Baseball: Beavs @ Stanford
Somebody must be buying tires! Angry’s been able to fund a road trip. Or maybe off sellin’ soap??
Meanwhile, lets talk baseball vs Stanford.
Is this the last series in which the opponent has the ability to beat the Beavs without a significant stumble on the part of Casey’s guys? Even with the ucks and cougars having slightly better RPI’s than tree it seems like tree is more of a challenge. I’m thinking the ucks, cougs, and even huskies are more likely to need miscues and “off days” by the Beavs in order to prevail.
Anyway, Casey is keeping the fire going and aware of the significance of surviving the trap game at St. Mary’s: “I thought it was big,” coach Pat Casey said of the comeback win. “I saw what our guys looked like last year when they walked out of the loge and didn’t get invited to a regional. So I think every inning is big for our club.” (link below)
And of Stanford, he says, “Without question they have the best arms we’ve seen to this point,” … “They are as good a pitching staff as anybody in the country. I’m not saying they are better than everybody, but they are as talented as anyone we will see.” I think it was Bill who posted here of the strength of Stanford’s arms; it will be fun to see how the Beavs bats do this weekend, probably not the series in which Adley’s bat comes alive as I’ve been hoping.
Series starts 6pm Friday. All three games are supposed to be broadcast on a live stream produced by Stanford: http://pac-12.com/live/stanford-university
GO BEAVS!
