  1. Too bad these Pac12 dickheads don't realize that there are fans who live outside the broadcast area and thus can't watch the broadcast BUT WOULD LIKE TO.

    F'em!!!

  2. JRod a K/throw out at 2nd for an inning ending DP.  Gotta love that JRod!

Time to pull Boyd and give the BP some work.

  3. Keyes an RBI double, doesn't matter how you spell it, he is having a nice day.  8-1 Beavs, nobody out and runners on 2 and 3, b7

  4. Painton on to pitch the t8, good for him to get some work, wouldn't mind seeing someone like Reser, Starr, or Fry face a couple batters.

Painton now being pulled for Bryant, doesn't really seem like Bryant needs the work, maybe Casey is simply anxious to put this one away for sure.

    • Lack of focus. Don't like the bullpen performing like that but not too surprising with a 7 run lead coming into the inning.

    • The BP, once a strength of this club, has suffered from lack of work due to the fine pitching of the starters.  In the playoffs there will be pressure on Bryant and Schultz to carry the load.  So much of the other talent in the BP will have to be on a very short leash.

      • Engelbrekt should get his fair share of work as well and I think Fry will see some time but Bryant and Schultz are definitely the main 2 relievers Casey and Yeskie will count on in big spots.

        • Yeah, guys like Jackson, Brocker, and Reser will likely be situational, for only one or two batters per appearance.  Earlier in the season it seemed several in the BP could be counted upon for a couple innings each.

  5. Gordon a leadoff walk to start the b8, Smith gets on on a bunt.  2 on with no out, need to add some runs if just for momemtum.

  6. With one out and bases full Dylan beats out a FC to get an RBI.  You can't overlook that kind of hustle to avoid an inning ending DP.

    9-5 good guys, 2 down b8, runners at 1 and 3.

  7. Beau Day to hit for Gordon to leadoff the 10th, guess this is why Casey gets the big bucks, I'd have stayed with Max.

  8. One more bunt for single by Peterson, he really has this bunt business down!

One out runners at 1 and 2 for Conforto.

A recent story explained how Peterson wasn’t much of a bunter when he came in from Juco, really worked to perfect his craft, good for him…..good for us!

  9. On to the 11th, need good work from Max E., not sure who could be counted upon to relieve him with any confidence.

  10. Beavers blew a lot of chances in the 6th, 7th and 8th innings that have come back to bite them in the ass. Since the 6th inning the Beavers are just 1 for 8 with RISP.

  11. Wow. Guess we don't like being conf. champs. Kills the whole underdog vibe of the athletic dept. Luck-O the Beavs or epic choke job last night?

  12. Baseball is fascinating, even a "bad" team like Wazzu is full of players who were all superstars on their high school and club teams, so the margin of error is probably smaller than win/loss records would led one to believe.  Beavers didn't execute and got burned.

  13. Cannot believe we Couged it yesterday!!! Had the lead all the way up until the 9th and our defense decides to day dream and go through the motions!! Also, Couge got defense!?!

  14. Tyler Smith with an error in the first. 5th Beavers error in their last 12 innings of play. Moore gets out of the inning and Tyler Smith leads off the bottom half of the inning with a single.

    • And the Beavers don't get a run across. Beavers are just 2 for their last 17 with runners in scoring position. 1-0 Beavers after 4 innings

  15. After 7 1/2, 4-0 Beavs.  Nice throw (again) by JRod to cut down attempted steal at second for the 2nd out, K by Moore for the third.

  16. Beavers win 4-0. Andrew Moore with the 6 hit shutout. Beavers clinch automatic berth and at least a share of the Pac-12 title for now, can win outright title with an Oregon loss or beating WSU tomorrow.

  17. We have to win tomorrow. Just hearing the announcer talking about Oregons shot at claiming part of the title annoyed the crap out of me. I want an outright championship.

    • If Utah can beat Oregon tonight(scoreless in the third at the moment), Beavers will have the outright title won before they play tomorrow.

        • Ducks won 6-2. Oh well, Beavers just got to wrap it up tomorrow. Already got the automatic berth, no pressure of losing the conference crown, expect the team to play loose and win big and win the conference outright.

          • Worst case scenario….Beavs game gets rained out tomorrow with no reschedule, Ducks win vs Utah, Ducks get 1st place in conference outright.  Is that a possiblity?  Or would they for sure find a way to reschedule the Beavs/WSU game before the season is officially over?  That's a tall order considering the 1st round post season games start next weekend and the rest of this week calls for showers.

Damn you Phil Knight and your rain making lazers!!!

          • no, beavs would be .786 and ducks would be .759 that should still put beavs ahead.

if beavs played and lost AND ducks won both would be .759 but beavs have tie breaker.

  18. Surprise, surprise, ucks get one unearned run in the first.  Utah ties it in the 4th.

Luck o' the ucks won't carry them far in the post season.

    • Some of that luck might be wearing off sooner than that. Utah now leads 4-3 after Reed gave up 3 straight hits to start the bottom of the 5th and then fields a bunt and fires it down the right field line.

    • Wetzler losing focus?  Not in his nature to allow the steal by seeming to forget about the runner….lead to the 3rd Coug run.  He'll settle down now.

  19. Wetzler a 1-2-3 inning in the t5, two K's.  Now that his "psyche" is repaired Casey likely to go to the BP before Ben faces more than a couple more batters.

  20. Utah is leading Oregon 9-3 in the bottom of the 7th. So, looks like the Beavers will win the outright conference title regardless of the result of this game, but coming back to win this would be a nice way to end the regular season.

  21. Top of the order coming up for the Beavs b7, time for some offense.

BTW: Utah up 10-3 now, only three outs left for the pretty boys!

    • Agree.

One thing is for sure, there is no reason for the Beavs to be overconfident against ANYONE in the post-season!  No reason either to be afraid of anyone, just play the game as they can.

  22. Beau hitting for Gordon with runners on 1 and 2, one out.  This didn't work the last time Casey tried it, is he due?

Beau strikes out, I hope Casey’s faith in him is rewarded in the post-season.

    • Surprised he went with Beau there slightly. Seemed like a good spot for Jansen or Hendrix but Beau had been good when called upon so I can see why he would go with Beau, just didn't come through.

  23. One down in the t9, need to give Max better defensive support than the last time he worked.

Would be nice to see Max get credit for a win to make up for being saddled with his first loss in the last appearance.

  24. San Diego State is winning the MWC Championship Game right now over New Mexico. If SDSU wins, I think they probably end up as the 4th seed in the Corvallis Regional.

  25. Just got back from my son's baseball tournament to discover all is right with the world of Beaver. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for my boy's team as they got beat 13-3 and their opponent had a 12 year old with a mustache who turned a blooper down the right field line into an inside the park home run!

Oh well, I'd rather have the Beavs win anyway!

  26. the mighty SEC and ACC take 9 of the 16 regional host sites.  Absolute bullshit.  If Vagina Tech @ 38-20 was worthy of hosting, why not ASU?

    • Va Tech had series wins over Florida State and Virginia and beat those teams at ACC Tournament and had no bad series losses. Arizona State lost series against Washington and Washington State which are really bad series losses and lost series to Arizona(3 losses to UA) and Stanford, two non-regional teams while only having two good series wins and 3 less wins vs the RPI top 50 and being 10+ spots below Va Tech in the RPI. Not much of an argument for ASU instead of Virginia Tech in terms of hosting.

The only Pac-12 teams who should be hosts are Oregon, Oregon State and UCLA. NCAA committee got that right.

  27. So the question remains about Andrew Moore.  He is a shoo in for Pac-12 freshman of the year and a freshman all america.  I honestly believe he will be the Pac-12 pitcher of the year as well. Who else has been better???? 12-1 with a 1.22 ERA.  Sherfy and Appel can both eat a bag of dicks.  Moore is better than either of them.  Hands down

  28. Corvallis Regional

    #3 Oregon State

    UTSA (35-23)

    UCSB (34-23)

    Texas A&M (32-27)

    Manhattan regional:
    Kansas St (41-17)

    Wichita St (39-26)

    Bryant  (44-16-1)

    Arkansas (37-20)

  29. Beavers get #3 national seed and have Texas A&M, UC Santa Barbara and UTSA in their regional. Favorable regional and are matched up with the Kansas State Regional who may not end up getting out of their regional with Arkansas in there. Not a bad draw for the Beavers.

    • They didn't. 6-10 vs the top 50 RPI, no series wins against a team that made the postseason while NC State swept Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech and 15 wins vs the RPI top 50. There's no rational argument for Oregon over NC State. NC State has far superior resume.

      • Concerning the Ucks, all I can do now is root like hell for Rice.  They look like the only hope for an upset in that regional.  I watched the ESPNU selection show and at least they didn't gush all over Oregon, more than once they brought up their questionable hitting.

    • I'm on the fence about that one.  My guess is the committee did not want to reward the overrated ACC with a 4th national seed.  Why UNC is the overall top seed is beyond me.  I think Vanderbilt was more deserving

      • and baseball america agrees with me.

A minor seeding qualm: We disagree with North Carolina getting the No. 1 overall seed rather than Vanderbilt. The Tar Heels finished as the No. 1 RPI team while the Commodores were No. 2, but Vanderbilt went a record 26-3 in the SEC and did not lose a series all year. North Carolina lost its last two series of the season. The Tar Heels still won the ACC’s regular-season and tournament crowns, but we like Vandy’s resume a bit more.

  30. Beavs will need to step it up after this series. A good wake up call to never let up no matter who the opponent is.

Many of the beavs non-conference opponents made it in, Bryant, San Francisco, SDSU, San Diego. Shows the strength of the Beavs throughout the season.

Anyone know if Dan Child will be coming out of the bullpen? It seems like he was saved for the mid week game but didn't see any action this last series.

    • Child will definitely be coming out of the bullpen, though I'm not sure he'll get much of an opportunity to pitch in games.

  31. This seems like an extremely favorable regional draw followed by a dangerous super regional with Arkansas potentially headed to Corvallis. In the last projection I saw, Texas A&M wasn't even going to make the tournament. Now they're coming to Corvallis as a 2 seed, something seems really off about that.

  32. OT – I'm rather certain (oxymoron?) that such an erudite bunch as angrybeavs knows all about airbnb. In case not, there are several postings for "College World Series" houses; pricey but then I have no idea what the going rate is for commercial lodging during the series, so who knows.
