  1. At the game. Coach walked by the fan section early on and gave a big smile and “go beavers!” To everyone.

UP has a lot of tall players it looks like. Could be interesting

    • Duvivier is playing better tonight than he’s been playing, he just can’t get a shot to fall. Reid just has zero clue offensively or defensively. Crazy how little depth this team has. If GPII isn’t doing a whole lot offensively the team cannot score.

  2. Yeah gp2 not doing anything hurts a lot. Coach is yelling at the starters “jogging back, jogging back”. The D is ten times better thsn last year already

  3. GP-2 has been sitting out for awhile. I didn’t see anything wrong with his game…..Portland is not going to let him score….his teamates are missing wide open looks. Duvivier needs to get a stroke pretty soon. Kind of an ugly shot.

    • Weird thing was last year in limited minutes he was a good shooter. 49.3% from the field and 45.2% from three. Surprised to see his percentages drop so much in more minutes. He looked much more confident last year. Very hesitant this year and looks to be lacking confidence in his game overall.

      • Maybe it’s just a slump, but on a team with limited options, he needs to find his shot again soon. Frustrating game, Beavers have had good looks, need to tighten up the perimeter defense.

  4. All duvivier does is dribble dribble pass. His D has been ok. But he cant shoot and seems to barely drive. Just not a threat at all.

  5. There are a few UP fqns in line for an autograph too(its a solid 30 people deep right now). Get your own legend! Or at least teach reid how to shoot FTs. Fair trade.

    • Ok State was, Beavs just aren’t playing near that level tonight. Olaf has hardly touched the ball in the 2nd half. Not a recipe for success. Need to run the offense through him right now.

    • Doubt it. He was at the games in Vegas and GPII played well there. He just isn’t playing well and Portland is playing him tight.

  6. Robbins and langston came to play! Reid is sad sitting on the bench. You can stay there until you learn at least one basketball skill!

  7. I’ve heard Reveno is a little bit annoyed by all of the attention with Tinkle and the Beavs in the media, he feels like this is one of the better Pilot teams and they get ignored. I guess if he loses, he’s got nothing to complain about.

    • Yeah he is. Crwzy series there. Good game so far. Had the winning possession but missed the shot. Still, 7 point favorites? Only if we keep playing reid and duv.

  8. Beavs need to run some stuff like that for Payton on a regular basis, I’d rather see him take that shot then Duvivier. He can score inside like his Dad.

    • The missed layups, Robbins taking three seconds off of the clock and shooting a fade away jumper……we’ve been programmed with CR to think this way…gives us a break!

      • Funny I just wrote that below (CR thing). I really think there’s something to that. Every team misses layups it’s all about effort plays in the end, and the beavs were getting tons of rebounds and hustle plays.

        • Tinkle threw his clipboard on Robbins shot…I bet Robbins doesn’t do that again. On a strategic note, they played much better with Duvivier out of the line up. I would guess that Tinkle took notice. I also understand that they have serious depth issues so Duvivier will have to play.

    • I was thinking exactly the same thing.

Down 7(?) at one point in the second half and finish with a win. How many blown leads did CR have last year alone. And did he have any come from behind wins?

      • Yep. He would go INTO second half with a nice lead and still fucking lose. Here the guys fought back and got the win. For effort and D, this is a much better team than last year. They lack in talent, and scoring punch, but maybe that can develop — figure out who can shoot and from where…. the UP team had that….

  9. First true road game, UP favored by 7.5, missed about 100 layups and still pulled out the victory. I am excited for the future under Tinkle. CR would have lost this game by about 20.

  10. That was enjoyable to watch. I think some of you have scars from CR (and maybe even MR) because you’re predicting loses when the team wasn’t showing any signs they quit or couldn’t win it. I saw the opposite…dudes trying really hard and wanting it. I’m not saying I knew they’d win, but I didn’t see any reason to think it was over. Have some faith in these guys because they’re earning it with the effort.

  11. That Connor dude over at the boycotted fish wrap predicted 5 wins for the entire season! I’m going to say it….how can all of these journalists in Oregon be so fucking stupid and not understand poor or even mediocore coaching when they see it. Bitch and moan about Corvallis and facilities and airports….it always boils down to fucking coaching!!!!

    • Yer hittin the nail on the head. Its not really all that common for a sports writer to actually do indepth analysis and actually have insight to why games are won or lost. And….in the writeup they are expected to do, superficial works just fine.

And nice guy behavior by a coach is very welcome, and so they tend to give that coach a break.

  12. Hopefully Robbins can play at that level each night. If so, with Payton they could be decent even in conference. The point guard is a good driver but can’t finish to save his life…that’s going to be a problem.

  13. Good win. Looked a little short size wise, but that could be the video.
Seemed poised down the strectch, made FT’s, and played good D.
I thought too much dribbling and one-on-one play at the end of regulation.
Question: can Tinkle design a play for the end of games, or does he rely on the players ability to make it happen?

    • I expect they have worked mostly on fundamentals, unlearning CR tendancies, the D’s they shift in and out of…..but at some point ol Tinkle will for sure work up some clever scoring plays for various situations.

  14. Game wasn’t pretty but the Beavers found a way to get it done. Robbins was good, his shot selection at times was poor but he also made a lot of big plays when the Beavs needed them.

Olaf played a really good game on both ends. Played solid defense and hit big shots to keep the team in it in the first and second half. His defense to preserve the win was nice. Like the fact that Olaf isn’t trying to be something he’s not. Doesn’t gamble on defense or try to be a shot blocker. He just focuses on being solid and contesting. His improvement has been enormous this season.

Team would be decent if Duvivier ever gets it going. I’m higher on him than most. He has talent, he just seems to be lacking confidence. I think that turns around at some point.

  15. They’re going to get killed in Pac-12 play if they start off the way they started off tonight. Luckily Portland was cold too and that was the difference.

Really impressed with what WT is doing with the team. Seems to be making a silk purse out of a…

    • Gomis for reid sometimes.

Really we have like 4 legit players. If reid or duv can get something going we’ll steal some conference wins.

Super duper impressed with WT live. Always teaching. And yelling plays and schemes to the guys. Also schmoozing with fans before the game and halftime. That guy is a diamond.

      • It’s down to 7 players for the most part…Ironically, they are going to be crazy deep next year. Tinkle may have the problem of not enough minutes to give.

  16. I have felt good about Tinkle and his ability to develop this team all along.
I think that we will surprise the PAC12. I predict .500 or better. Crazy, yes.

    • Me too…. Just the business of not coaching what is at halftime a win, into a loss, like CR seemed determined to do, should get us a few. One thing needed is finding who can get hot and score a bunch. We kept UP from making a basket for long stretches but I cant see that happening in conference play. We gotta work up ways to get more scoring. I think that will happen, as the coaches learn better who can do what. We’ll see. But right now, very happy with the progress.

      • If the PG can just finish in the lane on easy shots we’ll see a huge boost in offense. For now he should get in the lane like he’s been doing and dish to whomever’s open, until he finds his shot.

  17. I can’t believe women’s BB is 8-0 and demolishing opponents. Several 50 point wins. It would be nice if these sports could bring in actual revenue.

  18. Wayne Tinkle just favorited my tweet.

@waynetinkle Great job tonight. Players had a visible desire to win that game. Never saw that once last year.Great work doesn’t go unnoticed
