Bringing up Uncle Phil has no negative effect for Duck fans… they do not care whatsoever that it took Phil Knights money to build that program to where it is today.
Their response will be something along the lines of “Go get a Phil Knight of your own if you’re so jealous.”
Unfortunately, Oregon State does not have the resources that it takes to equal one Phil Knight, and probably never will.
At least you can take comfort in knowing that you aren’t a little arrogant bastard prick that needs to be slapped around a bit like a lot of Duck fans are.
I’d rather stay a humble fan than turn into an arrogant slut.
Eventually Phil Knight is going to die, and so are the ducks. As Bob Dylan said, the loser now will be later to win.
He should have added, “so long as Riley puts the right guys on the field.”
