Looks like students are showing up in good numbers (see free tuition) bit the rest of the stands are pretty empty. Even Husky fans didn’t want to make the trip down.
Go Beavs!
Cause we’re TNT….
GA gets blown out at home again. A few nice runs by Nall and Tre Johnson but McPassin throws 53% of the time again. Broken record repeats yet again. Fans abandon the smelly stink of GA and crew by the late 3rd quarter. Only 12K in stands by end of game.
What do you mean by free tuition? Are they offering that at OSU now? Thanks.
I can’t wait for the Oregon and Fresno games to start. Much more interesting plot lines in those games. This one is over fast. Only humor/interest from this game will be making fun of GA’s incompetence on Twitter haha.
Moore got the start over Hudson. Had hoped Hudson would take over last week with Morris on the other side, but apparently they thought they should give Moore some extra shots at targeting penalties
This is only the 2nd game I’ve been able to sit down and watch (Minnesota). A few things I noticed on UW’s first drive……..
Saw more flailing than tackling. Are guys on D out of position that badly due to making wrong reads? Are the DB’s taught to not start moving until the receiver they are covering is parallel with them? The pass to Pounds that beat Crawford down the sideline, Crawford didn’t even move his feet until Pounds was almost by him. Is he supposed to jam him at the LOS and just completely whiffed????
I have seen enough. Andersen has got to go!!! Get Beau Baldwin this offseason, while he still might consider us, before we are down to 10-15K showing up for home games.
Maybe after being fired they start bagging groceries while still trying to bone college girls, and have to deal with the disappointment of girls not being impressed with brown bags (unless they’re on their heads and they’re into that sort of thing) ???
The D looks like GA’s first season, what the hell happened? And as I say that, they have a good series, but I had visions of Bright and Manase dominating this year.
No reason for the opponent to play any farther than 15 yards beyond the LOS until they figure out how to stretch the field vertically. Run the ball all you want but it’s going to be mostly tough sledding uphill.
I wonder why we abandoned the Pistol we ran last year. Nall was able to hit the hole with more momentum rather than standing around forever in the backfield from the Shotgun. Seems like it bought us an extra two yards of failing forward on most plays.
I just noticed the Fresno game is going to be on a backwater over-the-air channel called “Stadium” here in the PDX area at 7pm. I’m thinking by then watching McM might be a little more interesting then this.
They were never the problem. Despite the snarky comments to the contrary.
Any D will cave when the O puts them in bad position over and over and over and over…
They’re a bad D but not an awful D like the stats and scores make it seem. With a good O this D would be ranked in the 60-70s probably.
For whatever reason people don’t understand all 3 phases of football are intimately linked.
Sorry but that is a false narrative. The offense is bad, no question. Worse than the defense. And yes that does put extra pressure on the D. But that absolutely does not excuse the putrid defense we’ve seen so far this season.
I would buy that argument if our defense came out of the gates solid, worsened as the game rolled on, and collapsed by the 4th quarter (think Oregon in 2017 CW). But no, we’ve been largely bad start to finish. The D is plenty bad in their own right.
Last week we saw major improvement, but were horrible on 3rd down and gave up many backbreaking big plays. This week our first drive was awful but they’ve been great since then. If we collapse in the 4th due to no ToP, I’ll blame the O.
We were in every game at the half until the O failed to move the ball, D wore out at the half, and were always defending a short field. And you’re leaving out ST, like Bradford muffing punts and fair catching at the 5 yard line. Sorry, dude.
They’re mediocre for sure but the O is the main problem, specifically the QB and play calling.
I thought he looked really fast first few games. Think the staff just doesn’t like him. McGenius made some derogatory comments how he doesn’t know the playbook (even though he knew it game 1 and 2 enough to play early and often).
That’s a fucking touchback, a couple refs on this crew are backing the huskies hard. Near side line judge tried to fuck us with the bailout PI on wilson
It was like they decided the substitution wouldn’t have given them a 1st down, so they went with the phantom holding call that was nowhere hear the play
Unfortunately, I think our “stay the course” approach to halftime adjustments will prove catastrophic. Overall though a good half of football. Major props to the D.
What might be the biggest difference in defensive improvement: safety play.
Brandon Arnold was an absolute liability in coverage early on. Morris was an immediate upgrade and he’s getting better every week. Hudson seems to be coming into his own as well- seems a lot better than Moore.
The common theme I see watching OSU is that every analyst criticizes OSU play-calling and strategy.
At Colorado State, I believe Rick Neuheisel was criticizing the lack of run attempts. During this game, they’re criticizing the inability or lack of downfield play calls to at least try to keep the defense honest. If every single fucking announcer or analyst can see this, why can’t GA?
We could have Tom Brady back there and we would still have zero chance. Lack of creative play calling, playmakers at receiver, and a dumpster fire for an O line and this is what you get
Not that it matters, but that Dunn holding call looked like it was a Pac12 ref bailout call, just in case UW needed it. Was there any hint of holding by Dunn?
If you don’t think refs are told by the conference to further the interests of the conference (i.e. keep top teams on top) then the shoe companies are completely clean with college basketball.
Halftime adjustment: GA blabbing about trusting the process yada yada, McGiven in a corner hoping he doesn’t get fired at the half, Clune saying “do whatever you’re doing it’s working”…meanwhile, D players huddle up and say “I’m tired, fuck this offense, they’ll never score so time to rest.”
Rinse, repeat. That’s why I still believe this is all on the O, despite the 60-0 likely final.
Turned the game off. Time to check out Oregon and Fresno.
Agree. Nevada is no barometer. They might be worse than us.
When Fresno plays a team with a pulse we’ll have a better idea.
That being said, he would still be our best QB option by a mile, and we’d have likely scored at least 14 pts. tonight.
Ultimately it comes down to the offense, but just too many critical 3rd and long or 4th downs given up, which has killed the otherwise good defensive play.
The moment you let go of a coach making non-merit decisions and a coaches inability to analyze the best player is the moment you get exactly what you deserve. And it’s why you are suffering through this mess while I laugh at GA’s decision and just how obvious it was. I want to spread that message as a public service.
Washington announcers having a good chuckle at OSU’s expense. I can’t believe McGiven won’t be fired after this. Defeat is one thing, sheer ineptitude another.
The worst part about all this is that the defense played their freaking hearts out tonight before they ran out of energy. We were absolutely in this game even down 14-0 thanks to their efforts, and McGiven just takes a big steaming dump all over their work.
I would disagree that it’s been that way every game. The offense has always been terrible, but the defense was also terrible to start the season. They’ve shown steady improvement however, and I think Clune’s redeemed himself in my eyes tonight.
Strongly disagree with that. The D has not been good for a half until this game. Fundamentals looked better last week but we still gave up most of the key plays that mattered.
Key stat: we had ZERO sacks through our first 3 games. That included the mighty Portland St. Relatdly, we had very little pressure on the QB. That is awful.
Better question may be…. would Marcus do that against Nevada with our line / receivers and more importantly our play calling….: if GA doesn’t make a move after this…. when will he?
Well, they are smart enough to fit their personnel to the over and over again plays or perhaps its the over and over again plays to their personnel – concepts which appear to elude Andersen and company.
No, Stanford doesn’t call the same play with variations. Unless you’re just going to break down your game to pass or run (which are two different play calls), then you fail. Stanford runs a varied number of run plays out of a varied number of sets.
This is not good. Hope this is the low point and we figure some shit out soon and beat a few teams. It seems like we match up so well against these other teams but we haven’t exactly killed it recruiting the past few years now so what can we honestly expect? The kids are trying to play hard and our coaches are among the best there is. Give it more time and realize this could be a fluke down year too.
Ignoring the drama surrounding his departure, do you really think our record is any different with McMaryion at QB? We’d still have Anderpants and McGivint. He’s like your first love that got away, angry. Built up to perfection in your mind, faults forgotten.
The offensive “braintrust” chose a guy who is clearly not a strong PAC 12 QB and designed the offense around him rather than trying to incrementally improve on what we already had. They came up with their offensive system, then tried to force their players into it, rather than working around the talent that was there (e.g. lack of two RB sets until a month into the season).
Angry is just using MM as an example of the staff’s ineptitude and beating it to death.
We’d be 2-2 heading into this game (we’d beat CSU with McM that secondary was awful…they gave up Luton’s only long TD on the year!), would have been in it with MN longer and then anything goes, and would have been in the WA game. Team moral would have been better from Game 1, which also would have bode well.
At least McGiven will be fired soon. It’s the only positive from the McM botchery. We’re left with a head coach who knows nothing about QBs, though.
Jack has no idea how to analyze QBs. I tried to say it as nicely as possible to him in order to avoid 100 crazy responses. But calling McM noodle arm just proves he knows shit. Maybe he should change his name to jack shit. Hah.
He’ll come up with some hamster wheel rationalization for the 45 yard pass, like there was a tornado and the wind took it.
I don’t understand. Is he at least doing well against a team that makes the scrubs in garbage time of his previous games look good… because he finally has competent coaches?
Washington announcers getting a big kick out of the “2 fireworks” that went off. Giggled about how few people are there, and not much chance to use fireworks at Oregon State. “Use ’em or lose ’em. ”
Tee hee.

Score prediction from last thread…guess i was too generous For both teams. I couldn’t find it, but I know I also said that if McGivin would force DG to run the same offense they had Luton run instead of the option game we played last year, we will lose and lose big. If we ran the offense we ran last year, we would have given ourselves a better chance of being more competitive or even winning.
This ‘game plan’ or whatever the hell it is, is clearly not working when you punt or turn the ball over(same thing in the defenses eyes) every offensive possession. It has to wear on the defense mentally knowing that if you make a stop, it just means you get a 30 second-3 minute break before you have to go back out on the field. No wonder the defense looks bad in the second half; they just stop trying hard because they don’t see the point in getting gassed every game.
I bet the coaches will say, ‘it was better, but we were also playing the top 10 defense in the country. So we just need to limit the mistakes on offense and get better OL play.’ *rolls eyes* bullshit. Defense is ahead of the offense; by about 2 years.
1. He only did well vs Arizona and Oregon. They leave out Utah and Washington State, and also make the false assumption that anyone could have thrown for 5TDs vs Arizona and won a CW.
2. Noodle arm. False if you watch games instead of drawing conclusions from his little nerd head.
3. He can’t run. Even though he was a top 10 dual threat QB coming out of HS and ran for 80 yards on the Ducks once the coaches let him run. But none of that matters. It’s just the Ducks and every HS team he played were awful.
Now he goes to Fresno.
1. Dominates in limited reps vs Incarnate World. “That college sucks”. Yes, true.
2. Dominates vs Alabama in limited reps. “Oh that was just garbage time it doesn’t matter”
3. Dominates vs Washington in limited reps vs 1st and 2nd string. Myth that he “did it all vs 3rd string hacks”. Even if true, which it isn’t, Washington’s 3rd string is better than Fresno’s first string.
4. Dominates Nevada. “Oh, that’s just Nevada they stink.”
Always an excuse. A truthful answer looks like this:
“GA ran the best QB off the team. Yeah, he didn’t have the strongest arm, but he was the best QB on the roster. Dude finished his degree in a few years, high IQ, mastered Fresno’s playbook in weeks. OSU players rallied around him. GA handing Luton the job divided the team. So while Marcus might not be an NFL all world QB, he was good for this system and has proven himself at every opportunity, unlike the starting QB on our roster.” …oh, “And we just hate him because Angry was right.”
That’s reality. Gary ruined the season. McGiven helped him. Suck it with your excuses and rationalizations.
1. He did moderately well against Utah. Nobody has asked for a list of the the most moderately well games played by QBs in the last three years, to my knowledge. His Wazzu game was possibly the worst QB game for OSU in the last several years. Stop bringing it up. It’s actually a little painful to recall… fucking River Cracraft.
2. Noodle arm. You must scheme around that if you’re the OC. He cannot throw a deep out. He can’t hit a shallow hitch on a blitz read. Get over it.
3. Who said he can’t run? He refused to run. He was getting screamed at by mother fucking Kevin McGiven to run the goddamn ball when he so fucking obviously missed the reads. This is not even up for debate. Anyone within 40 rows of the sideline knows this. Don’t know what HS has to do with anything. He rarely ran in HS. Or do those stats not matter now?
1. 2. 3. All true except your insistence that UW wasn’t getting their scrubs some letterman jackets.
4. Understatement.
Ga didn’t do shit other than tell some weak-minded would be leader that he isn’t the starter. GA didn’t run away when times got hard. You’re supporting someone who fucked OSU when he was in a position to help us. I give no quarter to that kind of cowardice.
Missed the game but came home to see the score. Saw the score at the half? Anyone with a legit quick recap?
I am kind of glad I missed this debacle. Part of me was hoping that the basketball scandal meant all of college sports would collapse this week so I wouldn’t have to watch our dreadful teams anymore (baseball excluded).
We were good on D for a half like in every other game, the offense didn’t move the ball (like in every other game), the D eventually wore out, and we got blown out like in every other game.
Buy an air popper and a bucket of kernels for the hoops scandal. It’s going to be a slow drip for a long time. I’ve heard the FBI is locked on at least 40 schools, maybe 50+. I’ve heard some hoops analysts who are in the know that, if they wanted, the FBI could find as many as 100 schools running cash.
Tuesday was an awesome day for college hoops. But it was just one of many coming awesome days.
Honestly the defense was solid. Seems weird to say that with a 42-7 game, but the offense was so so bad.
I really feel mcgiven is on his last leg. He is an awful awful oc. Granted this game(uw defense is good), but we had no rhythm or direction. We just seem to be such a, throwing darts in the dark, offense.
I feel woods or the first oc? Can finish this year, and we need to hire a serious, very good qb coach/oc. Just hold your breathe and prey that petras is the savior!!
What do u mean nobody saw it? It doesn’t take a genius to realize that not many points and yards from an offense means it’s a problem. Get off your high horse.
Too bad the comments are locked, and if you go read them, almost everyone blamed the D until today. I had to painstakingly explain to them how the 3 units are interlocked and the O/ST were the main problems.
Just because UW only scored 7 points in the first half doesn’t mean the defense was actually all that great. UW still got plenty of yards in the first half. Hardly impressive defense. DBs also got away with at least 2 obvious PI’s in the first that finally got called in the 2nd half. What saved the defense in the 1st half was that UW had poor field position on nearly every drive so they could give up some 1st downs and still get a stop. UW ran 40 plays in the 1st half, 44 in the 2nd half. Field position just stopped saving the defense in the 2nd half.
I’m not so sure McGiven is “on his last leg”; GA seems pretty stubborn and attached to the idea of “getting the old band back together”. Hope I’m wrong.
Andersen seems to be getting fed up with the offensive ineptitude in the post game interview but then says it’s on me. Jesus get a real coordinator or resign already
“Let the coaches off the hook for their awful, season changing decision…yet, I’m still going to go on to complain how our team stinks…I’ll just find other things to blame.”
No. I will not let GA off the hook for his awful decision. If you do, you deserve the pain of the losing and are part of the problem. Winning programs get key decisions right. Getting them wrong should never be forgiven. It’s why you are OSU.
Nice the old put words in your oppositions mouth lol. Im not letting anyone off the hook. U r super sensitive to the mcm situation and its weird. U claim to know football but if u beleive the record would be different u r as stubborn as ga.
Why didn’t we fire/demote McLovin during the bye? That would have been the obvious time. New QB and two weeks to prepare. I know that the playbook wouldn’t have changed that much but it was the perfect chance to hit the reset.
The problem is the visor.
I’ve told you this before.
The team hates looking at the ugly butch haircut pop out of a goofy visor. Other coaches who wear visors have hair (and even those coaches should not wear visors). Do cowboys wear visors? Do marines wear visors? Do kick boxers wear visors? Women golfers wear visors. Yes, women golfers wear visors. That’s the problem.
Nuf said.
The problem is the mentality. Look at the bozo above saying to forget about the coaches fucking up the entire season with their decisions.
Look at that video OSU put out teaching fans how to cheer with AC/DC music straight out of the 70s.
Look at the chainsaw straight out of ’83 that we run on 3rd downs when down 40.
It’s not rocket science to figure out why the school has a loser mentality. Starts at the top and trickles to the fans. Everything OSU does is lame and embarrassing.
I don’t know how much of it is Jonathan Smith but I was pretty impressed with the UW play calling throughout this game. Haven’t been on the “Smith for coach” bandwagon but I do like the idea of getting a young guy that can better relate to kids and if Smith would want the gig who could be better at selling OSU to recruits than a guy that was part of OSU’s best team in recent history?
While hiring him seems like a homer call it could actually make sense.
Either way, if Andersen survives this season (and he probably will) it proves OSU has no real desire to compete in football.
People argued against McM from day 1 while Angry, if I’m remembering this accurately, argued for him literally the entire time. I don’t even think Angry thinks he’s a prodigy, all he said was that he should be the guy over everybody else. But everyone here pushed back “oh no Seth is sooooo much better,” “oh no Luton is a big giant arm he’s better” and now it comes to “well McM is gone time to forget about it.”
Everyone is super eager to forget about McM because it reminds them that they were wrong and GA was wrong. I think part of it is that everyone was drinking the GA koolaid and just agreeing blindly with the Seth and Luton decisions. It’s time to stop buying into all these decisions blindly and start seeing who the real talents are and recognize how bad GA’s decisions have been with the QB issue.
* McM better than most of us thought initially
* GA and crew don’t know what the hell they are doing with QBs and handled LDR and McM situation like crap
* McM is marginally better than the QBs we have now but at least he won some games (albeit against horrible defenses.)
* Angry has a beaver boner for McM
*McM was downplayed by GA and Co which allowed everyone to jump on the anti McM bandwagon
*AGREED
*Mostly agree
*Nah that makes it seem like an irrational liking. Angry can’t let it go because it’s the principal reason this team sucks, and he doesn’t want to let GA get away with letting it happen.
All right, how about I go with “big boy boner” instead? :)
Not sure the McM situation is the main reason the team sucks. That’s not giving enough credit to McGivint’s ineptitude and Offense of the Week philosophy.
All I can agree with at this point is we’re in deep trouble. We have no QB ready in the pipeline, and even if we did, our head coach wouldn’t know what to do with him.
I do like Petras, but I’m not sure he’s good enough to play as a freshman. He might have to. He’ll be the best on the roster next year if GA doesn’t screw that up somehow.
Prediction: as soon as he starts showing some kind of competence GA will fly off to find a high stakes player to put all his chips into and then run him off the team.
GA is basically the coach equivalent of the girl who always goes for the mysterious bad boy.
I do agree we are in big trouble… partly because of the qb but also because of the line…. our line sucked and every qb we sent to slaughter last year sucked…. until Sean Harlow came back…then we could run a little bit… the qb looked better and we all had hope. Then Gus transferred we started a bunch of new guys…. started some pass happy crap offense and even when we try to run without a great move by the back we are stuffed……yes 3m would maybe be a little better but bottom line…we have been able to get a few speed guys on both sides of the ball sin GA came but our bigs are lacking…until we figure that out 3m and all the rest are screwed…. and yeah the recruiting can be attributed to GA and McCrappy….
At least there are some good OL in the system. Not worried about the OL.
No good QBs.
Gary thought Moran was a good QB. I watched that one HS game on ESPN and could tell he wasn’t. No other P5 school offered him at QB. Same as Luton. Same as Williard, I believe? Seth had 1 offer.
These all should have been very obvious based on the film, but even if Gary is poor at analyzing QB film, look at the offer sheet…if nobody offers or they offer the guy at a different position it’s a pretty good sign you’re reaching.
We’ll find about about Willard. Luton actually isn’t that bad. Sorry… wasn’t.
I have zero hope as long as McGiven is the OC. The play calling was 1000% better today. But it was ineffective because we were just outmatched… and Villy couldn’t catch a slant.
Wtf, Villy?
It’s weird. Villy catches bad throws from Luton. But he can’t hold on to anything from DG or MM?
*nope… he is what he is. I’ve written much in support of him. It has come to pass. He’s a decent back-up on the P5 level. He’ll be better next year.
*disagree wholly… LDR should be a walk-on on the D1 level, not just P5. MM just didn’t win the starting spot and ran away. I imagine he threw some hissy where he threatened to leave if the coaches didn’t change their minds, and they told him, “Oh yeah? Well you’re not second string anymore.”
*agree because he would remove a lot of the playbook from our OC.
*agree… best QB has zero bearing on where we are now, and ignoring the obvious leadership quality of running away when things don’t go your way is just dumb.
No I need to quit drinking… I was thinking about Will Hopkins that transferred… but the premise is the same… our line didn’t do crap for the qb or backs last year until Harlow came back (and we hit the weak part of our scheduale) this year it is the same….even when we try to run we don’t get much push. I know angry and some say we have some good young guys getting bulked up but until I see it I have a hard time believing we will see much success no matter who the qb or back or wr is…. but bottom line if GA wants to be hands off on offense…. he needs to make a change to his staff and now….
UW is just that much better than we are. Don’t pretend that even a great O-line can work it aganst that front six. I was rather impressed by ours and our commitment to the run. They had safeties creeping into the box. That’s the first time I’ve seen UW do that this year.
And we were rarely behind the chains on 3rd down. That was nice to see. I wish we would have built that foundation in game 1.
I don’t know why Villy can’t catch any passes from anyone not named Mannion or Luton. Our conversion on 3rd would have been much better if he didn’t drop passes… or get pegged in the head by them.
I don’t think anybody said what you “quoted”, or had the mentality your portraying. The QB position is the one that people have been most concerned about since he was hired, given his track record at UW. I remember cautious optimism that the coaches actually had a clue what they were doing. Many people hoped Luton would be utilized effectively in a run-first offense.
3M would probably be doing terrible at OSU too, because guess what, he’d have McGiven as a coach. The OC is the major issue. The DC is one, too. And HC is looking questionable.
Oh… it got a little hazy last year because DG had moxie, and MM had about as much moxie as he has pterodactyls. It was tough watching the two QBs who tried get stomped by the tough part of the schedule just to have MM step in and… well… suck until he literally faced a D that had three practice quad members starting.
But he was my QB, and I would support him, dammit!
Then he ran away when he got a tinge of adversity.
Buh-bye.
Don’t let the door hit your pussy on the way out, you disloyal little fuck.
Stop talking about him. Stop worrying about him. Bringing him up reminds me that he is weak and runs away when things don’t magically go his way.
Boo fucking hoo.
The only thing that sates my disdain for fraidy-cats like that is that they end up in Malebolge like he did.
The memory of Andersen telling him that “you’ll never play” at Oregon State still burns in Del Rio’s mind like it was yesterday.
“It was Tuesday about 6:50 in the morning when they told me, and I still had to go to practice because it was during spring drills,” Del Rio recalls. “It hurt; it hurt a lot. I asked them, ‘So do you want me to transfer?’ That’s when they said, ‘Look, we’re not telling you to do anything; we’re just telling you that you’ll never play here.'”
Or are you going to wimp out because you thought you could bully me with your stupidity like you do with everyone else on the interwebs?
I’m actually interested in your particular take. I will have something to say about it. But I want to hear how you are not a whiny victim who was never really a victim, just whiny.
The answer to the headline question is and was obviously no.
Anyway, thanks for linking the same story twice. It makes you not look like a troll. At least all the posts in the comments on that story aren’t trolls. Those Florida peeps just love their football. Maybe tomorrow you can link the box score to the 2014 CW… twice.
This Cal vs Oregon game is about as hard to watch as an Oregon State vs Oregon State game would be. Both teams look terrible, especially with Herbert and Freeman out
In more important news, the baseball team scrimmaged today. Mixed squads and the guys were wearing different numbers so it was hard to follow any of the new guys.
Overall the team looked solid. Ended 4-4 after 8 innings. Gambrell and tweedt started. Eisert, verberg and a new lefty pitched as well.
Two guys hit homeruns. Not sure who they were though. This is good since they are the guys providing depth.
The main guys looked very good. Kwan was 3 for 4 with his only out being a hard line drive to rf. Larnach hit the ball real hard each time up. Grenier too. Madrigal didn’t have his best day at the plate but made some MLB level plays on defense. Adleys had a nice double to rf.
Barring major injuries, beavs are set up for a deep postseason run again. Tremendous depth.
The only concern I saw was with the backup catchers. A little slow on pop times and arms could be better.
Post game presser video. I haven’t seen it yet, but in actuality, I’ve seen if several times already over the past 2 1/2 years. Just switch out the team names, wash , rinse, repeat.
Actually, I take it back. That was possibly the most depressing press conference I’ve ever seen after a football game. I think I’m going to go tie a belt around my neck and well…..you know….
It seems crazy he deflects every last question about the offense saying he doesn’t know… where is Hodgins… don’t know… did you change plan for DG….. maybe a little (more or less don’t know) he did seem to acknowledge Tyner a little and did acknowledge our line didn’t do crap but then turns around and says the offensive struggles are on him as head coach. Well GA if you are going to take responsibility take it…. know what your offense is doing…. know where your players are as far as during the game…or for god sakes get rid of McCrappy and hire an offensive mind that doesn’t make you look like an idiot every Saturday night when you have to answer those questions…
I probably won’t watch the presser (no point), but I saw a quote that GA had “no idea why Isaiah Hodgins didn’t play” and referred the media to McGiven and Phillips (who were both conveniently unavailable). How is that possible? Isn’t that the second or third time now he has said that this season regarding player’s status? Is this common from a HC? I’v never heard of it before. A lot weird fucking things have happened under GA, he seems disengaged or the lunatics (meaning assistant coaches) are running the asylum and he is not in total control. This is going to be a brutal year and a half until there is no choice but to fire him.
Seeing rumors that Herbert is done for season with Broken collar bone.
Duck fans also speculating Freeman is done, after they burn their freshman running back Felix’s redshirt.
It is what it is, but don’t celebrate injury. I thought we had a bunch of low-level Duck minds lurking and commenting. But plusing that makes me think we just have a couple dicks who pose with seven different handles.
All is not lost, we did get a new commit tonigjt, I’ve been told.
Not sure who yet, but I would keep my eye on Victor Terry (or Levengood, or Thomas) Wouldnt be surprised if we end up with all 3 eventually.
They committed for free tuition w/o having to be embarrassed on the football field while blindfolded. They wanted to be able to see it from the sideline for 4 seasons.
Done with Oregon State until there is an entire new leadership structure. Beavs are beyond an embarrassment. A national laughingstock for years now. Consensus worst P5 program and numbers for offense that make us one of the worst fre of all 121 teams in the FBS.
Once GA is gone, Barnes is gone, Ed Ray is gone, Mike Parker is gone and we reinvent as a creative program run by someone age 38-40, I will return. That will allow a new coach his entire early 40s to bring consistent winning to Corvallis. Play by play by someone born after 1980 for new inspured energy over the radio waves. Until then I am DONE.
GA couldn’t even answer a question about having a different offensive approach with DG at QB. “When I’m trying to do what I do, I can’t handle every little thing.”
I did not realize he got hurt. My point was that he has a 64% completion rate this year. Better/comparable to our qb’s. Did we let another good one go? The point has been made previously I realize.
Comparisons of qb’s on different teams with different offensive lines are hard to make. What would MMM look like playing with Alabama talent? What would Lutton look like?
I did see a few missed throws yesterday but also saw Villy drop about three. We have to be able to complete more than just shovel passes and short passes to the running backs. The offense just looks bad. There were a few run plays that looked well blocked and conceived but we could not run Nall up the middle.
This team is a mess. Angry has it pegged. Inability to evaluate and recruit good QB’s. Inability to coach and improve players. Inability to recruit or develop lineman. Poor evaluation of assistant coaches. Coach-speak but inability to deliver. Can’t decide on an offensive system or adapt to the players abilities.
No. We did not let a good one go. He’s a walk-on talent who completes, “… shovel passes and short passes to the running backs.”
I have zero clue what Nall has to do with LDR not being able to complete a three yard pass.
We just played one of the best teams in the country with a system we should have installed in game one, not this game. The outcome should have been expected. If we run that system against CSU, Minnie and Wazzu, we have a chance to win all three, no matter who our QB is. If we run the same system that lost us all those games, we lose this one 77-20.
I’ll take 42-7 and a new beginning over that likely alternative.
Yeah LDR was not good, but it was shitty how GA handled it. To say “You’re never going to play here” is rude but fine so long as you help the guy transfer. The fact he told him that, then told him he wasn’t telling him to transfer is just awful. That’s the story. Not that LDR was good or GA was bad for saying he wouldn’t play. I agree with GA that LDR should not have played. Just wasn’t good. Help him find a new school. Especially if you claim to “care about kids” in every interview.
I didn’t read that line the same way. How do we know they didn’t help him transfer? I read that as giving him the option to stay if he wanted, but informing him that he had no future contributing to the team. Blunt/direct, which is definitely GA, but reasonable.
I guess the question is whether they helped him transfer/move on to a new school. Does anyone know that?
Very interesting. Cue Jack to blame him for knowing he was the best QB, wanting to start, being a model teammate/citizen/student, and getting completely hosed by GA.
I can’t imagine any prideful athlete staying in that situation. McM put in the work to complete his degree so he had the option to leave and go start elsewhere. Since GA hosed him, he took advantage of that hard work and desire to start. It’s great. And you spin it as loser. Really sad.
Have you considered that McM felt he did what he could to win the starting job and he left out of frustration and the opportunity to play elsewhere? Tedford knows a thing or two about quarterbacking. I would be pleased to be wanted in that situation. I have no idea if he would have helped the Beavs this year, but he is obviously an asset to Fresno St. I would hold off the insults, unless you have inside information that confirms your take. I wouldn’t call it adversity, this isn’t high school football or a Chip Hilton novel, I would call it a smart career choice.
He certainly did have that option. He should have taken advantage of it before camp started so as to not waste anyone’s time, including his own. Instead he created this myth about hi being a leader who was worthy of leading a team.
Then he ran away once he got a little bit of bad news.
Chickenshits do that.
If he had an ounce of nobility in his spineless body, he would have stayed and would likely be the starter for us now. But no. He ran away.
He should be dead to any OSU fan for the chickenshit way he handled all this.
Have you considered that McM felt he did what he could to win the starting job and he left out of frustration and the opportunity to play elsewhere?
That’s all I’m considering. Honorable people don’t up and quit because of a little adversity. If he knew he was going to leave, he should have done so as soon as he graduated. Instead, he wastes a bunch of time and creates a bunch of unnecessary drama because he’s a widdle fwustwated.
I will give him credit for at least running away before the camp rosters were set. That would have been double shitty. But then… he couldn’t have taken away a ship from a walk-on at Fresno if he hadn’t hurried.
We agree on a lot of stuff, you’re off base on this one, Jack. Chance to start at another D-1 school or get mind fucked by GA and his court of idiots. Simple choice.
Very simple choice. Anyone who wouldn’t make that switch is a fool, honestly.
Jack is the one who sounds like a jilted lover.
I wish he was still here. I liked him. I backed him.
He shat on me.
He can go to hell.
Belay my last.
Sounds like a HS love poem.
My stance isn’t even about McM except to show how inept GA is with QBs and hopefully get people to see that, admit it, talk about it, and ultimately get the media to wake up and call GA out. I really don’t care about McM other than he was a great teammate and the best choice for the job. This nonsense about caring about walk-ons at Fresno, honor, nobility, etc is all posturing.
We agree on a lot of stuff, you’re off base on this one, Jack. Chance to start at another D-1 school or get mind fucked by GA and his court of idiots. Simple choice.
I don’t disagree with the idea, per se. But someone with integrity would have known all that you guys are wildly imagining and left as soon as he had the chance. Instead, he pretended to be a leader and a teammate when in reality he was just a chickenshit poser.
went to the game. Shocked at the vast stretches of the stadium either (1) occupied by Husky faithful or (2) empty. That’s got to be hard to ignore from the suites. I left with a minute to go in the third quarter, which, I guess, is some reflection of progress because I left at halftime of the last two Husky games in Corvallis.
Defense has definitely improved. Portland State moved at will against them but one of the top teams in the country took a while to get it going.
What can be said about the offense. The DG I thought we’d see (by keeping a few on the option) didn’t show up, Huskies had only to pile on our RB’s because sure as hell our passing game isn’t going to keep them honest.
It’s frustrating to run a read option with Luton, who doesn’t “read” because he’s inclined to pass and then not terribly well, and then DG, who doesn’t read, probably because he’s been told not to for fear of getting injured and forcing use of our third string QB.
I stayed for the whole game. I paid for it. I might as well get my money’s worth.
It was odd… the play calling. We finally had a reason to run play-action, but we didn’t. Most of our 3rd down attempts were manageable down and distance and sucking the D into the box, but we ran very little misdirection.
I wish 3M was still here. I liked him last year, and I would have been happy starting him after Luton was mediocre for the first couple games. Certainly would love to have him right about now.
That being said, I don’t think this season would look substantially different with 3M at the helm from game 1. Maybe we’re more competitive, but I don’t think we pick up any extra wins. 3M may be better than Luton, but he’s not good enough to overcome the disaster which is our offensive identity / schematics / game planning / playcalling. In other words, he’s not good enough to overcome McGiven. And I don’t say that as a knock on him. I don’t think Kellen Moore would be good enough to overcome McGiven. Our offensive staff absolutely doesn’t have a clue.
As an aside, I’m glad 3M is doing well at Fresno. But I don’t think we will learn anything from that success that would reflect what this year could have been for us. I suppose we can kill the “noodle arm” moniker if he keeps making some good throws. But even aside from the low level of competition, 3M has a competent offensive staff with proven success and OSU’s QBs do not. That’s the difference.
I hope what the media can learn is GA botches QBs, and they start asking questions. That’s the best I can hope for from the McM situation.
If GA owned up to what he did and learned from it, it’s his one get out of jail free pass, but until he does he’s in AB prison. Can’t have a head coach who doesn’t use a merit system and messes up the most important position on the field.
Yes, the coaches are really bad. Never liked any of them. I actually like Baldwin the best, and he was demoted for no reason other than GA gifted him Seth. That’s like getting coal for Christmas.
With Baldwin at OC and McM at QB I think we have at least 2 wins right now. So many things would be different in a positive way that the synergy would create at least one extra win. Of course I can’t prove that and nobody will prove any conjecture. It’s a belief on watching a lot of football, playing sports most of my life, studying biology/synergy, and psychology.
I agree with that. Would like to see Baldwin take over as interim OC. There’s no way he’s worse than what we have, and maybe he turns out pretty decent.
With Baldwin at OC and my grandmother at QB, we could have four wins right now.
I don’t think you understand how bad McGiven really is. Even if MM wasn’t a chickenshit pussy who ran away, he would end up first starting then getting broken because McGiven is that bad.
I highly doubt it. That’s A@A type dumb. No coach is going to tell anyone they will never play for their team if they are still on their roster. Maybe LDR was told the truth, that he’s walk-on quality, and he’ll be running the practice squad. The jist of that comes through to him as, “You’ll never ever play football for this team… EVER!!!!”
MM probably got told he was barely beat out by Luton, and let’s see if he can be worked into the scheme. Then him being a chickenshit loser probably mouthed off, after which he was told, “Fine, you’re now third string.” Then he quit and ran away.
That’s as likely a scenario as GA saying those exact words.
Enough already. We know everyone here are idiots and you have a far superior sports mind.
It’s also clear that your parents did not compliment you enough as a child and you’ve been forced into self-affirmation. Is it possible for you to make an observation that doesn’t compliment yourself or infer that everyone else is inferior?
Last
Said every Beaver ever.
Is it funnier when you’re both the set up and the reply?
I think they’ll perform better than many expect without LINTon at QB. Maybe even pull an upset.
Or it’s that big fat bag of crack I just smoked talking. Could be that.
Looks like students are showing up in good numbers (see free tuition) bit the rest of the stands are pretty empty. Even Husky fans didn’t want to make the trip down.
Go Beavs!
Cause we’re TNT….
We’re dynamite! And we have a chainsaw. I wonder if we can tune the chainsaw to play AC/DC, because that would be awesome (in 1973).
Thanks.
70-13….Only 57 points, close to 50…Trust the process.
The “architect” for the football complex should never work again. That building looks so bad on tv!
Noah T. out today – ankle.
They just called that play the Angry Beaver!!!? Trademark violation; I’m suing.
Offense already looks better running more.
Offense looks bad again.
First 3 players were pretty good. Glad I trusted the process.
The “angry beaver” haha! First shout out on national TV.
I can’t wait for the Oregon and Fresno games to start. Much more interesting plot lines in those games. This one is over fast. Only humor/interest from this game will be making fun of GA’s incompetence on Twitter haha.
Defense looks bad again.
Our defense consists of just running around flailing at guys, hoping we knock somebody down
The Defense is Not the problem
The defense is not the biggest problem.
It’s still a problem.
Complete garbage on both sides of the ball. Their qb looks like Michael Vick against this joke of a defense.
Highlight of the game so far was our punt, but even that backfired as it just gave UW an opportunity to put more yards up on us
Aren’t we like the worst D in the National statistically? That 98 isn’t going to help. Nor will this 90 coming up.
But the defense isn’t the problem?
Our defense couldn’t tackle a high school freshmen running back. Completely embarrassing how bad we are at the most fundamental part of defense.
Jalen Moore looked looks like he dragging an anchor behind him. How does he not tackle browning on the TD scramble..
Bad angle. Bad coaching. Bad football IQ.
I hope he didn’t start over Hudson or Moore..
Moore got the start over Hudson. Had hoped Hudson would take over last week with Morris on the other side, but apparently they thought they should give Moore some extra shots at targeting penalties
Shovel pass to the TE was awesome.
Direct snap to Nall worked nicely.
We are hot trash
God what a hopeless pile of shit!
Their offensive line is dominating us
This is only the 2nd game I’ve been able to sit down and watch (Minnesota).
UW looks way faster on O and D.
Are you out on parole or finished your sentence or????
“Parole” until Monday morning. Been working at least 6 days a week since June. Unless it’s a late start I don’t have time to pay attention.
Hope you get a conjugal visit…………by a woman.
We look slower than other games. Looks like some guys are hungover.
Welcome back, Snowflake.
How’s your shoulder?
Good. Wrist is a bit sore and might get more sore in 2 hours.
Mom always said……
If you don’t stop that, you could go blind
Did that pass bounce off villamins head?
Literally drilled Villamin in the head.
Yeah, he’s ready to play…
Porebski is our best weapon right now
We are Banker level defense vs QB scrambles.
Is Villiamin batting down passes? Maybe move him to defense.
Did Garretson just hit Villamin in the helmet with the football while Villy wasn’t looking? Facepalm.
I have seen enough. Andersen has got to go!!! Get Beau Baldwin this offseason, while he still might consider us, before we are down to 10-15K showing up for home games.
Write the buyout check and make the suggestion
Well put.
How much longer do we have to put up with “the Kevins”?
I see a potential sitcom there.
The Kevins…sitcom about incompetent coaches who recruit the Krebs brothers.
I see it having a short story line unless you carry the plot after they are unemployed.
Maybe after being fired they start bagging groceries while still trying to bone college girls, and have to deal with the disappointment of girls not being impressed with brown bags (unless they’re on their heads and they’re into that sort of thing) ???
A pair of regular Luther Van Damme’s?
He’s not going why don’t u get that? Unless u have millions lying around and want to buy him out. Otherwise deal with it.
The D looks like GA’s first season, what the hell happened? And as I say that, they have a good series, but I had visions of Bright and Manase dominating this year.
I suppose we can’t get too upset since the Beavers are living up to our expectations.
Very nice series on D.
Good stop by the D. Bright has looked much better today.
Don’t worry, he has plenty of time to run 20mph in a straight line past the opposing QB.
He’s been the one making the stops to keep their run plays to 2 yards. That’s more valuable than his pass rushing in this one.
It’s his birthday. Too bad he doesn’t have one every week
The inside screen should be a tyner play not nall.
No reason for the opponent to play any farther than 15 yards beyond the LOS until they figure out how to stretch the field vertically. Run the ball all you want but it’s going to be mostly tough sledding uphill.
They should try a trick play with Seth to stretch the field. IMO. But what do I know…I’m just some dude who knows more than our coaches.
Reverse was a really bad idea. They knew the play instantly.
Looked like Collins was going to throw until he saw the penetration
Go Beavs!
I wonder why we abandoned the Pistol we ran last year. Nall was able to hit the hole with more momentum rather than standing around forever in the backfield from the Shotgun. Seems like it bought us an extra two yards of failing forward on most plays.
7-0 after 1q isn’t bad! Lol
I thought ( just for a second) that garretson was gonna get a moyvau (spelled wrong I know) type block on that reverse
Straight from the rulebook:
*targeting does not apply to amphibious vermin.
Is it only targeting if it’s an OSU tackler? Collins looked like a rock em sick em robot there.
I just noticed the Fresno game is going to be on a backwater over-the-air channel called “Stadium” here in the PDX area at 7pm. I’m thinking by then watching McM might be a little more interesting then this.
That was a terrible PI call
Awful. Great defense.
And that hit on Collins sure looked like targeting too. 12th man is killing the beavs.
It kind of seems like shitty teams, get shitty calls.
Sadly it’s always seemed that way.
Prediction. Porebski’s next punt will get blocked
Our defense is actually playing quite inspired today. The offense, on the other hand…
The defense does appear to be waking up. Two weeks of practicing against a crappy offense can make you soft.
They’re going to tire out unless the offense can muster more than 2 yards per play. Take a god damn shot down the field!
They’ll tire out and give up 60 and then people will blame them.
Our D is playing okay I also think Browning looks really bad today
D giving us a chance so far. They’ve looked much better since GA started getting his hands dirty.
Found his old pair of Toughskins.
The Huskies didn’t look good against Rutgers and Rutgers is a shitty team.
Where is tyner? He is probably the fastest player on either sideline get him the ball.
Out
Not out, per radio.
I was going off what I read earlier in the week
This isn’t highschool. He’s lost a step or 2 or 3 in the last 4 years
I thought he looked really fast first few games.
Obviously a touchback from video feed.
On the first Huskies drive, our D looked like they hadn’t realized the game had started. Afterward, they’ve been really good.
Also, these announcers are terrible. I expected better for coverage of likely the best team in the conference.
Lets see some tino
I saw his RS was removed, but I don’t remember ever seeing him play….
Ya supposed 4.3 speed. I feel the o can’t stretch the field.
I say go for it.
Edit: great punt, but still, if you want to pull an upset vs #6WA you have to go for it there.
Too early
Disagree, this is where the D gets worn out. Have to go for it there and keep the D off the field and take shot at points.
The only way we’re in this still is by giving UW a long field every drive.
Porebski is killing it today
It’s about time with him!
Was that a designed QB draw?
He had Pierce open in the flat because the safety was blitzing. It was either a designed run or a bad read.
He had a weird look on his face after the play.
Haha that was PI I’ll take it!
Our punter is gonna be the MVP for us today
I still cannot WAIT for the Valley Football Center extension coming in the “fall of 2016′! Take the fucking sign down already!
Its fucking embarrassing every time I see that.
Nice fucking hit by Hungalu
Holding? Ok, who………notice how no number was mentioned, what the fuck was that?
It was like they decided the substitution wouldn’t have given them a 1st down, so they went with the phantom holding call that was nowhere hear the play
Fuck these refs
Refs = UW MVP
Ref logic: Beavs are terrible, if they make a good play it must be SOME kind of penalty. Throw a flag, figure it out later.
Sure seems that way. No replays of either penalty that kept that drive alive
Typical game…D is good for a half. O does nothing. D wears out.
Now we just need the O to start turning it over so we get blown out.
This is how the O would look with McM. No matter what qb we roll out there the result will be the same.
Nope.
#Denial
Yeah this game could go like Uw Colorado last week if our D can’t get off the field
That’s why they had to go for that 4th and 3. Really bad coaching.
a. Keep our D off the field if converted.
b. Only TDs will pull the upset, so you have to go for 4ths.
College football needs to hire Ed Hochuli for ever game.
Bullish argument for human cloning.
Husky radio announcers whining that refs are being unfair to them.
I’ve been silent about refs this year because we’ve done more than enough to screw ourselves, but these guys are terrible.
Saw Bryan Grant hanging around a couple tailgates in the parking lot. Always loved that guy.
Great punting, no turnovers and no giving up big plays keeps the score respectable.
Just wait for our halftime “adjustments.”
Goal post is defensive MVP.
We’d be winning if we had any form of an offense.
That’s funny….the P-12 Network are such fucking Husky homers they put up 10-0!
Does Garretson have a rush yet? Why aren’t they running more read option with him?
Because this turns into a Cat 5 shit storm if he gets hurt.
Aren’t we already there?
He did that strange QB draw on 3rd and 4 that did not work.
He had one on a 3rd but too short
You really want to see Blount, don’t you?
DG is going to get hurt if he runs. Luck o the Beavs.
Villy is so bad. Put in anyone over him.
He was good for one season with Mannion, and it’s been all downhill since. Something is wrong with his mind.
He’s always seemed afraid of getting hit. Throw the ball to Hernandez instead.
This! I love Hernandez as a possession type reciever
He seems to be able to catch anything nearby.
He’s reverted to his old ways of dropping passes. Wondering if it’s something to do with the relationship with the different qbs.
Is it time to bench Villamin and move one or is the talent behind him so slim?
Catch that fucking ball or say hello to the bench
Throwing on 3rd and 2.
At this point, I’m convinced if McGiven had the ball on 1st and inches, he would throw three times in a row.
Our D is playing legit great today. We have not seen this so far this season.
Fucking Hudson!
Meant in the most awesome way
Hudson has looked great, I wonder why he could not crack the starting line up at USF? I think he’s back next year.
Mike Riley clock management at its finest.
Have you seen our offense?
Can’t win if you don’t try to score.
tIMeOUT
I’m getting Mike Riley clock flashbacks
Unfortunately, I think our “stay the course” approach to halftime adjustments will prove catastrophic. Overall though a good half of football. Major props to the D.
The first Husky drive the D looked like shit, but since then it’s been incredible. Is this GA taking over?
Jake Browning looks really bad. He is nowhere near Luke Falk
Time for the, up until now, dreaded half time adjustments. Here’s hoping………
You mean the Craig Robinson non-adjustment half-time adjustments?
You adjusted to another sport but yeah, that adjustment. :-)
*the Beav adjustment
Browning is holding onto it way too long today, he seems a little out of sorts st times. Good for us!
Good coverage from Dunn and Crawford.
What might be the biggest difference in defensive improvement: safety play.
Brandon Arnold was an absolute liability in coverage early on. Morris was an immediate upgrade and he’s getting better every week. Hudson seems to be coming into his own as well- seems a lot better than Moore.
Is Moore playing nickel back? He’s been on the field a lot, but I haven’t looked to see where he’s lined up.
He’s a hard hitter, but he’s a liability.
Moore’s pretty much a bad ass.
Arnold and Moore were both weak links in the early games. No surprise the D is better without them.
Arnold, Ugh.
HOLY CRAP – – I’ve just realized that the first half HAS NOT HURT RECRUITING!
Go BEAVS!
No. Some people would like to see snaps under center, instead of spotting UW 8 extra yards each run
Go BEAVS!!!
No. You guys sucked with that. I had to sign up sling tv
GO BEAVS!!!
I did SlingTV to finally get the P-12 Network, it has been a very nice feed.
This is the offensive game plan we all asked for, right?
^^^^^^this^^^^^^^
Thankfully Browning seems to go down really easily.
Beware – Chris Petersen halftime on husky radio – says they need to start running more.
*throws three consecutive plays
Four
Yes. Nice coverage on the kick. #GoBruceRead
That was a really horrible PI call. Great coverage by Irvine. Like, textbook.
P12 needs a top 5 team next week
Apparently refs got the message at the half that the beavs were not allowed to actually play it close to the dogs
Nice shit of Willis getting thrown down with no holding call there
Refs hand Washington 15-30 yards every drive
Fuck, that can’t happen on 4th and 10. That is what a coaching advantage does for you.
Washington goes on 4th and 10 because they have seen just how Back our offense is.
Nothing to lose. They’ll get the ball right back.
*bad
It shouldn’t have even been 4th and 10. There was a blatant hold right over the ball that wasn’t called.
Well their kicker is shitty and they were to close to the ez to punt so there’s that
Is the wrestling coach doubling as our DB coach?
Look at all the yards the run run run the ball offense racks up.
There’s no variety or creativity. Just horrible.
You forget about that reverse that went for -9 yards?
Wow, such creative play calls to start a must score drive!
No matter the players, Mcgiven continues to impress
The common theme I see watching OSU is that every analyst criticizes OSU play-calling and strategy.
At Colorado State, I believe Rick Neuheisel was criticizing the lack of run attempts. During this game, they’re criticizing the inability or lack of downfield play calls to at least try to keep the defense honest. If every single fucking announcer or analyst can see this, why can’t GA?
Mcgiven sucks balls. Thanks for nothing.
So the run, run, run offense doesn’t work. And the chuck the ball down the field offense doesn’t work either.
Try punting on 1st down.
There’s that patented “Three & Out” Kevin McGiven offense to start the half
We could have Tom Brady back there and we would still have zero chance. Lack of creative play calling, playmakers at receiver, and a dumpster fire for an O line and this is what you get
DG did throw a shitty ball. Wily was open.
Cue the second half blowout
Yep. Defense fading and adjustments where made by Washington. And our offense is still sucking balls.
Stop or turnover here or it’s over.
No O, it was over before it started
Our DB’s are bad at their job.
So are their coaches.
Fuck you Jimmy Johns!
Granted Pettis made the catch anyway, but holding?
Not that it matters, but that Dunn holding call looked like it was a Pac12 ref bailout call, just in case UW needed it. Was there any hint of holding by Dunn?
None, but the PAC 12 needs a top 5 team next week.
None that I saw
Replay they just showed had a better view. He grabbed him and then gave up on the play
We need a game manager at QB………..oh wait never mind.
I think I’m going to go check out some other games, there as to be one or two more interesting than this one.
Considering the refs have decided to alter the course of this game, can’t blame you.
If you don’t think refs are told by the conference to further the interests of the conference (i.e. keep top teams on top) then the shoe companies are completely clean with college basketball.
Udub took it further and is providing hookers for the refs.
Woof.
3 straight passes is what Mcgiven will call. Any Takers?
So thankful to God I had the good sense to give my tickets away…and that wasyeasy
ere was holding at the line of scrimmage on that td. Should have been called.
Does Garretson just not have the arm strength to throw it farther than about 15 yards?
“McM arm”
Your not allowed to say that or your a science denier.
Great, another Beav star injured on a late hit that is ignored by the fucking refs.
Hey, we’re crossed mid field for the first time today!
But then we fumbled it….
Luck O….
Honest question, does an OSU receiver have a catch tonight?
Bradford had one early, if you consider Bradford a wr
Go Beavs!!
There’s the second half Beavs we all know and love
Fucking Morris!
Again, meant in the most awesome way!
It’s Nevada and Fresno. McMaryion is 2 for 2 and a TD
Watching Fresno? Is that why you said your wrist was going to be sore in 2 hours? :p
Looks like TT is 1st string now.
Has Johnson been on the field at all tonight?
Has Johnson played at all today? Is he on the shit list for some reason?
Just got the wind knocked out of him. Walk it off!
Fuck. They brought their A game. Damn you Ed Ray. Why did you give away the secret.
Defense playing well enough to be in this game. Offense pissing it away yet again. How does McGiven have a job?
DG chucking it into double coverage counts as variety, I guess.
First Nall on a nothing play, then AP on the helmet to the knee, come on transfers…
That’s our 3rd and long call?
Anyone have a link to the Fresno game?
Per ESPN it’s Nevada and Fresno. McMaryion is 2 for 2 and a TD
Kneepads.com
Is that the Monica Lewinsky startup?
No onegivesashitanymore.com
Fuck McGiven. That piece of shit needs to be fired.
+1000
Elu terrible getting off that block
Our offensive woes must be punishment from the great beaver in the sky for accepting a duck on the team.
Haha, McMaryion 2 for 2 with a TD in the first minute.
Against mighty Nevada. Hip Hip!!!!!
Agree. Nevada is no barometer. They might be worse than us.
When Fresno plays a team with a pulse we’ll have a better idea.
That being said, he would still be our best QB option by a mile, and we’d have likely scored at least 14 pts. tonight.
Well, we know McGiven isn’t calling plays for him
2 for 2? Holy shit, Heisman on the horizon.
4-4 now, and I’m sure soon we’ll hear “oh anyone can beat Nevada”….(except our QB/team).
Jeezus holding all over the field on Washington, not a flag to be seen…
Ultimately it comes down to the offense, but just too many critical 3rd and long or 4th downs given up, which has killed the otherwise good defensive play.
GA GOTS TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!
RUN THE PROGRAM INTO THE DUMPSTER!!!!!!!
Still lots of time left
It’s fun when they run the plays where they boink vilamin with the ball
Hehehe, you said boink
DG sucks.
Wait, I thought y’all were begging for DG. Make up your fucking minds.
On to the third shitty QB!
Goes to show, the most popular QB is always the backup
Honestly, the results aren’t any worse than Luton.
Nor any better…suppose the constant (Mcgiven) may be the issue?
McMaryion 4 for 4, 40 yards and a TD before his WR fumbled…
GA sure knows how to pick them.
It’s time to let it go.
The moment you let go of a coach making non-merit decisions and a coaches inability to analyze the best player is the moment you get exactly what you deserve. And it’s why you are suffering through this mess while I laugh at GA’s decision and just how obvious it was. I want to spread that message as a public service.
Your laughter is a thin veil trying to hide the suffering.
Nah. Frustration at people’s incompetence, yeah.
McGiven needs to be demoted/fired right after this game. Simply atrocious offensive playcalling.
He’s also in GA’s ear on who the best QBs are, per GA, since GA “doesn’t know much about offense”….
Again
Washington announcers having a good chuckle at OSU’s expense. I can’t believe McGiven won’t be fired after this. Defeat is one thing, sheer ineptitude another.
The worst part about all this is that the defense played their freaking hearts out tonight before they ran out of energy. We were absolutely in this game even down 14-0 thanks to their efforts, and McGiven just takes a big steaming dump all over their work.
It’s been that way ever game until the half. Some where just blinded by the final score and how fatigue works.
I would disagree that it’s been that way every game. The offense has always been terrible, but the defense was also terrible to start the season. They’ve shown steady improvement however, and I think Clune’s redeemed himself in my eyes tonight.
It’s GA, not Clune
Actually it is. GA “got involved” with the day to day running of the defense this last week.
Best showing of the year.
Even an average offense, and this game changes completely. Give the D some reason to play hard the 2nd half.
But no.
The D has been good for a half in every game. The O hasn’t been good ever.
We pressured the QB quite a bit vs CSU.
Yeah this game has been markedly different. D showed up for this one, big time.
How long will “running out of energy” be used as an acceptable excuse?
Too exhausted to explain..
I don’t usually pay attention to the up/down votes, but can’t believe someone voted BeaverBeliever down!
Maybe the part about being “absolutely in this game”?
McMaryion 9-9 for 68 yards and a TD.
God this is great. Egg all over GA.
I think Gary’s probably more preoccupied with losing to Washington than McMaryion’s performance at this point.
It’s fucking Nevada who is 0-4 and lost to Idaho St. DG and McM are basically the same QB both “game managers”
That’s a pretty small YPC. MM was always good at hitting short passes.
Really? What does your fairy tale have to do with anything?
Left the TV at halftime. At a Colin Hay concert.
Who can it be now?
You might even think you’re watching 1984 Beav football. Not many men at work.
Porebski is from the land down under isn’t he?
Ok, here is the spot
Spinning blindfolded people to find a small spot mid-field to win tuition? What kind of bullshit is that? Better odds winning Powerball.
No shit.
It’s not about tuition, it’s about distracting fans from the putrid product Anderpants crapped on to the field.
Angry has already rubbed out 2 loads watching McM dominating mighty Nevada.
Marcus 12-13 for 107 yards and a TD. Fresno up 10-0.
Time to start the “Nevada sucks” chants.
Let me ask you this: does Luton or DG put up those points or stats vs NV? Nope.
No way to know we don’t play Nevada this year.
Did you see how we played against Portland State?
“Hey honey, what happened to that box of kleenex that was full this morning?”
Better question may be…. would Marcus do that against Nevada with our line / receivers and more importantly our play calling….: if GA doesn’t make a move after this…. when will he?
Villamin caught a pass!!!!
Petersen needs to play a backup qb. Mass subs time.
Speaking of backups,,,,, is it time for OSU to play the backup QB?
Washington announcers calling the team Oregon half the time. Pointing out almost as many yards in penalties as in offense.
The more people think this team is Oregon the better
That’s funny.
Luton couldn’t even do that vs PSU.
This is making me all nostalgic for my undergrad days at dear old OSU.
Why isn’t Blount playing? Get him some game minutes.
Gary Anderson, ‘our first string is not playing well enough, so we need to give them more game reps.’
He’s warming up for the post game concert: Goodbye My Lover
Did UW’s Rudy just score a TD on us?
Washington announcers giggling about the 3rd down chainsaw.
Everybody does.
Highlight: dude just called that ginger out for fucking with his phone on camera.
Are we the only team in the country with a LB returning kickoffs?
I’m pretty sure New Mexico did it some years ago.
By the way, Nevada is 0-4. They are probably worse than we are, shockingly.
Probably isn’t fair to Portland State.
FIRE MCGIVEN!!!!!!!!
FIRE GA if he won’t FIRE MCGIVEN!!!!!
FIRE ED RAY if he won’t FIRE GA for not FIRING MCGIVEN!!!!!
Mcgiven is a great person and a well respected coach. He’ll of a recruiter. Give him time.
I hope that’s sarcasm
Or his wife.
Fire Matt Wells!!!!!!!!
7 minutes left and Kevin is still calling the same play over consecutively
“I swear, it’s going to work one of these times!”
Stanford calls the same play over and over with small variations.
Are they smart enough to change it up when it’s not working?
This isn’t the low point.
Losing to Minnie is the low point.
Tre Johnson is a good back. Might be our best back. Deserves more touches.
Speaks in the 3rd person too
Posts to AB from sidelines: bonus points.
McMaryion 14/15 170 yards, TD.
Boy does a boring noodle armed game manager sound good right about now.
Beating it to death has a double meaning.
Is this where deadlifting comes from?
You are:
A. wrong about intent
b. Not answering the question
Doubt it highly.
If MM was the starter from the beginning, we would have been led by a milquetoast coward who probably would have run away during the first game.
Look at that noodle arm throw it for a 65 yard gain (45 in the air, with perfect placement)
https://twitter.com/FresnoStateFB/status/914321679756619776
Jack has no idea how to analyze QBs. I tried to say it as nicely as possible to him in order to avoid 100 crazy responses. But calling McM noodle arm just proves he knows shit. Maybe he should change his name to jack shit. Hah.
He’ll come up with some hamster wheel rationalization for the 45 yard pass, like there was a tornado and the wind took it.
Any chance M3 is doing well (at least against Nevada) because he finally has competent coaches?
He had all day to throw. Check the ol.
I don’t understand. Is he at least doing well against a team that makes the scrubs in garbage time of his previous games look good… because he finally has competent coaches?
I can buy that.
But that doesn’t give MM anything but a noodle arm.
What a heel
Comeback!
Thankfully for Kevin, injuries at key positions will buy him more time to get his resume together.
Beavs score, so there goes the shutout and McGiven’s pink slip. He’s guaranteed another three games as OC – offense is turning the corner.
Washington announcers getting a big kick out of the “2 fireworks” that went off. Giggled about how few people are there, and not much chance to use fireworks at Oregon State. “Use ’em or lose ’em. ”
Tee hee.
I would like to hear some old broadcasts of when those fuckers were 0-12.
Did someone say 0-12?
I could have sworn someone said 0-12.
It must be my imagination.
Nobody sucks that bad… ever.
So next week a pissed off USC squad? That should be good.
TV announcers recommending the Beavs get Garretson more outside keepers; a recipe for a season ender vs the Spoiled Children!
If we don’t talk about it, maybe USC will forget to show up?
I love hearing that chainsaw on third down as time runs out in the game of a 42-7 loss. Awesomeness
That was pretty pathetic.
And it sounds more like a weed whacker live than it does on TV. Can’t we get Randy with a log instead?
Wait….
Solid respect of the Beavs from Petersen: “they do some good things”.
Obviously he meant on defense, not so much on offense
He managed to say it without laughing. A true classy professional.

“Injuries” is the new “little things.” Just wait.
So the anti McMaryion arguments so far:
You are 100% correct.
Finally. Thank you.
Was anyone really arguing that handling of McM wasn’t messed up? The argument is against you turning him into Tim Tebow
I never said anything other than he should be the starter. The clear best of the bunch.
My frustration over this situation and drilling it home has more to do with my inability to comprehend how a P5 coach can’t see something that I can.
MM made sure there was no choice.
Don’t blame the coaches for you not being able to prove a negative.
I think you’re arguing with 3 or 4 people.
Yeah, just people like angry@angry, Jackshit, and forgot other couple.
You forgot to change your name.
Steve Gress with the GA press conference comment:
Andersen said he didn’t know why Hodgins didn’t play. He should know why he wasn’t out there. Passes the buck to assistants. Not good look
He didn’t know why Jay Irvine didn’t play earlier this year, too.
Well… now we know why.
You can go fuck yourself for trying.
McLovin makes Langsdork look like Chip Kelley.
Ducks in a blowout to add insult to injury!
Herbert to the locker room, time to see what their backup QB looks like
Missed the game but came home to see the score.
I just watched Mike Hass highlights on the “12 best” after the game and quietly wept.
Go Beavs as always, but damn
Honestly the defense was solid. Seems weird to say that with a 42-7 game, but the offense was so so bad.
What’s weird is it’s been exactly that way in every game yet nobody saw it.
At least this game cemented that the O is the real problem. Very obvious from snap 1 of the season if you know football.
No, they are both still a problem.
Both can be bad and both are bad.
Both are bad, O is way worse and the main problem. Specifically QB and play calling.
I’m not so sure McGiven is “on his last leg”; GA seems pretty stubborn and attached to the idea of “getting the old band back together”. Hope I’m wrong.
I have no idea what to think of it all. GA has given him a bunch of rope. He’s hung himself several times.
Maybe zombies do exist.
Andersen seems to be getting fed up with the offensive ineptitude in the post game interview but then says it’s on me. Jesus get a real coordinator or resign already
McMaryion another 40 yard TD.
20-23, 260, 2TD.
Is he the best “Mc-3rd string”, noodle-armed, boring game manager ever? Poor A@A.
Yeah I think we’d be a totally different team with him at the helm from game 1.
Let it go already. Quit stalking your ex and move on.
Translation:
How’d he do in the second half?
We would not be a different team with him from the start. McGiven would have fallen in love with his game against Zony and made all the same calls.
He’s McGiven.
Why didn’t we fire/demote McLovin during the bye? That would have been the obvious time. New QB and two weeks to prepare. I know that the playbook wouldn’t have changed that much but it was the perfect chance to hit the reset.
I have an idea. Fire McLoving, bring in Dennis Erickson and his ticking time bomb liver.
I’d take him in a heartbeat, it’s an upgrade. Of course just about anyone would b
Well done 3M
Fire Andersen
I believe that since the Beavs change logo to the Nutria we have been on a steep downward spiral.
I was really excited by the first half play, and can’t quite come to grips with the abrupt turnaround in the second half. The fire was flaming hot!
I blame everything on the Nutria!
You are on to something.
That might be something. We’ve only been successful when we’ve had a smeared poop stain as a logo.
We must go back to the smeared poop stain!
The name of the blog should be changed to the Angry McMarions
The angry non-Ducks who at least know what the name of their former QB is?
Freeman & mitchelle also hurt for the quacks. Cal is trying their best to be worse on offense then we are
Oregon loses Herbert, Freeman and Mitchell to injury and their offense suddenly looks as bad as Oregon State’s offense
Should say it’s as bad as Oregon State’s offense when at full strength
So we’re second worse behind them you say, I’ll take it.
I blame the head coach for the assessment of qb. Mcmaryion should have been given the keys bar none.
But let’s fire our qb coach and move on.
It would have made zero difference.
Cal with a huge INT.
TD, Cal.
Shows how important the right QB is. Herbert out, hack comes in, game completely changes and suddenly Oregon D looks terrible. Shocker.
CU QB gets punched in the nuts by the tackler. Ouch.
Marcus picked off.
I don’t mind the AC/DC music. You can make that work as in stadium music but yeah lame to have a video teaching fans what to do when it comes on.
And the chainsaw makes me want to punch my TV every time I hear it. That sound effect should NEVER be played.
But But I want to crank it like a chainsaw don’t you.
That was more than embarrassing.
Marines do not wear visors.
Bullet sponges wear whatever the fuck they’re told to wear.
That’s why I respect them.
Chip Kelly looks like Barney Rubble.
Barney Rubble could out coach GA at this point.
Betty Rubble could.
BamBam?
GA signed him, but he still has to pass his bowling class.
Best team in any history!
Oh… did Matt Wells not do well today?
Sorry… Baldwin? Someone else?
Let’s hear the finances on your homer call that actually makes sense.
I’m intrigued.
Can we just generally agree on the following:
* McM better than most of us thought initially
* GA and crew don’t know what the hell they are doing with QBs and handled LDR and McM situation like crap
* McM is marginally better than the QBs we have now but at least he won some games (albeit against horrible defenses.)
* Angry has a beaver boner for McM
Cool?
Yep spot on
*McM was downplayed by GA and Co which allowed everyone to jump on the anti McM bandwagon
Gus transferred?? I better quit drinking
Lavaka?
No I need to quit drinking… I was thinking about Will Hopkins that transferred… but the premise is the same… our line didn’t do crap for the qb or backs last year until Harlow came back (and we hit the weak part of our scheduale) this year it is the same….even when we try to run we don’t get much push. I know angry and some say we have some good young guys getting bulked up but until I see it I have a hard time believing we will see much success no matter who the qb or back or wr is…. but bottom line if GA wants to be hands off on offense…. he needs to make a change to his staff and now….
Those two often get confused for each other. That’s why Hopkins transferred, I think.
https://ibb.co/fszFtw
UW is just that much better than we are. Don’t pretend that even a great O-line can work it aganst that front six. I was rather impressed by ours and our commitment to the run. They had safeties creeping into the box. That’s the first time I’ve seen UW do that this year.
And we were rarely behind the chains on 3rd down. That was nice to see. I wish we would have built that foundation in game 1.
I don’t know why Villy can’t catch any passes from anyone not named Mannion or Luton. Our conversion on 3rd would have been much better if he didn’t drop passes… or get pegged in the head by them.
Vil was frustrating to watch last night for sure….so many physical tools but he can’t seem to put them together…
Don’t try reason.
It doesn’t work.
I was right about MM in 2015, and I’m right about MM in 2017.
Try again.
Good fucking riddance.
Hay, the weather was nice got drunk before the game and was oh too sobering by the end.
Win any tuition?
Nope, but either did any of the students. The Football team sure didn’t either
Ducks look like they are wearing yoga pants
You’re telling me those aren’t yoga pants?
don’t know about yoga pants… in fact, yoga pants are much more fun to look at than those tushes
But the black really is ugly with that Kelly green.
Forgive me if this was posted already but remember before Ga ran off Marcus there was also Del Rio.
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/florida-gators/os-gators-media-day-mike-bianchi-0804-20160803-column.html
Jesus, Andersen is just stupid.
Who are you talking to?
And why is he stupid?
Must be you if you can’t read what he said.
Maybe be?
Are you ready to recap what he said in detail?
Or are you going to wimp out because you thought you could bully me with your stupidity like you do with everyone else on the interwebs?
I’m actually interested in your particular take. I will have something to say about it. But I want to hear how you are not a whiny victim who was never really a victim, just whiny.
Or… oh yeah?
Must be you… boomerang.
fucking morons
Hmmm… I wonder who edits their posts in order to make them make sense.
How did “Maybe be” end up being “Must be”?
You complain about snowflakes, but you’re a fucking snowdrift.
This team is headed for 1-11. That says stupid quite nicely.
We don’t get to play Cal or ASU?
Is that what was said?
Thanks, always appreciate your contribution here.
Post game presser video. I haven’t seen it yet, but in actuality, I’ve seen if several times already over the past 2 1/2 years. Just switch out the team names, wash , rinse, repeat.
https://youtu.be/h-ihvscRd8o
Actually, I take it back. That was possibly the most depressing press conference I’ve ever seen after a football game. I think I’m going to go tie a belt around my neck and well…..you know….
Sad situation!!
Well GA if you are going to take responsibility take it…. know what your offense is doing…. know where your players are as far as during the game…or for god sakes get rid of McCrappy and hire an offensive mind that doesn’t make you look like an idiot every Saturday night when you have to answer those questions…
agreed
Think about Marcus?
Aurelius?
Pants on, hands off, can’t win
No need to feel bad boys, there is always the next decade.
Feel bad about what?
What is there to feel bad about?
Seeing rumors that Herbert is done for season with Broken collar bone.
Duck fans also speculating Freeman is done, after they burn their freshman running back Felix’s redshirt.
Who the hell pluses that?
It is what it is, but don’t celebrate injury. I thought we had a bunch of low-level Duck minds lurking and commenting. But plusing that makes me think we just have a couple dicks who pose with seven different handles.
Not me jax, is I’m a Beaver through and through! I just like to pester you, cause you sound like a loon
You should have used your other handle.
All is not lost, we did get a new commit tonigjt, I’ve been told.
Not sure who yet, but I would keep my eye on Victor Terry (or Levengood, or Thomas) Wouldnt be surprised if we end up with all 3 eventually.
Cool.
Are they players?
They committed for free tuition w/o having to be embarrassed on the football field while blindfolded. They wanted to be able to see it from the sideline for 4 seasons.
You’re going to have to explain that joke.
Cool.
Bye.
GA couldn’t even answer a question about having a different offensive approach with DG at QB. “When I’m trying to do what I do, I can’t handle every little thing.”
What the hell is GA doing during games then?
Or the two weeks they were preparing for this game
I thought you were done with OSU.
The obvious next question, which I was waiting for…..
https://youtu.be/StIcRH_e6zQ
Florida 38- Vandy 24. Luke DelRio 7/11, 64 yards. On the season 16/25, 1 int. 115 qb rating.
Yeah. And a broken Collarbone, out for season.
Luck O da Beavs is hard to cure.
You don’t have to rub his sucking in. He’s hurt.
Let him be.
Pac coaches are bound by ships. Once given, you can’t tell anyone you’re going to take it away.
Sorry to burst that bullshit narrative.
Was told we might be hearing about a verbal pledge by Aguir Agau today, for MBB
McM liked this tweet about how the staff should go for running the QB out of town:
https://twitter.com/angrybeavs/status/914314356120109057
Very interesting. Cue Jack to blame him for knowing he was the best QB, wanting to start, being a model teammate/citizen/student, and getting completely hosed by GA.
Model teammates aren’t chickenshits who run away from adversity.
Only a loser would stay and sit 3rd string for a coach like GA who doesn’t user a merit system. Just deal with it, man.
Only a loser runs away from adversity while pretending to be a leader.
Whatever you need to justify it, man.
You’re talking about Gary Andersen, right?
That’s all I’m considering. Honorable people don’t up and quit because of a little adversity. If he knew he was going to leave, he should have done so as soon as he graduated. Instead, he wastes a bunch of time and creates a bunch of unnecessary drama because he’s a widdle fwustwated.
*sniffle*
I will give him credit for at least running away before the camp rosters were set. That would have been double shitty. But then… he couldn’t have taken away a ship from a walk-on at Fresno if he hadn’t hurried.
Yeah MM, look at your walk-ons and wonder which one feels like you stole the ship they earned.
Praise your weak god who tells you that being a chickenshit is the right thing to do.
Now you care about Fresno walk-ons?
Only the optics as they pertain to your chickenshit Jesus… because optics is all you got on this one.
Instead, he pretended to be a leader and a teammate when in reality he was just a chickenshit poser.
angry, your musings are irrational.
I’m only pointing out the depths to which you are willing to chase that irrationality.
That’s kinda petty
went to the game.
I noticed that, too. I’m wondering what needs to happen…other than acquiring a new coaching staff.
I wish he was still here. I liked him. I backed him.
He shat on me.
He can go to hell.
Belay my last. Hell is better than Fresno.
Did it ever dawn on you the maybe GA treated MMM the same way he treated LDR?
‘Say Marcus, Just want to let you know you’ll never play another down for the Beavers. Have a nice practice.’
I would want to go where I had a chance to play.. Wanting to play has nothing to do with being a chickenshit, coward.
Is that what was said verbatim?
I remember when the majority here thought Geoff was going to be a bad NFL QB, too…
Enough already. We know everyone here are idiots and you have a far superior sports mind.
It’s also clear that your parents did not compliment you enough as a child and you’ve been forced into self-affirmation. Is it possible for you to make an observation that doesn’t compliment yourself or infer that everyone else is inferior?
Translation: you thought Geoff would be a bad NFL QB.
Fuck, you got me. I’m a closet Geoff hater, even though I don’t know who the fuck Geoff is.
I think it’s Jeff George.
Who’s Geoff? Do you mean Jared Goff?
Overhyped
No.
Angry clearly knew and said he was a turrible QB.
