      AB right again!
“KJ Harrison has pop. I project him middle of the lineup.” I also had Luke as the best freshman pitcher. He looks (sounds) great so far. I think this guy could win 10+
Carey is another guy I like. I’m higher on all them more than Gillette, who I think was the highest draft pick of all them. Gillette will take a year to develop I expect .260ish range for him this year.

Still not a fan of this Casey lineup, though, it’s better than the past 2.

Beav’s pitching has been phenomenal through 2.5 games.

Are Northwestern, Michigan State, or New Mexico any good this year?

New Mexico is supposed to challenge for a regional berth this year. They’ve been a consistent regional team for a while prior to last year. They’re decent. NW isn’t and Michigan State is probably the best of the 3. MSU has a pretty solid offense. I’d consider wins over MSU and NM to be quality wins

UNM won the mountain west conference last year but did not win the conference tournament and were left out of the regionals. They’re solid and have been for the last few years. Northwestern went 19-33 last year and lost all 3 games in Surprise this weekend. They blow. Meechicken St went 31-26 last year, beat the Beavs early in the season and lost to eventual champion Indiana in the semis of the B1G tournament. They’re probably an upper tier B1G program but in all honesty the B1G conference in baseball is average and they usually only get 1 team into the regionals

Yep, these guys aren’t going to score 6 runs. Casey and crew have a big hump to get over. All the offense gets in their half is a two out walk.

Went to the hoops game yesterday.. Aside from our lack of depth killing us the biggest takeaway was I had several Trojan fans strike up convos regarding Riley…

They were shocked after hearing me say that his departure was welcomed by most of our fan base. These were older SC boosters and their take was Riley was a “good coach”. When I said he lost it the last few years they seemed to get it. I told them his barometer for being a good coach pretty much aligned with our ability to beat USC.. And We haven’t been close the last few tries

Wright injured an ankle late in the victory and had to be helped off the court by two teammates. He immediately went to the locker room, but returned minutes later. Moments after, Wright checked back into the game. He is scheduled to be evaluated Monday, but Krystkowiak does not expect him to miss any time.

“That was troubling for sure. The life in the building was sucked out of there for a minute,” Krystkowiak said.

Also noteworthy, two teams sliding in opposite directions. A few weeks ago, the Cal game next week looked like the easier of the two as they were in a free fall and Stanford was rolling along. Now, the opposite is true. Stanford is sliding and Cal despite losing to Utah Sunday, is surging. Cal got the road split, while Stanford dropped both games on the road this weekend

update on the ladies pac-12 hoops. USC upsets Cal on the road 65-54. 2 game lead with 4 games to play. If they take care of business on the road at Colorado and Utah next weekend, they would clinch at least a share of the Pac-12 title. Way to go gals!

since they swept ASU, Cal and Stanford play each other twice next weekend, theoretically they could clinch if they sweep on the road next weekend. If Cal and Stanford split, they’re both eliminated. ASU plays UCLA and USC on the road. Not that it matters since the ladies swept them

I was wondering about a couple things so far…. 1- what is the situation with Jake Thompson? Also, Michael Gretler seems to have great high school stats, better than Donahue. What position does he play? Can he play third and put Hamilton at second? Wasn’t Hamilton a natural second sacker anyway? Being a college pitcher myself (many years ago) I can’t believe the quick hook for a walk but that is Casey and Yeskie so the fellas have to know that when they get the chance, THROW STRIKES. It’s not that hard.

Probably not scoring 6, but if the pen can hold, maybe they get 5-5 and win in extras. Something like that. Maybe NM melts down and makers errors. 3 runs isn’t a huge deal this early. There is time to chip away. But it’s a probably loss for sure.

Infielders are taught to imagine the play before hand and know where they are going. Also to factor in baserunner speed. Like you said, without seeing it who knows, but if the ball is hit hard and the runner on 3rd average speed, go home. Otherwise try for 2. It’s a hard decision to make split second, and maybe that’s the lack of experience there, but hell, I was taught that at the HS level it should be engrained in these guys by now.

I’m beginning to think this team is going to be rough. One of those years when they get pitching they get no hitting, when they get hitting they get no pitching, when they get both they get no defense, etc. It’s way early, but I’m just getting that sense…that things are not going to come together. I want to wait to watch them, though. Looks like the first video is Feb 27th.

Beavs has a lot of automatic outs in the lineup. Casey needs to shake the lineup up. He’s done a poor job so far.

It’s frustrating not being able to see the at bats. With the lack of description on the radio it is hard to tell if guys are actually going to be automatic outs or they are having decent at bats but not getting the results.

          True.
We know Morrison can’t hit. He’s okay as a 9 guy due to high OBP and decent fielding. But they really need better hitters overall. I think moving Ice to 1 helps a lot. Dude had a .400 OBP last year. You suddenly shift everyone else down a slot. Not sure why he insists on Hendrix 1. Hendrix should be 2 or 3 (probably 2 on this team) to drive in runs or get on for 3 and 4. By making that simple adjustment you move the entire lineup one slot down and suddenly it’s not as terrible. I’d also take a shot starting Gillette more because he could, in theory, be a 5 or 6 hitter. Gabe Clark can’t hit pac-12 pitching, so best to find out sooner rather than later how good Gillette can be.

I’m not on that wagon yet. Would it surprise me if you are correct and they do? Not at all. Pat Casey is a helluva coach, this team has a lot of young talent. I also don’t remember the last time the Beavs were left out of the regional field. But it wouldn’t surprise me to see them not make the tournament. Long ways to go until June. 4 games in and I honestly don’t have a feel for this team yet. They’ve struggled offensively but are still .500. KJ Harrison has some power. Need to put guys ahead of him that can get on base. It’s customary for Casey to toy with his lineups early in the season before the Pac-12 schedule starts to find the most consistent one

and you are correct about the Pac-12. It looks to be pretty deep this year. Another reason I’m uncertain at this point. UCLA, ASU and yes Oregon are pretty good to very good. Stanford will be up there as well. I see USC and Arizona being better this year too. Washington will slide back and WSU, Cal and Utah should be the bottom feeders.

The unbelievable starting pitching last year masked a pretty bad bullpen. Scott S was the only reliable guy last year. Reser pitched well the first part of the year and then came back to earth.
Whiffing on Eden was huge. He seemed to be the type of recruit that could come in and be very good from the jump. So now we have one very good starter and question marks coupled with another shaky bullpen. If we finish in the upper half of the PAC I will be amazed. The three frosh who started last year have to pick it up at the plate or this year will be brutal.

Sounds like David Moore is no longer a target.

“I was in contact with multiple coaches multiple times a week and they were really interested in me. The interest was mutual,” he explained. “They were definitely in the lead. It wasn’t a landslide, but if someone said I had to commit that day, that’s who I would’ve committed to. I wish I could tell you what happened. They just kind of fell off, stopped recruiting me, I guess.”

In the hopes of patching up the relationship, Moore insists he reached out to multiple Beavers coaches, but has yet to receive a response.

“I’ve tried to reach out to them to see what’s up – Coach (Kevin) McGiven and Coach (Dave) Baldwin. I haven’t even gotten Coach Baldwin’s new number yet. I asked him if I could have his new number to see what was going on. No response,” he said. “They’ve offered these other quarterbacks and haven’t said anything to me in a couple of weeks.”

Since there are few QBs in this class, I expect him to get drafted and then spend a few years as a backup in the NFL.

said it before; I’ll say it again: the Mannion era was a competitive dead-end. The Beavs would have been better in 2011 with Katz; Vaz was better in 2012 (which Riley, who loved Mannion, all but admitted by starting Cody in the Alamo Bowl), and Vanderveen and/or Del Rio would have done as well and certainly no worse than Mannion the last two years, but would have experience going into 2015

NFL scouts don’t go off of stats or win records. They’ll look at his film and his workouts. Mannion probably looks closer to an NFL QB than Canfield. Canfield just didn’t have the arm needed.

Nothing wrong with being a bench warmer! It still means you’re one of the best 64 (if second string) or 96 (if third string) QBs on the planet. Plus, you could pay me $480,000 a year to be the third string QB for two years and I wouldn’t complain…

Mannion was trained in high school by professional guru coaches. Riley and staff saw his advanced skills and projected future growth. Two problems. He had already been trained and was close to his upper limit before setting foot on campus. Second, Riley and staff never took the time to train him in the area he was and is weakest. Speed reading, speed throwing and speed execution. The NFL game has evolved. But even if you think it hasn’t changed since the Riley/San Diego era, Riley was never nimble enough to catch on to the speed of the game and decision making required in 2000. Much like Mooch in Green Bay with Farve, Riley has always been a QB whisperer. His job was to pump up the self esteem of the starting qb, and give the qb the confidence to succeed. Very important indeed. But without skill and technique development at the same time, and without time management training ( in addition to clock management training), self esteem development will only get you so far.

I know I’m a couple days early on this one, but despite the fact the Beavs are undefeated at home this season I am expecting the Beavs to not be getting any respect from the officials Thursday night. Marching orders have come down from upon high to protect the two conference heavyweights so they may battle it out for the conference championship the following weekend in Salt Lake City. Hope I’m wrong but from the officiating I have seen lately, Beavs don’t seem to get much respect.

Wouldn’t be surprised. Seemed to be that way last year too when Arizona came to play at Gill. I’m not expecting a win, I’m hoping for a win, and I am looking forward to the game.

When you think of our team running out of gas, Olaf being in a slump even at home, Langston is feast or ehh, and the anti home cooking, I really don’t think we’ll get this one. But I think we definitely get Colorado. I’d be shocked if they beat us at home.

Krystkowiak basically is the model for our team in 3 years to be honest. Both he and Tinkle are from the Mike Montgomery/Montana coaching tree, and both have top ten efficiency defenses, so I’m excited to see a time machine glance at our own team. We might play a bit faster in our more talented years, but overall it will look somewhat similar.

There is a reason we are being watched and controlled. That reason has everything to do with money and economic power… and who has both.

I think it only makes sense to seek out and identify structures of authority, hierarchy, and domination in every aspect of life, and to challenge them; unless a justification for them can be given, they are illegitimate, and should be dismantled, to increase the scope of human freedom.

          Movies?

Corporatism is a money-grab, a fundamental power shift from democracy to statism. In order to institute it, one must first break down the protections and barriers instituted by their better educated, wiser forebears. The best way to do that is to dumb down the people and propagandize them to death with (ironic that Ayn Rand was quoted above given Greenspan did just this) cries that no taxation and zero government oversight of business and trade are egalitarian. In fact, capitalism and a truly free market are borne of government itself. It is given protections and rules that make the market egalitarian. Zero protections or rules leads to oligopoly and then eventually to monopoly. So when all these regulations and favorable tax laws came to pass, that was the cue for the wolves to short shrift the grift.

But then they had to make sure they could keep it all to themselves. So why not do what the US has always done to support the realpolitick faction? Why not create yet another bogeyman? But war, while great for profit, is finite. Even the war on drugs is almost over (so they’ll need to find another reason to subjugate those populations soon). Let’s call the next one a war on terror. And let’s create a new bureaucracy (with nepotisms galore) to oversee that war. The Oligopoly can sit in their air-conditioned DC offices and direct their foot soldiers to go here and there and anywhere in the world in the name of secrecy.

Voila! We have solved how to keep the flow of wealth moving upward.

Anyway, the take home message here is to protect yourself from the technology. Tech can be used for good or bad, as we know.

For searching, I am now using: https://search.disconnect.me/

Some people use Tor. Since it’s Navy technology, I’m not sure we can trust it, but it does provide protection to an extent greater than all popular browsers.

Be leaders, not followers. Educate yourself on which gadgets respect privacy and which do not (hint: the more “free” the platform the more they need to mine info to pay their bills, so Facebook, Google, twitter, etc are some of the worst offenders). Your privacy is paying their bills. Think about that. I also suggest reading the FB terms of service. They actually own anything you post. So if you’re a photographer, writer, etc posting your work, FB owns it.
