Should be intriguing to see what Nolan can do.
Go Beavs.
This game is huge for the Beavs. Need the momentum of winning back to back PAC games rather than this one step forward, two back thing we’re doing. Game to get them over the hump and become a true upstart.
I’m sticking with Utah winning a close game (due to refs and history at Utah), but Beavs certainly have a good shot, and with Nolan there’s a wildcard there.
Muahaha
Division results currently breaking our way. UW goes down and Ducks losing to Cal (early, but still.)
Too bad LodB strikes again.
It’s 2020. Nolan and Baylor combine for 340 rushing yards and 4 TDs. Champ Fleming’s busts out of the crowd with 3 TDs and 207 yds. Rashed has 9 TOL and 2 FF while the D has a combined 4 turnovers. Hayes hits a 51 harder and nails 7 extra points. Beavs 52 Utah 51
Flemings? Did you eat some of angrys goodies?
Just 2020 fear fuel.
Why does it matter? Even if we win out, we can’t win given Washington isn’t making up their game.
Washington loses to Oregon next week and Cal beats Oregon combined with us winning out
Wouldn’t Washington win due to head-to-head? Or is common opponent the first tie breaker?
The 3 teams would all have beat 1 and lost to one of that happens.
I would personally think that since Oregon and Oregon state had 1 more game it would go to the Beavs because the head to head. But Cal needs to get back to playing good football…. and of course Beavs gotta step up tonight and have a breakout performance from Nolan. I have expectations on a L but I will be so stoked to be wrong
Just looked it up. Head to head is the tiebreaker. The only chance we would have would be UW’s last game getting canceled, then they would be ineligible.
Pretty stupid that having a game canceled is actually an advantage, but hey, it’s 2020 in the PAC-12.
I wish they’d just let Cal/Wash make that game up. Stupid to cancel it outright.
That’s nuts. If Beavs and Ducks go 4-2 in conference they should be first and second in the conference based on win percentage. since UW would be 3-2.
In the event of an unbalanced schedule where there is a tie for the best record in the loss column, head-to-head results will take precedence over winning percentage
https://pac-12.com/article/2020/10/19/pac-12-releases-game-cancellation-policy-updated-tiebreakers-2020-football
OSU needs a 3 way tie and they win the Division… OSU wins out… 4-2.. Oregon loses to Cal and beats UW Oregon is 4-2.. then UW would be 3-2..
Because they would all have 2 loses would be considered 3 way tie.. First tie break is head to head.. if it ends up like i showed then all 3 are 1-1 vs other 2 teams…
Next would be record vs common opponent and that would be Stanford.. UW lost to Stanford and Oregon beat Stanford.. if OSU wins out they would have win vs Stanford also.. in that scenario UW would be out because of loss and it would come down to OSU vs Oregon and OSU would win due to head to head
Hope that explains it
Cheers to a good game. No injuries and of course, a Beavs’ victory :D
Go Beavs!
If I am still awake by game time, I will more than likely be shitfaced, so I would like to apologize for any offense comments I may make ahead of time.
Go Beav’s!!
Well I ate an edible…figured it’s a way to get through this game without the calories of drinking. What I didn’t realize is I ate 25mg. Only 3rd time with edibles, so totally went overboard. If I get weird apologies in advance.
You’re gonna puke.
-angry before kickoff-
https://youtu.be/ZeJXcf2Oc2U
That’s a hefty dose lol
Holy shit angry. Last time I touched weed was about 2 years ago. I ate ate a 10mg candy, and I was in bad bad shape. All I thought about was how I couldn’t wait until I was normal again… it was miserable.
Hoping for the best for you though. Hopefully your mind is blown with chance Nolan looking like Patrick mahomes
Oh I ate 25mg last night as well, not having a clue what I was doing and that there was a lag. Got through it fine. Only issue was when I woke at 9am I was still stoned.
I only learned tonight *after* taking the dose that it’s a ton. My friend told me 2.5mg to 5mg is where I should be. Oops.
Nice, Cal scores.
I wonder if Mario lost that locker room. Ducks seem apathetic.
The “win with line play” Ducks just got stuffed on 3rd and short and 4th and short in FG range.
I think we broke them.
The dam’s been breached
Ducks driving again, Shough fumbles it away.
Looks like bad play calling to me. Pretty much everything they’re doing is working, yet they decide to run RPO multiple times when Shough’s been getting beat up all game.
I think we broke them
Seriously, I do think our no name safety broke CJ Verdell.
And another loss for Smith. Good job 0-2 Utes. Beavs beat the youngest team in the nation last week and shot their wad in their annual Super Bowl. Back to losing again. Lmao. Smith now 9-20. Nolan is impressive. Lmao
Va Tech f’d up. Got a huge INT and then fumbled on the first play.
And then fucked up again…
Canzano says he thinks a 3 way tie with Oregon and Washington would give OSU the tiebreaker. He posted the scenarios if someone can explain how it would break down better than me.
He’s wrong. Here’s the rule coped straight from the P12 site:
In determining the divisional champions, the following will apply: If any team(s) has not played six (6) Conference games (due to not being able to reschedule a postponed Conference game) and any team(s) is within one Conference win from the team(s) with the highest conference winning percentage AND has an equal number of losses, those teams shall be declared tied.
The first tiebreaker is head to head results.
I stand corrected.
If Oregon, Washington, and OSU are considered tied. Here are the tiebreakers:
Head-to-head (best record in games among the tied teams) (all teams 1-1)
Record in games played within the division
OSU’s record will be 3-2 if they win out
Oregon will be 3-2
UW will be 1-2
UW gets eliminated, then it goes to head-to-head and OSU wins.
I haven’t seen his post. But Oregon state and Oregon would be 4-2 in this scenario. Washington would be 3-2.
All three teams would have beat one and lost to the other, similar to the 2000 fiesta bowl year. But Washington would have 1 less game in. Therfor I think Oregon state vs Oregon would be tied at winning percentage. And Oregon state would have the head to head win. Therfor I do think Beavs would get in.
Cal has to win and beavers obviously have to win as well
So after head to head, and if all 3 teams were tied, than it goes to record in division to eliminate 1 team. If this eliminated UW, then OSU and UO would be final two teams and then OSU would have head to head tiebreaker. So that is the theoretical breakdown if the records actually make for this.
Go Beavs. Go Cal.
That is my theory and seems like the most simple way of handling it.
Won’t mean anything unless Nolan and the Beavs play really well this week. And Cal wins. Than we are duck fans next week as well beavers fans.
If Beavs aren’t in the running by losing either this weekend or next, I would love to hear the train wreck if the ducks lose three in a row. Here’s to hoping next weekend matters.
Cal won 21-17.
Hope that explains it
GoBeavs and GoCal
I’ll drink to that!
Ducks offense really choking this one away, but Cal is doing their best not to win.
Wow was Cal stupid
Is Wannabeav their interim HC?
Hey!
Their game management has been horrible. Even if your kicker is bad, you should be milking the clock before you get to the 3 minute mark when you’re driving all over the opposing D. Then the obvious horrible running plays where you’re guaranteeing the Ducks enough time to drive instead of taking a chance on getting another first down.
Remember everyone that wanted us to hire Beau?
LOL another fumble and Ducks lose
MWAHAHAHAHAHHA!
Quacks fumble with 52 seconds left!
Well Cal did their part. On to Da’ Beavs.
Nolan is going to get his Chance!
Looking forward to that super Yuck honk reacting to this result. Bwahahaha.
Don’t forget Nemec. Last weeks suicide attempt failed. This week he’s trying with Mark Helfrichs jockstrap hanging from the garage rafters.
“I should make it a personal policy to never, ever try to guess what P12 officials will decide.”
LOL
Ouch!
Truer words were never spoke…
No shit…
Beavsblow is dead
Mario finally getting exposed. I called it.
I think he still has a sound philosophy and they’ll be able to recruit pretty well. His teams will continue to be above average.
that would be a minor prediction compared to OSU starting out 0-2 and winning the North, like you’ve been predicting. totally implausible at one point.
Schadenfreude all up in this bitch. 24/7 ran an article about Cristobal being on UTs short list if they fire Herman. Lol
If he goes does the pretty boy strength coach follow?
That guy sure likes TV time.
Notice the fruity mustache painted on his face mask?
Wilcox and Cal won it because they made the “right” call by going for it rather than attempting the field goal.
Sorry, just wanted to get that out of the way
thanks.
Man, COVID has really messed up the Sagarin rankings. PSU entered the day 1-5 and ranked #21.
Utah has bad pass defense with 3 freshman. If they can protect him he could have a good game passing.
I’ll stick with the 28-24 win even without jefferson and Gebbia.
Go Beavs!
Nolan looks pretty calm and poised in those pre-game throws they’re showing. Maybe he ate 25mg, too.
Defense starting like shit….
Just doing their usual thing
Giving them that false sense of confidence and then we’ll break their will with a Jermar TD on his first play.
Have to be a Baylor td run but regardless I’d take it!
It’s ok, we’ll wait to halftime then adjust
Offense needs to milk the clock as much as possible in the first half.
Is it me or does this ESPN PBP guy kind of sound like Mike Parker?
I hear it
What’s with these announcers?
Sound like they’re in a HS gym.
Broadcasting remotely.
Ah.
Super weird.
Pro tip. Turn off the sound.
Home school, not high school.
They’re on Zoom. Literally phoning it in.
I like the all out blitz there.
If Bentley didn’t suck, that would have been a wide open TD.
Yeah, but they forced the bad throw. Good aggressive in that situation. Shitty QB, short field, etc.
I guess if you know your D sucks, you might as well gamble.
Jesus Christ Flemings is gonna get killed on one of these kickoffs
Thought the same thing…
More dumb KR decisions
Utah QB with an injured hand. If that happened to me it would ruin my sex life!
you couldn’t steer that rig either.
Who was the 2nd guy who got hurt for Utah? 2 injuries already. Sheesh
OK: this is what we’ve been waiting for boys & girls: a first time starter lighting it up, just like always happens to OSU it seems.
Remember: OSU QB’s are 1-10 in their first starts in the last 15 years.
one can always hope
Past performance is not….
That’s what’s known in Logic classrooms as the “Luck o’ Da Beavs” argument.
So you’re saying there’s a Chance?
Who won?
Cody Vaz in his only good performance ever
Promising start!
He’s almost as fast as Sean Mannion!
Oh no it’s Mike McGabe officiating
Kenny Rogers is having Flemings bring it out every time hoping he’ll get blackjack some day.
Nice. Dual threat. And up tempo. Utah didn’t see this on game film.
I like rushing yards. More please.
How about holding penalties?
I prefer them on the other team =)
Damn it.
classic.
We’ve got Derek Anderson 2.0!!!
It was a beautiful spiral
Get some more Cognac…
oops
Ah, those great instincts we’ve been hearing about all week.
Welcome to D1 football Chance
I miss Gebbia.
Yep. It’s tough on Nolan especially without JJ available. I posted a few days ago, throw high % routes to build his confidence.
I miss Jefferson more. Remember when Gebbia threw that pick off the lineman’s helmet in his first game? I like Nolan’s running so far but man that last pick looked really bad. Let’s get some short throws going, get this guy in a rhythm.
Well, lack of experience in Nolan caused that pick.
Why are we having him throw so far down field? Would it be wiser to dink and dunk so he can get his feet under him?
“We want to be an aggressive football team.”
LOL
Well if you watch his JC film he essentially throws bombs or rushes every play.
Ding ding ding.
That should’ve been a fly route.
Yep
Defense holds them to FG
Was the Ute player named Fatheringhim?
I swear there was a cal player today that the announcer pronouced “Chet TacoSalsa”
Beavs won’t be able to tolerate or come back from penalties tonight. That hold changed that drive big time. OSU if they stay in normal yard and distance and workable 3rd downs can sustain drives. Penalties and they will stall quickly and can be a long night. Not much more time to straighten things out before Utah gets too much of a lead.
Yup. They have to play an ultra clean game.
Underrated advantage for the Beavs tonight: Utah doesn’t have ANY cardboard cutouts in the stands.
They do, they’re spread out along the sidines.
nice hop and skip by Champ.
Another dumb KR decision. This should be a drinking game.
It is for me…
Finally an announcer states the obvious Re: Champ returning it.
“And he ends up about where he would have ended up if he took a knee in the end zone”
Chance needs glasses.
Get the dude some Rec Specs!
Get Crazy Legs Colletto in there. I wanna see that leg kick
Is horsecollar no longer a penalty. Have seen 2 on this drive alone
Not if you’re playing the Beavs. You can do pretty much whatever you want. Weren’t you watching last week?
Catch you fucker!
For christs sakes quintrano.
Oh that was him? Thought it was Musgrave.
Eyes getting blurry? Lol
Nolan gets his bread and butter called and TQ balls it up.
Q what the hell.
Musgrave has issues.
It was TQ this time
My bad.
That was Teagan. 84
that was Quinton!
Why’s the commentator blaming Nolan for the drop?
He is a dumbass.
Our TE need to work on their hands. Dam
4th down baby
WTF a FG
should have gone for it.
Agree this time
Right decision. Kicker has the leg
Also has luck o da Beavs
Agreed
Wtf, I must be on gummies. That FG looked good on my screen
Shoulda gone for it. ;)
That’s one of the 4th downs I would’ve went for and coach doesn’t go. Lol.
JS is true rebel
Terrible % call. 51 yard FG vs. getting 2 yards?
30% odds to make the FG. Just shy of 50% odds to make 1st down and keep momentum. Would have been fine with it if went in, but thought you go there as could have bootlegged Chance or done a play where he can scramble if receivers covered. 2 yard isn’t much for a QB that can scramble.
I think I understand the logic. try out the kicker early in the game and should the kick fail, that will give vent for going on as many 4ths as he wants the rest of the game.
Few things on that drive.
1) Utah is spying Chance already.
2) Chance has a decent arm.
3) Baylor is a fun runner. If you don’t get a solid wrap on him he just shrugs it off.
4) Calvin Tyler in the game.
5) Beason is going to be really good.
6) ffs TQ
he seems more decisive, quicker with his movements and decision making.
He also seems incredibly nervous right now.
Atleast when hes nervous he still acts. I think if the offense calms down they could blow this game up.
A sack is better than a INT.
Yes, he decisively threw it right to the Ute player.
JS seems to do the opposite of logical decision making.
His play card is just a big picture of the shoulder shrug emoji.
I think we lose on 80% of one on one tackles.
The big difference is there is usually another guy there pretty quick this year.
New Golden Rule for Beavs: If 4th and 2 or less and going to be a 40 yard or longer FG, you go for the 1st down. Keep it simple.
Bend dont break….I guess.
Just keep it close until the second half when the 1st team shows up!
Damn their QB sucks.
Bentley reminding everyone Nolan isn’t the only QB2 playing in this one.
Bentley was a huge recruit back in the day. He sucks tonight, thank god or we would be down 21-0.
Crazy Legs does it all!
Dude! Thank god their QB sucks and he gashed his hand! Two huge misses.
Love what I see from Chance btw! Take away the interception, he is decisive and sees the field well (besides that rolled over coverage). I’m surprised the staff didn’t try to get him (Chance) a quick and easy throw to start off for confidence though.
Go Beavs!
the play calling reminds me of early Luton
Give him an easy throw
Colleto busting loose.
Crazy Legs. You can’t stop him…
Hahaha Colleto you magnificent bastard.
Rumblin grumplin Jack
Need a solution to 0 on their team. Hes the spy and hes really good at attacking downhill on the run.
Great internal clock
Almost shanked it.
indeed.
BJ get hurt? He wasn’t in on that series.
Where’s BJ baylor on last series?
Jinx, Tyler needs to hit the line way faster against Utah.
C Tyler is not that great as a zone back. Too small, not shifty enough!
Go Beavs!
We got ourselves a game! Score a TD and kick a PAT, and Beavs are in the lead!
“Tonight’s the night……”
Take ’em upstairs Beavs…
Not with our first half D.
No punts in the game yet
Beavs better start knocking that TE off the LOS. He has gotten behind coverage twice but bad throws kept him from scoring!
Just win don’t suck
BD
#80 is doing whatever he wants
Has Bennett been back in since leaving?
NM just saw him
Dam Omar. Huge stick
way to fit that rb up
Goal line D at least looks good!
Shouldn’t the CFP committee be meeting outdoors?
Fak
Did he just say “hats…for bats”?
If Baylor is down, they need another back in there!
Go Beavs!
Jordan is gonna be a good back. I was hoping they might be down without Zach Moss.
Whittingham’s teams are remarkably consistent, 15 years running. Below average QB play, but a solid running game. Better than average Defense. Year after year after year.
He’s the Mike Riley of his generation
hardly. KW’s won/loss: 131-64; MR’s won/loss 112-99
KW’s record includes a bunch of seasons in a weaker conference. Oh and he took over from a guy named Urban Meyer.
Anybody who thinks KW is a good coach but doesn’t think MR was is, well, an idiot.
Jesus Nolan has a cannon but it isn’t anywhere near accurate.
Nolan looks like a gunslinger with his big boy pants on tonight!
His receivers look like they have diapers on.
And our backup running backs suck.
Massive dumps.
I liked that spin move
I miss Luton
I miss Seth the Great. JK
Nolan’s instincts on when to run are good, but he needs to avoid contact.
Another instinct is to sail his passes..
Ill take a sail out of bounds over an underthrow to the defense.
Penalties are our best play.
Also anything where Bentley throws it
I think flemings had the same yardage haha
I think its time to see Madison. Nolan getting more comfortable. He loves a stiff arm.
To be fair to Tyler, he has no room to run.
He doesn’t but he also takes horizontal steps before vertical. Need to see if there is anyone else who takes 3 steps then makes a move like Baylor and JJ
Maybe even Colletto? It’s rare when he doesn’t gain at least a few yards.
QB Waggle! I remember that from Madden ’91
Who are these refs and why are the calls going in favor of OSU?
Setting us up for a 2nd half downer.
Big Corvallis money. American dream outbid Salt Lake.
Maybe not on the zone read..
Getting bailed out by penalties! Wow!
Go Beavs!
Baylor must be injured…
Hearing shoulder. Got hit square on it on the 20 yard run. Tyler is not good.
That is terrible news! Tyler aint gonna cut it.
Go Beavs!
Nolan is squinting every time he looks to the sideline…. maybe he does need glasses.
Is that why he misses receivers downfield so badly?
He is overthrowing guys that are in tight coverage. I’ll take that over the pick. The kid hasn’t even finished a half yet! I will tell you this, he has very good feet, he’s decisive and has a good arm. He’ll be just fine.
Go Beavs!
Wild Thing.
You make my heart sing
told ya
Damn! He missed Trevon there! :(
You got this Chance!!
Go Beavs!
Play calling is suspect. Why are we going for this big strike shit on the first play of every series? Throwing shit on the wall doesn’t win games.
I don’t think thats the play call. Nolan is comfortable with bombs. here are 2 other routes that require more timing and experience that I don’t think he is used to. He is also skipping check downs most of the time.
announcer telling JS to do a draw. Here comes a hail marry
we’ve never had these many calls
Forearm shiver to the head if a downed man? Yeah, that’s a targeting
That dude is leaving the game. He blew Trevon’s mouth piece out.
I didnt even see the helmet contact till the replay. Pretty nasty play. Penalty saves the beavs again
Damn, Utah is dirty.
Targeting?
Announcers, not even smart enough to pick up on Baylor is out.
Nice!!!! Yes! Let’s go!!
Go Beavs!
Are we using up all our luck in this one game?
WTF was that call?
He should be out. Lead with the crown 100% and pulled up even!
Go Beavs!
Yeah baby!
Too bad the penalties can’t get in the end zone for us
Bye bye :)
Go Beavs!
Refs are trying to make up to the Beavs for 4 games of bias calls.
Defense got some rest on that drive
Nice drive, and we get the ball.
Bailed out by the Utah Defense but we’ll take it.
The refs got 74 yards. We got 1. Touchdown.
Champ had like 30 and Nolan had 10
I know its more of a joke. But if all that was mid field I think it would have been around 60 yards in penalties.
Who cares…all legit penalties.
Utah going for Dennis Era penalty numbers
This edible sucks. Weird, last night it was strong. 2hrs in now and nada.
Don’t take more lol
At 2hrs is it just a dud, or can it still work?
It can kick in later. Specially if you hit it yesterday.
Drink booze…..always works.
What dose are you taking? 10mg?
He did 25 mg yesterday and tonight lol
Wow! Lol! Yeah that should have done something! He should take a couple shots and see what happens!
Hes avoiding calories!
I know we don’t always get along, but you trying to kill a guy?
Straight shots are pretty low cal… I figured with the alcohol you’ll find out real quick if it was a dud. Unless it was some CBD edibles that they gave you by mistake… And hell no Angry I ain’t trying to kill ya lol, I actually enjoy our banter.
I hit 170lbs after Thanksgiving. Meh. Don’t want any calories.
I took these edibles last night and was stoned at 9am when I woke. Tonight, zero. Very odd! Oh well. I’ll have to deal with the reality of the Beavs.
Yeah that is odd. Everyone is different though it might not effect you as much. As you found out yesterday, you’ll likely be feeling it when you wake up. You might mess around with different strains until you find one that hits you the right way. It’s a pretty in depth exercise but i would focus on indica or indica dominant hybrids. Those will hit you in the head way more and are good for nighttime. Sativa is my jam as I get too sleepy on most indicas.
And feel you on the weight. I was 200 in July. Started watching calories and I hit 175 this week. I probably have another 20 to go to be back at my HS weight. It’s good that you are approaching it with calories, it really works if you stay disciplined.
See above!
Do some sprints. It’ll kick in REAL quick
Inject it….lol
Beavers have been a second half team this year. I’d like an update on Baylor’s status.
This is interesting! Beavs get the ball after half too!
Go Beavs!
onside?
Oh thank you for not doing that JS lol
Wow, we’re even getting lucky on no-calls!
Agreed it was pi
Deeper than the deepest!
That’s what she said?
Little shoutout to Murray. Hes had a rough run the last two years and he is really taking advantage of the one on ones to get some pressure and direct flows.
just almost forced an int too. Damn ham. Missed sack and missed int.
If the Beavs can find a way to actually get to the Qb and keep #80’s timing disrupted, we should be fine taking care of their passing game. #80 is about all they’re using in the passing game which is surprising bc Covey is a jitterbug!
Go Beavs!
Covey is coming off of knee surgery for the second time. He is not the player he was a couple of years ago. Whittingham said he was 20% last week and only got a couple of snaps.
Hamilcar would’ve had that sack last year
And that interception
And that INT
Can’t give up a FG even here
Rashed break down your feet man!
Go Beavs!
Down 6 at the half isn’t too bad. If we get our usual second half surge, we’ll be in business!
Hamilcar is Ham-handed
Im totally pleased with that half. Defense was pretty good minus a few big runs and #80. Offense did enough to keep us in it, hoping Nolan gets comfortable and Baylor returns.
Ham is not even half the player he was last year. Wonder what happened to him?
No passion. Must feed off the crowd.
That might be a great point. He has seemed flat all year.
What’s the talk about injuries? He has made some cryptic tweets about playing through injuries and people not knowing what he is dealing with. Murray has been way more of a force in the backfield this season.
Hes had a hand and ankle thing that I have heard about. Not sure.
Yeah not a bad half. Bend but don’t break D was in force, and they usually get better in the 2nd half. Bodes well.
Utah isn’t very impressive in any facet. Game is for the taking.
Nolan looked meh. Hope he’s a 2nd half guy, too.
Nolan has raw skills, but he looks nervous like Gebbia in his first few games.
Doesn’t help when your TE drops a wide open pass that would have helped his confidence.
^^^^This!!
Their frosh RB Jordan is the best offensive player on the field today with JJ out.
I feel for Ham this season. This can’t help his draft stock. As a beaver fan I am super happy we might have him back next year since eligibility doesn’t count.
I hasn’t seen but I heard he was getting double teamed blocked a lot this year. Which has been good for the other guys.
Haven’t been able to watch. Second half keys?
D shutsdown their TE and run game. Wideouts and QB look pretty mundane.
Offense just needs to get in a roll and keep the refs well paid. Baylor coming back would be good.
Nolan looks like an Anderson/Collins hybrid so far, idk how else to call it lol
Nolan reminds me of Marcus McMaryion from his first few starts. Athleticism and instincts were there, but in need of some composure and seasoning.
Throw a catchable pass at a reasonable range. Run the ball. Bend dont break…a little less.
Ham went from 2nd rounder to maybe off the board.
Anyone listening to Mike Parker and status of Baylor. Announcers are clueless….
Seems like over the years the TV announcers provide less and less info, and just spew cliches and popular narratives.
Shoulder injury sounds like
Pretty sure Ron Callan said Baylor was likely to return to the game, that was, I believe, early in the 2nd qtr.
First half penalties:
OSU 1 for 10yds
Utes 5 for 41yds
Who’d have thunk it!
I know, right?!
The Beavs have to find consistency in the run game! You really do have to get Chance some credit, considering the run game (outside of him) has not been half as good as J2 being in the game. That truly helps the offense. Without a run game, it’s tough.
Keys to win:
* establish RBs in an effective running game
*connect on some downfield throws
*win turnover battle
*3rd downs, both sides of the ball
*Convert in redzone 7 vs 3!
Go Beavs!
Don’t jinx it!! lol
Colletto has the longest run for the Beavs so far. I miss JJ.
Nice throw…not
I’ll take that punt. Good job Caleb
Who was that punter? That wasn’t Lightbourn. Wrong number and wrong face.
Lochner. 65 yarder
Loecher..something like that
Loecher
Lightbourne hasn’t punted since his amazing 13 yarder last week.
How have the Beavs RBs not been called “The Presidents”? Jefferson, Tyler, Madison, plus Baylor sounds Presidential
That was a bad series!
Go Beavs!
Wright fucking fuck
Jesus…..Catch it
Jordan is realllly dangerous
Our tackling is dangerous
D thinks it’s still the 1st half.
Can’t believe they didn’t stop the QB from the 1st down. Will prove costly.
The lack of discipline on the pass rush is staggering! Killin the pass rush.
Go Beavs!
I want to see a stat for how many times roberts and speights share a tackle.
I want a stat for how many times a Beav DL runs right past the QB.
How many snaps have they had this year?
Our DL are terrible with teh QB in open field. Break down your feet and make the play for Christ’s sake!
Go Beavs!
Announcer can’t say better…
Pisses me off that Wright laughs about dropping the interception and now Utah scores. Not so funny!!
Also OSU has to be the worst tackling D1 team I have watched this year.
Been that way for the last 5 years.
Would have been a massive return too. HE was completely alone.
He could have run for 20-30 yards too. Instead Utah drives 89 yards for a TD. second missed pick for beavers defense.
Yeah really socks he dropped it. That or keeping the QB from what should have been a straightforward stop on 3rd down, and Beavs should have gotten the ball with chance to go ahead with a TD drive. Comes down to 3 or 4 little things in many games for the Beavs.
Damn. This looks like Utah is doing whatever they want to do!
Go Beavs!
Can we borrow Jordan for this game?
Game over now. No running game and now down by 13 they’ll tee off on Nolan. Still no Baylor….
Yep. This is over. Shitty breaks! But that seems to be 2020! We may not even have a game next weekend the way shit is going? And seeing how Cal beat Oregon and how Stanford is performing now, I’m not sure that’s a bad thing. Fuck!
Go Beavs!
OMG! A QB with a fucked up hand who is inaccurate to start, dissecting the shit out of the defense. Wow!
Go Beavs!
What a rough defensive series. That was ugly. Smash mouth football and we got smashed. Need the refs again on this drive!
It get out of hand if Utah keeps running the ball.
This game highlights OSU’s weakest points, which are the offensive guard and nose tackle positions.
Might be true but if Quoritino and Wright catch the ball this is a different game all together.
I think Flemings is averaging 25 yds on kick returns. What a waste of energy.
The part that sucks is, Utah is not disguising what they do (never have). Yet they’re unstoppable! Blows my mind!
Go Beavs!
Defense has been on the field too long as offense cant get anything done. How Tyler is a FBS RB is beyond my comprehension.
So, our defense clearly practices with the stationary tackling dummies, because they look surprised when the ball carrier side steps their full steam straight ahead attack.
Need to see another back. Tyler has no answers on these guys.
Tyler gets tackled when someone sneezes on him.
“Nolan with a rainbow to nobody in particular” Alright thats my sign to go to bed. Ill catch the recording tomorrow. Night guys.
Next QB please.
Might want to try Moore. Nolan looks bad.
Gulbranson is higher on the depth chart. Wouldn’t mind seeing what his throws look like. Can’t be much worse and we need the passing game to click a little without our top 2 RBs
Time for Moore!
Need a turnover or quick defensive stop or game about over.
Nolan should have settled down a little by now but he is just inaccurate. What really worries me is he is not even being pressured and he still
can’t hit the broad side of a barn.
Soooo, it appears JS might have been right to start with Gebbia. But the play calling sure isn’t giving Nolan much of a chance.
still more shitty tackling.
Diarrhea Defense
Let me guess the play calling on this drive. Run for 12 yds. Run for 5 yds. Run for 8 yds.TE dunk pass for 13. Run. Run. Run. Hand the ball to the water boy for 10 yds run
Ham looks fat and slow and not giving much effort.
Coaches thought so to, they benched him.
New nickname….. Honey Baked.
Nolan floats/rainbows his throws over 15 yards. Too much arc and they come in too slow. Too easy to pickoff.
May as well see what Moore looks like. I thought Nolan would have more confidence and a little swagger.
Doesn’t help when Q dropped the one longer throw on 2 yard line, which could have upped it, but overall he came in looking much more nervous than e he galloped out on 4th down against Oregon.
He is terrible.
HOLY CRAP!!!.. OSU forced a punt!!
Where are:
Tyjon Lindsey? Gould? Is Harrison out for this game?
Go Beavs!
Whaaat? Flemings injured? Maybe if you took a knee…
He is only going to run a kickoff beyond the 25, about once in 15 tries and 85% of those will be 2 or 3 extra yards at most. 13 times atleast out of 15 we end up at around the 20 or 21 yard line and lose atlesst 3 or 4 yards. I’d like to see them take a knee on kickoffs 25-30% more of the time than they do.
Announcers still butchering Teagan’s last name.
“Remote control”??
Remote control??
They clearly haven’t earned playing time. What makes you think Gould or Lindsay is good? Harrison not available til next week.
Only chance is Moore. Nolan can’t complete a pass for shit!
I never said they were “good”. It’s just when you aren’t getting things done with what yiou have on the field, you need to get in different personnel.
So you think Nick Moore is going to come in and be a magician? With teh third string Qb vs a good football team. Good luck buddy!
Go Beavs!
Lol. That’s not what I said at all calm down. I think he can hit open receivers tho. The receivers aren’t the problem it’s the QB.
turn out the lights
Well. A fitting end to a shitty day!
Whittingham recruited Nolan. It seems they know his weaknesses. Keep him in the pocket and make his throw. Too many long third downs.
Gulbranson
If you make covey look good you fuckin suck!
Nolan has had his chance. He has stunk. Lets move on. And as I am writing this Utah return for TD. Good night
Yes can we see if Moore can at least complete a pass?
Oh no… we suck again!
0-2 Utes reminding osewe that they are a bottom 5 program in CFB history. Nolan… not a good choice. Good job Utes! Smith now 9-20 but will save his job because he beat the youngest team in the country last week.
Zombie account
Yep. This is the exact same team the Beavs put on the field last week. Good to have you back. How was your week?
My week was great. We will let you have one every 4 years or less. No problem. We are youngest team in the country by far. Future looks bright. Rebuilding and you still barely won with veterans at home. Lmao
41-38
Oh. where you been hiding Sparky?
Fuck off meat head
41-38
2 out of 12 years. And 2 out 13 next year. I will take it
41-38
Otherwise known as 2 out of 5 years.
How about those Cal Bears?!
:D
Go Beavs!
Apparently all those top 10 recruiting classes don’t mean anything then your coach is a hack.
Our coach has won over 75% of his games. Yours? Didn’t think so
41-38
2-1 vs OSU.
Oh and your hack coach is 51-56 as a HC. Don’t try pretend other gigs don’t count. Oh and 41-38.
24-9 record at UO is not over 75%.
Beavsblow’s UO edumacation shining through. Or did you just buy a UO degree at Walmart?
You’re also leaving out his sweet 27-47 record at FIU. Leaving Fraudstobal with a head coaching record of 51-56.
People ! Jesus Christ! Chance is playing on a team that is using a third string RB, that has hardly played this whole year! It’s is his first D1 game. The kid has some tools if ya know what you’re looking for/at?! If you’re just some fan saying this does/doesn’t work, not understanding the circumstances, then you’re ignorant! Gebbia would have looked worse!
The Beavs lost this game because of lacking in strength in the trenches and 3 rd down (O and D). they got manhandled.
Go Beavs!
Dude you’re gonna have a stroke at some point lol
Oh guys apparently we don’t know what we’re looking at. Let’s all defer to Beavs26. Nolan is killing it. Don’t mind that they’re using a freshman RB and our stable is deep.
Hahah. What on Earth was Nolan doing on that fumble play…
Getting his lunch ate.
It appears that JS picked the right starting QB three years in a row. That’s a good sign for the future.
Is Lindsey just a back up gimmick running back at this point?
That throw actually looked good out of his hand for once
Tyler sucks.
Well most of the time.
He’s short by 1/2 yard
Onsides kick coming up
Good call 26
I think the staff is still learning (like Chance is) what they have in him?! They need to tailor their game plan around him. BUT…… having J2 or even Baylor, is a HELL of a lot different than having Tyler as your RB.
Go Beavs!
Anyone else see the ref shove Irish?
Yes saw that, Irish shoved him first coming off pile
Yes, after Irish got up from the pile and shoved him first. I was expecting a flag.
You mean after Irish put his hands on him?
Onside worked!!!! Haha
It worked to delay the inevitable.
The kicker fucking stumbled on that beautiful onside kick lol
That was the distance of his punt last weekend. When we beat the ducks. In the Civil War.
Jaydon Grant. That dude is unbelievable!
Go Beavs!
That was 10 yards Aholes!
Jesus. 30 yard sack. Throw the ball away dummy
41-38
Don’t forget 21-17
Don’t lose to Cal! Idiots!!!!!
Go Beavs!
Don’t lose to 0-2 Utes idiot. You were in a roll!
Dont lose to 0-3 Cal idiot. Oh whoops.
9-20. 28 straight losing seasons. 7 years without a bowl game. Herbert is your NFL ROY. Luton 0-3 and benched after throwing 4 picks
And your hack coach is 51-56. 75%? nice try sore losser.
He’s right.
That was atrocious QBing.
Dont encourage him pot head.
That was a guy trying to make a play when protection breaks down man! Again, first D1 game for a guy that is missing a running threat (at RB).
Go Beavs!
Angry is happy cuz having Beavsblow here means he’s not the worst poster on the site.
Stop projecting.
If you have no running threat (at RB), your QB is going to be less effective. I don’t care who you are.
Go Beavs!
That was DUMB!
God damn! If anything ever looks questionable and it’s in your favor, snap the fucking ball right away!
Go Beavs!
That’s on your home boy!!
Don’t like the play calling for Chance in this game. Very few 3 step routes (slants, hitches, outs). They made him throw intermediate to deep, quite a bit!
Go Beavs!
Derek Anderson is that you?????
Announcers calling osu “Oregon”. Lol
6 pt game bitches. How did Taylor catch that?
25mg. Slowed the game down for him.
It was tipped, too – great catch!
Well that was a hell of a catch by Taylor.
No it was a great throw by Nolan. You’re just ignorant.
Ha, throwing so hard he splits triple coverage. Awesome.
Jesus. Very tight window!
Go Beavs!
New luck of da Beavs????
That was all Taylor. Tipped ball and still gets it! Awesome!
Go Beavs!
Blind squirrel found a nut there
Why is JS kicking it short?
Pooch kick is normal in this sitsh!
Go Beavs!
Here we go D
Man that TD cathc was poor design. Two receivers with 10 yards of each other in the middle of the field???! WTF?!
Go Beavs!
Roberts is a beast. 20 tackles wow.
Playaction coming!
Go Beavs!
#80
Nice stop!!!!
Go Beavs!
Holy crap, what a fucking stand.
Put roberts at rb or qb
What a stop.
Nice job D!!!!!!!
Go Beavs!
“Nolan on the rollout… 3 defenders in the area.”
Speights is an absolute animal!
Go Beavs!
Roberts has something like 20 tackles too
Yeah down vote you lil bitch!
Nolan lost the game on that 4th and 1.
How? His number wasn’t called.
He hiked it with 25 seconds on the play clock when the game clock was stopped. Not everyone was set.
Terrible 4th down call
No run threat here. That’s the bitch!
Go Beavs!
What a terrible play call. Nolan is bad, but give him the run/pass option there.
Nolan keeps it he might still be running
Why didn’t we bring in Coletto and just get that yard? So stupid.
Just an AWFUL play call there on 4th down. Brutal!!!
Yep, he pulls the ball and he runs for 10 yards and a FD.
Dang, needed a Colletto run there. Tyler doesnt have the power for that type of run
My exact thought too.
Ute defense. Stingy. “Swarming like sharks to chum”. Love these announcers
Was Cal swarming like women to a panty sale today? It sure seemed like it.
Ducks are young. Can’t win them all
ESPN bot
Dude, wtf. Why did Nolan hike it with 25 seconds on the play clock? The clock was stopped.
The staff told him to hurry. That’s a strategy to catch the defense off guard.
Go Beavs!
For those of you saying Nolan is bad, ha ha! It would have been worse with Gebbia! Trust me (in this situation).
Go Beavs!
Thats why you run colleto.
In Hindsight you can do anything lol. To the three fuckin morons down voting, you’ve never played/coached a day in your life so….ok. lol
Go Beavs!
Where’s do you coach coach? Maybe you could do better than little Johnny. He’s 9-20
I don’t know… Gebbia has missed throws but Nolan really really misses throws.
Gebbia had J2 every game too! Put Gebbia in this situation. Look at who Oregon just lost to, 0-2 Cal. Like I said earlier, how good is Oregon? Not very good!
Go Beavs!
I understand what you are saying but Gebbia is a better game manager who throws a consistent spiral…. Perhaps with more experience Nolan can get there… besides we put the most running yards on Utah today than anyone has.
And that was with a couple of huge sacks included in the total (sacks count as rushing yards in college). I think the total would have been well over 150 without the sacks.
But, but, fancy uni’s
Why would Utah throw there and save us a timeout? Dumb
We have no run threat (I think Beavers26 said something like that), so what fo we don on 4th and 1? Run it up the gut…for 1/2 yd.
Not good play calling on that last drive. There were huge pockets in the middle of the field.
Yesh. Nolan’s passes…they’re not even close to spirals, and he doesn’t know how to sit in the pocket and throw a pass. Everything is schoolyard where he’s running around…
Yea Nolan looks terrible lol. At least we know that now. I just can’t imagine that any of the other Qbs aren’t better then that. Also who the fuck is rating players these days lol. JA 4 star QB used to mean something
Grade inflation!
In a “schoolyard” you don’t have an offensive line! There have been many tight “spirals” in this game. When you have no run threat, it really fucks you as a QB. Chance, seeing his first D1 action, he did pretty well (all things considered). Did he make mistakes? Absolutely. I have yet to see anyone on this page, offer specific information on QB play, still waiting…. but I will tell you know that Nolan is by far the better overall QB on this team (seen so far). He throws on time, stays on the balls of his feet, sees the field well! There is an urgency with Chance. It’s ok that his clock is a little rushed as a noob! As he gains confidence and gets reps, that will improve. He definitely sees the whole field better than Gebbia. You can see this, just with him taking off when coverage is all playing off.
Let’s get one thing straight (record does not matter) Utah is probably the best team they have faced all season (all 3 facets of the game). Chance had his first game against them without our starting RB. The best RB in the league!
Go Beavs!
There’s a lot of improvement to be had mostly with awareness and accuracy. You can take 15-20 yard sacks. He needs to either step up or slide to escape pressure don’t back pedal. Also he needs to keep his eyes down field through the wash. His feet are consistently moving even with a clean pocket that is the reason for the accuracy issues. Get back in your drop plant and throw. The tap dancing moves your head and that’s why we saw so man inaccurate balls. Also Lastly he had a real basic miss on the RPo a few times. It’s simple read the end or OlB if he dives pull it and run right up the gap he vacated. On the 4th and 1 RPO if he keeps it he’s probably still running right now.
Lot of things to clean up. Hopefully he can.
Buh bye beavos. Back to familiar feelings. 9-20 and still “rebuilding”
41-38
21-17.
Huskies are coming to Eugene next week. Beatdown coming.
You just lost to winless Cal lol
Dude, that video you posted where you were crying about the Civil War loss was priceless. Did you post another one tonight about the Cal loss? Please link it.
Beavs win this game with JJ and Gebbia. Smith just one major error (seemed improved overall). D making back to back stops to give them a shot is what stands out.
The playcalling was vanilla at best.
JS did no favors for Nolan. Should have been calling short high completion routes from the start.
This. Final drive and we finally get a WR tunnel screen
Are you frickin’ serious?! Holy Shit! That is moronic!!
Go Beavs!
You don’t think we win with are #1s playing?
What If’s
Quitrino catches the td
Wright catches the interception
Jefferson plays
Gebbia plays
The Beavs mantra. Always. What if
Schmucks mantra is….we have pretty uniforms and great recruiting class and we still suck. Lol
Reigning Pac12 Champs (again) and Rose Bowl Champs (again). You? Oh…. never mind
Keep living in the past Sparky. It’s all your ducks have….the past….even some of the Ducks elite recruits are realizing the schmucks are living in the past. 41-38 kid….your reigning pac 12 champs suck…..just like you blow.
Nolan’s cut off undershirt on the his throwing arm is the real reason we lost
At least better than the ducks.
Frustrating loss in a way because it was there, even with back up Qb and 3rd string rb.
Haha. That’s the only way osu ever gauges their season…. if they beat the Ducks. Well, you’re 2-10 in the last dozen. How’s the program doing? Lmao
41-38
One thing you can say for sure about the quacks…they have the best owner in college football.
The program is clearly improving and the Quacks are regressing (for this year at least). Is that what you’re nervous about?
Yea that game is a moral victory if ever there was such a thing. If my uncle had tits he’d be my Aunty. But you could argue that if the Beavs get correct spots at UW and vs Ducks (since Gebbia doesn’t get hurt) that they are 4-1 right now and sitting pretty.
That was the worst offensive game plan since the Andersen days.
Yep, lundgren didn’t do Nolan any favors in his play calling. Chance will be a good one moving forward. I thought his effort was pretty good. He has a stronger arm than Gebbia and better wheels too but lacks accuracy and experience. JJ plays in this game and Nolan would have been more effective and a likely victory. If Tyler is the best we have for third string RB, the beavers need to improve depth at RB.
Of course Beavs drew Utah as the non-division team.
The beavers hung in there despite missing the best RB in the conference among several other key players. Nolan will be fine once the beavs get JJ back but a lot to ask of him vs the best defense in the conference minus JJ, baylor and Flemmings. The defense looked much better in the second half again. Too bad JJ was unable to go bc he is the difference maker as the Schmucks found out last week. This team had moxie and doesn’t give up.
So many excuses. tOSU had 23 players out today and their HC. No excuses. That’s why they are who they are and you are who you are. Lmfao
Is that why tOSU is 8-0 vs. UO?
42-20?
77-31. With 2nd and 3rd stringers. Called them off early or would have been a Hundy easily. Not as bad as 69-10 though. That is a record that will never fall. Lmao
Neither will 22-19.
Michael Dyer’s knee was not down, BTW.
You really comparing OSU to tOSU?.. tOSU would roll just about anyone even without 23 players.. Oregon included..
tOSU had 3 starts who were all olinemen out. And 20 scrubs.
That’s not true at all. You lie like a democrat. Three offensive lineman “among multiple starters out” https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.10tv.com/amp/article/sports/football/ohio-state-football/ohio-state-releases-list-of-inactive-players-michigan-state/530-d12deaa9-89f9-4d41-9ec6-8d0ba195dc29
Found a Trump bot.
And he’s a Duck simp. Doubly whammy.
Reading comprehension, you don’t have it. You read left to right and top to bottom dummy. From the article:
OHIO STATE FOOTBALL
MULTIPLE STARTERS UNAVAILABLE FOR OHIO STATE’S GAME AGAINST MICHIGAN STATE
A total of 23 players will not be available for Saturday’s game.
Author: 10TV Web Staff
Published: 4:07 PM EST December 5, 2020
Ohio State will be missing multiple starters when they take the field Saturday against Michigan State.
Among those unavailable include three starting offensive linemen: center Josh Myers and tackles Thayer Munford and Nicolas Petite-Frere.
Other players on the list of 23 include linebacker Tuf Borland, defensive end Tyler Friday and safety Josh Proctor. You can see the full list below
Go through the list and post the other starters not playing. I’ll wait here.
Apparently you don’t know what multiple means dummy. The article just listed 3 more for you.. That’s 6 starters which would qualify as multiple. Plus their HC. Bahahaha. Excuse maker. Go Utes!
Yes, we know Sparky comparng tOSU depth to OSU’s depth is a great comparison. You are quite the football expert. Lol
He took a year of communications classes at UO before dropping out. Don’t question his intelligence.
Cause losing to Cal and the Beavers makes you an “elite” program lmfao
I’m sorry how many pac12, Pac10 or Pac8 titles for ospew? Rose bowls? NC games? None?? Ok
3 rose bowls. 4 championships. 0 NC just like the ducks.
So more Rose bowl wins for Oregon than appearances for osu and 12 conference titles compared to 4. Yeah, bottom 5 all-time
And did you enjoy the Cal game?? (while you are laughing of course)
Hey guy’s because the running back isn’t playing it makes the QB wildly inaccurate and take huge sacks. I guess you guys and and I have never played football before. According to Chance’s dad Beavs26. Lol
Well Jefferson is a good blocker.. so yes it would possibly help with sacks.. and if he was in the game im sure Utah would be focused on stopping him and might open up more passing lanes for Nolan..Ive never played football
Sure enough his email is “ChancesDad@gmails.com”
Are you shitting us? Or is the weed kicking in?
I’m definitely shitting you.
Exactly lol… I hate when those running backs make you throw 3 ft over a wide open receivers head… it’s the worst… JJ gives the best massages that’s why Gebbia always throws spirals… everyone knows this duh!
Watch #80! Play action coming! Penalties are helping us! Wow!
Stop downvoting me!
Go Beavs!
No. I’m actually someone who has some common fuckin sense. And I’ve played and coached in this great game. How ’bout you? If you think Gebbia is better than Chance at this point (especially with all things considered, you’re an idiot)!
Let me ask you. How good do you think Oregon is? Who’s a better team; Oregon or Utah?
PS- Don’t be an idiot!
Go Beavs
Alcohol and blogs don’t mix lol… Take an edible and go to bed.
He needs a pacifier.
Besides I’ve see some shitty players and coaches in my day. Just because you were one doesn’t mean much. And it’s really showing when that is the basis of your argument. I am guessing you were one of the shitty ones with the name calling you do.
Back in ’82 Beaver26 could throw the pigskin a quarter mile. I vividly remember it.
Seriously man. Can you give a valid argument or are you gonna make early 2000’s movie references to try and be funny. Sounds like a middle school attempt. Just give me something real here? Something that makes sense?
Tango, I wont nor do I need to toot my own horn about what kind of coach I am. I have no problem with anyone who doesn’t understand the game at that level either. The thing that is annoying me, is those who come in here and pretend that they have a clue and then try to pass their opinion off as some kind of law! I will say that I have not specifically called any “names” in here, if the description fits than so be it!
All I ask is this. If you’re going to make statements like, “I know quarterbacks” or anything of that nature, yet only describe the issues as he has, “a good arm and good feet” or other vague descriptions, then I’m callin’ your ass out! Tell me more please. I really need to learn more!
I think one thing that is offensive to some is that I actually expand on my reasoning as to why I say what I do about players or groups (offense/defense/etc). I can’t stand when people speak in generalities (try to take credit when the vague comments come true) then continuously try to defend when they are completely wrong. Weren’t some people here betittng their lives on Marcus McMaryion was going to be an NFL guy?! How has that worked out so far?
Go Beavs!
Go to bed!
For those who don’t understand real football, which I’m starting to see is a lot of people on this board that are making these ridiculous comments. A good running game helps to compliment a passing game. Not only in the pass blocking game but giving the defense something else to think about besides the passing game. Because, I’m sure most of the brain trust here (the ones making all these brilliant comments) already know that on any play, there can be a run or pass, so the defense always reacts with “read steps” to read run first then drop into pass assignments if needed. So it’s not about just being a good blocker (as a RB) for your QB but more, can you run the football effectively enough to make the defense creep up to stop the run and then be able to pass the football (through straight dropback or playaction). That’s actually common sense!
Go Beavs!
We know that.
Problem is that Utah’s front 7 is more physical and faster than OSU’s entire offense. They blew up interior run plays and plays that went towards the edge.
At that point, you have to use the short passing game as a substitute for the run. You have to use a variety of WR screens, shallow crossing routes, and stick concepts that get 5 yards. The best way to get around a more physical front is to make them run sideline to sideline and wear them out, and we did not do this. The matchups were there with Utah’s young secondary.
This is a team where you cannot afford to lose 2 yards on first down, and cannot afford to get into 3rd and 7 or longer.
What do you “know”? Please expand…
Go Beavs!
A successful running game will typically drop the strong safety towards the linebacking level, with one or two outside backers shadowing the defensive end if six in the box cannot stop an interior run.
Utah was able to stuff the run with only five in the box because their ends consistently blew up OSU’s tackles and crash, which is why Utah played a cover-2 base most of the game, and a nickel package as early as second down. The center did a decent job in the game but the guards that had a one on one got consistently blown up.
Play action doesn’t work if the safeties know that six in the box can stop the run. Play action also doesn’t work if the pass rush gets to the quarterback in under three seconds. Wazzu almost never used play action against Utah because the talent disparity between the lines makes it pointless to use.
I know something.
I know you’re turning out to be unsufferable. Everyone has opinions, just because you coach football doesn’t mean your opinion is better about anything related to football. History is littered with absolutely terrible coaches. In fact probably 99% of all football coaches that have ever lived are terrible. Of course thats my expert opinion.
“Sit down, Karen!”
Shit, Whittingham tried his damndest to give the game to the Beavs. It would have been funny to see him run out of town, but alas it was not to be.
Let me challenge everyone here: if you’re going to be a fan and offer your opinion, great! If you’re going to come off like some “expert”, offer something more than, “this guy is a good passer”, or “he has good feet”, “he has a good arm”! I’m basically calling out all pretenders. Put up or shout the fuck up!

Go Beavs!
2 idiots that can’t respond lol classic!
I am no expert but I believe Gebbia is superior at this point. Why is that such a strange concept? Nolan is a better runner with a stronger arm. He does the right things with his eyes, runs the hurry up well. His negatives: Accuracy, deciding on throwing with touch, his play fakes are too obvious, not settling his feet. Gebbia on the other hand is a much better game manager, changes plays at the line, much more accurate and always throws a spiral, much better hiding play fakes, finds his check down better. Negatives: accuracy which shows you the drop off to Nolan, doesn’t always settle his feet l, when he does he usually doesn’t miss.
As you can see it’s pretty clear to me and others why we think AT THIS point in time Gebbia is better. Nolan could settle down and be a complete QB but that wasn’t shown in two halves tonight.
Tango, I don’t know your experience in football. I’ll ask you a couple of questions:
* Do you feel Utah is worse than any team they have faced this season?
* Do you realize that J2 ran for 2 long TDs in 2 of the previous games on one play for 70+ yards (the back up Qb J Coletto had the longest run in this game-maybe 20+ yds-, Nolan may have been second in that category)?
*Did Oregon State have a chance to win this game tonight?
*Was there a drop off at RB from J2?
*How does an effective running game help a passing offense?
Go Beavs!
We’re all experts. Don’t you know that? Everyone here is absolutely qualified to make expert opinions that shall not be challenged. Ever
Okay so what would a fan say. If everything against your opinion is pretending to be an expert I’m not sure what a counter argument would be. It’s a dumb trap argument where you devalue any counter opinion by questioning expertise.
*Shut!
Go Beavs!
When the overall level on talent isn’t that good then losing key players in key positions is just to must to overcome. Chance’s first outing…. I’ve seen worse. I did like how he never quit. Our receivers seemed checked out and showed no effort. Our TE’s are a disappointment overall.
Our defense looked more like last years bend but don’t break team. Very unimpressed with Tyler Jr… Colletto finished with more yards and he ran as if he had a broomstick stuck up his ass. I agree the play calling was bad
Kolby looked good
That was pretty funny. Smith has been pretty successful with onsides right?
The program needs more broomsticks.
Not sure how anyone is upset with this game. I’m not going to pretend that a close lose is good, but under the circumstances that’s about as good a loss as we could have.
We didn’t have our #1 qb, #1(all American) rb, (than our #2 rb went down), our #rg, our #1 dt, and #1 safety.
I think it’s safe to say that coach smith has got us on the right path. We had the ball with 1.5 minutes left, to win the game. He is going to be special.
Actually had the ball TWICE in the last 5 mins with a chance to win
How drunk is beavs26? Everyone claiming to be experts? You’re the one telling everyone what’s what and if anyone (which is most) disagree you’re the expert and everyone else is wrong. You’re not the only one who realizes Jefferson is out but do you really think he would bust a 70yd run? Chance just missed a lot of throws. That isn’t a point that’s arguable. He was better off running every down he was so bad throwing. His td was tipped and that’s why it wasn’t picked.
I think we found a new Jack.
Let the random music videos commence!
NoChance Nolan. What a disaster all around.
Terrible game plan and play calling. That last drive we called plays like there were 30 seconds left. They had time to try to run the ball.
BUT NO, they put the game in hands of a QB that couldn’t hit the ocean with a throw. He made my old buddy Mitch Leidner look like Joe Montana.
The guy was spasmodic.
NoChance we win another game and any chance for some momentum from the Civil War was flushed down the toilet.
Are you qualified to make these statements? Can I see your credentials?
You’re not qualified to question BG’s credentials, so stop posting, please!
I slept at a Holiday in Express last night. Top those credentials!!
It’s not a good look to say “don’t post unless you’re an expert”. That kind of defeats the purpose of the internet!
Shut up! Credentials, please.
You’re not an expert on “credentialing”, so you shut up also!
We need some fact checkers on these threads.
Disappointing loss. Chance killed us. Made Gebbia look like HOFer. That said, D played a good game and help put us in position to win. Baylor looked good until he got hurt. Tyler not so much. If Wright catches that INT and special teams doesn’t allow punt return for TD, we win despite poor QB play. I disagree with those criticizing play call. Oline opened hole Tyler didn’t see and receivers were wide open but QB missed. If our QB hits our TE in stride in 1st quarter, we score easy TD… although he should have still caught it to set up 1st and goal from 3. Coaches put players in position to win but they failed to make the plays
In my expert opinion, the play calling was ok for normal circumstances, but these were not normal circumstances. The play calling needed to be adjusted to exploit the talent we had on the field. That did not happen. Nolan has a lot of talent, but throwing accurate passes beyond 15 yds is not one of them.
We need to recruit some 7 foot receivers with Olympic class high jumping ability…
Those slow-developing mid-range pass plays have always been in the Riley coaching tree. They work great when the QB has time in the pocket and experience. The problem is that Utah has a pretty good defense, got a lot of pressure on Nolan, and was able to get by with a Cover 2 zone most of the night. He had some scrambling lanes because of their defense. I think he did ok considering there was no running back run game. He and Colletto had most of the rushing yards. He can’t backpedal and take those huge sacks and I don’t think he trusts his eyes to throw receivers open yet or the routes were not good. I’m curious to see if he improves against Stanford. That’s all that can be asked at this point.
They did him no favors with the play calling. Fly sweep or simple screens? However, I was thinking about what Pat Casey would say about it….
“If you’re a D1 athlete, you’re supposed to be able to make the play.”
So, consistent with program character, OSU can’t build on a win, can’t build and sustain momentum. Can’t win with a mobile back up QB, though other programs always seem to defeat OSU with freshmen QBs, mobile QBs, and first time starters. WTF. Nolan’s completion percentage and TD:INT ratio look like classic Derek Andereson at low 50%, 1:1. How long has Nolan been throwing the football to people? In today’s game, young QBs train a lot and come in knowing how to throw. Why does OSU always make it look so fucking difficult and yet others can beat OSU with QBs of similar experience?
OSU D gives up 229 yards rushing, apparently doesn’t capitalize on TO opportunities (2 dropped INTs?) from what I read here.
Utah w/96(!) penalty yards too. Have to take advantage of that.
Sounds like an all around weak outing from both coaching and players.
Smith probably got some of his aggressiveness from Erickson, and hopefully should have learned systematics and consistency from Peterson. Maybe some peer review with Casey and Rueck would be helpful in the off season….
