    Beavs suck.

Dawgs go up 38-0 before they put the scrubs in and win 48-10.

Only watching for the comedic factor. Play yakkity sax over the broadcast when the Beavers are on defense.

  2. Remember, we are all beaver fans here. Hopefully we can enjoy a good game. I didn’t bet my life on this game and, I don’t HAVE to watch the game if I don’t want to…..

    • It reminds me of a few years back when there wasn’t continuity on defense. Players couldn’t rely on the schemes Because not everyone knew their jobs so they just did whatever and couldn’t guess right enough times in a row. I don’t know what they were practicing prior to the season started. It looks really bad.

  3. So UW has 5 down linemen and 2 TE and we stack 2 DL in there…sometimes 3. I wasn’t a math major but not too surprised we’re getting gashed on the ground.

  4. That dude needs to be rerouted going across the middle! Cheap completion! Get your hands on receivers, disrupt timing. This QB is pedestrian!

    • I wouldn’t mind trying Nolan. Catch u dub off guard with a new qb they didn’t scout for. No tape on him. When the pocket clears he can get you 7 yards. The opportunity are there for gebbia.

    • And the D line gets zero pressure. And the Online can’t block. Watch the lines dude. 3 guys get zero pressure on the QB and on offense 6 guys can’t block 4.

It’s pretty simple. Overmatched and it’s not even close. This team will be lucky to win a game. Nice recruiting Smith.

2 star coaches recruiting and coaching 2 star talent. Not hard to figure out why the Beavs suck.

Maybe try building and recruiting some lines first instead of position players.

Why would any decently talented player want to come to Corvallis. Losers lose.

Doesn’t help when you have a coaching staff that doesn’t realize this.

  5. Gebbia is holding on to the ball a hair too long. He also is not getting pass pro but his accuracy and indecisiveness are hurting the offense! If JJ is down, Beavs are effed!

  6. Battle of the trenches really the story here. Their O Line manhandling the 2 guys we put out there. Their D Line is in the backfield before Gebbs even gets to his 3rd step. Might not be super exciting but UW would be smart to run the ball and they could run away with this. Pun intended.

    • Yeah! I’m perplexed about the effort! I understand when someone is better and makes plays but the lack of effort and enthusiasm is on the coaches. Motivation is part of the gig! This team seems flat and/or overwhelmed when adversity hits!

  7. What’s really sad is that UW doesn’t look very imposing at all! They’re just way better than the Beavs in the trenches. That’s sad!

  8. Is it just me, or is our offensive play calling super vanilla compared to the last couple years? Gebbia supposedly knows the play book better thsn anyone but it doesn’t seem like we’re using much of it.

This is almost Riley-esque! Everything is straight drop back. Why not roll the pocket a bit (to both sides). Get some RPO going but also keep the pressure of the OLine. Very vanilla.

There’s plays available in the passing game consistently but Gebbia is so bad. If he is the best option available, that’s a massive blunder for the coaching staff

    • This is important! I really wish the offense didn’t need a full half to warm-up! I’ll be honest, I would like to see Chance for a series.

      What the????

  11. So if a person turns on the game now and sees 24-21 At half knowing we get the ball first, I think they’d say that’s pretty good. Both sides of the ball are looking better.

  12. Ok that was a strange ending!

The adjustments will tell a lot about this staff! This UW team is not as good as WSU. Force their QB to throw to beat you (Load the box). They’re (UW) not going to destroy the Beavs throwing the football, especially with effective pressure.

    Anyone’s game!

    • Yes, adjustments. JS said before last week that he prefers getting the ball after the half cause he uses the half to make adjustments. Seems you’d make adjustments on both sides of the ball at the half but he especially mentioned offensive adjustments to start the second half.
Although, seems he’s made adjustments already when he began to emphasize JJ after the first series (or two?).

Anyone’s game indeed! Need balanced time of possession or heavy to O.

  13. Halftime and only 24-21, not as bad as I was expecting. I dumped the cable, and it’s nice to be listening to Mike Parker on the radiocast again. A much-appreciated slice of good old Corvallis normalcy and familarity.

  14. This telecaster thinks the Beavs will re-kick after Washington ran into the kicker? Where’d they find this guy, at Gary Andersen’s bar & grill?

    • This is like Hawaii last year. Luton was clearly a deer in headlights. They needed to make a change. Same situation here. Give him one more series at most, but as of now he’s holding us back from a win.

  15. The backup Chance needs some time! The Beavs will have to push the ball downfield to win this game. Otherwise, UW will load the box and force Gebbia to win it with his arm (assuming the Beavs score here?!)! Plus, it’s good to know what you have as a backup.

  16. How can they not see that his body (let alone the ball) was clearly over?! We’ll see, does JS have a spine here to at least challenge? He should be outraged!

  17. They said spot confirm when they first got back break

Game over, I understand going for it, need more than 3 pts to win this game, but can’t beat Washington and the refs

  18. 5
    2

The refs changed this game regardless of what happens here on out.. they have to get help from booth there and Niner needs to do more to fight for his team right there. You can’t let that happen on back to back plays. Nick Saban would have literally killed someone if the refs tried to pull some shit like that on Bama

  19. On that punt coverage, is the UW player allowed to cross into the end zone and then come back to down the ball? Wouldnt they be considered out of bounds? Too layte to really care, but i didnt think he established himself in bounds before touching the ball.

  20. Couple things: Gebbia is out of his own head right now; throwing into tight coverage and inaccurate in general and 2) Not sure Taylor is the guy you want o design a play around (IMO).

I’ve only seen a little bit of Z Beason and he is a stud! Bradford and Champ are the other two that should be the clutch guys (as WRs) IMO.

  21. So J Irish seems to be a bust! Can’t see the field (fastest guy on the team) as a Junior? Missing some of these studs we’ve been hearing about?! RB is really thin too. Yikes!!

I want coaches who you can tell, just by watching them, are burning with a desire to win and protect their team, which is often the same thing. Erickson, Casey, for example.

  23. I’d like to see Smith just go off at least once when we are getting shafted by the refs. PAC-12 refs should just be quarantined for life.

    • especially after that second spot. 15 yard unsportsmanlike on the coach at the spot on the field puts it at the UW 18. show some fight for cryin out loud.

  24. Who knows what to think! The conference is horrible as a whole! There are definitely no playoff contenders. This is as bad as it’s ever been (in the conference) that I can remember.

  25. 3
    8

Here’s how good this coaching staff is. In the past 8 days given Nick Rolovich and Jimmy Lake their first PAC-12 win in their first try. Sleep well losers, I mean Beavers.

  26. 1
    1

Hate to say it but UW played this well! Kick the FG, just over a minute left and you know the opp (Beavs) have no chance to drive and score. There needs to be some changes on offense and defense to compete!

        • 1
          1

1.) Clearly not a beaver fan based on your posts.

2.) “UW played this well” Arguable at best unless you are a homer

3.) “No chance to drive and score” I guess you missed the end of the first half when they scored a touchdown in less time. Huge chance.

4.) “things need to change to compete” compete?! Refs don’t completely miss spot back to back first downs and beavers are winning with 5 to go.

So whatever team you actually root for we don’t need your misinformed comments here.

          • Excuse me, but I’ve been a Beaver fan since the late 80’s first off. I’m objective, so what! UW did play that situation well! They did what they had done most of the game, run the football early (kill time) and hit the 3rd down with the underneath throw. Waiting to kick the FG was a good call rather than going for it (to try and secure a TD+ lead) because the Beavs couldn’t manage more than 100 yards passing the whole game. I wasn’t referring to the first half, it was specifically at the end of the game (one of the last UW drives).

“Refs don’t completely miss spot back to back first downs and beavers are winning with 5 to go.” Listen, one thing as a former coach and player of this great game I have learned is that one or two plays and/or players don’t win or lose the game for you! Were the calls bullshit? Yes! I said so earlier (where’s your quote of that?)! But don’t blame that one spot call for the loss here. There were far more opportunities to win than just that point and time in the game!

Isn’t this actually called “AngryBeavs”, in the land of the free?! First, you’re not gonna sway me to leave because you don’t like my posts. Don’t like them? Ok! Don’t read ’em lol. I’ll survive! But don’t question my love or allegiance to this team! Been through Pettibone and some amazing years up through the Riley Era and all the way current!

            Go Beavs!

        • I apologize for misreading, and trust you are a beaver fan then. I had my doubts when I read “thin at rb” above, and it’s clearly one of the strongest positions on the team. But otherwise we can disagree on our opinions. I think indeed a call like that can change the outcome of the game, not only on the blown call and resultant TD but momentum change as well . And I think the beavers had plenty of chance to make it on the final drive. And being “competitive” is not even worth arguing.

    • Under 50% completion and under 100 yards passing. That has to be the worst QB performance in the past 30 years. Even Seth the great had better stats than that. Hell he could at least hurdle someone.

        • Let’s not forget that Gebbia is “Riley approved” lol. That is unsettling in itself. I will say that not all of the issues are on Gebbia. The O-Line has not been great either but Gebbia is indecisive and inaccurate. He’s missing that “it” factor IMO. Some have it (like de Laura) and some are just average! Chance Nolan needs to get a shot though.

          • 1
            1

Gebbia was good vs Oregon, and he was good vs WSU after early issues. But this was so bad he needs to sit for a while and figure it out. Somehow he got the bad habit of being fidgety in the pocket.

  27. 86 yards passing folks. No attempt to ever run for a first down when the pocket opened up. If Nolan can’t throw better than gebbia, try gulbranson. No wonder the offense is boring. Gebbia can’t throw the darn ball. Fun night.

    • Does the Pac-12/OSU require mandatory eye tests? Not just han eye chart but peripheral vision, color blindness, depth perception? I seriously wonder about Gebbia.

  28. 1
    1

Chance should at least get a series next game (assuming there is a game)! Gebbia is not getting it done. But there are a other issues that still need to be fixed. We all need to come to grips that UW is not very good! Very disappointing.

    • I think the Beavs o-line was fine with run blocking, even impressive. The defense got gashed too much on run defense, but they were on the field a lot also.

  29. Score reflects a 6 pt loss but this was way worse than that. Run defense is terrible and o line didn’t appear to be able to pass block and Gebbia was awful when he did have some time to throw. It’s unfortunate that we’ve regressed but yet supposedly have more talent than we’ve had in years. Being perennial bottom dwellers is tiring.

  30. Smith and crew are teachers and moral leaders, they’re simply NOT FIGHTERS.

I knew a guy who called that type of guys, “pansies who never had to put on an unwashed pair of shorts”, seems to fit.

    • Yea to be so passive while getting screwed was hard to watch. Someone needed to cuss the refs out on 3rd down! Not absolutely losing your shit about the 3rd down spot is how 4th down happened. It looked like on both plays UW yanked the ball and Munchie back after he cross the line to gain and refs were like ok.

      • Casey’s not the only example; see Rueck. That little gentleman knows when to take a “T” for the team, even when to get fined for speaking the truth.

  31. 7
    2

Rashad better start getting his shit together or he’s going to have to play next year just to try to prove he has NFL level talent. Now two games of missed tackles and being out of position. Zero impact on the game.

  32. Beavs give up more 3rd and 18s than anyone else. Didn’t agree with the targeting call but why are you in that situation of needing a big hit to prevent a 1st down and allowing the QB to scamper that far. Then Genbia should have run for the 1st down on 2nd down. He would have made it unless refs jobbed is on another spot. That back in the flat looked like was open multiple times but somehow need to do a quick look off and hit him. Gebbi always ignored him and was busy looking at everyone else who was covered well. What sucks is we usually play pretty flat at home for the last 5+ years. So much for F King Alexander bringing a winning football culture as OSU President. I want to win but progress has been so slow. Saps the life out of fans. Incredibly frustrating. Refs changed the game with the poor spots though. Would have been a great back and forth game to finish with whoever execute better winning. That is what both teams deserved in what was a hard fought contest to that point. Then the refs cheapened it.

  33. Sucks living in TN and staying up to 1:30 to watch us get screwed over by the refs. I agree angry on the other 4th down calls but this was the right call tonight.

Gebbia should have ran on 2nd down, had a lane and with the clock stopping on a first downs always take it.

Agree need to give Nolan a chance.

    • How is Smith an accomplice?? THEY REVIEWED IT and still blew it. Really glad he didn’t blow an unnecessary time out then for no reason.

    • One of the biggest lessons of this game (football) is how to respond to adversity. Games are not decided on just one or two plays. In fact, most coaches (worth a damn) would argue that 5 or so plays could be altered to change (adversity) the outcome of any game! The call tonight absolutely sucked! It should be reviewed again and penalties on those refs should be enforced but… that’s not why the Beavs lost! How many 3rd downs did UW convert? How about the Beavs? Change a couple of those (on either side) and who knows what happens?!

Let’s say the Beavs get the call and score a TD with 3 plus minutes left (now ahead by 4) do you think UW would have had a lot of troubles driving the field to score a TD in 3 minutes? We’ll never know, but objectively, I’d say “no”. Washington mostly did what they wanted on offense and their QB was below average at best! Their trench players were better and they made plays when they needed them, pretty simple!

  34. This game really falls on Gebbia. Smith needs to take some heat for not challenging the spot on that 4th down play; going for it was the right decision, though.

The offense was able to run the ball. That has not happened against Washington since at least 2012. With that said, there was absolutely no reason why Gebbia should have had less than 150 yards passing. He missed on some critical throws throughout the game. He did not use his tight ends enough, who had a clear size advantage. Most importantly, he did not take advantage of the 5-10 yards that he could have easily scrambled for throughout the game.

Defense did a phenomenal job considering the fact that they were on the field for the first ten minutes of the game. They were stout against the run in the 2nd half. They couldn’t generate much pressure, but they were able to limit the passing game in the red zone. Like last year against UW, they showed up.

      • That’s a pretty good take on the game and agree with your points. However, I think that 3rd down challenge is arguable. If things went as it should have, we shouldn’t even be talking about it. He went for it on 4th and technically got the first down until the refs blew it.

    • Wilner’s tweet: “#GoBeavs AD Scott Barnes and HC Jonathan Smith should ask for an explanation from the conference on the failed fourth-down conversion. Unless there was an angle we didn’t see, that call looked egregious”

But, as Beaver26 said above, it never comes down to only one or two plays.

This is the first time I have posted so I hope my opinion can be welcomed here!
I think that are defense showed some improvement especially compared to the last few years. I think for the time being Nolan would be the better QB as he seems to be a more polished passer than Gebbia.
In college football I believe challenges are worthless as the booth reviews anything anyways so I don’t think you can blame the blatantly missed call on Smith.
That said we had a similar situation to what USC has had the last 2 weeks and we didn’t convert. While we have a good run offense, our passing game needs some development. This could be improved with better QB play and better WR play. Having Harrison would definitely help as he would provide a reliable target downfield and it would help to have a QB that could reliably throw a pass 20 yards downfield.
Even with the horrible job of the refs there is room for improvement and I have to be impressed that we stayed in a game with U DUB especially after the last few years

    • On board with trying Nolan. However, I don’t know if he is a polished passer because I haven’t seen him in a college game. Yes he played jc and has highlights but nothing guaranteed once he faces the big boys. I am not holding my breath Smith makes a change, just like I didn’t hold my breath the refs would review that spot of the call last night.

  36. Just watched on DVR…
WE GOT TOTALLY FUCKED ON THOSE TWO SHIT SPOTS ON THE GOAL LINE!!!!!!
Gebbia sucks. I see why he got beat out at Neb. Scatter arm with NO pocket presence. Every throw was off. WTF?
D made a huge leap as did the O line.
This should have been a win. Luck O da f’ing Beavs!

There was a throw in the 4th quarter where Gebbia was out of the pocket and he threw down the sideline. In real-time, I thought he was just trying to throw the ball away, but on replay, the receiver was wide open and Gebbia threw it ten feet over his head. I was thinking many college QB’s can make that low throw on a line so the receiver can catch it on the sideline. I guess he was decent against Oregon last year because he had no time to think about it?

  37. These late games always have suspect calls, too much money riding on them. I actually went to bed after the spot was upheld, the fix was in.
