In a rare occurrence, the last thread (with well over 700 comments) has lasted a full month without anyone asking for a new one! A sign of apathy among y’all?
Baseball ranked in the top 15, WBB winning big, and FB picks up a 6’/200lb RB from Vandy. Surely something there worth mentioning. And, always, there’s Tinkle and Barnes.
What’s on yer mind?
GO BEAVS!
Too tall to hide/too light to smash through? New RB from Vandy:
https://archive.ph/2jBC2
It’s time to change directions and let Stinkle go. He seems to attract good enough talent but can’t coach up that talent.
By contrast, Rueck was dealt a much more crappy hand after 2023 and has already rebuilt this program.. In fact, if all players currently eligible to return next year and do so, this team could be a top 15-20 team next year.
I’ve been to many OSU WBB games and they are just well prepared and their chemistry is just so solid. Rueck rarely gets the most talented or athletically gifted players, but he knows how to get the most out of those players in his system. I’m not sure how he does it but his formula works year after year bc he knows what it takes to build a winning program…
” I’m not sure how he does it… “
Neither am I, but here are a couple thoughts:
–he builds relationships, between his players and 1:1 between each team member and himself
–he prioritizes a team first attitude in those he accepts, maybe more than ability
–he is an experienced student of the game
–he uses his staff
–on balance, and compared to others, he is calm and under control
Where am I mistaken?
What did I miss?
Oh yeah, “girls have to be happy to win, boys have to win to be happy”……per SR
Yeah, those are spot on.
K93 juked Omar Speights out of his jockstrap in the first half on a nice run. Hawks back to the Super Bowl!
Apathetic, yes.
I don’t think Tinkle is getting another contract. My guess is that he announces he’ll announce he’ll retire at the end of the current deal. And I wouldn’t mind seeing Haslam get the gig. He’s about what they’d get if they looked outside of the program anyway. I think he’s responsible for getting most of the talent the Beavers do get. And he’d be coming into the job well aware of the challenges.
I hope you are right. He is the anchor around our neck.
I’m so apathetic, I don’t even care about being apathetic.
If OSU were strategic about athletics, and finances (NIL resources), why wouldn’t it make the most sense to get rid of Tinkle asap, and focus NIL for a new coach to build out the MBB roster?
Putting resources into a 15 man roster and a 68 team tournament may bring better and quicker results than trying to build up the football roster in a fixed eco-system of a 12 team playoff while being an outcast among 120 teams.
My guess is that the Big10 is pushing for 24 team playoff in order to dump bowl affiliations and press towards a playoff driven postseason instead of bowl season for college football.
OSU will not rise to the top 10 any time soon in football. Sad to say but accurate, nonetheless.
This is actually good reasoning. The return on investment for hoops is much more pronounced than the uncertainty of football payouts, especially when we get half of what we earn in postseason units.
We can still chase whatever football dreams anyone has, and maybe we catch lightning in a bottle every now and then. But rising to the level of Zags and SDSU in hoops gives us a much more consistent payoff. Winning at football can still be a priority for putting butts in seats and gathering that revenue. But winning at hoops would also increase ticket revenue over what we have now.
Thanks for the compliment Jack.
My blind squirrel/broken clock moment I guess.
So we know they will do nothing different and probably extend Tinkle.
I’m not giving up on football yet bc most everyone is realizing how broken the system is and that it requires a major overhaul. What that overhaul looks like is YTD but it’s coming and it will happen sooner than most think.
What will it look like when it happens is anyone’s guess, but the next realignment may very well create opportunities for the have nots. Remember, prior to the 85 scholly limit, they were clamoring for change bc of the lack of parity across CFB and that change made a more level playing field for small market schools. Sure, it took time but it eventually resulted in more parity.
Here we are 41 years later and confronted with the same issue. So it will be interesting to see if the entire system collapses in on itself, or if there is some competitive balance restored. We shall see.
And during that lopsided era, OSU was close to the winningest program in the country in MBB.
So the point remains, as football success is unattainable in many respects, an emphasis on MBB is a worthy pivot, as long as Tinkle is not part of it. If Tinkle remains, it would be a disastrous NIL investment.
Like I said, I’m not giving up on FB just yet but Stinkle needs to go in order for MBB to at least have a shot at success.
PAC-12 meeting to discuss football schedule:
“Kickoff is just eight months away. There is no schedule, no location for the conference championship, no tiebreaker procedure and no bowl lineup.
That should change this week when university presidents and athletic directors gather Wednesday in the Bay Area with commissioner Teresa Gould and conference executives to finalize details for the fall.
The Pac-12 waited to finalize its schedule until clarity came to the College Football Playoff format. Late last week, the CFP announced it would remain a 12-team event…
With eight football members, the Pac-12 has three options:
1) A seven-game conference schedule that would require teams to play five non-conference games, a potentially costly and logistically difficult plan.
2) An eight-game conference schedule with one home-and-home series for each team against another conference member, thereby reducing the number of non-conference dates to four.
3) A combination of the two models that features a home-and-home series for each team but only seven conference games. In other words, one of the home-and-home matchups would not count toward the conference standings.
The meetings this week should produce a resolution. (Scenario No. 1 is considered the least likely.) But because the official schedule likely would require a comprehensive review at the campus level, the Pac-12 could delay the formal announcement until early February.
The Pac-12 could stage its championship at a neutral site (e.g., Las Vegas) or allow the No. 1 seed to host the game. As with the 2026 schedule, an official announcement could come next month.
The bowl lineup for next winter likely will take more time because of the interconnected nature of the postseason. The Pac-12 must work with both bowl partners and other conferences to determine tie-ins.

Host it at reser
Ugh, if they schedule home and homes again….just no.
Home and Homes are the best. Let’s do WSU and BSU to limit travel Expenses.
That’s like playing with yourself and calling it a “homerun”
I do like the idea of a “playoff” with 1 and 4 and 2 and 3 playing the final week of the season (higher seed hosts), with 5 and 6, and 7 and 8 playing.
The unforgettable legend that is Alex Austin is in the Super Bowl for the Pats
Duke, QB reach settlement:
“”We are pleased to announce that Darian Mensah, supported by our team of legal counsel and Young Money APAA Sports, has reached a settlement agreement with Duke University,” the statement read. “Darian extends his sincere gratitude to Duke University for engaging in good-faith discussions and reaching this resolution. He wishes the Blue Devils, Coach Diaz, the staff, and the entire fan base continued success for the seasons ahead.”
…
Duke also issued a statement on the settlement.
“We are committed to fulfilling all promises and obligations Duke makes to our student-athletes when we enter into contractual agreements with them, and we expect the same in return,” Duke wrote. “Enforcing those agreements is a necessary element of ensuring predictability and structure for athletic programs. It is nonetheless a difficult choice to pursue legal action against a student and teammate; for this reason we sought to resolve the matter fairly and quickly.”
…
Duke landed a commitment from San Jose State quarterback Walker Eget on Jan. 26.
…
Mensah was one of the highest-paid players in college football in 2025, reportedly making $4 million annually, per reports.”
So Miami not only is going to pay his new NIL contract which is likely much more than the original $4 from Duke, but also is paying the buyout to Duke?
So somewhere around $10m for 1 year of Mensah as QB?
That’s more than Oregon State pays in NIL for their entire roster plus the coaching staff combined.
Also Jay Harbaugh going for a super bowl win. While not a player here, he was a undergrad assistant. Kind of hilarious that he could get a super bowl win before his dad.
edit – Jay Harbaugh was on the Ravens staff as a low level assistant when they won the Super Bowl so he does have one. But this time, he’s one of the primary coaches and no nepotism claims

MBB sweeps LMU 72-69 and now 11-12 on the season. They could qualify for the CBI out is still around. Lol
We bad!
Sean Mannion just got the Eagles OC job!
That’s Heismannion
Fastest rise to an OC in the NFL that I can recall in recent history. Only started coaching two years ago. But it is his blood so makes sense. Any decent amount of success means he’ll be in line for a head coaching job in the next couple seasons.
Held a clipboard on the sidelines with McVay and O’Donnell. And he’s a natural. Sounds like a promising trajectory.
Hot damn, congratulations! Wow he’s 33 now? These kids grow up so fast…
Pretty brave, they won’t be patient!
Congratulations!
Good gals 32-30 at halftime over a scrappy SD team. Villa scoreless at half. I’m sure Rueck will work to get here going in the 3rd quarter.
Never happened. Wild to see her with zero and KS with, what, 24+?
It was a surprise but they blanketed Villa and KS goes off. It’s a pick your poison option
Good gals 61-43 for the win. Kennedie Shuler gets 24, Bolden 14 and Villa ,0.
Lady Glove with some recognition! I missed this:
“Kennedie Shuler of Oregon State was named a U.S. Basketball Writers Association Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week on Tuesday. Shuler, who was also the West Coast Conference Player of the Week, nearly recorded a triple double in leading Oregon State to a 92-87 overtime victory over Gonzaga.”
She leads OSU this season in steals and blocked shots…for a 5’10” guard that’s pretty impressive to lead the team in blocked shots.
Anybody know what this “Rev” thing is?
Guessing it’s Scott Barnes new NIL scam…..er program.

So the Timbers are moving from 750 The Game to KRSK 105.1 FM. Canzano’s show just left radio. Anyone know if they are ditching sports altogether?
I’m surprised we still get 700 comments in a month given how bad we are at everything? Just shows the power of AB!
PS. Speaking of Rev, how often is he mentioned in the Epstein Files? ;)
Yo Angry, whenI try to get on the site via my iPhone, I get an error message that says the Request Header is too large. Any ideas???
It is a fairly new phone and no other problems. I’m heading down to Surprise and would like to post some thoughts on the team.
Hope all is well in Fort Collins!

WTF has happened to the womens gymnastics team???
I thought they were bulletproof!
Opened the year ranked 17th, currently down to 25th between Maryland and S. Utah. So not even in the top-third of those schools that have the sports. Used to be consistently top 10, top 15. I have to think the break-up of the Pac-12 has a lot to do with it. It used to be Utah, UCLA and OSU. But the other two schools are 15th and 5th nationally right now. Stanford is 9th. DENVER is 18th, BYU is 23rd and Cal is 20th.
I would have figured having Jade Carey would have boosted the program. Not sure how much NIL is impacting things, the demise of the Pac-12 Network probably doesn’t help either. But I think Carey’s tenure just covered up the apparent slide of the program.
Oregon State athletics claimed an operating surplus for a second straight year, but with more than $15 million less revenue.
OSU reported total revenues of $104,767,707 and expenses of $100,306,455 for fiscal year 2025, according to its annual filing to the NCAA.
The school’s $4.46 million surplus in its first year in the depleted Pac-12 and WCC is down from $7.43 million in 2024. Its revenues are down from $120,312,417 and expenses from $112,883,911 in fiscal year 2024.
While Oregon State reported significant increases in revenue from direct state or other government support and direct institutional support compared to 2024, its revenue from media rights dropped from $34,050,500 while in the old Pac-12 to just $3,015,108.
…
By comparison, the University of Oregon had a surplus of $2.7 million in its first year in the Big Ten. UO produced $185,420,904 in revenue and $182,702,378 in expenses.
OSU football revenue dropped from $49,178,636 to $31,096,301 due almost entirely to a total loss of media rights revenue from over $21 million in 2024. The program’s net profit dropped from $23.2 million to $7.25 million.
The men’s basketball program saw a big increase in revenue thanks to nearly $7 million in conference distribution and ended with a profit of $3.79 million compared to a loss of more than $722,000 in 2024.
Baseball revenues increased to $4.52 million from $2.84 million, but also had greater expenses ($5.895 million from $4.64 million)
https://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/2026/01/oregon-state-athletics-reports-surplus-for-2nd-straight-year-despite-revenue-decline-of-more-than-15-million.html
Also:
“The report lists Oregon State with over $929 million in institutional debt, with $103.8 million in athletics.
Athletics endowments increased from $22.96 million in 2024 to $31.63 million last year.”
That endowment number caught my eye, 38% increase?
So you’re saying were well endowed?
Good gals whip SF by 22. Did it with Shuler sitting for the entire 2nd qtr due to 2 fouls.
Just left Gill and great game for the good gals. At Goss right now watching the baseball scrimmage.
I watched a few innings of the scrimmage and both teams had a combined ,5 hits and zero runs. Queen pitched for one squad and Kleinschmidt for the other team.. Pitching looked solid but whoever played SS for one of the teams booted two ground balls so that doesn’t look good.
I think this team is going to struggle putting runs on the board nuts it’s way too early to know for sure. Like I said, I only watched a few innings so.
Consider the pitching the batters are facing. Probably the best they’ll see all year.
I did that exact thing as I exited Goss
They talked about how they’ll great pitching this year, small ball, bunting, steals….no mention of defense.
MBB down by 10 with about a minute and a half left, had an amazing comeback to tie it up, force OT and win by 2 points in OT vs SD. Beavs making a run for the CBI Tourney. Lol
Give Stinkle an extension stat!
Speaking of espn +, is there anyway to know
in advance that they’ll be making the game available
For replay later? I got rid of cable and the dvr so my sportsball watching habits are going through a difficult adjustment.
If you have a subscription to ESPN+, you can watch it On Demand.
It’s the foxone deal with espn added on. It seems to include everything on espn+. I just open the espn app on my tv and search oregon state after the game. Sometimes they’re available, sometimes they’re not. Maybe I’m going to the wrong place on the screen.
If Kennedie Shuler continues at her current level of play in the regular season, she could very well be the conference POTY. There is not another player in the conference dominated on both sides of the ball as Kennedie.
She is 5’10”, is tied for the team lead in blocked shots, leads the team in steals and is near the top in rebounding, third in scoring and just dictates the tempo of the game offensively and defensively too.
And, BTW, she has dramatically improved her FT shooting over the last 5-6 games. By the time she’s done at OSU, she could very well be the best PG Rueck has ever coached and that has ever played PG at OSU period.
If you haven’t seen her play, you’re missing out on quite a talented player.
Lady Glove.
Playing D, filling up the stat sheet.
Works.
Here’s a no-paywall piece from the zero headed: “Oregon State’s Kennedie Shuler has gone from survival mode to defensive dominance”
https://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/2026/02/oregon-states-kennedie-shuler-has-gone-from-survival-mode-to-defensive-dominance.html
Sydney Wiese, Mikayla Pivec, Aleah Goodman, Donovan Hunter…….
In the words of the great philosopher, George Costanza… I’m back baby!
Or in the words of the great Cosmo Kramer, “I’m out!”.
So the MWC releases their media deal that includes pretty much every media partner that the New PAC has been floating or promising. Is this another Barnes Special? The PAC has been outplayed in a lot of ways over the last 2 years and it just continues.
I’ll be interested in how Barnes tries to spin it from here.
Jack will yawn and others will agree with my thoughts.
We don’t know anything about money so that is the big thing.
Aside from that the MWC deal is worse on every other measurable front. Less games, less premium coverage. Not sure what you were expecting.
I’ll yawn because only football–and not as much–is on their broadcast agreement. No hoops or other sports. That’s not us being outplayed. Our women’s hoops is more valuable to those broadcast partners than more MWC football is.
Just a silly take.
And the P12E will likely be producing a lot of their content, which is just more money for us.
People forget that we have a premier production company wholly owned by the Pac. Expect it to grow and be a major factor in the future. I’m no Pollyanna here, but the Debbie downers have gone off the deep end and are producing stale content daily.
I’ll gladly admit I know none of the I sides details or have any idea of the breadth of coverage between the 2 conferences. I just figure if the MEC is making the announcement it is probably bad news for the PAC. Probably more reflexive than anything…
Appreciate the context from the AB group.
Beavs Baseball Ranked #12 in preseason coaches poll
Only other ranked schools west of the rockies are:
#2 UCLA
#23 Uncle Phil
#24 Arizona
Future Pac 12 member Dallas Baptist in others receiving votes
I hope they can hit bc the scrimmage I watched, only 5 total hits after 4 or so in ngs and no runs. Queen and Kleinschmidt were pitching so that’s probably a big part of the lack of offense in the scrimmage.
I posted comments about Shuler two days ago as a strong conference POTY and The Big Zero posts an article today about Shuler POTY in the WCC. I think this is another example of the Zero reads AB.
““When I bought into this program, I was serious about it,” Shuler said. “I really appreciated the people I was going to be around, my coaching staff, my teammates. I knew I was always going to be surrounded by good people. Why not pour back into that and trust in what I started?
“It means a lot to be able to continue to put Oregon State women’s basketball on the map and represent Oregon to the best of my ability, which is something I’m going to strive to continue to do from here on out.”
What a character.
She is a winner, period.

5 JUCO players have officially signed today. I hope there are several more.
https://x.com/i/status/2019218233602261403
If court rulings keep going juco players way, this is essentially their freshman year.
Chisolm, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound defensive back, had 40 tackles and one interception last season. He chose OSU over West Virginia and has three years of eligibility remaining.
Chisolm began his career at Sacramento State in 2023, when he had one tackle in five games while redshirting. He had two tackles in two games in 2024 and was sidelined due to injury.
The 6-foot-3, 230-pound Onyiego was a three-star prospect in the class of 2024. He signed with Wyoming but did not play as a freshman and transferred to Navarro College, where he also did not play.
OSU MBB overcome 17 point second half deficit to beat WSU 74-64 and now 13-12 on the season. Maybe Stinkle is trying to pull off another late season miracle like he did in 2020-21when they were 11-11 and then went on a late season surge to reach the NCAA tournament and the Elite 8..
Can we then let him be poached?
I don’t want to go through 2021-2023 again.
Man, I’d hate to be the team that plays Gonzaga next after they lost to Portland………whoops. It’s the Beavs. :( Good win last night though.
Man, I’d hate to be the team that plays the Beavs next after they overcame an 18 point deficit to defeat WSU………whoops. It’s Gonzaga.
*17.
Maybe WBB can give them some pointers on persistence and defeating a Gonzaga team…
This didn’t age well.
Here’s a new one. A former UCLA MBB player who was drafted into the NBA and actually played in 10 NBA games is attmepting to make the leap from the pros….back to college…
The NCAA says no way, but the NCAA teams are still trying to recruit him and this will end up in court as college sports continue to become a circus sideshow.
Can’t wait for Lebron to retire and then spend 4 years playing for the ducks. But why stop at 4? Might as well challenge that rule too.
https://x.com/i/status/2019567756342149278
GP2 still has a year or two left right since he played at a junior college?
Pregame Rueck points out that how the game is called will be a big factor tonight. “We’ve got to be allowed to be physical”
Zags crowd (over 5k) gonna go crazy if he gets “T”d.
T on Scott halfway through the 2nd qtr, actually not as loud as expected.
Zags up 12, Beavs lead TO’s 9-1…ugh
Yeah, and “New Pac12’s” crush Shuler has 5 of them. Sheesh…..raving about her being a stong contender for conference player of the year. Talk about premature….
She’s had one bad game. Go smell your own beaver you big pussy!
2 points on 1 of 5 shooting, 1 assist and 6 turnovers. That’s POY potential there. Dude, she’s not close to being the best point guard in the league. She shoots less than 10% from beyond the arc, let alone has no effective shot outside 12 feet. I would agree with you that her game has significantly improved in all facets (except outside shooting), but unless she somehow develops some semblance of an outside game (unlikely in the next 15 months if it hasn’t happened yet), this is about as good as its going to get with her. And she won’t be the best PG in OSU history. In a thread above, I mentioned 4 that she’ll never surpass for that honor: Sydney Wiese, Aleah Goodman, Mikayla Pivec and Donovan Hunter. And I will even throw in a 5th: Destiny Slocum, who ran the point about 35% of the time.
Wbb getting slobber knockered at Gonzaga 50-27 3rd Quarter and ,0-10 from 3 point range. 12 turnovers….this is probably the worst game they’ve played since early last year.
56-30 start of 4th. Beavers look completely clueless and shooting about 28% with good looks big can’t throw the ball in the ocean tonight. All starters pulled in the third quarter and have not returned.
67-37 final. Ugly ugly game.
Questions for all:
Do players that enter the transfer portal always leave their team?
Is it up to the teams if they take back a guy that doesn’t get picked up?
Or, more specifically, would we as fans feel inclined to see someone that “tested the free agency” come back?
Would we rather see every player from last year’s squad gone?
I know a bunch of our guys found some pretty good homes but I don’t think they all have.
Who would we want to keep?
I’m trying not to be apathetic by asking, I guess. Oh, and how come every win in MBB feel like a Pyrrhic victory?
Sucks to see that our lady Beavs had a rough go of things tonight, any team can have a bad night.
At least we still have baseball!
99% leave and don’t come back. It’s the same as quitting a job. They lose their scholarship when they enter the portal. Some end up homeless (meaning they don’t play anymore, they still might go to college somewhere else).
Only players who can help the team win get support if they come back.
The “LA Bowl”, which would have been one of the more likely bowls to include Pac12 teams going forward, is calling it quits.
They realized nobody (players/coaches/fans) cares about bowl games anymore.
https://x.com/LABowlGame/status/2019522943789703189
It will be interesting to see hwo many more follow suit, until ESPN steps in to convince some to continue.
Shame, that was a fun stadium to visit. Would be nice if the new PAC12 got bowls in cities with NFL stadiums. Vegas stadium was another good visit. New Hawaii bowl would be good if they ever build the replacement stadium out there.
Have the pac-12 title game at Sofi?
SDSU has a pretty nice set up with Snapdragon Stadium, right? I mean, you hope they don’t get a home game too often, but it’s probably big enough. Sort of a “Holiday Bowl” replacement approach….
SDSU has a pretty nice set up with Snapdragon Stadium, right? It’s another home if they’re in the running for the conference championship, but it’s probably big enough. Sort of a “Holiday Bowl” replacement approach….things for fans and families to do in SD….
Does anyone here think the hire of McIntyre is just a holding spot for him after DS bolts after 2-3 years and McIntyre replaced him? It makes sense given that McIntyre has HC experience and probably can be had at a reasonable price?
Nonsense.
Nonsense.
It’s only nonsense if you don’t plan ahead as we all know JS will move to another opportunity if he has success at OSU. That is a fact so building a program from within saves time, money and reduces the risk of another mass exodus as we have seen. McIntyre has HC experience and rebuilt Colorado’s defense and had some limited success in the process.
JS and MM have never previously worked together so that makes his hire an interesting decision. You know that JS plans ahead for his future and bringing in a guy with HC experience is not all that unusual but bringing in someone you’ve never worked with is.
Try to watch video of Joel Foxwell, Portland Pilots’s point guard. in their game against the zags (literally) bewildered defense.
https://www.on3.com/nil/news/penn-state-reports-nearly-535-million-athletics-related-debt-2025-beaver-stadium/
Shuler having a solid first half with 10 points, 2 blocked shots, a few rebounds and a couple of assists. Overall poor shooting by both teams but beavers lead 22-16 over pilots.
20 minutes
Shuler 16 points 7 rebounds, 2 BS 36-34 Beavs start of 4th quarter.. being in Sow for Williamso now.
Good Gals outscored by 9 in the second half, go down 50-53.
Minor point: the bigs remind me of Marie Gulich early in her career, slow to run the court and a touch of stone hands. Scott helped her turn those aspects completely around over her time at OSU; nowadays there may not be time for that sort of improvement. JMHO
Williamson is so slow defending and doesn’t move her feet and she doesn’t hit the boards hard enough. Sow is a much better rebounder but very limited offensively.
Shuler another great performance with 23 points, 7 rebounds, 2 BS, 1 steal but only two assists.
Villa’s shooting the last 2-3 games has gone cold and Bolden isn’t really playing as aggressive as she needs to and Schiimel is struggling too. Only one player is very producing and that is Shuler.
Announcers pre-game mentioned Shuler is the only player in the country to average double figures in scoring, have at least 1+ blocked shot per games, over 5 rebounds per game and averaging a certain number of assists per game not to mention steals too. Shuler is pretty much doing everything for the beavers but others need to step up their game to support her.
Your love affair with Shuler can’t be more obvious. Look at the tape. Portland concentrated on shutting down Villa and Bolden and were willing to give up open shots outside to Shuler knowing that her strength is inside the key. She responded with 1-3 from 3 point range and taking just a couple of the wide open 15-17 footers available. She also threw up some atypical wild shots. Going 2-7 from the free throw line was a killer, especially the two that she missed badly with a minute left. Portland’s defense confused her, and she did not run the offense smoothly, all too often resulting in a player taking a low percentage shot in order to beat the clock.
Pro sport, pro prices…Duck football tickets and required contributions increasing:
“Oregon football season-ticket holders will see a significant price increase heading into the 2026 season, leading some Duck fans to consider whether renewing their seats at Autzen Stadium is financially feasible going forward.
Tickets are up an average of 15.33% over last year in total cost across the various price points, according to data shared with The Oregonian/OregonLive. That includes an average ticket face value increase of 14.64% and a 24.03% boost in required contributions to the Duck Athletic Fund.
For some, this means hundreds or even thousands of dollars more per year to keep their seats — some of which have been held for decades.
In response to The Oregonian/OregonLive’s inquiry, a spokesperson for the athletic department said the decision to increase prices helps ensure Oregon’s long-term financial stability as it navigates the revenue sharing era in college sports.”
Why doesn’t Uncle Phil just cough up an extra 10 mil per year? Come on Phil, you wanted this when you bombed the PAC 12, right? Bad time to turn into a cheap bastard, Phildo!
The Seahawks could be the next KC Chiefs for the next 3-4 years. The defense is that good.
Not likely with ownership in flux. Jody Allen has stated her intent to sell the team
Let’s go SEAHAWKS!
North Dakota State will make the jump to FBS and join the MWC conference for.the 2026 season in football only
Good for them. I expect them to dominate that conference within a couple years, if not sooner.
Tbf, I’ve been a NDSU fan since the days of Jeff Bentrim.
Kraft will need a massage with a happy ending after seeing his patriots her bush whacked by the Seahawks. What an epic beat down! Seaha is Super Bowl Champs and it wasn’t even competitive!
Huh?
I made some typos but you don’t remember that kraft has an affinity for massage parlors and happy endings?
Yes Kraft got handys from a hired lady and he felt he had a genuine connection with her is the funny part.
Well, they were connected for likely a few minutes…
So pathetic. That much wealth and needs that as a solution.
It was funny when the camera panned to Kraft and he gave a big yawn as his team’s offense was getting stomped.
“Florida State is now the epicenter for the fight of a lifetime waged by every athletic department in college sports: Pay players, or pay debt service?
Both outlays come from the same pool of cash, and each relies on the other. When winning, booster money flows freely for private NIL deals and big-ticket facility upgrades
When losing, money dries up and debt piles up ? to the latest tune of $437 million at Florida State.
“Florida State football stands at a defining moment,” FSU athletic director Mike Alford wrote in an open letter to boosters.
So does FSU coach Mike Norvell.
That’s why the Noles will spend nearly $46 million to buy out Norvell if his two-year regression reaches three after the 2026 season. Or in the middle of it.
The headline in Sportico that FSU is $473 million in debt forgot to explain that $403 million of that is debt service.
FSU committed $265 million to renovate the stadium, eliminating 13,000 seats to add Founders Suites and Founders Loge Boxes — the high-dollar, revenue-driving club seating. The dang thing will pay for itself, they thought.
Then Norvell badly missed in the 2024 transfer portal, and FSU sustained its worst season since 1974. Then he missed again in 2025, and FSU wasn’t much better. ”
….
But don’t be shocked if FSU pulls the plug on Norvell, eats the $46 million and pays another $50-plus million to hire, say, Charlie Weis Jr., and staff, to start over. ”
https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2026/02/10/fsu-athletics-debt-more-about-winning-losing-than-mismanagement-mike-norvell-buyout/88597842007/?tbref=hp
Ha ha! The cost of BIRGing is going way up!
“The headline in Sportico that FSU is $473 million in debt forgot to explain that $403 million of that is debt service.”
That sentence doesn’t make sense. One is a point in time measure and one covers a (in this case unspecified) period of time.
I read that osu is asking student fees to go up $25 to help cover costs for athletics. Sounds like the student body president is saying no.
Shit. All we have to do at this point is hire people in our budget, have successful seasons, make profits if possible and one day get the Pac-12 back to at least PAC-10 might be the best play while other schools bankrupt themselves with players and coaches. I don’t know why supposed academic institutions don’t have a business/economics program that can tell the powers that be what they’re doing is unsustainable.
If we don’t have success going forward, then at least we can fold with dignity and without impossible debt. Sucks to say it, but OSU has 4 years of potential relevancy left before the big shift of 2030.
Baseball has added an additional regular season game vs Oregon on April 14 in Hillsboro
Tickets handled by the Hops, go on sale Saturday at 10am
https://osubeavers.com/news/2026/2/10/baseball-oregon-state-to-square-off-with-oregon-in-hillsboro-april-14
Saw Kreig at the new hitting facility today. He was ripping it.
Nice, would be a good excuse to check out the new Hops ballpark
Get pickled…
Pretty different experiences. Pickle are fun but level of play is much lower. I do like the picnic tables in the outfield.
My kids like the Hops games because their cousin used to pitch there and they grew up getting signed baseballs from the players and getting to run the bases.
Those kind of games can be fun. Last summer watched the Bend Elk @ Walla Walla Sweets in Walla Walla with friends. Surprisingly fun. Missed the Corvallis Knights @ WW Sweets, could have seen some OSU players.
Watched the pickles play the Marionberries last year and the Berries swept the pickles at home. As I recall, the beavers had 2-3 players on the Berrie’s roster.
The quality of pitching and fielding was quite good although the venue needs to move to Willamette U. where the Berries were originally scheduled to play but Willamette was putting in a new field turf and there was a contract issue between the two parties.
Anyway, the quality of baseball was much better than I expected but with a few OSU players on the team, that wasn’t a surprise.
The negative for me with the Pickles is the sophomoric marketing. Way too much penis innuendo for me. I get it, they think it’s edgy and funny, but extremely creepy when kids are one of your biggest demographics.
https://www.whiskeyriff.com/2025/09/16/the-portland-pickles-go-viral-for-nsfw-take-on-viral-fit-in-my-banner-trend/
That’s a bit weird and just not that funny…
I get the kids aspect, but it is a bit funny that NB is the one complaining about a double entendre.
FOOTBALL SCHEDULE has been posted. Included is a “flex road game” on November 28.
At this point there are no home-n-home games set, but watch out for that “flex”!
Tip o the oob Erickson Lid to wannabeav for the alert.
https://osubeavers.com/news/2026/2/11/2026-oregon-state-football-schedule-announced
ADDED: Per the zero, The Pacific Northwest rivals (OSU-WSU) are also currently projected to play in Pullman to end the regular season as the nonconference “flex” game.
Flex games look to maybe be about minimizing travel(?).
Conference championship game at home of highest seed.
Must be a way to add an extra home game since most teams will be playing 2 non-con road games per season. Maximize that ticket revenue
Well, the O is wrong… sort of.
The Conference will try to keep teams from traveling to an away location for a second time that last week. But if OSU and Wazzu are the top two seeds going into that week, we would go somewhere else, to avoid the possibility that we play for a third time in the CCG.
So the match-ups can minimize travel, but the seedings will determine who goes where. Two one or two loss teams won’t meet until the CCG, if they’re out there. We have to retain any rankings those teams have and optimize the chances they play each other to boost the winner’s final ranking, in order to get someone into the CFP.
I like the Flex. Innovative. Always thought it would be a good idea for the P4 teams to do during conference championship weekend to maybe get one more team in.
I read in the Athletic the Flex game is for the purpose of arranging games at the top to help qualify through strength of schedule the Pac-12’s bid for the College Football Playoff. So if OSU was undefeated up to the Flex game but WSU only had 2 wins then they would change the opponent for OSU to the #2 team in wins for the flex game to improve the SOC for each team. Thus helping playoff bid or better bowl game.
Wrong. No way they would want to create a matchup that could potentially happen again the following week in the conference title game.
They are saying in the article it is the approach the Big10 took in 2020 because of the pandemic. It could help a team needing a 6th win get into a bowl. The two teams playing for a Championship would have already been set for the Championship game so I assume those two team don’t play on the Flex, but not clear.
It’s not innovative, it’s silly and amateurish
I don’t think there’s much of anything that can make you happy, so…
Play 7 conference games and 5 real non-conference games like 8 team conferences have done for decades.
Pretty simple actually.
Former Louisville and Purdue defensive coordinator Mark Hagen is joining the Beavers as defensive line coach.
Former Louisville and Purdue defensive coordinator Mark Hagen is joining the Beavers as defensive line coach.”
Hagen served as Louisville’s co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach for the past three years, with prior stops at Purdue, Texas, Indiana, Texas A&M and Northern Illinois. ”
Meant to post that, sorry for double post.
Really curious about Hagen. CO-DC of a top 25 defense? Figured he’d find someplace in P4 already, seems to be an upgrade from Brecketerfield. I do like the breadth of experience of the staff Shepherd has put together. People with a lot of varying experiences from different conferences.
Former Beavers defensive line coach Joe Seumalo, who was OSU from 2006-14, is returning to Corvallis to coach defensive tackles.
An analyst at Pitt last season, Seumalo coached the defensive line at Arizona in 2024, following Brent Brennan from San Jose State, where he served in the same role from 2017-23. Seumalo also worked at Arizona State (2016) and UNLV (2015) after his prior stint at OSU.
During his nine years at Oregon State, Seumalo was rated one of the top recruiters in the Pac-12 by Rivals.com.
Among the players Seumalo coached at OSU were consensus All-American defensive tackle Stephen Paea, all-Pac-12 defensive end Scott Crichton and defensive tackle Dylan Wynn, as well as NFL draft picks Victor Butler (2009 fourth round, Dallas Cowboys), Slade Norris (2009 fourth round, Oakland Raiders), Paea (2011 second round, Chicago Bears), Gabe Miller (2011 fifth round, Kansas City Chiefs) and Obum Gwacham (2015 sixth round, Seattle Seahawks).
Is it weird to have both a a DLine coach & a DTackles coach?
Coach-title bingo!
Yup, “Mark Hagen Named Defensive Line Coach/Defensive Run Game Coordinator’
At courtside and the good gals up at halftime 48-32. Shuler sat for much of quarter 2 with 2 fouls but still had a productive first half. Lizzy W is having a nice game and.Volla too. Alonzo had a productive half with two traditional 3 point plays down low.
Epic collapse in the 2nd half as Beavs down by 5 4:27 left.
Lulling them into a false sense of sexcuroty, a Beaver trap…
*security….that was an interesting typo…new term?
Beavs lose 83-70 after leading by 16 at half.
What language is Tinkle speaking in the locker room or is it all grease boards and video clips? Love the geographical reach of the roster. Is this like what Santa Clara would always do to find talent?
Oregon State Men’s basketball with a huge win on the road. Could they make another WCC tourney run?
I hate to say it, but with Tinkle reversing his road woes. He is rectifying my biggest gripe against him. I hate to say it, but the last couple years it seems like he is beginning to figure out how to navigate this new era of college sports. Looking at their schedule remaining, they SHOULD be able to win 3 out of 4 and maybe steal one from Santa Clara. They get a top 4 seed and I see no reason they can’t win 3 games in a row to get an NCAA bid. Tinkle should be scraping together every dollar he can to keep Josiah Lake II on the team for next year.
I haven’t watched much MBB lately but when I did it always seemed like Tinkle was good at everything except actual in game coaching and player development. Seems like he has done a pretty good job bringing in international talent in the NIL era from what I hear.

Michigan player literally tries to steal second base. Gets called out and pops up with the base in his hand and carried it around for a minute or two!
Passed ball costs the Beavs 2 runs with two out runners on 2nd and 3rd and a single plates 2 runs. 3-3 6th inning.
Beavs load the bases on b6 with one out and can’t move the runners and leave 3 stranded. T7 3-3.
At the game. We look like doodoo. Pitching isn’t great and offense might only have 2 guys that can get it out of the infield. Michigan isn’t bad but we’re looking like an average team at best right now.
Yeah, I saw them in a scrimmage a few weeks ago and commented here that they will be challenged to score runs. Fist game of the year but not off to a great start. When does football season start? Lol
Also at the ballpark. Mitch refuses to play small ball even when he has no thumpers.
Bullpen looks like they don’t have a scouting report on the Michigan right-fielder. Dude has 2- 2 run rbi singles both with 2 outs.
Dorman still questionable. Mitch still stubborn. OSU will falter this year without the previous talent to carry them. Pitching looks decent but u focused and hitting is sub-par.
I figured a lot of 3-1 wins, but this team looks like a lot of future 5-2 losses to me.
This would be the first loss ever to M baseball, correct?
That, i dont know. They’ve looked like the better team than us thats for sure.
B9th, Beavers 2-4 coming up!
Miiiiitch! Riiiich!
Beavs fall 5-3, heralded staff gives up 10 hits, 5 runs
Where’s angry?
Wow! That sucks.
Olive headline is something like “OSU bullpen meltdown hands Michigan first ever win over Beavers.”

Aww…condolences to Trent and family. 74 is not THAT old…
U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt of Missouri unveiled a blueprint to “fix” college athletics on Friday, and called out Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar and former Alabama men’s basketball forward Charles Bediako in the process.
The blueprint includes four pillars:
Secure Stability
Putting Players First
Saving Olympic and Women’s Sports
Ensuring College Sports Endure.
“We’ve also seen pro athletes try to jump back into college sports in the absence of eligibility rules. College sports are meant to be a limited-time, educational opportunity for amateur athletes. Allowing pros to participate will end college sports,” Schmitt continued on X.”
But college sports aren’t “amateur” anymore?!?
AND, nothing forces teams to take on and pay a player who comes back…it’s a lack if self/institutional discipline…the ol’ “lack of institutional control!”
Are we in for another year of “its Ritch Dorman’s best group” and then put up mediocre results? Wasn’t much impressed with the bullpen today. Got 4 guys and a whole bunch of who the hell knows.
Wasnt impressed much with the portal guys on defense or at the plate. The transfer catcher has a noodle arm. Center fielder threw home with no chance to get the guy at home and allowed runner to advance bases. Stupid decision. We’ve got Kreig and our 3rd string catcher who look like real adults while the rest of the squad might not be tall enough to go on half the rides at Disneyland. Honestly, wasn’t too many positives to take from that game. If teams can keep it close with Dax and Klieney, there might not be a whole hell of a lot to be scared of after the top 4 dudes.
I really don’t think Rich or Mitch convey the type of competitive intensity it requires to demand the exactness and fundamental execution of winning baseball.
Another year and I immediately realize how good Casey was.
I am baffled when everyone can see the obvious drop in hitting talent across the line-up but apparently the strategy is to wait for a home run to bail again.
I was expecting Singer, Talt, Haynes, Galloway, et al, to drag bunt, steal bases, create pressure on the UM pitchers, hit & run, at some point, but it never happened in a 1 run game for 9 innings.
UM first baseman was never prepared to field a bunt.
Singer was up with the bases loaded and 1 out, tied in the 6th or 7th, and UM infielders were back early in the count. Why not safety squeeze? Why not force the issue?
We are almost a decade since Casey and I still can’t get used to the analytics/launch angle version of Mitch & crew. No killer instinct. Absolutely zero feel for the game.
If these guys aren’t going to hit homers, then how do you plan to score runs? Do we have contact hitters, slap singles, line drive gap hitters, at bat grinders? Honestly couldn’t tell today. But it was not an aggressive approach, and that is disappointing.
I’ll predict the Beavs will get to 30 wins max and I expect a few less than that tbh.
The Omaha run was great but not the program defining trip we thought. Mitch is in the process of driving OSU Baseball into the ditch. I think this year will be the beginning of the slide we have been fearing.
Another sad chapter in the annals of OSU sports.
Yeah, didnt see much with causing havoc on the basepaths or whatever. All the pre-season talking heads saying its a return to small ball, etc and we definitely didnt see that. The score was the only thing that was indicative of small ball but thats cause we couldn’t do anything at the plate or take advantage of the guys we did have on base. We also continued to struggle against anything not a fastball. Been a constant problem for us with MC. If it’s not a 94 mph ball over the plate, we can’t do anything with it.
Wow, we play one game and some on this site are already melting down. It is a long season and nobody goes undefeated. This is game one, still working on line ups and the bullpen with lots of new players. Chill out. Wait 10-15 games to see what we are.
Sure, it was 1 game. I was there and watched it. Pitchers were all over the place. Need stretch Armstrong behind the plate. At bats weren’t quality by a good portion of the lineup. Its funny when people use the “its game 1” excuse. The other team looked much more polished than we did in game 1 so its possible to do. There’s unfortunately a clear drop-off in talent and what we brought in looked like backups than starters. Need a much better showing in game 2. These first 2 weeks are filled with quality teams and playing like we did yesterday will put up more L’s than wins.
Your perspective is consistent with where OSU and Barnes have landed. It is a common perspective, no doubt, and reinforced by the built-in apathy of the entire administration and athletic department.
How many years did we see a Riley team implode on game 1 and those same voices said, “you can’t win em all,” “it’s just game 1”, “lots of season left”, “need to find an identity” blah blah blah.
If you are good enough to make a run to Omaha, you better be good enough as a staff to figure out that you just lost 80% of your offensive productivity and actually have a strategy that competes in reality.
I’d say local media was at least making a realistic evaluation of what might be the offensive approach, but Mitch may not be interested in small ball.
Details, and little mistakes in game 1 could be mistakes that can be fixed, or they could be long term bad habits showing up early. If Beaver fans think the effort and approach yesterday is a winning strategy for this coaching staff, then we have crossed the Rubicon of mediocrity even in our Crown Jewel sport. Anyone who watched the game yesterday who was around when Casey was here, would be disturbed by what they saw. I am. I have zero expectation that Mitch wants to adjust to a small ball approach after yesterday. He may have guys in his ear about it, but I’m no longer expecting it this year. Mitch had at lkeast 4 opportunities to force the issue with aggressiveness on the base-paths and elected to just sit back and let guys swing away. He is lost in some VR world of his own making where his line-up is full of mashers who can go yard on any pitch. It is not reality and they still can’t hit off speed stuff in critical situations. No more ranting from me. The die is cast.
Once again, I can’t read beyond the first paragraph. The admin and AD who worked tirelessly over the past two years to rebuild the PAC and has been praised by former Pac12 athletes from schools who are no longer in the Pac12 for keeping the legacy that started in our state is not apathetic to athletics. It’s just a ridiculous idea.
Barnes was also instrumental in the formation of NIL structuring for FBS application, as were two former OSU ADs. it’s just a silly rant.
We’re almost out of limbo, and this conspiracy nuttery continues. Just amazing.
One caveat… Tinkle does need to go. So that is a legit rant.
Anyone else see that kid from Baylor hit 3 grand slams yesterday? Good lord. Pretty sure the Beavs play Baylor next weekend I think
What’s crazy too is that it’s happened before. 1957 I think.
Has anyone here sat in the Budweiser terrace at the Hops ballpark?
Never sat there. Looks like those tickets are only sold in blocks of 4. Overall I was surprise at the very limited available seating when I checked around 10:30am.
Same. Seems like they sold extremely fast this morning. Maybe season ticket holders got early access? Anyway, I pulled the trigger for 4 seats in the terrace. The photos look like a decent location.
Turns out if you have any package of Hops tix then you have early purchase rights for the college games.
Ah, that explains it.
Down 3-2 in the 6th after leading 2-0. As I said about two weeks ago, this team is going to struggle on offense. 3 hits so far.
More of the same today. Didn’t make their starting pitcher throw pitches when he had clear control issues. 3 hits thru 5 is ridiculous vs how the control of their starter was. This isn’t a top 12 team, maybe not even top 25. The drop-off is monumental. Said this yesterday, if you can hang around with Dax and Klein, once you get beyond them, its not good. Another year of bullshit about Dorman’s beat staff and they’re pretty garbage out of the gate.
Riiiich looks at 11 k’s and ignores 8 hits given up……so far.
Nice easy 6 pitch inning by the Cats. This offense is so fucking bad.
5-2 zona in the 7th
Couple hits miraculously strung together. Couple hit batters. Got this to a 1 run game.
Shuler has 30 and Beavs up 67-60 after trailer ng 33-22 at halftime
Beavs 6-5 t8.
7-5 T8 beavs
Good gals win 70-60 and Shuler from noshes with 31 points.
I’m not sure how autocorrect goes from finishes with 31 to from noshes with 31. Yikes
B to B walks t9 runners on 1st and 2nd 1 out and still 7-5.
Beavs hang on for a 7-6 win with runners on 1st and 2nd, 3-2 count and Roblez gets the strikeout. Nice way to comeback with the bats at pitching.
Did I see a glimpse of small ball on the basepaths?
The 2 hit batters helped, but Talt definitely made some things happen on the basepaths. Had some timely hits here and there. Still a lot to be desired offensively. There’s 0 deep threats. Krieg only guy that can go deep and he’s in the 7th spot. Not sure where the offense is going to come from. Hubbard and Talt only 2 that have been reliable so far.
Post game report:
Nice to actually see some real small ball, double steal, bunting runner over, sac fly, stealing second.
Much better strategy today than yesterday.
Still real concerns about the bullpen, maybe that works itself out over a few weeks.
Good to see the lie-up shuffled a bit to see where everyone fits best.
This needs to be a line-drive focused team, contact and speed rather than launch angles etc. Hopefully Mitch and the staff realize it and demand it from the team.
Great crowd presence by OSU, maybe 90% Beav fans, no idea what the stadium capacity is though.
Well, there were 5700 at Friday’s game and there were more there today. I got to the game an hour early and still took like 10 min to get in the stadium. There’s 3 entrances too. Had to be at least 6k there.
Offensively, we have to make pitchers work and go deep into counts. The AZ starter wasnt great with command, had a stretch of wild pitch, 4 ball straight balls for a walk, etc and we went first pitch swinging often and got behind the count. Lack of power means the outfield isn’t playing as deep. There were a few hits that could’ve been doubles for our teams in prior years since the D would be playing back further but not the case here. Too many starters with 0 hits or 1 hit and many of the at-bats havent been quality at all. I’d love to see Krieg do something. His 1 hit on Friday was a little knock over the 2 bag but otherwise he’s done nothing and hasn’t had any contact at all. I don’t think Adam Haight has even made contact with the ball in 2 games. Our CF got a hit late this game…was a full swing that knicked the ball and ended up being a good power bunt.
Game 3 should be something where we could put up some runs if we’re capable. Day 3 starter, should be deeper into the bullpen. If we can’t put together a better plate approach these next 2 games and feast against the lower tier pitching, have to really wonder where the offense will come from.
Update, 6,294 in attendance. Might have to open up the upper decks if we can continue to bring the fans.
Good guys 2-0, T4. Only two hits so far the beavs
Tied 2-2 and Stanford has 3 errors. Offense needs to wake up.
No shit!
Surprisingly, with Krieg’s 25 pounds of added muscle… his strikeouts are still going the same distance? WTH???
He needed time in the batting cage and not the weight room!
Krieg has always struggled at the plate. Man’s batting .100 right now. Not many bats on this team so far. Hubbard, Singer and Galloway seem to be the only guys that can actually do anything with the ball right now. It’s one thing to have lost all the power from prior years, but Holy shit, we can’t even hit the ball.
T7 2-2 and Beavs still have only 2 hits.
Proctor sac bunt attempt with 2 down?? Yup, musta missed a sign……lol
Well, we wanted small ball!!
I think it’s clear that we need to build a state of the art hitting facility to provide more resources for the team.
As U Nike demonstrates, facilities produce championships! How did Casey do it?!?
Death
Taxes
Jacob Krieg striking out with runners in scoring position!
Time to ride the pine and give someone else a shot.
Proctor with a very nice play making a long run to make a catch in left field.
PH for Hubbard with a guy who has only had one ab so far this season. Surprise, 3 pitch strike out.
2-2 B9 and only 3 hits. I guess that really is small ball. .lol
Tiny ball?
All we need is for Stanford to hit 4 of our batters in a row and we win
Proctor gets gw hit on b9, 3-2 good guys.
After that silly bunt Proctor makes a nice defensive play and then the walk off single. Progress ain’t a direct line.
Nice to get the dub. Gotta play much better at the plate.
So after destroying San Francisco on the road in one of their best games of the season, Big Tinks and the gang are laying an egg against Seattle. With about 14 minutes left, they trail 44-24, and Seattle’s best player is out with an injury. Can the Tinkle era just be over?
Tinkle has perfected the blind squirrel approach to his coaching legacy like no other coach thought possible. That San Francisco win is all he needs for the next 2 months to create the narrative of team growth, bright future and administrative patience that has translated into extensions in the past.
There will be a book written about Tinkle someday.
You should write it since you post about him so often and know everything about him
I mean he sucks and is draining the little resources OSU has.. what else is there to write?
Nothing, which is why someone trying to do so constantly is weird.
SF was missing Riley the player that would give us most problems and we shot the lights out – doesn’t mean much.
He also still isn’t even starting our best 5. Wild behavior not having diaz graham starting over soutella lol
I was thinking about this over the weekend. Next weekend will be 5 years from that elite 8 tourney run. And they havent even sniffed getting close to the tournament since.
And some are so tuned out they arent even paying attention anymore.
I have not watched one iota of the mens hoops team this year and dont plan to.
If Stinkle cant do any better than 5th in the WCC, how can anyone reasonably expect him to compete against better programs like Utah St, SDSU and Boise St.
Its more likely OSU goes back to being a bottom feeder in the new Pac.
When does Stinkle’s contract expire?
Mitch and the boys end the weekend winning 3 out of 4 with 2 walk off victories.
Good vibes for sure.
It looks like the big concerns have to be the bullpen giving up runs and the offense getting baserunners.
Happy to see some effort towards small ball, some great defense and relatively good starting pitching.
After Friday night’s deflating loss, it has been a nice bounce back by the team.
They are who we thought they were. Offense is tough to come by with pitching keeping them in the game (starting pitching that is).
Biggest surprise is who is struggling in the bullpen. Would have thought Edwards, Kmatz and Hutcheson would be the most effective guys out of the bullpen. Ready to take the big step forward, they clearly forgot they were supposed to.
Walks are back. 18 through 4 games. Offsetting a great K/9 rate and hits per 9.
Weather looks much better this year in round rock for the upcoming weekend. Last year was pretty cold and miserable.
Showed great fortitude with these 2 walk-off wins but 9th inning theatrics is not sustainable. Be nice to get some wins with a little cushion every now and again. Need a few more guys to be reliable in the lineup. Hubbard, Talt, Singer and Galloway are the 4 leaders, need a few more to get consistent. Is Proctor that guy? Inge? Without the pop we had last year, we need 6 or 7 guys in the lineup getting on base and making things happen. 4 guys batting above .250 ain’t gonna cut it.
Defense has been solid. The 2 errors have been committed by pitchers. Definitely need to get the walks under control. Giving up nearly 5 a game. Big test coming up in TX!
In case anyone reading this who also occasionally listens to the Kejo morning show, Jon Warren is leaving for a different media. He can’t talk abt what it is on Bi-coastal media. He gave a link to access his x and facebook accts which explain. I have neither. Anyone know?
Per Twitter:
“After 35 years behind the mic I’m retiring. Sort of! I’ll still work part time at the station. I am however still doing a morning show. It’s going to be ONLINE. The site is http://Midvalleyradio.com. Please join me, weekdays 6-9 am. Same personality, same news! We have an App.”
he’s the one that does the voice of the valley conservative talk show, or is that a different guy?
it’s on kejo 1240 joe beaver radio from 6 a.m.until 9 a.m.Sports: news clips. It also does the Joe Beaver show w Mike Parker on weekday afternoons. Doesn’t sound like what you are talking about at all.
Oh ok, one of the guys does double duty but I never remember which one
Same boring monotone voice. Darrel Aune, Parker, Vin Scully, Joe Davis.
Some of us have been spoiled by those that have perfected the craft of sports broadcasting. Jon has however done more than just sports radio play by play. He should be commended for his versatility in that rehard. But radio play by is.NOT his strong suit. Nothing personal and wish the best for Jon
As someone who lives in the area, its just nice to have a live and local radio show. I hope the JoeBeaver show continues. 620 is local only for Blazers stuff, Canzano left 750 and we don’t get The Fan down this way. There is a one hour show out of Eugene that’s mostly Duck stuff.
I mean if there is no Joe Beaver show, what will become of Dave from Tumwater?
Wonder if we’ll hear more of Josh Worden when Parker finishes with MBB
Isn’t Worden already climbing towards MLB opportunities?
Barnes has hired another consultant, these guys have expertise in “helping organizations navigate complex transitions and position themselves for long term success”
Well, with that said, they must be worth their fee, right??
https://clk.osubeavers.com/e/es?s=1151158&e=31547&elqTrackId=efd74c1a1b7a40299e524d6e5aa03bea&elq=8d603bd215e740788b6d5c9a6faddb72&elqaid=1435&elqat=1&elqak=8AF5D81C417D564CB34D49F01770D77070BC0D8E106562D3FEBC3C2F965AD0355CF6
So he hired someone else to do his job?
Awesome!
Consultants are the corporate equivalents of Payday Lenders. If you feel the need to use them, you are too far gone financially to escape the death spiral.
Schools and conferences use them all the time on a variety of projects.
???
Beavers baseball plays Baylor soon? Heard on sports radio today that a Baylor player hit three grand slams in one game recently. Haven’t had a chance to look it up yet. Amazingly, they said it has happened before in college baseball in the 70’s.
Whitney I said he looks forward to facing hitters and “ruining their year.” So, we’ll see soon if the rotation works out such that he’s pitching….
Whitney should be pitching, last outing was Feb 13, so a full week between games.
Baylor game is this Friday, 4pm pt.
The “old” Pac schools men’s basketball teams sure are taking the hit for the football money. With the exception of Arizona, some former decent basketball schools are floundering in their new leagues.
Yeah, it’s heart breaking especially for Oregon…..not so much. Canzano thinks that Altman might call it quits after this season as having to turnover the roster every year is a tough job. Even Oregon’s WBB program has taken a major dive. The price of selling out your conference and selling our your soul to ESPN and greed. Life in the fast lane…..
The ghost of bill Walton “Here, in the conference of champions…”
From Walton’s open letter:
“every argument made by these senior AD’s and why they like it, is about money,
these same proponents of moving to the Big 10, are the first people I have ever encountered in my life,
who have claimed economic hardship and limitations in Los Angeles,
and that the solution lies in the Midwest”
I remember when UCLA pushed the move to the Big 10, it was to ensure their non-revenue sports (where they tend to actually win championships) were able to compete at the top level. Maybe it still pencils out with football money, but it came at the cost of their stature as a national power. The Ducks have never made Knight Arena a formidable place to play. I could see Altman retire, or find a nice mid-major somewhere, where basketball is still the big dog on campus.
Beavs WBB down at halftime 27-26 to Portland. Shooting is horrible as Beavs shooting 32% and have missed at least 8 chippies.
Beavs on a 17-0 run in the 3rd quarter and lead 43-27 with 4:51 left in the 3rd.
Good gals beat Portland with a strong second half. Schedule is favorable for these last 3 games and they get LMU at home. Not sure theres a reasonable path to the WCC title but 2nd place isnt out of the question and favorable seeding for the WCC tourney.
Just avoid 4th should be the goal.
They will have to play a lot better offensively at home vs LMU of they expect to win. The beavers perimeter shooters, namely Villa and Schimel, are struggling and have been for the past 3-4 games.
Good gals win 64-54 as Bolden scores 29 but Portland is a scrappy team
Did you see me on the big screen?
That first half was rough and beavs answered with a dominant 3rd qtr but Portland was super aggressive throughout for sure.
Curious to see how they handle the wcc tourney and hopefully more. Different players keep stepping up beavs are a hell of a scrappy team themselves, if they can get everyone back on track they’ll be fine though.
Ethan Thompson getting some minutes with the Pacers.
A few guys still grinding away trying to make it to the NBA.
Stevie Jr is still hanging in the gleague with the Bucks team. Tres is playing in Turkey. Alatishe is in the g league too
BASEBALL starts in about an hour, yesterday Whitney was announced as the starter.
Anyone have experience with the D1 TV set up? $30 bucks for coverage of Round Rock and Frisco, looks like 6 Beav games over two weekends. I see that Casey is part of the broadcast from the Frisco tourney.
Pass along your thoughts if you give this setup a try.
https://www.rhstv.com/d1baseball
UPDATE: Start time delayed to 4:45, early game ran long.
I’m giving it a try today, on my phone and then threw an adapter to the TV. I’ll share out how it goes.
How’s that stream look?
Singer and Talt hitless so far, missed RBI opportunities in the t5
73 pitches for Dax, 13 k’s. Tied at zero going to the 6th
17 K’s for Dak tonight
96 pitches
B8 Beavs up 1-0
finished with 17ks over 7 innings. Just domination. Struck out the side in 4 innings. Had 9 K’s in a row at one point.
And now the bullpen blows his shot at a win
Dax with 17K’s and ties an OSU record. 7 shut out innings and got a big help by Easton Talt robbing Baylor of a bomb in 7th
Baylor pinch runs for their catcher, new guy will be behind the plate for the ninth……could be important.
Talt, after going 0-4 smacks a 2 RBI single, 3-1 Beavs
Beavs win 3-1.
I don’t think Armstrong, the three Grand Slam dude, had a hit. What a difference actual pitching makes!
Amazing performance for Dax! And just enough bats to get it done.
D1 streaming was good. They had multiple camera angle and decent announcing. The only glitch was whoever was running there strike and out counts was sniffing glue. I ended up going to the OSU live stats so I could actually know what the counsel were, LOL. But overall was good to watch.
Thanks for the report, glad it worked for you.
Fun fact! That home run robbery by Easton Talt? He also did it last year on February 28. Also in the 7th inning. Also in Texas. Also vs Baylor.
If only it had been the same batter and same ballpark
The “major fundraising announcement” Oregon State athletic director Scott Barnes referenced in a letter to fans last month was regarding a long planned facilities project.
OSU has been planning its Field Sports Building — which will be the new home for the Beavers men’s and women’s soccer, track and field, cross country and softball teams — for several years. Donations for the $25 million project have been secured and construction of the 15,000-square-foot facility, which will be located adjacent to Kelly Field, Whyte Track & Field Center and Lorenz Field, will begin in July.
Dax showing off a lot more durability this year. His weight is up to 218. He said before the year that he’d end his career here about 225-230. He came into school under 200 pounds. Fastball was still high 90s at the end of his outing. I think last year, his velo would drop into the low 90s at the end of his outings.
Pair with better command and pitch sequencing, he’s showing how dominant he can be.
Lady Beavs off to a great start vs WSU and lead 34-18 still in the 2nd quarter as Villa has hit 3 deep ones and has 14.
Villa now has 5 3s and the Beavs lead 58-41 about 4 minutes left in ,3rd quarter.
79-51 win for the Beavs WBB. A wire to wire victory.
Beavs home team today, Hubbard doesn’t start vs a lefty; Ryan VandenBrink starts as dh.
MBB down 10 at home to a 20-loss Pepperdine team with about 18 minutes to go.
Came back to win by 10
Yup, finally woke up and shot the ball extremely well the last 15 minutes of the game. That would have been the most embarrassing loss of the season.
Top of the order due up for Beavs b9, down 9-4.
Six Beav relievers have given up 5 runs over 3.2 innings.
Nothing from Singer and Talt today.
A win would have been good. Beavs don’t get many opportunities against teams from the SE of the country.
I was in Surprise, and am in Round Tock. I’m sorry to say, but we have quite a flawed team. This might be the worst offense/batting order I can remember. There is no bell cow hitter to build the team around and Mitch brought in some guys that are not offensive threats. Every game is going to be a struggle if the pitching is not perfect, because there is no room for error offensively. We are getting virtually nothing from three of the four infield positions and third base is weak defensively as well. A couple of my friends went to practice and said the kids were screwing around a lot and not focused. That’s on our head coach! Hope they can get a win today. For the life of me, I don’t know what the infatuation our pitching coach has with Hutchinson. The kid is not good and cannot be counted on to throw strikes. His ass should be sitting on the pine.
Does anyone ever bring up how sleepy Mitch seems? I know Angry has, but do any former players ever mention it? Or big donors? I get that he’s more reserved, but he also comes across as having almost no charisma. I’ve always wondered what Casey saw in him. The Mariners didn’t seem to make much effort to keep him after he won the MiLB title. From the outside, he doesn’t really seem to inspire the players, and it feels like that perception is starting to snowball in a bad way. That said, his loyalty to Dorman is his biggest wart.
Lots of fly outs and we’re down 5 to 2
12 outs left and down by 3. Third time around vs Purdue starter.
Not sure what they did in the fall in the new hitting facility, but sure doesn’t look they actually practiced hitting….
Just hit into a double play! Top of the eighth down 5 to 2 with three hits so far. Beavers offense is not good.
Nno way to spin this fellas. This team is not very good. The only bright spot of the first two weekends was Dax Friday night here and freshman Trey Morri, who arguably had the best start of any of the guys in Surprise and pitched well today.
Morris… too much bourbon
Team batting avg is .235. That’s incredibly bad. Only 2 guys above .300. Only getting 3 walks a game. I don’t have any clue on who can be that reliable output outside the top 3 guys. Haven’t seen anything from anyone outside Galloway, talt and Hubbard that generates any kind of excitement that they can be contributers. Haven’t been competitive at the plate at all. Time for a classic MC bowling party.
This is what beaver baseball is going to look like in the NIL era. it’s inevitable, money talks and we don’t have a seat at the big table. Our talent level is definitely dropping
Eh, we lost Trosky, Peterson and Santana to San Diego state. We’re in a better position than them. Not to mention, those 3 dudes would be 3 of our top 5 guys in batting avg. Losing caraway was tough, although he sucked offensively for about 90% of last season and he wasn’t special on defense.
Spot on, no surprise coming from you, Creek.
Only point with which I’d quibble: Caraway was much worse than “not special” on D.
Lol. He got better last year but holy hell, he was awful those first 2 years. Looks like he’s been better out of the gate this year offensively. Would’ve liked to have had him stay for sure. Galloway has been the only guy we’ve brought in from portal or whatever that’s done anything for us. I get money talks for the top tier talent, but our facilities are some of the best in the country for baseball, rich pedigree and program success should still be enough to get good talent in baseball.
I think the facilities, pedigree and program success are the only thing that has kept us from already falling off the cliff like the basketball and football program have. It’s a matter of time, unless the current NIL system gets reigned in
Eligibility and spending out of control, NCAA toothless, OSU appears to have no strategy for longer term viability.
Happened to drive by Husky stadium today, all their investments in that facility, and yet they seem so middle-off/the-road, nearly irrelevant in B10 football after an NC appearance a few years ago. QB NIL drama will hopefully may make them a shit show in the regular season just as it did in the off season…and UW gets what, half shares? So about $30M/year in football TV revenue? Or are they lower than that until they are later considered for full shares?
Hard to imagine OSU climbing out of the hole they are in and getting back to better examples of themselves in major sports…
And Seattle Times rebuffed in seeking info on payments to athletes. The “Williams” is the QB who tried to leave UW after signing an NIL deal.
“This month, UW pointed to Williams’ situation, saying it highlights the importance of keeping everything secret.
“The events of the past month at the University of Washington and other institutions underscore the importance of maintaining confidentiality around the specifics of an institution’s revenue share program,” UW Vice President Jane Yung wrote in denying The Seattle Times’ appeal of a public records request.
UW won’t disclose who it signs contracts with, when, for how much and under what terms because, it says, doing so would put it at a competitive disadvantage. The contracts, UW says, are “trade secrets” and exempt from disclosure under the state’s public records law.
Student-athletes are not employees, and their agreements, payments, and relationship to the University are fundamentally different from those of University personnel, including administrators, coaches, faculty, and staff,” UW spokesperson Victor Balta said in an email.
In addition to concerns about students’ privacy, releasing detailed information about student-athlete compensation or revenue sharing would place the University of Washington at a significant competitive disadvantage,” Balta wrote.
Public universities across the country have been doing everything in their power to avoid disclosing the millions of dollars they pay student-athletes.
In Colorado, the Legislature added an exemption to its public records law last year, explicitly to keep athlete payments secret. South Carolina is facing a lawsuit for refusing to divulge payment information, so the Legislature is moving quickly to pass a law allowing payments to remain secret.
In response to a September public records request from The Seattle Times, UW provided 109 contracts it has signed with student-athletes, since the nationwide legal settlement over the summer that allowed schools to pay athletes directly. But in nearly every important respect, those contracts were redacted.
All names were redacted. All dollar amounts and other benefits provided to athletes were hidden. Even the dates the contracts were signed were blacked out.”
https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/what-are-uw-athletes-being-paid-inside-a-6-month-quest-to-find-out/
UW is really saying:
They aren’t employees.
Yes, we are paying them, but that is our business.
Stop asking questions, we can’t compete if everyone knows our budgets.
Yes they are under “contracts”, but not employees and we can’t explain the terms of any contracts.
Why are you focusing on us, everybody is doing it.
We know we made a mistake to kill the PAC, but we need to keep up appearances like we are still competitive even though we know we are now Big10 bottom feeders.

Assessment of baseball through two weekends,
They are who we thought they were. Without a thumper in the lineup, this team’s offense isn’t scaring anyone. They’ll need to find an identity as a scrappy hitting team. Long at bats, wearing down pitchers into making mistakes, get hit by pitches. Only 2 home runs through two weeks. Coastal last year is a great example to follow.
Pitchers are going to be pressing because they know they have no room for error. Each inning is basically bottom 9 in a save situation.
Even with this, this team is a winning club and making the postseason. Not a top 16 or top 32. Likely a 3 seed.
I’m watching Arizona/Baylor for shits and giggles. Baylor is playing well so far, but I didn’t realize Michael Rataj has had a tough season and isn’t starting at times. Played about 10 minutes so far, with about 10 minutes left in the game. Baylor has been a huge disappointment at 14-13. I know Syracuse is bad, but Nate Kingz is at least starting. I assume they both got their bags.
None of the guys who transferred out last year are having any particular success with their new teams. Got paid for sure.
Wonder if a donor out there realizes basketball is a cheaper overall investment and the return could come very quickly. Beavs would have a decent starting five with guys Tinkle recruited. Pope, Bilodeau, Rataj, Kingz, and Lake.
None of them are making the show, enjoy the bag, don’t blow it on your “uncle’s” advice.. good luck
thats more than a decent starting 5 buddy if we had all of them we be legit good
That is true, but I’d guess they all left for 2 reasons, money and better coaching
In College baseball, #1, 2, 4 and 5 all recently lost on the same day
Here’s how bad offense has been thru 7 games. We are tied with like 5 schools to be ranked 235th in D1 baseball for runs scored. We have 27 runs thru 7 games. Looking at the highest scoring team at 7 games, it’s Virginia with 105 runs scored. Batting avg of .235. Like, this isn’t a bad game or off day, it’s been an off 7 games. That’s why I’m concerned. We haven’t shown we can score and so far there’s nobody outide of 4 guys that have even shown they can hit the ball. I dont think anyone was expecting the same level of production this year but that drop-off is insane.
Too many people are saying its “just early in the season and so its gonna be fine” aren’t looking at the details of what’s happening. Now, there’s time for growth and a lot of season left but you can’t ignore that our entire team except 3 or 4 guys are miles below batting even .250. This is nuts. Combined with drawing very few walks, it’s a problem. We’re independent and we won’t have the strength of schedule we had last year with all the road games we played so we cant afford to wait until May to start playing our best ball, win a conf championship and get eyeballs that way. Perhaps you could feel better if we were actually scoring runs but it was little mental errors that cost a win, or pitching just sucked for a particular game or two but there’s been legitimately nothing to give any thoughts that this team can score more than 3ish runs per game with the plate appearances so far.
Who says it’s early and going to be fine?
Probably Benny’s House.
I was sounding the alarm after the opening game. Hitting is atrocious, relief pitching is horrible, and we have 2 elite starters with no offense or bullpen to back them up.
Apart from 2 walk off wins, this team would be 2-5 after 7 games. I honestly don’t think they can stay above .500 on the year.
Good job by Creek to help give a bigger picture with national numbers comps. The Beavs already struggled with Michigan and Purdue!! How will they do against actual baseball schools?
As predicted, they will need a lot of 2-1 wins to stay afloat, but the bullpen hasn’t proven they can hold a lead, and the offense hasn’t proven they can score 2 runs.
No contact hitters, no long at bats, no home runs. We probably have some ABers who might be able to get through that line-up at least once without getting scored on.
I said after watching one of their scrimmages right before the season started that this team would struggle to score runs and it’s happening. The reality is the Beavs lost so much production in the off season and weren’t able to replace it. I kept waiting for the big name transfers in the portal to happen and they never did.
This team’s starting pitching will keep them in most games, but if you can’t score runs, you don’t win.
Last year, the bullpen struggled but the beavers offense could often compensate for the inconsistent pitching and outscore teams. A completely different story so far in the early season. Hopefully, some of these guys start producing at the plate. If not, it will be a long season.
As much complaining as there was on this board last season about swinging for the fences, at least they hit the ball resulting in runs. Too bad the all of this quality starting pitch ng could go to waste unless this team starts hitting the ball.
On a positive Beav sports note. McKalk Jr. and the Rugby boys smacked the Huskies in Seattle on Saturday, 24-10. Civil War is up next in Corvallis on March 7th. Beavs have lost to #1-ranked Western WA and #6-ranked Central WA, so the playoffs aren’t in the cards like they were in the fall, but a win over the Quacks would be good.
Shit I may have to wander over to campus, I know nothing about rugby but having a dog in the fight makes this a more appealing endeavor. What time?
“…but having a dog in the fight makes this a more appealing endeavor.”
Having the “dogs” be annual free agents isn’t very appealing, is it?
Maybe McCalk’s kid could put “McCalk Jr” on his jersey? Or is that not allowed in rugby?
In rugby, the starting 15 have to wear the jersey number that corresponds to their position on the field, so no names on the back of jerseys.
I think kick off will be at 1 pm. It’s the turf field right across from Gill.
Legit question. Who would be the 1, 2 and 3 seeds for the conference tourney should Gonzaga, LMU and Lady Beavs all tie for first place at 14-4?
This is a very REAL possibility
Per Canzano Tinkle is out at the end of the season. TBD if he leaves now or finishes up the season.
https://x.com/i/status/2027104260304019780
Why do I feel this is some sort of trap? Like tinkle will win the tournament and get the auto bid and Barnes will sign him to another extension. Oh wait that already happened.
Nope. Not happening and confirmed by Barnes. He gone!
https://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/2026/02/oregon-state-firing-mens-basketball-coach-wayne-tinkle.html
Damn your quick fingers!
Posts should show hour:minutes:seconds so we can see how close they are, ha!
“Wayne Tinkle’s tenure at Oregon State is coming to an end.
The Beavers are firing Tinkle at the end of the season, OSU athletic director Scott Barnes confirmed to The Oregonian/OregonLive.”
Posted 7 minutes ago…
I thought it was a typo on espn. Good news is players transfer every year anyway so this won’t change the roster turnover. Is the future coach already on the staff?
Tinkle’s out?! :::shocked face emoji:::
I’m actually surprised that Barnes didn’t just wait it out for the postseason.
Great news for long time Beav basketball fans though.
Anyone is a better option than Tinkle coasting along again.
Almost as good as the day Riley departed for the second time.
Cue Lindsay and the ‘there are no better options, you’ll be sorry’ posts
Barnes trying to distract from the Blueprint FOIA files?
Wonder where the buyout money came from?
Okay, now that Stinkle is gone, who do we get to replace him? Ant thoughts on potential candidates?
Musselman? Oh, shit, that was last time Beavs hired a coach, nvmd
Gary Payton
He came to mind too but is he currently coaching at Oakland. I also thought of Lester Connor as he was coaching somewhere but I don’t know for sure.
No he isnt. Hes the head coach of Boston in the big3 league
Curious why you think he would be a good coach? I get the playing pedigree, and assume he has matured, but I don’t quite see it with his temperament and impatience.
Positives – he has seen the floor from the PG position obviously, played under coaches Ralph Miller, George Karl (Sonics), Pat Riley(Miami), Phil Jackson (Lakers) and Lenny Wilkens and Rudy Tomjanovich (Olympic teams). Intolerance for poor effort, play. Alumni. s-I college POY, NBA All Star, DPOY, Championship credentials.
Negatives – temper, Intolerance for poor effort, play (was often hated on middling Sonics teams), Strategy interests? (While at Sonics advocated for a street ball approach post-Karl). Lack of HC experience. Any baggage with history of spousal abuse – wasn’t that an issue years ago? Interested in living in Oregon?
All that exposure to great coaches is compelling….
There’s an excellent strain of weed named after him, though . . .
Ha! What’s it called?
Gary Payton.
Great for creative and active pursuits. Well named.
Recruiting?
He’s been coaching since 2017
What’s his record? Has his team shown steady improvement?
Remember when he was going to donate a few to several millions of dollars to OSU? It was a pretty large amount at the time for a single alumni donation. Don’t know if it ever happened?
“we” as in AB posters.? I’d be quite surprised to learn that any of the decision-makers require AB input, but u. never know . . .
Anyone have the full story from the Canzano article?
End of one very long era. Super polarizing with getting back the tourney for the first time in 26 years and then the bottom of the barrel followed by a cinderella run and back to the bottom. I’ve met Tinkle a few times, he’s a great guy to talk to. Very personable. Hard to hate on a guy who has been very kind in the times I’ve gotten to chat with him. But in the end, results are what matters and they were no where near what they needed to be.
So, off to the next, this is Barnes’s last hire before he goes off into the sunset. With NIL making things really tough, hard to say who could be a good choice. The guys who can deal with all the NIL and turnover every year are at the top schools and paid the big bucks. Beavs should look for another up and comer or a reclamation project, one who is looking to use OSU as a stepping stone. If it works, it could engage donors and keep the program going regardless of coach. I don’t think bringing home an alum is a good idea. They’d get too much leeway when it becomes clear it’s not working out. Rueck won titles at the lower level so that was fine, but I don’t think there’s an alum like that on the men’s side.
How about they just let Rueck run both programs and designate his choice as the “Assistant men’s coach” as an extension of the overall OSU basketball department.
“The Ralph Miller Head Basketball Coach [name]…”
Corvallis is a small town…I own a business in town and almost 20 years in, I’ve met or worked with many (most?) of the coaches and/or their wives, last three ADs, and last three presidents, hell Blaylock is a customer… to a person, almost all are nice and personable.
Jay Johns wife was a loon, Dave Ungerers wife was a sweetheart, The Rileys -including their daughter-genuinely as nice as they have been sold, Cav is a hoot, hand jive seemingly as dense in person as on the field…I genuinely like the Tinkles, Lisa, Tres, WT, all are just lovely and understand the fishbowl that is a small university town.
Unfortunately aside from a couple of miracle runs he is who we think he is as a coach. Say what you want about Craig Robinson he got the basketball facility built, but he couldn’t coach.
Like you said, at the end of the day, results have to mean something.
I have to suspect Tinkle is probably ready for something different too?
Remember when he first came here? “Oregon State? You’re dam straight!”
The Big Zero has a list of potential candidates and none of them jump off the page and say that’s the guy, but there are a few interesting prospects…..the guy from PSU, Zags assistant coach, UC Santa Barbara HC, and the Seattle U HC…..could.be good options.
Joe Pasternack, UC Santa Barbara, in 9th season, with six 20-win seasons…
Chris Victor, Seattle U HC, three 20-win season in 5 years…
Some pretty good consistency there.
That’s what I thought too.
Pasternack would be the only one id consider out of those options.
GP and Lester Conner were mentioned above. No to both. They are both coaching in semi professional leagues elsewhere as of 2025.
At HC changes, it can be fun to review the immediate reactions to the hire:
https://angrybeavs.com/basketball/10242
Not my entire post, but…….
“I wasn’t behind this hire and still am skeptical. But if I see some tough nose defense being played, I’ll get back on board. I’ll wait until the fall.”
Id say overall Stinkle gets a C+. 2 of the worst seasons in history, but also did something no one else had done since Ralph Miller. The 2021 run to the elite 8 sure was fun, not expected and was something I didnt think id ever see again.
Barring those 2 tourney appearances in 13 seasons? He was mediocre. At best.
Add in the fact that he couldn’t even get this team to 3rd place (behind Zags and St Marys) in the WCC in 2 seasons says its the right time to move on.
The new Pac is gonna be alot tougher than the WCC
Good gals 77-47 with 2:36 left
I’d be for Tinkle being AD if we can’t get Pat Casey to come and toss Barnes from his office. WT seems like a legit good dude, people respect him and he definitely supported the university. It was clearly time to move on from WT as a coach though, like 3 years late. I am definitely surprised we did this with 1 year left on his contract with how our financial situation is. Unless there’s something else at play for him to take another job within the athletic department, I’m curious if some big donors were willing to pony up to cover that cost. Wish him the best but it was long overdue to part ways.
My guess is neither Barnes or Tinkle wanted a lame duck year. Would have been nice to have seen some growth in the program from when he took it over. But its been treading water. The names I’ve seen listed included a couple people who will be coaching in the conference next year. Not sure how many coaches are going to be eager to face Gonzaga twice a year. You better get a coach who can find players and deal with the NIL. Best case scenario would be find a coach who has won a tournament game or two. A former “hot coach” currently bumping his head after his team moved to a new conference. Not saying Dana Altman or Bobby Hurley, but someone like that who might be looking for a new five-year deal, knowing they won’t be getting one at their present location. It’s tough though, there are a lot of teams that have good records this year, approaching 20 wins, who really haven’t beaten anyone of note, like Portland State.
Ladies hoops update…..
Gonzaga and LMU both currently 14-3. Good gals at 13-4.
Saturday LMU visits Gill. Zags Play at 5th place Portland.
A Beavs win and Gonzaga loss creates a 3 way tie for first at 14-4.
Tiebreakers????
Here you go according to AI:
what happens if there’s a three-way tie for first place in the women’s Western Coast Conference basketball regular season and what’s the tiebreaker
In a three-way tie for first place in the West Coast Conference (WCC) women’s basketball regular season, all teams are considered co-champions, but tournament seeding is determined by a strict tiebreaker policy. The primary tiebreaker is the cumulative winning percentage of games played between the tied teams. If that does not break the tie, the team with the highest NCAA NET ranking (calculated after the final regular-season game) earns the higher seed.
WCC Three-Way Tiebreaker Procedure
If a three-way tie persists, the tiebreakers follow this order:
Head-to-Head Mini-Conference: The combined conference record (winning percentage) of all games played between the three teams.
Record vs. Highest Seed: If two teams remain tied after step one, their head-to-head record is used. If all three are still tied, the record against the highest-seeded team outside of the tie is used.
NET Ranking: The team with the superior NET ranking (from the final regular-season games) gets the higher seed.
Coin Flip: If all else fails, a coin flip is conducted by the Conference Commissioner.
The winner of this process earns the #1 seed for the WCC Tournament, while others take subsequent seeds.
Someone just emailed me a request saying they can’t post. Can you resend that? I accidentally deleted the email.
Will do!
Cool. Although, it does look like you can post now. Still, send it so I can make sure.
That was a good test, haha
Thought I’d take AI out for a walk–it was whining at the door–and discovered that among the potential candidates to replace Tinkle is . . . Brent Vigen. That guy must be amazing, at least in AI-land.
Dark horse candidate
Herb Sendek. Hes done well at 4 different schools
Salary only 1 million at Santa Clara according to this. No clue on his buyout. Would he be interested?
https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/941156617
McNeese State beat LSU 7-6. Suck on that one Trent Caraway!
Bobby Hurley?
You know, I have a lot of gripes with Tinkle. But at the end of the day, he provided stability we hadn’t seen in a long time and provided us with a Beaver all-time sports moments. He put a couple of guys into the NBA who have had pretty stable careers which is far more difficult than putting guys into the NFL due to the limited roster spots. This was all stuff we were not seeing in the previous 30 years. The contract extension was definitely something he earned, like it or not. No university in the same position would have denied him that contract. He never phoned it in. He has them in position to get the 4th spot in the WCC with a team that is sporting one of his best road records ever. and it sounds like he is sticking around to finish the season. I would not be surprised to see the players band together and make things interesting to end the season.
It’s still a 2 sided coin with Tinkle though. All you catalog is true, but his tenure has been marked with low lows and high highs.
I do grant that Tinkle has been a good representative for OSU, and a steady mainstay in the athletic department through all of the upheaval. He has always been an all in OSU coach, present at baseball games, football games and generally supporting all other OSU athletes. In that sense, he may be better as an AD and continue how he has been in OSU circles. But it is definitely past time to replace him as a coach.
We all expected a steady line of developing talented big men, which never happened.
We also saw an over reliance on the coaches kids for about 5 years, instead of building the roster deeper around those guys.
Maybe the COVID year took some of the wind out of his sales since Tres never had the chance to finish his career with an NCAA run. We will never know. But the sheer amount of turnover on the roster even pre-NIL was exhausting for fans, it must have been hard on the staff as well.
I have been hard on Tinkle for his in game approach, and his roster management, but he has been an above average coach at OSU and has been a part of some memorable moments for sure. I wish him well.
Here are some names to consider:
OSU/NBA guys-
Gary Payton
Lester Connor
Brandon Roy
Old guys-
Ben Howland- probably not, but west coast experience
Ben Braun- unlikely but may want another chance
Randy Bennett- St Mary’s
Current Assistants-
Brian Michaelson- 10 years on Gonzaga staff
Todd Lee- USC staff
Rod Palmer- UCLA staff
Jeff Linder- Texas Tech staff
Young guys-
Bryce Drew- Grand Canyon
Matt Brauer- SF Austin
Sketchy guys-
Greg Marshall
Bobby Hurley
Billy Gillespie
High School guys-
Jason Kerr- O’dea High School Seattle
Jason Griffith- Mount Si High School
My order of preference:
Randy Bennett
Gregg Marshall
Bryce Drew
Todd Lee
Brian Michaelson
We tried with Randy Bennett before. He said no. Hes happy at St Mary’s.
His salary is only 1.34 million at St Mary’s. OSU could probably top that.
But also consider this. With Gonzaga joining the new Pac? SMC could run the WCC for the foreseeable future and make the NCAA tourney every year. Why give that up?
Wouldnt hurt to ask though. But I doubt it
You said it best, it’s time to move on from WT as a coach. Keep him in the athletic dept. Fire Barnes. WT can be AD. 20% road win percentage. That alone gets anyone else anywhere fired long before WT was. 2 historically bad seasons and mostly so-so results otherwise outside the 2 Tourny appearances. Boring ass basketball with 0 offensive game plan or philosophy. With the coaches’ sons and GP2 he did get some good talent but the recent “good” talent has largely done jack shit at the schools they transferred to if I’m not mistaken. Looking like many of them were just better than the bad talent the rest of our roster had.
I’m sure resources were thin the last few years so I feel for him in that respect, but he could’ve taken a slight pay cut to free up resources. He was legit robbing the school since the elite 8 run. It’s surprising how many fans seem to not give a shit about actual results in what should be the 2nd highest grossing sport for the school and are just happy having a nice guy around. Being a nice coach might fly for non-revenue sports but you have to try and be competitive in the money makers. I started going to Beav basketball games as a kid in the mid-80’s and this year I have to admit I could care less about watching a minute of this team. Boring basketball. Josiah Lake and Sy only players that were even left after last year, which was essentially another complete overhaul. It was comical how many players xferred in and out since elite 8.
Why do some people always say Coaches loyal to OSU like Riley, Casey and Tinkle should be considered for AD. The old model of guys like The Great Pumpkin have long sailed. You need a businessman with unique skills not a good coach or loyal guys or face of the program. In todays environment you need someone who has experience in dealing with these today issues.
Stability? Wtf you talking about? 7 losing seasons in 13 years and lucky breaks with coaches kids.. nice guy but get real
Well stability does mean knowing what you will get every year.
Don’t confuse my effort at seeking some positives as if I was supportive of Tinkle.
I was tearing my hair out watching Tinkles teams once GP2 left. It was all disastrous from then on, aside from the Elite 8 shocker.
Mena baseball wins 2-1 over Houston.
Another gem for Dax Whitney. He’s gotta be Paul Skenes on roids to get a win this year. Crazy
11 K’s in 6 innings and 3 hits but does get the W…Too bad this team can’t produce at the plate.
I’ve been high on Chris Gerlufsen for a while. But I also like what Takayo Siddle is doing at UNC Wilmington.
Do we know what type of MBB salary range we’re working with?
We went cheap with football. What makes anybody think we’ll put a competitive salary out there for MBB?
With us paying Tinkle 3 mil or so I think at least 2 mil blows the doors off the wages of somebody from a lower division/smaller profile – or if more than 3 mil, they are competitive in tha Pac-12, but I’m not confident in my answer.
We were paying Tinkle $3m based on old Pac12 salary though. New Pac12 won’t have that type of money to work with.
Found these tweets from the Tinkle kids very interesting…

What’s their point. It’s a mediocre product at best. Do they expect Gill to be sold out?
He lasted 12 years. Could have left whenever he wanted. I don’t understand it. About the only thing I thought was kind of bush was waiting until the final home game. They are still above .500, why not wait until the season is all the way over? Put him in the awkward spot of staying on knowing he won’t be back next year.
Unless Barnes already has feelers out.
Hopefully this is the kind of coach we are looking for, young, relatively inexpensive, entertaining offensively even as we rebuild. Ben Howlett was named the 12th head coach of the IU Indianapolis men’s basketball program on May 27, 2025, coming to the Circle City after a wildly successful run at NCAA Division II West Liberty (W.Va.) University in West Liberty, W.Va. Howlett piloted the Hilltoppers for eight seasons, earning eight consecutive NCAA Tournament berths, eight straight Mountain East Conference (MEC) regular season titles and a 217-37 (.854) winning percentage. His fast paced, up-tempo, full court style saw his teams average more than 27 wins per season, while typically ranking among the nation’s leaders in scoring, scoring margin, assists and turnover margin
That’s a good one. I’d like to add someone like that or Eric Olen from New Mexico, he was very effective at UC San Diego, stepping up from an assistant to reach success there .741 record I saw. He’s only 45 but has significant experience as assistant coach to head coach at UC San Diego, and so far decent at New Mexico. We should be able to beat his current salary (1.2 million) and he might find PAC-12 more prestigious. Personally I think there’s a lot of guys you could shop for and I’d hate to settle for someone past their prime or doesn’t have a grasp on transfers/NIL
Courtside 20-16 end of 1st LMU and LMU is very good.
35-34 LMU halftime. It’s going down to the wire…..
Yeah. Nice job by your girlfriend: 9 turnovers, 5 of them in the final quarter/OT. She had a chance to put them up by 1 in regulation with 21 seconds left, but clanked the free throw. Would have been the game winner as the Beavs got a defensive stop with a second left. I’ve warned in the past that her FT shooting <60% was going to haunt the team

Sounds like you wanted her to be your gf but she didn’t give you the time of day. Let it go
Good Gals drop this one 71-69 in OT.
TO’s ?………………22 !!
At the game and it was certainly everything I expected and thought it would go OT. Too many costly turnovers were the difference but that 3 pointer with very time left on the clock was a dagger. While the loss was a bummer, it doesn’t really affect the seeding for the conference tourney.
LMU is a very good team and have some outstanding talent so they deserved to win it. Beavers most likely slotted for the WNIT unless they win the conference tourney.
Women lose to LMU in OT and a share of the conference title. Would have lost the tiebreakers had they won so they were going to be the #3 seed in the conf tourney no matter the outcome. Win the first game and get a rematch with LMU.
Net ranking too low to get in as an at large so must win tourney to get in.
No difference in tourney seeding yet LMU freaking out after the game like they just won the NCAA Championship.
B6, Miiiiitch’s guys trying for a comback, down 6-5 after being 6-0.
Krieg pulled after 1 ab, Haight and Proctor each with a HR.
Kleinschmidt a poor outing, 5 er’s in 3 innings.
Perusing through an article on combine results and saw this about former BSU QB Taylen Green:
“Quarterback Taylen Green broke Anthony Richardson’s record for the best vertical leap at the position since 2003 with a 43 ½-inch vertical leap, and then topped the Indianapolis Colts passer’s high-water mark in the broad jump at 11-2….Then, Green reeled off a 4.36-second 40-yard dash time.”
I know he never put it all together as a QB, and drills are drills, but that’s some impressive athleticism there.
“The testing profile created quite the stir around the 6-6, 227-pound passer, who had widely projected as a developmental option for teams on Day 3.
NFL Network’s Charles Davis said Green told him that no teams had approached him about working out as a receiver, adding that he would not be interested in a position switch.
Green started for the Razorbacks for the last two seasons after playing the first three years of his career at Boise State. Known for his running ability and ample arm strength, Green threw for 2,714 yards and 19 touchdowns last year while adding 777 yards and eight scores on the ground.”
Kleinschmidt takes his second loss as the comeback falls short, exciting and disappointing end; Beavs bats gave themselves a chance there at the finish.
7 runs wasn’t enough today, 8-7 ‘bama.
Each team had 12 hits, 2 errors, and 8 lob, only the run total differed.
Tough weekend for Beavs sports as WBB, MBB and baseball all go down.
Fairly Illustrative of OSU sports…Baseball and WBB almost, coulda, shoulda, didn’t….
Beavs last second Lisa sinks chance for a three way tie for the conference title as the pilots beat Gonzaga 92-91. LMU wins the regular season title at 15-3. It doesn’t really impact the beavers spot in the conference tourney but sure would have been much to win it.
As you might recall last year, the pilots won the regular season but lost the conference and were on the sidelines for the NCAA. Although LMU is a very good team and plays excellent defense, I think the same thing will happen to them this year. My bet to win the conference tourney is Gonzaga.
That said, it begs the question, if you win the regular season title and don’t get an NCAA bid, what’s the point of playing a conference regular season? Personally, I think the regular season champ and the conference tourney champ should receive auto NCAA bids but that makes too much sense.
Go beavers! Make another run for the NCAA tournament!
How does auto correct translate “loss” into last second “Lisa”?
What about Steve Alford HC from Nevada as a potential candidate to replace Tinkle. His buyout is $1.5M as of June 30, 2025? He is 132-84 at NV with two NCAA tournaments in six years. I don’t know if he’s interested in leaving NV or if the Beavs could even afford him but…..
I doubt they’ll go after anyone who requires a buyout. Likely a budget of around 1 million dollars.
Beavs pull off another 1 run win. Might end with a negative run differential this year and a winning record.
Hey McCalk, what is the concussion risk and frequency in rugby? Curious how you see it comparing to or contrasting with football?
From what I’ve read, there are about 15 incidents per 1000 match exposures. I’ve linked a 2021 study that included high school rugby. It’s pretty tough reading. McCalk Jr sit out a game in the fall for a possible concussion. Never had one in high school with football or rugby.
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7960902/
Thanks! That’s not as bad as I thought it might be.
They stress safe tackling. High tackles are a serious penalty, and a player can get a red card. I did read somewhere that scrum caps don’t really offer any additional protection.
Based on the actual number of minutes of play vs football the rate of head injuries is dramatically lower. Since a rugby match features around 35 minutes of actual game play, and a football game features only 15-18 minutes of actual game play.
Anecdotally, I would say the head injury rate in college rugby is higher than high school and adult club or professional.
In an average HS season, in Oregon, more than 2 concussions in a season for a team is a lot. In 20 plus years of coaching HS and college I usually see one per season in HS, and 5 times as many in college.
MBB and WBB seeded #4 in conference tourney. A rematch between OSU and LMU if the Beavs can get that far. LMU two close wins this season vs Beavs but if they meet up again, is find it difficult to beat the same team 3x especially given how close these games were.
Beavs still ranked this week. Reputation is helping a lot because the metrics say they shouldn’t.
Mid week game vs Oregon. While it is a mid week, it is a big one for RPI as Oregon is higher right now. Xavier coming in for the weekend series, is not a good RPI. Beavs don’t have many big RPI teams on the schedule so winning these are important.
Beavs will not make a splash until postseason where the starters can dominate. Until then, if they make a regional as a 3 seed, they will bump
along struggling to score runs and hold leads.
Mitch has his work cut out for him since he didn’t find any bats to replace the guys who left…
Tinkle was not the best coach but above 500 after roster turnover again. I would be curious to see what he could do with a 3m roster rather than getting paid 3m not to coach next year. After the years he’s been at OSU, it feels pretty salty to fire him with 2 weeks left. He’s a nice guy and represented the university well. He’s not acting like a jerk on the sidelines or having issues with players following team rules from what I know. Until the school puts money into the program it doesn’t matter who is the next coach. Maybe donors don’t want to put money into the program while Tinkle is still around. I think he’s actually evolved pretty well to the NIL era and rebuilt a decent team each year. 2021 was an embarrassment though.
Time will tell who is the next coach and if they have any more resources than Tinkle currently does. Who’s going to put pressure on Barnes and ask the hard questions? I’m thankful Rueck has stuck around.
He rebuilt decent teams, and adroitly recruited international players to adjust to NIL era and lack of resources, but seemed his own worst enemy with individual and team play regressing over the course of a season(s). He made the game seem more difficult than necessary.
Reminds me a bit of a number of OSU football coaches who make quarterbacking look so difficult while opponents have QB’s completing 65%+ passes, and/or young QBs performing early.
You can’t even get a game cast of today’s game. Wow
Big10 teams don’t care about baseball, nor do they budget for it.
God showing by Mitch’s crew so far. Beavs up 4-1 so far.
Thx as I’m listening to the game now. 6-1 and proctor has 3 doubles.
Safety squeeze by Singer makes it 5-1 Beavs t5
We’ve seen a hit-n-run and some aggressive base running…..is the small ball talk for real?
T7, Galloway’s 3 RBI double makes it 10-3 Beavs and Josh Worden notes uck fans leaving the park!
Beavs 10 hits and 9 LOB so far.
One article has former Beaver Nashin Wright as the #22 free agent available:
“22. CB Nahshon Wright
Though he’s already 27, he’s hardly a finished product. He’s also a 6-4, 199-pound corner who led the NFL with eight takeaways (5 INTs, 3 fumble recoveries) after becoming a surprise starter (and surprise first-time Pro Bowler) for the Chicago Bears. The upside and production spike are going to make Wright rich.
Best fits: Bears, Seahawks, Cowboys”
https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/columnist/nate-davis/2026/03/03/2026-nfl-free-agents-top-100-available-players-kyler-murray/88964773007/
Beavs win 10-6 despite some shakey bullpen performances, again.
No errors, 5 doubles today.
nike pitching stats today look a lot like some of what Riiiich has put on the field in the past: 7 bb, 5 k, 4 hbp, 1 wp
IAGDTBAB!
Does Nike au spend a lot on baseball players? Was this David taking down Goliath today?
The vets in the bullpen have issues again. Maybe too high of expectations for Edwards this year. Known for his fastball but has zero strikeouts this year. I don’t know if we’ll see much of him the rest of the year in situations other than garbage time.
Hopefully a start of good things for a couple of freshman, Proctor and Porter. If they get going, the offense can produce enough runs. Proctor moves really well for his size. 3 doubles and he got in there easy each time.
D1 baseball is saying Whitney touched 101 on the gun in his last start. Hope his elbow stays on.
Barnes is sure getting alot of bad press right now.
Local radio is on his ass. Canzano is on his ass.
The Belligerant Beavs guys exposed some text conversations they recived via FOIA request that seemed to show Barnes and Blaylock not only signed OSU up for a bad deal with Blueprint, but also midlead the public with their handling of it and even passed up on a better financial offer from Lockverse to sign with Blueprint(who Blaylock had previously been tied to)
Just sounds like not much in the way of checks and balances going on at OSU with how their athletic department operates.
The masses are calling for his head more and more and I doubt he lasts much longer.
It’s time for a change…….
It’s almost like OSU administrators don’t care about athletics so it’s easy to use the program as a grift. Almost.
Anyone who hasn’t read this? Should. And should be fucking pissed.
Scott Barnes needs to go. Now. If he hasnt resigned by Sunday night, he should be fired.
https://www.belligerentbeavs.com/thedive/posts/the-barnes-files
Can we keep Wayne Tinkle and promote him to AD? Pr associate AD? Despite his coaching shortcomings hes been a wonderful ambassador for Oregon State and loves Corvallis. Even Pat Casey. Anything to get rid of these chuckle fucks ruining the athletic department.
They claim the changing landscape of college athletics but seriously have no idea what they are doing. Or they do and just dont care.
Remember that Barnes had his old PAC12 salary locked in and everyone else is staring at salary reductions, yet he pulls this kind of stunt behind the scenes.
He was the point on revitalizing the PAC12, but now that all looks like just a bigger grift for him as an opportunist. WSU admin and AD are both gone but only Barnes is still in place from 3 years ago when the PAC disintegration all went down…
We have a mess in the NIL department and Barnes is at the heart of that as well…
If donors were withholding money from MBB until Tinkle is gone, maybe there should be a similar tone until Barnes is sent packing too.
I am not a big donor, but how can anyone keep giving to this athletic department with such obtuse behavior and shady decisions?
Bjornstad has lots of acquaintances in and around OSU/Corvallis. It is amazing that Barnes and Blaylock thought they could just bully their way to a sweetheart deal for Blueprint and get away with it. I suppose OSU has cared so little about athletics that it was worth the shot to see exactly how asleep and disinterested the OSU admin and fanbase really are. Hopefully we see an about face and some action by the OSU president with Barnes and anyone associated with this string of decisions. It is pretty bad and reveals a low class operation inside OSU athletics. How much deeper does it go?
I’ve read the link below, and the deal with Lockerverse was not a better deal. It appears Blaylock isn’t all that bright and Bjornstead doesn’t know what professionalism is. Why in the world would he think OSU’s deal with BPS is something he should be privy to?
And one last thing, Nick Daschel is nothing but an AD sack tickler who will write anything for access.
Dear Nick, dont be like Lindsay. Donuts and cock gobbling arent the be all, end all.
But you just report “the facts”. Find a new job, cause you suck at journalism.
If you can buy out Tinkle, you can buy out Barnes. I’d say keep Tinkle one more year and spend the 3m on Barnes.
A couple of people had asked about Civil War Rugby on Saturday. Here are the official details. Go Beavs!
University of Oregon
? 10:00 a.m. PST Kickoff
?? Saturday, Mar. 7
? Student Legacy Park 2, Corvallis, OR
.
Nikegon’s rugby field is on the southern end of the footbridge to Day Island.
It’s a shitty field at a middle school in Springfield.
Football spring practices start next Tuesday, practice again on March 12 and 14 before a 18-day break for winter quarter finals and spring break.
OSU will resume practicing on April 1, followed by April 3. The following week, the Beavers will practice Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, followed by two weeks of Monday, Wednesday and Friday practices.
Oregon State’s 15 practices will culminate with its spring game at Reser Stadium at noon on April 25.
Murthy and/or the regents (who are they?) have to fire Barnes. It’s too much work to go there. He is
going to squeeze every possible penny out of OSU. Angie Machado had his # some time ago.
I had a TKR yesterday so I’ll be watching some TV…This surgery from a car accident back a few years ago and I would have to rate this as not a lot of fun. Taking drugs and CBD tincture and some home PT for the next week..I have an ice water pump but wondering if anyone has had this done, any helpful thoughts? A beaver win this pm might help. Lol
The scoundrels here at ab aren’t the only ones to recognize Scott Rueck, here’s part of what the von Borstel couple said as they announced a million dollar donation (on top of 2 mill recently given):
“We created this endowment because Coach Rueck represents what coaching should be about — integrity, commitment and doing things the right way,” said Wayne von Borstel. “He has built an incredible staff, developed players who carry themselves with pride, and created a program that represents Oregon State at the highest level.
“The landscape of college sports has changed, but Coach Rueck hasn’t. …This investment is our way of honoring him — his achievements, the program he built, and the family that surrounds him both on and off the court.”
https://osubeavers.com/news/2026/3/6/womens-basketball-3-million-gift-positions-oregon-state-womens-basketball-for-continued-success
Anyone see anything on Belligerent Beavs regarding GP and AC Green approaching Barnes about GP getting involved with the basketball program?
Talking about this?
https://x.com/i/status/2029828240815395221
Yeah, I don’t have x but that looks like the story.
4-0 Beavs t2.
4-2 final beavers win.
