  1. So just like that, before most of you even woke up today, the scholarship guys are all signed.
We may still see another walkon. Not sure if Jeremiah Noga is signing somewhere today, but a good bet it will eventually be OSU.

Couple of other guys to maybe watch.
Marcus Mbow announces today. I think he ends up at Purdue, but not sure.
At UCLA, Thomas Cole is a guy to keep an eye on. If he doesnt sign, could be a flip candidate for later. Jason White at Boise would be another possible one. Both are OL.

    • Thomas Cole is off the board. Signed with UCLA.
If MBow and White both sign elsewhere, we will probably see a couple of new OL names start showing up between now and the late period signing. I have a couple in mind but will wait till these other guys are official.

  2. Vidlak and Collins are the two I know. Should dive into some film on the other guys soon.
Would you guys prefer my rankings all at once, or break the rankings down into two: early and normal signings?

    • Most of this class is going to fall into that “early signing” group. There’s only room for a couple more at best right now, and I’m not sure how much the team would rather keep those available for transfers later.

  3. Collins has a really nice offer sheet. Anyone know if he’s a Beav fan? I see we beat out the Ducks for him along with some other highly regarded teams.

  4. Been asked by a few people if I know who is leaving the program via transfer. I dont know.
I guess the message boards are talking about 7-10 players are rumored to be leaving or retiring. Not sure if they have announced any names, other than of course Taylor. Anybody reading about others?

Something to keep an eye on as the team will need to replace several guys via transfer portal over the next few months if this all comes to fruition.

    Let the speculation begin

    • Wonder if he is part of the 7-10, even though he announced he was leaving months ago?
Thinking about position groups that could be thinned, OL, WR, DB, RB, LB all seem like candidates.

I think of guys like Moran, Wellsfry, Watson, Garcia as guys who havent played much and are upperclassmen who might want to find some playing time.
Then i wonder about guys who are far from home, like Reichner and (gasp…) Speights. I know their mom hasnt seen them in forever. And then what about our RBs? Newel/Madison/Lowe/Baylor will have to battle for playing time and Collins will be tough to keep off the field for long.

      • Garcia has played a lot this year. I can’t see him transferring again. Watson’s been a big disappointment as well as Moran but the latter is from position changes and injuries. Might be time for Morris to hang it up.

        • I’m wondering if poor Morris’ body took too much of a beating as a true freshman from having to make all of those tackles on that final, shitty Anderpants team?

          • Well his problems have always been his feet/ankles and hamstring which neither would be from making tackles. Some guys genetics just don’t hold up in contact sports. We had a guy like that on our team in high school. Was fast and talented with good size but could never stay healthy. It’s unfortunate.

I could see Moran maybe coming back if he thinks he has a shot at playing time. He hasn’t really had a chance at safety having been injured when he finally moved to that position. If he can’t crack the two deep I could see him moving on. There will be hardge and riley joining the fold next season and with the emergence of Oladipo mught be crowded.

  5. OT- I read an article that “Prime Time’s” Jackson St recruiting class contains two 4 stars for the first time ever in FCS recruiting history. One is his son, but I guess that still counts.

  6. Through the process of elimination, I think the Beavs will end up signing Jason White. Boise has a small-ish class this year too, and they’ve already signed 3 OLinemen today.

Seems like a pretty good bet he’ll be a Beav. Unless some other teams swoop in and offer him quickly. OSU is probably applying pressure to sign sooner rather than later(just my speculation)

      • If seniors don’t count toward the 85 scholarship cap limit, what’s to stop a team from loading up on seniors this offseason? Other than money

    • Agree with Bill but think it’s not just the QB room. I think on the whole this benefits the have-nots. Talented players buried on depth charts will want out – think this drives most movement. Talent redistribution.

Truly putrid/hopeless teams may lose some players, but luckily we’re out of that phase.

  7. The DL recruiting has been weird to me. I get that a good DT is hard to find and get a commitment but I think I saw that they only offered 2. It almost seems like they don’t see the big 300lb NT as a need which is weird considering our run D has been horrible for forever. Whitley is a question mark if he ever plays again and reichner as well although I don’t really consider him a NT. I wonder if faamoe has the frame to put on 50lbs? A lot of poly guys usually have large frames but I’m sure you all know that. Lol. Seems like they only have Skelton and Bennett as of now. Young guys would have to put on a lot of weight from what they’re listed at now.

Smith said in his presser that they could maybe grab another OL or a playmaker at DL. With the portal most likely being fuller than usual they might be able to get some talented guys in those spots.

It’s really strange that Taylor medically retired to me. Especially right before the ASU game as he’s from Arizona. Not to mention he would be the only healthy starter this week. Never was he mentioned being hurt or injured and there is only one game left and then a possible bowl. Just seems odd but I wish him the best.

      • I know but it makes me wonder if they don’t put huge value in the type of player for their scheme otherwise you would think they would be doing what you said. I can’t imagine they’re so inept that they wouldn’t try that if that’s what they want. Maybe they have some guys that they think can put on the weight. It’s really a head scratcher. I wish a reporter would ask that question.

        • They should. Our EDGE rushers and lack of pressure is all about the lack of block eaters. Our best play for sacks this year is backside cb blitz. That’s high risk.

  8. Injury update from the GT:
Champ, Bradford, Irish, both Wright Brothers all added to the list of those who are out or unlikely for Saturday. JJ seems questionable too.

What do y’all think is needed for a W, aside from big days for Nolan, Lindsey, Harrison, Baylor and Beason on O; and Omar, Austin and Oladapo on D?

  9. Ducks have another all world recruiting class and will provide strength least four more years to u set perform with all of that potential talent.

  10. Anybody here seen Tenet? Any good?
Thinking about renting it tonight. I really liked Inception, so I’m hoping it’s of similar quality.

ESPN ranked the Beavs class #75 and last in the PAC12. Partly due to the small class but there was also no star recruit. AZ class may fall below since they didn’t sign Millen and others today.

    • 5
      1

Highest average ranking per recruit maybe ever but I didn’t look too far back. I know you are reporting the facts but I could care less they are 75. I think smith found some great players that fill needs outside the line areas where he missed. I’m glad he didn’t take projects and have faith he will make moves with more commits and/or transfers.

  12. So terms of the oregon/Cristobal deal being discussed is more reasonable 6 yrs/$27.3m contract. Way lower than the numbers that were being thrown around yesterday and earlier today.
So assuming the school goes ahead and approves the offer, if Auburn wants him, it shouldn’t be too hard to beat that offer.

    • Wow a lot lower than what JC said on the radio. Wonder what the buyout would be. That is becoming the way programs protect against a coach leaving. I’m sure Auburn could come up with the funds no matter the price.

    • USC under Kiffin/Sark/Helton used to be that Pac team over the last decade or so that was listed in the top 10.
Guess they got tired of winning national titles.

  13. So I know the on-field results have been lackluster, but looking back, which was our best class of the last ten years?

I’d go with 2016. Top five guys were: Hernandez, Pierce, Hughes-Murray, Rashed, Bradford

Other competition would be 2015: Togiai, Decoud, Cook, Brandel, Moore (I think Lavaka may have been a late signee this year, too?)

The only other class I could find with five solid contributors was 2009 (Philipp, Doctor, Poyer, Enger, Wheaton). It’s hard to put a solid team on the field when you’re not getting five major contributors from your recruiting classes!

  14. 2019 is pretty good. Speights, Sandberg, Musgrave, Bennett, Austin, Rawls and Wright all played a ton this year. That doesn’t count the transfers Lindsay, Light born, Roberts, Gebbia and Eldridge.

    • I considered that one and it’s up there. I’m looking at positive contribution more than just playing (someone’s going to get the minutes, even if they’re bad). Of those guys, the only ones I could give a positive review with a large enough body of work would be Speights, Sandberg, Roberts, and maybe Eldridge.

A lot of those guys are still young and the verdict is out on them. Lightbourne has been MIA recently, Gebbia only has a few career starts. On defense, playing a lot for a bad defense doesn’t make you a college success story.

      • I give Bennett a positive review. He’s our best block eater and a great tackler when he gets a chance. He has had some really impressive stops this year.

Austin is also pretty solid, tied for 5th In tackles with Grant. I think Austin will really come on as an upper classmen.

That said all of those guys will be sophomore/junior next year. Still plenty of time to improve and make a splash.

        • I’ve been impressed with Austin and he beat out some more experienced guys. What happened to Dunn?? He seemed to be picked on a lot in the early games, maybe teams staying away from Wright. Maybe he has to play a lot this weekend with the injuries.

          • I think he makes most of his tackles from what I see but he’s still very light. His brother on the other hand looked very bad tackling in the little I’ve seen. Those two dropped ints are the only I’ve seen him drop since he got here. He also had a sack fumble last game

  15. Has anyone in the media asked Smith about DT recruiting and his thoughts on the position. I am curious if it is mostly a matter of striking out on the behemoths or if Smith values athleticism over sheer size at the position. It seemed like a couple years ago the 400 pounder (was it Castro?) was relatively effective as a body eater in the system on 1st and 2nd down to help with the run D. It seems like the hip thing in the NFL is moving towards more athletic DT/NT. But I know some of that comes down to if you are running a 1 or 2 gap 3-4. I mean obviously everyone wants the 6’4” 340 pound NT that moves like a DE but those guys are 5 star recruits. I know we have all discussed this a bit but wondering if the coaching staff have been pinned down and said anything about the specifics.

    • Not sure if there has been any studies done out there but I would guess that 6’+ / 290 lbs+ DT’s/NT’s star players make up the smallest percentage of all star football players available. It really takes a number of special or outside of normal physical traits to be good at this position. Big (heavy), fast, and high stamina is needed for success in this position. Lacking in one of these 3 probably puts you on offensive line.

    • Yo Nice can you shoot Daschel or Denny a message and ask them to grill the staff on DT recruiting?

My question would be: 3-4 defenses rely on someone in the center that requires a double team so that the edge players can have 1 on 1 matchups. This requires a pretty special player at nose tackle who has the size, stamina and strength to keep the offense busy. Why is OSU only offering 3-4 guys fitting that mold each recruiting class? Its the most competitive position to recruit so shouldn’t we offer 10 players in hope of landing 1 per class to anchor the defense?

  16. Will have to look into this guy later, but looks like we recently “re-offered” a 2021 OL.

Hey nicebeav a question for ya. I saw that asu signed veikoso. Why didn’t the Beavs sign him since they’re looking to add an offensive lineman? He also had offers from BYU and WSU so he has decent offers and he has good size. Just seems like they’re striking out so why not keep veikoso unless asu just straight up flipped him.

    • Veikoso has had a strange few year of recruiting.
He was a guy we offered back when GA was here, but then GA left and Hall took over briefly. He had planned to sign with OSU back then, but when the new Smith staff came on board, they pulled his offer.
Then he went on his mission.
Came back, got offered by OSU and was planning to sign again. But I don’t think OSU ever viewed him as a must aign recruit. He wanted to visit other schools after committing amd OSU basically just let him go and moved on. I dont think there were any hard feeling s or anything. Just 2 parties deciding to part ways. It is weird that ASU let Mbow walk because they didnt have room for him, and we wanted MBow so we let Veikoso walk, but then ASU signed Veikoso and Mbow didnt come to OSU.
He’s a super nice and humble kid. Hope he does big things down at ASU.

  18. Noticed some of our coaches started following Latrell Bankston again. He was a juco DT we were close to landing a year ago, hut he ended up at Iowa State. Wonder if he has recently re-entered the portal.
Looks like he had a good year at ISU, but their might be more competition for playing time on that roster

I refied my home. $350 less per month and almost a $100,000 in intrest saved over the lifetime. Made it a point to focus on paying off debt over the last 9 months. Now focusing on paying off vehicles, looks like around June 1st I will be debt free minus the mortgage. I’ll be getting a 18% raise in on June 1st also. So retirement savings will be my focus from there on out.
Covid can eat a dick, but it did help us focus on our future more.

    • I’m doing the same as before, never missed any work due to Covid. Really seems like it has been the haves and have nots in this thing. Know several local companies that got forgivable PPP loans on top of doing really well (construction hasn’t skipped a beat). Huge profits this year.

      • Similar as the above. Didn’t really impact my work load as of yet.

Was able to refinance our house, went from 27years left to 20years, keeping the same payment. Wife also refinanced her loans shaving 2years off while keeping same payment.

I got into gold initially, and still like it but stocked up enough that I’m comfortable. Started dabbling in the stocks the past 6-8 weeks finally. (Currently have a 50% overall in 6-8 weeks, so super stoked about those choices). Didn’t go heavy $ wise but slowly adding to it and developing my own method.

So really we have been seriously lucky this year, no virus, no loved ones sick, saved a lot of $, etc… not religious but it we have been blessed. I do feel really bad for the folks that have had to deal with all the impacts this has had, mainly family/friends dying, but also loss of lifestyles, loss of socializing, loss of jobs, business’ etc… hoping 21’ is prosperous for every in the PNW particularity but all over america

          • My 3 big performers are/were
            -sndl (sold 75% at 180%)
-clxpf (sold 25% @ 210%, dipped the past couple days, but still around 185% on the remaining)
-cydy (still have all my shares here, bought it cause it’s local, and seemed like a good business, been lucky it’s around 75%)

Than the others have been ET, BP, and one I think is going to be great is GP. Have a few minor ones I can’t think of currently.
Than put about 50% overall in MMM which has been the standard 1% up, 1% down a day, but I it has a “safe” factor I was looking for. I want COST but I liked it around $305 more.

    • My wife got laid off early April. Turned out to be a blessing. Found a new job within two months with a better company, closer to home, higher pay etc. she was never going to leave the other company because she is loyal. We are fortunate to be ahead financially. Missed out on some summer camps but the stimulus helped make that up. I hope anyone on here reaches out if they need help.

      • My lady got courted by a competitor and got a 20% boost. It’s weird how Covid is disrupting and creating opportunity for raises, etc. But if you’re not in the right industry, total opposite. Fascinating to watch. Depressing in many ways, too. Seeing the homeless figures rise, etc. Though, I think a lot of that is due to the FED…

I’m doing fine. I took a pay cut for the first couple of months of the crisis, but back to full pay and a little something more. I think I’ve mentioned I work in dental management for a large group. Once PPE became plentiful the governors left us alone. There’s always someone who needs a dentist. My wife works part-time behind the scenes at a hospital, no cuts for her at all.

    • Wife was planning to rejoin the workforce this year, but having 2 kids schooling at home all year has killed those plans. So one more year of single income, which is fine for us because my industry hasn’t been impacted. But I feel for families and kids who are stuck with homeschooling. Either a parent isnt able to focus on work, or the kids arent getting schooled. Lots of sacrifice there.
And teacher friends I’ve talked to are loving their ability to sleep in every day and work a shortened day. Good luck getting teachers to give this schedule up any sooner than they absolutely have to.

      • Your teacher friends are not like all teachers buddy I can tell you that. In fact, very few districts I know of where the teachers prefer the crap schedules and virtual teaching that is going on. Major pain and way more work. People confuse teachers with teacher unions. Not the same thing. I’ll probably get into a few heated arguments during the break with complaining parents because they are barking up the wrong tree.

        • Second that, I don’t know a single teachers who actually cares about their work who wouldn’t gladly give up any extra sleep they are supposedly getting in exchange for getting back in the classroom

  19. Angry,

Any thoughts on XRP? Have some friends wanting to diversify some so they got into it. Not a lot as they’re still wary. Curious about it.

    • It’s worth a small speculation.

What’s funny is I was going to stop by two days ago and say btc looked poised to rip through 20k.

Felt insensitive given all the bad jobs figures, though, so I didn’t. Btc should see 30k and maybe 40k in this up channel.

    • My son is day trading shorting stocks and his account increased by $10,300 in three weeks but he does some longer holds too…MREO and Ultragenyx I have no idea about them as I don’t do stocks although we have one account that went from 262k to 304k in November but that’s through our wealth management firm in a blended index fund. Day trading is more risk but not like the volatility of a long term hold. Cdev is a smaller company in west Texas and is involved in oil. Its fine from.$.62 to. $1.74 in the last 2-3 weeks and could go much higher one the virus is under control and businesses start to reopen…im thinking it will increase this spring as oil prices l continue to recover between now and March-april.

It may be a sin but it is fun to watch Herbert playing for the Chargers. The kid is good. It was especially interesting to see Hebert verses Mariota too.

    • 2
      5

They both played well. Fun game to watch. Mariota still has some game left and just needs the right opportunity. Herbert tied rookie record for TD passes and essentially wrapped up NFL ROY. Quaaaaack Quaaaack

      • 2
        5

What slimeball would downvote that? Oh wait…. small jealous beavo fans? Mannion thrown a pass yet? Lmao. How’s Luton 4picks coming along? And you wonder why

        • It’s weird how tribalism manifests in sports, too. We’re seeing this L v R issue that won’t allow people to see things objectively, and we’re seeing the same with Mariota and Herbert. Both are very good people per all info we have. End of story. Pretty unfortunate to see Beavs unable to admit it, but this is how emotions and tribalism work.

        • Well I try not to buy into the tribalism but people like you are why some Beaver fans (I actually like Herbert and Mariota though don’t necessarily root for or against them) would downvote something like this, which I agree is dumb but your act is just as dumb.

          • Yes, according to him on the other forum not to be named, we’ve watch him on TV playing for the ducks MBB team beating the Beavers MBB team. He’s a coach too by his own account and coaches girls basketball…..oh yeah, he’s rich too…the guy likes his fantasies so there’s that.

      • With Mariota I think it is less about the situation and more about him being healthy and getting his head right. I got to think seeing Tannehill have so much success after his benching gave him a little extra motivation to concentrate on what he can control. I mean no NFL situation is perfect, there is the salary cap, guys breaking out and getting paid, every team has constant turnover. Good QBs make up for the shortcomings of their teams. I mean look at Seattle, that team under Russel Wilson has never been better than average if they had a replacement level QB, but Russ makes up for the shortcomings on the line.

        • 1
          3

You’re probably right. Three offensive coordinators in four years probably had nothing to do with it. He should’ve handled that much better as a 24-year-old. Yet the coaching Turnover at OSU is the number one excuse for the programs failure. #FailedLogic. I’m guessing you’ve never played high-level sports

          • Says the dumbshit spamming a beaver sports board when anyone mention the ducks. Rent. Fucking. Free.

And why would I watch 2 of the worst teams in the NFL play? And if the ducks were at least marginally good i might watch, but they are going to get murder so whats the point?

          • You seem conflicted. A week ago you said the benchmark for the beaver program was beating the ducks and nobody else. Yeah, they don’t live rent free in your head dumb shit. It would be a Christmas miracle if the ducks could beat USC tonight but that won’t change the fact of how bad your program stinks win or lose. Lmfao

        • I will admit Turd, you and all the duck fans are the reason those commits go to Eugene. They recognize the quality education and fan base. I wish we could be like you guys.

        • No, the beavers don’t need 4* players to beat the ducks. The beavers can do it with 3* players and virtually little experience at QB too. 41-38!

          • Flukes happen. It’s happened twice in the last 12 years but who’s counting. 10 losses in the last dozen years to Oregon. 11 straight to Stanford. I don’t even know the Husky record but I’m sure it’s just as bad. Yeah, you guys are PAC 12 material for sure

          • Hahaha, its a fluke the beavers won? What do you call the loss against cal? A misunderstanding?
The more I read your horseshit on this site, the more I’m convinced your that fat little fuck crying on YouTube about the ducks losing the CW. Hilarious. Rent fucking free.

          • Quite thin actually. Wow you certainly get riled easily. Lol. Maybe go take a nap so you don’t stroke out. Yikes, I looked it up and the dawgs are on a 9 game winning streak against the Biebers. Two wins in the last 12 against USC. Good grief just drop to FCS. Bahahahaha

          • Calm down little buddy. You’ll get through this. Just think, after you lose again this weekend, you can count on men’s and women’s basketball. Oh wait…. no you can’t. Bieber baseball seems to be in a downturn with canned ham as well. I guess you have gymnastics?

  21. So tomorrow USC will be playing its 3rd game in 13 days…and had to switch prep from UCLA to Oregon mid week…Oregon didn’t play last week, was prepping for CU…what a crazy season. UO beat USC by 32 points last season.

If UCLA wins its next game, they student athletes have apparently led a decision to to skip any bowl games.

  22. 1
    1

This will be an interesting recruiting cycle with much of the country (esp. west coast) not playing HS fb this year. I like that the Beavs “offer” guys preferred walk-on spots, particularly if their family can afford to send their kid to OSU. Saves a scholarship for someone else and adds a lot of depth. The thing about scholarships – most players just want to be “recruited” and wanted. The parents want to brag that their kid will be a college football player. Win, win, win. I do find it ridiculous how much money some parents “invest” in the hopes that their kid is a scholarship athlete, regardless of the sport. Easier to just put the money away, pay for college when it’s time and buy yourself a nice car with the money left over.

  23. 1
    9

Crushing the recruiting game! Can’t believe we flipped that kid who could have played for Bucknell or Georgetown. Speaks to what coach Smith is building. We get a few more like this and we start winning championships every year. Huge upgrade in talent! Cheers everyone, new year new Bev’s!!!

  24. ASU has not handles 12 and 13 personnel well this year. Will we see a lot of running plays using the back and sprinkle in some qb runs? Seemed to work really well against the Ducks. Outside of Utah, the o-line has been playing well. ASU has given up 175 (5.9 avg), 171 (5.8 avg), and 137 (4.3 avg) on the ground in their 3 games. Out of those teams they have played, OSU will be the most run heavy team they have seen.

  25. Looking into next year a little bit -I know its way too early-, but with @Purdue, Home Hawaii, Home Idaho, we have a legit chance to start out 3-0.

I really think the way things line up next season, an 9-3 + or – 1/2 games either way, is not out of the realm. I could see 10-2 a real possibility, and really 7-5 worse case. If we can add a couple immediate impact dlineman I really think we have legit chance to win the North.

Figured I would voice that now. Claiming a 9-3 year next season. Lets go beat ASU and end things on a good note though first

        • Meaning if he is on the team or not. He has not said hes going to the NFL yet and its really not a good year to be a RB. Its absolutely jammed with top talent.

          • It really seems to me like he has played himself into the top 5 or around there in terms of RB. Does he really stand to gain a ton by coming back? RB is always a stacked position in the draft and it takes some pretty exception athleticism to go in round 1 or 2 as a RB anyway.

          • He’s going the NFL. He won’t be able to increase his value even with another big year in college. RBs who stay too long get knocked because of their short shelf life.

          • I mean there is plenty of uncertainty with combine results and all that but I would say there are plenty of backs who will go 2-5 round that are legit draft options. He also is starting to get a reputation for injury which wont help. Etienne (Clemson), Najee (Alabama), Gainwell (Memphis), Hubbard (OkayState), Williams (NC), Hill (MS State), Brooks (Oklahoma), Rountree (Missouri), Mitchel (ULL), Ragas (ULL). Patterson (Buffalo), Hall (Virginiat Tech)

          • I remember reading a nice story about JJ and his commitment to honor his father’s memory. I can’t recall for sure, bit I think that commitment might have included graduating and earning his degree. If that’s accurate, i don’t think he’ll go into the NFL next year assuming my recollection of his commitment is correct.

          • Plenty of RBs in every draft, wouldn’t be any different if he waits another year.

The one skill that will separate JJ from the others and is valued extremely high in the NFL is his blitz pickup. He has been very good this year. Right now JJ is a 3-5 round pick. Might climb into the 2nd round if he runs an amazing 40.

If he runs under 4.5, he’ll be 2-3 round.

  26. Utah is opting out of any bowl invites

So Arizona/OSU/Cal/Stanford/Utah/UCLA are all no gos.
Of course for most of these teams it wouldn’t have come down to an invite. But if the Pac gets down to less than 4 teams willing to accept bowl bids, the conference is leaving money on the table. USC/Oregon/UW/CO seem like the 4 most likely to bowl, but if any can’t make it, ASU/WSU need to take their place.

    • From what I’m reading, the argument is: going to a bowl they will lose money (unless it’s a major bowl) AND the risk of practicing and preparing all for the bowl game all for it to be cancelled last minute.

      • This is a year schools might actually make money by going to a bowl game. Yes, usually the expenses of going the game is more than the revenue received. The costs of hotels, travel for all of the players, staff, boosters, and the cost of the ticket allotment.

But since this year all of that would be scaled back, maybe teams come out ahead.

        • Makes me wonder how a team like SJSU made money this year. Can’t imagine their TV rights paid all that well, and they were on the road every week this year, including a trip to Hawaii. Those travel expenses had to be through the roof

  27. Serious question for turd/blows/fanno: I don’t usually pay attention to other teams but I looked into the ducks recruiting. The narrative this season is that the team is young and inexperienced which is why they have lost some games. Since 2016 the ducks national recruiting class rankings have been 27, 19, 13, 7, 11 and 6.

So what is the dynamic at Oregon that keeps you from having ultratalented upperclassmen? With recruiting like that you should be stuffed with experienced and talented uppperclassmen starting and a few super talented younger guys making the ranks. Whats the deal?

    • They’re so talented, the players leave early. This is why they can’t field a great team. It’s just science.

But when these even better young guys get older, they’ll stick around and dominate. Just wait.

  28. I’m a little late to the party so to speak. Work wise things have been great for me. No time off and we just changed our shift configuration, making it a 24-7 operation. 12 hr days though, it’s a little rough but I work the same number of days and get “free” overtime. Also for the first time in company history (founded in the 1930s) management actually gave us a Christmas bonus. I don’t know where all the lumber we’re cutting is going but there seems to be a insatiable demand for it. We’re on pace to cut over 500 million board ft this year.
On a more personal level it’s been kinda stressful. My oldest daughter caught the COVID from a coworker and was down for a couple weeks(she doesn’t live with me) but she’s fine now. My youngest girl is starting to go stir crazy (12yrs old) and getting depressed. Her grades are directly reflecting it too. She really needs in person instruction.I’ve set up counseling for her but its kinda a joke with all the safety protocols in place. A zoom counseling session isn’t near as good as face to face. I’m doing what I can to help her but I’m no teacher or counselor.

  29. Spreads have been added for this weeks pool games. OSU/ASU made the CBS cut this week. USC/UO did not.
Must be due to the late team swapping.

  30. Keys to the game

    1. Get the ball to JJ anyway they can.
    2. Move the ball on the ground. Attack the edges of the defense with sweeps early. Nolan should have a few designed runs. Take the short gains and keep pounding away.
    3. On defense, I suggested this but move Rashed to ILB Let him roam free and make some plays.
    4. Coaching adjustments need to be made earlier especially on defense. Would be nice to see the defense be aggressive early on.
    5. If JJ doesn’t play, then go with more sweeps, reverses to the WR. Still should be able to run the ball with Baylor.

This is sort of a must win game. Season will be a huge disappointment with a loss.

I have been financially lucky during this time. The recent uptick in home sales along with the anti landlord laws and regulations, pushed me into selling most of my rentals at a good price, quickly, and mostly without a realtor. 24 rentals are down to 6. The people who are suffering are the renters who no longer have my houses and duplexes to rent as most of the buyers were homeowners and not investors. You simply can not treat those who provide housing like crap and expect them to stay in the business. Politicians who think they are doing the public a favor, with all of these new laws, are not. My payback to the liberal democrats of this state is to get out and decrease the supply of rentals. There are many more doing the same. Excessive regulation has consequences.

    • 1
      1

Local politicians tend to push measures that have attractive titles, such as “price controls” pertaining to rental units, knowing that the average voter takes one look at that headline and votes for it, thinking that the politician is looking out for the best interests of the average renter. They’re not. The real winners of these measures are the biggest real estate businesses.

If you look deep enough, you will find that most corrupt politicians at all levels have some stake in the real estate market.

        • “Executive Order 20-13 from Gov. Brown created a state-wide temporary moratorium on certain evictions and terminations of rental agreements and leases in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. House Bill 4213 passed by Oregon lawmakers extended the eviction moratorium until September 30, 2020 and created a six-month repayment period for tenants. It also clarified the process for landlords to send a notice of outstanding balance, offer payment plans, and the use of other types of terminations without a tenant-based cause.”

But that’s not the chronic issue. Since the 60’s, price control measures in major cities across the US have squeeze out small landlords, and monopolized the real estate market. COVID has simply accelerated this process. This is an extremely powerful way to obtain political power, and both parties have seized upon this strategy (mostly in the northeast).

  32. CDC stopped evictions till end of year but that is not why I sold. There have been a ton of new state laws, including those related to COVID, that are anti landlord. For example, I can only evict a tenant with a no cause eviction, after one year, for a limited number of reasons, such as major repairs or want to sell the home. If I want to sell the house, I must immediately pay one months rent to the tenant, and can not evict them until I already have a written offer. Can’t consider a prior eviction on a rental application if it is greater than 5 years old. Have to allow pet(s), with no additional deposit or rent, if it is a service animal-e.g., helps with depression. List goes on and on. So much bullshit.

      Ah, yeah, that’s awful.

On the plus side, we do have a major home shortage and people have now bought your hoard. ;)
      Just sayin’…………

But all politicians do is pick winners and losers. You were their winner for a while and weren’t complaining then, but this round you’re their loser. We’ll all be winners and losers in our lifetime. Best to look ahead and try to avoid it as much as possible. For example, that’s a lot of homes to own and puts you at risk in any paradigm shift. If I lived in Oregon I’d be hyper aware of that and try to avoid that outcome. Diversity still the key to investing due to political risk. Trump screwed all real estate investors on the coasts with that SALT issue + no-evictions. It’s not one party risk, either.

      • I completely agree with you about the diversification part. You are are also correct on the fact that I did supply housing to the new homeowners. The irony of this all, though, is that the law that was supposed to help renters is actually hurting them. Nobody talks about the consequences of bad laws. I normally am silent on this issue and just do my quiet actions on the side. Just brought this up because people were talking about their situation with COVID. COVID was just the final straw for me.

        • No, I understand. I actually feel bad for you. I feel worse for people who can’t buy homes because investors bought them all, though.

But you’re right, most laws do the opposite of what they’re intended to do. Remember: the Federal Reserve act was put in place to stop financial panics (so we’re told). How did that go?

It sounds like you made good bank on selling those homes, and hopefully you can take those funds and diversify. Plenty of other good income streams.

          • Yes, made good money and much more well diversified. So the final outcome has been good. I also do not get calls late at night complaining that the toilet is clogged because their kid decided to see if the rubber ducky floats. As more people sell their rental portfolios, the politicians will blindly continue to legislate more adverse laws, and the downward cycle will accelerate. I will be on the sidelines content.

          • Congrats, sounds like you made the right call and acted swiftly. Now you got a good price and are more diversified, and the people who need a home got one, so it’s win win, but I get that you wanted to keep the rental ideally…and that part sucks.

    • You know why they do this, right? They know that landlords with a relatively small number of units cannot afford to accommodate these laws, but the landlords with the largest number of units can compensate for these additional services.

All it amounts to is politicians being lobbied by these large landlords/businesses to pass these laws in order to consolidate the real estate market.

        • That’s the short term solution, but even Invitation Homes is partly owned by The Blackstone Group (27%).

Point is, as time passes, it is getting increasingly more difficult for individuals to open truly independent real estate businesses and maintain them because they have no lobbying power.

          • I don’t disagree with that.

What’s bizarre is by definition that’s fascism (merger of State and private interests), and it’s being called socialism. Not that either is better than the other, but we should at least call things what they are.

I laugh at Republicans who claim the moral high ground by claim they belong to the “Party of Lincoln”, and that they “fight for small businesses”.

Lincoln merged state and private interests, particularly for the railroads (Lincoln was a lawyer for the Illinois Central RR) and banking industry (National Bank Acts of 1863/1864). Politicians since then have carried out the interests of this corporatocracy and expanded it.

          • I hear this party “switched sides” line all the time. But how do you account for voting patterns to virtually stay the same for more then 40 years on average after the “switch”.. example Georgia voted dem from pre civil war to the late 70’s. Did they forget to tell their voting blocks?

          • I hear this party “switched sides” line all the time. But how do you account for voting patterns to virtually stay the same for more then 40 years on average after the “switch”.. example Georgia voted dem from pre civil war to the late 70’s. Did they forget to tell their voting blocks?

It’s explainable in a good way. People actually listened to the message, considered the consequences, and voted on that rather than (a) pro their Party (b) stick it to the other Party. And that really only sticks it to civilians in the other Party, not the actual Party. But anyway, this makes some sense. Read the writing of someone from the 1800s vs the 1900s vs the 2000s. It’s idiocracy. People could have made these distinctions 100 years ago when this began.

          • “During the 1860s, Republicans, who dominated northern states, orchestrated an ambitious expansion of federal power, helping to fund the transcontinental railroad, the state university system and the settlement of the West by homesteaders, and instating a national currency and protective tariff. Democrats, who dominated the South, opposed those measures. ”

Have the Republicans actually changed their stances? Eisenhower, Reagan, Bush, and Bush Sr. all expanded the military industry complex as well as the surveillance state via the PATRIOT Act. Eisenhower created the federal interstate system. Reagan and Trump heavily pushed protective tariffs.

The Democrats have certainly changed to push for more nationalized industries and institutions, but it seems that the mainstream factions of both have largely merged on the most important issues.

          • I think this idea that any Party is “small government” needs to be banished forever. Neither is. End of story. Maybe this will help get it through peoples’ minds.

            https://i.imgur.com/wJ5EUfo.jpg

One a % basis the Democrats look much worse, but on a nominal basis the Republicans steal the show. Both are absolutely awful. I wish the Right would stop pretending they’re the Party of (a) Jesus, considering how much hatred they have and (b) small government, considering how much spending they enjoy.

            Just saying………………….

          • The Dixiecrat schpiel doesn’t hold water. Only one Dixiecrat actually became a republican (Thurmond) the rest of the crusty old southern racists went back to their Democrat party and held office for another 30 years, not the least of which is Robert Byrd, former Exalted Cyclops in the KKK who was still throwing around N bombs in public during the Bush administration.

  33. They’re dropping like flies. UW cancels any remaining bowl invites due to Covid cases continuing amongst their team.
So 5 teams left for 4 possible bowl invites.

    • 2
      1

Ok, so Beavs need to win to go to 3-4 and demand the officials admit they screwed them out of a win against the Huskies. P-12 puts a waiver in effect and they go bowling! Stranger things have happened!

      • Every team is bowl eligible this year. But Barnes has already said the Beavs wouldn’t accept a bowl invite if it somehow came down to that.
I think teams just want their players move back home
until Spring term and they know playing in a meaningless bowl game this year will hurt their bottom line more than help.

          • Oh you’re right. The pac did come in after the NCAA said all teams would be eligible and said only teams with winning records could bowl. So ASU and WSU would both be out if they lose this weekend. Meaning only USC/UO/CU would be eligible.
What a craptasitic season for the Pac12 teams. USC needed last minute scores in most of their wins and could easily be a 2 win team. Oregon lost to Cal and OSU and Colorado won with a pretty favorable schedule along with Stanford having no QB.

There just aren’t any clear cut good teams. Could easily see oregon besting USC tonight to be crowned king of the crappers.

So as many of you know, I tried doing donations here in crypto long ago, and I first was interest in BTC at $12.

I think everyone should have 1% of their wealth in crypto. Just a word of advice moving forward. Not financial advice, just a recommendation and opinion. I think people should have 5% of their wealth in gold, too. Shit is about to get real and fast. We have maybe a decade left of this financial system.

Stocks and bonds will get absolutely obliterated in the right tail risk that’s to come. Concerned about retirees…

    • 2
      1

Follow up: the last time I bought gold, 1/10th OZ was $135. Now the same 1/10th is $220. This really wasn’t very long ago. I’d say we’re passing the “accumulation phase” for all assets and headed toward something worse. The USD index might hit 79 on this cycle.

The problem is most people own stocks and bonds, and those are probably the two assets that will perform the worst (in terms of actual purchasing power) in what’s about to come. We’re in the transition right now, or calm before the storm.

And for the record, this isn’t necessarily the fault of any President. If we want to blame one, it’s Wilson for passing the Federal Reserve Act. But after the Great Depression every President was essentially pinned into the policies that have led to this.

      • I know how to fix this.

Have the Israelis hack into our electrical grid, shut off power for a week, and let tens of thousands of people die. Then, claim Al Qaeda was behind the attack.

Invade 15-20 countries in north Africa, kick out the Chinese, and remind the world what will happen if they abandon our currency.

    • So what happens after this financial system ends? Whats next? Are there any examples out there? Wiemar republic?
Once the dollar collapses, how are bitcoin and gold going to help? Im generally intrested by the way. Not mocking.

      • Great question. Nobody knows, is the short answer.

But my guess is we temporarily peg to something for stability. This is the history. Usually it’s a commodity. But by the time this happens, Millennials will be in power, so it could be a digital asset.

        • “Usually it’s a commodity”
Beanie babies. Im calling it now. Those crazy old ladies who collected them are going to be the Gates’ and Bezos’ of the new era.

          • No way, that would be Gen X’s decision. Or Garbage Pail Kids.

But Millenials likely use a crypto.

Boomers would tie to something like gold, oil, etc. I think this is the best idea for various reasons, but the most obvious is they have a fixed extraction rate of 2%, so that’s a sure way to stop any high or hyperinflation.

          • Oh, that is a serious bummer. They’re awesome!
My dad sold my 1st edition for like $10 at a yardsale when I moved out. *insert A@A joke how my dad sold my GBK yesterday*

          • They still sell GPKs. I saw them at Target the other day amd was tempted to buy a few just for kicks. Thought those things were long gone. Also saw He-Man toys. I guess they’re going for the nostalgic parent demo.

          • Ah, no fun.

On FB, for friends, I made Garbage Pail Kid names for Trump’s entire cabinet. It was fun. Something to offset the misery of everyone else. If I’m not reincarnated as an owl, per my wish, I hope to be reincarnated as a guy from 1985 who is hired to name 1st edition Garbage Pail Kids.

This is a great example of what the problem is. The Right is all in a tiff over Hunter Biden. Meanwhile, Trump is stealing money directly from his cult. Trump is on record saying when you commit a crime in the open, nobody realizes it.

    https://twitter.com/Richard21031608/status/1340054759030611969

I’m not a Biden guy. I was an anti-Trump guy (after voting for him in ’16). This is the thing, guys: both of these Parties fucking blow, and their interests are so detached from your interests that I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Stop attaching your jock to either Party. For God’s sake it is so obvious.

For the 10th time I’m going to recommend “Operation Infektion”…if it can get one person to see this is all the will of foreign entities, then it’s a success to harp on it. We should unite against (a) Foreign entities/Russia (b) Big government (c) Dismantling the Federal Reserve

We should and could all unify over this shit and actually become a strong Nation. Just really disheartening to see we’re choosing the way worse path.

    • Russia poses virtually no threat to the US. They’ll blackmail to protect their interests, but they always shy against going to war because they simply don’t have enough men.

China doesn’t give a fuck, and they are eating away at American power, fast. Wouldn’t be surprised to see China invade Taiwan in March or October, and Biden or Harris do nothing.

  36. What is also interesting, is that I’m not at all a “print money” guy, and absolutely hate the Federal Reserve and know 100% fact they’re the root cause of our current issues……..but still, watching people go homeless because some WI senator wants to posture…just absolutely pathetic and sociopathic. Big problem on the Right is sociopathy. Big problem on the left is idealism. Truth of course is the beautiful gray area in between.

    • Did you catch that that dude voted for the big H1B visa hike also? So not only are you shitting on people who need help with job loss etc. You make it easier for companies to go outside the US to get IT workers on the cheap. The elites are going air tight on the American working class.

  37. How freaking bad is USC. 4th and a foot and you and the ball off three yards deep in the backfield and the RB slips for a loss. QB sneak it dumbass coach for USC.

  38. Found out some new news on Iowa St DT Latrell Bankston. (The JUCO DT we missed out on laat year)
He’s not in the portal now, but will be in a couple more weeks.

Was honorable mention defensive lineman in their conference this year in a backup role. I guess depth at Iowa St must be limiting his reps.

  39. 1
    2

USC is pathetic. If that team is the best in the south, the Pac 12 is terribly weak again.. as usual.. We know how bad Oregon’s defense is (see civil war game) and USC can’t do crap against them.

    • 3
      2

You’re kidding right? USC holding on literally every O Lineman just tackled a blitzing DB. What game are you watching? USC would blow the Beavs out and you know it. You’re going to get throttled this weekend

And that loss digs at you so much you spam a beaver site because you know deep down Cristobal is severely underachieving with several top 10 recruiting classes. Your world is going to come crashing down when SC puts 45+ on the board and your team can’t make it passed midfield. National tv embarrassment number 3. At least that will quiet the Cristobal to Auburn talk, so you got that going for you which is nice.

I especially like the part in the middle about USC scoring 45+ and Oregon not being able to get “passed” midfield. Good call sports genius

Yeah I was wrong, they only embarrassed themselves 2 times this year. At least I can admit it. You on the other hand cannot.

Your quote: I predicted USC running away with this. So now that you were wrong you’re the sports genius? Lol, spam that beaver board son, you just can’t get over that CW loss. So much so you continue after you’ve won an illegitimate pac12 title. Nice

USC is going to win by at least 3 scores. I would put a lot of $ on that

          • Pac12 Champs son. Back to Back. Even Coach Lake (you remember him right?) said whoever wins the game “should be Champions”. “The winner is determined on the field”. He has so much more grace than you. Suck it bitch

          • PAC 12 is absolute garbage this season! Anyone who feels proud to be *PAC 12 Champs, when not more than a few weeks ago were crying that this wasn’t a real season, is a piece of shit! Every team is trash this year! Nobody should have any pride in the PAC this season.

            Go Beavs!

The game will be moist throughout, and the Arizona schools wilt and pout and act like they’d prefer to be anywhere else besides Reser in the rain. Beavs win by 10.

      3

Probably. Just think how proud all those laid off athletic dept employees are right now. I mean they cant feed their kids, but at least Cristobal the under .500 coach is getting an extra 1/4 mil.

        • They took pay cuts to keep people employed. I don’t know if the ducks did the same but giving out millions to one coach while laying off staff because of budgetary concerns is pretty shitty optics dont you think?

And by paycuts I mean across the board, the head coaches and our shitty AD.

          • That’s right… you don’t know. I know for a fact that Altman and his staff gave their bonuses back last year. Pretty sure Cristobal and his staff did the same. Sorry about your narrative. You are so torn up about this. Lmao

          • 1
            1

So the school didn’t just give Cristobal a giant 40 some million dollar contract effectively doubling his pay? I could of sworn i read that in the newspaper.

All I hear is blah blah blah and your teardrops hitting the keyboard. I think you should take your whining to Jeff Bezos. He could give every person in the U.S. Cristobals contract number and he would still be extremely wealthy. Whine somewhere else. Smith should be 9-22 or something tomorrow night. Text him and tell him to donate his salary. He hasn’t earned it!

Still won’t answer the question, typical duck douchbag. The athletic dept had no money to continue to employee people but magically gave Cristobal the under .500 coach a big raise. And you don’t see a problem with that.
I bet if your boss at McDonald’s laid you off and then gave the night shift manager a big raise you would be pissed. Right?

You thought your team was going to the playoff and that they were hot shit until you lost to us. Kind of convenient you didn’t show you douchbag face around here for more then a week after losing. Then again the next week when your team shit the bed at cal. The fact is you probably got run off the duck boards because you’re such a douchbag they can’t even stand you. I’m amazed angry has let this shit continue. It would be different if you were civil like say the guy we talk to from Stanford, but your just a shit poster for no reason other then your a douchbag.

Nobody thought the Ducks were going to the playoff only playing a 6 game schedule . Lmao. Do you know how it works? You must care, you can’t stop posting to me. Everyone here knows that you wouldn’t be having this temper tantrum had your team been playing in the game instead. The season would have magically mattered and the Bieber’s would have throw a parade. Sit down child

          • The Beavers wouldn’t have played in the title game. A 3-2 OSU would have been bypassed for Colorado and USC would have played for the title had OSU finished 2nd to UW in the North. It is just how college football works, pageantry, tv ratings, last seasons results matter just as much as the record from the current season.

Angry is weak as hell. He’s blocked or banned me for pointing out when he’s wrong or teasing how much he loves McM. But he lets others troll and go political and hijack threads.

Ducks (aka alphas of the conference) beat Portland by 39.

Can’t wait for the two Civil War beatdowns, unless Beavis opts our b/c “COVID” lol
