  1. Whoever sent me an anti spam request — you should be good to go now. I didn’t catch the name before approving it.

Is the site running okay/at normal speeds for everyone?

  2. LOL. The classic Riley inside screen leads to a perfectly thrown ball…….to the Rutgers DT.
Play action bomb followed by a really great trickeration play and Rutgers trails the Riley’s by seven.

  3. Coaches Hot Seat with more truth:

“The 2015 Nebraska football team IF Bo Pelini was still the head coach would in our opinion right now be…

    9 – 1 at worst and 10 – 0 at best

….because the TRUTH is there is…

Plenty of Damn Talent on this Nebraska roster

…and there will ALWAYS be plenty of talent on the Nebraska roster….unless Mike Riley does what he did at Oregon State where in our opinion…

Mike Riley did less and less work over the years

…and left behind a Complete Freaking Disaster in Corvallis…”

  4. Riley Van Pelt winning two in a row to convince Charlie Husker to buy in and kick that football…before yanking it away again with another mediocre season next year #TPB

  5. Since they mentioned her, Ronda Rousey/Holly Holm matchup is a farce. No way in hell has Holm earned a title shot, but they wanted to get her in a Rousey fight before she takes a UFC loss.

  6. Beavs look to have an attitude that they can turn it on at any time and win the game. That’s what the body language and effort shows.

They should run the offense through Eubanks and then have him kick out. That would work best since he’s been effective in there. Driving and missing layups (same as last year), missing free throws (same as last year), and street ballin’ isn’t working

    • Yeah, you noticed the missed layups too? Historically, they seem to miss more layups than any team I’ve seen, but of course it’s because I watch them more, but it still seems excessive.

    • Missing that something to prove, “us against the world” chip on their shoulder this year.

They have more talent, but not enough to get away with that.

  7. way too many offensive rebounds given up in the first half. Too many guys going for the block instead. Knock that shit off! ducks ran this team out of the gym by 48. Are you kidding me? Better pick it up in the 2nd half

  8. Very wise words from beavergopher:

Went to season opener at The Barn last night. We might need to temper expectations for our freshmen. I watched three talented freshman…….play like freshman. Dumb mistakes and defensive let downs interspersed with moments of brilliance. Hopefully Tinkle can get the Beav newbies integrated into the existing players without sacrificing wins in the Non-Con.

  9. We doing a football thread today? Don’t want to clutter this up with my “angry” Tlingit talk every time NM commits a turnover….

  10. Beavs win 74-52. 2nd half was better but I was expecting a better all around performance. This effort will not beat Iona on Tuesday

  11. Finally the Beavs get one of those St. Marys/Gonzaga type bigs (Eubanks) who just makes all the shots and is fluid. Always wondered why they couldn’t find guys like that yet those other schools could. Good eye by Tinkle getting him.

Tinkle’s kid is going to be good. Smart and has a balanced skill set.
Thompson has a great shot, but didn’t seem into D or dishing (might have a ball hog here).

Bruce looked raw but okay — he looks the least ready of the group, and I think he won’t be on the level of the other freshman until later in the year.

“Big G” is very raw…not sure they’re going to get much out of him this year or beyond. Looks nervous and unsure of everything.

    • Eubanks may have the most upside. From a small sample I’m already thinking he was a steal for the Beavs. Super athletic for a big.

I believe Thompson will get better dishing and D-ing up. The kid seems to have great parents, comes across really mature and is very well spoken for a freshman plus he’s wicked smart (4.0 in HS). With that base, talent/IQ and good coaching his all around game should come around, at least I hope so. I’m more concerned about his calorie intake (Bruce too)… They’re both rail thin.

Tinkle looks bigger than I originally thought. Agree Angry, balanced and heady player. Not great athleticism but good.

Big G seems like project but he’s the type of player that will do anything the coaches ask. Good glue guy role player.

  12. Even jump shooters missing free throws… Not a lot of energy tonight. A win but should have won by 35+. Eubanks, with a turnaround/10 foot jumper plus 20 lbs of muscle, could be pretty awesome by his Jr. year. I think the other freshmen, like most freshmen, will be up/down.

  13. I’m nervous for the Iona game, it seemed like nobody on our team wanted to shoot besides stevie. And Stevie doesn’t seem to want to pass the rock. Drew is good and will only get better. Gary stuffed stats as usual. Olaf played 25ish minutes(guessing) and put up 5 points and 5 boards… Trash. Free throw shooting needs to get better. And 6-20 from deep isn’t superb. Let’s see how we do against a good squad Tuesday

  14. I think Thompson, maybe it was Bruce they look alike, was really good ball handler. I think they need to buckle down on the defense a little bit more, they will realize they can get out and run more with steals. I like Tinkle down low think he will have some big games.

The free throws were disappointing and an era that needs to improve. What worries me the most is the rebounding, NCU was getting way too many offensive boards. Hopefully they can get guys to buy in and attack the glass. We don’t have one guy to windex the glass, we need the whole team to help out.

Overall, pretty pleased with what I saw. Iona will present another chance to see how they respond to the game film and work on a few things.
