Another week, another blocked kick returned for a game-winning TD. This time, it’s Georgia Tech blocking a Florida State field goal and taking it to the house. What a time to be alive!!
It feels like the defense has regressed as the year has gone on. Is it the improvement in competition, or are we just getting worse tackling and in coverage?
The tackling has always been a problem through the years. It’s probably a mixture of recruiting 2 and 3 star kids who don’t have the intelligence to make up for their lack of athleticism. I’m pretty sick of this shit and I thought it would change with a new staff. It seems worse.
Colorado with the TO. They have to discuss WTF IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW.
Mitchell and Collins in the backfield at the same time is nuts, but I love it. Let Mitchell throw, and Collins run. Or Mitchell handoff to Collins, who throws it back to Mitchell on the 3. Whatever lol
Line didn’t generate any gaps, and Nall ran unto a defender. Not great. Bummer that it didn’t work, I really wish we’d go for it more often on 4th-and-2 and shorter.
Poor blocking up front. I like the call of going for it. I would’ve done the same giving it to Nall. Maybe a qb sneak is the safer call though with a shitty O line
Where is Hunt? He was our big recruit two years ago, and I’ve heard his name like twice in two years. Seems like this would be the perfect time to take this starting spot and show the talent we thought he had.
#12 fucking sucks. Basically every time I see a big completion, it’s against him. Kendall Hill, Junior. Majoring in “Sucking at coverage and tackling” I think.
oh christ, come on. 5 minutes until halftime in a tie game and some of you are admitting defeat already? Hey, with 5 minutes until halftime they’re still in it. Last 2 weeks they weren’t
Nah, definitely didn’t move outside the pocket on that one. Got good protection, just nothing opened up, and he made a bone headed decision. It happens, and as long as it doesn’t become the routine, we’ll live with it. Just glad to see a QB in there who doesn’t have the first instinct to take off and run.
true but so far Mitchell looks like the best passer of the 3. But he’s no real threat to run so that removes the read option. At this point I like the platooning of 2 QB’s.
Doesn’t it seem there is something not quite right in the relationship between Storm Woods and GA? They can say whatever they want, but something is off there. Has he been on the field for even 5 plays so far?
i agree he is always looking for a reason to go down.
I mentioned last year that the offense didn’t flow right with Woods in there, and people got all over me. Woods went on to have a great season statistically, especially ypc, but something still seemed off.
Mitchell is showing a calmness and nice arm, but I am trying to keep in mind it is against Colorado. There are some plays where they are getting absolutely no pressure on NM.
WIlson is huge (6-7 233) which helps him running. Mitchell is pretty small (6-3 198) and not fast or agile. Can scramble for a few yards if it’s open but won’t get more than that.
They showed him briefly. He was talking to another player, his jaw very wide open while talking like he was upset, and the other player looked to be calming him down/reassuring him. It was only like 5 seconds.
You know, historically, sports were originally promoted in the early 20th century as a function to create a more battle ready public of young men. That militaristic coaching mindset and talk, especially in contact sports like football, still exists today as a carryover from modern sports early roots. You probably don’t like to think of that fact, but an in shape youth is a military asset.
To be fair, what does he have to work with? Boldin is just dogshit but Baldwin wants him to be a star. Jarmon barely plays, instead we’re playing Guyton. Who is an idiot and has mediocre hands at best. But he’s tall! Or something…
I think an example may be made this offseason and that example may be Brennan. Unless he has landed some major recruits, the wrs have been disappointing this year. Though, part of that is Boldin who has always been a 1 step forward, 2 step back guy.
Brennan is a great recruiter and highly regarded as a coach. You can’t blame him for Bolden being uncoordinated. He’s developed some good WR’s, including Villamin.
I know he is a great recruiter in general. Not aware of what he has done this year (typically follow from a distance until late Jan). Not so sure he is a great position coach. Other than Cooks, I haven’t seen a lot of development among the corps. I would like to keep him around but I do wonder I they look around for someone to cut and Brennan is the outsider among the coaches.
Jim Wilson’s comment re the Gyton pass (paraphrasing): Yes the pass was behind him but it was catchable he has to learn to go down and catch the pass. Not all passes are the catch and run variety.
Mitchell looks like the guy. He’s made some beautiful deep throws and he seems able to hit the short passes too. He’s quicker than I thought too. He could be our Seth Russell.
Woods brings some stability and I’d like to see him out there for 75% of the snaps maybe use Brown as a 3rd down back and Nall for goal line.
I liked GAs half time response that the WRs aren’t helping Mitchell. Thankfully we have great coaching at the position so it’ll prove next year.
I would like to see Nall as an every down back. He is starting to look good. Has good power and speed. He certainly has things to work on but man he is starting to show his potential.
I wouldn’t mind that. But brown looks like he has some potential. Woods can make a cut and I don’t think we have the line for a straight line guy like Nall.
OSU CB Treston Decoud, taken by ambulance from Reser, is moving all extremities. Under observation at Good Samaritan Hospital— kerry eggers (@kerryeggers) October 25, 2015
So Ortiz, instead of drilling the ab with a full head of steam, he stops in front waves his hands in the qb face, stops, watches the qb run slowly past him m, then has to turn around and chase up field. Why can’t our guys just tackle?
To be fair, Pritchard started the sack, moving so slowly he couldn’t possible run past Sefo. CNL finished it when our DT was unable to bring the QB to the ground.
Angry I’m having issues posting. Sometimes a “stop spammers” page comes up wanting me to enter my email address and type in a captcha but no captcha appears
Probably because you have ghostery or something installed. Either way, I got the request and fixed it. I think this has to do with people posting on mobile devices where the IP changes, and the spam views that as a proxy
That was really bad, if they wanted to go to Mitchelle, needed to run a dual ab package there to keep D honest. I saw that rush coming as StHC was heading to sideline.
Despite the fact Harlow sometimes sucks I feel bad for him. Dude looked like he was trying not to cry knowing he suffered a serious season ending injury.
So…..have we completely abandoned the up-tempo offense? Don’t have to be Baylor/Oregon hyperspeed, but it seems like we’ve almost completely stopped even trying to hurry things on occasion.
10-10 headed to the 4th. Anyone’s game right now. Eyeball test shows these are easily the two worst teams in the conference. At least they’re still in it and have a shot at victory. All we can ask for
In a game like this against an equal opponent, the defense is in the right place a lot of the time, but the first tackler to the ball is just atrocious, play after play.and what puzzles me is that it’s different guys.
A ton of guys in the box, but easy TD on the QB run. We don’t seem to match up to overloaded offensive lines; we have too many players weakside and continually get torched.
Fucking sad. Our defense is just so, so bad. So many missed tackles, bad coverage, nobody can get off blocks. No turnovers created. How has it come to this, our defenses used to be fearsome.
D is porous, but I feel the Beavs had momentum going into the half, and lost that on that first drive when Collins came out as the starter and then Owens missed the FG. Momentum changed, Collins then came out again, and momentum got even worse when NM got sacked on the 3rd and 7. The missed FG and 3rd and 7 sack were huge momentum changes. Game felt even until those.
#12 dropping the easy INT. it’s like they aren’t ready to make a play and have a mentality of ‘next time’. This team is pathetic and the coaches aren’t helping.
The read option does not work with Mitchell in there. I’m not saying to play Collins solely for that reason. But you take away the element of the QB taking off and running it.
Mitchell just needs to show he can run it to keep the defense honest on it. He’s not a statue like Mannion/Canfield, so he can run the read option adequately. Wouldn’t still be on the roster if he couldn’t
A holding call where they throw out the #98 that doesn’t exist and then the DB was playing patty cake with Guyton and they get Guyton at the very end? The numbnut announcers made it sound like Guyton was clearly at fault.
We went through this same thing last year with Villamin. Everyone said he sucked, I said to give him a shot b/c he’s a huge target. Now he’s very good.
So if there something in play here that for the good of the league that it’s time for CU to end their losing streak? How could that not be called PI, it wasn’t even difficult to see.
Mitchell is a RS Freshman who doesn’t get reps with the first team, at all. Imagine him actually having spring practice, and weekly practices, with the other starters. Because Collins has had all of those things since day 1 and can’t throw to save his life.
I know, I know, I know, football is more complicated but Robinson took total shit and won a minor tournament his first season. Tinker took what Robinson left and had a winning season his first season. Just sayin.
Those throws on slants behind the WR? That’s a timing issue from NOT GETTING REPS IN PRACTICE. Those will go away when he gets more chances to throw with the starters and gets their timing down.
All-in on Mitchell and Nall, great work by those two.
I would have actually used Collins in this situation because without the threat of a run the CU defense was able to just tee off on Mitchell and he was just too inexperienced to adjust. Also, does this offense have a TE anymore?
Bolden was open as shit on that last play.. Lead him and hope he catches it. If he catches it it’s a sure first down.. Mitchell hits some of the intermediate throws better than Collins but he still doesn’t throw an accurate ball… We could be witnessing the worst QB situation in the history of college football.
You are out of control right now. NM doesn’t get to practice with the 1st team, and timing is EVERYTHING on those passes. AKA building chemistry with your WRs. Which happens through reps. Which all went to Collins, who can’t throw.
Give Mitchell 6+ weeks to practice with the first team, he makes those throws. And Collins isn’t making them anyway.
I don’t think so. BUT I’ll be super glad to be wrong on this one. A few of those balls he threw out of bounds were really bad not a fault of reps. You have to keep the ball in bounds to let your dude make a play on the ball…
This is just a year where all the qb’s on the roster are inexperienced/ suck unfortunately.
Yes, we could be witnessing the worst QB situation….. . But, it is about using your best option even if it is just less inept than the other guy(s).
Nobody is claiming that NM is now a top flight QB, just that he brings more to the position than pollo loco, who could be a good RB and maybe WR.
Why didn’t they go to the first series stuff? I mean they moved the ball. Mix in Nall, seems simple enough. Baldwin is inept, or blind, can’t figure it out.
maybe because they didn’t have any timeouts left??? If you think Colorado was going to fall for that pass from Collins to Mitchell a 2nd time I have a bridge that fully goes over the grand canyon you may be interested in
Through the whole game, not just the last series. Baldwin finds something that works, then abandons it the next series, no attempt to reproduce past success. Or maybe they try it once.
As I mentioned, you guys were the next rung up the ladder for us on our way back. We owned this game before it started. Your fans don’t bring a whole lot to the game atmosphere either.
We know what it’s like to see a better team coming into your house to stomp your team. Trust me.
I’ve watched a few times over these last few years where my team didn’t match up physically and my coaches were clearly out coached. So I know how you guys likely feel having those realities hit you today.
Just glad we can now be seen as a team in the “next tier up” from the bottom. I noticed you have at least 2 wins already, but can’t remember who you beat? Northern Arizona??
LMFAO! See my post to you below dipshit. Next tier my ass. Again, congrats on eeking out a 4 point win over the youngest and worst team in the Pac-12. Colorado = bottom feeder. Maybe they should consider going back to the Big-12?
If that last int is used as a reason to keep NM out of the lineup then there is no f’in justice.
Shame that NM hasn’t had nearly the attention in practice that StHC^2 has had; OneEyedKing nailed it at 10:55 and 10:58 above!
Yes, all the QB’s are terrible. But, for the most recent 6-8 weeks NM hasn’t had anywhere near the reps that Collins has had.
Agree, none of these three will be #1 next season.
If you’d like to puff your chest out for eeking out a 17-13 win over the youngest and worst team in the Pac-12, you go right ahead. Your team and coach are fucking awesome. Douchebags always douche
For all of you saying Baldwin and Sitake are killing us, may I please remind you of the 52 freshman on the roster??? Most of who were recruited by????? Get real.
WSN: Those 52 freshmen aren’t calling the plays and imo the play calling was not up to the level that it needs to be in order to be successful in the Pac-12.
but some of those 52 freshman aren’t executing on said plays. This is not rocket surgery here. I could cite specific examples sitting down watching a game with you. The 4th down fail on the final drive had someone open over the middle. Instead Mitchell makes a poor throw to someone else. Face the facts. This is a young, inexperienced team. You show me a team that has been successful with 52 freshman on the roster and I’ll take a hot load right in the eye from Ron Jeremy in front of everyone.
This is a team that won 5 games last year and 6 the year before. We lost a ton of the starters and are using completely new systems. It’s really not that crazy that we’re this bad. I don’t blame Sitake, I think he’s at least adequate. Baldwin I’m still giving the benefit of the doubt, but he’ll have more to prove to me next year.
One last though my friend and I hate using the word identity. But offensively, right now the Beavs have none. Some shit has worked at times, others not. I’m just as frustrated as you and I am sure this coaching staff is as well. The only thing I do think right now? Ryan Nall needs to be numero uno at RB and Mitchell is a better passer than Collins but worse at the read option. Woods and Brown can ride the pine imo
@WSN: Can’t argue with what you’re saying my friend. But that doesn’t mean I’m a fan of DB’s play calling and possibly his use of personnel. GA might want a certain kind of offense but if the skills of the existing players doesn’t match up then the coaching staff has to go with what works. That’s assuming there’s enough talent on the team for anything to work which might be a bad assumption.
I’m not impressed with the talent on the team, especially the OL, DL, LBs, RBs WRs, and after tonight the DBs. Oh and also the OC.
Ugh. Here’s hoping the coaching staff gets after the JC kids cuz lots of help is needed.
you are 100% spot on on the lack of talent at many positions. There is SOME talent but most of it is young and inexperienced. Bad talent + lack of experience or lack of coach-ability = poop
The injuries have exposed the talent problem more.
As Jack and I discussed in a past thread, a lot of this comes down to QB play. With a good QB, this team would look much better. Nebraska fans are whining about talent, too. They have a lot. But they also have a QB who doesn’t run a pro system…it’s always about the QB, which is why I spent so much time harping on that issue for the past year. At this point, we have to assume Garretson next year and they bring in a prep this cycle. They should recruit several QBs, imo, not just Moran.
Does the “Move the chains” Chant come back next home game Seems appropriate for how we play. If you don’t know what I’m talking about you never watched a game in Parker Stadium.
OK, so the D didn’t really look like shit tonight; and this is coming from a guy who was believing the Beavs D would keep them in nearly every game this season.
Peko had a good night but there were way too many tackling failures and the DB’s were carved up pretty regularly. And, only ONE sack?
Those three 3 and outs near the end were, hopefully, a sign of things to come.
Radio says Decoud will be OK. As good of news as there could be this soon.
Scotty swear time:
Riley fucked us by mailing it in for years, choosing handouts to his good old boys club over duty to his employer, and dropping the recruiting ball. The shit’s hitting the fan, but let’s not forget who took the dump. I hope Baldwin and crew aren’t smearing poop on the walls.
Jim Wilson channeling his inner angry; pretty close to calling for StHC to be used as an RB along with Nall. Counts the rest of the RG’s out, some due to injury.
However, Andersen saying he will be going with 2 QB’s.
Go Beavs!!! I’ve actually found a stream that’s working for me. Holy crap I might get to see them play.
The stream is damn good tonight (fingers crossed). The Ukranians are on their game!
Go Beavs
Another week, another blocked kick returned for a game-winning TD. This time, it’s Georgia Tech blocking a Florida State field goal and taking it to the house. What a time to be alive!!
Do the P-12 commentators read AB? They are talking about Garrettson being the possible QB of the future.
Whiskey Naps = Yogi
Dear OSU defense,
Can you please get them off the field on their opening drive? Thanks
Signed,
Everyone besides Colorado All F’ing Day. But no one gives a shit about that fucktard
Not sure if arms tackles and bad angles will do it.
held them to 3. That’s an improvement. Time for the offense to do something to counter and let the defense get a breather
Very nice tackle by #32.
Is Sitake’s defensive strategy to slap the ball carrier until he hopefully falls down? Saw about 4 or 5 slap arm tackles on one run.
Only brought 4, Colorado picks up 20.
Come on. This shit again already?
#35 seriously just charged and laid his shoulder into the RB. No attempt to tackle at all.
Saw that. Awful
Rushed 3, but it works out with the short field. Tackle the running QB on about the 5.
Colorado seems pretty bad. But are they worse than us? They also seem really, really slow.
That was bad D, but they did play well on that last series to hold to a FG.
also no call on the Spruce block in the back on the pass to the RB. Even the announcers mentioned it.
The atmosphere is terrible. Can’t be impressive to the recruits.
I like the idea of Brown returning kicks.
I like the idea of Paul Lucas returning kicks.
“SPEED KILLS” P. Lucas
See it on Utube, Let’s Go with it Bev”s !!!!
Holy shit what is this?
Mitchell handing off to Collins? Then Collins in as a wildcat basically. Finally the two QB system we heard about!
Preview of next year with Garrettson?
What the fuck is this? Mitchell starting at QB and Collins is…also in?
Holy shit balls! A Paul Lucas sighting!
HSB A Will Hopkins sighting! Hope JB didn’t notice.
Yeeeeees!!! Lets go baby give P. Lucas the rock and watch him runnnnn. Just needs a lil space and opportunity its a proven fact. Go Bevs!
Thanks did it just so angry would watch
Damien Haskins gets the first RB carry. So 5 RBs have played.
Nice completion and catch by Boldin. Sad I have to congratulate Boldin for making an open catch, but still.
It looks like we got the good Collins tonight, as expected.
Never been a fan of the idea of 2 QBs on the field at the same time, but wow, points for creativity.
Nice drive made possible by trickery. Predicting the creative play calling disappears next possession.
Angry’s 2 QB formation makes an appearance at picks up a first down!
I love this, it’s such awesome nonsense.
Short yardage goal line.
Feed the fuckin Beast.
Yup. They did
Looks like Collins is going to take out his qb competition with his passes tonight.
Clear TD
P-12 officials without enough balls to over-rule the call.
Why give the ball to Storm once, then immediately pull him for Nall?
What are the substitutions?
I thought Nall should have carried it on the first play.
Hot shit that was a nice opening drive. We’ll take it!
Looked like Fred L. could have opened things up better for Storm(y).
Nall sighting. My doctor is on alert.
Check the Nall balls, doc.
Trick plays will only get you so far. They’re going to have to do more than that in order to get the W.
The D got some rest early in a game for once. Let’s see how that parlays.
True, after a 7 minute drive by CU to open.
And they look much better than when it’s a 3 and out. No surprise!
Why not just run Nall on first down?
Solid tackle by #37.
Love the waggle passes on that first drive ! Been asking for that maybe a crowton influence ??
Whatever the case I like it. Get Seth on the move and out of the pocket with receivers running across his face. Makes the reads so much easier.
The recruits have to like that opening play calling. Maybe that makes up for the terrible crowd/atmosphere.
Colorado is out-OSUing us. Penalties and bad, slow offense galore.
Who is this color commentator?
“Back when I was at USC, the mansions they gave us were much nicer than the Valley Hotel we stayed at here. It made us sleepy.”
WTF is that?
And why couldn’t the usc wussies stay in Albany?
Been to Albany? Place is a meth and heroin infested shit hole
The pass just has to be put on the body, yet Collins sails it two feet high. Just kills them.
Colorado self destructing with penalties so far. If the beavs can be the more disciplined team they will be in this thing. Captain obvious here
Collins misses an easy one.
hospital pass.
Collins missing that wide open slant…that has to be a completion at this level. Guyton had so much separation. He might have gone for 20.
Maybe we’ll see Mitchell throw a few.
Oh god that fucking squib that Collins just threw. He seriously does not know how to fucking throw.
I like that “uncatchable ball” stat they do now. It shows how bad of a passer Collins really is.
Line didn’t generate any gaps, and Nall ran unto a defender. Not great. Bummer that it didn’t work, I really wish we’d go for it more often on 4th-and-2 and shorter.
I hated that series. Collins run on 3rd and 5… more headless chicken/looking to run first.
I’d almost always go for it in that field position. Barely too long for a FG, and a punt likely to yield marginal improvement in field position.
Agree didn’t realize they were that close, comment edited.
There’s our lack of being able to pound the rock rearing its head.
Poor blocking up front. I like the call of going for it. I would’ve done the same giving it to Nall. Maybe a qb sneak is the safer call though with a shitty O line
Ditto. Shitty O-Line
Maybe, but Colorado had 10 guys in the box between the ends and two yards deep.
I always like the sneak on 4th and short. Taking the ball back from the line of scrimmage in that situation is counter productive.
I don’t get why in college they just don’t QB sneak it when it’s inches?
No kidding. And when Nall is in, he gets it 4 out of 5 times.
6 foot(maybe) QBs aren’t effective at QB sneaks. Bigger QBs are.
Ken S is a class act. Good to have him involved.
Damn, DeCoud out on a stretcher.
No Larry Scott, now DeCoud is carted away in an ambulance. Luck o da Beavs. Hope DeCoud is ok
Where is Hunt? He was our big recruit two years ago, and I’ve heard his name like twice in two years. Seems like this would be the perfect time to take this starting spot and show the talent we thought he had.
Medical retirement over the summer.
Hunt retired.
Beavs look scared to tackle now.
He medically retired.
http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2015/04/dashon_hunt_oregon_state_beave_1.html
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!
3 fucking beavers in the area, and they can’t stop the RB. First down, jesus.
I’ve heard of touchdown Jesus, but not first down Jesus.
Defense is fucking falling apart. Missing tackles, diving at feet. Just fucking garbage.
Seeing your buddy break his neck probably takes your head out of the game a bit.
Yep. They look terrified to tackle now.
And they better get that ambulance back with Collins throwing.
No idea who #43 is, but nice tackle!
Adam Soesman
#12 fucking sucks. Basically every time I see a big completion, it’s against him. Kendall Hill, Junior. Majoring in “Sucking at coverage and tackling” I think.
Looks like the Beavs will end another opponent’s futility streak.
oh christ, come on. 5 minutes until halftime in a tie game and some of you are admitting defeat already? Hey, with 5 minutes until halftime they’re still in it. Last 2 weeks they weren’t
Hill is another project 5.3 2 star project.
I can’t believe how bad Noland Lewis is. Get him the eff off the field!
Feel bad for your hurt player, but y’all team goin’ down 2nite!
St Sefo to Spruce
St Sefo to Spruce
Pound it with physical overpowering run play
Wash
Rinse
Repeat
WAS THAT A SPIRAL???
Thank god a real QB is in. And he’s a redshirt freshman, that’s sweet.
Wow!
Mitchell 3 great throws so far.
PERFECT THROW!!! Wow. Mitchell is awesome.
Grounding penalty brutal though.
Looked like he was outside the tackle box…
Nah he was in it.
Nice throw NM.
Mitchell looked like he was outside the tackle box on that “Intentional Grounding” call.
He was in it.
Yeah. Ball was snapped on the left hash, and he threw from the left hash.
Owens is the best looking kicker since Serna.
Looking like a gamer.
Josh Mitchell is probably going to play to his max with his brother in there. It’s a nice boost to two positions.
I don’t want to get too excited over Mitchell yet, just a few passes and CO isn’t very good
true but so far Mitchell looks like the best passer of the 3. But he’s no real threat to run so that removes the read option. At this point I like the platooning of 2 QB’s.
Mitchell can run a little. Not like Collins, but it’s not like he is Mannion or Canfield.
I’d be fine with how they used Collins the first drive or rotating. But they need this passing threat (if Mitchell can keep passing like this)
yes but not enough to continue as a threat to take it to the house in the read option. It’s a conundrum for coach Baldwin indeed
Doesn’t it seem there is something not quite right in the relationship between Storm Woods and GA? They can say whatever they want, but something is off there. Has he been on the field for even 5 plays so far?
he goes down too easily. lack of toughness imo
i agree he is always looking for a reason to go down.
I mentioned last year that the offense didn’t flow right with Woods in there, and people got all over me. Woods went on to have a great season statistically, especially ypc, but something still seemed off.
I thought I heard he didn’t practice this week. Concussion like symptoms
Terron Ward was still the better of the two. I always thought that
Is it SW and GA or is it SW and DB?
I can’t comment on GA and Stormy’s relationship, but it has been interesting how he hasn’t gotten touches.
I hate the coaching staff wearing the same costume. This is a game of men. Please.
Sorry 2 thumbs down. They look goofy.
Fucking Harlow. 1-2 times per game, picks up a MONSTER penalty. Fucking idiot.
Next Remmers
Mitchell looking solid
Needs to cut out with the jump passes.
Mitchell showed some agility there, but got smashed on that sack.
Not a good throw. Bummer.
Not such a good throw there. Big miss.
low, behind and wobbly…
That’s what she said.
All 3 QBs are freshmen…inconsistency is going to come with the territory.
Mitchell is showing a calmness and nice arm, but I am trying to keep in mind it is against Colorado. There are some plays where they are getting absolutely no pressure on NM.
I’m halfway into a Black Butte XXVI, so they better effin win.
Colorado’s best player is their punter.
I LOVE that Mitchell has been playing series after series though. Please give up on Collins.
We need this win to keep him in, though.
I guess there’s the answer, Woods did not practice.
I want to stroke my fingers through Moevao’s beard.
FUCK YOU BOLDIN!!!!
Goddammit!!!
OMB BOLDEN
Another nice pass. No push off was needed.
Guyton with the love-tap PI. Lame…
I think that was actually a weak PI call.
Receivers did no favors on that drive. :P
Anderson agreed.
So none of our eligible QB’s can throw a spiral?
Super impressed with Mitchell so far. 2 bad throws, and several awesome ones. Our offense looks legit! Kinda…
Mitchell is savvy back there.
Can he run enough to be a Travis Wilson type?
Seth Collins looks like he’s freaking out on the sidelines.
WIlson is huge (6-7 233) which helps him running. Mitchell is pretty small (6-3 198) and not fast or agile. Can scramble for a few yards if it’s open but won’t get more than that.
Did they ever show him? I figured he was throwing a tantrum and the P12N crew had the decency not to show him.
I do wish they’d continue to use him on offense. We can’t afford not to use all of our weapons on offense.
I didn’t see him either. But, yes, keep him in on O….. as a RB.
They showed him briefly. He was talking to another player, his jaw very wide open while talking like he was upset, and the other player looked to be calming him down/reassuring him. It was only like 5 seconds.
I’m really curious how he’ll react if he straight-up loses the job to Mitchell tonight. I hope he transfers. Just go. You aren’t a D1 QB.
Now, the Beavs have a QB who can get them the ball and in their shock, they keep fucking up.
Anderson with the burn on the WR corps…
Hey interviewer, these 18-21 year olds are not troops. They’re students playing a game. Just fucking stop with the military-sports analogies.
On the plus side, love Anderson with the slight shot at his receivers, saying “Nick was making plays, I wish his receivers helped him out a bit more.”
Wake me up when your outdated lecture is over.
Ok, summary, these 18-21 year olds are good pieces of gear.
Receivers have two fucking retarded plays in a row and dropped passes..what the fuck is coach Brennan doing?
To be fair, what does he have to work with? Boldin is just dogshit but Baldwin wants him to be a star. Jarmon barely plays, instead we’re playing Guyton. Who is an idiot and has mediocre hands at best. But he’s tall! Or something…
Guyton strikes me as a guy who doesn’t have a lot going on upstairs. I wouldn’t blame the PI on Brennan. And we all know Bolden can’t catch.
Gotta agree on the IQ level Guyton. Physically he looks like he could dominate…
Gawd, Bolden frustrates the hell out of me.
Obviously he’s teaching them to not catch the ball.
Being complimented by the “brilliant” TV guy! lol
Villamin has made a lot of progress, too.
I thought they said on radio that SC had an ice pack on his leg. Maybe I heard that wrong.
Looks like Bolden can’t tell the difference between SC and NM he drops them both their balls.
Only difference is SC can run NM can stay in the pocket.
No. SC is hot, humid and sweaty, NM is box shaped, dry, and poor.
Jim Wilson’s comment re the Gyton pass (paraphrasing): Yes the pass was behind him but it was catchable he has to learn to go down and catch the pass. Not all passes are the catch and run variety.
Made sense to me.
On TV, it looked pretty uncatchable from multiple angles.
Hit him right in the hand.
Collins should be a WR.
It looks like the best team in the state is going to go 6-1, 3 point led against Cal Poly with the ball and 30 seconds left.
Linfield is playing Cal Poly?
Viks would crush Linfield, silly!
Glad to hear. Hope he makes a full recovery
Good news on Decoud via Gina’s tweet, he’s moving all extremities.
Anybody hear anything on DeCoud?
Very cool about DeCoud that was scary
Penalties nearly even in first half, seemed like CU was the one shooting themselves in the foot, but 50yds vs 49 for Beavs.
Thanks harlow.
Liufau rocking the Joey Harrington haircut.
Nall with great vision to cut outside on that one.
Playing Collins feels like wasting our opening possession. What are they doing here?
Villamin wide the hell open and catches the ball. Yay.
On the other hand, Collins starting fucking sucks. Baldwin is all-in on his boy.
GA has to play Collins so he doesn’t poison the recruiting well.
Announcers saying what I’m thinking; why are we starting StCH in the 2nd half?
Thanks DB. Thanks a fucking lot.
It takes a special talent to turn a perfect pocket into a sack.
Seth Collins is that guy.
Classic shitty Collins. His first option isn’t open, gets happy feet, and…sack.
WE WANT MITCHELL!
StHC^2
And angry puts the wammy on Owens.
Get Mitchell in next series! His head has value just like Jonathan Smith.
Yikes, Owens…
Owens with a kick so bad the announcers thought it was blocked.
Was that a coverage sack or a eff up by Collins.
Angry jinxed our kicker!
First drive in a nutshell:
Ryan Nall 3 yard carries.
Wide open Villamin for like 25 yards.
Collins run for nothing.
Collins run for like 4.
Collins happy feet sack.
Missed FG.
Fuck Collins.
Mitchell doesn’t have the happy feet, which I like.
12 misses the coverage tackle. Idiot.
A pair of 6-man blitzes, neither of which generate sacks. Bleh.
#35 isn’t very good at making tackles.
17, 12, and a bunch of other numbers…
These LBs are so slow. What happened to ricky liuchan? he was a very good looking prospect.
Offsetting penalties bailout. That was some dogshit coverage.
Terrible coverage by 38. How does their best receiver get that kind of separation?
Probably a reason he’s #4 at best on the depth chart.
Even when we get guys in the backfield, they look totally incapable of tackling the QB.
Why are we unable to finish sacks? Is it just us, or this more widespread? We’ve had good pressure several times but couldn’t get the sack.
It’s just inexperienced guys taking terrible angles.
So Ortiz, instead of drilling the ab with a full head of steam, he stops in front waves his hands in the qb face, stops, watches the qb run slowly past him m, then has to turn around and chase up field. Why can’t our guys just tackle?
Hope Ortiz gets a better trial than McM did.
We bitch, and they finally finish a sack…WE ARE POWERFUL!!!
To be fair, Pritchard started the sack, moving so slowly he couldn’t possible run past Sefo. CNL finished it when our DT was unable to bring the QB to the ground.
I’m going to be furious if Collins comes back out without Mitchell. Do we want to win?
I’m going with Mitchell in.
Tested
Shank
These two teams are evenly matched. The good news is GA is in his first year, what’s MacIntyre’s excuse?
Hippies, legal weed, and thin air?
Angry I’m having issues posting. Sometimes a “stop spammers” page comes up wanting me to enter my email address and type in a captcha but no captcha appears
Probably because you have ghostery or something installed. Either way, I got the request and fixed it. I think this has to do with people posting on mobile devices where the IP changes, and the spam views that as a proxy
thanks. yes I post from both my craptop and smart phone
and yes I have ghostery installed on firefox
Nall looks better and better the more he runs. I’m glad he’s becoming the #1 back.
To be fair, Colorado looks awful. So that helps.
Collins is still in. This is so stupid.
He looks the best. Faster than he looks. 2nd effort is nice to see.
Can’t believe we still have Collins in there…
NALL! Good I like watching him run. (No homo)
I’m glad you put the “no homo” in there, because I was really starting to wonder.
If only this was womens beach vollyball.
That’s an ACL blow out for Harlow if I ever saw one.
Harlow is getting a boot and wheeled off the field. Harlow is not good, but that sucks.
Classic Collins, 2 fucking yards too far.
Great fucking play calling DB.
Are you saying douche bag or Dave Baldwin?
Poor nick no protection at all
As I said above, GA is playing Collins so as not to poison the recruiting well. Collins would whine to recruits. My .02
Nall missing the blitz pickup…
Dude , bro, how about blocking for your bro?
Put Mitchell in on 3rd and long and leave him to the wolves. Fantastic management there…
The put MM inside his own 5 yard line. This is nothing new.
That was really bad, if they wanted to go to Mitchelle, needed to run a dual ab package there to keep D honest. I saw that rush coming as StHC was heading to sideline.
SO FUCKING STUPID!
DONT BRING MITCHELL IN ON 3RD AND 7.
Jesus, just putting a guy in a position to fail. Fuck you. If Collins can’t be trusted on 3rd and 7, he can’t be fucking trusted to play period.
Whoever is making these personnel decisions is incredibly stupid.
Sorry, but that was a shitty and unfair situation to bring Mitchell in to and a crappy call I wonder about Baldwin sometimes.
momentum seems to swinging towards Colorado.
First post. U
Despite the fact Harlow sometimes sucks I feel bad for him. Dude looked like he was trying not to cry knowing he suffered a serious season ending injury.
For sure. Hopefully it’s just a sprain.
Come on defense, do something
I was wondering where Justin Strong was. Good tackle.
It seems like we’re going 2 deep continually, at all positions.
Except QB.
2 hand touch counts as a tackle before the sticks, right?
Who was that? Noland Lewis?
Shit our tackling sucks. Nice whiff.
So…..have we completely abandoned the up-tempo offense? Don’t have to be Baylor/Oregon hyperspeed, but it seems like we’ve almost completely stopped even trying to hurry things on occasion.
@ BlackBandits: Right now I’m of the mind that Dave Baldwin = douche bag. :-)
I was thinking they were interchangeable.
Have a diet coke
10-10 headed to the 4th. Anyone’s game right now. Eyeball test shows these are easily the two worst teams in the conference. At least they’re still in it and have a shot at victory. All we can ask for
So many missed tackles. At the beginning of the game I saw people closing ground and then wrapping up. I hope we get that going in the 4th
In a game like this against an equal opponent, the defense is in the right place a lot of the time, but the first tackler to the ball is just atrocious, play after play.and what puzzles me is that it’s different guys.
That’s a good observation.
They just seem to not like tackling. Some of it looks like technique, going to high, too
Fucking fuck fuck fuck
The defense takes the WORST angles to tackle. So many whiffs, it’s ridiculous.
God dammit.
That was so huge. And we missed it.
Willis doing his best Victor Bolden
Too funny. I was thinking the same thing.
That sure dropped interception was “Luck O’ The Beavs” in a nutshell.
OMG that was fucking embarassing. QB runs sideways for 10 yards.
Crabwise.
Good tackle but shitty coverage by Hill. Again.
Hill talking shit even though he was lucky… And then gets burned again.
Driving at will, can’t stop shit
Strong misses the tackle. God dammit. he used to be good. WTF happened?
Hanging out with Noland Lewis, Scott and Hill – rubbed off.
He used to be good. Damn, he had good technique a while back, not just luck but now??????
Playing from behind we have no chance with Collins… Let NM finish it out.
I’m saying NM comes in this series. 4 min TD drive.
I wanna see NM or dual QB.
That Loofa guy has been nothing special tonight. As for him being “your dude”, hey if your door swings that way
shit, replied to the wrong post. Sorry. Agree on dual QB at this point
Man, I didn’t think it could get this bad. We suck lol.
I hope we start with NM
D is porous, but I feel the Beavs had momentum going into the half, and lost that on that first drive when Collins came out as the starter and then Owens missed the FG. Momentum changed, Collins then came out again, and momentum got even worse when NM got sacked on the 3rd and 7. The missed FG and 3rd and 7 sack were huge momentum changes. Game felt even until those.
#12 dropping the easy INT. it’s like they aren’t ready to make a play and have a mentality of ‘next time’. This team is pathetic and the coaches aren’t helping.
SAAAAINT SEEEEEFFOOOOOOO
MY DUUUUDE!
EVERYONE’S FAVOURITE GUY!!!!
That Loofa guy has been nothing special tonight. As for him being “your dude”, hey if your door swings that way
Mitchell!
Wouldn’t still be on the roster if he couldn’t
but he hasn’t done that so far. So the defense just keys on the RB on the read option
That was a whip to guyton.
Mitchell fires a rocket over the middle, nice run after the catch. Big play.
Those simple passes like that are why you need to play Mitchell.
Also a big Guyton fan. Not sure what you guys are seeing.
I see it.
Quick pass an the slant. WTF.
YOU CAN’T TACKLE RYAN NALL!!! lol
I love it.
Yogi just compared Nall to Alstott. This Boilermaker just got aroused.
Nall made his case to be the featured back.
Fucking injuries. This is unbelievable.
Can we throw in the towel on Brown? Did you see him almost throw the ball away on his one freaking carry? He also just gets hurt like 3x per week.
GA needs to clean house on some of these players. Get some real gamers on the team
Brown will never start.
Nall over 100 yards.
I like Nalls “fuck yo arm tackle” runs, the guy is a beast.
Also, I hate the camera shots of the crowd. Kids today just don’t seem into the games. They look stupid and it makes Oregon state look Bush-league.
At least Collins was talking with Movea (sp?) on the sideline this time, at least appearing like he’s open to learning.
Brown, Storm, and Haskins are all out. That’s just crazy. We have 2 RBs left.
I think I found a job for Collins!
Not a great throw, but the LG completely whiffed his block and he was about to get SMASHED.
Fucking guyton can’t stop shoving people fuck
On 1st down didya see NM going downfield to block for Nall? Love it.
Onside kick?
Hard decision, if Beavs D was playing worth a shit I’d say there is too much time left for that.
they’ve allowed 17 points after allowing 42, 44 and 52 and they’re playing like shit? I understand it’s fucking Colorado but please
24 points over the last 6 quarters, too, right? That’s pretty good.
and 7 of those were the pick 6 against Wazzu
My youngest son’s football team has not scored in 11 quarters now, but they’ve actually won three games this season. It’s all relative!
Hey Angry…GUYTON SUCKS!
Nice fucking shove AND DROPS THE BALL. What a scrub.
Let me know what crow tastes like.
1 catch for 26 yards, 2 PI plays and another debatable drop. Doesn’t taste like crow.
You want to argue he could be good in 3 years when someone teaches him how to play? Sure, he has the frame to be a freak. But right now? He’s Boom 2.0
I’m not going to argue about this stuff anymore. I’m always right.
I don’t think he sucks… Just lacking upstairs. Yes, he’s young.
Great throw. Boneheaded play, again, by Guyton.
Ummm… who coaches Guyton?
Fuck you Guyton, you fucking stupid shit
A holding call where they throw out the #98 that doesn’t exist and then the DB was playing patty cake with Guyton and they get Guyton at the very end? The numbnut announcers made it sound like Guyton was clearly at fault.
We went through this same thing last year with Villamin. Everyone said he sucked, I said to give him a shot b/c he’s a huge target. Now he’s very good.
Guyton will be very good.
That’s fine, but football isn’t basketball, where game reps are irreplaceable. You can learn to play IN PRACTICE and not screw up games.
We got this ladies.
The mere threat of Mitchell being able to actually throw the ball will open up space for Nall to run.
Peko! Nice play to deflect the pass.
Great play calling Baldwin. NOT!!!
Nice!
Seth is NEVER making that pass
He makes like 1/3rd of them…lol
You can’t go run run run run run. Come on. Shitty play calling.
Win or lose Guyton, Mitchell and Nall are new starters.
How is the crow tasting?
A 10 yard slant completed? Yeah, what a stud…
If you think a few extremely basic completions make him a good player, you must love Bolden too; he occasionally catches something.
Keep talking. More funny quotes for the future.
How about you set up some criteria other than “See he made 2 catches out of 5!” to actually judge him by.
You kind of sound like a dick.
Guyton! Oh wait…
So if there something in play here that for the good of the league that it’s time for CU to end their losing streak? How could that not be called PI, it wasn’t even difficult to see.
What ass would neg this comment? Out yourself!
Sweet offense beavs lol
How about a TURN OVER????
Timeout? Wtf. Time is critical
Peko making some big plays. Finally someone does something!
Come on beavs.
That no PI call was brutal. Noah got mugged
How does any ref at any level miss that call? Geez.
I think we are done.
Baldwin is killing us
Shitty pass plays for sure. Also, did that ball bounce off Bolden’s chest?
That was pretty dumb to punt. Even if you get it back, there will be like 20 seconds left.
edit: or zero timeouts, equally difficult.
Am I the only one getting less and less impressed by Baldwin?
You are not.
No. I’m getting less and less enamored with the freshman being forced to play that were recruited by the previous regime
What happened to that “No pushing the RB from behind” rule? Just incredibly selectively enforced?
They’re also letting forward progress go forever.
I can’t remember seeing it called ever.
Shitty play calling by baldwin. Just awful.
Good job by the D finally getting a stuff. Now it’s…COLLINS TIME!!!
I feel dirty just typing those very sarcastic words.
I probably would have gone back to Seth for this drive.. Just sayin hope I’m wrong
I agree, just for the scramble and speed factor.
“there will be like 20 seconds left.there will be like 20 seconds leftk” Yep
See the edit seconds later, dumbo.
“there will be like 20 seconds left.there will be like 20 seconds left” Yep
FINALLY!!! PI!!!
Also, that slow-mo on the tipped pass shows Mitchell has a classic, but kinda slow, release. Dangerous.
Really slow release. Hope that Garretson is the answer. I still think NM is a better option than StCH.
We are now the last place team in the PAC 12.
Fucking Shit!
Classic… Interception on the last play. We really suck shit.
Our quarterback situation is so tough to stomach. Open receivers all over the field.
That was our last chance at a W fellas.
Civil war prep time?
Mitchell is a RS Freshman who doesn’t get reps with the first team, at all. Imagine him actually having spring practice, and weekly practices, with the other starters. Because Collins has had all of those things since day 1 and can’t throw to save his life.
Mitchell and Collins split first team reps for all of spring and fall camps….
He also got tons of first team reps this week.
http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2015/10/oregon_state_beavers_practice_68.html
http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2015/10/quarterbacks_seth_collins_nick.html
I stand corrected. He got to split reps for one week. Yay, no excuses!!!
I know, I know, I know, football is more complicated but Robinson took total shit and won a minor tournament his first season. Tinker took what Robinson left and had a winning season his first season. Just sayin.
Dammit!!!
Throw behind the WR, bobbled and picked. Bleh.
Those throws on slants behind the WR? That’s a timing issue from NOT GETTING REPS IN PRACTICE. Those will go away when he gets more chances to throw with the starters and gets their timing down.
All-in on Mitchell and Nall, great work by those two.
WOW! 13 whole points against the mighty Buffs defense! Three in the second half!
we bad
Considering how much game experience NM has I thought he did one hell of a good job.
It looks like Mitchell’s weakness is throwing the ball behind receivers. That’s like 3 or 4 now.
I would have actually used Collins in this situation because without the threat of a run the CU defense was able to just tee off on Mitchell and he was just too inexperienced to adjust. Also, does this offense have a TE anymore?
yes. they threw to him on the previous possession and he was interfered with, no call
Well, if this (and previous games) are of any indication, we’ll finish 2-10 for the worst season since 1995.
These are easy ass throws these guys can’t make.
Gentlemen, welcome to rock bottom.
“Rock Bottom”? Not a bad KISS song, I’ll take it.
Last drive they had no timeouts, but the drive before that you are correct.
Also, if I drank 18 Diet Cokes a day, I would be pissing and shaking so much I wouldn’t know what the fuck to call either.
Oh shut up and get me a Diet Coke.
Guys,
Great to see my record looking good.
Good deal.
MR
Don’t want to say told you so but told you so.
Thanks
LMFAO! See my post to you below dipshit. Next tier my ass. Again, congrats on eeking out a 4 point win over the youngest and worst team in the Pac-12. Colorado = bottom feeder. Maybe they should consider going back to the Big-12?
Conference usa, then they might get 3 win in league.
If that last int is used as a reason to keep NM out of the lineup then there is no f’in justice.
Shame that NM hasn’t had nearly the attention in practice that StHC^2 has had; OneEyedKing nailed it at 10:55 and 10:58 above!
Except NM did practice with the first team a lot this week and did all through spring and fall camps… Remember it was 1A and 1B for all of pre season.
We saw it tonight, Mitchell is a marginally better passer but it’s not enough to make a huge difference in how good the offense is.
All of our QBs are terrible. I’m sure Garretson will be the guy next year barring some massive improvement in the offseason.
Are you confusing Mitchell and McMaryon? MM was 1B, not Mitchell, or else Mitchell would have gotten those early series splits vs Weber State week 1.
Mitchell was 1B for nearly all of the off season. McMaryion started to pull ahead right before the season started.
http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2015/04/gary_andersen_calls_qbs_seth_c.html
http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2015/08/marcus_mcmaryion_making_seriou.html
Yes, all the QB’s are terrible. But, for the most recent 6-8 weeks NM hasn’t had anywhere near the reps that Collins has had.
Agree, none of these three will be #1 next season.
Dear Colorado All F’ing Day,
If you’d like to puff your chest out for eeking out a 17-13 win over the youngest and worst team in the Pac-12, you go right ahead. Your team and coach are fucking awesome. Douchebags always douche
This coaching staff is awesome. Not.
Duly noted. You will eat those words in a few years. Go watch Nebraska and see how they’re doing idiot
I hear good things, but they sure haven’t shown it here yet. This one could take a while.
They should recruit several QBs, imo, not just Moran.
agreed. Bring in 3 or 4 and let the competition begin
Does the “Move the chains” Chant come back next home game Seems appropriate for how we play. If you don’t know what I’m talking about you never watched a game in Parker Stadium.
I got it. If we play MM vs Utah, then it will finally be our turn to have a 3rd string QB look all league.
“Decoud has been discharged from the hospital and is back with the team” per Maroon’s tweet. Look out, Utah, em efferss
