Game Thread: Montana Grizz

Feels like the first game where the casual fans might start getting interested in OSU again if we can win convincingly.

Won’t be an easy task vs Montana’s prolific QB and RB tandem as well as their 9th year LB(still don’t understand how that’s even possible, even with Covid and a redshit and an injury year, but here we are)

Go Beavs!

  1. Atkinson 3 of 4, to 3 DIFFERENT receivers, true to Shephards focus on spreading the ball around.
    7-0 Beavs, 11:24 left in 1st qtr

None of the three named Legree

  2. Beavs speedy WRs and Newberry are nice weapons to have. Can’t remember a Beaver team having so many capable playmakers on the field at the same time. Don’t need to force feed one guy over and over when you can trust them all.

  3. I am frankly shocked at how competent we continue to look. I think on paper our talent should be inferior to last couple of years but we look so much better anyone on previous coaching and recruiting staff needs to take a serious long look in the mirror.

  4. Damn, this team is well coached. What the eff was happening last year? A clown show with supposedly an experienced staff. Glad the past ties to the program have been cut once and for all.

  5. I’m mostly enjoying USA’s broadcast.
They don’t overdo it with the graphics. Haven’t seen any of those annoying in game interviews that take up more than half of the screen.
Winning helps make the game more enjoyable too, but I’d take this over ESPN any day.

  6. Seriously, I can’t recall a season at this point as long as I’ve watched OSU look like they’re growing game by game and a team we should handle being handled.

    Are we back?

  7. This is the validation they needed after the first two games.

Now run run run and run some more in the second half. Finish the game off with no injuries and move on to next week.

  8. Some important context to consider in this relatively “fast” start; new staff, significant roster turnover, two top 25 FBS teams to start, #2 FCS team, and reasonably close to being 2-1 and potentially ranked.

I can’t recall a Riley, Andersen, or Smith coached team that started this well with this much change.

    MAYBE Erickson?

This team looks prepared and as if they expect to win.

What a pleasant surprise and likeable team in the shitty context if D1 college football.

  9. To me, Atkinson is the key to it all.
Legree is great of course, but the drop off between Atkinson and the next man up is a huge gap. Like it goes from very entertaining football to nearly unwatchable football just like that.
He’s everything ABs have wanted out of a QB.
So I’m going to enjoy it while it lasts.
Shephard said it after the game, we need to keep him upright so he can continue to do what he does and not miss time.
