So what now?
This could be a disaster for recruiting. Sitake was questionable as a DC, so I don’t care too much about that, but the lack of stability is a major problem.

I’ve been out of the loop the past few days, and I’m trying to catch up.
Just read this article. So do we know if Sitake was at the meeting or what happened? Need a follow up from Gina. The Navy guy is going to get the job, right?
Lady Beavs dismantled CSU Bakersfield today to move to 8-0.
Haven’t kept up right recruiting of late, so props to Beaverkman and Blazer on that. AB hit 3.7 million views this week. Keep sharing links to the site if you post a comment in the Oregonian so we get a constant influx of new blood. I get nothing out of this — it’s so our voice grows stronger when we need it (right now OSU is mostly in a good spot with all the major programs).

I’m going with 78-58, Kansas. I don’t think the Beavs are mentally ready for this type of game yet, especially on the road. It could be worse than 20. Hope to be wrong.
The lady Beavs play at 2pm, so I’m starting the thread early and it can cover women and the men’s game. The ladies look to have a layup in Idaho.
Better Seth Collins Comparison
I’ve heard Chuckie Keaton and Marcus Mariota. Both obviously much better passers and overall QBs.
I was thinking about my Jets today and thought of Brad Smith, the QB from Missouri, wondering where he went.
Here are his numbers.
To me, very similar to Collins. Smith was once a pre-season Heisman candidate in the mid 2000s, which is what I and others have said about Collins — that if he can complete intermediate passes he’d probably be a Heisman candidate one day. That’s a Captain Obvious prediction considering how he runs. But as I have said many times at this point, I don’t think he’ll ever pass well enough [to even reach a Brad Smith level]. Smith was a better runner and decision maker than Collins as well.
But I think that’s the best compassion with any player I’ve ever seen, so I thought I’d through it out there as food for thought. Of course, Brad only threw 10 passes in the NFL and the Jets drafted him in the 4th round as a WR and KR. He was pretty dynamic and good as “playmaker” for the Jets.
I think GA has the perfect idea (mine) of letting Collins play QB and run (occasional pass) inside the 10 and outside the 10 he’s a WR/playmaker.
Coaching Rumors/Sitake and Dropped Passes
I know you guys want to talk about Sitake and who will replace him, if he leaves. Go for it. I’m indifferent to that because I don’t think he is a great coach like he’s made out to be. Then again, I didn’t think Shaw was a great coach, and it turns out he is pretty damn good even after the Harbaugh halo.
Anyway, what I find more interesting is the constant complaining by fans about dropped passes. Mostly Bolden. Obviously I understand why those people complained. Bolden did seem to drop a ton of balls, though I don’t see those stats logged anywhere. Here are the NFL figures and the explanation as to why a WR drops passes.
More about Dropped Passes
Usually receivers who play the slot position tend to drop the ball less because they catch shorter passes and are known for their ‘good hands’ over and above other physical attributes like speed and size.
It’s easy to blame the wide receiver for dropped passes, but partial blame can sometimes fall on the quarterback. Consistently throwing into tight situations or slight accuracy issues can lead to a higher percentage of drops as well.
Under Mannion these same WRs had fewer drops (from memory, as we don’t have the stats). I think a lot of it was their lack of confidence in the QB, especially Collin’s hospital balls. Then MM and Mitchell were hit and miss with accuracy. All of that takes a tole on WRs. I think these WRs are much better than they looked, and that will be proven if there’s adequate QB play next season.
