For those of you who want to comment on the game, here is an area for you to do so.

I canceled my cable, so I'll be in my apartment complex's weight room (where they have a TV that gets FSN) pretending to be working out. It's quite the caper, but hey, I basically have a part-time job right now so this is what it's come to.

After the game, I am going to lower this post and raise the one below it regarding baseball. But, since this game airs first and some people still care about basketball, I have to give them their space.

I have no feel or insight on this game. Gun to my head, I'd say Beavs take this game because they will want to avenge the embarrassment in Corvallis, but the Ducks are playing more solid ball right now. The Beavs cannot beat anyone on the road, never mind a team we all (incorrectly) think they "should" beat, but after reading all the negative press this past week they might come out with an vengeance. An almost impossible game to predict.

When: 1pm

TV: FSN

Radio: KPAM

  1. I’ve never seen a coach who never learns from mistakes like Craig. He’s just horrible. Some people may have liked him before, I’m not sure why. He’s just awful. I’d be okay with it if Joe Burton and him left together.

  2. Our perimeter defense is killing us. I doubt OSU has the money for a new head coach but what about forcing Robinson to shuffle his staff up a little and bring in a lead assistant that knows a thing or two about winning on the Pac-10 level. Also can we please stop calling Rob a better recruiter than Riley.

    • He is a better recruiter. His one true dud has been Burton. You could throw Brandt in there too I suppose. Cunningham, Starks and Nelson have talent. The last 2 have shown flashes. I must say i would like to see more Chris Brown. Eric Moreland is missed a little bit. He would take some of Burton’s minutes. I think he can get talent, just can’t develop it.

I say OSU finds the money. Whatever it takes. I have a feeling that last year may have been the best they’ll finish in conference play. We can say “oh they’re young, they’ll be a much better team next season” truthfully does anyone believe that? This program is going nowhere. I might be saying that out of frustration right now, it’s hard to say it’s going anywhere positive though.

  3. I can no longer tell what’s systemic and institutional and what’s CR. CR is not missing 1ft layups, and CR took brown to a 19-10 record and second place Ivy League finish. Brown! Would Altman win with CR’s group? It’s become too confusing for me. I have no idea where one problem ends and another begins.

    • It is just a massive cluster F. Robinson uses a gimmicky system that threw a mediocore P-10 off-guard for about a season and a half and he also has players that can’t shoot lay-ups or utilize basic fundamentals for whatever reasons. In the end though, you have to hold the head coach accountable. Next year will be his last if he can’t get the team above .500 and a NIT berth. Come on, even Jay John got lucky one year and achieved that!

  4. I wonder if the SI dude is watching today’s game. If he is he might be bald by now after tearing out all of his hair.

More good PR for the Beavs.

    • Unless they mount a comeback, Dohrmann will look like a prophet. Did everyone catch his comment about Roberto being “unhappy”. Be interesting to see if the transfers start happening in the off-season. I doubt the two foreign players coming in are going to be saviours of the program.

      • I am somewhat hopeful. Euoros tend to play a much more team oriented game. With Nelson and the new Euro guard we might actually see some passing next year and if this team starts passing it will make everyone a little better.

  5. It amazes me Craig refuses to play man-to-man. They have better athletes and would cause the Ducks problems. Zone defense gets killed by a team that moves the ball decently. Craig apparently hasn’t yet figured that out.

  6. I don’t get why we don’t run our offense through Nelson more. He is one of the few guys on the team that actually sees the court. Cunnigham is good at what he does but kind of one dimensional. A guy with as high of a usage as Cunningham should be getting way more assists.

    • Yeah, the rest of the league as figured out Cunningham. Just converge on him and take your chances on fouling him because he has no court sense and is not going to dish off. I guess the one thing in his defense, he has become a better foul shooter.

      • I think he could be a solid off the ball player or a guy to go to when nothing else is working but as far as an initiator of offense I think Nelson sees the floor way better and Starks is a little better too.

  7. Also Dean looks decent. I don’t get how Burton and Brandt “beat him out for playing time. I mean the young guards are clearyl better than the seniors yet the seniors play a lot. It is like if you are a guard seniority matters but if you are a big it doesn’t? It makes no sense.

      • I am not saying he is good. But I don’t see how he can’t be in the mix and getting more of a chance with the way Brandt has played all season and the way Burton has played for the majority of the season.

    • With how poor Omari, Brandt and Burton have played, I don’t get how Deane did not deserve minutes. I don’t care how “dumb” he is. He hustles on every posession and plays hard. He even came off of his man to block a shot today. Kind of two late now.

  8. Eric Moreland seems to be the only Beaver player apologizing to the fans for the team’s performance each time. Really like that kid. He takes losses hard and that’s what the Beavers need. Wish he was out there playing.

  9. This is really a waste of my time posting anything regarding OSU Basketball, but what the hell!
I would say this season, OSU is team that is very predictable! Since this season began, we don’t have an established line-up, can’t pass, can’t shoot, can’t rebound, can’t defend, can’t play a full 40 minutes, can’t play a competitive game (besides UA & UW wins), can’t make simple high percentage shots, can’t establish any offense, can’t make lay-ups, and simply can’t win. Losing 82-63 to your rival is unacceptable and not competitive. We have a horrible coaching staff! We have a horrible team. Why didn’t they start out the season with 5:30 AM practices? Why don’t they bench the players who don’t score (Brandt)? Why haven’t Deane, or Brown played more this season? I think it would help my sanity to stop caring about OSU basketball. At least until they start giving Beaver Nation something to cheer about! At least make the NIT, win 20 games, etc. I’m done with OSU basketball, the season is over! Now on to Baseball!

  10. Feeling great about giving up on Calvin Haynes and this team a month ago. Didn’t waste a minute watching or caring about Beaver basketball, and had a thoroughly enjoyable Saturday. Looking forward in the coming weeks to OSU baseball, and to spring football practice. As for OSU basketball, see you next Fall.

    • Scott Rueck can flat out coach! The way his team plays is very remarkable! Even though the win vs loss column isn’t great, the Lady Beavs have been competitive this year! How many players did he have to work with when he first started? Didn’t all but three or four players leave the program? They don’t lose by 20 points frequently, unlike the men’s team. They play as a well coached team, and I’m looking forward to see how much his teams improve in the future!

      • Yeah it is great to see Rueck get some unexpected wins but don’t get too carried away. As coach Rob has shown it is one thing to win a few more games then expected as a cellar dweller it is something different to take it to the next level and get into the upper half of the Pac-10.
