Let the Dismantling of Oregon State Football Begin

1,448

My guess is Smith will be gone soon. Maybe by Monday.

Martinez has a quote up on Twitter how he doesn’t want to go, but his plan is his plan. I expect at least 50% of our roster to enter the portal. Smith will definitely take Chiles with him to a next gig. My guess is only unproven players remain to try to prove themselves, and then move to a P5 team next year.

This will be the state of Beaver football. We’ll be a recruiting ground for P5 transfers, and it’s why I was adamant we had to try to get into the Big 12 or make a killer independent schedule. This redefining of the PAC and/or joining the MWC will result in catastrophy.

What people got wrong about Smith is they assumed some great loyalty to OSU. Probably true if he could relive his glory years, but he can’t with 8 of those schools gone. He’ll be able to relive them more in the BIG10 playing the former top PAC schools, and I think that’s what he wants to do. Too competitive to play MWC schools, which is what I said all along.

Time to exit the world of college football with a whimper. :(

We pretty much have nothing to play for, a coach who will be leaving, recruits who will be entering the transfer portal in days, an away game in a hostile environment vs a rival, and mountain west competition in the offing. This is an all time low, and I think it will show in the players’ performance. :(

70-19 Ducks as Jonathan Smith does some crazy shit early on, convinced he can’t win the game, that results in a bizarre 19 points.

This is going to be a game where you can make any analogy with the butt. Butt pounding, prison style, etc, so post your favorite butt phrases below. That given, I’m most curious to hear where Beaver fans are at after that brutal loss.

– We have a gambler at HC who is likely going to leave.
– We had a chance at a special season that our HC sabotaged.
– We’re about to get our butts made sore by the Ducks.
– We’re headed to the MWC or something equally bad like adding them to the PAC.
– We’re about to lose a lot of our best players to the transfer portal.

We went from a program on the rise with an up and coming HC to a program one game away from being left out of P5 for good, our coach getting poached. And before you say other schools won’t want him after his poor calls this year, realize: even though he is not good at in game management, we have such a bad reputation that everyone but us will objectively see him as brilliant.

So where are you at? I’m very defeated. I don’t see anything bright in the offing.

Ducks 56, Beavs 24

Secondary prediction: Sith gets poached before our bowl game.

I’m sticking with the pick from the prior thread, and hoping no matter the outcome, the refs don’t play a part in this game either way.

Logic pick: Huskies 35-28
Heart pick: Beavs somehow pull out a nail biter 33-30

The Beavs get snubbed by Gameday for James Madison. What a joke that is, but ESPN basically owns the Ducks and probably does not want to give the Beavs any added pub if the game next week is for all the marbles. That’s what this joke of a game has become.

My gut says the Huskies are the better team with a passing attack we can’t fully stop. So the questions becomes can we stop that passing game enough, can we feed off the home field, can we feed of the Gameday snub, can we run on the Huskies enough to setup a few big plays downfield, can we get a big play or two on ST, and can Smith call an appropriate game? These are the ways you win games you’re not supposed to win. Regarding Smith: I do think this is the type of game it’s appropriate to be more aggressive than usual. That doesn’t mean stupid, but say it’s 4th and 1 at the 40. Go for those types of plays in this type of game.

Go Beavs!
