Did Anyone Else Get the “Unite” Donor/Media Guide?

44

One arrived in the mail today. It is impressive.

My question: where did OSU get all the money to make these? These books had to be $5 each, at least, given the quality of paper and inks. I’d guess even more (maybe double that). It basically looks like a fancy book.

Marketing department is usually terrible, but this is a really nice design, presentation, and a clear message.

I’ll probably donate a little more just because they got it right. You can really sense the changes and vision we’ve all asked for finally coming to fruition. If the marketing department can up their game, that will help everyone. This book is really nice. I made a donation when GA was hired (I’m not sure if only donors get these or if they were sent out to everyone).

If you guys didn’t get one and want to see, I will take a picture tomorrow, or maybe someone can upload a photo of theirs. I don’t have the time to do all that right now.

  1. Got mine last weekend. agreed it must have cost a pretty penny. theyre asking people to tweet pictures of themselves holding it with the hashtag #Un1te or something like that. I’m sure you could search that on twitter and see plenty of pics

  2. look i’ll make it simple…. the WHOLE STATE OF TEXAS WILL BE SHUT OFF to osu recruiting if this school cant compete for anything relevant in any real sports.

We are well woven into the fabric of so many successful programs and we can remove our thread with YALL EZ if you just wanna keep losin’!

When was the last time OSU won any part of a conference championship? lucky you even get any Texas kids as it is!!!!

    • Cool story bro. When was the last time Texas or ANY school in Texas won anything relevant in any real sports? Mens hoops? Nooooope. Try, well, NEVER. Baseball? 2005. Beavs have 2 more relevant than that. Football? Vince Young in 2005. So yeah that’s really all ya got.

  3. Waaaaaaay off topic: If you missed tonight’s episode of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, you reeeeeeeeally missed out. I was in tears with the restaurant scene with Dennis, Mac and Charlie

    • I used to be friends with some of the guys on that show. Grew up in some of the same crowds back east. One guy even was in my first band.

      • Kaitlin Olson who plays Sweet Dee on the show is from Tigard and graduated from the university we despise south of Corvallis. She’s also married to Rob McElhenney (sic) who plays Mac on the show. Been watching it for years and I think it’s fucking hilarious

        • I knew a guy whose cousin’s sister in law once talked to a guy in a bar that bumped into a guy that mows the lawn of the dude that delivered a pizza to that show once.

  4. We can make this a general thread.

I’ll try to whip something up for baseball, but not sure if I’ll have time. Definitely looking forward to Friday, though. I think the pitching might make the Beavs better than people expect.

    • Or it may make them worse. One never knows how freshman will pan out. Everybody was pumped about C Eden and how did that turn out? Of all the losses from last year, Wetzler I think will be the biggest. Good leader and he was a battler on the mound. Always expected to win when they handed him the ball. If they finish in the upper half of the conference, it will be a testament to how good Pat Casey is. Beav’s lost a ton of talent from last year.

  5. looking at the box score, it’s no fucking wonder the beavs lost. When only 4 players make FG’s during an entire fucking game and one of them is Justin Stangel, you’ve got problems. 53 of the beavers 59 points came from GP II (24), Langston Morris-Walker (19) and Jarmal Reid (10). And even Reid shot poorly (2/9, but 6/7 on FT’s). That is a recipe for disaster. Duvivier, Olaf, Gomis and N’Diaye contributed next to nothing. Had it not been for at least some defensive effort (14 turnovers), they would’ve been blown out by at least 30.

  6. The Unite booklet arrived last week with the renewal for my season Football tickets. I thought it was well done and surprised it included more than just Football information.

    • I watched him and that other tard’s podcast about pac-12 hoops the other day and quit about 3 minutes in when they both said Cal is horrible. Apparently neither of them is paying any attention.

  7. I’m guessing some of the marketing money will be coming from us, the season ticket holder and donors. They spent money before they had it.

I mean season tickets are $379 vs $290 last year with one less game.

The avg price per game last year was $41.42. This year it’s $63.16. A 50% increase! And that’s not counting the donation.

  8. basketball info for the ensuing season has always been included but this was such a significant upgrade I actually called the Athletic Department and complimented them on it. Not only does it link the seat donation with the ticket order but the parking information is FAR more transparent than the hocus-pocus they used to send out separately in May.

  9. I got mine in the mail last week, it is really slick. They had something similar last year which was a total upgrade from the years past. It seems Mark Massari has his hands on alot of this marketing stuff, and I give him credit for the vision. When we get our tickets those have been pretty cool the last few years as well.

As far as the ticket prices go, I don’t have too much of a problem with it as they are trying to generate some money to get this VTV built, and ticket prices is another way to do it. Donations from what I can tell have stayed pretty much the same.

THere is pretty good energy coming from the Athletic Dept. It would really help if the Baseball team rises up like Hoops has and keeps in the National picture.

    • I was at a summer BBQ 2 years ago that Kate Brown was invited to as well. (only about 20 people there tops) I got a really bad impression from my interaction with her. Seemed only interested in talking to me until she found out i wasn’t in politics and in no way could help advance her career. I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s driving some of this bad publicity for Kitzhaber to help push her into the Governor’s role ASAP. I was very unimpressed with her and hope she doesn’t end up replacing him.

      • I’m not sure being personable is the mostest awesomest metric for gauging an elected official’s integrity and professional acumen. And you whiffed big time on this one.

There’s something besides the ho-hum nondisclosure of “fees” half the spouses of politicos all over the country get from these stupid lobbying groups. Not that I’ve ever really liked Kitzhaber that much, but he seems to be going loopy in the last couple months.

        • he would’ve been better signing with the ducks or any team from the SEC where there is a no tolerance policy. If you have no tolerance to smoking weed, come here and build up your tolerance. Meaning they don’t give a shit. Pulls up rug, sweep sweep, what?

          • Oh… I thought you were talking about the disturbing part of it all… the assault.

            Sorry.

Then again, this has a little Duke Lacrosse flavor to it.
