Angry is picking some low scores the past couple weeks with Oregon State’s sling it offense and gaudy numbers from Mannion and Cooks. Richardson will test the OSU secondary and beat them deep atleast once but Cooks is ready to have a highlight day with zero turnovers and also should be at his best. Hopefully the weather isn’t much of a factor for the air attack as the tendancies to mostly put off the running game will continue. Right now Langsdorf especially just doesn’t have the faith in the run and would rather put his trust in Mannion. Colorado will hang around throughout and put a 4th quarter scare into the Beavs but unless OSU beats themselves the Buffs shouldn’t be able to quite match the Beavers’ offensive production.
Angry is picking some low scores the past couple weeks
Really? Last week I predicted 34 for OSU, which is what they scored.
I can see how people think this will be high scoring, though. My feeling is OSU’s offense is good, but not as great as they’ve looked (due to bad defenses they’ve faced), and passing attacks can’t be relied on every week. Plus there’s more pressure to perform at home, and I don’t feel Riley ever has his teams ready to meet pressure or expectations. Maybe I am wrong. We’ll see.
At least I commit it to writing. Guys, like BeavitorNot and other JPerry varations, will show up ex post facto all to ready to share their opinions and how they were right (in their head, i guess?)… ha ha.
Just checked, Vegas has the over/under at 59. I am at 52. Not too different.
Now that it’s here, I am looking forward to this game. For an OSU team that’s not playing good football in terms of run blocking, tackling, playing well for four quarters, etc. a home game against an improving Pac foe is just what they need if they’re to improve and get ready for the difficult portion of their schedule. More Mageo, Scott, and Christian would all help today and going forward.
Well said, but I would rather see Hunt than Scott. Burn the RS now or never.
I don’t think Scott is very good, nor do I think he has any upside. He’s a backup nickle db imo.
Thrown up in double coverage, nice fair catch Cooks.
CU QB not playing too well, interesting to see if he adjusts after half.
Good thing Nelson covers/plays ball well, when he “tackled” the QB on that one series he needed a tartan skirt. Not impressed with his one-on-one tackling at Utah either.
Looking at the graphics, the Beaver logo looks good without an outline (as pointed out on this site previously) would probably look pretty good on a black helmet.
Mannion was used to lots of time, the looping D man strips him.
Will be interesting to see if OSU gets “out adjusted.” CU could probabl come out up tempo, run the ball, move it, and keep Mannion on the sidelines, especially since the point differential is manageable.
Hey – Brown at RB, Ward at FB for the quick hitter up the middle, second effort gets a first down!
That last TD could be the game winner. CO can’t score 14, I don’t think. The QB is playing so poorly I just don’t see it. Richardson is unimpressive. He got a lot of yards off blown coverages. The comparisons to Cooks aren’t accurate.
This CO QB throws funny…looks like a ballerina on ice or something. Doesn’t plant, kind of slides around and throws off his toes like a dandy. I can’t believe this is their best option, and that this guy is D1.
This isn’t hyperbole: he’s the worst D1 QB I’ve ever seen.
Exactly! i think we all like seeing Riley being a bit more “unconventional” in his approach, but this is way, way too much!
Get Mannion and Cooks to the showers!
But he was a 4-star recruit with many good offers, and played poorly as a Freshman. Had drops and bad routes. Now he not only looks the part but is producing.
This Colorado team has me wondering if they are the worst Pac team the Beavers have played in the last decade or so. Some of the Wazzu teams were pretty bad but this Colorado team, especially the offense, is just atrocious.
Post-game discussion clearly has to be whether OSU turned a page and are this good, or CO is just atrocious. I’m trying to make a case for either while I watch the last 15 minutes…it’s hard. Beavs passing game is good but overinflated due to their competition. D looked good, as usual, versus an immobile QB. Did we learn anything?
Beavs really need to adopt an uptempo practice for both O and D units. 75% of PAC teams run up tempo offenses now, and OSU is poorly prepared for them. As Kelly says, “It’s easier to slow down the to hurry up.”
CU trying to show Riley how you can overcome talent deficiencies with pace. Why CU didn’t do this earlier given OSU’s historic weakness against face paced offenses is beyond me. Especially with a ‘slightly’ mobile QB that reminds Riley of Utah’s QB.
Anyone notice if Jovan got some playing time? This will be 3 games in the doghouse (deservedly so) if he didn’t.
To be clear, he deserved the doghouse, maybe not three full games though.
Not a bad performance….think CO offense is horrible, and ORST defense playing average, which is all I can ask for at this point. Good to see the backups get some touches….Offense performed as predicted. A lot of garbage yards by CO. Give Beavs about a “B” grade.
Good to see the PAC-12 officials still missing calls even with the replays — not sure how Richardson’s foot was not out of bounds on that last TD….also saw him scoop one up off the turf earlier in the 4th. WOW….glad this game wasn’t close.
I concur. Clear as day on the replay. Illegal touching should have nullified the TD. Pac-12 inept officiating strikes again. Not that it really mattered in the outcome
I am curious to find out what blog system you’re utilizing?
I’m experiencing some small security problems with my latest website and I’d like to find
something more safeguarded. Do you have any suggestions?
Go Beavs!
Go BEAVS!

OSU 41, Colorado 31

Sounds like Vegas thinking around 35-24. Not a bad pick. I’ll be a bit surprised if OSU falls short of 35.
Good call, BB.
Any link to the game?
Could be here, but not up yet:

Hoping Romeo tees off today.
And yes, hoping Brown gets some touches….

Both Beavs lines winning the battle early on.
Christian was in and did I see hashes James?
Jashwa. Fucking autocorrect.
This CO QB looks horrible. They might not score 14.
Yeah he’s pretty sputtery.
Let’s not give our D that much credit just yet.
You try throwing into a 27 MPH wind.
Turn on the game just in time to see Mullaney give up an INT. Good start.
What was I saying in pre-game thread about throwing every down resulting in tips/interceptions…hmm.
Did I just see a touchdown saving open field tackle?
That was a great play.
Nice fucking tackle!!!
I guess we just saw why riley didn’t dial up any screens to ward last week. He’s got boom hands.
OSU: worst screen team in the nation…..
Un-Mullaney like…nice tackle Johnson.
ugh. Two teams that can’t run on a wet, windy day when it is tough to throw and catch the ball. This might be the final score. …..
Thrown up in double coverage, nice fair catch Cooks.

what were the plays to get the Beavs down near the goal line after the punt?! I walked out of the room after CO punted.
Huge pass to cooks, fly sweep to cooks.
Is the O gonna waste this chance to step on the throat?
Is mullaney hung over?
So far, the third down plays have at least been past the sticks. Now if they can be completions.
Riley needs to stick his finger in the air and realize the wind is blowing a hundred miles an hour and stop having Mannion air it out every play.
Who is #1?
Chris Brown
Mannion was used to lots of time, the looping D man strips him.
Will be interesting to see if OSU gets “out adjusted.” CU could probabl come out up tempo, run the ball, move it, and keep Mannion on the sidelines, especially since the point differential is manageable.
Hey – Brown at RB, Ward at FB for the quick hitter up the middle, second effort gets a first down!
Wow! Emotion from Riley, gotta love it! finally
Wow. In that wind, that TD pass to Cooks was pretty impressive.
If OSU can come in the third and score on the first drive, things start looking better.
It would help if Cooks would step up and start producing…
Nice hands by Tim McM on the PAT
That last TD could be the game winner. CO can’t score 14, I don’t think. The QB is playing so poorly I just don’t see it. Richardson is unimpressive. He got a lot of yards off blown coverages. The comparisons to Cooks aren’t accurate.
also cu is playing in the wind now.
That’s clear. He’s nowhere near Cooks….league play can reveal some warts.
If Beavs get 7 to open the second half, how soon do you go to Vaz in order to protect Mannion?
You don’t. You go to Vanderveen.
Mannion still composed even with the elements working against him.
Get’s kinda quiet around here when the game is in Corvallis, huh?
The wind today has been a true testament to Mannion’s capabilities.
And a true test of receivers.
It’s not so much that OSU is playing good D. Colorado’s offensive ineptitude in the elements is more likely the cause of the halftime score…
I don’t think the D looks bad, though. But it’s impossible to take anything away from this since CO’s QB is HORRIBLE.
Hope OSU puts on a sharp 2nd half performance. A good time to earn a 4 star recruit commit or two for 2014.
Sweep to narrow side, as usual.
Cooks with his 2nd TD early in the 3rd. Making a very strong case for Pac-12 and the nation’s best. Now Beavers get a turnover. Great 2nd half start!
His numbers were 3rd best in the nation behind Mannion’s #2 heading into this game. Amazingly hard to believe but true.
Wow, yeah, that is shocking.
Well, just two games and against the level of competition they faced can do that.
Ahem…
Zach Maynard was no Connor Wood.
Missed the opening drive. Any highlights?
http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=332710204
ESPN has highlights for every score.
Ward TD! That might do it for Colorado’s undefeated season….
Ward looks like the game might be slowing down for him a bit. Showing good vision and some nice moves.
Beavs pick up their 2nd turnover on the Buffs in a row on kickoffs!! Go Beavs!
Another TO by Colorado. They’re in for a long, depressing Pac-12 slate.
Riley!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you trying to hurt Mannion!?!?!?!?!?!
Exactly! i think we all like seeing Riley being a bit more “unconventional” in his approach, but this is way, way too much!
Get Mannion and Cooks to the showers!
Do not like the throwback to man noon. Good way to get him blown up in space.
Hey, GWH, lettin’ your buck run free?
Washington archery…waiting for late season.
Caleb Smith might be a pro TE. Looks the part and is starting to produce, finally.
He’s only a sophomore.
I know.
But he was a 4-star recruit with many good offers, and played poorly as a Freshman. Had drops and bad routes. Now he not only looks the part but is producing.
I hear you. We’re looking nice at TE for the next few years!
Time for Vanderveen!
How do you get a roughing the passer penalty for unnecessary roughness perhaps on a receiver?
Mannion gets his 5th TD of the day and Caleb Smith his 2nd. One more Mannion TD would set the OSU record I believe. HE HAS GOT TO GET IT!!!
Is that sack by Zimm his best play of the year?
I was shocked he didn’t flail as he got near the QB. Was a nice tackle
One more Mannion TD then we can put in Vaz.
Forget records, Mannion and Cooks must stay healthy for this team to have any success. Keeping them in is a simple cost/benefit fail on Riley’s part!
Agree. Records mean nothing. Gotta take out the starters next series, especially Cooks.
This Colorado team has me wondering if they are the worst Pac team the Beavers have played in the last decade or so. Some of the Wazzu teams were pretty bad but this Colorado team, especially the offense, is just atrocious.
Washington, when Tyrone Willingham was there comes to mind…
A lot of unnecessarily dropped balls today. Hopefully they’re learning something from these opportunities.
The trainer was nursing Mannion’s left hand on the sideline a few minutes ago. Wonder what the deal is with that?
Parker mentioned earlier that Mannion had a scrape on left arm/elbow.
Only that CU’s offensive numbers have been inflated by poor competition.
Slim hopes for a decent bowl game rest entirely on Mannion – what the fuck is he doing in there with a 35 point lead?!?
Trying to get a school record 6 TD passes, that’s why
BIG, BIG mistake !!!!
Riley’s unfamiliarity with big leads on display?
In addition to not tackling in practice, does Banker also outlaw cardio work? Beavs, as usual, look more winded than competition.
Beavs really need to adopt an uptempo practice for both O and D units. 75% of PAC teams run up tempo offenses now, and OSU is poorly prepared for them. As Kelly says, “It’s easier to slow down the to hurry up.”
Mannion STILL in?
CU trying to show Riley how you can overcome talent deficiencies with pace. Why CU didn’t do this earlier given OSU’s historic weakness against face paced offenses is beyond me. Especially with a ‘slightly’ mobile QB that reminds Riley of Utah’s QB.
Yeah that might be the confirmation that nothing has changed, despite the nice score.
Needed that score and one more…the conflicted life of a gambler…
I held out hope we’d see Vaz here. Got to get that kid “meaningful” snaps.
When are we going to see the orange uniforms?
Winning ugly now…another indication not much has been learned?
The black uni’s make wins or losses ugly.
NOW Mannion can sit..
And Cooks!
Chris Brown got his first touch today. 1 catch for 6 yards.
Why not give the guy a couple carries and see what he can do?
Agree. Let him have some carries.
There’s your boy!
And he’s looked awesome on two carries.
Why did someone thumb me down for saying Brown should get carries? lol
Thought he fumbled his first carry earlier in the game. been looking pretty good since though
And just like that there’s Brown.
Anyone know if CO has their scrubs in there? Brown looks good.
Don’t know but I like what I see.
Looked like their starting D to me.
Our scrubs are in there. Sean Martin, for example
Nice comment, literally made me lol.
Anyone notice if Jovan got some playing time? This will be 3 games in the doghouse (deservedly so) if he didn’t.
To be clear, he deserved the doghouse, maybe not three full games though.

And this with Jay Stricker nowhere in sight.
It’s Stricherz. But you point still stands
Wasn’t Stricherz crew. I’m sure he’ll screw us later in the season.
Really? It was Shawn Hochuli and crew. We already knew this
There’s Richardson in garbage time, burning who? Tell me it wasn’t Martin lol…
Marable
Lol
Richardson is the Arod of NCAA football. Wracking up stats vs scrubs. Backward K vs starters. It’s offensive they compared this guy to Cooks.
