    • Angry will be disappointed after the Beavs roll to another victory. Another low drama win on the road this time.
Bray isn’t JS and the predictable foolhardy play calls aren’t going to be part of the is year so Angry needs to manufacture some drama instead. He will pick against OSU in every game against this “glorified high school schedule”.
      Beavs by 2-3 touchdowns.

      • Even if OSU wins Angry will just keep using the “glorified HS Football” narrative he’s using this season. So, no matter how good OSU and/or individual players do this season, that will be his excuse as to why they are not lol

      • 11

As much as I appreciate him running the site, Angry’s opinions aren’t relevant when he’s admitted he doesn’t really follow the team or college football anymore.

That said, the team didn’t look like they have a lot of swagger against ISU. I expect this one to be close, at least through the 3rd quarter. Our D is still questionable and who knows if we can move the ball well in the air.

  1. OSU D produces another 2+ takeaways to help provide the difference in a contested, but comfortable victory…

Anticipate some nice passes to TEs, Johnson with some nice complementary play at QB…solid run game….

Awaiting more game vibes, perhaps after tri tip, chips and salsa…

  2. Last year someone posted a link for an OSU CBS Sports Net game on YouTube. Pulled up on my phone and then just cast it to my TV. Does anyone think there is a likelihood of that again for this game?

    • Not to mention they were supposed to wind the clock before the field goal and didn’t, giving Notre dame a chance on offense.

Cal has been jammed over and over by the Auburn refs too.

Lots of home cooking going on.

I can’t stand coach “prime”. I hope Nebraska hammers them! I’m a big Matt Rhule fan and think he’ll turn around Nebraska so they are relevant again.

  4. Goddammit I just saw that tonight’s game is on CBS Sports Network which I don’t have. Thought it was on CW.
Honestly it’s exhausting keeping track of this shit every week.

    • Nebby may want to hold out the golden boy freshman for the 2nd half before the Buffs head hunt on him out of frustration.

Sanders hasn’t really learned clock management either. He is quite a fraud and so are his sons at this point. A lot of style and hype but very little substance when it really counts.

  5. Sounds like Beavs have several starters out, but so far you wouldnt know it. Backups are stepping up. Hope depth doesnt become an issue in the 2nd half

  6. You have stopped them both times they have had the ball. You gotta think you give them an 80- 90 yard field you are going to get the stop again.

  7. Jabari Johnson has got some wheels! We haven’t seen a quarterback with those athletic qualities and running abilities since Sean Manion was playing -)

  8. How can we have had so many bad kickers for the last 8 years or so. It’s really impressive. This has that “you’ve let them hang around too long and it’s gonna bite you in the ass” feels to it. Beavs have looked better in just about every aspect yet the Azteca are in it and if they can clean up their penalties, this could get real interesting.

  9. Team looked better second half last week and pulled away, let’s see if that was a one off or coaches actually making good adjustments is the new norm

  10. Defense has looked really good. Closed down spacing in pass game. Better Tackling. Drawing Holding calls. Not allowing really anything on the ground, against a stellar back. Just keep it up. Offense is moving. Only a matter of time until they punch it in.

  11. Bad drop. Perfect throw. Also, stadium is nice. A huge Beaver turnout here. In addition, fans of SDSU have been some of the worst I’ve met.

Tanner walker needs to walk his ass home and not see the field again. He’s garbage. Turned a first and goal into a rushed punt and completely shifted momentum against the beavs.

Bray already seems to have a better handle on play calling and team identity than Smith and it’s only game 2 of his career.

  14. I think the Beavs will be feeling better about themselves next week than the Ducks will. Duck fan already has their grip on having to sweat out wins against teams they thought they’d beat by three scores.

My guess is the line will be Oregon plus 5 and half. And that will be bet down by Friday.

  15. Game review:
Some key errors that should be remembered and emphasized:
    -2 missed field goals
-Walker dropped a perfect TD throw on a trick play
    -Bad punt
    -A couple of PI calls
    -Richie special teams penalty

The defense is going to be pretty good.

Wide receivers are somewhat suspect if Walker is the primary target.

Ducks dbs will hold and push every receiver all game. Beavs need to be prepared for it.

Great game and good result. Go Beavs!

    • Well, Clemons is supposed to be that guy but he’s still injured. I really hope for his sake that this isn’t how his college career goes…never seeing the field due to injuries. Injuries have really hurt this squad. Going into spring camp, it was a huge strength. Valsin and Clemons are the top 2, then Walker/Noga/Reddick/Card/Wells all fill that 3&4 spot. No Valsin, no Clemons and now it’s starting to look shaky. I do think Reddick, Card and Wells are more than capable, and I’ve been hearing Anderson has been open numerous times but they’ve went elsewhere with the ball.

  16. dux nearly lose to Boise State. The fact it was a crappy last second win at home will be quickly forgotten by the media who fawn all over the dux.
    I hate the dux.
The dux have every dollar they could ask for. They have the PR machine of nike creating their image. They are always camera ready. Their players may earn more as “students” than they will see in a first year contract with the NFL. But they never quite measure and they nearly lost at home (again) to a MW team. However, because of the aforementioned nike dollars, they start each season ranked in the top 5.
    What fucking bullshit.

That was easily the most frustrating 21 point win I think I have ever witnessed.
Two straight Big 18 opponents coming up, in Reser, now we shall see what the team and staff are made of.
Seemed like a lot of penalties in the 2nd half.

Nice defense against a good RB. Even with their hurry up offense SDSU only got 49 plays, 179 yds….

solid road win….one new coaching staff over another.

  19. Considering the injury situation, the outcome was pretty good. Offense needs more pass catchers. Walker is nice as a big target, but can’t be your yards after catch guy. Would be great as the #3 guy, not the #1 role like he’s having to fill.
Seems SDSU knew we didnt have passing weapons so they could risk playing close to the line and limiting the run.
Hope the Beavs get more bodies to rotate next week.

Who all is out with injury currently?

      • Clemons and Valsin were 1&2. Unfortunately, injuries have made you’re 3rd guy the primary, although, it would appear Reddick, Card and Wells are all much quicker and more explosive than Walker but for some reason he does stay as that #1 guy. Nice bounce back by him on that long catch, but that td drop still overshadowed that play imo. Especially for the guy who supposedly has the best hands on the team. Had a drop or two last week as well. Maybe as he gets used to starting and being in the moment, he’ll clean that up.

  20. Some comparisons to consider as we look ahead to the CW.
Third down efficiency: Beavs 9/19, uck 4/12
    Penalties: Beavs 8 for 85yds, uck 9/74yd
Times sacked: Beavs 0, uck 4
    Fumbles: Beavs 0, uck 2
Biggest difference tonight was big plays by ucks, KO and punt returns to the house.

    • Very different matchups and contexts, with UO at home.

X-Factors: OSU QB Gabarri Johnson…OSU homefield…Bray+Gunderson+DeVan probably care more about preparing for and winning the game than Lanning et al…Gunderdon opening up playbook…referees protecting UO.

I think Lanning is overrated..he’s different than Mario Cristobal, but still underperforms, just in a different way.

Said before, and some do disagree, but one weakness in Eugene is the collection of prima-donnas and the management challenges that presents.
Punch uck early, watch what happens when they first fumble….that may be enough to break any team spirit they may have.

  21. Why when I see the average yards per carry that it seems low compared to what i see when watching the game? It seems like it should easily be above 5 yards. This makes me a little nervous, like my perception of the run game isn’t aligned with the reality of the run game.

  22. Nice complete road win. Absolutely committed to run which opened up passing game. SDSU had 8 guys in box, was fully committed to stopping the run. Didn’t matter. Great play calling. OL, QB, and DL is better than expected. Physically dominant on both sides of ball. Aztecs will feel it tomorrow. Left 10+ points on the board with missed flea flicker and FGs but still dominated. 2:1 TOP is crazy. Got to bring same effort and execution next week.

  23. Devil’s advocate. We’ve played 2 bad teams.
Oregon has played 2 teams who are better than either team we’ve played.
Still don’t see an OSU win next week unless Gundy has been purposefully keeping the pass game very vanilla(which i dont think is the case, it’s just subpar right now because of personnel reasons)

Solid points. I think we’re seeing a winnable game next week if everything goes right, as opposed to some turd dwellers in here who were saying a few month ago that the game shouldn’t even be on the schedule because the Beavs are going to get destroyed.

  24. Didn’t get to watch yet, but GJ looks like he had an amazing series. Hayes missed 2 FG’s? The more things change…

    Did Clemons play at all?

  25. I didn’t see the game as well but watched some highlights. Difficult to gauge how good the Beavs are as well as the two teams they have played so far. The ducks appear to be over rated evident by their struggles to squeak by their first two opponents. I do feel now the game next week is very winnable but will have to throw the ball in order to win as I think the ducks will stack the box trying to stop our running game.

Enjoying the Coach Slime fail at Colorado. I understand they lowered academic standards to help lure him there. The administration has to be getting tired of his mouth and the way he represents the school. The constant roster turnover, lack of results and the way players are run off will likely be turning recruits and transfers off in the near future. If they have a rich collective they’ll no doubt still pull in a few, but I don’t see this hire working out for Colorado in the long run.

      • He is gone once Hunter and Shedour leave. It seems his only
Goal was to get those two in the national spotlight long enough to get higher draft status than they would have at Jackson St. Plain and simple. All other players are means or an end, and apparently expendable if they aren’t contributing to the main reason he took the job.
He is a horrible game strategy coach and he has surrounded himself with a lot of former NFL guys to try and gloss over that fact. The locker room is so disjointed because of the portal it isn’t a surprise they are flailing. His approach doesn’t exactly exude a “persist through setbacks” mentality, and the team reflects that flaw also.

        • I wonder what “snake-oil” prime is selling his recruits? NIL money? Chance to be coached up to play in the nfl? Everything is about “I”. They are not a team playing for one another. I’m sure the players see that it all about promoting the Sanders boys and maybe Travis Hunter since he draws a lot of attention to the program.

          • I assume the NFL hall of fame player, with swag sells a lot by itself. Add in big NFL players like Warren Sapp and I’m sure that grabs guys too. Also, they can offer playing time.

  26. PFF fun from after SDSU:
-Beavs rated as the #9 team in the country; #4 offense, #31 defense (remember these scores are heavily skewed by SOS…the offenses ranked higher than ours are Ole Miss, Rutgers, and Navy).
-#7 ranked run blocking team and #12 ranked rushing team

    Offense
-Top offensive performers were Gray, Walker, and McCoy
-Bottom performers were Noga and Terry
-Gray is the #10 ranked OL in the country, Gonzalez is #19, GCL is #26, Strand is #33, Vincic is #37, Voltin is #49…6 OL in the top 50!

    Defense
-Top performers were Collins, Kane, and Schuster
-Bottom performers were Saluni and Saez
-Collins is the #3 defensive player in the country (all positions)

    Looking ahead to Nike:
-Their offensive rating is pretty bad. Defense is #12 in the country (though rush defense is their weakness…obviously after playing against Jeanty).
-Gabriel is ranked as the #58 QB in the country.

    Bonus:
There are only 4 power conference offenses ranked worse than Lindgren’s at MSU

    • Also, a stat that usually correlates well with who is a “good QB” is Big Time Throw to Turnover Worthy Play ratio. Basically, how well do they make difficult throws compared to how often they make bad decisions that could lead to a TO. National leaders last year were Michael Penix, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, Bo Nix, and Garrett Greene.

McCoy has no TWP’s and only 3 QB’s with 0 TWP’s have as many BTT’s. So far, he’s taking care of the ball well while still making some big plays.

    • Injuries, primarily. No Clemons or Valsin. Noga and Anderson have been mostly invisible. Card has had a few good plays. Not sure how Reddicks has looked?
Walker has been the most consistent receiver, despite the handful of misses yesterday like the flea flicker(should have been a catch) and the wide open pass McCoy threw poorly.(not Walker’s fault)
Problem for Walker is he just doesnt have the quick twitch speed like we’re been used to with guys like Gould/Bolden. But so far his big frame makes a nice target for McCoy

Considering the factors for next week/who has the advantage:
    At Reser/OSU
Run offense vs Oregon run defense/ OSU
Pass offense vs Oregon pass defense/Oregon
    Run vs OSU run defense/OSU
    Pass vs OSU pass defense/OSU
    Special Teams/Oregon
    Coaching staff experience / Oregon
    Refs leaning/Oregon
    Media perception/Oregon
    Locker room mentality/OSU
    Coaching strategy/OSU
    Motivation/OSU
    Uniform combinations/Oregon
    Turnovers/OSU

    Keys are:
Run the ball, tackle, don’t allow easy touchdowns on big plays, keep the refs honest, keep the ducks defense honest with a few big pass plays, and frustrate the ducks into rash attempts to win the game with gambles.

OSU will win by a touchdown. 31-24

      • Yes, TOP can be a big factor, but………..you still have to consider the explosive plays. uck had the two TD’s off of kick returns (100 yd KO and 70 yd PR) along with more than a couple 30 to 60 yd plays from scrimmage.

On another note, how long will uck O-line continue to commit penalties and give up sacks? Remember, Coach Cavanaugh is now on their staff, maybe foul language and bear crawls will be effective at some point?

    • It’ll be interesting to see what Gundy/DeVan scheme up for the run game. The way they attack the middle with quick inside zones is brutal.

Even with a pretty deep rotation on the D-line Boise wore them down pretty good but their run plays were relatively slow developing.

  28. Agree with everything minus the coaching and uniforms. Bray has proven himself over the years to be prepared and focused. Assistants are coaching up the guys well. Uniforms…. Well, I like ours more.

  29. The one thing that worries me about McCoy is that he seems to lock onto his primary receiver for too long and often and I’m just worried about him getting picked because of it. He’ll need the run game and good pass protection from the Oline against the ucks pass rush. Hopefully he can have another on point game with no turnovers. We can’t afford to lose the turnover battle next week.

    • He almost had a pick 6 right after Walker dropped that flea flicker. Locked onto the receiver running an out route and the CB jumped it, but fortunately it was just out of reach.

      • BSU qb was getting rid of the ball within 2-3 seconds on a lot of quick crosses, slants or timing out routes. He didn’t have much luck completing them due to Ducks having no fear of PI calls and a lot of body contact on every Bronco receiver.

Beavs need to try some double moves and trust the OLine to hold on passing downs.
But always- “run the ball” and don’t get too cute. The one thing ducks are allergic to is a steady diet of smash mouth physicality running the ball right at them.

  30. Much ballyhooed Nix with 135 yards, 2 INTs, 48.1 rating. So tired of hearing he’s “the first rookie to start for broncos since Elway.” He’s probably nearly 4 years older than Elway was in his rookie year, and Nix was getting paid in college, virtually no course load at UO. “He’s a professional! He runs meetings!”

  31. Beavs need to get healthy this week. Need to have all play makers ready to go. Game will come down to a few plays. One team will win 28-17. Team that can run the ball, wins special teams, and wins turnover battle wins the game. Let’s hope for a well officiated fair game.
