The D won’t be able to stop Utah, especially when it matters. This game will come down to the play calling. If Chance isn’t playing well, the game plan will need to be adjusted accordingly. Lindgren can’t call another stinker.
Apropos of nothing, but fat defensive linemen should not wear numbers in the 30s. Schad’s out there looking like a middle aged dad dressed up as a linebacker for Halloween.
Game over before it even started. We’re so soft. Looks like these guys might have bailed on Smith because of that punt call last week. We were more physical earlier in the year.
Starting to look like Idaho, Hawaii and UW just aren’t good teams. USC not great either but a level above our other 3 wins. Beavs pretending this year.
Not really. We were pretty good then. It’s clear to me the players bailed. Saw the change immediately after that fake punt call. They became soft and it’s carried into this week. They bailed on him. Also, I have 12mg in me, so maybe I’m just being a dick…lol.
If Gould is comfortable with the offense he should be in every play. Him and Harrison are the only wideouts in sold on. Bradford and Lindsay need to get open and catch more.
Another third down coming up and it’s not short yardage either. If beavs can’t get off the field in these third downs, it’s going to gas them in the 4th qtr.
in a way, this was the turning point of the game. even when the Beavs were down 14-0 the crowd was still into it. I think it helped stiffen the D resolve.
There’s something demoralizing about loading the box and still getting punished by the run. Especially when your a good team like Utah. It seeds doubt.
That pass was an “oh you” moment.
I like this “comment of the night” idea…might roll with this.
“There’s no chill at angrybeavs.com” – bendbeaver
“I trust Alec Baldwin with a prop gun after snorting an 8 ball more than our 3rd down defense.” – Whiskey Soaked Napkins
“LOL we get a third down stop, but it’s in fourth down territory.” Beav in OH
What’s sad is the wheel route was wide open on the Nolan fumble at the end of the first half. The entire stadium was yelling at him to throw it. Same thing with the Colletto TD. Had another guy wide open in back of the end zone. This is a theme.
So is it good that we’ve given up like 9/11 scoring drives on defense? 1 was the victory formation vs.WSU. lol. How anyone outside his family is still backing Tibs at this point beyond me.
Said before that this is the most important game of the season, still feel that way; now we get the most important half of the season coming up.
It’s beginning to look like a win in the Civil War will be required for the Beavs to win the PAC North on a tie breaker over nike. One can dream.
If it’s not the refs calling penalties against us, its us hurting our own chances. So wish we had a backup QB we could throw out there and be consistent and protect the ball.
Didn’t we run the ball 20 something straight against the ducks a few years ago. Totally demoralized them, and we won. Maybe just do that in the second half, I dare ya coach!
Jones #8 in for Jaydon Grant on special teams. Bradford the returner is #8. Both were on the punt. Thats on coaches and equipment team not realizing they needed to change jersey #’s.
On the broadcast they had to lower the volume
On the crowd noise so you could hear the announcer. If there’s one thing our crowds know it’s how to boo with volume.
Well also the red was making announcements while the music was playing. Couldn’t hear the equipment explanation. Pac-12 needs to invest in some better mics. Kept cutting out.
What I’d like to know is how the refs see two guys with the same number, yet they don’t see all the blatantly obvious shit calls that continually ruin our seasons.
More disappointed in some of the dumb penalties (uniform numbers? seriously?), than for being overly aggresive.
Is Addison Gumbs absence about more than just the injury?
Man – Pac12’s tv production is not good.
People won’t say it in these parts, but Oregon has played its way out of the Playoff, whether they win out or not – the way they’ve played the last three games. Meanwhile, Ohio State has been rolling teams.
Is Nolan the kind of QB who really isn’t much of a passer, but really helps make the running game go?
KW with a horrible 4th down call. Kick the FG, then go for the TD +2 later. These coaches are all degenerates who listen to a sheet of numbers over common sense.
It’s not a bad play but I think going for it is the best risk/reward b/c it ends the game if you make it, and not much at all to lose if you don’t make it. FG keeps it in no man’s land a bit longer.
Well after the first quarter this was the last ending I expected. Good for them. Lots of takeaways from this game. ST with 2 block punts (even though one was called back). Two huge 4th and goal stands. Nolan kind of showed up in the end. The Running game is almost unstoppable.
Well, I don’t want to jinx us, but we’re undefeated at home so far this season. Two.more home games left. Stanford and ASU in November. Colder weather, I really like our chances. At CAL next Saturday who looks like a bottom feeder in the Pac-12 North. Then @COL and we should definitely win that game. I see us winning out and the CW is for the pac-12 championship. Oregon is beatable.
Posts of the night by Bleedorange21? I wasn’t sharing his optimism at the end of the first quarter. Living through the end of Riley and the Anderson years leaves little hope. Give Bleedorange21? the “Not a Bandwagon Fan” trophy. Well done, and great digging deep win.
So many chicken littles that think the sky is falling after every little thing.
Well can the picnickers. Settle down just a little? Its a long game.
Maybe: We’re so soft. Looks like these guys might have bailed on Smith because of that punt call last week. We were more physical earlier in the year.
Who said that?
I notice our DBs going too high. Trying to catch guys up around the shoulders and pull them down. Utah dbs were going for the leg sweeps which I would prefer our guys would do. Also lots of just hitting dudes trying to knock them over and not wrapping up. It’s maddening.
It’s like they always tackle like it is right at the line to gain. Like when you got a guy at the line of scrimmage on 1st and 10 it is not worth the risk, just give up a yard and use a proper tackle.
Biggest positives were that the coaches made adjustments on offense and defense that were enough to get some key plays to change the game. Also, the offense was able to impose their physicality as the game went on.
Great atmosphere, crowd was loud even if not a full stadium, pac 12 refs suck balls, my dudes balled out even when down 14, bros fed off the crowd,, band kicked ass, I’m hoarse, go fucking beavs!
I think we need a new stat for Baylor. Yards after contact isn’t quite right. Yards carrying defender on back? Was just rewatching the highlight on his long run and he carries the dude at a full sprint from the 17 to the 1. Badass
Did you ever play NFL blitz? Remember when your team would be “on fire” and you’d run with defenders hanging off you? That’s what that run reminded me of haha
1) It looks like we changed a lot of what I was wanting to see, and it seemed to work. The WR rotation seemed a lot more narrow and mostly focused on Bradford and Harrison. Colletto played a lot more at LB, esp in pass situations.
2) Nolan has to protect the ball better (how is he getting run down from behind by a D-lineman?? I think this is the 3rd time in 3 games that this is happened, and all have resulted in fumbles…?!) BUT take away that play and he played well tonight. We passed a lot on 3rd down and he executed over and over including some really nice throws. Efficient and solid. Probably should be running him more though- seems like that aspect of his game is underutilized.
3) Fenwick was horrible today. Shows up in the stats (7 for 14) as well as the eyeball test. I’ve never been very impressed with him – he’s slow and despite his size can’t seem to run through arm tackles and seems to go down on first contact most of the time. Today he ran into his lineman at least twice, doing the Lowe thing. I feel like his good numbers this year have been kind of misleading and mostly him getting what was blocked. Lowe himself had a really great game and probably should have earned himself more PT (and maybe the #2 spot).
4) Burying the lede a little but Baylor was awesome. He consistently broke tackles, bounced off guys, and one way or another ground out big time yards after contact. Super impressive- never would have imagined pre-season that he’d be able to step his game like this. Any other RB is a significant step down, though I like that we’re not overworking him.
5) Hope we see more Elijah Jones. DB has been our biggest weakness on D (and maybe on the whole team) and adding an upgrade there would really help.
6) Really hope Julian’s injury is less serious than it looked. By PFF he’s our best defensive player and I would agree with that. Might be the best player on the team. Best open field tackler, great in coverage- very solid. Beautiful, textbook tackle to save the TD on 4th and 2 today.
7) Our punter has quietly been amazing this season. Great distances, great hang time – but also super clutch and many times already this season he’s improvised to salvage a disastrous situation (obviously including today). Ice water in his veins. Underrated but a major contributor.
“Nolan has to protect the ball better (how is he getting run down from behind by a D-lineman?? I think this is the 3rd time in 3 games that this is happened”
The fumble wasn’t caused by a D lineman. It was #28 Brandon McKinney who is a safety.
My bad, somehow I thought it was a huge dude live. Am I right that it was a D linemen causing the fumble from behind in WA and WaSt? That’s what I remember but I can’t find a way to fact check myself. And apparently my memory sucks lol
First of all, I think they have the best offense in the conference, and statistically that will bear out,” Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said. “They run the ball better than anybody, they score more points than anybody, convert third downs better than anybody. … Their offensive line is extremely efficient. … They’re well coached, and they have an identity, and they know exactly who they are and what they want to be.”
I watched the game and then came here afterward and reviewed the comments.
It is funny to see how negative everyone is and then at about 5:24 p.m. the attitude changes.
Beavs are 5 and 2.
Too bad we played WSU before the anti-vaxer coach was fired.
I don’t believe they could handle a full pac12 schedule. They escaped a WSU team that wasn’t playing like they did the 2 weeks before. Probably from the RoloVax saga. OSU could beat them, at least the team that showed up 10 minutes late could.
BYU has probably played eight opponents who are stronger than any conference schedule any other team in the country is playing. Virginia, the Pac-12 schools, Boise, and Baylor. I’d say they could handle the Pac-12 schedule and throw in the other three, because they have. Virginia, Boise and Baylor are all better than the bottom half of the Pac-12.
Certainly huge and the momentum swinger. But, Give honorable mention to Nolan taking a helmet to his arm and flying 3 yards backwards while getting Lloyd ejected. Really softened up their D.
That game was a two step forward kind of game like the USC game. The grit the team showed vs the crowd checking out after the first quarter was fantastic. It was difficult to get up for the team when Utah was starting what felt like a blowout. They got off the mat and punched back hard.
I hope this springs board them into the next three games. These are all 50/50 games where momentum can play a huge role. Play their game by running the ball with authority. Gets to a nice bowl game. Don’t think about pac12 title game or rose bowl. Win the next game and then the next.
Cal isn’t either. We should be significantly better than them-plus Smith has always had their number since he came on staff. Believe it or not we’ve beat them twice in a row now and we almost beat them in Smith’s first year (one of our few competitive games). Good matchup, good history, better team. TBH I don’t think it’ll be close.
I like that we get Stan and ASU at home. ASU will be tough, maybe tougher than Oregon- but every game looks winnable at this point.
I do agree that the team needs to stay focused one team at a time and not look ahead.
So we’re about 200 rushing yards from having the best rushing season of the Smith Era. With a crazy 5.7 ypc we are on track for a school record for ypc.
Watching awesome rushing and a road grading offensive line is so fun.
BJ is now #27 all time in yards and has the highest ypc of any Oregon state RB over 1000 yards career at 6.1. James Rodgers is #1 with an absolutely silly 8.1. He’s tied with AP at 17 with 15 career TDs. We’re watching a historical performance.
Should expect the beavs to get a couple votes in both polls. Don’t think a ranking is warranted now but if they win the next two, they will be around 20-25
it’s always fun to go to a game and then check in on the game thread here the next day. Kudos to BleedOrange for not hitting the panic button, but as someone cogently put it above, it’s a defense mechanism for OSU fans. Been there, done that myself, so I’m not being critical with the advantage of hindsight. Classic lines in this thread, including still being worried while in the victory formation.
It’s hard not to credit the blocked punt as the definitive turning point, but limiting Utah to a FG on their third possession was a quiet turning point. It preserved the potential of getting within hailing distance with an ensuing drive, which in fact happened. Curiously, the crowd in stadium never got despondent and at times the noise began to approach the good ole days, even with the place 1/3 empty. student turnout was impressive. from what I see elsewhere on TV, maybe the best student participation in the conference.
Oh, I forgot to mention that I’m still hoarse from booing.
Bleedorange was the voice of reason last night during the first half. It’s okay to be critical, but I swear some of you on here are ready to throw in the towel on a game faster than Peter McNeeley’s corner.
I didn’t watch every single down of this game, so maybe those who did watch all of game might comment.
I understand there were adjustments defense made in the 2nd half that helped; it seemed like in the 1st half however, that the defense wasn’t put out of place necessarily? A good portion of the 3rd down conversions Utah made looked to be because poor angles or bad/missed tackles, or on pass rush, they were just a bit late.
Only a handful of plays seemed to be because the defensive play call actually was wrong, and we got burned on it.
Second half, especially near end zone, Beavers were much better. Line was actually was disruptive and getting into the backfield when it mattered.
Unlike soccer #1!!! Baby!! Too much Utah too little Beavs. UU 42. OSU 24
Man BYU has 4 wins vs PAC teams with potential for 5.
Beavs 31-21
Hate to pick against the Beavs, but Utah 34, OSU 24
48-14 utes get to make nice winter hats from beaver pelt.
I feel dirty rooting for chip kelly.
Right? DRT has some impressive tools at QB
A lot has to go right. Hopefully they play like they did vs USC.
I agree with this. First few minutes everything went wrong and they found a way to win. Guess that’s a positive in a way.
More focus from staff and team. Beavs 27-17
Baby Garbers looks scary good.
Oops, threw his first int
I was hoping the ducks would get luck o’ da beaved with a freshman stepping in. Damn.
Thought the bruins might pull it off. Damn
At least we know we could go up tempo and eventually Kavon T. will be out of gas.
Or just run at the sucker.
The D won’t be able to stop Utah, especially when it matters. This game will come down to the play calling. If Chance isn’t playing well, the game plan will need to be adjusted accordingly. Lindgren can’t call another stinker.
Run. The. Ball. Lindgren will forget at an important point during the game. It’s happened more often then not.
35-33 Beavs. Limit penalties, drops.
Damn. Big 3rd down penalty right there. PI. Had a chance to get off field.
Utah gets 3 firsts downs by penalty each game this year, it’s a rule.
Did I forget special teams?
Oh, another 3rd down given up. Drink!
Not enough beer to cover that!
Oh man. Rising using his feet was one of the reasons why I end up with Utah winning. Already making an impact.
Shocker, we’re not physical enough. Could be a blowout.
Pathetic defense again….wow! Beavers don’t score here and this game could get really ugly fast!
Apropos of nothing, but fat defensive linemen should not wear numbers in the 30s. Schad’s out there looking like a middle aged dad dressed up as a linebacker for Halloween.
Tibs is bad against 1st drive and 3rd down. Hard to win when you start behind and can’t get off the field. That was too easy
Oh no… Utah ahead 7 – Nil with 57:58 remaining in the contest. No yellow cards err.., penalties thus far.
FO ducky….
Tibs needs a red card, he sucks
So stupid.
Great start on the return.
Game over before it even started.
We’re so soft. Looks like these guys might have bailed on Smith because of that punt call last week. We were more physical earlier in the year.
We’re fucked. Utah is much more prepared in half the time.
What a shit show.
Wow. Hope to make it look better than 2 years ago.
So many chicken litlles that think the sky is falling after every little thing.
Ru watching the game? About everything that could go wrong has gone wrong in the first 6 minutes.
Great start boys! This is amazing! Nothing wrong here. Lol. C’mon man.
No one said that but it’s 5 minutes in. C’mon man.
Yeah, what great start. Wide open in the end zone. 14-0 without breaking a sweat..
Yep, Great start by the decision not to take the ball on the 25. Fumbled snap on the punt. Yep, looks like the bye week really helped.
Yikes. Looking zzzzzzz off they bye hangover
This is one ugly ass start
Hopefully USC hires Smith. Lolz
Time for a few pints
Please explain quickly why I see Noyer and not Nolan in the box score.
No clue, it’s Nolan
At this point it’s really the same thing.
Another stupid ass penalty in third down.
Ouch
How are we so unprepared after 2 weeks off? Fire Tibs after this game.
Well so far we suck.
I repeat:
Game over before it even started. We’re so soft. Looks like these guys might have bailed on Smith because of that punt call last week. We were more physical earlier in the year.
Bit of a stretch 12 mg angry lol
Starting to look like Idaho, Hawaii and UW just aren’t good teams. USC not great either but a level above our other 3 wins. Beavs pretending this year.
Not really. We were pretty good then. It’s clear to me the players bailed. Saw the change immediately after that fake punt call. They became soft and it’s carried into this week. They bailed on him. Also, I have 12mg in me, so maybe I’m just being a dick…lol.
Lol. I mean we looked really good against inferior competition.
Hey look. A slant for easy yards.
So damn sloppy
3rd 1 and another procedural penalty bit convert.
Some nice fire from the RBs.
Man, if Lowe just had a 1 out of 10 on vision…
Needs a level up for sure. He’s still got a few years though.
Baylor hates going down.
Great use of Gould! He’s fast fast fast
Said it week 3: Gould should replace all Flemings’ reps.
Yep, every time he touches the ball, he makes a positive play. Impressive speed to the edge. Hopefully, the defense will show up now.
If Gould is comfortable with the offense he should be in every play. Him and Harrison are the only wideouts in sold on. Bradford and Lindsay need to get open and catch more.
Well now, you go with Gould and speed and a score. Maybe the beavers thought the game started a half hour later.
Well can the panickers. Settle down just a little? Its a long game.
I’m switching from beer to Beaver juice.
No
Looks like they got the cobwebs shaken out. I like Gould.
Much needed drive there. No points would’ve been bad.
54 penalty yards already.
Anyone get the reference?
https://twitter.com/angrybeavs/status/1452065673002115074
Stadium looks decently populated. I like the sea of big orange fingers.
Utah loading the box, if Lindgren has any confidence in Chance at all we’ll see that exploited later.
Looks like they’re trying to disguise some and rush up and load it late.
Another third down coming up and it’s not short yardage either. If beavs can’t get off the field in these third downs, it’s going to gas them in the 4th qtr.
Yep but unfortunately this is where rising is dangerous.
Ugh.
Drink!
Can this team get a stop on 3rd? What is that now, 0 for the last 11?
0/12.
Hey, look: another third down conversion.
Another third and three… Nope.
…Drink!
Looks like the defense is very solid in first and second downs but forgets about third down….and another third down.
See, the chainsaw works.
4th down.and 1. Nope….
LOL we get a third down stop, but it’s in fourth down territory
It’s like RAAAAAAIN on your wedding day…….
Defense is bad…..
I kinda miss Kevin Clune
Hell, I miss Banker!
Can we go the entire 1st half without a stop?
Certainly looks that way.
Glad this didn’t age well. Still gave up points but better than 6 straight td’s
Brutal
Another third down conversion.
..Drink!
I’m going to die at this rate
You should drink when we DO get the stop. Much healthier.
I’m already half drunk and I don’t drink.
I wouldn’t gain any weight during football season atleast haha
I’m drinking every down.
There we go!
I’ll drink to that
Oh, another 3rd down and 5…..what do you know. A stop and FG made. I guess that’s progress.. Lol
in a way, this was the turning point of the game. even when the Beavs were down 14-0 the crowd was still into it. I think it helped stiffen the D resolve.
At least the defense makes them snap it again. Just need to get some turnovers!
I don’t think Rising is going to make many mistakes. He looks very sharp.
Only made 2 mistakes all year so far.
I trust Alec Baldwin with a prop gun after snorting an 8 ball more than our 3rd down defense.
Not too soon.
How long u been waiting to use that one?
Hell yeah Baylor. I love that he still got tackled for 14 yards. Badass
That’s a game changing run.
Great play call to tie it.
It looks like the bye might have helped the offense. I wish the defense would show some signs of putting it together
Sadly, nothing can help Tibesar
and yet, in the end, the D had two stops inside the 5
Utah has the right idea. We don’t have the personnel for 2 TE sets. Grinding drives.
https://twitter.com/angrybeavs/status/1452071141720268805
So now are the chicken littles ready to chill?
lol how long have you been a fan? This is just happening so our hopes will be crushed later.
There’s no chill at angrybeavs.com
This should go on Twitter, too
I don’t know I feel pretty chill, if ya know what I mean……..
Gummies will do that.
Congrats
https://twitter.com/angrybeavs/status/1452072805827104768
Yes!
Well let’s see if the defense can show up. So far 3,/3 on scoring drives.
On the one yard line with 3 good RBs and we pass? Why? It’s like they want to pad the passing stats just because.
It’s like we don’t have one of the top running games in the country
I agree. That was a very weird play call.
This is why you didn’t get that offensive coordinator position.
Well what makes sense about it? Same thing happened at WSU, run all over them then pass for some reason. It’s confusing.
I liked it. Everyone expecting run. Super low risk pass with Colletto as a run decoy. It’s great.
Exactly
There’s something demoralizing about loading the box and still getting punished by the run. Especially when your a good team like Utah. It seeds doubt.
That pass was an “oh you” moment.
Did anyone expect that pass to Colletto? Only way I can explain it would be that it comes back later as a diversion.
Oh god, 3rd and 12.
Yup, that’s about right.
….Drink!
It’s laughable. This is looking historically bad for 3rd down conversions.
Wow. Austin gets torched again. Weird
The defense is just plain crappy.
We got bailed out there. Lol. Tibesar is so bad
Defense showed up chicken littles!
Thanks to the qb not hitting his wide open guy on 3rd down. Lol. Tibs owes the QB a steak
With an assist from the Utes QB. Inot under thrown it was a TD but I won’t look a gift horse in the mouth.
HELL YA CHUGGING CIDER
Do you guys make cider too?
No, went down to Legend. I live in Sunriver area
Alton Julian MVP!
Wow. That was a stupid call for KW.
Julian saves a TD, as expected.
A sloppy tackle there results in 6
Wow, the defense gets a much needef stop on 4th and goal from the 3. 97 yard drive would be great right now.
I was going to type “this is a stupid 4th down call by KW…” but it happened too fast.
Also, QB false started on that play. Refs didn’t call it.
Yup, Rising running wide would have been 6.
Rising took 2 steps before the ball was even snapped
Bend, break, break again, bend, stop? Bend bend bend stop?….win?
Ninkasi Total Dom……..in memory of Jack.
Let’s hold a vote after the game.
Bradford needs to make more catches like that. Awesome.
Jesus Nolan!
He lost that.
Uh oh. That guy was in bounds.
Yeah that’s a recovered fumble by Utah. Fuck a fork
THROW THE FUCKING BALL AWAY!!!!!
Nolan in the last 2 games is what noyer was the first 1.
Spam bot got a few people. Sorry about that. Approved all.
AHM just absolutely owned the TE to get the TFL
3rd and 10 glug glug glug
There it is, Rising running outside.
……Drink!
Nolan’s fumble causing points and our 2 starting safeties injuries?
Defense showing up today.
Didn’t see a replay, was Utah clean on the 2 injury play?
What’s sad is the wheel route was wide open on the Nolan fumble at the end of the first half. The entire stadium was yelling at him to throw it. Same thing with the Colletto TD. Had another guy wide open in back of the end zone. This is a theme.
Nolan on the sideline looks like he’s been told that he is done for the day, we’ll see.
Smith won’t make a change after that
Man Nolan. Was high on him after first 4 games but man. He freezes at times.
Glad Nolan came back to us. Second half he redeemed himself.
What a terrible terrible mistake by Nolan! Kicked the d in the nutz with that 1.
The Lamar Jackson carry the ball like a loaf of bread technique.
How many times do you think Chance has thought “man, I should have thrown that ball away”? And then he decides to not throw it away…again.
Nolan may have run out of Chances with that retarded fumble, but do we really have an alternative at this point?
Da-dum tssch!
I have four years of eligibility. All we need is the wormhole.
Not only is Nolan still in, but his head is in the game on that first play.
That might have been the greatest punt in OSU history.
Getting that other one away was good work too.
Baylor 102 yards on 8 carries
That’s the kind of stat that makes Lindgren pass happy.
Sad to agree, can’t ignore history.
Well there was a 66 harder that skew sthings a bit but I hear you.
It’s enough of a sample size to say that Nolan is now a liability, but the only other option is to give the keys back to Noyer.
Those poor bastards who signed an NIL deal with Nolan.
That’s in the running for comment of the day!
So is it good that we’ve given up like 9/11 scoring drives on defense? 1 was the victory formation vs.WSU. lol. How anyone outside his family is still backing Tibs at this point beyond me.
Give Bray the DC position. His dad taught him well.
Said before that this is the most important game of the season, still feel that way; now we get the most important half of the season coming up.
It’s beginning to look like a win in the Civil War will be required for the Beavs to win the PAC North on a tie breaker over nike. One can dream.
The defense won’t let that happen
Holy jumpin upndown backboard! Beavs need to play better D!
Need to bring Tinkle in to show them how to play some defense.. anything other than what they are doing… that or just gets stops on 2nd and 4th down
Put glue on Nolan’s hands so he can only hand off
Nolan 5/7 1TD 2FUM
He couldn’t possibly turn it over more, right? Can’t we just trust reversion to the mean?
“Here’s the play that probably made Jonathan Smith an Angry Beaver at halftime”
Gebbia? Noyer? Vidlak?
Hell, Mannion is on the sidelines, put him in. Or even Niner, himself.
If it’s not the refs calling penalties against us, its us hurting our own chances. So wish we had a backup QB we could throw out there and be consistent and protect the ball.
I was glad to see smith irate with the refs. Headset was off a lot.
Ma boy, Lindsey.
Didn’t we run the ball 20 something straight against the ducks a few years ago. Totally demoralized them, and we won. Maybe just do that in the second half, I dare ya coach!
That was during the Andersen era. McMaryion was the qb.
Don’t worry refs still sucking
Two nice passes by Chance in a row.
Suck it, refs
And a third for the TD
Now, will Tibs put a spy on Rising? Will anyone get into the Utah backfield?
Julian on crutches
Toothsome cheerleader, eh BeaverGopher (and Gary Andersen)?
Fatheringham? That’s an unfortunate name.
Drink!
Whittingham channels his inner Scratch Ticket Smith……..fail
Wow?
Musgrave with a TD where he doesn’t have to make a catch!
Sup chicken littles!
Musgrave
That was beautiful! Something brewin’!
Ma boy, Musgrave!
Cookus making a major turning point there.
Musgrave on SPECIAL TEAMS!
Finally Musgrave makes a huge play.
Back from game and tailgate and now caught up on the DVR. Can make smart ass comments in real time baby!
It’s a good feeling.
Those are the plays that make teams, winning teams.
Robert’s out… dang
Nice 3rd down D BTW…
Nolan is actually 9/12 for 2TDs. Low yardage of 97. But not bad.
Just a horrendous end to the first half.
At least one drop, too
Already crappy secondary gets thinner
Grant out… that’s even worse
No kidding
Grant
So maybe we move Austin back to safety and bring Jones in at corner?
Frustrated passionate player.
And a captain, too bad.
Horseshit
Luck of the Beavs… killed our momentum
Going through our D like shit through a goose!
At least Grant won’t be in to leave any more receivers wide open.
Yeah, he’s passing the mantle to Arnold
Fucking bullshit!! The QB is a runner, didn’t give himself up and is not defenseless!
Doesn’t matter if they call leading with the helmet
Sadly, spot on.
Our defense is defensive less….
That wasn’t the call… He led with the crown, that will get you DQ’d every time… although it’s hard not to, there was no intent but it doesn’t matter
Ducks get to rip off helmets but Beavs aren’t allowed to tackle…Thanks PAC12 ref program
Angry………the bot is making me do simple math
What’s 2+2?
22 goodnight
I think opponents are wanting Champ to return kicks.
Lowe!
That’s def targeting, wow
Tits for Tats, number zero.
Tits for tots?
Cajun tots?
Tibs for Tokes?
Is Davis still out for Utah? If so, they lost their top two defensive players.
Nice play call!,,,,
Nice!
Do we have to take a shot every time the broadcast crew goes to the “razzle dazzle” well?
That’s a good one. How about every time we get a 3rd down stop? Also known as Prohibition.
All hat, some cattle on that play call!
Say what you want but don’t count a Smith team out!
How many stupid ass penalties will we get?
A really big one apparently
Don’t worry, the defense will bail them out.
If Wright is in at S, I assume Jones is in at CB?
No replay on the penalty?
Wright sees the ball, Blue would be proud!
Tibs making adjustments today… what is going on?
Bend but don’t break!
Roberts coming up big after last week
TFL on 3rd? Credit Tibs!…..or not
Called a slant into it so yes!
So we never saw a replay on the call on skelton? Phantom call?
21 point 3rd is pretty damn nice
Holy shit !
The Beavs no longer give up which is one of the best changes we’ve seen this year so far.
So true, glad you’re still around BeavGirl
Are you f’ing kidding me!!
HQ is really pulling for Utah, it seems
Well just caught up after putting the kids down. Rush game is sick. Every time we get a 3rd down stop we block a punt which is neat.
Fucking fuck dumb fuck mistake.
Yup
Wooowwwwwwwwwwwww
Wtf boooooo fuck these refs
First time I’ve ever seen that call. Smiths really knows how to be original.
Nothing sways a play like having two guys on the field with the same number.
HOW DO TWO PLAYERS HAVE THE SAME NUMBER? LIKE EVER?
Pick a different number, oh my god. If we lose a game because of that I am going to lose my mind.
All CFB teams do.
Un fucking believable. That has to be a first, or at least a first in many years for that penalty. At least in the modern era.
Jones #8 in for Jaydon Grant on special teams. Bradford the returner is #8. Both were on the punt. Thats on coaches and equipment team not realizing they needed to change jersey #’s.
Other note. Nice to see Colleto in coverage on obvious pass downs.
OMG a 3 rd down stop.
Roberts with the tip
3 of them this half. They are super good strategy it turns out.
Dumbest rule around. I am sorry but that shouldn’t be a rule. Had nothing to do with the play.
You know what’s even dumber than the rule? Having two guys on one team with the same number.
Kinda hard to have a 100+ player roster with no duplicate numbers.
Most teams have duplicate numbers.
I agree. It’s practically British it’s so pedantic. What’s the reason for it? Refs need to know who to flag? Ffs
Haha! Naw, it’s dumb in today’s game… the only plays that matter are reviewed “targeting” in particular. Doesn’t make sense today.
Crowd loudly booing these fucking refs…fuck them! Crowd is loud!
Wife says “this really good”. Me.. too soon they always find a way to screw it up.” Two #8’s now that’s creative.
Even you didn’t pull that one coach.
Never crossed my mind.., those crazy young coaches, so creative.
“this looks really good.”
Oregon state with the lead and the ball in the fourth with no Lloyd for Utah. Take care of business and run the clock to put this away.
What I’d like to know is how the refs see two guys with the same number, yet they don’t see all the blatantly obvious shit calls that continually ruin our seasons.
Angry I think Lowe may be a 2 on vision now. He’s have a hell of a game.
Beat me to it. He’s really finding some seams….
Bring it home Beavs!
Did u really ask the gumbs question? In a game thread? Lol
I heard at the game it’s a vaccine thing for gumbs.
Lowe finding his stride
Woo. hoooo.
BJ gives no fucks Baylor. Guys a Badger. BJ Badger Baylor.
I want to see him bring back the Beaver Chomp until he gets in trouble.
Honey badger don’t give a fuck.
So this is what a playoff atmosphere feels like, huh? I can get used to this……
Let’s keep talking trash about Nolan. .He has thrown the ball very well despite his fumble. Hopefully, we can pick Rising.
Weeeee!
Lindgren looking like a mastermind… love that we have a huge number of recruits at this game.
So far only 1 drop this game and Lindsay made up for it immediately.
Did Doozledorf pass out?
I think I hate Utah more than any team in the PAC, so this is doubly glorious.
Kinda funny that they struggle more in a year where everyone has 25 year olds.
They’re my second least favorite team. If you lived in Oregon they would be your second least favorite team too.
Completely.
USC, theres no one besides UO I like see loose more.
Well then you’re having a hell of a night.
Defense due for a turnover!
Was just thinking nice thoughts about Tibs, then this drive happened. I need to stop.
Jones with a really nice play. Now I see why he’s been upset.
Fun fact: we haven’t allowed points on any drive where Jones has played
Clock is gonna be an issue for Utah soon. Their drives are very slow.
Game!
That’s a beaver defense.
WHOS THE GAMBLER NOW???
KW with a horrible 4th down call. Kick the FG, then go for the TD +2 later. These coaches are all degenerates who listen to a sheet of numbers over common sense.
I don’t get why Utah tries to pass there
Get it to their best player on the field.
Austin makin Blue smile!
Delay of game ? We’ll take it
WOW. Hell yes.
MA BOY, HARRISON!
Wow, I can’t believe this is OSU. This team is fun!
Fuckkkk yessssss!!!!! Great job by Austin. Harrison completely lost by the D. Eat shit Utah!!!
fucking ZERO!!!!!
Ma man Harrison
As the kids say, WHITTINGHAM IS SHOOK!
Bib, beav fire got him cake faced.
4.04 left and time out on the field…beava have the ball…LET’S FUCKING GO!!!!
Punch these dummies in the gooch
FINISH THEM.
Fake punt time!
Musgrave with a catch!
TQ?
Yup
Save the BIRGing, still 4 min to go.
Just punt dummies. Utah drives take forever.
I prefer a pooch punt there
Yeah! Just do the silly qb one
Gotta go for it now.
Yes
no, make Utah drive for the rest of the game
And, 9 6=15
Still the right call. A punt that goes in the endzone nets you 15 yards. Still a two score game. Worth the risk.
I would have just let Hayes give it a try if your gonna take a risk.
It’s not a bad play but I think going for it is the best risk/reward b/c it ends the game if you make it, and not much at all to lose if you don’t make it. FG keeps it in no man’s land a bit longer.
Guess I’ve been a beav to long. I was just 100% sure Utah would get a pick 6.
Nolan has been far from safe
what’s this: Angry in favor of Smith going for it on 4th!
We can’t try a 52.yard fg?
Should have done a Nolan punt instead of passing the ball.
Ughhh
Elijah Jones has still never allowed a TD in a Beaver uniform
Even if the play clock expires and no flag
Beaver football is bad for my heart!
Keeps you fit
Or hypertension. Tomato-tomato.
Why are we calling a TO? Stop being cute.
Why did we call a timeout?
1:53, now y’all can BIRG
Punt block wins the game for us. Huge play by Musgrave.
Lots of credit to go around: Roberts, Lowe, of course Baylor…….even Nolan.
Storming the field? All I am thinking is COVID outbreak
Good test of vaccine effectiveness
NO ONE IS GETTING COVID OUTDOORS!
Well after the first quarter this was the last ending I expected. Good for them. Lots of takeaways from this game. ST with 2 block punts (even though one was called back). Two huge 4th and goal stands. Nolan kind of showed up in the end. The Running game is almost unstoppable.
Pivotal win by Oregon State. I think this team has an identity now. They can take a punch. Onward.
They do have identity. Coaches: please stick to it.
It’s happening, man.
Only a lifetime beaver fan is still nervous during victory formation.
Candidate for comment of the thread.
How did you know? Ha!
Great win…Utah are the worst. Super spreader event at the end there, which will be Luck O’ da Beavs!
Did Allioti say Civil War? Cancel him!
Probably made more than few run to their ‘safe space’….
Fun game. Deflation and depression, excitement to elation, confidence and confirmation.
And you guys thought we wouldn’t be able to run on Utah:
Baylor- 8 YPC
Lowe- 18 YPC
Yep, like some of us were saying… they had a worse run defense than WSU… it showed!
Where is PBH as he has been awfully silent since talking crap about the beavs and the beavs winning. Typical duck honk!
The strategy should always be to win all your home games and at least half your road gamea
*knocking on wood*
Two #8s? I must be at the nexus of the universe!
Turn it on its side and it’s infinity
Double infinity! What does it mean?
To infinity and beyond!
Baylor! 8. YPC.
The reporters are like “we should be talking about Utah, what is this?”
Big story: Jones and Harrison.
Two guys I’ve been really high on. Should probably both be starters moving forward.
So you get high off those guys. Who knew…..
No high “on”. He’s high “off” the 15mg of weed.
5-2. “Say it again?” 5-2.
Could be 6-1 or 7-0 if not for some stupid decision making but 5-2 is very nice.
Next two games are some of the worst teams in the PAC. I feel somewhat positive we will make a bowl.
That 4.5 wins/season bet pays off, now the “win the PAC North” still alive………Nuke, did ya find your ticket?
I did! I had 50 on the pac title at 2700 odds hah. I had 250 on the over under so that’s a nice payout!
Agreed.
When we win next week we are bowl eligible and we still have 4 games after that… when is the last time we have said that as a Beaver fan?
Colletto is hitting on this MILF in the post game interview. So funny.
Dude’s not stupid.
It’s on his bucket list.
Close, but change the b to an f…
He is a multi-function player….lots of positions.
Blue Mountain St.?
This guy is horny as hell.
He’s hornier than BeaverGopher and Gary Andersen combined.
Weeiird.
You don’t like milfs? And he’s weird? Whatever
Is there a Jack Colletto fan club? I want to join. He’s like a player from the 40s. Give him a leather helmet.
He looks more like a guy out of Boogie Nights who’d snort a line of cocaine and then go nail the MILF.
So he’s the one who will be bringing back the Beaver Chomp?
I like that in a linebacker/fullback
You say that like it’s a bad thing
I called that kid crazy leg for his weird wind up qb play…but I’m in love with that kid’s grit!
Maybe:
We’re so soft. Looks like these guys might have bailed on Smith because of that punt call last week. We were more physical earlier in the year.
Who said that?
Let’s be honest. It was a fifty-fifty chance he was right.
1 drop this game. Thats why the offense rolled.
Yup
I don’t know what or maybe who settled Nolan down in the second half, but it sure the hell worked.
Maybe Beav in OH can tell us how may receivers played, seemed Lindgren narrowed the field, many here felt that would help chemistry and results.
Halftime MILF?
It seemed like Utah was playing heavier packages on D and really daring the Beavs to throw. Glad they found some balance.
Roberts, post game “the works not done yet”
Baylor with similar sentiment on TV.
These guys believe.
Love it
The tackling has got to improve. Way too many broken tackles in this game.
I noticed a couple of “ole” attempts also
I’m not sure how you fix that without a huge commitment in practice. Seems pretty fundamental and should be addressed in camp.
Roberts:’Low ego, high output’
Whiskey Soaked Napkins = high ego, low output.
My wife would agree.
Let’s have it degenerates. Give me your best shot!
Nolan 73.7%, 14.8 yds/completion
And……………7+6=13
Exciting win.
Biggest positives were that the coaches made adjustments on offense and defense that were enough to get some key plays to change the game. Also, the offense was able to impose their physicality as the game went on.
Biggest red flag is the tackling and penalties.
Just got home from the game…
Great atmosphere, crowd was loud even if not a full stadium, pac 12 refs suck balls, my dudes balled out even when down 14, bros fed off the crowd,, band kicked ass, I’m hoarse, go fucking beavs!
Did you get a giant orange finger!??!?!
No, sadly…have my towels from Washington though
I think we need a new stat for Baylor. Yards after contact isn’t quite right. Yards carrying defender on back? Was just rewatching the highlight on his long run and he carries the dude at a full sprint from the 17 to the 1. Badass
YACDOB
Yards after contact (with) dude on back
Did you ever play NFL blitz? Remember when your team would be “on fire” and you’d run with defenders hanging off you? That’s what that run reminded me of haha
Oh man totally haha
Kevin Mack in tecmo bowl
Huge win, go Beavs. A few thoughts:
High praise from a good coach.
Did you not see the 1st 11 minutes of the game? It was beyond dog shit football. A lot of teams, not just OSU don’t come back from starts like that.
Exactly.
If BYU was in the PAC-12 they’d be undefeated and all alone in first place in either division.
Play of the game has to be Luke Musgrave.
Blocks a punt then has the awareness to pick it up and run it in for the score.
That was indeed The Play and difference in the game!!!
Colorado is not a 50/50 game. The Buffs are horrible and have score 7 or fewer points in almost half of their games.
The next 2 games SHOULD be W’s.
Correct. My Gophers absolutely destroyed CU with a similar offensive strategy. We should be able to run at will on them.
Nothing there I disagree with. Next four are winnable and the toughest 2 at home (Stanford and ASSU).
Beat Cal. Let’s do that first.
In Smith’s first year we lost 49-7 to Cal on homecoming lol
It’s going to be a tough game. Minus the Wazzu game they’ve lost Al of their games by one possession.
My bad, my memory sucks lol. Thanks for clarifying
Wait, do they have a mobile backup qb?
Random observation. This TE we offered tonight has enormous hands.
I almost thought they were fake, like Chubbs wooden hand in Happy Gilmore.

Petras likey
Can’t forget the efficient game Sam Noyer played yesterday. Unsung hero.
https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/gametracker/stats/NCAAF_20211023_UTAH@OREGST/
CBS keeping its standards high lol
So we’re about 200 rushing yards from having the best rushing season of the Smith Era. With a crazy 5.7 ypc we are on track for a school record for ypc.
Watching awesome rushing and a road grading offensive line is so fun.
BJ is now #27 all time in yards and has the highest ypc of any Oregon state RB over 1000 yards career at 6.1. James Rodgers is #1 with an absolutely silly 8.1. He’s tied with AP at 17 with 15 career TDs. We’re watching a historical performance.
Another big performance. Avery Roberts with 16 tackles last night. He is averaging 10.8 per game and on pace for over 130 on the season. Dam Bruh
Not only that, but he had a big TFL or two and a big pass deflection
Should expect the beavs to get a couple votes in both polls. Don’t think a ranking is warranted now but if they win the next two, they will be around 20-25
Kinda annoying. I bet if Utah won they would be ranked.

it’s always fun to go to a game and then check in on the game thread here the next day.
Booing is our greatest tradition. I’d challenge any fan base in football to a boo off. Phili is probably the biggest threat to the title.
Bleedorange was the voice of reason last night during the first half. It’s okay to be critical, but I swear some of you on here are ready to throw in the towel on a game faster than Peter McNeeley’s corner.
This team doesn’t quit.
