Another day, another O-live plagiarism

What’s the term for stealing an overall idea, but not necessarily verbatim like normal plagiarism?

Today we have this. Yeah, only been writing that for two years. No biggie.

Hello Connor, welcome to the blog, buddy.

It feels strange to be the lead Oregon State  op-ed writer. Especially without pay. But I can handle it.

Craig Robinson lives another day. He and Bob D met yesterday and no news means good news (for him). Next year should be very interesting with Scott Rueck dominating, Gill at sub 1k, and a starting roster full of sixth men. The silver lining is it will cement Bob D’s incompetence.

  1. Maybe you did inception on the beat writer’s brains 2 years ago and now it’s blossoming.

Re; Reuck vs Robinson. I think more credit is given to Rueck’s coaching than to the talent on his team. The talent on the women’s team vs their peers is much higher than the men’s team vs their peers.

Just read the bios of the women’s players vs the men’s bios. It’s no contest. 4 women’s players were top 100 recruits. Nearly all of the US players were name to all state teams. 4 have international experience. 5 players were state champs and Wiese and Weisner were named player of the year for their state classification.

On the men’s side, Nelson and Collier were top 100 recruits. It looks like only Reid won a state championship in high school. 2 were named to an all state team. 3 have international experience.

After looking through the bios closely things make a little more sense now. The talent on the men’s team is essentially an AAU team while the women’s is a collection of all state players. The women know how to win big games while few of the men have been there before.

    • Agreed.

Where was Ruth on that list? I know she was relatively new to the sport, but her size alone should have lifted her status as a PSA. And it certainly affects OSU’s game.

      • She would’ve been considered very raw out of high school. The development in her game is all Rueck. The same could be said for Cunningham for CR. Very raw and developed very nicely.

Luckily for the women, there are no early entries to the pros. Should be ranked next year.

    • People often described this years hoops team as “talented”, although there were only two 4 star recruits on the team. I’m not sure those same people would say that CR developed the talent, though. It’s a bit of double speak.

  2. Angry: This (subject to being ripped off by mainstream reporters) seems to be your destiny. That’s why so many of us follow and participate in this blog; it’s a form of clairvoyance. Take it for the compliment it is. The guys at oneclicksports post your stuff on their site regularly, which is
    good exponsure.

    • Two league wins is a stretch. One Coppin State, DePaul Akron or Hawai’i win, one UW win at home and two other league wins is more like it.

… and then probably one win in the Pac Tourney as well.

This from Craig Robinson’s agent is priceless: “He had Oregon State within two league wins of the NCAA Tournament.” Uh, no he did not

Cal had two more wins that Oregon St. didn’t make tourney. Also didn’t have crap nonconf sched and loses. Agents are funny.

  3. Just read the link from Conner. Not sure what he did wrong? He says he’s been receiving a “host of emails” on the topic, so he’s just using that topic in his piece. Could be some of the Angrybeavs readers are sending emails to Conner and this just happens to be a popular topic.

Doesn’t mean I don’t think Canzano has taken info from your blog to write pieces in the past. That has looked blatantly obvious at times.

  4. I think we should all be tooting our horn. I posted in here about Wynn getting reps in the backfield a few days after the game without mention in any post game write-ups, and then Schnell mentions it about 24 hours after my post.

    • I just don’t see a donor contributing that kind of money to get rid of a guy who is at least coaching this team to a .500 record. Who’s to say DeCarolis would be able to lure a more competent replacement? I don’t have faith in that happening.

I still think it’s time for CR to go, but I also don’t think anybody would be foolish enough to throw money at that problem, thinking it would be fixed. First they need to fix the guy who makes these bad hires.

  5. Have just heard CR good for another year… will be announced soon.

I guess the result is that I hope he’s here for a decade now. That would mean next year is worth watching.

You all will know my face as well. I’ll be the dude in the stands who isn’t friends or family.

  6. Seriously think that cutting him loose would be more of blow due to his brother-in-law. It shouldn’t factor in but I wouldn’t doubt it played a role in DeCarlis decision.

Next year could very well be unwatchable, it was almost that way this year. I don’t know who they could get in here after seeing the coaches since Ralph left, but you got to be able to coach AND get players. Maybe we could get a transfer or two, because next season they will have Cooke, Barton, Gomis, Reid, and Schoftenaar.
