You can listen here.
- Greaves mentions that McMaryion would call teammates at 7am on a Saturday to go throw.
- Everyone is terrified of the Ohio State game. Me, too. (a) Why was this game ever scheduled and (b) Why didn’t we try to get out of it? “Money” isn’t a good enough answer. Players health is on the line, and fanbase morality is also on the line.
- Sprague makes a claim that NFL players are being drafted according to stars. So the guys being drafted most are 5 and 4 star guys. I’m not sure this is true. I read the most represented bracket is 3-star. This makes sense since most college players fall in the 3-star category.
- More rumblings that Smith isn’t good with interviews, etc. Is this why we’re seeing so much Riley? If so, Smith wasn’t ready to be a HC.
- Sprague makes good points at the end of the podcast about work ethic and making sacrifices as a team to take steps. Mentions the 2006 team had players leave parties at 11pm so they could be fresh the next day for practice. I’m not sure how big a problem this was under GA, but it’s a good holier-than-thou-high-horse rant. Sounds like a lot of this is on the players. Maybe GA broke their will. Smith doesn’t seem like a guy to inspire that, though. Are we recruiting apathetic players or creating them?
- I missed the Hawaii/recruiting debacle they mention at the beginning of the podcast. Can someone fill me in?
Conclusion: we’re going to be bad for a while, yet we didn’t have to be, had our former coaches made better roster decisions, players made sacrifices, and our current AD made better decisions. We Are OSU!
The Ohio State game was scheduled becuase that’s when ga was expected to have a competitive team with a seasoned QB. Oops. And yes money is more important than anything. It’s like +1 million.
If a player was a high star recruit, they are more likely to get drafted, but not necessarily higher in the draft. They certainly get more chances.
Smith might just be choosing to avoid the media and Riley seems happy to be in front of a camera. If Smith benefits from that, then fine. It really only upsets this blog to see Riley that much.
Leadership on teams is built from within. Losing makes it hard to find good leaders. Those teams were used to competing.
As for Hawaii, someone fucked up big time. But it’ll be a minor penalty, like losing some official visits.
Gary wanted another shot at Urban to see if he could score at least once.
[insert cheerleader joke here]
Why?
Are you willing to go on record? Nobody else is.
Bring the truth, or bring bullshit.
It’s a joke.
I don’t know how GA gets the trifecta of labels that should be applied to Wiscy’s athletic department.
Drunk, stupid and rehab?
Bret Bielema circa 2009-10
Getting an underling pregnant?
Bo Ryan… before he “retired”
Sleeping around with cheerleaders?
Barry Alvarez
Oh… I know.
OSU fans are soft in the head and were influenced by Russian trolls who are really really well versed in Wisconsin AD rug-sweeping operations.
If we would have gone to the Rose Bowl, there would also have been rumors that GA exposed himself to a donor at an official event and was being threatened with a lawsuit… and that it was swept under the rug by the AD comping tickets to the game.
Maybe we can start a rumor about one of GA’s sons:
http://articles.latimes.com/1999/may/14/news/mn-37130
Ftr, I’m not saying any of the above rumors are true… except the parrot. That one angered me then and still does for whatever reason.
What I’m saying is that all of these were attached to Wisconsin while GA was leaving, but they weren’t attached to GA… until we had butthurt Wiscy fans hanging around.
That one’s for you, BG.
I don’t believe in coincidences like that.
That parrot story is really messed up. Sociopath
1. Neato.
2. The tOSU game was scheduled about four or five years ago. Bobby D said in an interview that he got the offer of a big payday on a one-off, and he ran it through Riley. Riley said, yeah, that would be neat for the guys. GA wanted out of it and grumbled as much several times. Money is why.
3. He would do better to say that stars matter in winning on the college level given proper player types end up in systems that complement their talents. Over time, the most successful college teams will have the highest ratings. But when you run the numbers for the NFL rosters (and pro bowl rosters), it’s about 50/50 in the 4+/3- ratio. Running the numbers for rosters and average career spans in the NFL says that every spot should be filled by a 4+ talent. The only misses would be any 5* that didn’t make a roster. It’s about a 60% chance a 5* makes the NFL… 40% for a 4*. So their numbers have a long way to go to claim proficiency. It doesn’t matter what the percentage is for 3-* players, because every single one of them is a miss. In the end, the teams that get the best looking players on campus then filters them through their system and sends off those they don’t want as transfers do better over time. But anyone who tells you that they can rate any recruiting info beyond maybe 8 to 10 teams is bullshitting you. The standard deviations don’t allow them to claim anything more, and they don’t even get to claim what they do within that scope.
4. I don’t really care.
5. Color me impressed when not going to parties the night before training is common sense rather than leaving them early being a sacrifice.
6 We’re morons.
*5… if leaving at 11 is indeed early.
I wonder if the star rating system would be more proficient if they only focused on the linemen.
Is Bartoo still reading here?
I would guess linemen ratings (on both sides) more accurately reflect success in the long term. Again, success is not middling, rising to good for a period. Success is winning your conference at least once for as many years as there are teams in your conference, given allowances for dynastic entities over that long a span.
Nothing else is really that great.
Trying to think of another industry where accurately predicting outcomes at a 50% clip is considered a success.
Gambling?
USA today has set the bar low.

Holy Shit, 125th out of 130.
So you’re telling me there’s a chance!
We’re in the top 5……if it’s a count down list.
If Rice and Kansas are there, it’ll be like the old days.
Does this mean our hoops team gets back to being a perennial Tourney team?
Nope, we just missed the top 5. Don’t want to overachieve.
Re: The NYT article about Heimlich. I read into the comments, most of which were harsh. The only relief was a great many of them referred to the university as Oregon – for once I didn’t mind. However did the NYT find the woman who went into her closet (not the usual reference) and collapsed (or whatever) to interview? Strange.
I wonder if MLB teams will read the comments and if Luke will, again, go undrafted. He is a very, very good pitcher but is he, even so, worth the risk?
I wish these reporters of these publications would respect the gravity of the topic they report. I also read some of the comments, and many said he must be guilty because he plead guilty and was convicted of a felony.
There’s nothing in the reporting to tell them otherwise. In fact, they seem to legitimize the O’s laziness… which became libel per se when the facts did become clear (no thanks to them).
Fortunately, Canzano has weighed in on the matter again to let us know how we should think and feel. He talks about Brenda Tracy not being included on the committee of the so called Heimlich Rule but it takes all of about 2 minutes on Twitter to see she lacks the rationale to serve in that capacity. I believe her tweet today was “Fvck your fandom”.
Dolphin Boy is just evil.
sadbeaver :-(
Prediction:
If we’re not bad, we won’t be great. But people will conflate being better than their expectations with greatness.
We are OSU.
Beavers football has not meaningfully improved in so long it’s just getting boring. Recycled Riley spawns conspiracy theories (e.g. Smith was the means to Riley’s “return”) and his presence doesn’t inspire confidence that Smith/Lindgren/Tibs will be difference makers…no QB to be optimistic about….No clear timeline for Barne’s tenure to end…
I remember Dolphin Boy saying the AD had to meet with Andersen’s approval because football is the big $$$ generator of college sports….I bet nobody cares about what Smith thinks if the OSU AD.
Is anyone going to watch this season, out of morbid curiosity if nothing else? I’d like to believe the D and tackling improve, wish the best fir AP, but doubt that’s not enough to pay the opportunity cost of doing something else with my Saturdays….
I’m not sure if I’ll watch. Probably watch game 1 and go from there. I’ve only missed a few games ever, so this will be interesting.
If @ Ohio State is the opener, you’ll have to watch more than one. That game may indicate nothing unless Smith eat al surprise…and I don’t mean upset, but rather preparedness, attention to detail, consistent effort.
Al’s surprise doesn’t sound very appetizing.
Maybe you should start with game 2. I’m afraid game 1 might disappoint everyone, unless Meyer holds back the reigns.
I feel sorry for the week 1 starter at QB. He will likely be out for week 2.
All of the Beav’s QBs come down with mysterious ailments, injuries. With nobody to throw the ball, Pettibonehead is brought in as a consultant as Smith…
It would be funny if JS just brought out the practice squad.
Post game:
“We only scheduled this game for the money. There’s no point in risking the health of our starters for a meaningless game. Mail our check so we can get on with our season.”
Record the games; if it sucks, won’t take much of your time.
Five minutes of finding, recording and deleting is relatively too much time to spend on this self-destructive organization.
I could care less about OSU football, especially when I see the Moran’s lazy reporting being turbocharged by the NYT. It’s spreading like wildfire from there: MSN, etc. Anyone notice that both appeared in the month of May before the biggest series of the year? Surely a coincidence.
Once again, OSU fails a student athlete of theirs by refusing to comment, letting him hang out there to dry. Correct that, Ed Ray fails again. OSU has at their disposal two reports of extensive length that give universities (or prospective employers) ALL the ammunition they need to defend Heimlich being on the team.
Kurt Streeter’s article is just a watered down version of Moran’s original malpractice. All he managed to do was minimize the use of some misplaced and inflammatory legal terms. Brenda Tracy continues to (willfully) confuse crimes committed by an adult with those of a juvenile offender, and the whole purpose of juvenile jurisprudence for that matter.
.
It’s a steeper climb than before, but Martin Meyer has his gears in motion on this. He needs help though: he’s having a hard tracking down Streeter’s email address so if anyone here can help out, please post it. Could be a new op-ed in the works.
Speaking of media, some radio shows need to have the courage to invite Meyer on the air to discuss this case and dismiss the misinformation. Or as Meyer himself once said, what we need is a journalist with sufficient courage to see the success story that Heimlich’s self-rehabilitation represents.
I did find it newsworthy that Heimlich and his family have finally conceded they got bad legal advice back in the day.
I’m not getting why Heimlich would speak with the NYT now? It doesn’t make any fucking sense. All I can guess is that he thinks a “national denial” will help get him drafted?
I think in his conversations with scouts they are telling him he needs to get in front of the story prior to the draft in the mistaken belief (by him and the scouts who are recruiting him) that the media will treat the story with the nuance it deserves. In a way, Streeter’s piece in the NYT is a step backward because Moran, at least, referenced studies and federal policy that should have informed the university’s outlook. Moran refused to study those documents and the university short-armed their application (both last year and this week) but as Jack noted above, readers of the highest circulation paper in the country have no clue as to the legal context the original case occurred within. Meyer is an army of one trying to fight this off. He will be in Corvallis this weekend, by the way.
Those studies and policy notes were given to Moran by the university. They were most likely referred to Streeter as well.
Another example of OSU not being able to manage progress on an issue.
They can’t even get out of their own way. Barnes and the PR folks aren’t earning their keep. There’s lessons to be learned from last year, from other examples, and improvements to be made, but they’re simply not capable.
You’re obviously not an employer of any kind. Why don’t you read some of the laws out there. Then get back to us on how much anyone who isn’t a judge in the State of Washington can speak about the adjudication of a minor in the State of Washington.
Luke going out and trying to tell his story at this time is Luke’s business. Anyone who thinks OSU should say a word about it beyond confirming that he’s a student at the school is just naive, bordering on infantile. The same was pretty much true last year.
Meyer is of the opinion that Heimlich should never talk about this, but he is also of the view that the university has the affirmative obligation to defend his status as a student athlete more stoutly than they are
So they should leave the caps lock on?
There’s not much they can say about it. Just because his visibility is greater due to his abilities doesn’t mean the university can say anything more than they would for any other student in the same position. They can say that he’s a student in good standing and pass along information that might lead to more informed reporting–lead a horse to water. But they can’t officially make any comments about a juvenile proceeding.
I would expect as much from them if it were me. If they started winging it, I’d have a mess of a time trying to keep track of the noise. It would just complicate matters. And future interviews would have me defending (or contradicting) what they say, rather than telling my story… or not telling my story.
Casey has to be fuming the way the university continually refuses to defend his program and players.
So why doesn’t he say something about it?
When you figure that one out, my answer will be, “Precisely.”
He’ll say it when he retires prematurely.
What will he say?
My school didn’t say what I wanted to say in the heat of the moment… and neither did I.
?
No email for Streeter to be found. He could try a DM on Twitter.
Sometime last summer – post-Omaha- there was a tweet from Heimlich’s non-OSU coach; don’t know what you call the outfit. It said simply – paraphrase – LH trained with us/me this spring and we continue to work with him. Please do not contact us/me with regard to this matter. If only Ed Ray would just say that LH is a student in good standing and a valuable member of the Oregon State baseball team.
There was no please don’t contact statement. It was the opposite. They said if anyone has any problems with it, they can contact him/them any time.
Mea culpa. You are so right. My recollection was someone who wasn’t going to indulge in crap media discussion and fuzzy recall had the conclusion all wrong.
It did seem to be a pretty stoic statement at the time.
Luke’s statement from last year,
“I have taken responsibility for my conduct when I was a teenager. As a 16 year old, I was placed on juvenile court probation and ordered to participate in an individual counseling program. I’m grateful for the counseling I received, and since then, I realized that the only way forward was to work each day on becoming the best person, community member and student I can possibly be. I understand that many people now see me differently, but I hope that I can eventually be judged for the person I am today.I’m so proud of our team’s accomplishment and don’t want to be a distraction. Therefore, I’ve respectfully requested to be excused from playing at this time. ”
Doesn’t sound like the story he’ telling today…
Like I said, I’m actually stunned that Luke granted an interview to the NYT. We have to ask what’s the motivation at this point in time? All I can come up is that he’s concerned about his draft worthiness and thinks this will help him.
Nothing in that statement contradicts the story he’s telling today.
He’s certainly not taking responsibility. He’s blaming the attorney now.
Taking responsibility for what?
For his conduct as a teenager.
So?
Why doesn’t the attorney also have to take responsibility for his or her actions? Taking responsibility for poorly considered actions isn’t the same as taking responsibility for poor advice.
Jack is right. No contradiction. The only thing new is that he gave the interview. There would have been no story without the interview because otherwise there is nothing new from what Moran published last year. Thus Meyer is right: keep your mouth shut.
Doesn’t sound like the story he’s telling today ??
Please read the entire piece Kerry Eggers wrote in February. Luke has ALWAYS said nothing happened and the counselors and judge in Washington do not dispute that.
A small sample of what Eggers wrote:
Through two probationary officers, a reconciliation counselor, a mental health counselor, meetings with pastors and with his family, Luke was given many opportunities to change his story. He has always maintained his innocence of the charges.

Cheating for Dummies?
At the bottom of the article…………
THREE AND OUT
1. It may be time for a fourth edition of Cheating For Dummies, because the sheer stupidity of this latest example is astounding. Oregon State mailed recruiting information to several current Hawaii players. But the Beavers didn’t mail it to their hometowns. They mailed it to the Hawaii players on Hawaii’s campus.
Tampering happens all the time in college sports, but there’s a way these things are done. You call the player’s high school coach and say something to the tune of “Hey, are all your former players happy at their schools?” You don’t mail the player a letter at his campus address.
We can thank Hawaii coach Nick Rolovich for bringing this to our attention. Clearly the staff at Oregon State needs to sign up for my special three-day Cheating For Dummies workshop. Hopefully, the Beavers won’t mind that I only accept cash.
Great press there Beavs.
Once again the usual suspects are pushing their fake outrage over Luke. Tabloid artist Canzano and also Dennis Dodd are playing their virtue signal cards again.
It really looks like he was innocent and I hope a pro team takes a chance on him. They could probably get him at a discount because of this.
Dennis any relation to Westley Allan? Maybe crackpot reporter Moron should run a background check. Get on that shit Moron.
Looking like he’s innocent is a bias you hold. According to the law, he’s in a kind of limbo where he’s neither guilty nor innocent. I guess this stuff seems like semantics to the reporters who ignore the language they employ in their laziness. But it isn’t.
I also hold the same bias you do. But I do so only after reading the documents (transcribed… but trusted) with statements from the judge and counselor who go out of the way many times to say something to the effect of, “without admitting that you are officially innocent.” People in those positions don’t spend the extra energy to say those things in the face of someone who consistently maintains innocence, except in the precise documentation which adheres to his status. That last is something of a slap in the face to those people, and they would just use procedural language.
But again, that’s my bias. I confirm my bias with coincidental dynamics which the players refer to in the whole of the dialogue. I can’t trust the O, because they can’t even get the basic language correct… let alone getting many of the facts correct… let alone telling a complete story. Dolphin Boy is not willfully ignorant of the language and facts. But he sure likes to play to his audience’s overwhelming ignorance, as planted in their minds by him.
A Picture of Dolphin Boy Gray?
I trust Pat Casey and the team most in this. He’s not a person to take wins in lieu of something like this. And he’s at a point in his career where the process is more important than the wins. It’s probably why he wins so much. The team’s success has not flagged, as it would do if it was a fractured team. All those comments you see in the papers don’t just disappear from the back of the minds of that large a group, especially within that stereotype, just because someone is a teammate. In fact, the more likely outcome would be alienation. There’s nothing in it for them to do the hard thing, except that it’s the right thing. And even then, there’s nothing in it for them to to be effusively supportive of him. This team would find a different way to be elite without Luke. They were going to do it this year before all this noise happened
Jack is correct again. Heimlich is in limbo. He’s been convicted by an ignorant media, undefended by legal counsel when he was a youth and not as vigorously as he should be by Ed Ray, BUT, the only entity that has actual jurisdiction–the state of Washington–has expunged the record. It’s as if the incident never happened, presuming it did. Jack makes a key point above: legally it doesn’t matter if Heimlich perpetrated the act, or not: he was a justice involved minor who put his life back in order, the way the system is supposed to work. He only had the bad form to choose a life venue that made him a target by vigilantes.
Probably some GMs told him he needs to issue a denial before they can draft him
this ^^^^^^
Or his attorney told him to do this before he sues.
This would be awesome. I would love to see him sue the Oregonian for damages.
He is now also fighting the corrosive nature of “social media” which has effectively negated the whole concept of innocence until proven guilty. Tweets and posts have replaced pitchforks and torches for justice via the mob. Civilization going backwards.
Innocent before guilty? He pleaded guilty and issued a statement taking responsibility for his actions. He wasn’t wrongly convicted.
If his brother was willing to go that far in the legal system and still does not talk to Luke, it says a lot. They seem like a family that would keep things in house.
I don’t think the family made a smart decision by bringing this up again in the media. Meeting privately with MLB teams and making their case in person would have been more effective. That way a team can come out and defend picking Luke.
the point is, Bill, he was never legally convicted. His sister in law convicted him; Moran and Canzano convicted him, but (again) the entity with jurisdiction never convicted him–they treated him, and successfully at that.
He neither plead guilty nor was he convicted of anything.
You need to get the libel out of your head. He agreed to be adjudicated of having committed an offense.
You’re correct that he’s legally not innocent (or wasn’t at that time). But he’s also not legally guilty. I know it’s a weird technicality, but it does explain why choosing this path would seem easier for juveniles who even get to make such a deal.
We know our case against you is super strong. So we’re willing to ignore some of your offenses if you agree to adjudication of having committed one offense. You don’t even have to admit that you did what the alleged victim say you did, that’s how strong our case is. All you have to do is take this agreement, go to some counseling, be on probation and register as a sex offender for five years.
Then it all goes away. We can do that for a child like you.
Otherwise, we’re going to make your family go broke trying to defend you. We’ll make your niece cry in court so we can make everyone think you’re the one making her cry. Your brother will not get custody of your niece (or other children). And you’ll more than likely end up in a juvenile detention facility for an extended stay, aka in the system… as a child molester.
And it will be all your fault, kid.
^^^^^Exactly^^^^^^
“He neither plead guilty nor was he convicted of anything.”
Boy, is that true? Everyone keeps saying that he plead guilty (despite saying he was innocent). Is there a source on him not actually pleading guilty? That would poke giant holes in all of their slander.
It’s a rather annoying reality.
http://angrybeavs.com/baseball/13696
English is not the friend of the reporters in this saga. It contradicts their narrative at
everymost turns. It also makes them libel.
I think enough of Dolphin Boy that he would know all this. That he lies to his listeners in order to sate his avarice makes him a garbage person… at best.
I feel bad for Brenda Tracy because she has shown herself to be not intelligent enough to be anything but Dolphin Boy’s tool in this.
I’m almost to the point that I’m feeling bad for football for them accepting Quitoriano…. but not… since I can’t trust that program to do anything right.
The adjudication of a minor seems to be a strikingly difficult concept for the majority to understand. I don’t get it, it’s happening everyday. Minors are doing what the court has ordered in order to have a chance at a normal life. I don’t have a problem with it, we want productive members of society, right?
BTW……….FTD.
I agree with this sentiment!
Doesn’t FTD have something to do with flowers?
NYT & Oregonlive = fake news
Journalism is dead. Only bias and agenda-pushing in the quest for influence and clicks remain.
That would be bullshit rolled in baloney.
Every story has a truth. The “fake news” bullshit mantra is more fake than the news it calls out. t was beyond crying wolf to anyone but the mentally deficient many moons ago.
Jordan Campbell signed his Financial Aid Agreement today. Listed as a Guard. I may watch the first half of the basketball season if the first 2-3 games appear to resemble basketball being played.
Ah come on…you know you’ll be watching.
From interview with Gee Scott Jr. (4 star WR) and Lucas Aguilar
“I wouldn’t mind going out to Oregon State (this fall) and checking out the campus and seeing the football atmosphere there, that’s one thing that jumps out at me about schools like Wisconsin and Notre Dame, the football spirit, energy, and fans are tremendous!”
So we probably won’t get him…..
Definitely won’t get him if that’s what he’s looking for. What he will find are 80 year old farts justifying Riley and our awful AD. The opposite of football spirit and energy.
What he’ll find is empty seats due to season ticket holders being divided with raising prices of season tickets, donations.
One person is willing to stop their long standing season tickets because they aren’t willing to pay an extra $100 on top of their season tickets and mandatory donation level, to park in the donor lot they’ve always parked at; instead they are now “forced” to park in the parking structure to avoid the extra $100. To be fair, they’re actually parking closer to the stadium for the same price they’ve always been paying instead of paying $100 to park in a non covered donor lot that is farther away from the stadium. It’s all about perspective I guess.
A brief, mostly empty preview of B10, where S-I predicts Ohio State to be class of conference again. They have a QB set to transfer who will have 2 years of eligibility to play – hmmmm.
Also notes on Nebraska. Over 86,800 fan’s for “The Return” of Coach Frost….man, they guy has it so good following Riley….

Ugh…i see Brenda Tracy has decided it’s been too long since she mentioned OSU/Luke.
Why is it that my support of a baseball team automatically gets me labeled as a fan of child sex crimes?
I’m not a Trump supporter. If Nick Madrigal supports Trump, does that make me a Trump supporter every time I watch Nick play baseball?
Great, now I hate myself.
Opinions here are divided regarding Mike Parker. However, if you’ve read the NYT piece, I gotta say his daughter Lydia is one stand up gal!
She gets it!
Here is her twitter post responding to the NYT, as retweeted by Lundeberg:
“Inappropriate take to act like Luke’s presence on the team is hurting survivors. I was raped when l was six, and l cheer my heart out for Luke on the mound and in his life pursuits. Quoting other survivors who can’t forgive is not telling the whole story. Again.”
That is not an approved progressive narrative, Survivor.
That’s as fucking progressive as you can get.
Wanna try again?
lol.. she linked Angrybeavs too.
I’m not twitter savvy at all, but did go to Lydia’s page and think it is worth a few moments of your time. Some of the things I appreciated:
-“To all the people who have become lawyers all of a sudden and are demanding that Heimlich be punished further: please read what a real lawyer had to say”–(accompanied by a link to AB and Meyer’s essay)
-And this exchange:
Bob Congdon said:
Great response Lydia. A mature & kind way of saying we can’t agree to disagree about LH as he, his family, his teammates & their families are being unfairly & unjustly mistreated. LH has become a heroic example of rehabilitation & redemption. Let grace & forgiveness prevail!!!
Lydia responded:
Thank you! That is so true. And peace and healing will come to the Heimlich family when the media stops beating the dead horse. Not when he stops playing baseball. He isn’t hurting anyone. Continually bringing up the past does hurt, though.
What link? I’m not seeing it.

Took me to her post of May 7 and after a moment a box appeared referencing AB; clicking there brought up the AB thread of Meyer’s essay.
My terminology could be wrong, but I did get to AB from her post in that way.
Please let me know if that works for you angry.
Brenda Tracy seems to think that her opinion is the only opinion that matters. She’s the self appointed morality dictator for the NCAA.
I was a victim of sexual abuse and have no problem that Luke is on the team. A. Because he probably never did it, and B. Because you should be willing to give a mulligan to people who do something wrong when they are a minor.
Tracy seems to get advocacy and attention seeking confused. Heimlich’s case has nothing to do with sexual abuse on a college campus, but she keeps trying to lump it together with her cause. The nuances escape her and all she does is keep playing the same note over and over. If people think Washington laws concerning minors are stupid than say so or do something about it. Otherwise, shut the fuck up. Heimlich’s case is over and done and except for a misapplication of Oregon law, none of us would have known one damn thing about this!
” except for a misapplication of Oregon law”
Or a young, click hungry reporter being led by a vindictive sister-in-law.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the citation for not registering in Oregon is what lead Moran and his numbnuts to the trail. Otherwise, despite his team of ace background checkers, nothing would have been available.
That was their explanation. But I don’t know of anyone on any side that believes it.
“Otherwise, despite his team of ace background checkers, nothing would have been available”
Actually, before being sealed, the records were available to the public. Moran claims the erroneous citation by the Benton County Sheriff was the tipoff that led him to request public records as part of a background check. He also claims that background checks are “routine” when writing an in depth article about an athlete. Can he have it both ways?…..maybe
Some AB’s here checked with the court and found that Moran’s request for records did take place right after the Benton County Sheriff’s involvement, however, the possibility still exists that the court records were provided to Moran by a party to the case prior to that. I believe the girl’s mother would have had the ability, and motive to do just that.

I’m not typically a spelling police but if I were trying to stay relevant as a public figure I would make sure my tweets were free of grammar and spelling errors
How did my comment end up there? Sorry, if I had errors, I wasn’t thinking about an expanded audience. I probably would have left out the profanity!
Fuck that.
Did she get her picture taken with dolphin boy?
She says this is about eligibility. Is she seriously trying to say adjudicated minors should not be allowed to go to college? Or just not play baseball in college? What about tennis? Or chess? Can they work out at Dixon? What about intramural volleyball? Where is the “Brenda Tracy moral eligibility line”?
I was going to repeat for the umpteenth time that she is apt when she stays in her lane but shown to be not too bright when people like Dolphin Boy treat her as a tool.
I guess this is exhibit #37 in that category.
Stop picking on her for the ignorance that abounds in this case. She’s just not geared to digest this properly, and Dolphin Boy knows this when he trots her out for ancillary comments on his clickbait evil.
A thoughtful Tracy would know better than this. We have to help educate her as well as everyone else. And it wouldn’t hurt to stop being antagonistic to her and anyone else that buys the initial “reporting” done by the O.
That libel per se is your baseline. Most people don’t have the wherewithal to question that libel per se. In fact, they source it when they go off on some stupid rant about something irrelevant.
Sound familiar?
Stop being antagonistic to those who are only tools. Start beating the slow and low drums of just being right.
They’ll come around.
What are the 7 laws? I don’t tweet, twit, twat or I’d ask her to itemize them. It’s about eligibility, she says. Can a university. particularly a public one, disallow a person who has completed sentencing requirements, or, as in Luke’s case, doesn’t have a record, from participating on an athletic team or any other extracurricular activity? Brenda Tracy is a good example of someone who was given a bit of power and has exceedingly abused it.
She’s abused nothing.
She is ostensibly truth-telling.
Dolphin Boy knows this. That’s why Dolphin Boy is evil. He makes her do evil because he’s a master manipulator… well… regionally.
It doesn’t take much to make the stupids think a turd is gold.
What also doesn’t make sense is she forgave Riley, who was a total bozo in how he handled her situation, and yet she doesn’t forgive Heimlich, who by many accounts (including the victim who remembers none of this) didn’t even do what he was convicted of and just had bad legal advice and a jealous/insane family.
Riley was smart, he earned himself a free pass by handing the mic over to her and allowing her to start her career as an on campus public advocate/guest speaker for various teams around the country. Riley/Nebraska opened the door for her to become a public figure and helped amplify her voice.
Ironic…
Just read the front page of her website. It’s all there.
https://www.brendatracy.com/home
Then click on the “booking” link. Pictures from her first paid speaking event, a visit to Nebraska to speak to coach Riley’s team.
If Pat Casey paid her to come speak at Oregon State, she’d move on and look for her next gig.
I know I sound cynical, but it’s what I believe.
I totally agree….dilly dilly!
Yeah, I don’t get what eligibility has to do with it. You either have to accept that minors can be adjudicated, allowed to have their record wiped clean and given a fresh start or you want incarceration. I wonder if these people who want Heimlich to receive arbitrary continued punishment are pro death penalty also?
I’m sure Oregon State will be glad this will all be in the rearview come June/July when their subscription to the Tracy/Canzano morality club updates finally expires as Luke’s career with OSU ends.
What’s that? They forgot to cancel their subscription and are getting an automatic 4 year renewal for their football team?
OSU, you’re breaking my will…..
Believe it or Not!…………PAC12 announcers still acting like they’d not be surprised to see ucks go to post season. Even saying Omaha is a good possibility.
Lots of love for Horton…………..unrealistic IMHO
scoreless going to the t5 in swooshville.
I wish I could have slipped the announcers a note that read….”The Ducks are an aimless, underperforming team lead by an over the hill coach who looks like he could stroke out at any second”.
PAC12 announcers are always going to cater to the biggest fan bases. Plus they’re probably getting a little something extra from Uncle Phil. As Al Czervik would say, “Keep it fair, keep it fair”
Grenier gets the 6th consecutive hit for the Beavs, a 2 RBI double.
5-0 Beavs still batting in the t6
Beavs up 9-0
Is anybody watching the game? Is Jesus in the stands tonight straight back from home plate?
I don’t know about Jesus but Kevin Gunderson is.
There was a game on TV at PK a few seasons back where a dude wearing a white robe thing with long hair and a beard was sitting quietly behind home. It was sort of a misty night also, someone here commented that Jesus was in the park. It was weird, but it was also Eugene, so maybe par for the course?
I didn’t see that guy while watching tonight.
Gundy just made the Oregon O with his hands and then pointed both thumbs down.
Umm… his name could be Kubla.
What makes you think his name is Jesus? Is his name something other than Aramaic and meant to fucking whitey-ize Christianity?
You know… because.
He was called Jesus in jest, you get that right?
heh heh…
?
Beavs win 10-0
Ducks are not going to the postseason no matter what the announcers say. That is a team that has mailed it in for these last few weeks.
How long before Phil gives in and shit cans whoreton?
Who cares?
Ok. Good point.
Why?
Because?
Good point.
I hope he keeps him for another 20 years.
Final: 10-0 good guys.
Chamberlain, Eisert, and Burns each give up a hit apiece while the Beavs collect 19hits (8 for extra bases).
Joe Casey overslides third on a potential triple, dad’s gonna have something to say about that.
That was cathartic. 9 in a row against the evil empire. Has there been this much of an imbalance of power against them in the last 10 years in baseball? We have to enjoy it because it might be awhile before we beat them again at something.
Hopefully we can carry this momentum into our Stanford series this weekend.
Beating them 5 times is going to tank the Beavers’ RPI! :-p
Their football team still sucks
Eggers up with a piece on the Beavs/Tree series.
This week Casey is more definitive regarding Gambrell:
"Casey says sophomore right-hander Grant Gambrell, who had a poor outing last Sunday, will not be in the rotation. "
Slow learner? Patient teacher? Warts? Boils?………you be the judge.

Does anyone have inside information on how football season ticket sale are going? Are they up or down from last year. My wife and I decided not to renew our season tickets this year. I have been a season ticket holder since 2000. A representative called from the ticket office to ask why we were not renewing and I gave them several reasons mainly due to the hiring of Riley. I could tell the representative had arguments prepared for that reason and instantly started to defend Riley and try to convince me that Smith is the Head Coach and Riley is not etc. with canned responses. Got me to think that since he was so well prepared for that argument, that other ticket holders have expressed the same feelings and have coached the ticket office reps what to say in that situation.
Just know, you’re not alone. I’m betting they will be down 30% or more between riley and just plain being awful to watch.
It’ll be different this year. Remember the tax law changed the way season tickets donations are handled. The tax law eliminated the deduction for the donation. Schools are expecting season ticket holders to drop putting many schools in a bind.
Osu gets the double whammy from being a terrible team and the tax law.
I’ll be they’ll get pretty creative to get people to the games. I was offered terrace passes which I accepted.
A lot of people who used the tax write offs for donations are now having to exceed $24k for as a married couple to even meet the standard deduction. The new tax law will eliminate the need for low-mid level income families from itemizing. Some people don’t care all that much for having the mandatory donation in certain sections because they are more premium seats. They also know they are helping support the athletes they came to watch, but not everyone sees it that way.
Some people don’t see it that way because certain actions supersede thinking that way.
You can see what season ticket seats are available here:
https://ev12.evenue.net/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/SEGetEventInfo?ticketCode=GS%3ABEAVERS%3AF18%3AFS%3A&linkID=oregonst&shopperContext=&pc=&caller=&appCode=&groupCode=FBS&cgc=
Looks like there will be a lot of empty seats come this fall. More than last year. If I had to guess, the first game against Southern Utah will be around the 20-25k range at best. There are a lot of donor seats available.
I got a similar call.
I said I was moving to Nebraska and wouldn’t be able to attend any games.
Then I hung up.
A Heads Up for readers of this blog: Martin Meyer has written an addendum to his original brief in reaction to the NYT story. Hopefully it will be posted on this site before the evening is out.
Beavs strike out on their program changing QB as Bachmeier verbals to Boise St tonight. Didn’t even get the official visit he mentioned he was going to take. Is this the Nemec effect? Riley effect? Smith effect? Or just a sign of how down in the dumps the entire OSU program is?
All signs point towards Paul Piferi being the next target in the pecking order.
More like the fallout from idiotic coaches who don’t know how to recruit either on the level or on the sly.
Get used to smart high caliber athletes continuing to pass on OSU. Smith/Tibs/Lindgren have a long way to go to prove this isn’t the dumpster fire we all know it is and will be.
National awareness of OSU football as a laughingstock and doormat patsy will be reinforced with a nationally televised beat-down/crowning of Buckeyes as early season title contender, as well as the obligatory shots at little OSU trying its best, reminders of the goofy recruiting errors, and oh yeah there is the legend coaching TEs, neat deal, family atmosphere, lunch pail U, stupid pet tricks, bicycles, slip n slides, in & out burgers, Pac12 is soft, qb whisperer……
Beavers football has cursed itself and will continue to make self-inflicted and stupid decisions. I will be surprised if I find myself actually rooting for them at all this season. I kind of want it all to implode just to convince that old guard foolishness to let go of the baby blanket and move on, but that is as delusional as hoping for Beaver victories.
According to St Paul, “Hope never fails”, but he wasn’t a Beaver fan…
When the die hard Oregon State fans start to die, as they are now, we are in a world of hurt.
QB recruiting prowess was that little glimmer of hope we had to cling to for this upcoming class. The 3 headed monster of Smith/Lingren/Riley was supposed to make us an attractive option for QBs. “Look at all the success Smith had recruiting QBs to UW” they said(you think maybe Peterson had something to do with that??….derp)
We were told Riley would be an asset in recruiting, too, yet after Riley talked to guys who were interested they either decommitted or committed elsewhere.
If you notice the tweets, it’s always the coaches fingering themselves when “the legend” Simple Jack comes loafing around their programs.
Players never care, and players never commit. Yeah, he’s a recruiting weapon all right.
he’s a weapon all right.
If Riley were a weapon, what weapon would he be?
I’m going with a dull, rusty sword that has a bowling ball welded to the tip.
I’m going with a blade, being held from the wrong end.

Or one of those medieval mace things with the spikey ball on the chain. But dumbshit is holding on to the ball and flailing around trying to hit people with the stick.
“Look at all the success Smith had recruiting QBs to UW” they said
I’m going to have to make our own “they said” meme, but for now this sums it up okay.

Pretty much how I feel about everything OSU Football related right now. It’s just one kick in the nads after another and for some reason, I keep coming back for more. At some point your nads escape up into your abdomen and you can’t feel it anymore.
If the options are laugh, cry, or indifferent I’ll take laugh. At least it’s fun.
As soon as they hired Riley this became a comic strip program. In fact, I used to create a monthly comic online. Maybe I should revisit that skill for this motley version of da Beavs!
Same. As soon as they announced Riley I became 100% cynical, negative fan.
I thought, “This will be good for the blog and laughs but bad for football/glory on Saturdays”.
I’m kinda over my anger with the dopey half of the fanbase who will never get past the loser mentality. I’ve lashed out at them here a lot. It’s really a them problem, and they’ll get to sit and watch bad teams for years to come, just as they asked for. I’ll laugh at them instead of berate them. Hopefully (I’ll try my best to stick to that). It’s just not worth any energy other than laughing.
If it makes Ya’ll feel better, several months ago he was supposed to be lock for Minnesota. Then Cal and BSU came into the picture. I realize the recent football success has been better, but if you could play in the B1G or PAC 12, why go Smurf Turf?
New thread up.
Washington attorney, advocate for justice, baseball fan, friend of the blog, and all around good guy Martin Meyer responds to the NYT article on Luke.
For those not on twitter, Tinkle found a PG tonight. Antoine Vernon commits to OSU.

Sounds like the Beavs have picked up a new WR in local track star Brayden Durfee. Class of 2017, spent a year running track at Boise St.
Assuming he’s a walkon at this point, but not sure.
Ran a 10.6 100 in hs. Played with the Bledsoe boys at Summit, in Bend.
