7:30 kick off on Pac network.
Beavs have historically played well at Cal, but it’s hard to see how this D is going to stop Cal’s QB. I can’t find any intriguing reason to watch this game. I’ll check it out to see if there’s any growth but not expecting much.
38-10, Cal.
Go Beavs.
Thinking 3 NM 1st half turnovers, and MM coming in late in the 4th quarter down 4+ TD’s
Never trust a coach named Dykes.
He was asked what worries him facing Oregon St. I tuned out. The answer is nothing. This game I do not expect to be close. Cal has not been playing well. OSU is just what the dr ordered
It will be a strange game….Cal gets the early lead, but a tornado hits, sucks up most of the Cal team…..only four Cal players left. OSU still has trouble getting any offense going, with false starts, incompletions, fumbles and such. Cal holds on to the early lead and wins a nail dragger….
A tornado in Berkeley? An Aids epedemic would be more believable
…global warming….future weather will be more extreme….
Berkeley will be underwater…..so scuba football.
Aids joke, really?
you have something against Aids?
…guess I shoulda said, knuckle dragger….
If the score holds tonight, we could be a Cal upset of Stanford next week (definitely not out of the realm of possibility) from Oregon being in line to make it to the Rose Bowl in their down/rebuilding season.
That thought is just depressing.
Without Vernon Adams transferring, they don’t even make a bowl. Lucky spoiled bastards.
Vernon is a tool and looks like a chick
What, you don’t like his cute nose diamond stud?
Caitlyn Adams?
If stanford loses don’t the cougs have the tie breaker in the north?
Only against Oregon. If Stanford, Oregon, and WSU all finish with 2 conference losses, I have no idea who wins the north.
Since they would all be 1-1 against the other teams in the tie, the next tiebreaker is division record. Oregon would have 1 division loss, and Stanford/Wazzou would each have two.
Oregon does. Dickhead, I mean Ted Miller covered this on the pac-12 blog. It would come down to conference division losses. Oregon would only have 1, Stanford and WSU 2
Excuse me while I blow chunks
Was nice to watch 40 full minutes of beaver basketball end with a 22 point win. I’ve got an unfounded, unjustifiable positive feeling about this game. Go beavs.
I’m here supporting in Berkeley. Go BEAVS!!!
Why don’t we just wear white on the road, what an ugly ass combo today
Agree. The all white is our only non ugly uni.
Nike gives us crap. Gee I wonder why.
We should ditch Nike and sign with underarmour
We might have the worst uniforms in the country.
Tree just blew up. Fumbled inside the 20 with 2 min left
Hogan just loss them the game.
I think uncle Phil paid hogan to blow it
God NM is bad.
Pretty good first couple of plays and then burph.
Mitchell is terrible. Nobody worked on his delivery the last two years?
Hey asshole, quit giving me minus ones. i’m just going to put in a “self plus” to balance it out.
YAY NM!!! He’s the best!
NM is so bad.
No pac12 in the playoff.
I think I’m over the football season for the year
I never noticed how slow his release is until tonight, announcers are calling him out as well.
I don’t see how MM could be worse, but I trust the coaches? Andersen does have a history of FN up QB depth charts…
Cal QB looked pretty bad there, too.
Just give him a min
Isaac at tackle
Lucky ducks
Hey we got across mid-field wooho.
Geez terrible throw right there JV was open, could’ve been a TD with a good throw
Mitchell underthrows Villytron. Would have been a TD with a competent QB.
About the only thing I have left to root for this year is that Iowa dumps Nebraska next week to deny Biley a shitty second tier bowl game. Thank God the Quacks took three losses early to shut down natty talk from the get go.
They can still win the Pac, and I could see Nike lining the pockets to get a good bowl
Must be a bad year for punters for Proseski to be a Ray Guy semi-finalist?
Oregon cuts down Tree.
Stanford let the nation down
Did Decoud throw a pass?
Why do we always have so many guys getting hurt? How are we so fucking soft?
GA did comment how “weak” they were this summer, thanks Riley!
I was about to type the same question, it seems much higher than previous seasons, right?
Who got hurt?
Hill and Chappell on the same play.
That Loofa guy got hurt last night for the Buffs and is out 6-8 months
Well when you have 52 freshmen on your team, you most likely will be a smaller team. Plus, you only have 37 schollies on defense, after red shirts you have barely a two deep at every position.
Hey angry, it blocked me… I’m not being that bad
From my posting through my celly
fill out a request to allow you
Big stop, NM don’t fuck this up
Paul Lucas nice!
Lucas > Woods
I don’t understand how I can throw a football better than a guy playing D1 football in the Pac12
My gamecast is showing Lucas had three 30+ yard runs in a row, but 2 came back on holds?
2 big rushes, 1 called back.
Just run the ball. With NM at QB this should be a team that throws 10-15 times if the game is still not a blow out. Even on 1st and 17 try two running plays and see what happens.
Why aren’t the two guys on the out side of the 3 man wall blocking the punt rushers?
RUN THE BALL. Ugh
Anyone have a good stream? Mine are…not lol
http://pac12hd2-lh.akamaihd.net/i/p12baya_delivery@132837/master.m3u8
For anyone lacking.
Nice stat line by NM right now, 3-9 for 3.2 YPA. for 29 yards. I think he only plays because of his brother and GA has a huge hard on for Josh.
Holy crap, that catch was amazing.
We were in his final three and he announced on signing day. I just cring every time he makes a catch.
He has a pretty good highlight reel. That’s pretty disappointing. You’d think with the number of receivers we’ve signed the past few years we’d have some more studs. Just Villamin.
What happened to Jarmon? He looked so good last year, but this year he’s majoring in Dropping Passes. Taught by Professor Boldin, I believe.
Cal is very beatable. Too bad we suck.
We’re getting shutout by one of the worst defenses in the conference. Sure they’re great guys and all, but DAMN is this offense bad at football!
It’s always the little things with struggling teams, they had them stopped on the 3rd and short until that late little push and then of course they hit a big pass play next.
Checkmate.
The. Slowest. Release. In. Football.
I gave myself a new gravatar. That purple thing sucked.
Test.
Alright, this one will do.
I guess this is how Jack feels.
You’ve gone from blue to green to purple to red/blue lol
Next I’m going to tartan.
I’m back to being purple.
Storm>Lucas.
why?
5.2 YPC with our crappy line is why. People get excited over a 30 yard run once in a blue moon. That’s great. Storm just gets 5 per carry, over and over.
Storm is garbage, doesn’t move the chains and is a huge pussy. Are you his mom or something?
What part of 5.2 YPC don’t you understand. That means EVERY OTHER CARRY is a first down.
Seriously, what part of basic math do you not understand? But yeah, he’s a huge pussy. Tell me about your physical exploits, you beast you.
I attended training camp for the Chicago Machine, LA Riptide and Denver Outlaws most recently as this sping after playing in college, what have you done bitch?
Look it up
Lucas >Woods in terms of YPC tonight if you wanna be a bitch about it
True Freshman Lucas 6-35 5.83 YPC
5th year Senior Woods 3-14 4.7 YPC
Please google “Small Sample Size” and then spout off about stupid shit like single game stats.
You “Attended Camp” lol. Con-fucking-gradulations. Too bad those aren’t real things. AND they don’t mean you know fucking anything.
Another missed long throw to an open WR.
Put in MM please.
NM doesn’t even know how to find windows to throw the ball and he looks smaller than listed to me.
New drinking game:
Take a shot every time Mitchell misses an open receiver down field.
Take two shots every time they run a big play that gets called back because of penalty.
Be fair here; Boldin is like 5’8″. An average-height receiver stays in-bounds there.
I would like to stay sober up to halftime, so I won’t be playing.
Sweet Viagra commercial, but they know Nall is out this game, right?
Owens is a good kicker. Might be our best offensive player!
Remember how our defenses used to create turnovers? That was awesome. Way back then.
See above bitch boy… What have you done in your life physically besides beat off in your mom’s basement. Oh and Storm doesn’t move the chains every two times he touches the ball… Bitch
This guy. LOL
What mad I put you in your place, shut the fuck up and watch the game bitch
Again, LOL. Didn’t know Donald Trump was watching the Neavers game.
I’m not going to come out and say you need anger management. But, I think this is definitely a sign when you’ve drank to much and when your team is losing. Now you are taking it out on fellow fans.
Why he tried to call me out physically cause I said Storm sucks.
You escalated it right off the bat for saying “are you his mom or something?”. And then it took off from there.
How is that any worse by personally insulting me? What are you his girlfriend, let him fight his own fight like a big boy.
Than* Also, don’t appreciate the drinking problem shot, considering I’m not drinking. Lane to the rescue!
Gotta score a TD here.
Lucas did however, just move the chains on back to back carries unlike your BF Stormy… Lindsay is that you?
Storm hasn’t been the same since that hit at Utah.
Last time I checked we’re all beaver fans here. So why the attack?
No shit. this guy is roid raging HARD.
No just talking shit back
I could have caught that.
Maybe we should all use our eligibility and help GA turn this around. I know I can throw a better ball than Mitchell.
I have four years available!
I would but I’d be in the hospital after one play.
Glass Joe+old does not equal fb player.. Sorry GA, toughness left this body about 10 years ago
Mine is used up.
What the hell is wrong with our receivers? Why so many drops?
Hawkins drops the 3rd down pass, right in his chest.
Complain about Mitchell, it’s easy. But he gets no fucking help, either.
Shit begats shit….such is the plight of the 2015 Beavers.
Even if Hawkins wouldn’t have gotten the first down, that drop (along with all the others) will keep most any QB from getting into a good rhythm.
Seems to me the play calling is more fitting for the guys that are playing.
so know that it is 17-3 with under 5 to play in the 1st half is this were the D gives up?
They looked pretty clueless on that last drive.
also where is the big running back? Nell?
Nall. Concussion.
sorry I missed the 1st qrt I went to the Basketball game
he was hurt last weekend against FUCLA, didn’t play in the 2nd half
And his status has been in the news all week.
You can blame the offense all you want, but that defense was just not getting it done on that drive.
Is Rod Perry still unemployed?
no he is with NU I think
He didn’t go to Nebraska.
Correct, last I knew, he still had kid(s) in school at OSU.
Andersen needs to call him in the off season. This secondary looks like white dogshit.
Our offense is offensive
ok game over 24-3 wow the beavers are horrible
There just isn’t enough Pac 12 talent, no matter how you spin it.
Yeah. It’s about time our defense starts getting gassed. Or plain gives up.
Just gave up I think.
I think I’ve even given up
TD Beavers so the key is to stop trying
So, Baylor’s playoff chances more or less end, Oregon stays alive for the chance to win the division, and Oregon State is putting together another typical 2015 performance. Easily the worst day of college football for me this year. Time for another drink!
And Nebraska won.
We seriously look like a low tier FCS team. We are fucking terrible.
I don’t think we can call this football. It’s insulting to real football teams.
I can’t even get the shitty stream from the Pac-12 website to work. Even the Pac-12 doesn’t want to watch OSU football
I posted a good link up above if you need a stream.
donkey shit
doesn’t work for me either. I had to pause ghostery blocking to get the pac-12 stream to work. still choppy as usual
Bummer. Mine opens in VLC player. It’s sensitive, but it was working. I didn’t find any other good ones.
I had one of the two working on stream2watch but it froze up so I missed Cal’s last touchdown. Maybe there is a god after all?
It doesn’t work
Atta boy!!!
Hey what just happened?
I don’t know that this thing is? is it legally to score TDs for the Beavers
4 things we haven’t seen in a few weeks. A drive, recievers catching passes, a throw that’s longer than 5 yards that is accurate and a touchdown. That’s a lot to take in.
“That’s a lot to take in”
That’s what she said
Lol, I knew that was coming.
Spit on it.
nope. much like the beavers pac-12 opponents, I’m going in dry
TD Beavers it is now 24-10, so if the Beavers just played fast and stopped think they paly better
I did like how GA and staff went for it. Called that timeout with 32 seconds left It’s what you have to do when the outcome doesn’t really matter. The stupid analyst was saying you don’t want Mitchell to throw an interception….who cares? You’re down 24-3 anyway.
Who the fuck would minus this comment.? Show yourself pussy and explain why you disagree?
Falk out with a concussion and their backup can’t throw 5 yards to a wide open receiver.
but can throw the fade for a TD so who cares?
I guess. Lots of football left.
Sounds familiar.
I switched to UFC, but Villamin has 6 catches now? I swear we just forget we have a 6’4″ receiver with good hands on the field sometimes. Or does he get subbed out a lot? Either way, 6 catches seems like a season high. Need more throwing to him, less to Hawkins/Jarmon/Boldin.
One of them was a screen and he’s not much of a screen guy. We’ll take what we can get I guess.
Whatever we gotta do lol.
I’m liking what I see from Lucas though. Looks like a legit home run threat.
ya but he’s not as good as Stormy
He has 1 carry for 33 yards, and 9 carries for 29 yards. Personally, I don’t like the homerun-or-bust RBs, but maybe I’m just old-fashioned.
It’s actually 9 carries for 21 yards. Much worse.
What Stormy got going this game?
Still 5.4 YPC vs Storm’s 4.7 YPC, which is better.
Get him some consistent blocking and he’ll be off to the races.
Night of upsets.
Utah not playing well against Arizona.
This has been a shitty day of football.
Glad we got that momentum to start the second half
Noland-Lewis burnt on back to back plays…
He sucks hard. same fucking play, 10 yards behind him.
My main man, Mr. Toast. Man he sucks.
but he’s one of the fastest guys on the team. I can’t believe anything GA and this staff say about the Riley holdovers anymore. You can’t come out and call one of your players “hot garbage”
Wait I thought Nolanhyphenlewis was the fastest guy in the world? Goff has his number and he looks like a fucking middle schooler out there.
At least the blocked the PAT… haha
Yes.Bolden!
Nice Lucas with another big run
erp NVM
Unleash the Wild Beaver!
Get the boats ready boys, time to go racing.
You can find me behind the woodshed
Just chunk play after chunk play. I have to admit, I did not think it was going to be this bad. I wonder if Riley knew the shit storm that was coming? He surely would have been fired or “retired” if he had stayed.
Looks like we left our A game in CorVegas.
There’s an A game?
Goff is just shredding us, thinking Angry was right, Sitake might not be a good fit
Utah never looked this bad.
That’s why it’s so confusing
Aranda made a wise career move by staying in Madison.
LMFAO! 3 guys looked like matadors on that TD. Ole motherfucker!
“This is Gary Andersen. You’re watching Pac-12 Networks. Where champions [and the Beavers] play.”
“Were champions, a couple of ok teams, and some cheerleaders and 2 good marching band, that goofy looking ball boy from Oregon, you know, the kid wit the gumby hairdo with the bleached out spot. And the OSU beavers play.”
HAHA
this guy?
http://pauleide.com/wp-content/uploads/2001/12/kid-from-kid-n-play-high-top-fade.jpg
Haskins! Nice run
Haskins.
Nice to see Beavs so excited about that TD when they’re down this much. Good sign
They unleashed the Wild Beaver!
Haskins provided a nice little spark
Storm with 2, at least he did something this game….
Vanderveen sighting on the two pt.
Angry, don’t you think there is something “off” in the GA/Storm Woods relationship? Or maybe it’s with Baldwin? The Beavs don’t have much talent, but when Woods is healthy I don’t see why he wouldn’t get 20 carries a game.
I’m not sure, but it’s way late in his career to care about it.
Really, no one can stop that shit. Fuck
I think the guy is hit or miss… Unfortunetly for him, he has not been the same since the Utah hit a couple years ago. Also, he lacks big play speed and we need someone back there who COULD break off a big run when the lanes are there.
There just seems to be something there that they won’t discuss. He’s better than Boldin taking a fly sweep and running out of bounds. He usually get’s positve yards.
I just think it is the lack of aggressiveness IMO. GA is used to RB’s who hit the hole, not tip toe. If Storm would run like he did in the CW last year, every play with toughness, I don’t think we would be having this conversation.
Storm still says all the right things and looks engaged on the sideline. I think T.Cannon has a point with the lack of aggressiveness thing.
I think Storm is a great person, and role model and IMO will end up being a good coach (maybe HS level?) I just don’t want my starting RB being scared of contact.
32 with the AWFUL line to the RB and completely whiffs. We are getting run over.
Swing and a miss indeed, oh well at least NM hasn’t turned the ball over.
Shit Talkie defense is not very good.
He just needs to learn how to hand jive
I said this on a previous thread.
Craig Robinson took over from the total shit Jay John or was it John Jay left and took them to a low tier championship. Good coaching. Tinkle took over a somewhat better group that Robinson left and went farther. Good coaching. Football is more complicated but GA is not showing his coaching talent. He seems to be working with what he hopes for instead of what he has.
larger field, more players. bad comparison
Nobody has ever said Craig was a good coach lol
Truth
Jack would blow him if he had the chance.
I said football was more complicated.
The team is not progressing. That is on GA.
52 freshman most low hanging fruit recruited by Riley and staff. What do you expect?
Rousey goes down.
Patrick Swayze nods in approval from the grave
https://embed.gyazo.com/c781b103de6673a0a52375043bbd8be6.gif
Oh damn. Keep your hands up.
meanwhile banker held rutgers to 14 points earlier today
NM threw straight into double coverage there.
Storm breaks 2 tackles and almost scores.
Storm is mad I called him a pussy… Good
WTF that was in Togei’s hands. Dropped TD.
Announcers, not a lot of places to put that ball.
Just in his hands.
No shit, what a nice throw. Togei’s hands suck.
Ok FUCK THAT GUY, going straight helmet to helmet with Mitchell. NM is on the sidelines now. What a scumbag. Or at least a really shitty player.
Ugly lame duck throw by McMaryion. Guy was wide open in corner and he throws an easy 2 point conversion so low the Cal guy beat soundly had a fairly easy time knocking it away.
Seumalo was wide open too.
I’m not sure Isaac was eligible on the play. I think he was a decoy.
Poor MM. Always asked to go in during tough spots…
News flash – we’re terrible, H2O is liquidty and the ucks suck!
Terrible weekend, Simple Jack and the ucks win and we get boatraced.
NOBODY is bringing the RB down on the first hit. Is that a strength issue, tackling issue, or both?
Effort issue.
Evan Simon better earn his check. We are weak big time. Cal’s RB carrying 3-4 defenders.
Who the fuck was that? Are we suiting up fans in the stands? Awesome.
OVGARD INT!!!
That is the first legitimately good play on the ball from someone in our secondary in so long.
And Ovgard follows that up with a stop on SpTms.
Glad we get to see the MMM project.
WTF was that throw, McM? A bubble screen 10 yards above his head, just floated to nowhere.
4th and 30? They just wanted Porebski in to pad his stats for the Ray Guy award. Nice job fellas
And our momentum comes to a grinding halt.
MMM has terrible body language.
Btw, that was “An attempt to take a shot at the deep throw.”
Football commentary is the worst.
Mitchell 1A, Collins 1B, McM 3D
None of these guys are QB1s.
Most freshman aren’t.
NM finished with 50% completions, 200ish yards, 3 total TDs and 0 turnovers. Again, he’s a freshman.
I don’t think MM thought he was getting in, that is his bad he should be ready, no excuses
I miss Collins, at least he made it interesting…
Yeah and what’s up with his injury? Have there been any specific updates? Is he rehabbing, done for the season. It seems odd, just like with Woods.
Must have torn something.
His vagina
I love how a back up QB who transferred from Utah State is going to be the best QB on our roster next year.
That’s scary. I lived in Utah for 15 years, so I follow the programs. He’s a decent back up, but I would be very surprised if he’s some kind of savior. People forget he was playing in the Mountain West also.
-2???? Ha, have fun being losers and being happy with the blowouts NM and Co. are producing. We were with Stanford with SC and both wins come with him. Grow some balls and explain why you thumbed down my post, unless you are too scared to admit you just don’t like a black QB….
unless you are too scared to admit you just don’t like a black QB….
Really?
Yes, really
If you say so dude.
Is this supposed to be a response to my comment below that we make fun of plenty of white people? Um yeah, way more than blacks or native americans.
Have you heard of Riley, Banker, Langsdork, or Cav? They were the biggest joke for almost a decade around here. Also throw in donut loving Schnell and Mamma Machado, etc. We mostly only make fun of whites, but you’re just a social justice warrior/asshole who only sees things through your prism. Keep looking for reasons to get offended about everything, dude, keep looking.
Cool story
Being Native American, I was subjected to many racist moments growing up and still do to this day. Maybe I am overly sensitive to it, but I have seen racist comments posted on this forum by contributors, and the way I see it, the SC haters just don’t like a cocky african american running the Beaver offense, similar to people who dislike Cam Newton because of his “personality”
Nah, you are seeing things selectively. We make fun of plenty of white guys and their personalities.
Hyperextended knee, I’ve done it can be problematic if you can’t get the swelling under control. My guess is he comes back next week or the week after
Where do the Beavs rank in total D? They probably have a shot of being last of all power 5 teams…at least I’d think so
There O was 120 I believe, after this game I wouldn’t be surprised if their D is around that number as well
Arizona, Cal, and Oregon are worse in yards per game. Oregon, Arizona, and Arizona State are worse in points per game. So not the worst defense in the Pac-12.
Overall OSU Defense is 93rd in Yards/Game and 94th is Points/Game.
That’s surprising.
“Arizona, Cal, and Oregon are worse in yards per game. Oregon, Arizona, and Arizona State are worse in points per game. So not the worst defense in the Pac-12.”
Wow, that’s saying something about the shitty state of D in the conference. Even with these spread and option offenses, that is pathetic. You’d think that having the time to practice against it consistently (UO), and face other teams in conference that you wouldn’t see such poor defense.
Fuck Najee the bad 80’s saxophone player and fuck Najee the kickoff returner!
Hey, Najee the sax player doesn’t fumble, run directly into your opponenets coverage and his rendition of For the Love of You is pretty good 80’s smooth jazz.
And yeah, eff the other guy. Another low star, no other offer diamond that Riley thought he could make All Pac. At least he got a scholly on The Drive.
I’m not sure this was the best season to be on The Drive. Our performance, facilities, equipment, etc. make the Utes Program look sooo much better (they are this year) than us. Hopefully Dr. Ray and Stansbury will see how embarrasing we look and continue to invest. VTV isn’t enough and frankly the remodel compared to Utah, Wazzu and the rest of the league is half assed. I wish I couod come up with an extra $40-50 mil. to do it right.
Nice pass.
Maybe MM just had some skittles
Utah loses.
Utah goes down.
No Pac in the playoffs this year
we now return you to your regularly scheduled SEC and Notre Dame cockslobfest
What kind of passive 4th down run is that?
agreed. stupid
uggggg come on, we need to be able to get 2 yards
McM had the chance to pick up 2 or 3 yards on 2nd down by scrambling. Don’t do it then, then pretty soon you don’t even get it on 4th down.
Not surprised Woods didn’t get the first… Why not Haskins or Lucas?
It was a shitty play call anyway.
Yup, pretty weak.
Utah was overrated anyway. Pac-12 is bad this year with Oregon having a down year. Stanford and USC are okay. I don’t think any of those teams deserve to be in the playoff (hate this playoff, btw. it will be expanded once everyone whines about the 5th team being left out)..
I am still bullish on the staff BUT this hasn’t been a great year coaching wise. I can’t believe they’re still playing Goff.
They are idiots playing Goff in this game, btw. Could end his career. Oh wait, Beavs can’t reach the QB now I understand it.
Down by 30.
The coach is making progress.
Has Cal only punted once tonight? They must be pushing 700 yards of offense.
710, is that the most we have ever allowed???
Maybe, there was that game against the Huskies 69-27 seemed like a ton of yards given up.
MM has thrown some nice deeper balls this year in his limited time. I’d like to see him get a full game. See what he can do when comfortable and time to get in rhythm. I’ve seen glimpses that he can pass. Looks like a better passer than Mitchell or Collins to me.
Yup
3 and out.
He wasnt able to beat out the other two, that says alot right there. They all have looked the same, in that they are inconsistent at best throwing the ball. Some good balls and alot of overthrows, poor throws, and misreads. I wonder about McGivens, or if its just the talent. Crowton hasn’t made a difference.
I said at the beginning of the season we would see all three play and maybe all three start. It still may happen, but I don’t need to see MMM start to know what he is.
It says nothing because this staff seems really bad with QBs. At one point MM beat out Mitchell, then Mitchell beat out both MM and Collins…lol
GA has a history of this in Wisconsin, too. Apparently he just isn’t good with QBs.
But MM did look like crap on that drive. All I was saying is he has throw enough nice deep balls this year to be intriguing. There’s nothing else intriguing about the season, so let’s see him play a game and know for sure.
He’s the CEO so at one point or another he’s gotta be more “QB focused” but that’s why I thought he brought in a veteran OC and an OC/QB COTY, right? It’s on all of them though that they’re not in play – at least it seems that way – with a high star HS QB and or a JC guy… There’sx no way they think that Moran will come in and be the answer. NM, MM or Chicken Head could be a lot better next year and still not be Pac 12 starter level. Don’t get me started on the D. Broken record but #17, #12 and #14 shouldn’t be on the field.
Any thoughts on our walk-on safety Ovgard? He wasn’t perfect but at least it seemed like he had a pulse. I’d rather have guys that look like they care, get the meaning of the Civil War and sell out to make plays. But at the end of the day talent trumps…
BTW, I’ve seen video of Brennen consistently telling his receivers to catch with their hands yet VB always catches against his body. Three years of coaching and he catches (or attempts) like my 4th grade girlfriend. WTF?
Lastly, doesn’t matter since he’s not the answer but NM’s “wind up” release makes Mannion’s release look like Aaron Rodgers.
Ha! McMaryion finished 1 of 8 in passing. Nick Mitchell > McMaryion but all three QBs are terrible.
Today but NM was awful last week
don’t you have some duck nut sack to put in your mouth?
And again, MM comes in down multiple scores with the game out of reach and we are throwing every play. I still would like to see him get a full week prepping as the starter… What do we have to lose?
And Holly Holm pulls off the upset I hear. No upset for beavs though, so sad
MM was garbage on that drive.
He looked like he didn’t really want to run the ball on the keeper and his two passes were shit. Where in the fuck do all of the other college programs get these damn freshmen who come off the bench and light it up???
Yeah that’s why I don’t understand the freshman excuse. There are freshman playing well all over the place.
To me a sign of a talent problem is not being competitive. So that’s what I think this is.
It looks like lack of talent to me too. Riley did a pretty nice job of hiding it. I truly did not think the Beavs were going to fall into the realm of being mostly non-competitive. That’s a little scary to me. You look at programs like Kansas or Wake Forest who had some success in the recent past, lost it and just can’t get it back. I hope OSU does not fall into the category.
I don’t think that will happen. Wake Forest is an academic school and basketball school caught in a bad location (i.e. semi SEC territory) and Kansas is the worst State in the Union, and another basketball school. OSU has a good location working for it, and the coach is a proven program builder and winner. I’d say better location and coaches than those two programs. I think OSU will be fine, but I did think good coaching could overcome some of the talent issues. Now I realize it can’t. Almost everyone objective (mainstream media) had this as a 2 win team, and for once they were right. I think I read there are 52 freshman on the roster? If so, that is insane. That falls on Riley squarely. He apparently didn’t know how to build a roster or stagger scholies after 30 years in the business.
Did you hear that even Mama M blamed Riley for not demonstrating ability to “build a roster or stagger scholies” She said it on that dam podcast thing.
To be more specific, she said the situation of having 52(?) freshmen on the squad was “on Riley”.
Checkmate
You mean hiding the lack of talent from the media, right? I don’t think anyone in the mainstream media or here noticed what a young and imbalanced roster he was leaving the program. I think one of the reasons he left was he knew he couldn’t win with this roster.
I believe the 52 freshman is when you count freshmen and redshirt freshman. So that is 26 in each class. So that is really only a little heavy. At 20 per class for five classes you get 100 players. Considering some attrition in upperclassmen, 26 is only slightly heavy.
Why are we punting? Who cares at this point
MM just doesn’t seem tomhave alpha male leadership qualities. Bad body language.
Jarmon open and he can’t deliver that pass. We don’t have a single D1 starter on the roster – not counting DG.
Decoud is not that good and Kendall Hill wouldn’t be starting at Portland State.
Oh, the ucks will amass about 650-700 yards of offense on us.
WIth OSU’s three-and-outs, and Nick getting some decent punts so the Ducks don’t always have the short field, they could go for over 800 yards.
Andersen has a defensive background: how can OSU possibly tackle so poorly? It is stunning.
Really good point. I think that the staff is pretty balanced but you’d think we’d be stronger on D. Constantly whiffing and being out of position isn’t just a talent issue. The football IQ of the guys we have playing at the moment has got to be pretty low. Hill back peddling as the RB came right at him made me sick. He wasn’t even being blocked. And he whiffs as the dude runs by him. Reaction? Looking towards the night sky and clapping his hands like “shoot, better luck next time…” I’m perplexed when GA tees up Noland Lewis and Hill during his pressers when we constantly see them whiff or miss an assignment. These guys should’ve learned basic tackling in CYO/Pop Warner and it’s not like they’re freshmen…
WTF happened to our LBs? I didn’t hear Rommel’s name called once tonight. Was he playing?
Run Forrest, run. Ha! Beat you degenerates to it!
Pretty good showing
Vintage. I bet Riley is home chewing gum and laughing at that one.
Ya probably
Gave up 760 fucking yards. Over 400 passing and 300 rushing.
or, .43 miles.
Given the state of today’s defenses, maybe they can just start reporting it in tenths-of-a-mile….two significant digits….
Checkmate.
Lucas shows promise. Oregon’s DAT was about the same size, and he carried the ball. Lucas ought to be able to spend some time at RB and WR next year and in ensuing years.
Of course we must remember Cal’s D gave up 777 yards to UO, and Cal hadn’t won in a month. Its not like they’re a great team.
Man we need a lot of help. Only positive I took away is Paul Lucas seems to be a good talent. I wonder why the staff hasn’t let him carry the rock prior to this game. I actually think he could be a good tandem back with Nall for the next few years, and it could give teams trouble because both those guys can spread out wide and run routes as well. The only problem with that is we need a qb, if the staff can’t solve this problem in the off season next year will be just as bad on offense.
Defensively I didn’t see any positives to take away. We are such a soft team. Peko had a few good plays, and he does seem to get in the backfield a lot. Since we’re thinking future here, I really think we need a couple JC d lineman, and at least one linebacker. That and cross our fingers Irvine and Wallace can make a impact next season.
If I was in the staff I would be going full force at JC recruiting. Qb, d line, and a linebacker would help us out tremendously. Willis seemed to look pretty good at Utah, but this week, I saw him getting ran over constantly. All in all, my positive vibes are slowly dwindling. I thought we’d be better, at least competitively. This season dampers so much expectations for next year as well.
I hope they can hold on to the highly ranked DB recruits…Noland-Lewis looked terrible to me; out of position, beaten badly, victimized…
Holding together the recruiting class should be priority #1 at this point.
Question: if they somehow beat the Ducks, does that change everyones’ feeling about this season? That is, does it become a success if they win the CW and land a top 35 recruiting class?
A 3-4 win season would probably be within the range of reasonable expectations given the regime change, scheme changes, and youth, but winning the CW would represent a significant success in my estimation; at Autzen, breaking a 7-year losing streak to boot…..
It would represent program improvement, because Riley would have done neither (CW win and recruiting results). Also, Riley/Banker probably would have lost to SJSU.
Depends somewhat on how they beat the Ducks, a solid effort (few penalties, smart playcalling, consistent and clean fundamentals) against a full strength Ducks squad which doesn’t make a lot of errors would make the season a success only when combined with a top 35 recruiting class. Oh yeah, throw in word that Isaac is coming back.
Maybe success is the wrong term, but it would give good reason for optimism going forward.
No.
YES. Been too damned long since we beat those guys.
It would make the season in my estimation.
Noland Lewis is a redshirt Jr, right? That’s depressing… They should let him return kick-offs, they say he’s fast and misses tackles so maybe he can make the opposing team miss.
#17 to offense and Barrs-Woods to D! That’s the ticket!!!
I didn’t have high hopes for the O this season, defense is by far the biggest disappointment for me. Strong has regressed (when not out with injury), Mageo has not lived up to early promise, Grimble has been limited, and, in general the fundamentals are still lacking. I honestly did believe the D would keep the Beavs in at least 10 of 12 games………..live n learn.
No surprise GA says pass rushing DE’s are one of the top priorities for recruiting. It is, however, surprising that he never seems to mention the need at QB….is he putting all eggs in the Moran/Garretson basket?
I don’t understand why he isn’t going harder after another QB, either. Even if he likes Garretson, then Collins is the backup (bad) and Mitchell/MM/Moran after that. So 1 deep, really, and that’s just because we’re assuming Garretson can play because he’s older and knows the system. That might be wrong, and then what? Need to bring in much much more QB talent, imo. Riley always had a QB. He even made Armstrong decent at NE. It was the one thing Riley was good at. Makes me wonder if one of the QBs who transfered might have been better than all these guys. When it comes to analyzing QBs, Riley > GA. No doubt. Riley is worse at everything else I’ve seen so far.
Don’t forget Riley never had a solid succession plan; we always heard good QB play only came every few years because it took so long to learn Riley’s Pro system.
God, a Luke Del Rio/Pensyl interception fest would have been less watchable than what is on the field now…
Began to wonder the same about the qb’s who left. Did del Rio wear concrete shoes? Figure an upperclassmen with ability to read, accurate arm and no legs would have put up more offense than these guys this year.
Why would anyone -1? I despise Opie the coach but Angry’s onto something here… I really hope McG is a lot better than his QBs are showing.
NM can’t complete simple throws, his release takes about 2.5 seconds and I haven’t seen him complete a pass to the leftside of the field. You’d think after 10 months he’d be a little better…
OSU has three eligible QB’s on the roster. A true freshman and two redshirt freshman. All three who quite possibly may not posses the tools be D1 caliber quarterbacks. You can put lipstick on a pig. But in the end, it’s still a pig. Angry also stated spread offenses rely on good QB play. And OSU does not have one right now capable of doing that. Fact. Add in 50 other freshman and some candy assed Riley hold overs who absolutely cannot or just simply refuse to put out effort and you have the dumpster fire we are seeing now. What I’m seeing is youth, lack of talent at some skill positions and a few quitters on the field. Hot garbage. This is a coaching staff not accustomed to losing like this. The players however are. Let them recruit and flush the Riley mindset out of the program. Sucks now but patience is a virtue. Learn some.
maybe because as GA previously stated they’re recruiting for more offense/defense balance? Too many offensive guys not enough D guys ring a bell? Think big picture. Coaching staff is probably doing that for a reason
Del Rio is far better than what we have.
Who transfers out of this mess ,,,,Isaac , harlow , smith ,owens ,,,,,
Who transfers out of this mess ,,,,Isaac , harlow , smith ,owens ,,,,, they have value
All those players will stay. They’re all seniors next year. Not worth it.
I wouldnt be surprised to see a couple of them grad transfer like Mullaney. Was worth it for him
…they have value
Ok, I was wrong about the tornado…..
the Aids epidemic is still a possibility. Give it time
Is it safe to presume there was no miracle comeback after I went to bed?
You actually made it from the couch to bed? You didn’t fall asleep watching the game?
I’m thinking this team is pretty close to early-mid 80’s bad. What we’re seeing isn’t just a team with depth issues since the starters are lousy too. Opie effed us big time but GA and staff have got to show us some evidence that they’re coaching these kids up. The staff budget was increased by what, $2.5-3.0 mil per annum minimum, right? We are in for a much longer rebuild – 3-4 years before it gets better imo.
Missed tackles, bad pass coverage, bad passes, dropped passes…he can coach them up all he wants. At some point the players have to make the plays.
Honestly, you think that it’s just the players? I get it it – we’re young, hurt, new scheme and so on but you think this staff has performed at a really high level? Hey, I’m still bullish with this staff but when was the last time there was this much of a drop off? Even the 3 win Opie teams were better than the continuous shit shows we’re seeing every Saturday. It ain’t just the talent – there’s something really wrong with this bunch and the coaches haven’t been able to figure it out.
I can agree with what you’re saying. But I also feel like I’m not yelling at the tv when we have 3 timeouts and 2 minutes before halftime, and we’re kneeling the ball. Having talent and getting out coached sucked.
That being said, I think GA has lost some of the upperclassmen and they can be causing more bad than good to the younger players.
I agree with you wholeheartedly on clock management. Opie would have taken a knee before the half so no Villy TD but we also harped for a long time about leveraging whatever talent we had instead of forcing a system. I thought we’d run Lucas and Haskins until the Cal D stopped them but no. The Nall deal at Utah. Handing off to Bolden if it’s not a jet sweep is guaranteed to lose yards. Candidly I’m not seeing a lot of innovative plays so I trust that they’re dumbing it down but man…
The upperclassmen may be poisoning the well but they’re most likely not playing since I’m assuming GA won’t put up with that crap. I’m grasping at straws I guess… I predicted 4 wins this year but I didn’t think we’d get to this point. Been outscored 95-24 over the past week. That’s Joe Av bad.
I think GA is treating the players much different than Riley. He probably screams and yells in his motivation tactics. Inside source tells me there are “lots of holes in the walls” from GA punching them or coaching staff in the offices around the VRC. Seems interesting if you ask me. I don’t think these players are used to the hard nosed culture GA brings. These are just assumptions of course… I was talking to my cousin and I told him GA is the polar opposite of Riley. The extreme change is probably only good for a handful of players. This group probably needed a coach somewhere in the middle. Sitake seems so quiet on the sidelines and GA reminded me of Riley standing by himself and very quiet. Probably planning his exit plan. Lucas, Nall and Collins(as a WR) will be great in the spread next year. We just don’t have the athletes to run that offense this year.
Perhaps he is trying to save money on demo costs for the new digs? Smart.
Hahahahahahshshshshshshshahahahahahaha
“Lucas, Nall and Collins(as a WR) will be great in the spread next year. We just don’t have the athletes to run that offense this year.”
Reflecting back on Riley’s alleged, and self-proclaimed plan to update his offense: vary the tempo, have a mobile QB, incorporate some read option, and looking at the roster he built: Vanderveen (HS running QB, poor thrower), McM (mobile HS qb, not D1, easy to sign), Mitchell (long slow release, ok mobility for moving the chains, not DI, easy to sign), Del Rio transfer (pro style, live, but inaccurate arm), Penysl recruitment (pro style QB, no mobility) it all reflects Riley’s lack of commitment to any true plan or – gasp! – offensive identity.
It was like he was kinda sorta going to maybe try to update his offense and take advantage of the fact that defenses have to account for a dual threat QB, but he just wasn’t really sold on it. He ended up with a menagerie of non-solutions and bailed before he had to do something with it and tarnish his .48366 career winning percentage at OSU…..
Correct, Nall is hurt, Collins is hurt, we have no true D1 QB until Garreston starts and Lucas is Just being introduced to us with 3 games left. Hopefully some more athletic OL to hold on the edges like the ducks. I’m not a fan of the spread, but damn they look like shit trying to run it. So flashes of brilliance with Lucas.
I agree on Riley’s plan, wait what plan!? Haha.
I think GA’s just getting a head start on tearing down Valley. Interesting it that’s true.
GA’s sideline demeanor has never bothered me and he’s called out guys on the field. He certainly looks engaged, At least he isn’t joking around with Sitake like Opie used to do with Banker while getting their asses handed to them. With that said I was hoping that we’d see better fundamentals with what we thought at the beginning of the season as an all star staff. If we won 4 games and saw progression then I’d be a hog in slop but I can’t even describe what we’re seeing right now. We are one of the worst D1 teams in the country.
Who let them DAWGS OUT?
Whooo let da dawgs out?
Todd Grahm did. Then he shoved a fork up their ass. Call the SPCA.
That’s fine by me buddy. Wait who shoved a fork up your ass!!??? Haha go talk to your coach I’m sure he’s punched a lot more holes in the walls around there. Because there’s no better way to coach a football team then ramming your fist through drywall over and over again.Hahahaha
Good luck on the next 30 year no bowl streak!
You like forks up your ass? Well….ok then. Tell me which is better, punching holes in walls, or protecting rapists who transfer out of your program, like your coach did?
I’ll go with whatever option means I don’t have to live in Corvallis… Are you serious?
Ok, I guess you get what you deserve then. we’ll see how you feel after Jake and coach Pete Ram their foot up your ass!
BTW, how do you get an OSu cheerleader into your room? Grease those fat hips and puuuuuuuush!!!! LOL #Dawgdayz
Looks like I struck a nerve.
Corvallis is dope, where do you live?
Corvallis is a shit hole. I live on the lake bitch!
Never been there. Is that near Lake Erie?
So you live on a run down sail boat…cool.
“Corvallis is a shit hole. I live on the lake bitch!”
Ha ha. Sure you do.
I’m curious, in terms of municipal anatomy, which arm pit of Seattle is the U district? Do you have any favorite trash apathetically begging at any particular ATM thereabouts?
The DawgFather was a long time ago, and Slick Rick seems like, well, out of coaching. They both cheated somehow didn’t they?
But given how poorly UW had done against the Beavs the last decade, its a little early to be crowing.
Apparently your mother cheered for OSU back in her day. Better put her iPad back before your father pushes her out of the room…
Your moms basement is on the lake?
Lol.
In Seattle, we are surrounded by excellence at all times. Corvallis doesn’t even have an airport! Which directly means that unless you like sheep or a good grass seed pasture, there’s absolutely no reason to go there. Ever.
I remember driving to a game there a few years ago… One of the only places in the world that makes Pullman look nice!
Since you live in seattle, are you excited that you’re getting paid $15 an hour to mop bathrooms at Mcdonalds? I mean at least you’re getting free wifi..right?
Plus they serve Starbucks at the homeless shelter he hangs at.
Seattle is the biggest piece of shit City on the west coast, seems to fit. I’d kill myself faster than Cobain if I lived in a boring, overrated City like SEA. At least you have a mall!
C’mon guys, Seattle is not a sh*thole. Traffic’s bad but it’s one of the most beautiful large cities in the world with the sound and Cascades. Let’s keep the angst focused on Spewgene.
what team do you think he roots for? Same douche that posted as Colorado, Utah, UCLA, etc
I’ve been to Seattle one time. It’s a shit hole and I won’t go back. I think I saw you. There was this bum underneath an overpass taking a piss right next to the freeway.
Y’know, as someone who’s stuck out in the South, Corvallis is a pretty nice fucking place. There’s plenty of nature and parks out there, plenty of peace and quiet. Should I want to live in a big, pollution-ridden shithole, metropolis area? No, fuck that! You and your stupid-ass big city is killing this planet. Fuck you.
Cooks has two TD’s today.
He’s the man
He is no Victor Bolden.
Bolden is da man! Haha
Again, you beat me to it! Cookie catches with his hands. VB with his stomach.
Gwachum gets a sack for the Saints.
Saw that.
i really REALLY hope GA can keep this recruiting class intact. The talent is just not there. Need to get his guys in ASAP.
On a side note, I still think Baldwin is calling too many pass plays. I do notice sometimes we get a 5-7 yard run and then we get an incomplete pass on 2nd down. This forces us to throw again on 3rd. And another 3 and out. He KNOWS our QBs are garbage at throwing but keeps trying to throw. I get it, he’s trying to mix it up. But he’s not playing to the strengths of his team.
I keep seeing lots and lots of dropped passes, and poor attempts to be in position to catch the ball. The lone remaining Riley assistant coach is coaching the receivers? No wonder why they miss the big picture- catch the freaking ball. He probably just has them mailing it in instead of working on their ball catching muscle memory. At this point, I think all our receivers look like great DB candidates.
I don’t put much stock in this list but GA just cracked #30 on the Coaches Hot Seat List. It’s good that list didn’t exist back in my day. I was able to exist under the radar for six glorious seasons. It took me two full years to win two games so, in my eyes, GA is way ahead of the curve. JB
Fwiw. I got a message from a wbb commit who said Ionescu was on her official this weekend, and she thinks we have a good shot at getting her at OSU. Said she really liked it.
That would be huge for the program
That’s good news. I thought she’d already taken her official. Her not signing early and making the trip up is huge.
I though she had officialed too, so not sure if one of these was unofficial or maybe the first one didnt happen?
I didn’t think she was taking an official to OSU… If she was there then I guess we have a shot. Thought it was between Cal and the ucks. Hope we can get her.
Has anyone heard any recruiting news of GA & staff going after any other QB prospects this time around? I’m still not sold on Moran… I know GA is smarter than to believe Moran/Garretson have the tools to take the team to the next level, but it still makes me wonder.
Connor Neville from Wilsonville a 2017 recruit is one that I know.
Not sure why you don’t like Moran, but I think he will be much better than anybody we have now, if he learn for one year while Garretson plays next season even better. It would not surprise me to see him as a two or three year starter.
I just hope he is better than Moran from Blue Mountain State….
I liked that show. It was funny.
I am just not impressed with Moran’s film so far… Your reasoning is exactly what should be attracting a higher level recruit, a chance to either start right away for a Power 5 school or (worst-case scenario) get mentored by DG for one year and then start as a RS Frosh.
I do understand that Moran, DG and some other OSU targets are from the same school, so that might be part of it. It just feels like GA could do better. I hope I’m wrong!
Regardless of his film, which I don’t think it is bad.
Check out his stats:
http://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/mason-moran/BSDqIvTuEeKZ5AAmVebBJg/gendersport/football-stats.htm
His QB rating is 111, he accounts for 31 TD’s. He ran for almost 1,000 yards. At what point do you start believing the stats over the film? I believe his team is in the state semi-finals. The kid is a winner. Was a captain as a Junior when he was the backup to a kid that signed with ASU. I think we could do alot worse.
Stats can be deceptive in high school. There are plenty of prolific HS QB’s who can’t even hack it at the FCS level.
We have three of them!
Depends. He’s surrounded by 4 and 5 star talent. His #1 WR is probably the best WR prospect int he West and a 5-star. Lucas is a 4-star. There’s a ton of other talent around him.
His mechanics are weird, and in the game on tv when those players around him were injured, he looked bad.
Running for 1,000 yards is impressive, but OSU needs someone who can pass, make decisions, run — in that order.
Not a QB guru but the fact that NM hasn’t been coached to improve/change his release is alarming. His HS film shows exactly the same takes forever wind up. Moran, although he looks like an overall better athlete, also has a weird release/motion. McG and Co. must feel it’s not an issue but…
His motion is a little funky, but its like cocked and loaded, and he keeps the ball up high and fires it with his arm. So, his arm strength probably isn’t the best, but he has quick accurate passes. Unlike Mitchell whose delivery is low and long, his is high and quick, but its also short so he won’t throw very far.
He is very good runner, quick and fast. In addition, his size is good. He probably will grow into his 6’3″ frame and looks like he could easily add 30 lbs.
Talked to someone who knows a little about the qb situation. Said there are 2 qb’s they like for 2016. My guess is that means Moran and Struck (that’s just me filling in the blanks though)
Also sounds like theyre high on Garretson. Again, my guess is Garretson starts next year.
Nothing official so take that all as just rumor/speculation. Doesnt sound like there are any other prospects in the works you havent already heard of
Who is Struck?
Local QB from Medford area. Has camped here and visited too. Again, just a guess on my part that he is #2 for 2016
http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1915666/matt-struck
This link has his senior film
http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1915666/highlights
Does he have offers yet? I didn’t see anything on his twitter.
Wonder how he’d handle serious pressure. Looked a bit slow on one rush, OK on others; seems to hit receivers in stride…..but it is hightlights!
Thanks BeavBlaze. I like Struck, love taking fliers on local kids. Struck reminds me a little bit of Zabransky. Would love to see him develop behind DG for a few years, then see what he’s got.
2018 4* QB, but that is aways out
Do we finally see Vanderveen at QB this week ?
Doubt it. He was in on the two point conversion at TE; I was surprised to even see him at all given his injury status. He’d probably be physically able to go at QB vs dawgs but I don’t think it will happen.
When asked about a backup QB here is GA’s response as reported by Gina: “Hopefully Nick will be back,”
OBT. Peyton Manning is done, that’s too bad I always liked watching him play (when he wasn’t a broken old man (for nfl)). He got the passing record at least.
Is Gary Andersen and staff heavily recruiting QB’s? Or only going after Mason Moran? What do fans think….. Do you think Andersen and staff fully comprehend the significance and importance of winning the Civil War? From looking around this state, if you aren’t an OSU student, alum or fan, you wouldn’t even know OSU existed! OSU gets no respect or recognition from local media. Hell, even the Gazette Times reports more about hole, than they do the Beavers! In the stores, there is such a poor selection and representation of OSU merchandise, the list goes on and on. But, win the Civil War and problem solved, it’s that important.
Dude!! ….win the Civil War….. LMAO!!!
….maybe in a few years.
But right now, we dont deserve much media coverage….
I couldn’t agree more… that’s all there is to it!!! I beat the Ducks twice in my six years. It totally leveled the field and put me on easy street. JB
PS: Keeping this years team a secret is not bad coverage.
Not this year, but wait for it….. (It’s the same DAM thing Beaver fans say every year for seven consecutive years) “Wait until next year” But, how many years must we continue with this insanity?
So, I say why not this year? Either the dreaded streak is going to end, or it never will! Yes, I know this year the odds are a million to one. It has to start somewhere. It has to start sometime.
What better place than here, what better time than now?
http://youtu.be/RZul_mSFczs
so this team is down to one QB or so the D get tired and the offence can score enough
so this team is down to one QB or so the D gets tired after 1.5 qrts and the offence can’t score enough unless GA has some or plan just for the Ducks I think it is highly unlikely they will win this year. But hope is endless go here is to a civil war victory I’ll be with you
“So, I say why not this year?”
Because we suck hard this year. Duh.
I still put on my old beavers stuff you have a problem with it….No I kid but I can see what you mean but this team is not there yet I’d think they’ll have it figured out in 2 or so years
I’d feel a lot better IF there was a top notch JC QB (3 to play 3 or 3 to play 2) who fit the mold of what the staff is looking for and was willing to attend a school that didn’t have an airport.
I’d feel even better if there was news about the staff talking to JC linemen, both OL and DL.
But then it’s getting late and it’s been a long day so I’m probably asking too much when it comes to my feeling better.
There are JC O and D linemen that have been offered.
I miss Seth Collins.
somebody hold me
I miss Joe Avezzano.

Yes, very interesting, thanks for the link. Short practices? Lack of emphasis on strength conditioning? Is that happening at OSU?
Some of the complaints are nonsense. The reason the Badgers have not gone into the tank this year is because of GA’s hire at DC, Dave Aranda. He is a great coach and will get a HC gig in the near future. Chryst is an excellent offensive coach and has adapted to his players strengths this year.
Badgers have a hard time running the ball this year. Injuries have played a part, but several of my Badger friends tell me the O-line depth problems go back to Coach Pig Boy’s last two years before he skipped out to Arkansas. The walk on thing may be legit, but the S/C issue is bull. They are not as strong on the O-line because they are playing young guys instead of 4th or 5 th years guys. It sure has not hurt their D which is much more athletic.
Thanks for the link. Hard to take seriously, as it is just full of conjecture. There is no way to validate most of his criticisms.
For example, two criticisms were Andersen did not recruit the O line and state of Wisconsin hard enough. Here are the commitment percentages of O linemen and Wisconsin players as a percentage of the total class for Andersen’s last 2 years, and this year:
O line: 19% (2014 class), 16% (2015), 14% (2016, so far)
Wisconsin players: 23% (2014), 26% (2015), 19% (2016)
So, Andersen seemed to focus at least as hard on these tenets of Wisconsin football as the current staff. How many of this columnist’s other arguments are equally non-factual?
How ’bout some tough talk?
Who has GA singled out as being tough, regardless of whether or not they are eligible next year, add to the list if you’ve seen quotes from the staff:
Peko
J.Mitchell
Ortiz
Clarkson
Ovgard
Lucas
Togiai
Mr. War-daddy Nall
Victor Bolden is mentally tough. Imagine dropping all those passes and still having the balls to show up for practice!
He must practice well? This is the second staff that seems enamored with him. The results don’t show on the field. He looks like a nervous RFR out there….
Even though GA hasn’t singled him out I’m submitting Nick Mitchell’s name. I’m doing so because several players have mentioned how he goes about his business unfazed and imo that’s an indication of toughness.
As an example, here’s a quote from a story in the Trib:
“We started to get on a roll,” said sophomore receiver Jordan Villamin, who caught seven passes for 83 yards and a touchdown. “Things started working. Wish we could have had more points and less penalties.
“But Nick did really well. Didn’t seem like he was fazed by anything.”

Mageo
GA has mentioned Jonathan Willis as someone coming on like gangbusters.
Looks like the Ionescu info was correct. Was a rescheduled visit and Beavs are in her new top 3 along with the previous teams.

I was surprised when I heard she was coming for a visit this late in the early signing period. I’ve had her as a Cal lean this entire time, but she seems to love our state. I still think she ends up at Cal, but maybe Tudor can work some magic.
It says a lot about the staff and players that she held off on signing in order to take this trip. Let’s pull an upset or two of UT & ND to seal the deal.
No one told her you can’t recruit to Corvallis?
Interesting that she has teammates on both oregon and oregon state teams. Which one is a better friend? Let’s hope it’s Kat
We have to sign her, her first name is Sabrina and she is from Walnut Creek, one of my former residences. Tell Reuck it is OK to name drop me. That should seal the deal.
Cal’s not a bad look for her. I’d love for her to come to OSU because she’d be our first McDonald’s All American, Pivec notwithstanding and we’d be a Final Four type team. Just anyone but hole, honestly.
For those looking for an OSU-themed alternative to Nike tees or other, here’s a source:
“Description – Oregon State rose to respectability under football coach Mike Riley. But now, it’s a new era for the Beavers. Coach Gary Andersen has a tough-guy reputation and his no-nonsense teams won’t be pushed around. It’s “No More Mr. Nice Guy,” in Corvallis.”

No more Mr. nice guy… I think I just found Christmas gifts for the whole family.
What happened to dignified leaders? This guy is so weak. (a) “you want to criticize me, let’s see you do it better!” aka 2nd grade argument and (b) appeal to authority fallacy saying his staff knows more than critics.
https://twitter.com/ABCPolitics/status/666281118673469440
Gary Andersen for President.
I can see his point, to a certain extent. It is easy to just criticize. It is much harder to present a realistic solution, particularly since then you then open your ideas to criticism, as well.
It’s really bad leadership, buddy. No way a leader/president should be out there addressing criticism with childish remarks and fallacies. It shouldn’t even be addressed. He should just do his job and never mention it. The guy is just weak.
IMHO he should be fired!
He calls what happened in Paris a ‘setback’…it was a slap in the face to his ‘contained’ comment earlier.
For fuck sake, can we please keep the politics off this site?
I respect your opinion on the Beavs and sports, but the last thing I want to read here is what you or anyone else here has to say about national politics. There is so much of that crap everywhere I look and I’m just sick of it invading blogs and forums that simply need to leave the subject alone.
Leadership and fallacies do relate to sports.
Politics off this site? Hahahahahaha. But honestly, we all know climate change is the top threat to our country.

Amen my man. Angry wants people to stay on topic unless he has something off topic that he wants to say. But that’s none of my business…
No I don’t care if you go off topic. The only time it bugs me is when there’s a new thread up for an event and people load it up with junk before the event begins. But I just started posting the threads closer to game time to avoid that.
What’s interesting is that’s the reply I get nearly every time when I question the common response to terrorism, which is that we need to kill more people. They respond with, ‘well, what else should we do?”. It’s as if the know killing people doesn’t solve anything, but they feel it must be done. I suppose it satisfies the human need for vengeance in these situations.
Our response to terrorism should be to give them love, a union job, and their 99 virgins up front. Feel better now sweets?
Wow!
You don’t prove his point with wild success.
Serious forum deserves serious comment.
People who view the world as black and white typically give that kind of response. “well, if you’re not going to kill them, you must be proposing to coddle them”.
They want to kill anybody who will not convert to their form of islam. There is no negotiating with them. ISIS likes to saw people’s heads off, just to mix it up now and then. How else do you deal with killers like that?
I’m not an expert on terrorism, so I read what experts have to say. Getting at the financing, breaking down networks, and police action domestically helps. Killing individual terrorists on the ground rather than bombing from above, which results in creating a sense of terror for innocent people, is more effective as the bombing essentially creates more potential terrorist recruits.
The cia and fbi have been doing a good job of shutting things down, if you believe they have done, what they claim they’ve done. And I mean chasing the cash flows and networks. But that brings up more questions, people claim the house of Saud is behind a lot of the financing. If that’s true, the government should answer for the cover ups. And that goes back to Carter’s era, and every president since. The world will never be short on terrorist shit heads, weather we take them out one at a time or nuke the whole area.
Where do you get Carter era? Ibn had been dead for a generation by that time. Remember to always think of those magical years, 1952-53, when thinking of US involvement in the Middle East and SW Asia.
In the case of SA, if you want to talk about the 70s, you need to start with the oil embargo and the back-channels that ended it (for the sake of killing Commies… and Cambodians).
What arbitrary point in Carter’s admin are you trying to start this relationship?
Carter human right initiatives (calling out the Shah on human right violations then mums the word with Saud). After the fall of the Shah, and russian afghan war started, Carter releases the Carter doctrine. ( Reagan extended it) it was to 1. Protect our intrests (Saud’s oil) 2. Keep Russia honest in the region. Which is fine, but it was partially pushed by Saud to cover for the Ayatollah Khomeinis rhetoric of overthrowing the muslim monarchies. And I think he’s a poopie head. And you are right it started way earlier than Carter. But I was really referring to the rise of modern terrorism and how it seems Saud is behind a lot of it, mostly financial.
Your timelines and motives are a little off. And now that hoops is over, I will go to sleep.
LBSU looks like a fun team this year, btw. I like Prince, Hammonds, Faust and Blackwell. They just don’t have any bigs to speak of.
Stop coddling them. Kick the House of Saud to the curb.
Where do they saw people’s heads off in stadiums full of citizens for the most inane of “laws” given by their deity? Where do they do all that Daesh does except in a sanctioned event with several undercards? Who (literally) holds their hands even though they do this? What was the overwhelming nationality of the 9/11 terrorists and their leadership? How are they funded?
So… let’s ignore all that and bomb Iraq. That always works.
Saud’s are bush league compared to ISIS, in the killing dept. Burning dudes, slow drowning, Detcord executions and dull knife head sawings beat sharp sword chops and stonings.
No. The Saudis don’t put it on social media. I believe that’s because they black it out within 50 miles of the stadium holding that day’s festivities.
Seriously, though, because it’s a state sponsored thing (at two to three times the net rate Daesh does it… not counting honor killings) they can relieve their bloodlust with human trafficking and public torture instead. So that keeps the numbers down in a per capita sense.
But just stop giving them money and arms, and they will stop forwarding all of it to al Qaeda and Daesh, who give it all back to us with the best of intentions. And then stop doing the same for Kuwait and Qatar.
Agreed

The “minus bandit” is after you also? Geting negged for a post about your computer, geez.
Does it matter? I refuse to take part in the “like” culture. That means I don’t care about pluses or minuses. Nor have I ever hit those buttons. If I like or dislike something, I have the will and voice to say so… or not. I refuse to give my freedom up to that littlest of masters.
I’m thinking chat room for women’s hoops tonight?
7pm vs Portland. I haven’t seen them play yet this year but plan to check that out.
Go lady beavs!
Collins ruled out for this weekend again, chalk it up as another Beaver loss
Sounds like he’s out for season. GA said he will be back in January…?
For the bowl game!
Hey Beavgopher, your gravatar is confusing me. I was like “I didn’t write that, but I wish I did”.
And why are you purple — are you some kind of racist?
Purple by accident…..Viking’s color. Yuk! They are in first place…..oh the horror.
What an awful weekend of football. And yes I am a racist. Anti- BadgerDuckVikingist.
Did I violate your safe zone?
Hey Angry, if you want to talk just email me, don’t be passive aggressive. Never mentioned you specifically, nor did I ever think it was you, as like me, you were pulling for MM. I don’t know who thumbed down my posts and was talking generally to some of the people who come on here and post racist/sexist material that YOU allow on your website. Don’t take your day out on me, just because you don’t agree with what I have to say. This is an open forum right? Land of the free indeed… Haha
I’m pulling for any player or coach who is good. Don’t care at all about the rest (skin, etc).
And yes, I try my best to make this land of the free. Free = none safe zone. If you want safe zones go somewhere else?
I know you do, I guess that is why I was surprised that you got so “Angry” haha. I do like to come to this website because you do run a good ship and have very good points IMO. LOVE YOU!
Land of the free means you are free to receive criticism and opinions of others when you put something out there. It doesn’t mean your opinion deserves immediate and unparalleled respect and a nice little cuddle bubble protecting it from people who never got that memo.
And… it technically only applies to governmental censorship. So beyond people being cynical, it also doesn’t apply to private entities who aren’t supported by the public trust.
Good points
Exactly right, Jack.
As a private site, I don’t have to do anything, but I think it sets a good example/contradiction for the trend of more censorship and “safe zones”.
I actually find the most frustrating part of online discussion the fallacies/logic problems. Also when people don’t comprehend or purposefully mis-comprehend just to get offended and argue. So much of this going on right now all across the internet. It’s brutal.
For a long time people here censored themselves, which was awesome. That’s still generally true but has regressed a bit, and I think it’s due to (a) feeling comfortable around one another after years and (b) the general online trend toward arguing about everything in comment sections and (c) maybe some are testing my limits seeing if they can get banned.
It’s interesting, I guess, how the trend is toward more trolling/arguing than ever online, and at the same time more censorship. It probably means the average guy has little tolerance and a short leash.
I find taking insults and shitty comments on the chin to be an interesting experiment in how much tolerance I actually have. Too bad more people don’t view it that way. Instead they just say they are tolerant, then in-tolerate everyone who thinks differently or pushes boundaries.
I think you guys are confusing or conflating safe zones with something else. You all are making them sound like they’re some form of censorship when they’re just safe havens, like a confessional or a therapy session.
Maybe he meant he’ll be backpacking in January.
Europe?
Thank you Angry for not censoring me…even when I have said some really dumb stuff on a regular basis. I agree with you completely on safe zones as passive aggressive censorship.
Speaking of dumb stuff you’ve said, I am STILL waiting for you to explain how my life would be better had the quacks won the NC
Why not more carries for D haskins? I believe he ripped off a 37 yard run. No doubt he is better up the middle than bolden… I think we need to mix some power with some Lucas fly sweep-a-rew
Haskins is a stud

Same talk just a different day. He’s clearly looking forward to the future, which he should be. A JC/transfer would be wise IMO. I don’t think we were ever in the running for Golson, but he just got benched at FSU, he would have started all season for us pending injury, maybe we need to use that angle and go after a QB who might be in a battle for PT next season.
Also, excited for T. Cook to come back from that pectoral injury he suffered this summer. That would be quite a bruising backfield if Nall, Haskins and Cook can all stay healthy. Maybe Lucas and Artavis Price (sp?) as our speed guys. Where does this leave C. Brown though? Out of the mix, or just run tons of guys? With the amount of injuries our RB core has sustained this year, I think it would be wise to carry as many RB’s as possible. I am still waiting for us to become a run first team like the coaches said we would be and understand injuries hamper that effort.
Nall, Lucas, Haskins, Cook, Sands, Price (redshirts) are all fine; but they need some “tough” road graders up front who want to run the ball down the field.
And given the option, OSU needs tough WR blocking (would Collins block as a WR?). Some WR holding out their on the edge always help free the RBs for long gainers…. right Jack?
Ortiz? He got some reps last game, no touches that I saw though
They actually called us on it once. I couldn’t believe it.
Pac refs… smh… was at the hoops game just shaking my head all game. There were two non-travels called traveling before the ball was ever picked up. But what do you expect? That crew has always sucked eggs.
Anyone going to the Beav game in Santa Barbara this weekend?
I have some buddies going that still live in the area. OT but I heard rumblings SC got his knee scoped and if NM can’t go we may have a Vanderveen sighting. He’s a big boy now, but if Lorenzen (the ex Kentucky QB who weighs 300+) can do it than perhaps he can?
Vanderveen would go ahead of MM? Or do you mean he would be MM’s backup?
WFO better put his doctor on alert.
Sorry should have clarified, I believe MM will get the start if NM can’t go, and VanderVeen would come in if MM goes down or is playing poorly. Personally I would like to see MM get a full week of prepping as the starter as NM is only 48% completion rating and has more INT’s than TD’s, but GA really likes NM for some reason so I don’t know what will happen.
Haha it would suck so bad if he actually got to play and he sucked too. Talk about bursting my bubble.
I seem to remember Garrett liked him more as Mannion’s backup.
Ya at this point I’m not getting excited about any “potential ” QB.
At this point I think we should just put a cardboard cutout of Seth Collins back there and roll the dice
“He’s one of the most athletic and dynamic cardboard cutouts in the conference!”
Gary Andersen ‘hopeful’ quarterback Nick Mitchell will play for Oregon State Beavers against Washington, Seth Collins ruled out
http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2015/11/gary_andersen_hopeful_quarterb.html
Time for the coaches to get creative!
I liked the 2 QB formation we used vs CU briefly
I don’t think we have any way to watch the women’s hoops game. I got this…
http://wccsports.com/game-center/560c5e13e4b0ba7fec36b6bc/
… but I don’t know if it will have an actual stream.
The OSU WBB site shows it as a “live event” on the schedule page. The link is to a Portland streaming site which looks like it will be live at 7:00
Link is working so far.
Ruth and Marie on the floor at the same time; Sydney with 2 threes already. Stream is OK but out of focus for me.
Wow, good find.
Saw an interesting quote the other day that I was reminded of when reading Angry and Jack’s comments earlier on trolls, insults (or perceived insults), etc.
It was something like…”Discussions normally involve an exchange of knowledge; arguments often involve an exchange of ignorance.”
We do see a bit of the latter from time to time.
I’m reminded of Monty Python’s Argument Clinic. And that’s why fallacies are maddening. People conflate arguments with contradictions, theories with hypothesis… and in one case theory with illogic.
No it doesn’t.
What’s with this “Lady Beavs” talk regarding the WBB players? I thought we established the official term “Beavers with Beavers”.
So according to you guys, Rueck’s squad and Air Collins
You brut.
BWB?
Beavers Without Borders, Beavers With Beavers… They’re sister programs
What about BWW… Beavers With Wood?
BWB.
Beavers With Boners.

Bulbous Beavers Balling.
upcoming opponent UCSB playing at Cal right now on Pac-12 network
Cal wins going away 85-67. UCSB does not look like a bad team. Also USC defeated Monmouth 101-90. That same Monmouth team that won at Pauley on Friday night
Zony beats Bradley by 30. Utah beats SDSU by a handful, as Nikegon does to Baylor… both at home.
If anything, the conference power ranking should start off better than it did last year. UCLA is the one team who everyone out east will forgive and overrate just for the helluvit.
UCLA is a blue blood. They will always get the benefit of the doubt. Just look at the tourney seeding last year, they didn’t even have to play a play-in game after going 20-13. UCLA and OSU could have the same record with a similar strength of schedule and they’d still be looked upon more favorably.
I know. The East Coast bias doesn’t exist.
Right?
WBB wins 94-50 vs U o P
Well… there’s always next year. When does hoops season start?

Did anyone else notice that Horowitz left NM off of his list of potential QB’s for next season? Probably just an oversight.
BTW, Horowitz views StHC, as do many here, as better suited to WR, saying, “… I’m not convinced that his future is at quarterback. I could envision a switch to wide receiver, with a role in the wildcat formation …”
http://www.statesmanjournal.com/story/sports/blogs/horowitz/2015/11/16/beavers-quarterback-collins-out-remainder-season/75895006/
Thinking of revoking flagpole privileges in the tailgating lot for my retro Benny flag after last weeks debacle. Too harsh?
Fly that flag! It will get better. Plus you’re supporting all sports, not just football, right? :-)
Yes. Respect the process.
Attrition is a Beaver’s friend.
“The Drive,” which features OSU, maybe should be called “Survivor”….
I know there is a new thread up but didn’t want to drag it off topic right off the bat, but has anyone seen this yet?
http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ncaafb/woman-reports-rape-at-home-of-huskers-armstrong-westerkamp/ar-BBn7TTV?ocid=spartanntp
In light of his history I wonder how Biley is going to handle this.
Thanks for using good judgement and not talking about rape in the 1st comment of the new post.
To answer your question, Riley will ignore it or give a 1 game suspension if it’s true. But maybe the guys didn’t do anything wrong. We live in a rabid everything-qualifies-as-rape era now, so it’s possible the girl is crazy or she had ‘buyer’s remorse’. We’ll have to wait to hear all sides of this one.
But this goes to my point on that California Yes means Yes Bill — guys are going to have to get recordings of consent to protect themselves. Especially high profile guys like football players. I definitely would not want to be in college during this era. I mean we are not far from drafting contracts before sex.
Indeed good judgment, saved about 50 Jack posts right there.
Better make sure you can prove she wasn’t drunk or otherwise compromised when she signed that contact, though, and you better make sure it has a solid time recorded. I can see people setting up hidden cameras to document consent eventually.
My question wasn’t so much about the accuracy (or “truthiness” ala Colbert) of the allegations but more to the question of how Biley handles it. Does he learn from his mistakes? (That was kind of rhetorical).
I’ll be following the story out of morbid curiosity.
While I don’t condone rape I also don’t believe young ladies should put themselves into a position where they can be raped so in cases like this I don’t consider them to be 100% innocent . Late night, probably booz involved, etc.
Going into a room full of noise and dangerous boys might make her thirsty and hot but she has to realize that she’s messing with fire and shit happens.

Why does the MAC play so many football games on Tuesday and Wednesday? TV coverage?
Can’t think of any other reason
Probably, and gambling addicts have nothing better to do.
Yes. Money and TV exposure.
That has to be shitty for a student athletes.
fewer TV eyes. If given the choice on a Saturday what game are you going to watch? Unless you’re a fan of MAC football or a MAC school, does anyone really give a shit? All about money
