  1. OT. Looking at NFL rosters for OSU alumni, Matt Moore on KC practice squad, Mike Remmers at OL. For Buffalo, Poyer and Hodgins (injured/reserve).

I didn’t realize Remmers was still playing. An amazing “diamond in the rough” development prospect apparently. He’s made a good living for himself.

I’ll be hoping the Bills pull off the upset.

  2. Thoughts on the below submission for Reser West Side?

    https://twitter.com/BeavRecruiting/status/1351699540932325376?s=19

Seems like is about 70% positive. Some think we should more closely mimic the east, but there is more need for club and loge seating and less seats that are exposed to the rain. The multiple levels is a bit like the Timbers project too. Will be curious if they flip the midfield logo when complete to showcase this side or not. I grade the design a B. Pretty good. If there was a way to do it, would probably increase the premium seating by about 15% from what I see in these plans. Hoping the covered section at top will keep a fairly wide group of spectators less impacted by rain. Think that would bolster the value of more of the upper sections.

This plan I think has support versus the large columns on the east as it sounds like they will have the lower level seating in place for a season for some fans to be on that side while the major construction is happening behind them.

    • I think there are probably too many upper deck seats. The sections at the end of the upper deck is the right number of rows for the upper deck. Then replace that with another level of suites. Brings the suites closer and a little more roof coverage.

Otherwise it’s a decent design. The Roof is fine. The top donors will be in the club seats covered by the second deck anyway. I don’t see much loss in capacity. Maybe a thousand or two.

If there is any additional need for seats, the south endzone was built with the ability to support an upper deck section. I think the ideal capacity is around 42K but eventual additional expansion could be 48K or so.

      • Are there any suites in this plan or is that all press box at top. A suite reserved for the OSU Prez probably is up there but that doesn’t really count. A row of suites just above the club level would make OSU look more premium I think and those would be very good viewing. If they think the sun glares too much on glass, couldn’t windows be treated and then also have them where the glass windows retract for wide open viewing? Suites would always be assumed to be in use and with guests spending money, whereas too many empty seats at the top, would highlight support for the team that isn’t at its best

That would be my two cents. Even if there were more concerts in the stadium, these suites would be premium offerings and make some money for the school. Might take a couple more architecture firms looking at possibilities but think would be better. Suites offer more privacy and make the program look like something to be seen.

      • I don’t like it either, the new proposal looks like a series of facades. It will look accurate, like they were limited on funding and finished one half years later on the cheap.

    • 2
      3

Initially, there was a plan to enclose and wrap around the endzones so you don’t have to exit the stadium to get from one side to the other. Hopefully, that’s still part of the design.

I didn’t know Zach Reichle’s even nerdier little brother plays for UO.

Who let’s their children/siblings attend that corrupt institution? Get it together, people.

Tinkle takes out Lucas and the final possession is terrible and leads to a dunk off of a turnover. Only a 6 point lead after having a 13 point one a couple minutes earlier. What shitty coaching.

  5. And Beavs play like shit the final two minutes 13 point lead down to 6 now 34-28. Thompson left his zone twice and the Ducks hit threes. So much for senior leadership. Gianni Hunt is playing out of control but hit one lucky three as the shot clock was expiring.

  6. I know he’s not a great ball handler but does reichle ever play point? In the few games that I’ve been able to see he seems to make good smart passes.

That’s been their downfall, can’t get a good PG. I thought maybe they had one in Antoine Vernon, but as usual sporadic playing time so he left.

  7. I like Tuckers play. I doubt tinkle plays through him for offense. Good energy on the boards and seems to get open when guards are driving.

  8. Beavs up by 8, but stagnating again on offense. They have outrebounded the Ducks by almost 20, but in standard Beav MO, they can’t put the Quacks away.

    • 1
      3

Yeah and Caloo seems to be a mess now after looking promising earlier in the season. He’s either turning it over or missing open looks. Beavs up 9 with about 6 minutes left. It would be nice to see a run for once to put the game away instead of pissing a lead away again.

  9. 2
    1

Pretty good win. Ducks were shorthanded which helped. Beavs only trailed once and when the ducks made runs, the Beavs answered. Not much to complain about. Tough road trip coming up so a win tonight was huge.

  10. 3
    18

Pretty hard to replace 27.5 points per game, 10 rebounds and 4 steals a game for the Ducks but the walk-ons tried. Even Reichle played which was cool. But a “solid” win for the Beavs. You guys crack me up. That will help the NET ranking until next week. I thought Silva looked good though and he has a “huge” upside. Played 4 minutes and had 3 fouls. I guess the Silva expert missed that one. Lmao

At least my grandma is honest and objective about her sports teams. Even at 90, she can see that with Duarte and Figeroa not even mentioning Richardson would have torched your team tonight. Last wins Dante and Okoro were missing. Year before that Bol Bol and Wooten didn’t play. I see a pattern. It will all come out in the wash. Altman’s teams get better as the year goes on and Richardson just got his cast off last week. Fully healthy, Ducks will be dancing. Beavs, likely not

          • 8
            2

Don’t forget, we’ve been missing all our 5 star guys too every time we play you. I’d have more respect for you if you stopped making excuses. Beavs win, ducks lost. It’ll be okay.

          • 15
            2

As for dancing in march, who knows? But one thing for sure is your a child. G-ma is 90? That more than likely puts you around 40, give or take a few years. Your posts say your 10 years old. Now you will probably will laugh this off with a childish comment but dang man, grow up. If you want to represent UofO then do it as a man.

Interesting. It’s “you’re” by the way genius. I remember about 3-4 years ago when Tinkle had a broken hand and the Bevs went 0-18 in conference. Everyone was saying how they were missing his 18 ppg and blamed the losses on that. Do you understand sports? Those aren’t excuses…. any team missing 28ppg is going to struggle to win. That’s just a fact. So take your asterisk win and gloat about it, it’s ok. Everyone that knows sports understands why you won and doesn’t put much credence into it because it’s fools gold. Nobody expected a different outcome. The end of the year will be the same as it always is

            1

The need to correct my grammer says everything
anyone needs to know about you. Weak sauce. I agree play with what you got , right? No excuses, right? Then why are you here making sure in every post that everyone should know that the ducks were missing 28 points or this or that player? If you look back through the posts you will see people acknowledging that the ducks were short handed but they would take the win. Because everyone wants a win. If the ducks were playing Gonzaga
and the zags were without 3 starters and the ducks won would you say well hell that win is a disappointment? Nope you would be happy with the win. No matter who was playing. Again, you are a child.

Pendulum as Tinkle is now owning Altman on a regular basis. 5 out of last 7 and more ti come as OSU finally get some athletes into the program ate quality and legit players.

          • 7
            2

They went 1-17 you numbnut and many of us were criticizing Tinkle for having no depth and being a poor developer of talent. Read “comb-over” boys comments and you’ll see that Altman is not making any excuses either. College players should hit their foul shots and box out on the boards. Sure the Ducks might hand it to the Beavs with their players back, so what? Injuries and how they are dealt with are always part of coaching. BTW, you used the same excuses for the Duck football loss.

          • 3
            6

Grammar*. Seems you need your spelling corrected too. Good one swamms. Except Altman is a HOF coach on a very very short list of consecutive 20+ win seasons and Stinkle is well…. dogshit of a coach. He can only beat injury depleted Duck teams. That’s a fact if you just look it up. But go ahead…. enjoy the asterisk. Beavs will not make the post season. Again. Lmao

          • BS
Get a clue woolly, here’s the headline from the RG two days before the game:
No. 21 Oregon men will have two starters out against Oregon State due to COVID-19 protocols

  11. It seems to me that the men BB are starting to play better — more like a team — than they were earlier in the year. Some will say (correctly) that is just a normal process we could expect given so many people who had not played together before. But it may be that coaching had something to do with it. I guess the rest of the season will answer that question.

    • The key to the rest of the season is Lucas. He’s a streaky shooter and if he heats up, the team will be very competitive. The strategy for this upcoming road trip should be all defense. Run the clock and keep the games in the 50-60 range.

      • 2
        5

I think Giovanna Hunt has improved too with hims ball handling as well as his perimeter shot. He did get a major butt chewing last night for his late game pass when he should have just backed the ball out. The beavers do have talent and depth and some nice length and athletic ability. Lucas starting to become more confident and that will improve his consistency. All said, you are only as good as your last game. Go beavers!

      • 3
        1

Team undefeated since pressure on Tinkle grew and he told Lucas he would start. Lucas scored 50+ ten times as a high schooler in California. That is the type that is comfortable taking on increased leadership on a team. Has helped fill the void and the team has shown signs of coming together in a much healthier fashion.

I haven’t responded directly to one of his comments since he came back yet again. He has proven on multiple occasions he has no credibilty. I will no longer feed the troll since that is what he thrives on..I’ll let others do that if they choose to do so.

    • Since it was your idea, why dont yoy give it a shot and let us know how it worked out for you. After all, you let him come in through the backdoor not me. Lol

    • Nah, better game wirh a more experienced QB in Mahomes than Allen. Chiefs will beat TB if they make it but bills won’t. Even though i cant stand Brady, they just beat GB and a great HOFer Aaron R. on the road. KC will hopefully repeat even though i cant stand them either…..too much speed for TB IMO.

  12. 4
    14

Rueck will have to run the table of the PAC-12 Tourney if they have one to make the dance at this point. As predicted, the Beavs will not beat WSU again, UCLA, Arizona, Stanford or the Ducks. UW and Cal are only wins left. End of an era

  13. @nicebeaver Any info on Melvin Jordan? Just curious what the connection and/or draw is for him. Michigan, FSU, Miami, Indiana, and OSU? Indiana seems like a bit of an outlier too but they’ve had recent success.

  14. 3
    1

“The Chiefs will aim to become the first team to defend their Super Bowl title since Brady and the Patriots after the 2003 and 2004 seasons. And they’ll have to beat Brady, who reached his 10th Super Bowl in 20 seasons, to do so.”

6-3 in super bowls. So Far. Imagine 7-3 in super bowls as a QB. That’s just ridiculous.

    • Love Brady or hate Brady. But no one can say he isn’t good. And at 43 years old to be in football still, plus playing well still, is absolutely incredible. I’ve never been a fan but much respect. Being an old guy myself, it kind of makes you want to root for the old guy… then I remember that Andy Reed is no spring chicken either so I can root for him.

      • Hard to argue against Brady being the goat at this point but he has also had the luxury of some pretty amazing defenses almost his entire career.

        • Yeah he played for some great overall teams. But he is good at reading defenses and placing the ball just in the right place. He is slipping a little, 3 picks against Green Bay, but still better then average.

          • And another pass that was basically a hail mary but caught by his receiver. If KC blitzes a lot I see Brady having a bad game. He misses Edelman with those quick slants when the blitz is coming at him.

          • I dunno, Brady is pretty good at reading the D and getting the ball out fast in the face of blitzes. Kind of seems like the best way to stop a truly great QB is with an elite D line that can generate a blitz like pass rush without sending extra help… which is easier said than done and not really the Chiefs MO. Should be interesting. Mahomes is more physically gifted than Brady and can clearly put up points if it turns into a boat race.

        • There’s no real argument anymore about who is the goat in the NFL now, Tom Brady. The argument is strengthened even more given that he plays in the era of free agency and salary caps.

          • Yeah, though Mahomes clearly has the skill to be the goat. But it is going to be tough sledding for him to become the goat once his contract gets up there more. KC will have to really nail their drafts.

          • I think the only real argument is the history of cheating. Not taking away that he isn’t talented. Extra intel would help a smart person like Brady. How long were the patriots spying on people before they got caught? I can’t get behind cheaters no matter how old they are.

  15. Good win for Beavs. Loss to Arizona showed how important practice is for a team integrated new project players. Either way, we don’t match up well with Arizona. They’ve recovered nicely and beating a depleted ducks team was important to continue momentum. Beating a loaded USC team with all its players proves this team has potential. If they can get a split this week against LA schools, then post season becomes a possibility… but that’s going to be a tough task. I’d expect USC to play much better this time and will not settle for outside shots. UCLA is our best chance IMO.

Dude, it’s okay. Everyone dreams, just like the quacks thinking they will get a natty some day in a major sport. Oh and how you feeling about Heyward leaving? Take it easy there Beaver leech.

            1

Baseball isn’t major? Like MLB? It tremendously more popular then track and cross country. Which is the majority of toilet seat U’s “natties”. Its on the same level as OSU multi year reign as badminton national champions.

          • 1
            1

College baseball is not major. Most of the good players go directly to the pros out of high school. College baseball loses money every year in every program. Two years ago the women’s final four had better ratings and more viewers than Vanderbilt versus Michigan in baseball for the title. In the rest of your years on earth, OSU will never catch 34 and won’t even come close for your grandkids kids either

          • 4
            2

Lol, cherry picking again. Track is barely a sport in America, and ask 10 random people about cross country and 9 will think is a road trip on route 66. Let’s hear all those “major” sport championships Toilet Seat has won….along with the year.

          • 3
            1

This can’t be the same troll. The last guy had better reading comprehension. He knew what “major” meant.

Should we invite this guy over for a group hug?

          • 2
            3

Feel free to dispute any facts I posted with logic and not emotion. Baseball loses money- fact, the good players go pro- fact, women’s final 4 had more viewers (yes- women’s Final 4) which espn gives roughly 4% of its coverage. 1939 NCAA Champions in basketball. Do you have any difficult questions?

          • 3
            2

This guy even sucks at talking shit lmao. Track and cross country make a bunch of money and lots of people watch it. Haha. He likes his own posts and downvotes everyone else’s. Super insecure and pathetic. Its literally part of his daily routine to come here and try to tear people down. That’s super sad and pathetic. Birger!

          • 4
            3

You are full of shit regarding baseball. Conforto, Madrigal, and Rutschman would beg to differ. Look baseball was a big priority for Nikegon and it’s been a huge failure. You can tout track and field and you have a point, but don’t try to undersell the importance of college baseball because the Duck experiment hasn’t worked out. You like to talk “honesty”, but you’re also disingenuous at times.

          • Who am I tearing down? Just posting facts. Over 63% of the top high school baseball players who turned down the MLB money to head to college instead received significantly less money and signing bonuses after coming out of college and turning pro. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.baseballamerica.com/stories/dollars-and-sense-is-it-worth-it-to-go-back-to-school/%3Famphtml. So….. the top draft picks (and smartest) don’t play college baseball

          • All sports except football lose money. That argument is tired. No one cares about track either. So you hang your hat on a 1939 basketball championship, although its neat they played in the first (kind of) tournament its irrelevant.
You do realize that 1939 is closer to the end of the (real) Civil War then it is to 2021 right?
But really, the big 3 (football, basketball and baseball) are all anyone really cares about.

          • “What percentage of MLB players go to college?
In the first and supplemental first rounds of 2018, there were actually more high school players picked (53.5 percent) than college players (46.5 percent). By the second and third rounds, the preference shifts back to college players, by a margin of 67 percent to 31 percent. Jun 14, 2018

  16. Heyward is leaving the Ducks. After Williams left, he is their best recruiter. Looks like he is angling to be the DC of Cal. That could work as Wilcox is the real leader of defensive schemes. Too bad his salary is too high for a return to OSU as we could really use of a recruiter of his stature. First to admit that he is an awful coach, but you can’t argue with how he recruits.

    • So they traded DCs? Heyward’s salary was $600K and DeRuyter was $400K at Cal. Hopefully Heyward is getting a raise and can parlay this into a HC job in the future.

    https://www.deseret.com/sports/2020/11/9/21557211/why-utah-state-moved-on-from-gary-andersen-aggies-football

Another head scratcher in the curious case of Gary Anderson.

Also, this article was brutal in its casual thrashing of OSU’s record & performance, and totally screwed up cause & effect. Anderson IS the reason that OSU has been such a mess lately. It was certainly not at that point “one of the worst programs in the country,” a “perennial loser,” a “coaching graveyard,” and “career suicide.” Prior to Gary arriving after 2014, OSU had gone:

    2006: 10-4
    2007: 9-4
    2008: 9-4
    2009: 8-5
    2010: 5-7
    2011: 3-9
    2012: 9-3
    2013: 7-6
    2014: 5-7

Trending down, as we all knew at the time, but still a winning program and a respectable one. The narrative is false and it’s damaging.

        • Yes, funny how that works when the FACTS come out and those that are FACT deniers claim otherwise and put out trashy innuendo regarding the cheerleader story which had no basis of FACT. The goof still maintains that GA was doing a cheerleader or a former volleyball coach….I didn’t care for GA but at least he was consistent from program to program that he wouldn’t accept guaranteed money when left while under contract. Anyway, what’s done is done and I harbor no ill will towards the guy. Go Beavers!

          • While true, who hired the guy? Nobody forced OSU to hire him…OSU AD made a bad hire and he turned out to be crappy. Nobody forced OSU to hire him. Obviously a bad hire but at least he left sooner than later. What’s done is done and doesnt do any good to hold a grudge IMO. In the end, we have much better coach and the future looks better than it ever did with GA. At least GA beat the Schmucks running Nall down their pathetic throats pretty much like the beavers did a few months ago 41-38 with Double J.

You had 28 straight losing seasons and you lost to Eastern Washington and sac state And would’ve lost to PSU had they had a kicker. Your last winning season was eight years ago and even that was 7-6. What are you talking about? You don’t lead any series Over any team in the pac 12 either do you? What games have you been watching?

      • 1
        1

That’s true obv and certainly didn’t help Anderson. Regardless, that was not on the radar in 2014 and had nothing to do with the quality or attractiveness of the program at the time. The narrative of Anderson leaving a great team and coming in as a hero to save a hopeless program is absurd. At the time, Wisconsin would have been a comparable (albeit somewhat more successful) program. Mostly a lateral move. Since then, the two have obviously diverged hugely, mostly thanks to Anderson himself.

          • Ah, scratch that. I fact checked myself and I was underestimating how good they had been in that same 2006-2014 period. They were really good. Yeah Wisconsin was a better team & program, close to elite status.

Still though, I’ll maintain OSU was a decent, above average, winning program at that point. Riley was coasting and setting us up for problems down the road, but Anderson was the one who truly tanked us and dragged us into the CFB gutter. I wonder how many wins McM alone would have been worth.

Not very impressive. Pretty much has a giant hole to run through everytime. I’m surprised they couldn’t find someone better for a PWO at RB.

      • PWOs aren’t filling spots by position, they could take all PWOs as RBs. They just want guys who might be able to develop no matter what position. For the first couple years, they’ll be scout team tackling dummies anyway.

This guy is a one star based on his film now. Good high school player but no real speed or size for any position. If he survives being a tackling dummy for the first couple years, maybe he could turn into a special teams player. Safety is where I’d see him playing if he sees the field.

        • Gobeavs said he was coming as a RB. They take position based PWOs all of the time especially at qb, kicker, and punter. That doesn’t mean they’ll stay there.

    • Good enough for a PWO.

Looks like the fastest guy on the field in his junior year highlights. If you compare his junior film to Ryan Nall’s junior film (trying to gauge based on age and competition level), Haines looks faster.

I can’t find a 40 time anywhere, but he posted a pretty good SPARQ score this summer that tells me his 40 time was probably in the 4.7’s. That’s elite speed by any means, but there are plenty of successful college backs with 40 times in that range. The biggest question is if he can add 25 lbs or so and not lose a step.

Either way, he has D1 athleticism, he just needs a position.

  19. 5
    2

Hey nicebeav do you know if the Beavs have a PWO offer to brody reese ? I would think that would be a smart offer considering their trouble recruiting DTs.

  20. Josh Simmons, the 4*OL from San Diego who has been all over the map with offers since the first signing day, has decided to stay home and chose SDSU.

Also, was told the Beavs roster will be losing somebody to medical retirement soon. Dont know who, but my first guess is Whittley with his heart issues. Or possibly Morris? No idea, but we should find out soon enough.

  21. I’m expecting another PWO commit sometime over the next 48 hours. No idea when exactly. They tend to like spreading the news out rsther than having it all hit at the same time.

  22. I get the impression that OSU is trying to attract a top level transfer to play RB for us. Just basing this off how much I’ve seen them promoting our RB lineage lately, with a video last week going back to the Simonton days through today, as well as posting JJs career stats today. Just seems like they’re trying to get someone’s attention.

I see where you know who is back in full bloom again. I will no longer directly respond to his trolling efforts but it is easy to see how toxic this guy is to any social media platform. Why he is allowed to troll this site is anyone’s guess, but he has been banned at least 3 times over the past 10 months. Feel free to down vote this comment as many times as you like but the proof is in his toxic comments. I have been criticized for responding to his constant anti social rants and that is fine with me, however, just look how the tone of this board has changed since he has slithered back in regardless of whether or not I respond to his toxicity. Feed the troll and he just feeds off the attention. He’s toxic, clueless and classless and he knows it and enjoys it…don’t feed the troll.

Could I live more in your head than I do now swamms? You think about me 24/7 even when you’re “not posting to me” you’re posting about me. Banning YOU would likely quiet this blog down substantially. Trust me when I tell you that I’m not the only one thinking that. I do enjoy your novellas though. I usually only get through the first sentence before breaking out into a belly laugh. Even your veiled attempts at getting me banned are hysterically weak. The irony is that you did the exact same thing you’re accusing me of on Oregonlive for 7 years. Identical

At least you are willing to admit you’re a stalker. Dont get me wrong, I’m not interested in hearing Swammi complain about you or vice versa. But when you aren’t around, Swammi pretty much sticks to OSU sports related conversation and doesn’t antagonize other posters.
Might I suggest finding something productive to do with your time and forgetting swammi exists.

      • I tried to prevent him from ruining this board but he has infected it just like he did on the other platform. Oh well, trolls never die….they just troll and troll and troll. On to the beavers and the upcoming bsseball season….and the rest of basketball too. Go beavers!
