Not much to add that hasn’t been discussed in the prior thread.

I’m #1.
Insert, “no you’re #2 comment.”
It looks like you’re both.

the offense: it’s an immature operation, in that it can’t afford a single penalty or a play resulting in negative yardage; just can’t overcome mole hills, really. And special teams has really regressed from earlier in the year. That said, a win or two more and one would have to conclude, based upon last year’s results, that the year qualifies as a success. Really low bar though. Pressure will be on for six or more wins next season.
My take on the offense:
Offensive line is improved this year, seemingly from getting stronger. We’ll have to replace a bunch of guys next year. QB play is almost as bad this year. Better passers, worse runners…slight net gain. WRs bad as last year. RB play is strong.
As to why it’s not working? It’s the same as last year with StS. The offense is very one step forward, two back. When there’s a good play, many times a penalty brings it back. When there’s a good pass, many times it’s dropped. When there’s a turnover in enemy territory, the offense doesn’t know what to do — playcalling has become iffy in those situations and execution across the board (not just QB) has a “deer in headlights” look. There’s a bi-polar personality to the team where they are confident enough to compete yet they aren’t confident enough to seize opportunity and win. When those key moments come around and the lights shine, they wilt.
So, in general, it’s a lot of problems. A lot of it is mental. Some is physical. Some is on the coaches. Some is intangibles like concentration and making the right cuts.
The fix? Time. More recruiting cycles. Recruiting winners who aren’t phased by the moment. Finding a QB who takes 2 steps forward 1 back instead of 1 forward, 2 back (we have a roster of these guys, AKA “backup QBs”).
Coaches need to look in the mirror. McGiven seems like a weak link in his play calling, QB work, and overall player analysis. I’m not totally sure of that assessment, but that’s my early feel on him. Baldwin was a more proven OC and should have gotten another year or two with a real QB. The only thing I like about the play calling this year is there are more straight ahead runs, though I think the trickery last year had to do with a very physically weak OL and trying to make up for StS’s weakness.
It seems as though the opponents game plan should be:
– put a man on every receiver
– put everyone else in the box and fill every gap.
In order for the Beavs to succeed offensively, then they will have to throw because there are too many defenders in the box. This means 5 things have to happen:
1 : Receivers must get separation
2 : QB must have time to progress through reads
3 : QB must recognize an open receiver
4 : QB must deliver the ball on time and on target
5 : Receiver must catch the ball
If you assign a probability to all those 5 things and multiply them all together, you will get the probability of a successful play (assuming they are statistically independent, but just work with me here). If with the current incarnation of Beaver offense each has a 80% probability of success, You end up with an overall 33% probability of success. If I’m a defense, depending on the actual numbers, I may accept the odds and make the OSU passing game beat me. That seems to be what happened against WSU. As far as I can tell all those things need to improve but having a skilled QB will have the best effect. I suppose that’s obvious to the casual observer but it does shed a little light on things.
You end up with an overall 33% probability of success
Which is the same as “one step forward, two steps back”.
More like 3 steps forward and 2 steps back.
I didn’t know there was going to be a math test tonight.
Ballroom dancing.
Recruiting is pretty quiet right now, mostly because we’re in the middle of consecutive road games. Coaches were on the road in Cali this weekend though, in addition to our Stanford road trip.
Keep an eye on Hunter Echols, 4* DE from Cathedral, where OSU commits Arex Flemings and Jeffrey Manning are from, as well as WR prospect Jamire Calvin. He’s a USC commit currently, but I think OSU would love to land a foursome from the undefeated Cathedral team.
Also, all eyes should be on Evina Westbrook. Would be a really nice to land the #2 WBB prospect in the country.
Saw Bendu Yearney out of Portland committed to Indiana. Anyone think that has anything to do with Westbrook coming here?
Timing makes sense
What do u think our chances are on hodgins? I think i might prefer him to calvin just because of his size. We already have a bunch of smaller guys on the team and in this cycle.
As of 2 weeks ago, we were leading, according to someone very close to the process who reached out to me. Nebraska/Oregon/OregonState are battling it out. He’s a December commit due to early graduation, which helps our case I would think, because Oregon’s coaching situation would still likely be up in the air. I also dont think Nebraska is high on the list due to distance.
As for Calvin vs Hodgins, I dont think it’s an either/or situation. We’d find room for both if both were interested. Both would represent the highest rated offensive player for OSU in the GA tenure, if they came here.
Hey don’t get me wrong i want both of them just live hodgins size. That would make a lot of receivers in this class but it seems Andersen is doing to the receiver position what he did to the lb position last cycle. Hopefully will pay off with a more productive passing game next season.
I wonder if villamin will end up transferring?
At this point I hope Villy transfers. He’s become a liability. He used to be good, so I don’t understand the erosion.
Ya i remember thinking after the spring game he was going to have a breakout season. It’s a mystery it doesn’t help that the qbs can’t complete a ball downfield 90% of the time.
I hope he watched the Nebraska game last night. Hehe.
Do u have any idea of how many players they will be taking this year? Also i noticed they don’t have any tight ends yet. I would think that is a position of need. Any good prospects at that position that they might land? Thx.
Need a leader on the offensive side of the ball. Haven’t had one the past couple of years.
OT: Just got a phone rant from my Bro on his layover. Highlights…
First time i was embarrassed to be a Husker…
How can a team be that unprepared…
It was like they were not even trying…….
Historical loss…
Worst third down defense ever..
Mob conspiracies with Youngstown, OH and Pelini LOL. He is losing it.
Hit on Armstrong was out of bounds………uh, no it wasn’t.
EVERY TEAM ALWAYS PLAYS THEIR BEST AGAINST US……..That is the classic Husker fan response.
Welcome to the life of Riley!
looks familiar
rationalizing a loss as a fan of a Riley coached team.
Was it literally a historical loss?
If that’s literal, I’d guess biggest point discrepancy.
Riley is really racking up some history at Nebraska.
Leach did that at T Tech. 70-10 in Bill Callahan’s first year at Nebraska.
Riley was so close. Maybe next time.
“How can a team be that unprepared?”
Man, how many times did we ask that question in the Riley years?
Most weeks
Remember how them just walking out on the field told us what kind of game we were going to get to watch?
Good times….
Your brother was never embarassed by any of Pelini’s antics? I thought that’s why they got rid of him?. Please tell me they didn’t actually think that Riley would be a better coach than Pelini?
He meant by their play. He was plenty embarrassed by Pelini. I loved it!
Question:
Were Riley and Banker standing down by the 20… giggling at each other… as a scoring play ran past them… again?
Golly, there’s nothing wrong with that. I love watching some good pigskin action, players executing… Even if they’re always on the other team!
Shucks, just gotta look at the tape and go back and coach the young men up.
If you have a vid clip, please share.
I don’t remember which game that was. The home blow-outs just sort of meld together now. I think it was a night game. And they were standing on the north end of the bench as a receiver dressed i white caught a ball and ran past them with them paying no mind to him. And the cameraman did a double take.
And sadly, I wasn’t enraged by their work ethic.
This is actually kindof funny. Stupid question to ask the guy who is close to losing his job. How else is he supposed to respond?
————–
I asked Mark Helfrich what he thought about @darrenrovell’s tweet that Phil Knight wants to pay a new HC $10 million. Here’s his response: https://t.co/I2FkSyFFPt

He’s a good sport.
A 12 million dollar buyout would buy me a lot of “good sporty-ness”. I guess you have that competitive pride in top level college coaching, but that’s damn near FU money!
Angry, the beauty of this site is that the majority of the posters are able to separate the results from the process. One has to look beyond the score sometimes to evaluate where a program is at.
Having great experience watching lousy teams “rebuild,” I was pleasantly surprised to see them be competitive at Stanford. There always seems to be a point in this phase following some high effort close losses, where the wheels fall off and the good feelings of the fan base gets swept away in a blowout loss. GA has not lost the team. Still on track for my predicted 4 wins. Go Beavs!
DVR’d the game, is it worth watching? We had glorious 72 degree football weather here, so we hung out late drinking beer and complaining about dumb calls and what ifs.
I really like the fight in this team – they haven’t given up even when all the chips are not in their favor. Props to GA for that. I have a gut feeling the team will get that “A Ha” moment by (or during) the CW where they will complete a full game.
As far as McGiven, I know I’ve stated that his play calling is to blame for a lot of the offensive woes. And I still believe he is partially responsible. But mostly it’s the quality of our QB. The new staff REALLY has to go after a quality passing QB. The offense will flow much better and we won’t be seeing all those 2nd or 3rd and longs which kill the drives as much. It will also attract more of the skill players if they know the QB can get them the ball.
As good as recruiters as they are, I’m surprised they haven’t gotten a quality QB yet. Not sure how it’s difficult to sell the starting QB position for a P5 school. The job is there the taking.
GA has to understand this is a critical recruiting cycle for QB. Otherwise it’ll be the same story next year.
I came across a quote tonight that I think sums up this year’s team, or at least what GA is trying to instill (I think mostly successfully).
Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm. – Winston Churchill
Not that I am suddenly into moral victories. BUT, this mental foundation is very important for when the Beavs finally get the bodies they need.
By that definition, I am very successful thanks to the Beavs and the Gophs. Thanks for sucking.
Imagine having to watch your team give up five goals to a vastly inferior opponent and settle for a tie.
… and then following it up with an egg.
But then beating some new school from Norda Coda…… the Frackers? A bird or something? Never heard of them.
The skatists formerly known as Sue.
I’m sure this is a joke. But if not, he’s not talking about people watching others do something; he’s talking about people who are doing things. Basically if you are excited about something, do it, fail, but come back just as ready and enthused to do it again, then it’s a form of success. Which I agree with. Our players seem excited to go back to practice and get better despite losing games. That’s a great foundation.
I came across it reading a book about the process of practice, trying to help my girlfriend get over the hump on her instrument. It very much applies there, and I think it applies to any practice, tbh.
Have you watched any of the HBO series, State of Play?
I’ve only seen the first episode, Trophy Kids. It was an uncomfortable watch. But they had a discussion with Todd Marinovich afterward that touched on the practice concepts that lead to what was just seen.
No, but that sounds good. I’ll check it out. I’ve mostly been applying this type of stuff to my lady and her pursuit of an instrument. Trying to make her understand what it takes. I have many thoughts on practice (from playing both sports and music). Maybe one day I’ll make a thread about it. Nobody seems to care about those threads, though, and they immediately go off topic and talk nonsense, so I’m not sure it’s worth the time and effort.
I’m trying to gauge my sons interest in guitar at the moment. I bought that Rocksmith game for our Xbox and my 9 year old is kinda digging it. My 6 year old thinks it’s cool but his hands aren’t there yet. I have fun turning it on and playing Ramones and Foo Fighters and shit. It uses a cable that plugs in to your guitar so I get to break out the Les Paul.
What I got out of it was that the joy is removed when an art form is compromised by rote instruction. It isn’t that rote instruction is bad. It’s that pushing it removes the joy of discovery, the point when the student recognizes something is done correctly and repeats good habits for fun.
wax on… wax off
Looking at the historical context, he did intentionally carpet bomb civilian populations, causing a retaliation on London itself. Both of those are major failures as a human.
But if Hitler were not so hell-bent on vengeance for the mass murder of hundreds of thousands of his own citizens–those with whom he most closely identified, if he was capable of such–then rural military installations would have continued to take the barrage that had now been focused on civilians. And the result may have been an even greater mass murderer taking over.
Perhaps Churchill knew what would happen either way and knew the least of two evils could be acceptable if he led his people through it all with an always stoic, albeit sometimes grumpy countenance.
“Hot topics seem to be hoops starting, football recruiting, and what’s wrong with the offense.”
You forgot laughing at #TPB getting Lucy’d in epic fashion :)
Ahhh… those poor bastards. I get it now.
That makes more sense than “the peanut butter.”
Need wins that show up in the standings. The remaining games on paper are winnable though the beavs will be the underdogs in all.
GAs offense will always start and end with the qb. There’s no qb on the roster that’s going to be able to run the offense the way GA wants. And he’s missed in this recruiting cycle so it’s another year of backup qbs.
No GA’s offense will always be whatever his OC makes it. He is virtually hands off on the offensive scheme. Says he’s not an offensive guy. I find that offensive. Seriously. A head coach needs to be able to takeover any delegated coaching role and succeed. This is in and of itself is my major massive issue with GA. Maybe I could live with that if he were a defensive genius that created a team of world beaters. No, instead I’m seeing average defense and zero offense from GA. I like GA. And I want to believe in GA. But when I reflect on reality I see a guy who isn’t hacking it, and taking the lazy approach to his offense. Own that shit GA.
I think we do better when we’re looking at it as a whole. We were conditioned by the last staff to focus on the passing game as our salvation. The O-line became a running joke. We could have hauled in all the four star talents in the world, and half of them would be gone in two years while walk-ons were getting to do bear crawls in practice. We would have continued to have a D-line pieced together from leftover players on offense. And our backers would be biting on misdirection until Monday every week. All it took was having NFL talents at the QB and two receiver positions to make life mediocre. It’s a neat deal. Get a Belitnekoff, and you don’t lose as much.
I think we just lost to the team we want to be. They’re breaking in a new QB, going through his learning curve. And their D is carrying them to what could be a 10-3 season. And this is considered a down year for them. They’re disciplined on both sides. They minimize mistakes and take advantage of opportunities. With their QB that means he just needs to get a couple first downs and get the ball to his playmakers. It kind of means their K needs to make some FGs too.
They’re not going to beat the teams who have great run Ds and can trade FGs for TDs. But they will take advantage of everyone else. They just play their game and see what the score is at the end. More often than not, it’s in their favor.
We don’t need MM to play better than C or C+ if others on the O play to their abilities. We have some guys whose norms could be As or Bs if they just accepted that their QB is a C or C+. That means they will get less opportunity, but they still have to take advantage of those opportunities. If we have Wheaton and Cooks on this team, they wouldn’t be making these mistakes. They would make their 45% QB a 55% QB with some big play ability.
If we’re a 55% O, then we score one on the ground, one through the air (or another on the ground aided by a big play from a receiver) and a FG per half. The whole would be bigger than the sum. But at 45%, we’re inopportune, miss FGs, get no calls our way because we make simpler mistakes at too high a rate… and our D spends more time on the field.
It’s right there. Everyone says it’s right there. We had one half where we played at 75%. Then we figured we could play at 35% to get to our 55% for the game… and accidentally played at 30%.
Oops!
We’ve played some good to great defenses this year. We’ve been pushed around, but we haven’t stopped pushing back. And we seem to have more grit than some of the best out there when it gets late. If this was last year, we’d have been outscored by our opponents’ D by now. And they’d be outscored by their Os. And bad Ds like Cal and Wazzu would look good. So we know we have the pieces to play against good offenses if our O would just put it together and do what they need to do. The big plays take care of themselves if everyone just keeps churning.
I think this is right if part of what I distilled from it is that our passing game needs to be good enough to at least be respected so that the running game can be effective.
While the Stanford QB situation isn’t great or even any better than OSU’s they do have a singular talent at running back and an offensive philosophy that maximizes his gifts. There were a couple of “student body left” plays in the game where CM was running inside a pocket of OL guys and wasn’t touched for 7 yards. He is an extremely patient runner and he is also able to make people miss in a phonebooth. I think they kept the ball for over 12 minutes in the 4th quarter.
The Beavs did do remarkably well, yielding no yards on a couple of 4th downs including a great goal line stand (kudos to Andrzej Hughes-Murray; he looks like he could be a really good player).
I think the Beavs are close.
Just read that Luke Faulk had a 91.4% completion rate last week (32-35). That is crazy! I know it’s a combination of Faulk’s ability, the receivers’ ability, and the play calling. But that is a stat that defenses can’t disregard. I can only imagine what Nall and Pierce could do if defenses had a stat like that in their minds.
Hilinski was 15/17 for 88% completion in garbage time (which I suppose was most of the game).
Maybe garbage time for WSU but I would hope AZ was still fighting, but maybe not. Regardless, 15-17 is damn good also. Either Leach is a genius at finding QBs, or this is more about the receivers and plays. I suppose really shitty defense might play a role also.
Well he was a 67% passer in hs, so accuracy is part if it. Clearly he has a lot of receiver support, but I think it also has a lot to do with crossing routes and being inclined to playzone coverage against them. Just gotta find the soft spots then.
Interesting to read that OSU’s strength of schedule through this point in the season is toughest in the country.
https://twitter.com/CFBMatrix/status/795676637555658752
Not surprising if you look back at who we’ve played- I had a similar post in the last thread.
Schedule’s getting a lot easier in the next few weeks- hopefully we can capitalize!
I seem to remember my strong rebuttal a month or so ago to the Phil Steele fanatic that had our team with an over 100th ranked strength of schedule and using that to justify game prediction.
I didn’t realize Luton has played D1 football already.
http://www.espn.com/college-football/player/stats/_/id/3124900/jake-luton
1TD, 4INT.
Sounds like he will fit in well in GA’s offense.
Well yeah, but he….
nevermind.
Hurdles?
Somersaults?
Yup, you missed my snarky comment a few threads back about GA going after another mid-major QB who couldn’t start for his team.
Luton seems awful on paper. Awful stats at the D1 level, awful INT rate at Juco, awful offer sheet. Perfect OSU QB!
Andersen is going to quickly cement his reputation with QBs, and once you have a reputation, that’s hard to change (at least around these parts), as Riley found out.
You have no idea what the context was for his Idaho stats (or JC stats, for that matter). He could have been playing behind the worst line in the country. Actually, it being Idaho, he probably was.
He lost the job to some other guy. We can look up how that guy did and see if it was the line, etc. I’m too lazy to look up the other guy.
His TD/INT ratio at JUCO is poor, so I guess bad lines follow him around.
He left because Idaho announced they were going FCS. He was recruited as a project by Petrino, who knew he had a solid starter in Matt Linehan… another under-recruited QB who ended up on a Petrino roster… and whose father has had recent success with young QBs.
We’ll just see where he ends up on the depth chart next year. Spring ball should be fun.
Seen a few internet repirts from today’s coach call that GA says if Blount is healthy this week, he will split reps with McM.
Wonder if his will be a situational thing, for running option plays? Or if they just plan to divide the remaining reps to give both guys as much in game experience as possible.
McM must have drawn the short straw this year, getting the start vs UW, WSU and Stanford, but then sharing time or not playing at all in the rest of the games.
I’ve barely seen Blount this year. How does he compare to McM in your opinions?
I fully expect Blount to be the starter once he’s healthy.
Because he’s the better player?, or because he’s not McM and was recruited by the new regime?
They want a reason not to play McM. Blount being healthy gives them that.
Blount looked decent in his first game. I’d watch to see how he does, but I can’t imagine everyone but GA (who sucks with QBs) missed on the guy. GA seems obsessed with finding the new Keaton but also a Falk (low level guy who he missed on). He probably thinks Blount can be Falk.
Because the staff values running ability over throwing ability. I think that’s all it really comes down to.
With Blount’s arm, we absolutely will not pose any threat of hitting vertical routes. I appreciate his running ability, but after a few weeks, I think McM is at least equivalent in his ability to make reads and not force something that isn’t there.
What running ability? Someone above said Blount has run for 4 yards.
He looked like he could move okay, but the numbers don’t back up that he can rush. Also looks like a beanpole who will get killed (he already did, which is why he isn’t playing) if he runs.
Blount played what…two half games? So we really haven’t seen enough of him to form a lot of conclusions.
I saw a guy who was pretty mobile in the pocket but not a great “runner” per se, Not sure why someone said we’d have “no threat of hitting vertical routes” because I recall him being reasonably effective throwing deep. Scattershot accuracy overall, but that’s every OSU QB this year.
I would be surprised if Blount/McM were significantly different in overall effectiveness. I would hope that the extra year in the system would help McM avoid rookie mistakes, and would give him on the nod on those grounds.
What do you think about Garrettson’s future, some seem to forget he is just a junior and will be back next season (I’m assuming). I think GA likes his toughness, so I’m guessing he will be in he mix again.
He played well game 1. Maybe he was hurt after that?
That’s his best argument to be in the mix.
Personally I have no idea if game 1 was an aberration or not. That’s the problem with this entire situation. So many moving parts and circumstance that it’s hard to conclude anything.
GA did not miss on Falk. Falk is a product of Logan High School in Utah. Falk was friends with GA’s kids. Falk spent afternoons at GA’s home. Cant see how we can fault GA for a miss on Falk.
GA has said he should have offered Falk.
He probably would have offered him had he stayed at Utah State. And you would be whining about MM not getting a fair shake from Brady Hoke… who obviously favors LDR and NM because the moon landing was faked.
In practice or games?
Blount has 12 rushes for 4 yards. This would be a horrible idea IMO. Stick with McM and continue to run your offense. Eventually the QB run will improve. Eventhough I think he has looked tentative in the run game, he is the best option statistically (running and passing) and its not even close. What is the benefit floating that comment out there?
Additionally, you will completely undermine any confidence McM has gained.
I doubt GA and the staff give two shits about McM’s confidence at this point. He fell into the job because of injuries and right or wrong he will plummet to the bottom of the depth chart next season (if he doesn’t transfer).
Perhaps that is true and Angry has been spot on the whole time. I will need to drink some beer and work on my cynicism so I can keep up apparently.
You choose to accept and dismiss all this based on what?
If you have some inside info that contradicts the actual statements of the coaches and players and proves that what you see on the field is not what it is, then out with it. I’m getting tired of the rote shade thrown about. Either mix in some other paranoid kookiness to keep it lively, or just write, “Same thing I wrote last week,” and be done with it.
All that being said, Blount should only be used as he has, to fill in while MM gathers himself during the third quarter, when he just can’t figure out adjustments quickly enough. Blount’s mistakes are catastrophic. Have him come in and run a series while MM can take a look at the D as a third party and figure it out from there.
McM won’t be at OSU next year. I’d bet good money on that.
I also fully expect Garretson to be the starter next September with the only real competition potentially coming from the JUCO kid. But I’d place a significantly smaller wager that its Garretson who makes the start vs. Portland State.
Yeah… idk about Garretson. He’s what Moevao was to Canfield, except we have no Canfield.
Agree. Why would he stick around?
I think the goal is to maximize the number of available scholarships this cycle, and making thing uncomfortable for guys who are most likely not long term fits and transfer candidates seems to have been the plan from day 1.
Im cool with that mcm is very inconsistent so why not see what we have in Blount.
On a side note, I’d recommend anyone using Apple products to stop:
http://motherboard.vice.com/read/new-macbook-pros-mark-the-end-of-upgradeable-apple-computers?utm_source=mbfb
That’s horrendous.
Why would people thumb this down? You LIKE not being able to upgrade your computer’s components and filling up landfills with perfectly good computers? Lol.
Apple fanboi downvote brigade.
I meant to upvote you but clicked the wrong icon…
Anyway, I’ll never use apple or buy anything apple. I remember 1984, the iconic superbowl ad. Where the rogue warrior runs through the legion of blue suited zombies that are bowing at the demigod on the screen; to throw the hammer that shatters the screen.
Well, Apple has become that legion of zombies, bowing to the demigod on the screen. They’re just wearing flannel and birkenstocks instead of blue suits.,
Sorry, this is a bit of a peeve of mine. So, back to regular talk of quarterbacks and McGivens (which could be some kind of burger or sausage sandwich).
But they’re “thinking differently” while they become that which they rued….
Have you seen the version where the woman is wearing earbuds when she runs in and throws the hammer? The hypocrisy would be delicious if it were more broadly appreciated…
There are so many reasons not to buy Apple products. Just add it to the list.
http://davidamerland.com/seo-blog/786-nine-reasons-you-should-boycott-apple.html
I am surprised they don’t list #10 with Apple basing it’s “HQ” in Ireland to avoid paying taxes. Not unique to Apple, but still anther reason.
I’ve always been a fan of Jonathan Ives designs, and when I first got an apple years ago I thought the OS and many of the programs were more intuitive than Windows. There’s less focus on the OS (phone OS excepted), and more focus on first iPods and then the iPhone when the phone/pod conflated functions.
All I really care about in a computer anymore is using Lightroom, some photoshop, and the internet. An inexpensive windows machine can do that.
I can’t blame them for doing that. It’s an intentionally allowed practice. The flat-earthers think they know best. But they never tell us their model isn’t sustainable. They can claim fungibility, but they can’t claim sustainability.
Wow! I didn’t know you could upgrade a MacBook before. Then again, I have a grand total of one Apple product, and it’s sitting in a box collecting dust.
I won an iPad about five years ago in a raffle. It fell apart within two months of normal use. Their customer service es muy fuerte. I never liked their interface. They cost too much. They make Nike look good when comparing labor practices.
And I had zero compatible parts or chassis to reuse tech. I intentionally left it unsupervised in public one day and watched as some yuppie dood snagged it and walked away with it.
Poor guy. I can guarantee he had very little fun if the first thing he did was run a diagnostic. These are my little joys.
“I won an iPad about five years ago in a raffle. It fell apart within two months of normal use”
So you’re bitching about the quality of something you got for less than full price? Dear Drew Carey, I am writing to complain to you about the lack of quality of the Chevy Cobalt I won on the price is right game show………….
Did you also own a samsung smart phone recently that caught on fire?
Who’s bitching? These are just the things that happened to that particular item while it was in my life. It’s the only Apple story I have. I only gave the reasons I had for not even bothering to research a purchase of any of their products. Honestly, I would never get past the price with them. I could get twice the tech for their prices. But if they were reasonably priced, the others would be valid reasons to disrespect their brand.
Do you do any research before your purchases?
After a good start to the season, Garrett Owens has struggled to get field goal attempts through the crossbars.
Owens has made two of his last seven tries, starting with two misses against Utah.
Andersen said there will be competition this week and redshirt freshman Jordan Choukair will be in the mix. Andersen wants kickoff specialist Adley Rutschman to stick with that job for now.
“Jordan will kick a few this week and we’ll see where it goes,” Andersen said. “I think Adley is in a good spot where he is, kicking kickoffs. I think that’s fair to Adley right now and then his development as a young player and overloading someone in a position of saying now you’re going to go out there and kick field goals off the grass, which has not been his deal when he was in high school, he was kicking off a tee. Now, he’s practicing off the grass and he’s done a fairly good job but I don’t think it’s time for Adley to go out there a kick a Division I field goal in the moment.
“Jordan can be in that spot to contend and he’ll get some kicks this week and he did get some last week. So we’ll see how the week goes forward.”

I disagree with this theory. I believe when you have a trade, you learn everything about that trade. Just kick kick kick things. That’s my opinion. When coaching throws in Track it’s throw throw throw, bowling pins, rocks, car radios, the implements etc. Don’t see how that is different in kicking.
Owens has been hot garbage. Fact
It’s because Rutschman was recruited by Casey.
Can he use a bat?
You will get to see… probably live.
This sounds familiar……
http://www.omaha.com/huskers/football/husker-notes-identity-runs-could-help-attack-get-going/article_8f562d95-c433-5c2c-8f1a-167b1ab23e05.html
Oh FFS. Done with hearing about a team finding it’s “identity”. Does Simple Jack have a trademark on that phrase where he makes a buck every time it’s used or written?
It has to be the talks with Osborne that have made him combine the perpetual longing for some future run game and finding an identity. This is a marked improvement from the, “Well… we would like to maybe run for 1800 yards this year… if we’re going to expect to be any good… and maybe we’ll find our identity,” crap we always heard.
It is funny that he uses all the same language, though.
Even more familiar is this from MR’s presser after Ohio…….
Riley says they need to find how they can run the ball consistently. “It’s about getting back to a balanced performance.”
Holy shit, broken record. It always killed me to hear our head coach say “I wish we would have ran the ball more.” WTF? You’re the Head Coach! Don’t wish it, f’ing demand it!
OSU has the #1 strength of schedule AND the #1 elusive running back in the nation in Nall:

On the topic of defense, it looks like Hughes-Murray could be a good one. I think in two years, maybe even next season, this D is going to be very fun to watch.
Didn’t we have a post a while back about listing who we thought the five players of the future were going to be from this current roster?
I seem to remember it breaking down almost immediately because of some other snarky undercurrent at the time. But some people got their lists in.
I think this post is a good place to revive that. Shemar Smith,Joah Robinett, Aydon. Hughes-Murray, Bright Ubwoegbu, Jalen Moore (future LB)…Crawford at CB, Jay Irvine…is anyone hearing about Brentley at CB in practice? 5′ 11″ sophomore…
Olive seems to have missed Brentley’s story. Is he a transfer from the Bobcats?
Which Bobcats?
ohio
http://www.ohiobobcats.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/julian_brentley_923284.html
The defense is going to be so good starting next year.
Points of concern are OL and QB. Really hoping Delp and Fifita can get up to speed. I’m sure Yanni will continue to improve. Be really nice to get a blue chip JC who can come right in and start.
And I guess QB play can do nothing but Improve.
2017 is getting exciting.
It would be sweet if they could pull Evans and Nixon as a package deal out of Juco too.
In case anyone is interested in seeing the Fall 2016 enrollment report for OSU: http://oregonstate.edu/admin/aa/ir/sites/default/files/enroll-fall-2016.pdf
Anybody know wtf happened with happened with andrew nemec and ronnie rust last night?
Looks like some tweets got deleted, but they seemed to have a blowup over something.
Somebody must not have liked their arbitrary recruiting ranking vs in state peers.
And a Nemec probably would have been better off biting his lip.
Nemec is an asshole and I have firsthand knowledge that he has went too deep into getting emotionally involved in recruiting and costing a certain school a kid. He should not be a journalist involved in recruiting – period. HS athletes should avoid talking to him and coaches (if they have not already) should fire a warning shot at him to knock his BS off.
C’mon, you’re leaving us hanging. At least tell us which school lost out on a recruit.
Leaving us hanging? – That’s the way BO rolls, remember the court cases provided recently?
I chalk it up to him being young and not being able to separate his professional life from his personal life. And he has a mandate to professionally troll for clicks. So there’s that.
More Nemec controversy. High school feeling slighted by their ranking. So much drama….
https://twitter.com/KeanonLowe/status/796052462306086913
Did you read the thread? Pretty dopey all around. Someones brothers angry Nemac listed him as a 4* and the 7th best player in the state when the dude feels his brother is #1.
Place this under the who cares category.
Gina Mizell tweeted a quote by Gary Andersen yesterday and I wanted to get some opinions on it.
“Gary Andersen on Oregon State offense: “The deficiencies in the run game are because of the deficiencies in the throw game. Period.”
https://twitter.com/ginamizell/status/795778771848597504
Can someone explain the reasoning why the run game has a deficiency because of the throw game? To me it just sounds like another way of throwing McM under the bus.
Sounds more like a shot at his offensive coordinator. The throwing game has never been good since GA arrived, but has been it’s best with McM throwing.
Defenses dont respect our passing game and can load the box to stop the run.
Honestly if we had any semblance of a passing game our run game would be unstoppable.
Probably pissed that the passing game doesn’t even really need to be good, but if it was at least respectable we’d have 2-3 more wins against the toughest schedule in the country.
That’s the sense I get. Everyone has the capabilities (not even the potential) to do what they can do, but everyone has the yips.
Time for a popsicle fight!
Don’t think that’s a shot at McM at all. Outside of Bolden our WRs have been garbage. Pass protection has been spotty as well. And don’t forget – though he’s been flawed, McM represents an obvious upgrade to the passing game vs the other two QBs.
Actually, the WR’s are quite dangerous. Have you seen SC’s ball security?
How about Blount playing this Saturday? The approach seems more like a tryout than a strategic, 2-qb system. I don’t think Blount has shown enough throwing that he’s going to improve the passing game has he?
http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2016/11/marcus_mcmaryion_conor_blount.html#incart_river_index
Wow!
There’s someone in the comments who thinks MM ran the ball in HS. Where do people get these ideas in their heads? He was a pocket passer who ran a little bit more than any of Mannion, Canfield, not Moore… but yes, DA. IIRC, he had a good junior year then regressed his senior year. I think that had to do with playmakers being gone or something.
His highlight video displayed good running skills which may be misleading because it’s just a small sample of his high school career. I think that’s why people think it’s a bigger part of his game.
“I don’t think Blount has shown enough throwing that he’s going to improve the passing game has he?”
No, but he played pretty solid against Boise State. He played poorly against Colorado, but we had a whole range of problems that day. I think it’s worth checking to see if he can string together some passes.
The O-live article has it:
But I don’t believe it’s this plainly stated consistent message that makes sense. I think it’s because it’s November, and someone shaved.
Did moevao shave? That’s really going to affect his leadership.
I hope you two are talking about beards.
Yeah… Beaver beards.
What did you think we were talking about?
“…it’s November and somebody shaved.”
Classic…
If you can’t complete a pass, your opponent stacks the box and stuffs the run, simple as that. We need to complete passes and haven’t been able to all year.
It’s not throwing McMaryion under the bus, it’s holding the play calling, the offensive line, the receivers and ALL the quarterbacks to a high level of accountability for the lack of a passing game.
Anderson sounds pissed and in a bad mode over the offense. I like it. No aw shacks golly gee Anderson here. I think he isn’t fond of McM’s tendancy to the passive side… I think it is more personalities collide versus he doesn’t think McM is worth a damn. He likes guys with that moxy about them out there. All in all I like having Anderson at the helm so far… way better then having 62-3 Riley and company.
Hey. I like the sound of this. I hope it’s true. Would be better if GA&co are down on McM not for ability but for ho hum handling of business.
Let’s not forget that GA and his buddies lost 59-0 to tOSU in the Big 10 Championship game two years ago.
Was he on the sideline smiling?
Good point!
I don’t forget it. That was a great day in Beaver football history.
Predictions for the upcoming bball season,
1. Non conference – 11- 3. A few tough road games at Nevada, Tulsa and Miss St. Wins there would really boost the RPI.
2. Conference – 10-8. Only play Arizona once and it’s at home.
3. NCAA bound again. Double digit seed.
Too bad Cam Oliver didn’t come here after the coaching change. CR certainly knew how to recruit. He would have been a great fit here.
I love Oliver’s game. He’s fun to watch.
Did Oliver not come because of the staff or grades? I thought I read somewhere it was grades.
I think it was grades. It was something like Berto that he was able to clean up by not enrolling. And Tinks was hot on Kone, while Musselman was already on him. The teams in the Pac that didn’t big time him weren’t going to beat out Nevada. He’ll do well in that system. I’m happy it worked out for him.
Don’t know if Eggers latest has been posted, here’s the link:
http://portlandtribune.com/pt/12-sports/330952-210143-going-in-the-right-direction
A few takaways:
-Bright out for the year.
-Andersen says of the D, They’re getting a little bit of an identity.”
-GA hints that the avocado kid may be used more in the pass O.
-GA says he “might” throw Blount in for a series or two……not as definite as other reports.
-McM with a couple good lines as well.
Bright out? That’s rough.

The Huskers are building an “Armstrong is injured” excuse for Riley.
Those poor bastards next year when they break in a new QB. They have yet to learn the new QB takes at least two years in Riley’s system.
By then they’ll have built a “Riley’s playbook is really complex” excuse. And when that is no longer valid, and he has a good team, he won’t be able to coach his way through a season where the schedule is actually tough.
We used to be the poor bastards. It was a neat deal.
Danny up with injury report, while Eggers said Bright was “feared lost for the season”, Danny reports only that Bright has been in a boot all week.
Some fairly good news: Failauga and Joah Robinette are up to “doubtful” so,maybe, they’ll be available for AZ and hole.
As usual…….Nall is listed as questionable.
http://media.oregonlive.com/beavers_impact/photo/oregon-state-injury-report-uclapng-0f306cee0c51ac69.png
Nall should change the nameplate on his back to “Questionable” and go with #50. Dude is always banged up and/or never quite healed.
Nall hit the back of his head pretty hard in the last game, so we can add concussion potential to the list.
All hail Grand Moff Trump!
This is what happens when people (Dems) try to get control freak on others. Enjoy the backlash you guys created, Dems.
Your post not supporting Hillary clearly shows you are a racist, xenophobic, sexist, misogynistic, uneducated, ignorant, bigoted piece of scum.
I know, I read that in the Huffington Post so it must be true.
Link?
And I’m not busting balls here. I was a supporter of Bernie. So I know what the forums were like. I think the how of the primary win is possibly what cost her tonight. This win flies in the face of merit.
But do you have a link that says what you just wrote?
Yes.
http://www.politico.com/blogs/on-media/2016/11/the-huffington-post-ending-its-editors-note-about-donald-trump-231044
Wow.
I’ve read at least three HuffPo articles in the last six months, and I haven’t seen that before.
But it doesn’t say what is said above. And it is true. So I’m not sure why they should take it down, pretenses of a clean slate or not.
What control freakiness do you speak of? Did they going to ban a whole religion?
I am immensely enjoying this. The country will go bankrupt much more quickly than it would have previously, and we’ll likely be out of depression before I retire, setting up my golden years. With the Reagan clone it would have been drawn out with several scandals and asset bubbles stretching on long after I would have lived. Since the SCOTUS has been the real
Plus… I get to laugh my ass off whenever he speaks. He makes idiot boy look like Stephen Hawking.
And as I watch him speak, I see he’s already reneging on putting HRC in prison. What a lying wuss.
That’s the exact hatred and shaming I’m talking about. ^
It doesn’t work, so the Dems will have to rethink things.
What hating and shaming? He’s a dolt. Do you have evidence to the contrary?
I know you’re not talking about predictions of economics since Trump made claims like this at one-hundred times the rate anyone else did. So that’s moot.
Do you think he’s an intelligent person? Because he’s not.
And I’m not saying you’re wrong about the Dems. HRC did play the woman card. They made an actual card and laughed about it. It completely made me say, “meh.”
But what they need to rethink is who they think they are. They just ran someone who is slightly to the right of Ronald Reagan.
And they have it easy. The soap opera that will be the GOP for the next four years will be so very much fun to watch.
Plus… I get to laugh my ass off whenever he speaks. He makes idiot boy look like Stephen Hawking.
This ^.
Very negative and it implies anyone who supports him is stupid. So many people on FB/Twitter tonight had that same sentiment, going further and making the illogical conclusion that anyone who supported Trump is a racist, etc. Then they claim to be intelligent, tolerant lefties. It doesn’t add up. As an independent, it pushed me away fast.
I don’t know if he’s intelligent or not, but he was smart enough to win a landslide as a huge underdog, so he’s at least savvy. I have to imagine he’s smart, just not the most articulate.
Anyway, I had enough politics for the day. I understand why people are nervous (and it’s legit), but the guy does have high expectations for himself and people around him, so let’s see if he can parlay that into public life. I’m cautiously optimistic he can improve the economy.
Or maybe you think he’s a man of his word?
If you think that, I’ve got a great price on an island in some swampland in Florida that I think you might be uniquely qualified to buy. Did I say a great price? It will be a great great price. It will be a better price than any price ever.
And I’m not saying you’re wrong about the Dems. HRC did play the woman card. They made an actual card and laughed about it. It completely made me say, “meh.”
Yeah. It was transparent.
They lost independent votes like mine, and it seems like all those 3rd party votes swung the election. Their hoard of twitter shamers put me over the edge. Every liberal I’m friends with is whining on FB, calling Americans idiots, shaming, and making illogical conclusions that people who voted Trump are racists, sexists, etc. They’re the most negative people I’ve seen. It’s a nightmare to read. People say AB is negative?! I disagree! My FB wall…now that’s negative.
The delivery may be negative. It’s very very very very very very far from how negative he himself has been. It’s not even a drop in the ocean of his negativity up to now.
And I honestly don’t know what the hell anyone supports if they support him. Can you tell me anything he’s going to do beyond maybe getting rid of Obamacare, which I don’t really mind?
I’ve got one for you. I predict Social Security, the most efficient and successful program in our nation’s history and an insurance policy that truly made and continues to make this country great, will be dumped for a privatisation scheme which looks and smells and walks a whole bunch like Obamacare. Dems will likely filibuster it. But you will see legislation almost precisely resembling what I describe. And it will be sold as something great… super super beyond super great even.
Btw… this is not a landslide. He didn’t even win the popular vote. He won because of the electoral system… that he says is rigged and should be done away with.
And let’s be fair to him for a second. There are some bubbles that will be bursting at times over the next couple decades. Some are built in no matter what happened tonight. I can’t wait to hear the whining when interest rates are raised in December. It looks like it won’t affect the markets much since they’re opening in the tank this morning.
Now would be the perfect time to own gold.
And I have to giggle that you are playing ignorant on everything from poor body language to a highly limited vocabulary… to the serial lying or the poorly stated bile spat upon minorities and women. Why? Do you not have the skills to assess someone based on these parameters?
Now… if you support him because he’s just going to blow shit up, more power to you. That’s what I like about this. Shit’s going to blow up bigly.
But it’s all good. It will all be the fault of someone born in Nairobi, Kenya… when Nairobi wasn’t in Kenya.
This thread is a very interesting read:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Political_Revolution/comments/5byomn/well_bernie_supports_you_were_right/
He won the popular vote, btw.
I think people voted for him to take out aggression on their fellow citizens (why I said the shaming was so dangerous and unsuccessful). This was a Civil War that played out in the ballot box.
If you don’t see the parallels between this election and Napoleon v. Snowball, then I don’t know what you see. But at least Napoleon had the balls to back up what he said. Trump was saying less than 24 hours ago that he would set the dogs on HRC after he won.
Can you tell me what Trump’s policy positions are? He said in his acceptance speech that he’s going to spend a lot of money. And I guess he’s going to do that by doubling the economy… however he’s going to do that.
Do you support these ideas? Or do you think he waffles more than Bubba ever did, and his followers are a cult of personality?
Sorry. He doesn’t get to pivot now and ask the nation to unite. The stupid and vile things he said and did to get what he wants are his to own. He can go fuck himself and the horse he rode in on.
And he will do just that… starting with the horse. If you’re the horse, don’t expect help from me. Expect another generation of I-told-you-sos. The US will resemble Kansas rather quickly, and his sycophants will tell you how to think about it.
Heh heh…
Trump wins this election with less votes than “Loser Romney” got in a down year.
And numbers are still trickling in, but she has won the popular vote so far.
Now that you state context, I guess I can see where you’re coming from. But come on. The dude is a fruity fruit fly in the brains department. I don’t know how that can be stated positively any more than saying -5=-5 is positive. If you admit truth, why does subjectivity come into play?
Regarding what I think of people who voted for either of the two main characters, I think they are all stupid. Some had selfish monetary reasons for voting for either. But that doesn’t make their votes any less stupid. With HRC, it was possible to stave off economic ruin because I expected Congress to continue doing less work than their mythical welfare queens. But Trump won’t get past his first bad review without blowing shit up. I don’t think he’s smart enough to make it through Christmas without doing so.
You can add behaving like spoiled children when they don’t get their way. Funny, I don’t recall any protesting, rioting or setting shit on fire in 2008 or 2012
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/protests-erupt-donald-trumps-presidential-projection/story?id=43413322
Yes. That whole birther thing was nothing of consequence. NOBODY questioned 2008.
Right?
Fuck me! Is there not a brain cell firing there?
My country just elected a guy who promised shit would get blown up, and you’re surprised when shit get blown up?
Get used to it. It’s going to get a lot worse.
And don’t think the Dems aren’t complicit. They ran the one person who could lose to a cross between a Clinton, a Kardashian and Sandusky. I’m thinking we may have just paved the way for Kanye West to waltz in and become the next prez.
Might as well.

Jack, you’re sounding completely like a whining Democrat. I feel bad for you.
Don’t.
They’ve been calling me a right wing conspiracy parrot for almost a year now. The change is welcome.
And don’t think I go around talking politics with Trump supporters in public. They just turn all red-face and get mad when I ask them simple questions. God forbid you don’t have their God, who forbids! NIMBY is only performed by people who do yoga and sip lattes. And when asked whose economic policies forced households to get a second job to get by and used that employment data as proof of economic growth, they trot out the you’re-just-a-know-it-all defense mechanisms… in a conversation they started with excited certainty.
That gets boring fast.
Oh… and don’t pretend there wouldn’t be crosses, cars and couches burning in the Ohio River Valley if it went the other way… unless you believe the people who voted for Trump are liars.
I don’t recall any of that happening when a black man was elected president. Twice. But you also probably believe that the person responsible for setting fire to a black church in the south and writing Vote Trump all over it was done by a Trump supporter. If that’s the case I have a bridge you might be interested in.
Look, we get it. You’re butthurt. Many people are today. I’m on neither side of the winner or loser from last night. I didn’t believe in either of them and as previously stated cannot stand liberals nor hardcore conservative christians. But the same doom and gloom was predicted by the other side in 2008 and 2012. I can honestly say this though. I am far worse off than I was 4 or 8 years ago. Things may be all hunky dory for those of you that reside in larger metropolitan areas. But for those of us in smaller communities? The middle, working class? The results from last night proved just that. Many people have had enough of the status quo but that’s not the only reason Trump pulled off a victory. Try getting out of the city for once and actually looking around or talking to people. But you’ll never do that because like most true liberals you believe that you’re more educated, smarter and know whats better for everyone else. It would be painful for you to actually talk to people without thinking they’re beneath you, huh? As angry stated above. Stop going all control freak on everyone. It’s actually some pretty sound advice.
I’m not butthurt. I’m amped.
My life won’t change because of this. I’m financially set for all contingencies. But if you thought you were fucked before, you’re really fucked now. And that makes me angry.
And now we have to deal with a rapey fraud leading the free world. I still think the man is a laugh riot whenever he speaks. I can’t help it. But I’m also not surprised too much. I’ve been following Andrew Sullivan for quite a while. He had a great piece in the spring about how Plato was relevant to this election.
Oh… and no shit things didn’t blow up in 2008 and 2012, Sherlock! None of those candidates were promising to blow shit up. Derp.
Ugh!
I just read the rest of your post, whiskey.
City? Working class? Huh?
I do like the triple-you’re-a-know-it-all sentence. That’s funny.
So tell me, what economic fallout do you expect from this? I’m willing to listen to what you think. I can also give you feedback that doesn’t sound like a bad country song… written to the tune of some 70’s pop song, as they are nowadays.
Did you get any sleep last night?
*as pointed out to me… he’s not a rapey fraud, and I was wrong to say so.
He’s an admitted sexual assaulty fraud.
Here’s some food for thought Jack. Last thing I am going to type about this political shit show. Please read and take this to heart without any preconceived notions.
What you think, what you know and what you think you know? Are three vastly different things
You’re going to have to rewrite that. Are you asking a question, or are you telling me what you think I think, know and think I know?
Look. You may have had no skin in the game.
But don’t tell me the people who really truly thought HRC was going to repeal the 2nd Amendment, let alone the ones who think that type of thing has a snowball’s chance in hell of ever passing in this country, wouldn’t have actually killed people by now if she were elected. I saw what happened on April 20, 1995.
And don’t pretend I’m saying their are only two type of people. But there are two types of extremes in this equation, and they would play out like this if they perceive duress:
1. SJWs — whine and cry and march in the streets and maybe go hide in their safe zones
2. People who say they’re going to blow shit up — blow shit up and kill people
*thar
Why is he playing You can’t always get what you want?
As an aside, does anyone else scratch their head when the current car commercial featuring Eminence Front comes on?
I had the same reaction to that commercial. Do they actually know what that song means?
I don’t think they do.
But I think Daltry and Townshend gladly take their money while they do it.
It makes me question why I would ever buy that brand.
Now that we’re seeing these numbers, the question that needs to be asked is:
How does a sitting prez suppress the vote like he did in this cycle? He can’t do it as the outsider.
I would cave in Jack’s beak, break his jaw, and kidney punch his feeble crying ass right out the ring!
No you wouldn’t. In fact, today I would take your sorry little ass up on what you think but can’t produce. I would have you crying like the teenage girls Trump and Epstein drugged and raped. And then I would make it up to you by taking your money and any financial aid you can get from public dollars and pretend to give you an education.
Meet the new boss, same as everything stereotypically bad in every coked up and entitled rich Biff ass hole.
I was prepared to be really really grumpy for four years. Now I’m rearing up to raise hell for the four months Trump thinks he runs the country before he’s impeached and Pence takes over.
Wow that sounds really scary.
Did you really stay up all night?
There’s much butthurt in the United States today. There would also be just as much butthurt had Hillary won but no one would be protesting, blocking traffic and making life miserable for working class people causing them to be late to work. You know the ones that don’t protest because they aren’t allergic to actually working.
So you do believe the people who voted for Trump are liars.
How do you know?
I feel for any marginalized group today, bigotry and nativism won. Let’s see what the mofos can do
Today SJW stands for Salty Justice Whiners.
Without their blatant hypocrisy and incessant condescension, I doubt a joke of a candidate like The Don could have won. Trump gave the people tired of the hyper-PC and “VOTE FOR ME BECAUSE I’M A WOMAN” getting shoved down their throats an opportunity to voice a collective Fuck You, and they turned out at the polls to do so.
Oh, and also the corrupt DNC rigging the primary for the one candidate Trump could actually beat. I see they’re taking a massive heaping of blame today.
The whole thing is amazing, really. Interesting times ahead.
You have it correct on the second part. Trump did everything he could to suppress the vote. And the Dems did the same but pretended they didn’t.
http://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2016/11/9/13573904/voter-turnout-2016-donald-trump
There was no outpouring or collective Fuck You from the Catcher in the Rye crowd. Even their vote was suppressed. The collective Fuck You came from the vote suppression in the Dem Primary. HRC’s sycophants told us to get on board or go fuck ourselves, so we said fine. Most of us were left with our dicks in our hands when they moved right of center 20 years ago anyway. They get what they deserve.
So yes, it’s a good thing that the loser is the one who blows up. I think American women were spared a Thatcher-like legacy for the one who would have won. I don’t know why they didn’t see that.
But the flip side is that we got someone ten times worse than her in every single facet you can think of when breaking her down.
I doubt he politically survives one term before the GOP pulls the football away from him. Hell, two years is more than I’m willing to bet on him. He’s the first prez who I think is dumber than the people who voted for him.
And why salty?
Are the people you’re talking about seafarers?
Just so you know I know you think Trump supporters are liars.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/10/28/donald-trump-supporters-warn-of-another-revolutionary-war-if-hil/
Those are the cheap shots. There are many that are much much worse. On the lighter side, there was one guy (in West Virginia I think) that would have blocked a McDonald’s drive-thru… before he went off to join the militia.
Nah… I got a couple hours of sleep.
I’m amped right now. In protesting everything that has working people economically subjugated, working people have given the keys back to the people whose failed policies created the conditions where working peoples are economically subjugated.
When OPEC ties oil to the yuan, are people going to blame global warming on the Chinese?
http://www.cnbcafrica.com/news/financial/2016/11/09/opec-job-has-just-become-tougher-with-trump-win/
And you can kiss your favorite hunting, fishing and hiking lands good-bye. Those will be gifted to all the working class families who can afford to grease Congress for oil and gas exploration and leasing rights. Because working class families are the ones who benefit from those policies… always.
Wow, such sour grapes from my AB idol!
Damn!!
Just the cream in my coffee for today. I’ve decided to avoid some other blogs because the urge to say, “I told you so,” is too great. And that would be useless.
http://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2016/11/9/13572172/donald-trump-white-working-class
These policies don’t care about geography. And we know what they will do. We’ve had to recover from them more than a couple times in the last couple decades. Now that we’re eight years removed from the last one, we’re supposed to be ready to double down on it this time? Hell, the people who are now in charge are the ones who didn’t let all the bad juju from those failed policies go away these last eight years. They even said so… out loud.
I don’t know what kind of dissonance it takes to justify all this.
Yeah… maybe it won’t turn out the same as it always turns out this time… because we get to blow shit up this time! Who cares if it’s all our shit? Blow it up!
And let’s hire the guy who is in multiple court cases for racketeering, fraud and raping a child with another good friend and convicted child-rapist.
Is he in a court case for child rape? I thought I read the girl/woman was effectively scared into dropping charges.
You may be right. There was one who was 13, and another who was 17. The 13 y.o. was an Epstein victim. The 17 y.o.’s case was never a court case, just a s/he said that quietly went away.
Thanks. I need to keep it on point.
So… racketeering and fraud isn’t bad enough?
Bill Belichick sounds audibly shaken.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000736477/article/bill-belichick-note-to-donald-trump-not-about-politics
Patriot haters might get a bonus in the “shit’s blowing up” category.
I’m having fun imagining Trump’s new cabinet today. Here are my guesses for three of them.
Secretary of Transportation: Chris Christie
HUD and Veterans: Why… the Donald himself. Just like a head coach who takes on a coordinator role, the guy who is more bigly than anyone else at these two needs to take care of them. Besides, he can save that cap space and spend it somewhere else.
Executive Vice President* in charge of 9/11 (formerly Homeland Security): Rudy Giuliani
*all cabinet titles will be changed from Secretary to Executive Vice President, except for Transportation. Chris Christie is a name that sounds like a pussy. And he’s fat. He’s a fat pussy. He can be a secretary.
More names for you to consider. Palin for vice pres of interior?
https://www.buzzfeed.com/johnstanton/secretary-of-education-ben-carson-heres-a-list-potential-tru?utm_term=.gddLvalEJ#.ufGdmN3QV
Damn!
I thought you were kidding. You would have to have a second person on call for when she quits.
Ben Carson… Surgeon General?
Think about it.
I also read some serious (I hope flawed) articles naming John Bolton for State and Roger Ailes as Chief of Staff.
Pussy grabbers unite?
I don’t know how I missed them.
Chief of Staff: Roger Ailes – The humor writes itself.
Assistant to the President for Communications – Sean Hannity – Because let’s face it, he’s a bitch. Who better to fill the position responsible for softening Trump’s balls?
Power Rankings have been updated.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1l2T3pgiHk1WKiNvQZUzWzWYR3Oo5HoBxrxcCbnl2LcY/edit#gid=27
Thank you all “REAL” Americans.
This is why I think what we saw last night was a Civil War fought at the ballot box.
When I placed my vote, and it was anti Clinton, I felt joy sticking it to those people who crammed the SJW stuff down my throat for years. That was a factor. The emails and her personality were bigger factors.
That being said, I’m nervous with such an unstable and angry person with access to nukes. This is like the “mentally ill gun nut” guy on steroids.
It’s not like he has an app on his phone where he can just tell Siri to launch the nukes because his oatmeal was cold.
The nukes are the least of our problems. That was always a shallow scare tactic. There are benchmarks in place which can not be met by one man’s nutty whims.
And it wasn’t a CW at the polls. Nobody showed up to the polls. You do realize that he comes in second to last in vote totals for every major party candidate since 2004… do you not? And last place isn’t even his opponent.
If that’s a protest, what do you call slumber parties?
Nobody showed up to the polls? Voter turnout projections are roughly on par with 2012 and 2000. So it was about the same as half of the elections this century.
They’re more than 2000 and on par with 2004… less than 2012. And they’re much less than any of them when comparing them to their primary turnouts. Those aren’t exactly beacons for non-suppressive votes. We get to compare this election to the one where a conservatively compassionate (and drunk) war-profiteer beat a swiftboat.
I don’t even want to talk about the 2000 election until someone can explain to me how a heavily GOP precinct in Florida voted ~70% Nader, ~45% Gore and ~0% idiot boy.
And you have to do it without indicting Diebold.
So I was curious to see how the stock market reacted today. Interesting to say the least, and this nugget might be most interesting: “One of the more curious results of Tuesday’s Presidential Election is the explosive breakouts at for-profit prison companies Corrections Corporation of America.”
This map (18-25 year old vote) is also floating around twitter: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Cw0WxbZUoAA0tXo.jpg
So, it seems we’ll get four years of something bordering on Fascism, then the Millennials (if they get out and vote) will turn things blue for a very very long time. The oscillation of extremes is not a good sign. The best path forms naturally, so I view neither of these movements as particularly positive.
“May you live in interesting times.” — Buddhist Proverb
They just need to put a Walking Dead marathon on election day in 4 years to keep the millenials away from the voting booth.
That’s what I was saying last night. The bright side is that we get to watch the GOP blow everything up. Then we won’t have to create another piecemeal corporate give-away economy posing as legislative crap.
The real schadenfreude, besides the inevitable doom of the GOP, is that I and others remember how HRC and Bubba rode a clear mandate for medicare for all into the White House and screwed it all up with their third way garbage.
And that’s where you miss the natural path. The Clintons disrupted it in 1992. Obama almost got back to it before pooping his pants and resigning himself to throwing pencils at the ceiling while the GOP went around spending money on investigations… and stuff. But you could see that coming when he hired Summers in 2008.
We’re about 30 years behind the world. To put it in football terms, We’re the Cleveland Browns of the world when it comes to management and vision.
Sorry… I just looked at the map you linked.
There is no way in hell HRC gets elected in four years. That’s mildly amusing in a stupid sort of way.
There are more and better candidates than the shit show we just watched. If those two are the choices after the 2020 primaries, I’ll probably sell everything off and move to Baja… or Costa Rica… or maybe Argentina. Canada will have already built a wall, but Trump’s Maginot Line can be breached from behind.
Sorry, that map was the age 18-25 vote this past cycle.
Gotcha!
I was going to say the millennials break that way even with a large portion sitting this one out.
What’s Trump going to do to them that HRC wouldn’t? Not blame them for their own situation? I seriously doubt that, but their reality is one that is much lesser than the generations before them.
They’re not going to vote for her again. It’s more likely Warren storms in to take 2020.
Funny, I said to my Lady we’re going to get a more radical version of Clinton in 2020 and even named Warren as my guess.
This was a weird one for me because it’s fun to backlash against the SJWs shaming and feel a brief moment of reprise, but once that high wears off we have to deal with Trump. And then in 4 years we have to deal with the anger that’s going to brew from this, which likely means the youth elect Warren, and the SJW/et al gets more extreme.
This is the tweet/map, btw.
https://twitter.com/EByard/status/796317753749729280
You’ll note that Warren pretty much limited her rhetoric to address ad hominems. I mean… what would Pocahontas do? #wwPd
She is nothing like HRC. And the only way her right-minded reforms will take effect is if she carries a mandate to that office. Trump’s not going to do diddly about Wall Street. They’re going to eat his lunch.
You’ll also note I’m not of the persuasion that the cult of personality will overtake America in some fascist way. It will feel worse than it ever has for most Americans. But if Trump doesn’t learn humility first, he is dead in the water.
It’s a good thing Humble is his middle name.
Trump is the natural result of the lefty’s highly politically correct, anti-white, anti-male, and anti-American rhetoric.
Turns out if you demonize the people you disagree with, paint them as racists and oppressors and tell them that any and all of their successes are the result of some unearned “privilege,” they will create a counter-revolution.
Progressives, Trump is the consequence of your actions, your rhetoric, and the identity politics you brought into American politics. You made your bed, now lie in it.
Yes, true, it’s a natural path in that context and that’s all spot on, but I was thinking more along the line that the best path is when people are left alone and gravitate toward their natural calling. i.e. true liberty without the propaganda, etc. So in that way this path is unnatural.
(best username ever, btw).
I tend to agree. And, as of late the push has been towards globalism from the higher ups. Globalism is a natural evolution of our world, but they are artificially forcing it faster than it’s natural rate. Which, is why I believe nationalism is back on the rise again as evidenced by Brexit, Trump, and the rise in right nationalism in Europe.
Yes, in a way Globalism is natural if we’re trying to fetch the best buy/sell prices, but yes, they are forcing it too quickly and thus unnatural. I’m not sure why they’re forcing it other than they’re control freaks. But, you see how I run AB and what I think of control freaks.
How can you force globalism?
It either is or isn’t. And it’s not some new push.
?
I personally believe we have a nation that can be self-sufficient and sustainable with plenty of people capable of making it so if we did the unnatural and not let globalism take over. Big C Capitalism is all about exploiting labor as a variable instead of as people. And it’s a shit-ton easier to glean excessive profits when that exploitation is done out of sight.
Oregon just lost a similar fight with Measure 97 going down. It’s essentially a flat tax that would have replaced an existing regressive tax similar in structure to FICA. Merchandisers and franchises complained that they would be put out of business if they didn’t… *sniff*… if they didn’t raise prices and pass the tax on to the consumer. I’m going to cry, it’s so sad. I guess I’ll just have to go to the mom and pops for goods and services instead. I’m sorry that you who already get local tax breaks and prioritized infrastructure maintenance in a system that is overwhelmingly used for the purposes of your commerce would be so mean as to suggest you pay a flat rate.
Sorry?
The point is that if your dissonance on everything else is so great that you voted for Trump, you know in the back of your head that he’s lying about trade as well. The forces of Capitalism will not be denied when there’s money to be made.
I just have to wonder… whose money are these corporations taking for being the magnanimous and uber-patriotic citizens they pretend to be?
How can you force globalism?
Incentives (currency rates, trade deals, etc).
Yeah? And?
Free trade deals are the natural state of a Capitalistic free market. Don’t bogart that freedom, dude.
I know where you’re going with this. It’s the liberal in Trump coming out in some weird protectionist rhetoric. His intuition is right, but he’s just so dumb. The GOP will dangle some shiny boogeyman in front of him whenever the subject comes up, and it will be tabled or scrapped.
I see junior is already missing with the straw man below. Poor guy. Up here Mammothboner… bring it up here.
Way too many definitives to take your post seriously if you could get past it being fundamentally wrong. The PC stuff won’t go away. It will now be louder than ever since we see fit to hire someone who is clearly all of those things, if we’re to take him, his words and his deeds in even the dimmest of serious lights.
It’s fair to parse those who go too far. But saying this is a reflex outcome in that manner really says something profoundly stupid about the people making that decision. I choose to think people voted for things they think actually affect them. And I don’t think there was a good choice here. I’d probably be grumbling pretty loudly about HRC today if the script were flipped. There’s just a lot of frustration to let out.
You can’t tell me your self-esteem is so low that you care that much what other people say in the world of PC. Can you? Is this really just about weak minds telling America to fuck off?
Maybe I should be as cynical as you suggest.
Fwiw, I don’t care about the anti-PC/PC dog whistles. What I care about is when one side goes overboard, then the other side way overstates everything, usually by doubling down. Then we people who are watching all this come in and give the facts or data or direct quotes or whatever, thinking everyone will look at it and think, “Oh… is that all it is?” And we get pummeled from both sides for being shills for the other side… over really simple stuff.
So I’m already cynical about the fools obsessed with that conversation. I’m just not THAT cynical.
People definitely voted to lash out at the other side. And the liberals will do the same in 4 years. You’ll see a lot of social media with sentiment like “this is for 4 years ago”, etc. It makes a lot of sense since we are so divided that we should be in a physical civil war (but we’re weak and the majority of the country doesn’t know how to fire a gun) so instead we’re fighting that war the easy way on social media and the ballot box (we’re lazy, don’t want to die, and don’t know how to fire guns). I don’t view anyone doing this as stupid. They’re reacting normally, as any solder in a civil war would act.
And the Left is already shaming people: http://nymag.com/thecut/2016/11/rachel-maddow-slams-people-who-didnt-vote-clinton-or-trump.html
They didn’t learn anything.
Yeah, that’s what it means, Rachel…
Or it means they voted who they morally/consciously thought was best?? Novel concept, I know.
Jack, you can be all for globalism all you want. But, we the people chose against it and the corrupted establishment.
There was a protest on campus today and they were saying this isn’t a democracy. So, a democracy is only okay when it fits your beliefs and/or candidate?
Jack,it seems like your tactic here is to just keep the words coming no matter what. Are you thinking if you keep it up we’ll eventually wear down? That will be true of some but not everyone.
No, we won’t. We didn’t do it this time around. We sat out or voted for someone else. It will be all about policy in four years, and there will be verifiable data that looks a lot like Kansas. Hiring HRC would have pushed that out by another four years at least, denying liberals a voice in the 2020 election again. This is actually the best result for us in philosophical terms.
I won’t argue that the media will or won’t create some strange horse race narrative that flies in the face of that data. They just gave punkin’ head billions of dollars in free air time. If you put a stopwatch on the percentage of the hourly cycles of air each candidate got back in the primaries, there is no surprise in those results.
Okay… conflating anything except soldiers and war with actual soldiers and war is stupid at its roots. It’s that type of stupid rhetoric that divides people and can’t be used as a metaphor. But it’s not inconsistent with what one of the candidates was saying all along. And it does lend to the cavalier attitude toward foreign interventions and needless wars… which I’m assuming you’re willing to concede as another lie by Trump. Both candidates are the same in this area. One of them just didn’t bother to lie about her true intentions… probably because she was the only one who knew her true intentions. Is Trump going to cut the F-35 program? It’s more likely he’ll arbitrarily rework sweetheart deals with the contractors like idiot by did when he first took office. And here’s the thing about things from my utilitarian view–when you make a thing, it’s human nature to use that thing. Oooh! We’ve paid for a shitload of depleted uranium shit… because THAT sounded like a great idea? We have to use it somewhere or admit we’re just diddling our pocketbooks.
The third party thing is just bunk. She’s not coming from the left if she thinks voting for HRC is viable from that direction. We told you your policies were non-starters, and you said, “But… Trump.”
DNC: Hey liberals… have we got a Dem for you. She’s an interventionist hawk who does hot yoga with Henry Kissinger and made a killing telling Wall Street that what was their fault wasn’t their fault… and that they will never be prosecuted for employing that good old American entrepreneurship they performed when they were just let free with liberty and justice for all.
Liberals: Umm… yeah… sure.
It’s not a tactic, cj. It’s just venting. I had a lot of pent up anger from the primaries that I didn’t realize I hadn’t dealt with. This was the first time in 26 years I’ve been registered as a Dem.
Fuck them!
Wow. The first time for me being registered as a Republican in about the same time-frame…yeah, I voted for Barry.
Sorry everyone.
I voted for RR my first two times out. Then I went to college and studied economics and discovered what a raging moron I was for doing so. So I looked at the two parties and liked Dole on one side and Jackson on the other. Then all the dirty politicking started with GHWB going after Dole and Dukakis playing with Gephart and then everyone else. But the buzz that lasted through that election and survived until the next was what form healthcare would take. That 1988 election was the first time I remember Bernie, who was helping Jackson.
I didn’t register for any party in 1992. And I wasn’t going to vote for Bush or the waffle man. I did write in Jerry Brown that year. I liked the ideals of single-payer healthcare, a flat tax, term limits and public financing of campaigns. And we as a country were leading the way with all these cool reforms that would streamline democracy and make the nation stronger. But then this happened:
http://www.counterpunch.org/2007/11/12/why-hillary-s-health-care-plan-really-failed/
Note all the similarities to this year. I tried to keep her off the ballot. And I was sidelined for sharing the truth. But then I was supposed to vote for her? Puh-lease! I’ll keep shut so the serial liar with the comb over isn’t aided by me in any way. It’s not like I hated my mother, even if I would never vote for HRC.
But now the game has changed. This is going to be the most contentious four years of my life. Carrot top with the dentures will deserve every single rich, delicious sling and arrow his stupid ass can hear… and more. I don’t care if he was kidding about half of it and lying about the rest. His honor and respect are in a million little pieces on the floor, and he has put them there for eight long years.
This is Jack.

Beware the semi-erudite who thinks he is an erudite. He fails to naturally detect sophistry.
This just oozes irony. It also oozes a shitload of butthurt.
So it occurs to me as I read through this angry mumble of a conspiracy piece that this guy is telling everyone 1) what to do, 2) what to eat, 3) how to speak, 4) how to think… and 5) who to vote for.
There was one point where he turned a whole run-on sentence into a parenthetical so he could write another parenthetical where he boils ration down to something having to do with a norm. And then he blasts this out of his cheeks.
Just fucking say forest for the trees! Dood! This whole article could have been written in four words:
Nuh uh. You’re dumb!
Jack, quite bein’ a cooyon. Git on the coil and cry a river if you don’t like it. Galee for noone down here. Git ‘er done, ‘merica.
From the swamp…I’m out.
I thought the swamp was drained.
Yet another lie.
The obvious future schadenfreude coupled with the schadenfreude of today is surprisingly liberating.
OT: Today is the start of the early signing period. Thompson has signed and I’m sure Reichle will later today for MBB. Corosdale, Goodman, and the Polish JC center. Waiting on Westbrook tomorrow.
Any other possible signings that may not have been announced?
OT?…………I thought this was a Beavs sports blog.
Just me trying to be funny seeing how this thread went political.
I know, just showing my agreement. GO BEAVS!
Are we only waiting on Westbrook? Is Rueck only taking four?
They have to finish the airport tonight.
Is Evina Westbrook related to Russell Westbrook?
I lean toward yes, but I honestly can’t remember the answer when that question came up about LJ.
I don’t follow hoops very closely, but that sounds accurate based on what I’ve seen.
Baseball has some guys signing today, as well as the rest of the “Non-football” sports.
I should have said “Non-football or soccer”
FYI-Grymek has signed for WBB. See twitter feed
Please let it happen Mark.
http://www.omaha.com/huskers/blogs/practice-report-nov-banker-says-a-hangover-can-t-happen/article_ec5a1746-a613-11e6-9602-5bb60bcde44f.html
Bamker for President!
“An embarrassing blow out in every pot.”
Huskers may not get the chicken, but they’ll get plenty of turkeys and eggs!
Is Banker getting smarter in his old age? I like his comment that “Leidner is running more and even with a lead blocker”. It’s like he’s letting the NU fan base know ahead of time that they won’t be able to stop a running quarterback. Is he managing expectations???
So…is Amy Schumer gonna give back the jokes she stole before she leaves?
Did she steal them from Dane Cook?
Hmmmmm, a congratulatory tweet was sent out with the 3 signees today. Does WBB know something we don’t about Westbrook?
https://twitter.com/BeaverWBB/status/796481524539400192
Who signed?
Aleah Goodman-4* PG
Tayara Corosdale-5* wing
Joanna Grymek- 6’8″ JUCO post player (top rated juco post in country i believe, not that wbb juco players are rated by any site very reliably)
Don’t know if that tweet from the team means this is it, or if they mean this is it for today. Guess we have to wait a day on westbrook.
Great job Rueck. Maybe they will pull Westbrook.
Question on Westbrook for those who know more about her, does she seem like the type that would fit in to the WBB program? Regarding her signing day, she seems a bit like a prima donna (she’s not a 5* CB for chrissakes!) but kids do that kind of thing more and more and I don’t want to put too much into it.
I don’t know anything about Westbrook other than what’s been written but she seems like she’d be a good fit at OSU. Says a lot that her former teammate and Rueck have continued to recruit her as they must feel she’s a great fit.
http://www.buildingthedam.com/2016/10/2/13128286/women-s-basketball-who-is-evina-westbrook
Of course she’s not a 5* CB. Don’t be silly. If you want to convey what she is in football terms, she’s a 5* OT and the #1 overall player in the nation.
Fit isn’t really an issue. You fit others around her. If you’re talking about fit in terms of familiarity, we have an advantage given some of the AAU and HS connections. But who can say what fit means to her? We had this discussion about Ionescu. And we know the answers aren’t always about the programs themselves. I’m sure there’s as much a wont for exploration as there is one for being comfy with some home cooking. That’s what makes these decisions difficult.
The men’s team sent out tweets about Ethan but nothing about Zach. But that’s because he’s signing today so they’ll need to wait for his paperwork to clear.
Prob the same situation for Westbrook if she indeed commits. .
Another great class for Rueck. I believe Westbrook goes to Tenn, but I hope to be pleasantly surprised.
Is the westbrook to Tenn belief because of who her mom follows, or is there more to it?
More from an interview with her earlier in the year where her comments seemed like she was looking at ND and Tenn and everyone else was kinda runner up.
ESPN predicts 11th place Pac-12 finish for OSU MBB.
Good.
Make a copy and hang it up.
I didnt realize Evina Westbrook’s coach, Nick McWilliams, is Katie McWilliams’ dad. Neat deal!
Formally one of my high school teachers, and one of the most boring speakers ever. Heck of a nice guy though. He was the Milwaukie boys head bball coach in the late 90’s too. You’ve mentioned you were a Putnam kid yeah? You probably were at a game he coached back in the day.
At 5:30 Friday, UN plays Minnesota. I won’t be surprised if Minnesota wins. Minny lost at Penns State by 3, and dropped one at home to Iowa 14-7. Given how OSU played Minnesota on the road, it will be interesting to check on that game as OSU defeats UCLA….
Eggers picking UCLA in a close one:
http://pamplinmedia.com/pt/12-sports/331749-211129-kerry-says-rose-bowl-win-not-quite-for-beavers
Is DeCoud playing this weekend? If he and Crawford are out there, I think OSU’s under-appreciated pass D gives them a solid chance to win. Andersen wants to go downfield on the Bruins, not easy with their secondary on OSU’s weak receiving corps.
I think Nall – in a boot again – should be rested, and Pierce and Cook should get the majority of carries. Get more diverse with Colliins, including having him throw the ball on a wildcat play or two.
When Togiai returns next year, it will be clear just how much OSU missed having a legitimate TE threat on the field this year. By the way, I hope there is at least on good TE prospect that redshirted this year, and one in the next recruiting class as well.
DeCoud isn’t on the injury list put out this week. So I hope he’ll play.
It is time for some turnovers and I think with the UCLA reliance on the pass it could be a good day for DeCoud and the rest of the DB’s.
W/O Bright, pressure on the QB could still be questionable.
And Jason picks Stanford over UO, and spends much of the article opining on the needs of the Ducks football program, including giving Helfrich another year. He suggest Helfich be something he’s not, and I don’t see that working:
http://pamplinmedia.com/pt/12-sports/331748-211131-jason-says-putting-the-ducks-bowl-hopes-out-of-their-misery
Ouch!
BREAKING: @FIUFootball TE Jonnu Smith will miss remainder of season after his 5-month pregnant girlfriend threw boiling water on his head.
That redefined the term hot-head.
It also redefines the term “tea-bagging”
Key for the Beavs against UCLA
Same as every game.
1. Control the clock.
2. Get ahead early.
3. Bend but don’t break defense.
I think it’ll be a 21-17 type game.
Scoring more points than UCLA is the key to winning.
Tedford to Fresno State. When can we get them back on the schedule?
Tedford is perfect for the MW, he’ll be middle to upper half in that league every year. He Just can’t handle the power 5 schedule.
Crap, I was hoping they would hire Justin Wilcox.
Anyone hear GA’s interview on the weekly Parker Wednesday night broadcast? I got in the car as it was part way in, I was running errands and had to bail on certain portions.
Parker did address the arm/legs/brains aspect of the QBs and questions about McM v Blount but I wasn’t able to get the full answers, or questions for that matter.
One thing that stuck out was a GA comment about Blount being an “excellent athlete,” “very athletic” and saying McM was also a “good athlete” and “could run a bit.” Like I said I didn’t get the whole thing or really have time to put it all together, was hoping someone here caught it. It sounded though like GA was higher on Blount due to the things he can do with his legs, and possibly his decisions to either run or not, without coming right out and saying it.
Anyone seen my keys?
I haven’t found them yet…
New JUCO WR commit.
http://www.scout.com/college/oregon-state/story/1726540-beavs-add-jc-receiver
Nice, 3 star from Chandler. I’ll take him.
Things that stick out on film:
-20 seconds in and I’ve already seen him hurdle someone
-Quite a few nice catches in the end zone and against double teams
-Way too much getting in guys’ faces and trash talking after plays. Looks like a walking personal foul
There’s something weird about the way he uses his body in traffic that I can’t quite figure out. It’s like he’s hunched over or not playing as tall as he really is. Anyone else see that or is it just me?
So that’s 5 wr’s in this class so far if u count quantino allen. I wonder if this means they don’t like they’re chances with calvin or hodgins. Does anyone know how many players they plan on taking this cycle?
Maybe they just realized none of our current WR’s can catch…
I think they’ll take 25. Also think this signing means one or more of our upperclassmen WRs if leaving at year end. Just a guess, so don’t quote me, but wouldnt be surprised to see Villy or Jarmon(or both) grad transfer.
Or maybe it just means we will take all of the Chandlers we can get. More Chandlers for everybody!
Per Gina:
Choukair will kick FG
Owens PAT
Rutschman Kickoffs
https://twitter.com/ginamizell/status/796806758727434241
10 guys per job. Sounds like our QB and OC situation. A GA trend now.
hhhmmmmm, maybe he’s got a play package with 10 WRs…one of them would HAVE to be open….then catch.
“And McMaryion’s progressing through his reads…sacked again!”
“McMaryion went to his sixth read on the play Bob, nice patience to find the open man and move the chains.”
So is the PAT thing just a scrap for Owens to keep his self-esteem up, or is Choukair better at kicking from 35 yards than 12?
Owens is a head case. Wasn’t he suspended a couple years ago by Simple Jack for behavior issues along with the other Shankopopolous kicker?
Owens lost the FG job. He hasn’t lost the PAT job. If he starts missing those too, he loses that job.
Seriously… choker?
I was willing to give Trump a fair shot and even understand the anti SWJ backlash, rebellion vote, etc. But have you guys seen the trump cabinet proposals? Ben Carson, who left a surgical device in someone’s brain, is being put in charge of the new healthcare plan. Old cronies Giuliani, Christie, and Gingrich are likely in. Palin for Sec. of Interior? Wow. All old cronies/hacks from past administrations. No change or upheaval. This is going to be an absolute disaster. It’s too bad the Dems shamed everyone and negged them so much. We have the SWJ to blame for this mess because much of the vote was reactionary. The Fed is to blame as well, only propping up the desirable real estate and leaving out most of the Country. I’m wondering if we might see the quickest impeachment ever. Shouldn’t be hard since Trump’s private businesses present a conflict of interest.
I think you just listed the entirety of the politicians that supported him during his run. Maybe he’ll make Hannity Sec of State.
Press Secretary for Hannity–official title on his business card will read: Sean “Baghdad Bob” Hannity
There’s not going to be a lot of people running to work in his government.
Chris Christie and “Psycho” Rudy can’t run fast enough!
Don’t know where you are seeing/hearing that but nothing is in the way of stopping confirmation of anyone Trump chooses. So: look for overturn of Roe v Wade, privatization of Social Security, sell-off of public lands, creationism in classrooms, and as many guns as you can shoot, for starters.
The system in the United States needs to be remedied, but it won’t be. Shorten campaign times, standardize the primary system – all votes or all caucuses, all split or all winner- take- all. Green Party or Libertarian candidates in debates. Getting the money out – which will never, ever happen.
So, good luck everyone.
AFCA will be repealed…likely go after Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act….
Also ditch the electoral system; its a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist anymore and it takes away the meaning of one vote one voice.
Ditching the electoral system would mean candidates only need to pimp themselves to the elites on the coasts to get elected. In today’s environment its existence may be even more important. Changing a non-broken system because you don’t like the outcome is the reverse of what we should stand for.
There are checks and balances precisely to keep people like this bozo in his lane.
And ditching the electoral system would mean the guy who is only there because of it sees it as a problem for him.
Do as I say, not as I do.
Trump goes to trial this month for Federal charges related to his University. Maybe he’ll be convicted before he can do too much damage.
Because Pence won’t do anything contrary to what Trump promised or hire the same old cronies?
Whatever.
Just have fun with it before they finish killing net neutrality.
Since he became prominent in the race I’d always expected he’d doing something illegal and get impeached in less than 36 months. Would this congress do it though?
That is a terrible list of cabinet candidates and pretty hypocritical for a guy who criticized Hillary for “pay to play” politics. And, as you say, not anti-political institution at all…
This isn’t pay to play, this is kiss ass to play. I doubt any oif them donated any cash for what looked to be a sinking ship.
Would this congress impeach him? Possibly? I don’t get the feeling there is much love lost between The Don and the lifetime politicians –on both sides of the aisle.
I can’t resist commenting, cos’ I’m trying to work my way through this, and it is way too easy to say WTF
But…we are in for scary times–seems like the country wants to get back to 1950’s morals and values (those days are gone, folks), reverse Roe v. Wage? (really?), rollback on any global climate change coordination with other countries? I honesty don’t know of any person more inept to be President than this guy. Unfortunately, that last sentence is not written emotionally–I’m afraid we’ll find that too soon enough factually.
As he would tweet: SAD!
I’m not sure why you’re pretending to be surprised.
The book was written on this guy long ago. He’s never going to change. He’s the Flim-Flam Man with the spray-on tan.
That’s just it… proposals. No one is chosen and anything at this point is just speculation.
what
me
worry
What do you guys think regarding hoops?
First game is tomorrow, obviously, so let’s hear some predictions or what team strengths/weaknesses will be?
Strengths –
1. Scorers. Have 4 guys who are capable of going 20+ in a game.
2. Experience. They know what it takes to make it to the postseason and what it will take to win in the postseason.
Weaknesses –
1. Rebounding. Outside of Eubanks and Big G, not much to rely on for rebounding.
2. Short rotation. Team could wear down through the season. End of bench needs to step up.
3. Free throw shooting. Left a lot of points out there with poor team free throw shooting. Shot 67% last year. Needs to be 70+ this year.
Intangibles –
1. New guys impact. Likely see ups and downs from McLoughlin. Unknowns are Dew, Stacy and Kone. Dew being suspended for the exhibition was a bad start. How much do Manuel and Muller contribute?
2. How much growth do Tinkle, Thompson and Eubanks show? Thompson in particular. If he can increase his shooting %, he’ll be all conference.
Most of the weaknesses won’t be exposed until conference games start. New guys will need to show a lot during the non-conf in order for the team to have success in the conf.
McLoughlin can essentially replace Bruce and impact the whole year instead of Bruce only at the end of the year.
Hoping someone steps up to grab the boards that GPII was getting the last two years. Big G seems to enjoy banging around, hopefully Drew steps up and becomes more physical.
I’m going to go out on one of Drew’s limbs and say he’s going to look like a man playing with blocks this year.
And one of the variables is always injury. But in our case it will be health management and proper rehab. This group pushed through the February blahs well last year. I expect them to do so again, regardless their ages.
Wow! Apparently college students these days are so emotionally weak and unable to deal with adversity, they need grief counselors to deal with Hillary losing the election:
http://www.thecollegefix.com/post/29876/
I’m not exactly excited over President Trump, but give me a freaking break!
My feelings, exactly. I hear the leaders of the protests are being paid, similar to the folks trying to break up Trump’s rallys.
Fucking idiots! They only want their way, not democracy.
I’m not a fan of Trump but this is ridiculous!
At least they’re not being paid to astroturf town halls with busloads of protesters chanting, “End welfare now! Keep your hands off my welfare!”
?
And I think if Kanye wants to be prez, he needs to start loudly proclaiming that the Donald is ineligible for the office because he’s the son of an orangutan… from Kenya… you know… one of those orange Kenyans with the British accents. The man the Donald claims to be his father simply cannot be so. That man gifted and laundered and bequeathed enough capital for his son to be three to ten times wealthier than the Donald (depending on how much he truly owes Putin) if he would have done nothing but maintain the infrastructure left to him.
If Trump’s slogan is make America great… again, what’s Kanye’s going to be?
Kanye can’t win. He’d get Taylor Swiftboated.
That’s really funny.
I’m going to use that.
One from a friend in Corvallis who was also a Bernie supporter:
So… Tuesday was fun. When do the Superdelegates vote?
Waaaagh.
I can’t accept our new president. I am the most enlightened individual on this planet. I must result to ad hominem against Trump. Did I mention he has orange hair? ORANGE HAIR! HAHAHA.
P.S. Don’t even dare try to argue with me. I will go through the logical fallacies dictionary and subdue you with my superb knowledge of English.
Is that it?
News flash: I seem to be able to accept who the Donald is more than you. Is he a complete douche? Yes. He’s also a scumbag who has played on both sides of legality versus criminality for years and covered most of it up by being one of the most litigious people in this country for decades. Trump is such a dick, he calls his comb-over forehair.
And now he owns your thoughts.
Come back here in four years and show me where I’m wrong about the flake. I’ll admit to all that is wrong.
Ignore them. They have zero backbone. Much like the occupiers eventually they’ll get bored and move on to some other perceived injustice to whine, snivel and cry about.
http://www.mommyshorts.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/6a0133f30ae399970b0192ac042f59970d-800wi.jpg
Unlike Trump… who does the standing fetal position and collapses into the arms of the SS whenever someone says boo?
Have Trump keep any one of the promises he’s already reneged on… if you have any backbone.
Pussification……..on steroids.
Want more proof that millenials are entitled? :)
Who made them feel entitled? Their parents….
Hush your typing!
The teachers unions made them this way. They’re not glorified babysitters who get screamed at by entitled parents for doing something wrong if Biff or Buffy do something wrong. They’re mind-bending Rasputins who are waging an all out war on Christmas.
It is interesting, my 14 yo daughter was in tears Wednesday morning. I had to give her the whole pep talk to and try to get her pissed enough to think about how to react to things that are disappointments. Get you head in the game kid, you’re the next generation of voters.
Maybe she had rewatched the CU game?
Yeah… it’s an expected phenomenon. Everyone likes bashing millennials with this causal reductionism. What they also forget is that there are a lot of people in this country under 18 who just spent a whole year watching a bully beat up on a woman with ugly threats and violent rhetoric.
Happy days are here again!
Btw… the announcement of the formation of an investigatory group with a mandate to put said woman in prison is already a day late. But, the country hired a liar, not a lawyer.
NO. The country said said “no” to the liar and left her in the dust!
You can’t catch HRC in a legal lie. She’s too smart for that. You’re correct in your cynicism, but you’re wrong in the implementation of legalese created and mastered by the very people the country just hired.
Remember, Oliver North *pause for 45 seconds while he whispers back and forth with his lawyer* doesn’t recall egregiously breaking federal and international laws, and he’s a fucking national hero.
That makes her one too. I see no difference.
On the other hand, the Donald lied more in quantity and variation before lunch most days than HRC did in even the campaign context. My favorites are the ones where someone asks him about what he said about such and such, but he says, “I didn’t say that. That’s stupid. I wouldn’t say that. Next.” The man has less integrity than one of those used car lot floppy tube men. And then some of those ideas would be repeated not 2 hours later to loud cheers at some rally.
Accountability is a four syllable word to him.
Say whatever you want but she’s still left in the dust…
God Jack just shut up already. She lost because she sucks. Go get therapy or something.
Waaaagh.
My corrupt puppet candidate lost! Trump bullied her! Men are not allowed to insult women! That is SEXIST! I didn’t even care that she was founded to be one of the most corrupt candidates to date via leaks by citizen journalists replacing the job of our mainstream media.
DID I MENTION TRUMP HAS ORANGE HAIR!? HAHAHA.
I really hope you’re correct. Look what happens when she makes a run at the WH.
And to our new dildo shaped friend who is apparently stuck in Milo’s duodenum:
Try to keep up, son. You make about as much sense as tits on a boar hog. Bring some truth, son, or you sound like all the other noise out there. Let me guess, you’re listening to Korn right now. Korn is cool because they have their K backward. Korn.
Speaking of Nebraska, how is Tommy Armstrong this week? That medical drama was some scary stuff.
Mike Rowes assessment. I agree with it.
https://m.facebook.com/TheRealMikeRowe/photos/a.151342491542569.29994.116999698310182/1330853343591472/
I’m not going to shut up for at least four years. I take great joy in speaking truth to power. It is my therapy.
And I don’t care if she lost. It was going to be an honor to call one of them a loser. I just have to get my bearings. I wasn’t expecting the Moscovian Candidate to win. Now we have a loser in office too.
Anyone out there know what wave or cyclical theory is? If you do, do you have a favorite? I see this election as evidence of a grand supercycle. Andrew Jackson… Warren Harding… Donald Trump.
I never could wedge idiot boy into that cycle. It’s why I call hi idiot boy. I don’t think he was bright enough to understand all the corrupt cronyism happening around him. Time will not treat his legacy well.
But Trump fits with Jackson and Harding. He’s a corrupt buffoon who will take everything for himself and his friends and fuck the masses, especially the minorities. They don’t need no stinking laws. They were the laws.
In addition to them all being loathsome failures as humans, they were also protectionist ass-holes who all followed highly intelligent presidents who were very skilled in diplomacy and extremely well versed in Constitutional law… yet were stymied tooth and nail by a Congress who did everything they could to make their governments fail… which directly led to those men being elected.
I’m sure I could pull out several similarities if I dug into it. Point is, are we fascinated by what looks like a real cycle? Or is this just coincidence?
Yes.
It’s not truth, it’s your opinion that you state as truth. It’s your schtick, you babble incessantly about shit people barely care about, certainly not enough to bother arguing with you. So you think you win because you’re smarter than everyone else when the fact is that you’re just not important enough for anyone to waste the time in their day.
Mike Rowe’s assessment is nice and all. But it’s also late and naive. Now is not the time for silent reconciliation. Now is the time to shine one bright fucking light on the rats as they take over the ship. Not a one of them gets away now.
I was silent before the election. I think I spoke about it three or four times. It was just a lousy year full of lousy people on my TV. Why would I want to talk about it? The biggest louse won.
It’s also naive to think Trump survives the GOP. I wouldn’t put it past them to find some way for him to die during his first couple years. It will either be a sudden shock for someone who is the most bestest person for being healthy in the history of health… or it will be a false flag operation.
They’re the GOP. They smile in his face. All the while, they want to take his place.
Back to the cyclical theory… if it’s any consolation, wealth inequality was a growing concern in both the Jackson and Harding admins. And they did little to change anything despite movements with slogans about “A return to normalcy” and the like. In fact they did weird and stupid stuff that precipitated several mini panics and culminated in ~decade long depressions about eight or nine years after their wins.
So there’s that.
What’s not truth? Is Trump not one of the most litigious people of the last couple decades? Is he not going to court to answer for possible fraud and racketeering charges? Did he not admit on tape that he sexually assaults women? Did several women not come forward and confirm what he admitted to, only for him to promise to sue them all and provide evidence that they are all liars?
Has he kept any promises yet? He made several promises that he never upheld during the campaign. Are my definitions of honor, integrity and accountability opinions? Is my definition of a promise? Merriam-Webster disagrees with you according to their definition of opinion… and their definition of definition.
Wait… this is you telling me it depends on what the definition of is is?
If you don’t care, it won’t bother you that the same deportment America voted for is what I will use as a model for my fight against big brother. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. America voted for it, and I am going to enthusiastically abide.
Oooh! Big brother! I’ll give you an opinion. Big brother will try very bigly to take down the interwebs, and they will succeed to at least change its structure to something unrecognizeable and not free. And I’m not talking free as in price.
Did he not declare bankruptcy six times, leaving in his wake a shit-ton of unpaid invoices from trades and vendors each time?
Does he not owe hundreds of millions of dollars to Russia?
Who does he hire to work at his resorts, and how does that directly contradict his campaign rhetoric?
Who is the largest demographic of undocumented workers in this country, and how did they get here? Will building a wall fix that issue?
Btw, how do you feel about all that eminent domain hassle that will take place down there? You apparently didn’t pay much attention to it when they did it the first time… for the wall that’s there now.
Do you really think the GOP will pay to rebuild infrastructure? This is one I’m hopeful for because I know they’ll pay 150% to their cronies to do those jobs. And that will be okay for me because it was badly needed 8 years ago when they denied it because it would make Obama look good and may have given people a reason to re-elect him. That’s not my opinion either. It was explicitly said out loud and written down.
Is Trump a socialist? Because the Nationalist Socialist Movement just loves the guy’s ideas… whatever they might be.
What’s your take on the guy? Or is the guy as worthless as you say he is… since he’s the person of whom I speak, and nobody cares about that?
You have not seen Jack type (even now) until you see the chud we just elected take office.
Tomorrow, the 11th, will be day 3 of Trump not announcing that he’s going to keep the promise to investigate and put HRC in prison, “as soon as I’m elected.”
Is it my opinion that sheep voted for Napoleon?
Since lying came up… and will come up daily… hourly with this dood in office… I’ll pull this one out for you.
Yeah… that’s about right. Add that the South thinks he’s George Wallace. The Rust Belt thinks he’s Ross Perot. And the rural West thinks he’s Barry Goldwater.
This explains the dissonance required to ignore every gawd damned word that cheet-oh jesus said.

There is such an immense density about the man and his cult. It’s really really funny if you stop to think about it. We get President Camacho.
“Tomorrow, the 11th, will be day 3 of Trump not announcing that he’s going to keep the promise to investigate and put HRC in prison, “as soon as I’m elected.”
I thought the election was rigged and Trump was going to challenge the results? Oh, that was only if he lost….he must be relieved the system had integrity after all.
And now HRC can go into charity work, be a pundit, and cease her quest for the presidency. Thank god.
Of for a competitive, qualified pool of candidates from multiple parties in 4 years…make our choice difficult, not painful.
Yes. At least some good came of it. In her concession speech, she said someone else will get the chance to break the glass ceiling, almost verbatim. I was not looking forward to living in a land led by Maggie Thatcher.
I often wondered where HRC’s Falklands War would be. I came to the conclusion it would be Nigeria and Boko Haram because I could play off the general lattitudes (out of sight) and how meaningless it all is. And since Kissinger would be involved I could talk about the Gulf of Guinea with references to Tonkin… and our black ops and secret bombing campaign in Cam… um… Cameroon.
I don’t know what the Donald’s executive war will be. Nigeria is as likely as anywhere.
PHIL STEELE REPORT:
Oregon State (Offense: 86 / Defense: 88 / Special Teams: 46) – Game Grade Average 77.9 (#83)
Projected Final Record: 3-9
UCLA (Offense: 60 / Defense: 8 / Special Teams: 108) – Game Grade Average 89.8 (#29)
Projected Final Record: 5-7
UCLA is 8-3 SU/9-2 ATS vs Oregon State. The visitor is 5-2 SU/6-1 ATS and there have been 5 outright upsets in the last 8 years. Last year the Bruins embarrassed Oregon State on their home field, 41-0 (-16.5) as the Bruins finished with a 675-245 yard edge. The last time here was back in 2012 and Oregon State pulled the upset 27-20 (+7). UCLA enters off their 4th straight loss, falling
to Colorado 20-10 (+13). Playing without QB Rosen (out for year), the Bruins put up season lows in yards (210), first downs (14), and passing yards (185). Last week Oregon State was +16 at Stanford and down 26-15 late 4th quarter got stopped on downs at the Oregon State 1-inch line to prevent the Cardinal from covering. The Beavers were outgained 425-266 and had just 8 first downs. UCLA’s defense is #22 in the nation, holding foes to 67 yards per game below their average while Oregon State’s offense is #89 in the nation, averaging 29 yards per game less than their foes allow. The Beavers do have my #22 pass efficiency defense and the Bruins completely rely on their pass game due to a non existent running game (53 ypg, 2.0 ypc in Pac-12 play). The Bruins have 2 extra days rest but have their rivalry game vs USC on deck. Oregon State is on back-to-back road games and their 3rd in 4 weeks. I’ll agree with my computer & call for UCLA to win by over 2 touchdowns.

Phil Steele report on OSU vs. Stanford last week was complete crap. By the way OSU has beat the point spread from Vegas 5 weeks in a row.
^This. The Beavs have been out-playing expectations. I wish I was a betting man, I could have made a bundle on the Beavs the last several weeks.
I am a betting man- I just wish I live in a state where gambling was legal. I have, though, fleeced my die-hard Coug buddy by taking the Beavs against the spread 3 weeks straight.
Well, I would just say he was one inch from being right. Missed it by THAT much…
Gopher game vs Riley. Gum chewing and hand jiving taken to next level.
http://btn.com/2016/11/10/btn-to-become-first-college-sports-network-to-produce-live-football-game-in-virtual-reality/
Wow the hand jive, the gopher mascot spinning his head…an immersive experience not to be missed!
Go Gohpers! Bring those NU fans back to cold reality…the sooner the better.
Westbrook to Tenn, no surprise there.
Not in PAC, so no collateral damage.
Wrong, since we’re going to the final 4. ;)
Have the Beavs ever came out on top on one of these self promoting ceremonies?
Probably came down to not having an airport.
Too long a flight from salem to corvallis.
For in-state kids, and from the west side, I think its easy to see the allure of going out of state and seeing new places.
You guys think Carson, Palin, Gingrich and Christie are bad? Look up either already appointed or likely to be appointed Ken Blackwell, Myron Ebell, Harold Hamm, Mike Flynn, and probably a bunch of other horrific candidates I can’t remember. Good lord this is a nightmare.
I’d love to hear your arguments why any of those are bad choices.
And, no Carson leaving a surgical tool in a person’s brain is not grounds for discrediting someone. Do you realize the stress and job surgeons actually do? If everyone was discredited from a mistake I think no one would have a job.
Agree. Carson has done some amazing things surgically that absolutely saved and changed some peoples lives. Not to mention when he did these things it was cutting edge and no one else was doing them or willing to try.
At least we can say Carson doesn’t have any baggage.
Education – Carson — the guy who believes Joseph (which one? who knows?) built the pyramids to store grain — and censorship isn’t censorship if you only muzzle the people who disagree with you
http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2015/10/ben-carson-calls-for-a-right-wing-fairness-doctrine-on-college-campuses/411865/
Palin, Gingrich and Christie — You want to know why these are bad choices? I’ll just assume you’re joking and leave these alone.
Flynn is actually qualified more than probably anyone else who will be a cabinet member under Trump… for any of the positions… except maybe Giuliani for AG, if that happens. It’s just a mystery why he supports Trump. He has lost a ton of respect within the military and intelligence services because they all think Trump will be a danger to national security.
Myron Ebell = James Watt without Watt’s honesty
Hamm – Why would he wait four years to reap that which he paid for?
Blackwell – I don’t know how he didn’t go to jail for 2004… except that certain info required to convict his co-conspirators did appear at opportune times.
I think the point is that they’re cronies, and a monkey with a google machine could pick a more bigly cabinet.
I would upvote Jack’s post more than once, being a liberal Demo who knows that the election is rigged. Maybe if I was a deceased black voter in Philadelphia, this darn iPad would let me vote again.
Cos you know it’s rigged and shit
I think you’ve got a little… yeah… a little little hanging chad… yeah… no, on that tooth… right there… yeah… you got it.
ASU’s O line sucks.
joe williams 82yrd td. live by the blitz, die by the blitz
Apparently a trump protest in portland happening currently has been upgraded to a riot. The street kids decided to show up and start smashing windows in all of the cars and businesses in their path. Good work, dbags
Mom & Dad didn’t instill respect in them or teach them how to lose with honor.
Some PSU student is periscoping quite a bit of the mess as he walks around the city streets. Nothing amazing and doesn’t look particularly violent. Just some vandalism mixed in with several thousand marchers. Didn’t anybody tell these people that Oregon didn’t vote for Trump?
#TrumpRiot passing Nike town. Chanting against trump now. Car burning out as i type this. #NotMyPresident https://t.co/HOtSbgrZXe
Actually Portland & Eugene didn’t vote for Trump, the rest of the state did. Look at the state-wide election map.
Unfortunate that those two cities carried the state to Hillary…
http://www.cnn.com/election/results/states/oregon
Wait!
This is a city?
That is possibly the funniest thing I’ve heard today.

Yeah!
They should show respect to the office that is going to be held by King Birther.
Lie down and take it, bitches!
Do as I say, not as I do!
they came for their participation trophies. Rioting ensued after they found out they were going to have to get jobs instead
Yeah!
And they don’t want any of those little participation trophies. They want the long form participation trophies.
Now bring me some of that beautiful clean coal. I’m going to cook a bloody porterhouse on it, and then I’m going to eat it. And then I will loudly belch at all those veterinarians.
To beat a bear you gotta stay on the outside, jab, dance, jab, jab. As the rounds wear on, step into the right cross. Jab, cross, jab, jab, cross. It will be death from a thousand cuts.
Or shoot it with a .450 Marlin. Death from a single bullet.
Happy Vets Day to all who served.
A veteran…………”someone who (once) wrote a check payable to the United States of America for an amount up to, and including, his life.”
I will second that.
Happy Veterans Day.
Go watch a parade and cheer if you can.
Jack please go pet your therapy animal and stop posting
Just let it sink in a bit.
In saying FUCK YOU to America, you’ve given a target rich environment to all the people you lump together in one extremely narrow-minded characterization. The people you want to shut up will get louder and more extreme. You think city mice don’t know anything about the country mice? They’re going through the exact same thing. Their puppeteers just tell them that it’s the fault of the country mice. Divide and conquer, and you’ve complied.
You’re all right about the people whimpering in fear over this event. They need to snap to and start swinging. And they will.
If you doubt comrade Trump will be an interventionist, think about what he will allow Putin to do. Do you really think he’s going to stop at the Baltics and Ukraine once Neville Trump lets him take those?
How much did Holden Trump scream BENGHAZI!!!!! after he started getting intelligence briefings? We’re lucky the real world is filled with a bunch of other intelligence gathering groups, or we would have had an international nightmare brought on by some of the really shameful garbage the Trumpster fire burned.
And you have to conclude that our military and security infrastructure just sucks, which lends to a direct correlation to what you think about the people who manage them. Now that those people really hate the CINC, the only way to make it look like they support him is to create more grunts, remove them from their native populations and send them overseas to form an opinion of foreigners by stomping around their native lands and complaining that they don’t fight fair.
We’re so lucky to have this man take office. He’s going to make our military the best in the world… again.
And you want me to shut up.
You’re funny.
My opinion is a fact! My opinion is a fact! My opinion is a fact!
Counter my “opinions” with facts.
Counter my “opinions” with facts.
Counter my “opinions” with facts.
I was thinking that what the protesters need is a good, long spanking. It’s very evident that Mom & Dad didn’t do it and the schools didn’t teach them what democracy is and how it’s attained.
Come on over at the game tonight and get your spanking, Jack. I’ll also school you on democracy!
You poor sad sack.
You know not what you request.
Heh heh… I’ll write a response for you. I have this one down pat. And you ca use it elsewhere if you like.
Oooh! Mr. Keyboard Warrior thinks he’s a big man.
I’ll bet you’re an Olympic weight lifter with a black belt in kicking ass. I’m guessing you have a gorgeous Canadian girlfriend… in Canada. It’s just hard for her to correspond because she’s always on the road as a the manager of a semi-pro hockey team. And you don’t live in your mother’s basement. You made her move down there.
Amirite?
Of course not. I didn’t see you at the game, and I was waiting to lay you over my knee, then have a talk about out founding fathers. Don’t know what happened…did you decide to go protesting?
Shame
I thought you were a bottom.
You would have hated our founding fathers.
They were liberals who protested.
I think Jack has a yeast infection
That explains the rancid smell.
Thanks Obama!
Westbrook goes to TN. I get the history there, but what is the deal with all the Oregon players ending up there? Any insight?
Racism
Bigotry

ASU got clobbered by Utah. Weird year for football.
Oregon’s lone conference win was at home against ASSU. Nothing weird about it
I though they would be better. UCLA sucks. Stanford down. Ducks stink. Zona really bad.
CU good. Work with me.
Why would you think ASU would be better? Because it’s Todd Graham’s current dream job?
UCLA still has talent. We could be lucky to catch them before they fire Mora. Although, he’ll probably be allowed to hire a whole new group of assistants first.
Stanford’s down year will likely end up being good enough that it would be our second best year in the modern era.
Ho hum.
Beav article in the Oregonian today took a “might possibly be bowl eligible” angle. I thought that was odd. I couldn’t tell if GA was joking or the Oregonian are just idiots (I may have answered my own question). Getting to a bowl game with a 5-7 record would not be my top story line at this point in the season.
http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2016/11/oregon_state_acknowledges_slim.html#incart_river_index
Gophers went to a GPA bowl last year in Detroit. About ten people went.
I saw that. Smilin’ Mike went also. Maybe that’s the story, GA and Biley both get to bowl games with shitty records?
Someone posted something about this here about a month ago.
GPA bowl? The article was in this mornings Oregonian.
I haven’t looked at the article, but it would also have to inform you of how many teams are .500+ for 42 bowl games and link to a page ranking teams by their possible outcomes in order to be as thorough as the post I speak of.
Wait, wasn’t Angry an anti-Bush guy? Now he is pro Trump? What changed?
That’s not unusual, even if I don’t know if it’s true. Angry probably doesn’t like the Bush clan because he has eyes that can read and watch about history and ears that can hear recordings. Note that I am assuming he eyes and ears that do function to these levels. I apologize to him if I am wrong. And he likely isn’t pro-Trump as much as he is anti-whatever Milo says.
But there are a ton of true believers within the cult who fully believe in all the Bilderberger crap. The Birchers are among the most sane of his cult. That’s a really really… really low bar.
I miss Art Bell. Although, watching Steve Scully field calls from Looney Tunes can be strangely captivating in a surrealistic way.
I thought he was pro-trump for a bit, but looking at his comments he’s just anti-hrc and swj.
I work around a bunch of academia liberals. It is amazing to me how up in the air their noses are and how they think they know better than the rest of the “common American” out there… they have become the new republican party (well to do – out of touch). And they can’t believe people believe in and wanted Trump in office. They really are ignorant to the fact no one wanted Trump in office… we just didn’t want Hillary in office more. Most people I know felt they were just picking the better of two evils and the tipping point was a chance for much much needed change. I’ve watched the liberal media paint everyone outside their belief system with negativity for years with hate and discuss. Now the “children of the media” are going forth in the streets with hate and discuss. Ironic.
Seriously, they’re hate mongers and know it all control freaks. They never see their hypocrisy, but it’s good many do.
Which “they” are we talking about again?
Because… you know… you’re intolerant if you don’t tolerate their intolerance.
There is a corollary to that statement. Do you need some hand-holding and caressing in order to hear the words that you deserve to hear when you collectively tell the United States of fucking America that you fucking hate them?
Pussy.
I think the real travesty is that when you look at who Trump is appointing he is just going to the standard Heritage Foundation and K Street lobbyist players. He is pouring concrete into the swamp and then claiming he drained it. But to me the scariest part is he ran a campaign devoid of policy that relied on demagoguery and incitement. I agree Clinton was a highly flawed candidate, she lacks ethics but Trump lacks morals.
whoever downvoted this take it to your safe space.
Nicely done.
Thanks ean! Well said
Check out this racist, sexist, hate monger, because you know, ALL Trump supporters are those things. Lolol.
http://nytlive.nytimes.com/womenintheworld/2016/11/10/silent-trump-voter-a-muslim-woman-faces-backlash-after-outing-herself-in-washington-post-column/
Yep.
And all millennials and liberals are SJWs. And all Dems are liberals. And everyoe who says Trump is a racist, misogynist hate monger because the words he said and the things he did were racist, misogynist and hate mongering… are really saying the people who vote for someone who says those things are also racist, misogynist and hate mongers themselves.
We hear you. You think he’s lying, and that he’s really an honorable dude.
?
And on and on and on and on and on.
But your exception that proves the rule is better than the actual demographics trotted out when you say those things.
That’s a lie. Gary Johnson is a fine man, albeit a little goofy. And he is a fine executive, unlike the one guy in America who couldn’t make money at either pro football or owning a casino.
This is your bed. You’re going to love that the nightly turn down service you were promised are really them short-sheeting you.
Btw… don’t eat the mints.
I don’t give 2 shits why people voted for Trump.
I see how this will go down over the next 2 years and will put my prediction down right here all based on looking at his website and listening to his speeches:
He will appoint cronies and insiders to his cabinet, this will be ignored by his supporters despite being the opposite of cleaning up Washington
His first 100 days will involve attempts to pass things like term limits for Congress, new rules preventing lobbying if you’ve worked in the White House, immigration reform (which won’t pass but will be used to keep his base angry), and the big one will be a bill to build new infrastructure. He won’t care if term limits and lobbying rules pass but attempting those will convince people he actually is out to clean up Washington, he will use lots of political capital to get the GOP behind the infrastructure bill (Democrats will go along because they’ve wanted it for years) and that bill will pass. This will create jobs and make him very popular.
As we near the mid-term elections he will push for legislation that is sold as protecting American values and keep us safe, it will include English only, stop and frisk, increase the size of border patrol and other law enforcement, and make it easier for the government to ‘spy’ on Americans in a way that will sound like its to protect us from things like Sharia Law (just gonna keep tabs on mosques). Many of these will already be popular with the GOP base so the GOP won’t fight them with an election coming up, the Democrats will be afraid of looking weak before an election and vote against some of it but won’t filibuster.
What comes next depends on how those mid-term elections go.
He has emulated Mussolini from the beginning (way back in 2012 when he was calling for a march on Washington just as Fascists marched on Rome, didn’t happen here but it was the beginning of Trump’s real movement) if the next two years go like I think they will he will then try to use those laws against political enemies (its been reported from people that have worked with him that he keeps an enemies list and that certainly sounds like him) and while I don’t think he will be able to turn himself into leader for life the way Mussolini did (America isn’t weak enough for that) he is following Mussolini’s template.
I am not saying any of this will work but its what I expect to see attempted.
There is another less likely possibility that Donald is just a great con man and knew he could con his way into the job but will now become a more reasonable man once there. I just don’t like counting on a con.
There is no such thing as a reasonable con man.
I’m sticking with Jackson and Harding as my models. I like to buy stuff made in America. And you just can’t get away from the parallels once you start looking at them. Trump started all this by playing King Birther. Ironically, Obama let him play it out because the irradiated dum dum was a distraction that provided him cover for whatever. Dude was better than a late Friday press release before a three day weekend.
JQ Adams and Wilson (or his wife in the end) were also beset by do nothing, obstructionist Congresses (the former led by Jackson himself) who claimed populism but really used that rhetoric to get themselves a bigger piece of the pie by just pushing “the other side” out of the way.
Eight or nine years later, with inequality continuing to be the only progressive datum, the world was plunged into a decade long depression ended by another panic whose pattern of recurrence would only eventually end in war.
This is the part that confuses me. Two years ago, anyone who voted for him would have pegged the trust fund city brat of a clown as the poster boy for “people in the city just don’t… *sniff*… they just don’t get how really really sensitive we pussies out here in the country are.”
I read one study from a prof in Wisconsin about how they not only claimed to be pussies. They also claimed to be stupid. They said the people in Madison and Milwaukee just don’t get country folk. And they blame the people who don’t run the state instead of the GOP because the GOP gives them lip service. And they really don’t like to be called stupid, which they are.
Boo hoo… stupid pussies.
There are plenty of people who want Trump in office. Pretending otherwise is foolish.
Edit: That was supposed to be a reply to BeaverBill.
Probably true… I personally don’t know any but i know plenty who voted for him. I voted for Gary Anderson… he’s a grinder. Actually I voted for Trump… I just wish I didn’t feel so dirty doing it. I do love the big F/U message it sent though.
While glad you like the F/U message but you own that vote and you own whatever Trump does. Doesn’t matter if you feel dirty about it or was just voting for the “lesser of the evils” although I have no clue how any sane person could see someone running as an authoritarian as the lesser of the evils but to each their own.
To me, there is nothing more evil than an authoritarian.
Sure there is… a special interest liberal who will continue running the country into the ground.
Ah, yes. Because the country is so terrible right now. I keep forgetting America is such a shit hole.
Too bad she’s not a liberal. That’s why she lost.
Trump most closely aligns with Warren and Sanders in his political philosophies as stated over the years. He’s a vain man, so he flip-flops… a lot. And he has never made anything resembling sense trying to square his intuition with reality. But his intuition is somewhat correct, and he always came back to the populist messages, flawed as his were.
But the only road home now is to revolt against the GOP and become that liberal who will run the country into the ground. Buried under all the hateful spew that was his hook, he has always said the country will get a reset under him… again, in less elegant terms.
But do you think he’s going to hire Warren at Treasury and ask Bernie to head up a commission to examine campaign financing in order to draft legislation… at which point Bernie reaches into his case and pulls out a piece of paper and says, “Here”?
Or do you think he can’t get home anymore because he is now beholden to all the same people the morerer evil was?
To clarify how liberals performed, we just didn’t vote for her. And it hurt her in the states she thought were her firewall. She made the same mistake you all are making when you try to stereotype liberals. Her campaign was relentless with the Bernie Bro idiocy throughout. But Bernie Bros were not disaffected white males, as they stereotyped them. We’re thoughtful policy wonks who know what does and does not work in this country because we have had past experience or we have faith that our country has the know how to do what the best country in the world at solving a problem does… better.
And we’re not just white. And we’re not just women. We are a set percentage across the board of all walks of life. Some of the women may have held their noses long enough to vote for her if ONLY to give their daughters at least a dim star in the night sky to look at. But it’s pretty difficult to take the Bernie Bro barrage even if it’s incorrectly aimed at other than you.
We said the greatest indicator of who a president will be are:
1. what he says
2. who owns him
The first is obvious, though, many of you didn’t really bother to listen to him… or her, for that matter. The second is now quite clear on the domestic side. And since Koch Industries was out with a bunch of, “Can’t we all just get along? Think of the children,” propaganda ads the day after, I’m guessing the Russian connection is more real than I was willing to think.
It’s also odd that the Trump campaign denied talking to the Russian delegation. I mean, they just knee-jerk denied it. Wouldn’t it make sense that they and other delegations who were serious world players get to talk to the campaigns and just feel each other out in order to gauge common interests? I would expect my candidate to do that. Why deny it like it’s something you need to hide?
The best way to describe the anger we have toward the Dems right now is the report of the staffer who lashed out at Donna Brazile.
Some of the youngsters went along to get along, because they know Trump is a nasty piece of work who sold his soul to the people who would have us all live in Bakersfield with Kansas’ economy and dominionism for all… if the latter even suits their needs any more.

This thread will self destruct in about 27 more posts. RIP general thread.
Heh heh…
Thank you
We’re getting a basketball thread right?
Nice CNN. They interviewed a trump protestor on live tv the other night. He was really outspoken about the popular vote vs electoral vote, etc…..
Then, as the interview ends, the in studio anchor calls him out as being a CNN camerman who was just posing as a protestor gor tv.
https://youtu.be/QSfS2u-SmoI
Now that I am pointing out that he is an HRC protester (because I listened to the actual words that came out of his actual mouth… patience grasshopper), you will start getting down votes from the people who think up/down votes matter.
Sorry.
It occurs to me that I spoiled your fun.
http://pac-12.com/videos/oregon-states-mckenzie-redberg-finds-herself-through-air-force-service-returns-home-corvallis
Wow – and OSU women’s soccer defeated Oregon, in Eugene, 1-0, in their last game Neither team has a very good W-L record, but what a good way for the Beavs WS to close their regular season.
What I really don’t understand about this election is that it seems like both sides think they have some sort of moral high ground to stand on, more so than any election I can remember since I was old enough to vote. There’s a ridiculous amount of hate crimes being perpetrated by both sides, and every time something happens to paint the other side in any sort of negative light hundreds of thousands of people gleefully post them on every piece of social media known to man as if it’s something to gloat over.
The fact of the matter is that we’re all human beings at the end of the day and both sides should be disgusted at the lack of humanity being shown on a constant basis in America right now.
You don’t really understand it because you still think there are/were only two sides.
But, just to entertain this naivete for a second, what hate crimes do you speak of from “both” sides? That’s a new one to me. From what spring does that line of reasoning flow?
Near my work (near lloyd center in portland) there was a ton of vandalism on buildings in the area with “fuck trump” and “kill trump” spray painted everywhere by last night’s protestors. Would the latter be protected by free speech when it’s directed at the president elect? Seems like a pretty risky message to be spreading.
I don’t think so. As much as the SS would hate to do it, they need to track down any threat to POTUS, no matter the level of the threat. It could be a thread that unravels the whole celebrity clothing line… made by workers with little hands… in Bangladesh.
Its not automatically illegal and is protected by free speech unless it can be proven that it is a valid threat. Which seems really unlikely considering it occurred in Portland and Trump is on the East coast.
But the left told me words are violence!
This British liberal gets it, btw:

Right smack on.
And you said in no uncertain terms that the pen isn’t mightier than the sword.
You’re the one who asked to get the pointy end of me. Deal with it.
Or do you not like to be held accountable for anything you do or say, like the Donald. You have a right to set the parameters of free speech through an election, but you’re too big a wuss to deal with the parameters you set? Remember that armed sedition and challenging the validity of the election and challenging the legal qualifications of the winner are your parameters as stated and previously performed by your candidate.
You’re going to complain about some anarchists throwing rocks and bricks and spray painting stuff? Oh yeah… you don’t know who the anarchists are. Your duplicity is linear. It doesn’t matter. You’re going to complain about that when it should be much worse according to you not a week ago?
That’s pathetic.
Who are you even talking to?
*what kind of really stupid person
Someone who doesn’t believe he should be accountable for his words or deeds but believes others should.
I’m pretty sure it’s illegal when it’s spray painted on someone else’s property without their permission.
That’s what I would think.
I voted for Trump! He is orange like carrots.how could I not like that?

They come in colors?
Omg carrot heaven! I like carrots of all colors. Thanks Jack. I needed to see that
Sorry… metaphors don’t cut it for how fucked we are.
You may have heard mention from me about something referring to water wars. That was a sort of a joke before last week. Get your mother fucking ass to a clean water source that can’t be compromised by those who would have you believe…
Why should I tell you? You’re a fucking idiot.
