13.Dec.2012 Did the Beavs Solve Their DB Woes?
The highest rated DB before this morning was Brandon Arnold. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEdnBbFCnPc
Some things that stand out:
- He's playing safety on many of these interceptions.
- He doesn't trust his speed (keeps looking back on the 2nd INT)
- On the third INT, he's looking for any reason to go to the ground.
What I'm seeing is he doesn't have top end speed (or at least doesn't trust it) and he's soft. Now, if you watch further he plays the run tough, comes up and makes hit, etc. I don't know what to make of this guy, but I am not overly impressed.
Many are feeling like OSU solved their CB concerns this morning because Steven Nelson signed with the Beavs, and he holds a USC offer. I like what I see from Nelson. Big, strong, fast, embraces contact, but most of his film is punt/kick returns: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4naDVZ_EWqQ
What do you think, are these guys the answer? Tyler Hasty should be in the mix next year, but with my cursory glance at Nelson I think he could line up opposite Reynolds.
