No analysis this week–I've been vegging out and enjoying the bye too much to start thinking now. I rediscovered some old hobbies (such as photography), and fell completely out of touch with football. It felt good to decompress. Anyway, I guess what I am saying is it's game week, but I still don't feel like thinking about football. At least not critically or with much care. I'll have to have something ignite that emotion, such as a bad loss or good win versus Cal.
Being completely honest, I'm more curious to see if USC can knock off Oregon.
Speaking of Oregon, I'm not sure how or why Auburn jumped them, but they're going to have another ESPN Gameday love fest going for them–I'm surprised their recruiting class isn't better than it is.
As for the Beavs, the best I've got is this: versus Washington, I saw Quizz run with fire for the first time this season. He says we'll see a new Quizz in the second half. Begs the question, why didn't we see that guy in the first half? Anyway, coupled with a bye and the home field advantage, I like the Beav's chances. However, I've been wrong on my last two picks and lost all my confidence in that department, so who knows. People make a lot about Cal being Jekyll & Hyde. Well, so are our men. I don't know who is showing up for either squad, so why not go with the home team?
Give me your opinions. On anything. The game, the new basketball uniforms, the Pac-12 alignment, etc. I'm sleepy, and I want to be the passenger.
That's all I've got.

I think this game is going to be a blow out… not sure who wins it though. I just wish it was later in the day to get in some more tailgating.
Also just bought the weekend game pack for BBall. recommend it to everyone it is a pretty decent values. Basketball will be fun because expectations are so low that it should be a good atmosphere if we break .500.
Are expectations still low? I expect at least an NIT invitation this year. Expectations have to be raised at some point, and after a few years for Robinson’s recruits to settle in now is that time. No?
I suppose they have risen a bit. I think a NIT is a very reachable goal for these guys. With Cunningham and Starks we should have a couple of guys that can really push the ball and hopefully Nelson will add into that mix (not sure what his deal is). I am not sure what are bigs are doing though. I have always loved Burton’s game, but it seems like he is inconsistent at times. Hopefully he continues to get into better shape. I don’t know who else is going to be actually playing in the post. We’ll see… I guess there is still potential for disappointment with how young the team is but I guess with Basketball you are going to get at least some wins, plus the view is better.
WOW… sorry for not proof reading. That is borderline nonsense.
I’ll be at the game this weekend with absolutely no idea what to expect from either team, except I do think Cal will be able to run well.
I think that’s one thing that’s taking the interest out of this year’s squad – not knowing what to expect from the players, but not expecting the coaching staff to proactively manage improvement. They worked on technique last week, which the cynic in me says that means brandon hardin runs down the field next to a reciever and watches him catch a pass for a big gain…
Sounds like the students are excited for the game anyway.
OSU Defense: 119th out of 120. Wow.
Beaver rank in top 10 worst recruiting in 2010:
http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1143525
If it wasn’t for the fact my dad had Beaver Fan stamped on my birth certificate when I was born I’d find another team to root for… but looks like more of the same down the road…. sucks!
And I also read Riley stayed at home this bye (recruiting week) to game plan.
Maybe he is taking over offensive calling or maybe he just doesn’t get how important recruiting is.
I think Riley stayed home cause he felt that he could do more good at this time in the season to prepare for the team he is about to face. I say that’s smart considering how he utilized the last BYE week we had by leaving for recruiting purposes. Game plan over recruiting at this point in the season is the smarter decision…especially if you want to plan to win the game and not “be happy just to be here”. Seems like Riley really wants to go places, but his staff isn’t doing their job to be where Riley is…so maybe Riley will think about getting a new coordinator in the next few years who will have a great game plan and stick to the game plan. I’ve never been a coach, but mainly it’s choosing a bunch of plays that you feel will work against your opponent…good for Riley IMO.
http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=superstitions-can-make-you
Interesting study on what confidence and beliefs can have on player outcomes. Page 2 really tells how crucial beliefs are on self-efficacy. One more reason why an early easy schedule allows teams to build winning momentum.
And I believe the reason we didn’t see Quizz the first half was mostly likely due to the expansion of his family with a daughter named Channing born the night of the TCU game. My sources said that he doesn’t talk to the mother much and wasn’t told about the birth until after the game. Cute kid though. Lots of hair!
http://www.osubeavers.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/rodgers_jacquizz00.html
Maybe that should be Langsdorf’s excuse for a poor first half as well?
I’m not convinced lucky charms are superstition. There’s a lot of evidence that
things like “remote viewing” and inverse relationships between objects have validity. Quantum sciences, as I’m sure you know, force you to take a second look at the absurd.
That being said, I think a lot of (positive) results are via placebo and the wiring/working of the mind. Success reinforces positive thoughts, breeds further success etc. We all know this from our own lives, though.
Haven’t seen the new basketball jerseys. Pretty stoked for the team in general though; lots of young talent running the team makes for excitement, and shooting for the NIT is about the lowest goal we should expect to accomplish.
As for the football team, who knows with this group. It’s scary how similar we are to Cal in that way.
Auburn jumped UO because UO hasn’t played anybody. They beat #9 Stanford, and then nobody anywhere near as good since, plus super-cupcakes on their noncon. Auburn beat #6, and plays in the SEC.
Really, the question is; why WOULD Oregon be #1? Wait till they play more than one good (not great) team before anointing them.

check out this article Angry. I think you will appreciate it. It is about Texas and their struggles. I find a few parallels to the Beavs. Texas is a team with even more talent that is playing with even less passion than Oregon State.
Some awesome Mac Brown Quotes:
“I mean [play] with passion, fun and excitement. It’s all about confidence and passion. … I can handle a loss if we are playing with passion. I can’t if we’re not”
[…]he said losing makes it difficult for him to trust that his assistant coaches are doing a good job. Brown didn’t back off that assessment Monday.
“I told them if one of your guys is playing bad, I can change them. If three of your guys are playing bad, I change you,” Brown said. “I am ready to play each week.”
So great… please hire this man.
lol… Maybe Riley could move to OC and Brown could take over as head coach. I am sure everyone in Oregon would be fine with OSU offering him 10 million a year…. just raise tuition.
I do not know that passion makes up for the lack of talent on the defense for the Beavers. I think I am seeing a plain and simple talent gap this year. Certain starters not fast enough, not strong enough or smart enough to stop average to good D-1 offenses on a consistent basis. Am I off base with that perception? My concern is if this starts to happen on the other side of the ball in 2-3 years…..then what? OSU becomes the next Kansas?
They actually played with some fire versus Washington–problem is once again it took them half a game before doing so.
I think you’re correct. Beavs have Pac-10 caliber talent at skill positions on offense (they could actually start for other Pac-10 teams), Big Sky offensive lineman, and a WAC-y defense.
Assuming Akuna and Doctor pan out, some of the greyshirts actually qualify and show up, I think the DT’s and LB’s could be much closer to what we enjoyed pre-2007.
The lack of “identity,” passion, and preparedness is primarily on the coaching staff in my opinion. As far as preparing players, I maintain that OSU is getting out-coached in the offseason, and that is having a greater effect than the “X’s and O’s” within the 60 minutes of game time. The latter is important too, but the former is the greater limiting factor in determining how successful OSU is with the players it recruits.
What’s the old saying about a good coach – “He could beat you with his players, or he could beat you with yours.” If Riley and staff switched places with Peterson and staff at BSU for example, I’d expect Peterson to win with OSU’s players.
I’ve had that same thought about Peterson while watching games. I think it’s wrong, though, because Peterson recruits guys with true chips on their shoulder who play mean and emotional (reminds me of the Cobra Kai from Karate Kid…haha).
The 2000 OSU squad had more in common with Peterson’s teams than what OSU is currently.
Unless your argument is he coaches that emotional/mean streak, but it’s just hard for me to imagine Peterson getting a guy like Pankey to play the Boise State way. Then again, Hitler turned upstanding citizens into killing machines, so it appears that once you’re part of a system, thought becomes malleable, and all bets are off.
I think what is going on at Boise, and why they seem so intense, is that they only have to do it for one or two games per season. It skews reality a bit and makes any comparison very difficult.
My argument is not just that Peterson coaches emotional/mean streak; but rather that he:
1) Knows what identity he wants in a team, communicates it to them, and forms it in the off-season. He doesn’t wait to find it in October;
2) Peterson coaches discipline. I think you would agree that he doesn’t have the fastest or best LB’s in the west, but they play with discipline, tackle well, and can have a game where they go out and hold someone like Blount to negative yardage.
Also, the “trick” plays that some are critical of require discipline to execute; they may be high risk/reward, but they seem to consistently pull them off when they need to. You can’t do that without disciplined practices. Also, another reason I don’t mind “trick” plays, is they still require performance of the fundamentals – blocking for instance.
3)finds roles for team members to keep them motivated, interested, and involved during the week and during the game. BSU probably doesn’t have Pac-10 quality depth anymore than OSU, but Peterson provides roles to even the inexperienced physical talent he does get. Think of more strategic, tactical uses of players like Wheaton last year, or “rover roles” for players like Hardin, Collins when they weren’t/aren’t getting much reps otherwise. I may be wrong, but OSU seems slow to do that; if someone’s buried on the depth chart, they don’t get opportunties. Wouldn’t that, even implicitly, affect how they practice? James Rodgers, in his freshman year, is probably the most clear exception to this.
Finally, I’m not sure that BSU “only have to get up for one or two games per year.” They have to perform at a high level all year, or those one or two early season non-conference games mean nothing. Wouldn’t we like to see OSU be able to get up for their non-conference games?
BSU has performed well consistently for a long time; the last real pratfall I can think of is their blowout loss to Georgia; hell Riley pulls one or two of those annually (e.g Louisville). I would contribute this consistency to discipline – not the punitive kind, but the kind that requires players to adhere to Peterson’s identity and regimen for the program.
Peterson preaches discipline…man, I laughed hard at that.
2 years ago, one of his players gets punched after taunting following a win.
This year, how many late hits and illegal hits did they put on us?
That’s not discipline. I’m fine for giving the guy credit he deserves, but don’t make stuff up to give him more credit.
I think a lot of it has to do with passion and intensity. I mean Keith freaking Pankey chased down Locker from behind to make a shoe string tackle. He is widely regarded one of the weak links (and I agree) but he is still capable of running down Jake Locker so I think if this group can come together as a unit and find some fire they can be a upper-middle of the Pac-10 defense.
Cal is weird, I read them either of two ways. All their wins are at home, so maybe they play well at home.
Or, it so happens, all the bad teams on Cal schedule have played at Cal, while all the games against teams with winning schedules has been on the road. All of which have been losses and may blow-outs. So, maybe they are just a mediocre team who can’t travel well.
Cal has the same problem with lack of motivation from Tedford that the Beavs have with Riley.
Oregon State, meh, I don’t care much anymore. I’m more excited to see what Oregon and Utah can do this year.
Some discussion on pure-orange.net about Reser Phase 3 and how many seats would be gained with a new west side. I don’t have exact numbers but it is my firm belief that if we built a new west side, DeCarolis would make sure we added 3500 seats minimum. That would take us over 49K. I think he prefers 50K with a new west side and would target that. If we add the 2nd level to the South endzone that will take us between 55-56K seats and my bet is it would end up 55,564 or some weird number.
I personally believe they will do just the new west grandstand first, but I TRULY BELIEVE that with a good amount of Valley View like pricing for the upper reaches that Beaver Nation can support 56K and I think cost wise and project wise it might make sense to do it all at once. The crews will have to work feverishly and would get some OT but the sooner we get to atleast 55K seats the sooner we are an awesome destination for a conference championship game. I think this would boost morale and give OS Football a sustainable boost in prestige and recruiting and we could increase our odds of more North championships!
It would be cool to refine the stadium and make it nicer, lord knows it needs some work. But, it’s hard to justify given the attendance numbers the last few seasons. A lot of the stadium money comes from donations, so the increased revenue won’t matter much with that. The Beavers need to tap the Portland market more–I really think they’d benefit from building an extension campus up there, especially if it’s for advanced study in something they don’t currently offer (e.g. law).
Portland is a good engine to tap into. In regards to ticket sales, I expect 99% of games from here on out to be sellouts. All it took was them not being so stubborn about pricing. Valley View has brought new younger season ticket holders. If they had it the past few years we would have had a large sellout percentage then as well. As long as we get a new west side and 50K seats around 2014 I will be satisfied. 55-56K though, with our finished horseshoe, I just think will help us compete better with the Ducks and Dawgs who are about to have a MAJOR upgrade of Husky stadium. You have to take yourself seriously before anyone else will. GO BEAVS!
Again, I’m going to bore and befuddle everyone with my theory that Corvallis (the nice, beautiful, quaint town as it is) is not a greatest place for the ‘other’ big school. Salem would be best in my book. It has a larger population, is closer to Portland, and further from Eugene. I think they’d pull just plain old walk ups better. Many of the big time schools are in towns more like Salem, or Eugene. Sure there are some tiny town schools, but I look at Eugene, I look at Lincoln (Nebraska)…also, State Capitals are nice…usually not the biggest city in the state, but large enough.
I get poo poo’d on this, but I just feel it. If OSU was in Salem, they would have better attendance, maybe even larger fan base? More interest and demand for product, yet still benefitting from a ‘small town’ feel.
Just sayin’. Again.
UO not only has a larger population to draw from Lane County, but they wisely began marketing in the Portland market years ago. They also appeal to a broader fan base, and one that is probably more diverse in age classes.
At OSU games I am sometimes amazed by the number of older fans, and I am dissapointed, but unsurprised, when those same fans don’t want to stand up and cheer, and don’t want others to do it either. OSU’s fans just don’t seem as passionate about the game experience. I remember going around Corvallis after OSU beat #3 USC. You’d have had no idea OSU just pulled off a big upset of a highly ranked team. It was strange and underwhelming.
I wonder what is the distribution of OSU’s alumni in Oregon? How many in the Willamette Valley, how many east of the Cascades?
Doing satellite schools in bigger town would not be unwise but I doubt that would be for the purpose of getting more recruits. OSU is never going to move from Corvallis so what do you do to bring in the crowds and the recruits…
Just win baby win!
Not to mention Corvallis does not, currently, have the infrastructure to support a larger fan base.
The hotel accomodations here are woefully inadequate, and don’t get me started on the the streets in town and highways leading to Corvallis.
Or game parking…I know family that don’t go just because of the hastle. My Grandpa is 90, he doesn’t want to deal with that shit.
We always need to lose a conference game before we get it going…just about the time the fan base loses hope. Jaq. sounds like he’s finally stepping up as a leader and demanding more out of everyone around him. We’re going to come out and play with attitude and knock the shit ouf of cal.
I believe that this year’s team lacks talent and depth in key places where we have been fortunate to have quality depth the last couple of years. Notably on the offensive and defensive lines.
Offense- I used to not have a problem with the walk-ons on the o-line, thinking that they were athletic enough and just lacked size and strength, which would come with time. However, inexplicably, they seem to have regressed this year even though many are 2nd year starters and have another year in the system, and strength and conditioning program. Also, coach Cavanaugh is a heck of a coach, thus, the only logical conclusion I can reach is that since they aren’t getting the job done, and are arguably worse than last year, the unit as a whole has limited upside and lacks quality talent.
Defense- clearly there is a lack of talent and depth in the key positions that make Banker’s scheme effective. As I understand his defense, his scheme is predicated on defensive tackles that can occupy space in the middle, consistent pressure and disruption from the ends, quick (often undersized) linebackers that can fly around and cover space, and DBs who are physical and can disrupt receivers at the line of scrimmage, buying time for DE’s to pressure the QB in passing situations. Elite DE’s can hide a lot of deficiencies elsewhere on defense because of the amount of disruption they can create in the backfield. Clearly Miller and Henry are not getting it done, and the rest of our starting front seven (outisde of Paea and Olander) are brutal this year. Losing Pahaului (sp?) was catastrophic. Pankey’s injury was also catastrophic because he is only 9 months removed from an achilles tear, yet is starting and getting the majority of reps at OLB. Pankey is trying really hard, but he simply does not have the speed or explosiveness necessary to execute Banker’s scheme.
As for the coaching- I actually think that our coaches are pretty darn good. Riley’s offensive scheme is a thing of beauty when its clicking on all cylinders. Banker’s scheme, while undoubtedly archaic, is also functional and works good enough when you have the right athletes. Therein lies the problem. All of these guys can coach, and in fact they do a heck of a job milking everything they can from the guys they have. The problem is, the guys we have just aren’t athletic enough to take us to the next level. As long as we continue to rank near the bottom of the league in recruiting, our ceiling will be limited.
I would argue that the biggest reason for Oregon’s success this year and last is the consistent, increased quality of recruits over the last four or five years. Chip Kelly’s offense is great and all, but their defense coordinator is the same one that sucked forever. The biggest difference is that their players on both sides of the ball are simply better than everybody elses that they’ve played.
I think Riley sums it up well. He was asked about the defense ranking second to last.
“I don’t know that we’ll ever jump up to the top of the conference like we’ve been before but what our goal is, is just to get better with it, and it’s important that the players don’t dwell on this”
I hope his lack of faith in the team motivates him to fight with the bigger schools for better recruits, or that new big stadium will be kind of empty.
We have had good defenses before. Not having confidence in recruiting better means you need new recruiters or a new defensive coordinator. Our D is 2nd worse in FBS!!!!!!! How can you possibly keep your job doing that? Why should you. I could come in and basically guarantee I could do better with next to no experience because it is ONLY HUMANLY POSSIBLE for even the dumbest person on the planet to do just one spot worse. My cat could do better than Banker based on his results. Riley should grow a pair and tell Banker he either hits some benchmarks or he is gone next year. We can do much better and should not wait! CHANGE IS GOOD, especially for our D!!
Probably just rumor, but I hear whispers that Oregon is looking into finishing the other side of Autzen very soon and plans are underway to bring the count to 70k. With 10 years of consecutive sell-outs, and recent bowl money – I am sure expansion has to be a consideration.
With new TV money coming, it would be nice to see OSU get to 56k.
Here’s a link stating that Phase 3 is expected to happen in 2014! So I’m thinking that means AFTER the 2013 season they will be doing construction….Which means, After the last home game which will be before the Civil War(If they keep the Civil War at the end of the season! Which I hope they do! History is where Champions are made!)
http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM83MH_Reser_Stadium_Corvallis_Oregon
Uh oh, another walk-on takes the field. This is starting to feel like the Marshall Thundering Herd circa 1970.
“Snapper Marcus Perry (wrist) didn’t dress, and we note this because Perry has been almost perfect since he stepped on campus.
With No. 57 out, the snapping duties fell to walk-on freshman Michael Morovick.”
I don’t have a problem with a walk-on long snapper. I mean if he can snap the ball decent then it saves a scholarship for someone else. But if that ball goes sailing over the punter or kickers head it might be a different story. Marcus Perry has been solid for us.
I saw that note also. Article did not make a big deal out of it, but those kind of changes can make or break ball games.
Angry,
I’m not too worried about a walk-on taking over for long snaps. as long as he gets the ball to the Punters hands just as fast or faster than Marcus, then we’ll be fine in the punting game, but any slower, and I fear a block punt or 2 may happen. As far as the field goals go, I’m definitely not worried about that until I see his first snap after we score a TD. I was the long snapper for my high school team from freshman, all the way to my senior year. (freshman team, JV team, and Varsity my senior year.) There were better guys my soph. and jr. year, so I didn’t start in Varsity games there, but my Senior year, I beat out about 3 different guys because my snap was fast. I actually thought about going to college as a long snapper, but I feared that I didn’t have the size, nor the speed. My point is, my senior year, I only made 3 huge mistakes. 1) I short snapped on a punt, but the ball skipped on the ground to the punter and the punter picked it up and punted his best punt of the season according to my dad. 2) I was snapping for the go ahead extra point and snapped the ball well over my holder and kickers head.(we eventually won that game, but i was so nervous that my nerves got the best of me) 3) I had to run in for a punt at the last minute cause I wasn’t paying attention to the game. It was the last game of the season, but I didn’t lose my spot because of that for the rest of the game, but I still remember those 3 key mistakes more so than when I snapped the winning field goal for our only win of the season that year. We were a horrible team, but we never had a blocked punt nor field goal….so that’s why i was thinking I could of gone to college somewhere. I still have my snaps, but I am well out of shape. If I got into shape a bit…perhaps I could play at Western Oregon as a walk on for a year or 2 since I have eligibility left.
Daddy Warbucks is resigning from CEO of Nike!!! This is HUGE!!! He will no longer be getting an income from NIKE and so the time has come where Phil Knight will soon be unable to donate Millions $ to UofO!!! This is great news!!!

Ummm… ok?
I don’t know if you noticed the article you linked was dated six years ago. And though he stepped down as CEO, he remained as chairman. Remember that he is still the majority owner of a multi-billion dollar corporation.
I don’t think the marketing of UO would allow an orange and black tee shirt as the backdrop for a UO article these days.
Btw… we won the Civil War the day after that article was published. If I recall correctly, tha
Daddy Phil will be around for a long time.
This forum is too touchy sometimes. It deleted the part of my comment about Bill Swancutt destroying the Ducks.
That was a totally appropriate move Jack – even-though I have no idea what you said that was removed.
I didn’t delete anything.
No, this forum responds strangely to my touch pad sometimes. In this instance, it decided to block and delete half a paragraph as I was submitting. I don’t know why it does it on this site and no others. I’ve checked my touch settings, and they seem ok.
Weird. Does anyone else have this problem?
Postings here lately seem to be trending towards the pessimistic and “half-empty” variety. Let me provide a contrarian view.
I’m not giving up on this season. Not at all. Sure, when James Rodgers went down it was bad news. And when Joe Halahuni dropped that last pass in OT 2 and we lost to Washington it was more bad news.
Still, we are currently one of only two PAC-10 teams (the other being the Ducks) to control its own destiny regarding the Rose Bowl. For OSU, as for the Ducks, “all” we need to do is win out.
Of course it will be hard to win out. But not impossible.
We will be favored to win this Saturday against Cal at Reser. Then we will be favored away against UCLA. And then favored again at Reser against Washington State. If we just take care of business, OSU should be 5-1 going into the last three games.
Okay, sure, then it gets harder. Our last three games are USC (home), Stanford (away), and the Ducks (home). But by then, we should be playing our best football. If the Beavs get a few lucky breaks — and/or USC, Stanford, and the Ducks get a few bad breaks — anything could happen. Crazier things certainly occur in college football all the time.
Will the Beavs make the Rose Bowl this year? Probably not. But we still have a genuine shot.
Meanwhile, I’m already getting excited about next season (assuming James Rodgers returns in good health). The Beavers’ offense next year (with a more experienced Ryan Katz at QB) will boast an amazing array of weapons (Quizz, James, Wheaton, Halahuni). The Beavs should be truly explosive and fun to watch.
Not saying life is perfect in Beaverland. But it really could be a heck of a lot worse. C’mon guys — cheer up!
I think most everyone on this site is a fan. We get butterflys when the game is close. We get extremely nervous in double overtime games. Just ask Angry. I made a post earlier that Riley said he doesn’t expect the team to rise to the top of the conference as they had in the past few years. And that the team shouldn’t let that “fact” get them down. That was from Olive a couple days ago. I certainly would like to see them dig deep and win out. I thought they were going to get killed by USC in 08, so I have hope.
SOME GOOD NEWS!! Look for some Pac-12 basketball tourneys in Portland every 4th year!! This will be a sellout and let Portlanders root for the Beavs and Ducks to try to win the Pac-12! The Pac-12 owes us for getting the shortest stick in regards to missing games in LA every year and this is the way I always hoped they could atleast make it up to us a little! We deserve that in the spirit of making this conference great for everyone..I think there is a HIGH chance it happens!

Quizz tells media his team lacks killer instinct and when Riley was asked about it he sounded as political as anyone running for office these days. Check it at:

Scares me for this Saturday, a game we should win.
That’s really interesting–pretty much things we’ve been writing here. I think a teammate calling guys out will have a bigger impact than me doing so. I expect some emotion this week after reading that.
Riley’s answer was obviously a skirt around the elephant in the room.
Question is will Riley wake-up and realize he isn’t putting that killer instinct into the team or will he scold Quizz for saying that out loud possibly taking away Quizz’s killer instinct?
Yeah, it’s super interesting.
I think Riley knows Quizz is right, but his response toward the players being called out is nurturing. Probably a good strategy. You don’t want bruised egos. And you do want someone to light a fire under these guys. I think this played out well.
In another article another player agreed with Quizz, maybe they’ll “play like their hair’s on fire” this weekend, or some other sports cliche….
Angry, don’t you think that is the problem Riley has… nurturing when he should be licking some butts and maybe be the one calling out his guys.
It is amazing to me how often this blog is right on in identifying the problems and how right on the solutions suggested are.
Too bad the AD, Riley, and other coaches don’t subscribe… I know it seems negative a lot of times but if you just pull back the defense mechanism and read here you will see what many see as obvious problems keeping us from the Rose Bowl.
With that said I will be thrilled beyond bladder control if they can win out and go to the big game this year.
In general he should be tougher, but in this case Quizz assumed that role, so his job would be to nurture the egos that Quizz bruised. Ideally, what you would like to see is the head coach make the original comment so a player doesn’t have to. People criticize this blog for this and that…well, the players themselves are now criticizing the same things. It’s interesting how things, in general, pan out of you’re just honest.
LOL! I meant kicking not licking… LOL!
Should be another full and loud house tomorrow. Would be nice to win by more than a touchdown.
Angry,
What is your prediction for the final score in this one? I think Eggers is close with 30-24.
I honestly have no feel for this game. I’m given a Beav team that yields 500 yards per and a Cal team that can easily take those (and more), but sometimes chooses not to. Quizz is fired up and called out the underachieving overachievers , which leads me to believe the Beavs play mad and win. If that happens, 8 points seems right. 38-30, with Cal tacking on late TDs to make it respectable. These teams are so schizo, though; watch it be a 3-0 final.
Is it going to rain up in Corvallis Saturday. I’m in LA and it looks like it might rain on the Usc / yucks game. That could slow down the yucks! Never ever say this but go Trojans.
