or conjecture, not a fact. It may be an opinion that is supported by facts (stats), but still not a fact. Just sayin….
It will always be a correlation. Like most things financial/political, it is hard to confirm causation. Yet, people mistake the correlation for causation, then puff their chest and strutt around as "informed" citizens.
I think since the invention of the internet, correlation actually is causation.
Since there isn't even a correlation, they can't even do that. Even the seemingly more benign claim that tax cuts "increase revenues" is a falsity, a canard, one giant cynical lie.
Huge governement spending, on the other hand…. Not saying it's a good thing, but when more money than ever is pumped into the economy, more is also collected. I think we can all agree that 10% of 2 is more than 15% of 1.
Yep…..10% of 2 is more than 15% of 1. …. now that's a fact.
Yeah… most of us grew up in a world where you had to show your work, not just blurt out an answer… with a conclusion completely divested of the answer itself.
When people claim that 3+4=x+y+c+z+a+b-x-a-c-b-z (when y is something "I" like), and y=0.2….
Maybe the five variables cited were just diversions. Or maybe they were 6.8 of 7.
In the instance I was speaking of above it isn't even .2 of 7. That would actually be a very large factor.
It is easy to notice that in the daily financial news, whatever is visibly going on is cited as the reason for whatever stock market action takes place. Yet this is really nonsense. If the market were that easy to predict, we would all be rich.
Nothing's easy when it comes to equities. Was it you who WTF'd my joke a couple weeks ago about it?
Q: What's a four letter word starting with F and ending in K and standing for "fuck the worker?"
A: 401K
If you don't think that's funny even in a cynical tone, then you either don't or never have had one… or you run one and have to stoically defend it… or you're getting cheated out of your life savings.
Sorry… there is no other option… oops… one more… damn luck.
If you doubt me, then go look up words like "compound fees 401k."
This is well known in finance.
I haven't noticed that with many liberals, but definately the opposite happens with conservatives. Conservatives tend to make an initial statement, attempt to reference facts to support their statement, talk themselves into a corner when challenged on their "facts", then make generalized statements, then they stop the discussion.
That is because they get their "facts" from Fox News and that walking, talking human colostomy bag, Rush Limbaugh. JB
And I promised to kick stuff if that Harbaugh dude drafted Lattimore.
There's some dents in some stuff around the house.
And LM James needs to look for the next teat.
Andrew Seamalu(sp?) and Colon Kelly signed as undrafted FA.
I thought Kelly would go to Matador school in Spain after his performance in the Alamo Bowl. He was brilliant with cape as he waved Okafor by to impale The Vazmanian Devil. Ole!
Dude! .. lol ..well done.
Ms. Machado tweeting Castro Masaniai will join Andrew Seumalo going to the Redskins for rookie camp.
Good to see them get a chance.
Per Angry……….Mama Machado
For anybody still interested in sports on this site, Beavers moved up to 5th in the country in 3 of the 4 polls with Baseball American ranking them 6th. Ducks are annoying close behind.

Jace may pitch this weekend

Adding another quality experienced pitcher to the mix will be good for this team, it seems like Casey has lost confidence in a lot of the bullpen guys. I am a little concerned that our starters are logging a few too many innngs and may get worn down by the time the tournament rolls around. It would be nice to see some blow outs this next series and let Moore, Boyd & Wetzler throw around 6 innings each.
Casey has always let his starters go deep into games and as long as their pitch counts don't exceed 110 pitches I'm fine with them going all the way. Won't be an issue down the road. Gonna be nice having an ace coming out of the bullpen. Don't think they should put him in the weekend rotation cause the weekend rotation is elite and rolling, but coming out of the bullpen he would be a beast and makes the Beavers even tougher. He can also be your #4 starter for the postseason which is very important in the regionals and College World Series if you drop a game.
Yeah….this is good timing if Fry can get back to strength. Sounds like he is. Peak at the end of the season….good, good.
OT- Anybody else notice that Kyle Loomis is at PSU, trying to catch on as a 25 year old punter? Didn't Kyle leave the Beavs hanging a few years back?
Also, looks like Joe Lopez has a solid chance to be starting DT this year for the Viks.
I think Loomis went and did something like join the Army. I certainly hold no grudge against someone who chooses this over a game and the constant party we call college. And i wish him well for his future.
OT???: If this wasn't posted elsewhere re: Starks leaving…Robbins needs a class in hedging statements to not inflame or stoke controversy. But I like it-refreshing….
http://www.dailybarometer.com/column-osu-better-without-starks-1.3038357?pagereq=1#.UX_gRIJgNok
Bazing!!
Robbins has a point that he'll get those minutes, since Starks leaving makes the decision for CR as to whether he should play Starks next year. Even if Starks stayed and played flat, you know CR would give him a lot of minutes. Sounds like the guys need to do some team building over the summer/fall.
I like it, it's refreshing to hear how the younger guys really feel. Robbins was candid and was truthful about how he felt Starks leving would change the team.
Does Starks have tire marks from the bus?
I got copied on a tweet earlier today from incoming freshman Lawrence Mattison. He wanted to let the fans know he passed his ACT.
http://t.co/BjBZOdEbUZ
Anybody know if thos means he is automatically qualified to play now? Or is there still a chance he greyshirts? I’m not very well informed on how grey shirting even works. If eligible, does this mean another roster spot needs to be vacated? It sounded like Riley was planning to have to wait through academic eligibility issues with this guy originally. Big congrats either way to Lawrence. He’s proving the doubters wrong and I think thats great quality and will translate well to his game.
I think the team is 5 over the scholly limit at the moment.
I'm pretty sure greyshirting works by giving players scholarships in the winter after the season when more scholarships are available, that's when they will join the team as well. But congrats to Lawrence!
I asked him if this meant no greyshirt and he replied “that’s right, no grey shirt!”
Sounds like he’ll be eligible in the fall. Agnew leaving will help him as far as practice reps.
Hey Angry, I know you occasionally ask us if there are Amy interviews we’d be interested in. Do you think you could send a request out to this guy during the offseason? I think fans will like him and his story.
Agree on that. Just don't piss him off Angry. Might be bad for your health LOL.
Sure, send me questions you're interested in.
Just remember rule: you don't talk about Fight Club.
*the rule
We have a winner. Not to rain on the parade, but was the ACT the only issue?
Congrats to him for getting a qualifying score. Can't wait to see him steamroll a Duck!
Go Beavs!
Any guesses who the five players are that will be turned loose in order to get to the scholy limit?
Is Agnew included in that 5? Thought I read that one or more of the bar fight guys will get cut.
probably was the only thing holding him back. you only need like a 2. something to be eligible for a scholarship. I vaguley remember hearing that it would come down to his standarized test scores, but I could be wrong on that.
It's a sliding scale:

I know there's a lot of people in here who want a little more taste of Joe. Catch the IBL action with him and the Sabres vs. the mighty Chemeketa Community College Storm May 4th.

Sounds like Stefen Romero could get a chance with the Mariners pretty soon. Always fun to see Beaver baseball alums who are able to get a shot at the Majors:

I haven't heard anything solid on a new assistant for hoops. Anyone out there know anything besides a bunch of rumored names?
Who is rumored?
It's not so much that anyone is rumored. It's that names are thrown out as likely to be rumored. That's how quiet it's been. I've heard names from Bob Cantu to Pat Strickland to Bill Carmody. And I can't really say if any of them make sense or not until we get a feel for what they might be doing in Corvallis.
thx – i've never b4 heard of anything as splendid as "likely to be rumored."
That's what we get in a blog world.
Jared Nickens is visiting this weekend. At 6'7" I think he's more of a SF prospect than a SG. But the kid does have a decent handle. And he knows how to use his length on the defensive end. His style is a throwback. He reminds me in style and build of a young Alex English. He was a 2013 prospect but reclassified to 2014.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lhnfg9n4o3s
Malcolm Duvivier is also visiting this weekend. He's a 2014 PG prospect who is no-flash and all business. And he's making waves in spring ball. CR does a nice job witht kids he actually gets on campus. And this weekend should be very nice weather for one kid from Toronto and another from Philly. Expect to see both at the baseball game on Saturday with the coaches if not the team as well.

Hey, bone, afghan, and other locals, do you feel lucky? ODFW is giving away 100 tickets to the baseball game Saturday.

I saw that. I'm heading down to try and get one, if I can't get student ticket.

Too bad he didn't have anything to confirm Mattison's eligibility.
The recognition for Brasfield in recruiting is nice; OSU certainly seems to have a good stable of RBs now.
lol
Yeah, the Riley "deal." Incoming recruits Kempt and Mitchell seem to put up pretty good numbers. I still wish (don't we all) Riley could simplify things so his QBs could get results earlier.
Yeah, Obj, I've always wished Riley could/would simplify thingss so his QB's didn't need two seasons or more to get results. Your comment got me thinking, could his system be better taught by a different QB coach? I don't know but do wonder if someone like Jonathan Smith could teach the same system in a different manner. We may never know and the system will always require sophistcated reads so it is probably not worth dwelling upon. Probably better to simply hope for QB's who learn quickly and come in with a natural scrambling ability.
Beaver RBs getting some recognition:

Not sure about Ball in the top 10.
LMJ “Allusive…”
Jacquizz’s Insane Ball Security Should Have Been Mentioned. One Questionable Fumble/Incompletion In All Those Touches…Is That A Record I Wonder?
An amazing stat for sure. Made Agnew's fumbles seem more amplified by comarison.
Speaking of Agnew, I chanced upon a rebroadcast of the Wisconsin game the other night and realized how I'd forgotten how effective he was running in that game.
Agnew Was a very good running back. It is a shame he had ball control issues. However, the log jam needed cleaning up anyway.
Jovan Stevenson had ball control issues also, but of a different type. Now MR is called Gramps.
Way OT- RIP Jeff Hanneman.
Drinking in his honor tonight….one of the best.
Conforto swinging K on three pitches closes out the first inning, 0-0 going to the second.
