Recruiting Update/Discussion

43

We’re going to be posting more recruiting updates via Beaverkman. I might have another source with good info coming online soon, too. So far I’ve gone through film on 5 prospects, and Marcus Maryion is the only exciting one. For those of you who follow recruiting, do you see any diamonds in the rough or obvious future stars?

Lindsay Schnell to SI

I guess the Texas and Alabamas of the world even mess up every once in a while and sign a 1 star recruit. Just kidding, SI jumped the shark in the early 70s. Only boneheads waiting around in dental offices read it anymore.

Now she can suck on national teat like the rest of the media. We all know she has no backbone and took the job so she can buy more shoes and clothes. Good riddance!

Now hire someone with integrity, Oregonian (I might consider your offer if it’s lucrative and paid in gold or bitcoins).

7pm start on Thursday.

No commentary, as usual, until the team is worth commenting on.

Oregon State Basketball Woes..and More BDC Errors.

The post-Maryland optimism seems so long ago.

We didn’t even have a game thread for Utah. Why make one when nobody even cares enough to comment?

Anyway, they lost again. 0-2 in conference now. I thought Colorado and Utah presented the best chances at wins. Maybe Washington State. 0-18 in conference is not out of the question, and it would put the Beavs at 8-22 for the year. I am thinking they will win two games, maybe versus a WSU or USC. Keep in mind BDC extended CR to two years through 2016 after the 14-18 (8-10) 2010 season. Another great move by BDC.

Riley’s Refusal to Play Backups

79

Could hurt OSU again if Mannion goes pro.

From October:

Brent Vanaderveen should get the mopup time, rather than Cody Vaz.

Vaz will be gone in a few months. Vanderveen, we are told, is the future QB. Mannion might leave early. So what is the logic in putting Vaz in blowouts? He has experience already, so they don’t need to groom a backup, they need to groom a future starter. Now that the schedule becomes difficult, the opportunity to get Vanderveen time has passed. Riley overlooking another (logical) opportunity. Watch how this hurts down the line.

People go nuts in the comment section: http://angrybeavs.com/football/9537

Riley could have played him the very next week versus Cal, or versus Washington (early season opportunities vs Hawaii, WSU, or Colorado).

For those who argued Vaz had to be the backup to stay engaged. Well, I have news for you, folks: Vaz never played in those games or became engaged, and now he is gone, and Vanderveen has zero snaps. How do you like that foresight? How do you like them apples?
