  1. Another week, another blocked kick returned for a game-winning TD. This time, it’s Georgia Tech blocking a Florida State field goal and taking it to the house. What a time to be alive!!

  2. Dear OSU defense,

Can you please get them off the field on their opening drive? Thanks

    Signed,

Everyone besides Colorado All F’ing Day. But no one gives a shit about that fucktard

  3. Is Sitake’s defensive strategy to slap the ball carrier until he hopefully falls down? Saw about 4 or 5 slap arm tackles on one run.

  4. It feels like the defense has regressed as the year has gone on. Is it the improvement in competition, or are we just getting worse tackling and in coverage?

    • The tackling has always been a problem through the years. It’s probably a mixture of recruiting 2 and 3 star kids who don’t have the intelligence to make up for their lack of athleticism. I’m pretty sick of this shit and I thought it would change with a new staff. It seems worse.

  5. Rushed 3, but it works out with the short field. Tackle the running QB on about the 5.

Colorado seems pretty bad. But are they worse than us? They also seem really, really slow.

  6. Damien Haskins gets the first RB carry. So 5 RBs have played.

Nice completion and catch by Boldin. Sad I have to congratulate Boldin for making an open catch, but still.

  7. Colorado with the TO. They have to discuss WTF IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW.

Mitchell and Collins in the backfield at the same time is nuts, but I love it. Let Mitchell throw, and Collins run. Or Mitchell handoff to Collins, who throws it back to Mitchell on the 3. Whatever lol

I love this, it’s such awesome nonsense.

  8. Love the waggle passes on that first drive ! Been asking for that maybe a crowton influence ??

Whatever the case I like it. Get Seth on the move and out of the pocket with receivers running across his face. Makes the reads so much easier.

  9. Who is this color commentator?

“Back when I was at USC, the mansions they gave us were much nicer than the Valley Hotel we stayed at here. It made us sleepy.”

    WTF is that?

  10. Colorado self destructing with penalties so far. If the beavs can be the more disciplined team they will be in this thing. Captain obvious here

  11. Collins missing that wide open slant…that has to be a completion at this level. Guyton had so much separation. He might have gone for 20.

  12. Line didn’t generate any gaps, and Nall ran unto a defender. Not great. Bummer that it didn’t work, I really wish we’d go for it more often on 4th-and-2 and shorter.

  13. Poor blocking up front. I like the call of going for it. I would’ve done the same giving it to Nall. Maybe a qb sneak is the safer call though with a shitty O line

  14. #12 fucking sucks. Basically every time I see a big completion, it’s against him. Kendall Hill, Junior. Majoring in “Sucking at coverage and tackling” I think.

    • oh christ, come on. 5 minutes until halftime in a tie game and some of you are admitting defeat already? Hey, with 5 minutes until halftime they’re still in it. Last 2 weeks they weren’t

  15. Feel bad for your hurt player, but y’all team goin’ down 2nite!

    St Sefo to Spruce

    St Sefo to Spruce

Pound it with physical overpowering run play

    Wash

    Rinse

    Repeat

    • Nah, definitely didn’t move outside the pocket on that one. Got good protection, just nothing opened up, and he made a bone headed decision. It happens, and as long as it doesn’t become the routine, we’ll live with it. Just glad to see a QB in there who doesn’t have the first instinct to take off and run.

  16. Josh Mitchell is probably going to play to his max with his brother in there. It’s a nice boost to two positions.

I don’t want to get too excited over Mitchell yet, just a few passes and CO isn’t very good

    • true but so far Mitchell looks like the best passer of the 3. But he’s no real threat to run so that removes the read option. At this point I like the platooning of 2 QB’s.

      • Mitchell can run a little. Not like Collins, but it’s not like he is Mannion or Canfield.

I’d be fine with how they used Collins the first drive or rotating. But they need this passing threat (if Mitchell can keep passing like this)

        • yes but not enough to continue as a threat to take it to the house in the read option. It’s a conundrum for coach Baldwin indeed

  17. Doesn’t it seem there is something not quite right in the relationship between Storm Woods and GA? They can say whatever they want, but something is off there. Has he been on the field for even 5 plays so far?

  18. Mitchell is showing a calmness and nice arm, but I am trying to keep in mind it is against Colorado. There are some plays where they are getting absolutely no pressure on NM.

  19. Colorado’s best player is their punter.

I LOVE that Mitchell has been playing series after series though. Please give up on Collins.

We need this win to keep him in, though.

  20. Mitchell is savvy back there.

Can he run enough to be a Travis Wilson type?

Seth Collins looks like he’s freaking out on the sidelines.

    • WIlson is huge (6-7 233) which helps him running. Mitchell is pretty small (6-3 198) and not fast or agile. Can scramble for a few yards if it’s open but won’t get more than that.

    • Did they ever show him? I figured he was throwing a tantrum and the P12N crew had the decency not to show him.

I do wish they’d continue to use him on offense. We can’t afford not to use all of our weapons on offense.

      • They showed him briefly. He was talking to another player, his jaw very wide open while talking like he was upset, and the other player looked to be calming him down/reassuring him. It was only like 5 seconds.

    • I’m really curious how he’ll react if he straight-up loses the job to Mitchell tonight. I hope he transfers. Just go. You aren’t a D1 QB.

  21. Hey interviewer, these 18-21 year olds are not troops. They’re students playing a game. Just fucking stop with the military-sports analogies.

On the plus side, love Anderson with the slight shot at his receivers, saying “Nick was making plays, I wish his receivers helped him out a bit more.”

    • You know, historically, sports were originally promoted in the early 20th century as a function to create a more battle ready public of young men. That militaristic coaching mindset and talk, especially in contact sports like football, still exists today as a carryover from modern sports early roots. You probably don’t like to think of that fact, but an in shape youth is a military asset.

    • To be fair, what does he have to work with? Boldin is just dogshit but Baldwin wants him to be a star. Jarmon barely plays, instead we’re playing Guyton. Who is an idiot and has mediocre hands at best. But he’s tall! Or something…

    • Guyton strikes me as a guy who doesn’t have a lot going on upstairs. I wouldn’t blame the PI on Brennan. And we all know Bolden can’t catch.

    • I think an example may be made this offseason and that example may be Brennan. Unless he has landed some major recruits, the wrs have been disappointing this year. Though, part of that is Boldin who has always been a 1 step forward, 2 step back guy.

      • Brennan is a great recruiter and highly regarded as a coach. You can’t blame him for Bolden being uncoordinated. He’s developed some good WR’s, including Villamin.

        • I know he is a great recruiter in general. Not aware of what he has done this year (typically follow from a distance until late Jan). Not so sure he is a great position coach. Other than Cooks, I haven’t seen a lot of development among the corps. I would like to keep him around but I do wonder I they look around for someone to cut and Brennan is the outsider among the coaches.

  22. Looks like Bolden can’t tell the difference between SC and NM he drops them both their balls.

Only difference is SC can run NM can stay in the pocket.

  23. Jim Wilson’s comment re the Gyton pass (paraphrasing): Yes the pass was behind him but it was catchable he has to learn to go down and catch the pass. Not all passes are the catch and run variety.

    Made sense to me.

  24. Mitchell looks like the guy. He’s made some beautiful deep throws and he seems able to hit the short passes too. He’s quicker than I thought too. He could be our Seth Russell.

Woods brings some stability and I’d like to see him out there for 75% of the snaps maybe use Brown as a 3rd down back and Nall for goal line.

I liked GAs half time response that the WRs aren’t helping Mitchell. Thankfully we have great coaching at the position so it’ll prove next year.

    Collins should be a WR.

    • I would like to see Nall as an every down back. He is starting to look good. Has good power and speed. He certainly has things to work on but man he is starting to show his potential.

      • I wouldn’t mind that. But brown looks like he has some potential. Woods can make a cut and I don’t think we have the line for a straight line guy like Nall.

  25. Villamin wide the hell open and catches the ball. Yay.

On the other hand, Collins starting fucking sucks. Baldwin is all-in on his boy.

  26. First drive in a nutshell:

    Ryan Nall 3 yard carries.

Wide open Villamin for like 25 yards.

    Collins run for nothing.

    Collins run for like 4.

    Collins happy feet sack.

    Missed FG.

    Fuck Collins.

  27. Why are we unable to finish sacks? Is it just us, or this more widespread? We’ve had good pressure several times but couldn’t get the sack.

  28. So Ortiz, instead of drilling the ab with a full head of steam, he stops in front waves his hands in the qb face, stops, watches the qb run slowly past him m, then has to turn around and chase up field. Why can’t our guys just tackle?

    • To be fair, Pritchard started the sack, moving so slowly he couldn’t possible run past Sefo. CNL finished it when our DT was unable to bring the QB to the ground.

  29. Angry I’m having issues posting. Sometimes a “stop spammers” page comes up wanting me to enter my email address and type in a captcha but no captcha appears

  30. SO FUCKING STUPID!

DONT BRING MITCHELL IN ON 3RD AND 7.

Jesus, just putting a guy in a position to fail. Fuck you. If Collins can’t be trusted on 3rd and 7, he can’t be fucking trusted to play period.

Whoever is making these personnel decisions is incredibly stupid.

  31. Despite the fact Harlow sometimes sucks I feel bad for him. Dude looked like he was trying not to cry knowing he suffered a serious season ending injury.

  32. So…..have we completely abandoned the up-tempo offense? Don’t have to be Baylor/Oregon hyperspeed, but it seems like we’ve almost completely stopped even trying to hurry things on occasion.

  33. 10-10 headed to the 4th. Anyone’s game right now. Eyeball test shows these are easily the two worst teams in the conference. At least they’re still in it and have a shot at victory. All we can ask for

  34. So many missed tackles. At the beginning of the game I saw people closing ground and then wrapping up. I hope we get that going in the 4th

  35. In a game like this against an equal opponent, the defense is in the right place a lot of the time, but the first tackler to the ball is just atrocious, play after play.and what puzzles me is that it’s different guys.

  36. A ton of guys in the box, but easy TD on the QB run. We don’t seem to match up to overloaded offensive lines; we have too many players weakside and continually get torched.

Fucking sad. Our defense is just so, so bad. So many missed tackles, bad coverage, nobody can get off blocks. No turnovers created. How has it come to this, our defenses used to be fearsome.

  37. D is porous, but I feel the Beavs had momentum going into the half, and lost that on that first drive when Collins came out as the starter and then Owens missed the FG. Momentum changed, Collins then came out again, and momentum got even worse when NM got sacked on the 3rd and 7. The missed FG and 3rd and 7 sack were huge momentum changes. Game felt even until those.

  38. #12 dropping the easy INT. it’s like they aren’t ready to make a play and have a mentality of ‘next time’. This team is pathetic and the coaches aren’t helping.

  39. The read option does not work with Mitchell in there. I’m not saying to play Collins solely for that reason. But you take away the element of the QB taking off and running it.

    • Mitchell just needs to show he can run it to keep the defense honest on it. He’s not a statue like Mannion/Canfield, so he can run the read option adequately. Wouldn’t still be on the roster if he couldn’t

  40. Can we throw in the towel on Brown? Did you see him almost throw the ball away on his one freaking carry? He also just gets hurt like 3x per week.

  41. Also, I hate the camera shots of the crowd. Kids today just don’t seem into the games. They look stupid and it makes Oregon state look Bush-league.

  42. A holding call where they throw out the #98 that doesn’t exist and then the DB was playing patty cake with Guyton and they get Guyton at the very end? The numbnut announcers made it sound like Guyton was clearly at fault.

  43. We went through this same thing last year with Villamin. Everyone said he sucked, I said to give him a shot b/c he’s a huge target. Now he’s very good.

    Guyton will be very good.

    • That’s fine, but football isn’t basketball, where game reps are irreplaceable. You can learn to play IN PRACTICE and not screw up games.

  44. So if there something in play here that for the good of the league that it’s time for CU to end their losing streak? How could that not be called PI, it wasn’t even difficult to see.

  45. I know, I know, I know, football is more complicated but Robinson took total shit and won a minor tournament his first season. Tinker took what Robinson left and had a winning season his first season. Just sayin.

  46. Dammit!!!

Throw behind the WR, bobbled and picked. Bleh.

Those throws on slants behind the WR? That’s a timing issue from NOT GETTING REPS IN PRACTICE. Those will go away when he gets more chances to throw with the starters and gets their timing down.

All-in on Mitchell and Nall, great work by those two.

  47. I would have actually used Collins in this situation because without the threat of a run the CU defense was able to just tee off on Mitchell and he was just too inexperienced to adjust. Also, does this offense have a TE anymore?

  48. Bolden was open as shit on that last play.. Lead him and hope he catches it. If he catches it it’s a sure first down.. Mitchell hits some of the intermediate throws better than Collins but he still doesn’t throw an accurate ball… We could be witnessing the worst QB situation in the history of college football.

These are easy ass throws these guys can’t make.

    • You are out of control right now. NM doesn’t get to practice with the 1st team, and timing is EVERYTHING on those passes. AKA building chemistry with your WRs. Which happens through reps. Which all went to Collins, who can’t throw.

Give Mitchell 6+ weeks to practice with the first team, he makes those throws. And Collins isn’t making them anyway.

      • I don’t think so. BUT I’ll be super glad to be wrong on this one. A few of those balls he threw out of bounds were really bad not a fault of reps. You have to keep the ball in bounds to let your dude make a play on the ball…

This is just a year where all the qb’s on the roster are inexperienced/ suck unfortunately.

    • Yes, we could be witnessing the worst QB situation….. . But, it is about using your best option even if it is just less inept than the other guy(s).
Nobody is claiming that NM is now a top flight QB, just that he brings more to the position than pollo loco, who could be a good RB and maybe WR.

  49. Why didn’t they go to the first series stuff? I mean they moved the ball. Mix in Nall, seems simple enough. Baldwin is inept, or blind, can’t figure it out.

    • maybe because they didn’t have any timeouts left??? If you think Colorado was going to fall for that pass from Collins to Mitchell a 2nd time I have a bridge that fully goes over the grand canyon you may be interested in

      • Through the whole game, not just the last series. Baldwin finds something that works, then abandons it the next series, no attempt to reproduce past success. Or maybe they try it once.

    • Last drive they had no timeouts, but the drive before that you are correct.

Also, if I drank 18 Diet Cokes a day, I would be pissing and shaking so much I wouldn’t know what the fuck to call either.

  50. Don’t want to say told you so but told you so.

As I mentioned, you guys were the next rung up the ladder for us on our way back. We owned this game before it started. Your fans don’t bring a whole lot to the game atmosphere either.

We know what it’s like to see a better team coming into your house to stomp your team. Trust me.

I’ve watched a few times over these last few years where my team didn’t match up physically and my coaches were clearly out coached. So I know how you guys likely feel having those realities hit you today.

Just glad we can now be seen as a team in the “next tier up” from the bottom. I noticed you have at least 2 wins already, but can’t remember who you beat? Northern Arizona??

    Thanks

    • LMFAO! See my post to you below dipshit. Next tier my ass. Again, congrats on eeking out a 4 point win over the youngest and worst team in the Pac-12. Colorado = bottom feeder. Maybe they should consider going back to the Big-12?

  51. If that last int is used as a reason to keep NM out of the lineup then there is no f’in justice.
Shame that NM hasn’t had nearly the attention in practice that StHC^2 has had; OneEyedKing nailed it at 10:55 and 10:58 above!

  52. Dear Colorado All F’ing Day,

If you’d like to puff your chest out for eeking out a 17-13 win over the youngest and worst team in the Pac-12, you go right ahead. Your team and coach are fucking awesome. Douchebags always douche

  53. For all of you saying Baldwin and Sitake are killing us, may I please remind you of the 52 freshman on the roster??? Most of who were recruited by????? Get real.

    • WSN: Those 52 freshmen aren’t calling the plays and imo the play calling was not up to the level that it needs to be in order to be successful in the Pac-12.

      • but some of those 52 freshman aren’t executing on said plays. This is not rocket surgery here. I could cite specific examples sitting down watching a game with you. The 4th down fail on the final drive had someone open over the middle. Instead Mitchell makes a poor throw to someone else. Face the facts. This is a young, inexperienced team. You show me a team that has been successful with 52 freshman on the roster and I’ll take a hot load right in the eye from Ron Jeremy in front of everyone.

      • This is a team that won 5 games last year and 6 the year before. We lost a ton of the starters and are using completely new systems. It’s really not that crazy that we’re this bad. I don’t blame Sitake, I think he’s at least adequate. Baldwin I’m still giving the benefit of the doubt, but he’ll have more to prove to me next year.

      • One last though my friend and I hate using the word identity. But offensively, right now the Beavs have none. Some shit has worked at times, others not. I’m just as frustrated as you and I am sure this coaching staff is as well. The only thing I do think right now? Ryan Nall needs to be numero uno at RB and Mitchell is a better passer than Collins but worse at the read option. Woods and Brown can ride the pine imo

        • @WSN: Can’t argue with what you’re saying my friend. But that doesn’t mean I’m a fan of DB’s play calling and possibly his use of personnel. GA might want a certain kind of offense but if the skills of the existing players doesn’t match up then the coaching staff has to go with what works. That’s assuming there’s enough talent on the team for anything to work which might be a bad assumption.

I’m not impressed with the talent on the team, especially the OL, DL, LBs, RBs WRs, and after tonight the DBs. Oh and also the OC.

Ugh. Here’s hoping the coaching staff gets after the JC kids cuz lots of help is needed.

          • you are 100% spot on on the lack of talent at many positions. There is SOME talent but most of it is young and inexperienced. Bad talent + lack of experience or lack of coach-ability = poop

          • The injuries have exposed the talent problem more.

As Jack and I discussed in a past thread, a lot of this comes down to QB play. With a good QB, this team would look much better. Nebraska fans are whining about talent, too. They have a lot. But they also have a QB who doesn’t run a pro system…it’s always about the QB, which is why I spent so much time harping on that issue for the past year. At this point, we have to assume Garretson next year and they bring in a prep this cycle. They should recruit several QBs, imo, not just Moran.

  54. Does the “Move the chains” Chant come back next home game Seems appropriate for how we play. If you don’t know what I’m talking about you never watched a game in Parker Stadium.

  55. OK, so the D didn’t really look like shit tonight; and this is coming from a guy who was believing the Beavs D would keep them in nearly every game this season.

Peko had a good night but there were way too many tackling failures and the DB’s were carved up pretty regularly. And, only ONE sack?

Those three 3 and outs near the end were, hopefully, a sign of things to come.

Radio says Decoud will be OK. As good of news as there could be this soon.

  56. Scotty swear time:
Riley fucked us by mailing it in for years, choosing handouts to his good old boys club over duty to his employer, and dropping the recruiting ball. The shit’s hitting the fan, but let’s not forget who took the dump. I hope Baldwin and crew aren’t smearing poop on the walls.

  57. Jim Wilson channeling his inner angry; pretty close to calling for StHC to be used as an RB along with Nall. Counts the rest of the RG’s out, some due to injury.
However, Andersen saying he will be going with 2 QB’s.
