I’m trying, it’s pretty brutal hoops right now. Beavers up by 11 and now turning in over left and right after a nice first half.

Towson cuts it to 7 with 9 min to go. Beating the beavs up down low.

Now it’s down to 6. Sure they are better than the 2008-2010 teams, but….. looking at the P-12 with much trepidation. They should not let these very average mid-majors continue to go on second half runs with the talent that they have.

Is all this “elbow throwing” review by the officials as annoying to you all as it is to me. They could clean everything up just by tossing the intentional throwers out of the game.

Did anyone catch an explanation for that double foul?

Collier never came within six inches of contacting the head, so what’s the call?

    • steveEbeaver says:

They called the never connected elbow when he was making his move to the middle of the lane. With the ball over his head.

They called a flagrant if you can believe that. I guess these guys are regular P-12 refs? They seem to be intent on slowing down any pace to this game. Second long flagrant review and a couple of palmings called on the Beavs. Maybe they are out of shape or something?

I guess it’s an area of concentration as far as the officials are concerned. Too many swinging elbows to make space for the offensive player. I don’t get the 2 shot flagrant on Collier though, if anything just a 1 shot. I think Collier’s game attitude was in play there. It’s not right but I think it affects the officials judgement.

With Starks’ trouble on the offensive end he is an absolute liability in the game.

I guess we could see this coming, but I can’t believe what I’m seeing. I could accept if a mid-major came out on fire and played tough from the get go, but we are talking about continually blowing comfortable double digit leads.

I’ve been extremely patient, but this is about all I can take. Craig needs to be canned. Not seeing any progress and playing an OT game at home against Towson is inexcusable. He’s been given more than enough time but he needs to go. This is pathetic.

        Oh!

        Was that out of line?

But most of you Medford Minds should keep your nigger shit to yourselves. I don’t just hear it online. I hear it in the here and now. And I rip new shit holes for those who make this shit up.

It actually upsets me. We spent eight years with idiot boy, and nigger is to blame?

        You ass-hats are comedy gold.

FTR… this team deserved to lose. they putzed around with a 13 point lead and trusted the refs. Then they played around with luck.

Casinos exist precisely because of this.

Jack, that was an extremely unfair comment if directed at me. I am always very civil in my debates and I don’t think you would find any comment of mine that would even hint at racism. I’m actually a little puzzled at your outburst, I guess I just ignore posts that don’t focus on the games/season itself.

I was actually just giving you a good natured poke because Angry seems to be as critical of CR ‘s COACHING as others, but you seem to give him a pass in the “blog debates”.

Maybe I should make a post apologizing to you specifically in the first sentence?

I had a conversation the other day about Pac 12 hoops with a Duck fan here in Eugene. And he did what others here do with the conversation. He made it about Coach Rob’s brother-in-law and didn’t talk about hoops at all except to poke away at the obvious win/loss and tourney appearances… and that was just in passing.

I had the opportunity, so I pushed him to say what he felt. And after a couple leading questions he walked right into the racism conversation. I let him ramble for a while until he said, “I’m not a racist but, at least we have an honest, hard-working Midwesterner as our coach, not some guy who was hired because he was the brother-in-law of the president.”

I wanted to scream him down in public. I just turned and walked away.

So when numb nuts one and numb nuts two take their time to say all the same catch phrases and key words in their posts here, I know what they’re really saying. But I also knew you weren’t doing that. To them, Coach Rob is the anti-christ who can’t win for losing. To me, he’s a mediocre coach who actually knows his hoops and says it straight after the good and bad games. I sit there and watch his post-pressers, and I wonder how someone who sees exactly what I see in a game can’t take that information and process it in order to be an awesome coach. He was hired on the cheap, and he’s learning on the job how to do all that.

            That’s all I can figure.

Anyway, it’s not as bad as we think. And it’s not as good as it can be. Our hoops program is just stuck in the middle until we get a bona fide star. Cunningham was good, but the Pac has been reaching for a couple years in the talent department. He was not a player who could win games by just showing up… obviously.

We have some kids on the roster and coming who can be stars. And we had a decent team before Brandt’s injury. Even Berto’s stepping up this year. I just can’t help but feel like the team is having itself a pity party without Angus. Maybe this blow-up will help them clear their heads?

And I’m still royally pissed about that flagrant against Collier. I’m not as angry as I am at the Civil War joke of a crew from last year. I will actually scream at Kevin Brill for as long as my voice holds out the next time I see him… on the street or on the court. And that’s because I think he’s the shittiest ref to ever blow a whistle. If I were to watch that game again (I’ve watched it four times now), I could probably break it down to show how the refs were attempting to influence the game. i don’t think that happened. But man they were worse than terrible over the last thirty minutes of that game. Covering bets would explain a lot more than how really really poorly they reffed that game.

I’m wandering… I’ll just leave it there for now.

That’s why I was curious as to the origins of this officiating crew. Beavs have nobody to blame but themselves, but these officials were bound and determined not to let them play their game. This one was on the players for losing the lead, I don’t see much if anything CR did wrong.

I’ve always said CR needs to get to .500 in league by year five as a fair benchmark (he has been a coach for 7 years now). I think he’s an average coach who may or may not get better. I don’t know, but it would be nice to have one year where they play above themselves and get out of this 23 year run of mediocrity.

The last few games against mid-majors have been pretty frustrating and you could see this coming a mile away. I would just like the team to get to .500 in P-12 play, that would be a breakthrough.

True, but this team isn’t sniffing .500. Other than playing like crap, what sucked the most is the team is so lifeless. No energy all game long. Just look like they’re going through the motions far too much.

I thought they came out to start the second half and played pretty good for the first few minutes to build the 13 point lead to 19 and then they just stopped playing. But I’m with you, they won’t be a .500 P-12 team unless something drastic happens.

But that would be incorrect. They were bad on D with Cunningham.

And it’s not like they were bad on D yesterday. They were bad on O.

Just look at the stat lines. There’s no way I look at the stats and think we lost this game until I see the score.
