Big battle tonight to see who has to stay in Las Vegas and play another game. Both teams, especially the players, regardless of what you read, would be happy to shut it down for the year and move on. JB
That’s sort of a loser mentality. When winning is all that is forcing you to stay, why not just keep winning? It can be a cure all. A loss will undoubtedly shut it down for both teams. But shutting it down before you play the game?
At the very least, can we get Bill to move over here and continue his ideology? Well… can we get someone with half a set of huevos and get something remotely relevant… about something.
Thanks Steve! We’ll be sure to fight hard and really appreciate all your support. THANKS for supporting us through thin and thin. YOU are OUR champion!
OK so I’m just walking around the Mirage and I don’t see anyone. I guess I got my weeks mixed up!
Someone said try going to UNLV so I’m getting on a bicycle taxi and hope to be ready for the game. I still got some moves nobody seen yet!!!
Anybody had luck with the bus system in Vegas or if someone can give me a lift that would be great sense I somehow have spent almost all of my money and hope to stay until Saturday for the big pool party.
I get it. You’re a Duck and you see something hallucinitory. You call it a mirage. The real world calls it the inside of your front curtains… that have never been opened… therefore… you don’t know if they work. And that’s why you post stupid and really boring shit. You just can’t help but be a Duck. It’s in your nature… because you aspire to something more than worm dung. Being a Duck just happened to be on the list you were shown.

Did USC come back and win???? OMFG i walked away after halftime thinking USC was awful. Well, there goes my prediction of ASU beating UCLA. Yeah, I guess they do kind of suck. But, USC beat the beavs too. Think I heard them say USC had 9 losses in conference play by single digits.

I will give Sendek credit for not crying about playing the second game and not getting more rest before tomorrow’s game simply because his team was the higher seed.
Golly ASU… I guess you guys didn’t learn in grade school why you shoot that lay-up with your left hand… like everyone else in the world is taught. It’s just so stupid to offer up that ball toward the middle when you know a big is coming to help. That’s and easy two with the left.
Then again… Sendek was an idiot for not calling TO when they crossed half court with :30 left… then doubly an idiot for not calling one when they were lucky enough to get the first O-board.
We should take note. The refs were calling nothing in the last four minutes… NOTHING.
This will be our closest game of the Tourney. Somehow we will become the Cinderella story and eventually the darlings of the Dance when we’re made to play-in on Tuesday and still manage to make it to the Sweet 16… in the East regional.
They’re not calling much today. Wait until crunch time. Felonies will occur, and all you can do is look on in amazement.
I think the Pac is toughening up the league by doing so, but I think they’re behind the swing of the pendulum. This is a 90’s and 00’s thing. Hoops is going back to 80’s ball minus the occasional hits… that would get you tossed for four games nowadays.
Odd watching this team be so powerful on offense and so soft on defense. Team is a lot fresher than usual after a week off, but that defense is getting to me just because CU is getting so many easy looks. Lock up.
Yup real weird game…will the defense get better, the offense get worse? At least the last two minutes were kind of a stalemate this time instead of a huge momentum loser like in some of the previous games.
yup. Need to stop jacking up 3’s and take the ball to the basket, start playing better D. FT disparity is alarming. But that’s what you get when you settle for jumpers and your opponent attacks the rim
Also, I feel like the beavs are blowing too many easy points (2 layups to start the 2nd half, eg), and it will bite them soon. This is game is at the tipping point.
Game was over last 5 minutes of first half when the Beaver tanks ran out of gas. Tinkle had a couple gerry cans in the locker room at halftime but it wasn’t enough. They were on fumes at the end…
Beavs on the ropes. Layups and lack of discipline defensively the only reasons the Beavers don’t have a comfortable lead. Looking like it’s slipping away
Cal game a little more. Lead in second half evaporates when the opposition catches fire from three. If the usual Beavers defense shows up in first half they’re up big at halftime. Tough loss
If this is what you would call full force, you’re a drip.
But what do you expect from a Duck?
The only thing I’m surprised about is how fucking racist you are. THAT I would not call a Duck trait, and you should be ashamed to smear true fans with your vile.
What the fuck was Reid doing??? Game over. I hate, hate, hate these runs every team goes on against the Beavers away from Gill. It just is what it is at this point.
Horrible opening loss to lower division opponent: Western Oregon / Eastern Washington
Go on an early season run: 14-0 at Gill, reach 16-7 / win 6 in a row
Late season collapse: lose seven of last 8 / lose 5 of last 6
Lose heartbreaking Civil War: by three points / by one point
I’d say this is the worst loss all year.
Tinkle didn’t lose some guys (mentally), huh? Well something has drastically changed. Zero heart/zero effort. And with 7 days rest…
They just gave up the most points all season to one of the worst teams in the conference.
I’m not sure what your comment even means since I picked the Beavs to win the game, and thought they could even beat Oregon (Reason being they had a lot of rest, easy draw, etc). Proven right? I was proven wrong. What I didn’t factor in was that Tinkle was (a) joking around about the walk-ons leading up to the game and (b) he lost players last week. Forgot all about that and didn’t factor it in enough. Joking around like that before a big game is never a good idea. I thought yesterday’s move was classless. Mocking fans, setting a jokey tone for a big game, etc. Tinkle has been a train wreck the past week.
My lady said “there was something off about the way they played”…and she doesn’t watch much OSU hoops. Yeah, that something was a team not wanting to buy into a 50 something year old coach who is apparently more interested in trolling fans than winning games.
If you didn’t want the Beavs to lose, why gloat about it? Why make snide comments about how you’re “right” that Tinkle lost the team mentally? Why put up a post basically trolling everyone who disagreed with you right after the game? Sure seems like you were more concerned about your viewpoints being proven right than the team winning to me.
I’ll admit I didn’t really watch them play tonight, so I don’t know how they looked in terms of body posture. I highly doubt one joke from the head coach destroyed the team’s motivation to play though. If the team’s that mentally weak, we weren’t going to go to the NIT no matter what.
Partly why they gave up the most points they have all year, and the beavs also scored the most in the first half than they have in any other conference game, was that they took shots way earlier in the shot clock, and therefore didn’t slow the tempo like they typically do. It was just a really different offensive game for the beavs than they usually played. It didn’t help that the buffs shot really well from the line, the beavs didn’t, and that the beavs got out rebounded and missed several gimmies. There was also the usual fatigue issue at the end of each half and the D becomes softer. Blaming Tinkle for some jokes and assuming he “lost” the team is grasping.
Well, Angry’s prediction was wrong. And as everyone should be well aware of by now, he loses his shit when that happens and has to come up with an explanation for it, an explanation that involves him being right about something else.
And against a horrible team. Just coincidence, though. It had nothing to do with Tinkle making a mockery of everything all week and setting a jokey tone. He was also puffing his chest after the walk-on fiasco and said something to the effect he could do that because they had already exceeded expectations. I really don’t know what got into WT, but he had a horrible week.
So you dont allow that the team is getting worn down, and just doesnt have the energy, this last section of the season. No, its gotta be the coaching….lol. That’s not like the astute Angry we often see. Maybe angry is a bit worn down…
This season feels like going to McDonald’s. You enter, expecting nothing but shit sandwiches. To your surprise, you get a 5-course meal! The first three courses are downright gourmet. You hang around, ecstatic, and then you get the last two… and sure enough, there come the shit sandwiches.
Sure the experience was better than expected overall, but you’re still left with a bad taste in your mouth.
Kind of interesting how you immediately assume the “ghost of Craig Robinson” has a negative connotation. Hey Vic…..what NAIA school are you going to be playing at next year?
Walton adds an interesting train wreck factor to any broadcast. You kind of get two games in one…the actual game on TV and the game Walton is watching.
FT’s and rebounds. Buffs shot 50% for the game and won the battle 39-26 on the glass. Both teams made 24 FG’s, the Beavs 3 more 3 pointers. Difference, Buffs 24/26 at the line, Beavs 14/22
Stepping back from it all, good job Beavs. Disappointing way to end, but a winning season this particular year plus a win over #7 Arizona is a good accomplishment.
Sorry people. Even though Tinkle ia fine at home, I have doubts about his road ability in coming years. First 62% of the season was good but if honest with myself I believe Howland would have produced simularly and besides one more lucky recruiting year, would have probably brought superior recruits over the next 5 years. Tinkle has weaknesses too despite some strong points. Improved attendance is good but Howland would have had it too. No guarantee this team makes the NIT next year. I’d say its maybe 50-50. Until team learns to win on the road, they gave little room for improvement as far as wins or conference positioning. I’ll acknoledge the season as it really was. A nuce spurt followed by teams adjusting better to us and iften us worse to them. We lost 9 of our last 10 right? The winber’s mentality still has a big hill to climb next year. Here’s hoping to a team with more offensive punch.
Umm… You know Colorado shot a ridiculous % from the free throw line tonight??? That’s the first star line I look at in a game. Your selling the Beavers short here. Next year will be better.
Howland would have brought instant sanctions and rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, as he is wont to do. GP2 likely would have gone somewhere else, and then you get what’s left to play a whole season.
I’m not quite sure why you think you know anything abut hoops. This team will be at least five wins better next year. They will be three or four conference wins better.
I sort of pity you and your stuck-in-the-what-if mentality.
How is that even possible to review and make a call for a foul after a play and points were made? No whistle means it didn’t happen. The guy flopped anyways. There are many time during the course of a game that could be reviewed post fact. I’m all for getting things right but a no call/no whistle should not be reviewable.
Disappointing end to the season, and very odd end too. First with the Civil War walk on starts (which I am more than OK with) then the interesting loss to CU, especially since we’re known as a good defensive team. CU hit a ton of free throws and beasted on the boards. Do that and you’re good. 1-7 to close out the season for us.
Tinkle has some chinks in his armor. I think he’s a great coach, and the wins will come to fruition in this 2015-16 year. I’m setting expectations at 12 Pac-12 wins next year. But like I said, he’s not perfect. We sputtered at the end of the year, there are scoring droughts sometimes, and we don’t respond to runs by the other team well. We end halves poorly. No road game. I hope these are addressed. I can guarantee he’ll put in the time to improve just like the players.
As of now, shut it down, get some rest, and good job Beavs this year! I truly appreciated this year of basketball and I look forward to November when they’ll be back at it. I know the current players are gonna be hard at work this summer because of the hotshot freshmen that want PT. Fun times on the horizon.
I listened to last night’s game intermittently – wanting to avoid Bill Walton’s nonsense and Mike Parker’s tangents, I listened to the Colorado radio announcers. They called the game from Colorado’s viewpoint, of course, but had praise for the Beavs. They noted that Shaftenaar can only shoot 3s if his feet are really set. Early on, I thought the coaches, especially Rupp, were going to try to use Olaf more in the paint, so I’m disappointed that didn’t seem to work out.
You do realize that all the weaknesses you pointed out for the back end of the season were our strengths for the front end and when we had some modicum of depth.
My prediction of the starting lineup and avg min –
G – Payton II – 30min
PG – Duvivier – 25min
SG – Thompson – 25min
SF – Tinkle – 25min
F/C – Gomis – 20min
Rotation – in this order
SG- LMW – 20min
F – Reid – 20min
SF – Olaf – 15min
PG – Bruce – 15min
C – Eubanks – 3min
C – Rakocevic – 2min
C – N’Diaye – 0min
F – Robbins – If Tinkle is going to keep him, I would redshirt him.
If the team can maintain the defensive identity, I think they finish +500 in the league. This team will suddenly have a lot more depth. I think Tinkle and Thompson’s minutes will be limited early so they can get acclimated and then extended once conference play starts. Hard to see the young bigs get a lot of minutes. Neither is a dominant player in HS.
I marked him as the PG because I think Bruce won’t be ready to play a lot of minutes so that makes Duvivier the primary ball handler. The rest of the ball handling will be picked up by Payton.
Bruce’s handle is far better than anyone on the OSU roster right now. In fact, if you look around our league, there’s not really any true PG except at Zony… maybe Williams-Goss. And Randle at SU is the only spectacular handle. Bruce is a one man press break.
And he’s now a year removed from high school as well, playing against better, more consistent opponents.
He and Thompson are old school, gangly, dynamic players… longer than they are tall. And they eat opponents alive on D. Throw in a tall lefty swing with a great perimeter stroke and defensive skills good enough to cover 2-5, we’re just one Alcindor away from being 1967-68 UCLA.
Tinkle has mentioned a couple of times that Duvivier is playing out of position. I think Bruce and Thompson are going to get their share of minutes at the point from the get go. I just hope Duvivier continues to improve even with reduced minutes, he seems to be able to get his shot off against anyone. I could see him as an instant offense kind of guy, but if it’s not there of a given night his minutes go down.
He’s going to graduate this term, I believe… maybe next.
He has one year of eligibility left. But he can also apply for a medical hardship waiver and gain a sixth year as well. Rhys Murphy graduated in three years (with honors) and went to Chaminade and still had three years of eligibility to get another degree if he wanted. It only took him two years to get that degree though.
He’s probably a good contact for the current staff to get a hold of and talk to as an OSU alum… since he went home and started this business…. http://ausahoops.com/
Daniel can stay for one or two more years and earn other degrees (for free) as well. Or he can go to another school without any transfer penalties and do the same. Or he can go make some money as a pro somewhere. Or, or, or, or….
It’s amazing how many opportunities a free college edumucation grants someone if one were to apply themselves.
I was under the impression he would get his degree this term. He spent 2 years not playing bb. I assume he was working on his degree during that time. From what I’ve read, he has world-wide plans that aren’t just about basketball.
Stephen Thompson Jr, has led his team to a section title and will compete for the CA open title as the overall #1 seed(I have no idea how CA hs bball works). His team is ranked top 25 in the nation and won a state title last year.
Tres Tinkle’s team is the top ranked team in Montana going into the playoffs.
These guys aren’t going to bring AAU attitudes next year, they’ll bring win championships attitude.
Oregon State coach Wayne Tinkle was asked Monday, as the Beavers were preparing in Corvallis for the Pac-12 tournament, if his team would be interested in playing beyond their stay in Las Vegas if it wasn’t the NCAA or NIT that had room.
Tinkle said then it wasn’t likely, given how worn down his short rotation has become, which he’s mentioned numerous times in recent weeks.
Tinkle was asked again in the postgame press conference Wednesday after a 78-71 loss to Colorado and a few minutes later in the OSU locker room.
“We’ll take some time to think about it,” he said in the press conference. “Those are all great tournaments. But I’m a little concerned, to be honest, about our guys and the numbers that we have and our bodies right now. But we’ll take some time and certainly entertain, because those are all great events. But it’s something we’ll have to think about.”
Maybe he didn’t want to make a rash decision, or give the impression that it was one.
But on my way out of the locker room he shook my hand, patted me on the shoulder and said, “it’s been a great year.”
I’m thinking that given the fact that they are no seniors on the team, it makes it easier to say no to a CBI bid in addition to the depth concerns. The being tired excuse is a little funny considering that if they were winning now they would be playing a schedule that was more demanding then anything the CBI would throw at them. It’s not like they would say no to more P-12 tourney games or a NCAA bid. Coaches just can’t come out and say the CBI is a weird little tournament full of also rans, but it’s what some of them want to say.
Last night was just a game where Tinks let the team play. They weren’t going to try and grind it out. They just let loose and let happen what may. It’s possible we could have given that effort for 30 minutes then again just lose our legs and watch CU pummel us down the stretch. But that’s no way to end a season.
In the end, only four teams in the country end their season with a win… well… except for maybe a couple Ivy League teams.
I think many, myself included, saw this team running out of gas at the end of the season 1-7 finish. It was hard not to get swept up in thought that this team might be able to make a magical run and get into a major tourney. It didn’t happen, but there is much to be excited about.
What the team lacked going down the stretch was some leadership, I was hoping that would come from GP2 but it didn’t. We need a guy on the team that will be able to score at times to stop other teams runs and regain the momentum. I would like to see him slash to the paint and put up a free throw distance jumper. He made one or two last night and I was thinking we need more of that.
The current players have some limits to their games. Gomis’s hands need to be better, Olaf needs to provide more help on the boards, and LMW needs to play more consistently on both ends.
But I do like what I see in their development. Gomis has made strides and Duvivier has grown as a player. I like N’Daye he is raw, but he has a nice touch close in. He just needs to cut down on his fouls. What the team needs is penetrating point guard who can distribute the ball.
A “walk on” is a guy with a chip on his shoulder that thinks he is as good as the privileged scholarship guys and wants to prove it. The bulk of the Beaver backups are not actually “walk ons” ,but more like draftees that were enlisted after an all hands on deck call to save a sinking ship. This is a subtle but important distinction. The 28 seconds of fame reward was totally appropriate for the draftees. But the spin of starting five “walk ons” is only technically accurate…and cannot be repeated.
When one uses the term “dude”, they are either:
1. over 65 and have smoked a lot of pot or
2. an over the hill 28-35 year old hipster. In between, the term conjures up old hippy. Under 28 and the term means you not be stylin any more. What’s your sign? Peace and out.
sounds like Vanderveen was practicing with the H-backs today. probably needs to pack on the lbs. this off season. Wonder if this is how they’ll plan to use Tuli Wily-Matagi when he gets to campus too? Beavs could have the H-back option in their arsenal this year.
Thanks. This is a huge get, but as a true rodent I was prepaired for the worst. His dad was a football player, his mom a tennis player, and his grandfather an ex AD at the U of M. So if we couldn’t get him it would have been really disappointing. So glad he is not going to be a quack. Oregon has a committ from a 4 star QB, Seth Green, from one of the eastern burbs here. Having them poach another from here would have made me sick. There is a third elite player from in state, a DT, and he has already committed. Pretty pumped!
BASEBALL: Any of you degenerates (love that that term was introduced by ?? Whiskey? BG?..??) paying the freight at D1 Baseball? Looks like they have a story on “raising profiles” which includes the Beavs.
That was the upside of the Beavs loss last night at the tournament. Hellgate is predicted to win the championship this year, as they were last year. However, a starless Helena Capital team – emphasis on team – won.
I’ve been to many a Riley-era practice and never saw anything quite so instructive and helpful as the drill, near the end of the video, where’s he’s throwing what looks like bean bags at the QB’s to simulate the rush or related distractions. This team will be so much better prepared than the late-Riley squads people will be amazed
Gina up with a Thursday practice report. (remember to set Ghostery to allow only Livefyre).
-Vanderveen working as TE???
-How about Andersen calling on Peko for the fair catch fun-n-games; and Peko catching w/o using his body……….must be the yoga.
You can tell Gina isn’t too crazy about the limited access (including offensive players being off-limits on Thursday). From her report, I’m not worried about the fair catch thing evolving into some sort of slip-n-slide.
1-Agree about Riley’s use of the media, an easy schtick to accomplish when you have background at the school; we’ll see how long the Nebraska media falls for it (eventhough they longed for a change from Bo).
2-If you check Gina’s piece now you’ll see a commenter who claims to have spoken with Peko and says he claims schoolwork is well under control.
3-Nice to see the lack of attention paid to VR below.
Tres Tinkle and Hellgate upset by Great Falls 76-54 in the first round of the AA boys tournament. That’s gotta be tough as one of the reasons he stayed in Montana for his senior year was to win a state championship with guys he’s known since grade school
Not really so much a case of coming back, as it is staying put. I can understand a kid not wanting to leave his highschool between his junior/senior years.
BASEBALL: Important game in an important series tonight at 6:30, on OSU Stream. A chance to break into the top 25 (not that that matters at this stage of the season).
GO ANDREW and bats!
They’re saying he might walk on here at OSU? I’m not too familiar with how Pat Strickland was at OSU, but it would be interesting if he was thrown into the fray. Seems like a kid that might benefit more from a Juco stint then transferring here or redshirting or something.
PBH #1. I rule.
Lord love a Duck.
Somebody has to love them
That’s kinda why there’s a maxim about some fairy tale figure loving them.
Somebody has to do it.
In all honesty, they fluff their feathers and poop on my lawn.
Yay for Ducks!
At least they don’t suborn intelligent thought.
That would be awkward.
OK
At the very least, can we get Bill to move over here and continue his ideology? Well… can we get someone with half a set of huevos and get something remotely relevant… about something.
Yeah….
Go tired legged Beavs
They should use their tails.
Wish we were there.
Go Beavs!
GO BEAVS!! Just fight hard, the way you have done in home games, and do us proud. …and THANKS, for the winning season!
Thanks Steve! We’ll be sure to fight hard and really appreciate all your support. THANKS for supporting us through thin and thin. YOU are OUR champion!
Nice to see the love!
#bevaernatshion
Actually this one made me laugh for once
Yup
OK so I’m just walking around the Mirage and I don’t see anyone. I guess I got my weeks mixed up!

We get it. Yay! Go you!.
do I need to say anything else good about them? What? Wait… this is all saved? Do I look like some culty Jesus saving the world? How far back does the save go?
I have to run a backup do to some file corruption, so the site might go down for a bit.
Remember how I was saying ASU stinks, despite the record?
Did USC come back and win???? OMFG i walked away after halftime thinking USC was awful. Well, there goes my prediction of ASU beating UCLA. Yeah, I guess they do kind of suck. But, USC beat the beavs too. Think I heard them say USC had 9 losses in conference play by single digits.

I will give Sendek credit for not crying about playing the second game and not getting more rest before tomorrow’s game simply because his team was the higher seed.
Yes… I’m talking about you, Romar.
Golly ASU… I guess you guys didn’t learn in grade school why you shoot that lay-up with your left hand… like everyone else in the world is taught. It’s just so stupid to offer up that ball toward the middle when you know a big is coming to help. That’s and easy two with the left.

We should take note. The refs were calling nothing in the last four minutes… NOTHING.
Line now CO -4, total up to 118. Still sticking with Beavs 59-57.
Beavs will win. We got that first round upset out of the way already. Thanks USC
This will be our closest game of the Tourney. Somehow we will become the Cinderella story and eventually the darlings of the Dance when we’re made to play-in on Tuesday and still manage to make it to the Sweet 16… in the East regional.
Or… this will be our closest game of the Tourney.
Forget “I wanna be like Mike.” I wanna be like Bill Walton. He just seems happier.
His conversationalism is efflurious.
Yeah… I know where humanity lies on the intelligebce scale.
Oh yeah, the intelligebce scale. I had forgotten that one.
I typed it out that way then corrected it. Then I figured it was funnier with the b.
Why not?
You were right… as always!
is this game ever going to start!?
6:12 now…
Duvivier with a 3 for the first points of the game
Does it seem like over the back just doesn’t get called anymore?
They’re not calling much today. Wait until crunch time. Felonies will occur, and all you can do is look on in amazement.
I think the Pac is toughening up the league by doing so, but I think they’re behind the swing of the pendulum. This is a 90’s and 00’s thing. Hoops is going back to 80’s ball minus the occasional hits… that would get you tossed for four games nowadays.
Every time we make a basket, we promptly give up one at the other end
Beavs are playing some real soft interior defense. Buffs are not settling for threes.
Yeah, what stands out so far is the weak D. I had CO at 49 points. They will score that early 2nd half.
Perimeter defense is the issue. Colorado is getting in the lane at will. Beavers aren’t closing out to shooters well and getting blown by.
Odd watching this team be so powerful on offense and so soft on defense. Team is a lot fresher than usual after a week off, but that defense is getting to me just because CU is getting so many easy looks. Lock up.
Team looks fresh. Hitting the 3’s consistently.
Feels like a game from last year. Zero defense and a lot of offense from both teams
If I was out there it would be 50-0!
We’re playing hoops here Duckie. This isn’t an IQ test.
Free throws killing us
Stupid bail out fouls has kept Colorado in this. Should be up double digits
Payton needs to stop fouling.
Olaf :-( Get it together, man!
Thank you!
I am not a fan of Laissez-faire hoops.
Hell, I’m not a fan of anything Laissez-faire.
So why bother?
This defense is so terrible.
3 happy and refs are whistle happy can’t call N’daye for that
As is often our fate… Selective-faire.
Thank you Wayne. Gotta get to the rim and to the bonus.
hmmm Wendy’s woman actually looks kind of hot in that commercial
Sorta bobble-heady though…
..’course if she did that on her knees it might be ok…
Sorry cj, she would never cheat on asiago
..true – ;(
No D, jacking up 3s…somehow have the lead. Very odd game.
Olaf is one of the worst rebounding 6’10” guys ever
LMW blows an uncontested layup and then commits a weak foul for an and 1. He has to drive Tinkle insane
Tinkle took him out and he would still be out if Olaf hadn’t picked up his third foul
Head case LMW
Starting to attack the paint a bit more.
Reid and Payton need to drive more.
Also, I feel like the beavs are blowing too many easy points (2 layups to start the 2nd half, eg), and it will bite them soon. This is game is at the tipping point.
Having GP2 at the top of the zone takes away from our rebounding, because Olaf isn’t strong enough to block their #4 spot
Even Bill Walton can see the Beavs miss a lot of layins
Luck of the beavs. GP II steal and Colorado intentionally fouls and GP misses FT
Payton’s foul shooting has become increasing erratic as the year has progressed.
This is so confusing! Tinkle needs to run more of the plays I told him to!!!
Booker is only scoring because of dumb fouls
not anymore
Very important part in the game here , sensing the Beavs might be letting this one go.
WT agrees
Game over.
You could feel it wanting to break the wrong way for a while now.
yeeeep its done
Game was over last 5 minutes of first half when the Beaver tanks ran out of gas. Tinkle had a couple gerry cans in the locker room at halftime but it wasn’t enough. They were on fumes at the end…
I’m hoping the CBI isn’t in the Beav picture. They don’t need it.
Beavs on the ropes. Layups and lack of discipline defensively the only reasons the Beavers don’t have a comfortable lead. Looking like it’s slipping away
Not blocking out is killing them
Feels like Stanford game…..
Cal game a little more. Lead in second half evaporates when the opposition catches fire from three. If the usual Beavers defense shows up in first half they’re up big at halftime. Tough loss
Fuck. Booker has caught fire. This one and the season is over. No fucking defense whatsoever
That’s why I could’ve been the number 1 helper in this game! Don’t give up ya wimp!
fuck off. give it a rest dipshit. Go teabag Altman or Young
You are so fucking small! How dare you!
your mom didn’t think I was small
And besides, Young and Altman are to busy tea bagging Wayne Tinkle and the Beavers all the way home just like the rest of the league.
Gonna be a long off season but at least you can count on me being back and full of force!
#blessed
Put your mouth to better use
If this is what you would call full force, you’re a drip.
But what do you expect from a Duck?
The only thing I’m surprised about is how fucking racist you are. THAT I would not call a Duck trait, and you should be ashamed to smear true fans with your vile.
That’s ball game.
wow.bad basketball
What the fuck was Reid doing??? Game over. I hate, hate, hate these runs every team goes on against the Beavers away from Gill. It just is what it is at this point.
sorry, i shouldnt have tuned in. got here in time for the last 3 minutes which were all shitty basketball. I’ll turn it off now
OK???
This season is closely mirroring football 2013:
Horrible opening loss to lower division opponent: Western Oregon / Eastern Washington
Go on an early season run: 14-0 at Gill, reach 16-7 / win 6 in a row
Late season collapse: lose seven of last 8 / lose 5 of last 6
Lose heartbreaking Civil War: by three points / by one point
Thanks for the reminder, dick! I got solo wasted at that civil war game thinking straight shots of Jack Daniels would help the team win!
Looks like PBH was right.
Missed lay ups, missed free throws. The margin for error is so thin for this team.
3 bad fouls on Booker gave away 8 points and and they missed 4 layups. Difference in the game.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH JARNAL HE SEEMS FAT???!!
Your moms been feeding him in the morning
That was a flop
Nice to see Payton II put Booker on his ass! At least they aren’t giving up
Nm wasn’t booker. Too bad
They have to fix these stupid ass rules. Nothing to see, but why do I feel the Beavers are going to get screwed.
More like stupid-ass refs, but it’s the Pac-12, what else is new
That is such crap.
That’s not a flagrant. No elbows and cheap shots. Ridiculous. Officials missed the call originally and wanted to make up for it
Yep, back in the day the official would’ve run by the bench and said, “sorry, I might have missed one” and the game goes on
Wow. Why don’t they just review after every possession to look for flagrant fouls?
Ohh Noooooo-Laf!!!!!
I’d say this is the worst loss all year.
Tinkle didn’t lose some guys (mentally), huh? Well something has drastically changed. Zero heart/zero effort. And with 7 days rest…
;)
Didn’t you see the pre-game interview? He told everyone to only pack for one day
You know correlation doesn’t equal causation, right?
Plus, wanting your own team to lose just so you can be proven right is kind of low.
*snores*
The walk ons are pissed they did not start.
That was by far the worst defense of the season.
Maybe angry is a bit worn down…
That Reid turnover is probably the end.
Thanks for overachieving, Beavers!
Says who? By what metric?
We’ll play more games next year.
If I was swinging elbows out there we’d never lose!!
Huh?
Gourmet at McDonald’s?
Your bar for food is lower than ground level.
that’s why the gourmet courses were surprising
Gonna punch Olaf’s face all offseason. Hope to toughen up hi face.
go away
he’ll be skeeting all over yours
Who allowed the ghost of Craig Robinson into the MGM Grand tonight?
HEY DONT YOU EVER TALK BAD ABOUT COACH ROBINSON HE LOVED US AND LIKE IS BASICALLY THE PRESIDENT OF THE USA AND ALSO THE PAC12!!!
DONT MAKE THIS GET TOO REAL DOE PUNK!!! YOU WIFE AND KIDS ON HER RE TO OOO
http://www.quickmeme.com/img/2f/2f3640a3393b93b2fb5049e133de5addf3bef697aa7e96e11d866c2399f0b0e8.jpg
Kind of interesting how you immediately assume the “ghost of Craig Robinson” has a negative connotation. Hey Vic…..what NAIA school are you going to be playing at next year?
The worst part is having to listen to Walton go on and on.
What a horrible voice.
Walton isn’t great, but he’s not bad as Dick Vitale.
Walton adds an interesting train wreck factor to any broadcast. You kind of get two games in one…the actual game on TV and the game Walton is watching.
I’m not sure there’s a game going on in his head. Flashbacks to the 60’s maybe
Maybe he’s still at a Grateful Dead concert…
Walton is genuine, entertaining, and always positive/flattering to everyone. He’s hard to hate.
Yes, apparently Gomis was the second coming of Rick Mahorn tonight.
Next year should be better, but you can’t overlook the fact that our only road wins were at Portland and Washington State.
I understand the road problems. But Colorado was red hot at the line. You make your free throws you normally win. Just my thoughts.
…or overlook the fact that after Robbins went out we were 6-10, with essentially 6 players.
Burnout baby..it would have happened with any coach!
fuck him. he can take his me first attitude and bottle of whatever 40 miles down the road for all I care
Yeah, just sayin’…
You realize that OSU wanted Howland but couldn’t pay him what he was asking.
electric eye had some inside info that turned OSU off from Howland
Howland would have brought instant sanctions and rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, as he is wont to do. GP2 likely would have gone somewhere else, and then you get what’s left to play a whole season.
I’m not quite sure why you think you know anything abut hoops. This team will be at least five wins better next year. They will be three or four conference wins better.
I sort of pity you and your stuck-in-the-what-if mentality.
There were also questionable goings-on during his time at UCLA, like players peeing on each others’ stuff or something
Most of that was likely Nelson being demented. But Howland did tolerate it far too long and lost some good players to transfers.
How is that even possible to review and make a call for a foul after a play and points were made? No whistle means it didn’t happen. The guy flopped anyways. There are many time during the course of a game that could be reviewed post fact. I’m all for getting things right but a no call/no whistle should not be reviewable.
We can’t get a r’bound since I was cuffed and stuffed
we know you got arrested. Did something happen while in jail you’d rather not talk about? Or maybe liked?
Well he did say he got “stuffed”…
I’d put the benchmark at 10 conference wins and an upper half of the conference finish
No shit, eh?
Time to look forward to next year.
My prediction of the starting lineup and avg min –
G – Payton II – 30min
PG – Duvivier – 25min
SG – Thompson – 25min
SF – Tinkle – 25min
F/C – Gomis – 20min
Rotation – in this order
SG- LMW – 20min
F – Reid – 20min
SF – Olaf – 15min
PG – Bruce – 15min
C – Eubanks – 3min
C – Rakocevic – 2min
C – N’Diaye – 0min
F – Robbins – If Tinkle is going to keep him, I would redshirt him.
If the team can maintain the defensive identity, I think they finish +500 in the league. This team will suddenly have a lot more depth. I think Tinkle and Thompson’s minutes will be limited early so they can get acclimated and then extended once conference play starts. Hard to see the young bigs get a lot of minutes. Neither is a dominant player in HS.
I think Thompson will be the star freshman.
Duvivier is not a PG. Current team does not have one. Look for Derrick Bruce to fulfill that role immediately.
I marked him as the PG because I think Bruce won’t be ready to play a lot of minutes so that makes Duvivier the primary ball handler. The rest of the ball handling will be picked up by Payton.
“You can quote it any way want it, from day one he will be the best point guard in the Pac-12.”
http://www.oregonlive.com/recruiting/index.ssf/2014/11/derrick_bruce_oregon_state_bea.html
You can’t doubt anyone that goes by Kool-Aid.
no shit, right? I laughed my ass off at that
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUP3Zi87-uc
According to Tinkle, Stephen Thompson Jr can play PG as well
My predictions are written in stone, I can’t change them ever now.
Damn! What etching tool did you use?
Does Rakocevic have a hook shot?
Tinkle has mentioned a couple of times that Duvivier is playing out of position. I think Bruce and Thompson are going to get their share of minutes at the point from the get go. I just hope Duvivier continues to improve even with reduced minutes, he seems to be able to get his shot off against anyone. I could see him as an instant offense kind of guy, but if it’s not there of a given night his minutes go down.
10 wins is a lock next year. We’ll decide if they’ll be more by December.
Robbins, if he’s still on the team, won’t be seen until February. What are the odds that he can stay clean that long?
about as likely as me getting a one nighter with Mila Kunis
You too? Ashton’s gonna be pissed!
meh, he married his mom. Not too worried about that nancy boy
I’d marry her too!
Who?
haven’t these kids heard of the whizzinator?
What doesn’t go on at MSP Airport?
Why did you list every player by last name except Olaf?
What about Noah Togiai?
Yeah, he will be here too.
I will be surprised if Gomis sticks around.
Where will he go? He’s a senior next year. He’s already red-shirted I believe and if he transfers won’t he lose his last year and be done?
OK, just read that report. So maybe he leave. That may not be a bad ‘deal’…
What report?
In O-live
I was under the impression he would get his degree this term. He spent 2 years not playing bb. I assume he was working on his degree during that time. From what I’ve read, he has world-wide plans that aren’t just about basketball.
Look to the future
http://www.examiner.com/article/knights-win-cif-ss-open-crown-top-seed-regionals
So goodbye to Sanders, Livesay, Dahlen, Roth, Hedgecock, Stangel, & Boswell (I suppose they can walk on next year and make the practice team).
Thanks for everything you did for this year’s team!
But on my way out of the locker room he shook my hand, patted me on the shoulder and said, “it’s been a great year.”
http://www.gazettetimes.com/blogs/jesse-sowa/osu-men-s-basketball-season-almost-certainly-done/article_ef48f886-c876-11e4-ac0a-13e7798a1953.html
This sums up my feelings about wasting athletic department money to play in the CBI:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=umDr0mPuyQc
They should play only the walk-ons in the CBI.
That would be funny… or sad.
Stop it, why are you even sending that thought out into the universe?! :-P
I look forward to next season.
This Saturday is the first scrimmage of spring practice. Open practice.
Let’s see how the QBs look.
^^ whatever you say Dude.
Do you go home and make your kids kick kittens in the head or something?
no. he makes his kids watch him do it
When one uses the term “dude”, they are either:
1. over 65 and have smoked a lot of pot or
2. an over the hill 28-35 year old hipster. In between, the term conjures up old hippy. Under 28 and the term means you not be stylin any more. What’s your sign? Peace and out.
The dude abides.
Hey dude, tell me how my life would be better had the ducks won the football NC already!
Where’s my car?
sounds like Vanderveen was practicing with the H-backs today. probably needs to pack on the lbs. this off season. Wonder if this is how they’ll plan to use Tuli Wily-Matagi when he gets to campus too? Beavs could have the H-back option in their arsenal this year.
OT… sign it and pass it on.
https://www.change.org/p/oregon-state-senate-oregon-state-house-pass-senate-bill-8-to-extend-the-statute-of-limitations-for-prosecuting-rape?utm_campaign=responsive_friend_inviter_chat&utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=share_petition&recruiter=252345346
Question: Can residents of Nebraska sign it? Maybe we should forward it to them?
BG, saw you guys out-recruited Ohio State and Oregon on this one. Go rodents. I think you made Andrew Nemec cry actually…
Andrew Nemec ?@AndrewNemec 24m24 minutes ago
4* LB Carter Coughlin (@Cmoe34) commits to Minnesota Gophers over Oregon Ducks, Ohio State Buckeyes
Not the article you’re after, but here’s another from the same site: http://www.d1baseball.com/weekend-preview/weekend-preview-march-13-15/
The Montana pipeline….
Parker Bernhardt ?@ParkerBernhardt 30m30 minutes ago
Just got an offer from Coach Tinkle to hoop it up at Oregon State. Asked if I could rebound.
I can’t even find much on this kid other than he plays football too.
He’s joking. Tinks is in Butte today for the Montana AA Tourney.
A little search engine told me he’s signed to play football at Carroll College.
cool story, thx
Neat deal
That was the upside of the Beavs loss last night at the tournament. Hellgate is predicted to win the championship this year, as they were last year. However, a starless Helena Capital team – emphasis on team – won.
Anyone catch the fill-ins on the radio talking down basketball expectations for next year?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JKGZiATpNE
Much better throws from Del Rio than from Mitchell or Collins on that video.
I think it’ll come down to Del Rio and Collins. Honestly Collins reminds me of Vince Young during his Texas days.
What about the water balloon fights? Those were distracting.
Maybe they can practice fair-catching water balloons while on a slip-n-slide?
and eating popsicles
Gina up with a Thursday practice report. (remember to set Ghostery to allow only Livefyre).
-Vanderveen working as TE???
-How about Andersen calling on Peko for the fair catch fun-n-games; and Peko catching w/o using his body……….must be the yoga.
You can tell Gina isn’t too crazy about the limited access (including offensive players being off-limits on Thursday). From her report, I’m not worried about the fair catch thing evolving into some sort of slip-n-slide.
EDIT-ADD: Horowitz with more in depth about Peko and a good quote from Justin Strong.
http://www.statesmanjournal.com/story/sports/college/oregon-state/2015/03/12/peko-making-strides-field-classroom/70223060/
no doubt, OOB, but then it’s clear that media access was part of Riley’s deviousness; it’s how he “bought” so much favorable coverage.
Regarding 2, there was also an article written about Peko in the Statesman Journal recently
http://www.statesmanjournal.com/story/sports/college/oregon-state/2015/03/12/peko-making-strides-field-classroom/70223060/
notice the shot that Sitake takes at Riley’s management of Peko’s academic scuffle in Horowitz’ piece
no?
Ooooooo kill emmm… world starrrr!
I <3 this track.
Straight cakez!!!

Tres Tinkle and Hellgate upset by Great Falls 76-54 in the first round of the AA boys tournament. That’s gotta be tough as one of the reasons he stayed in Montana for his senior year was to win a state championship with guys he’s known since grade school

You beat me to it and I’m there!
When will athletes learn that coming back for unfinished business generally doesn’t end well?
Not really so much a case of coming back, as it is staying put. I can understand a kid not wanting to leave his highschool between his junior/senior years.
Exactly.
To me it seemed more like ‘I’m living at my buddies house my senior year! Wooo!”
Didn’t some guys on the baseball team come back just to win a title? Canham or Barney – maybe a couple of the pitchers…

Butte is past its sell by date, sadly, but the Civic Center can still put on a great tournament.
“past its sell by date”, lol, I’ve got to use that line today.
BASEBALL: Important game in an important series tonight at 6:30, on OSU Stream. A chance to break into the top 25 (not that that matters at this stage of the season).
GO ANDREW and bats!
I thought it was at 6:00?
I don’t care about rankings. I just want payback for last year’s series.
6:30 Friday
6:00 Saturday
1:00 Sunday
I hope ASU wears their crappy pseudo-80’s-astros unis.

They’re saying he might walk on here at OSU? I’m not too familiar with how Pat Strickland was at OSU, but it would be interesting if he was thrown into the fray. Seems like a kid that might benefit more from a Juco stint then transferring here or redshirting or something.
FYI, for those of you who might be thinking about taking in practice on Saturday…

Sat’s practice may be in Truax due to weather — prohibits us from opening to the public. We will update in the morning. Thank you. #gobeavs
