We hardly knew thee, and no idea if you did anything worthwhile. See ya, dude.
Who’s up next?
And how does this affect GA — did he have a good relationship with TS? Could be interesting. 3rd AD for him and Tinkle in just a few years, which can’t make them happy.
Pasted this in the previous thread but it’s more appropriate here. Canzano writes of GA’s desire to be here long term as well as TS’s relationship with GA, which didnt sound great.
TS had some new ideas that he brought to the table, but I think having an AD on board that has our coach’s best interest in mind is very important this time around.
http://www.oregonlive.com/sports/oregonian/john_canzano/index.ssf/2016/09/canzano_oregon_states_next_ad.html
Just finished reading that now. Yeah, it didn’t seem like TS had a good relationship with anyone. That cold fish comment seems accurate. He made Bob D look like Mr. Personality.
Plus Georgia Tech is the school he played football at and graduated from. So once in a lifetime chance for him. We will wait and see who emerges as a strong candidate.
Yeah, Canzano makes a pretty good pitch for elevating Massari
I agree, he seems hands on and enthusiastic.
That’s what she said.
Everyone keeps putting words in my mouth :(
Not everyone… just BG… and that’s not his words.
It’s my dangling participle.
That’s what he said.
I have reached out to Mark quite a few times and he has always gotten right back to be and got the answer i was seeking. He is very upfront in supporting all things Beavers. I would be quite fine with him stepping up.
I’d be fine with him.
Not a huge splash but I think he and GA get along, and he has more personality than TS.
Seems like this is Massari’s job to turn down as they’ll probably lose him permanently if he gets passed over twice for the position.
Two other names that might come up:
1. Dave Cohen – Ass’t AD at ASU, Oregon native, used to work for the Blazers
2. Kurt Gulbrand – Ass’t AD at Colorado, OSU alum
Did anybody see the interview TS did during the ISU game about the Terrace? Very cringe worthy, I was waiting for him to starts calling out bueller……..bueller……….bueller..
Yeah I did see that and I had the same feeling.
Kinda reminded me of Ricky Bobby after his first race. “I don’t know what to do with my hands”
Totally. Just like his introductory press conference. He lost me on day 1.
Reminded me of when SNL did a spoof of the Gore/Bush debates, when Al Gore talked about his lockbox. Zzzz……
He might have had something else on his mind. I have no clue what it could have been, but he may have been distracted by something.
James Dockery wants an interview..I say why not.
I don’t know if I’d give Dockery the AD job but let him have a shot at the assistant seat if Massari moves up.
Dockery is one of my all-time favorite Beavs and I hope he somehow gets a position in the athletic department in some capacity.
I’ll never forget meeting Doc in class in 2008 when he was recovering. We had debate class together and we were on the same debate team. He always gave me shit for being a blazer fan (he is a huge laker), didn’t really know who he was, or obviously would become at the time. Was such a joy to be around and always positive and funny. One of my fav beavs of all time, prolly just because of the personal connection, but I feel he will be around this program for a long time.
C’mon angry, “…no idea if you did anything worthwhile…”?
All ya need to know is this from Schnell: “This is a huge loss for OSU. Wow.”
That’s enough to convince me not to abandon ship!
BTW, I like Casey right where he is. However, he has done a heck of a fund raising job…having a winning team doesn’t hurt. Not sure that ability would transfer well to the AD slot.
Speaking of my favorite gourmand, surprised I haven’t heard her take on the food options at the terrace; you know she was there trying one of everything.
if it comes down to Canzano vs. Schnell I will go with Canzano’s perspective every time. Bye bye Todd.
“This is a huge loss for OSU. Wow.”
Schnell probably came as she typed that, and Goe as he read it.
I think I’m going to be sick. Thanks for the visual, Scotty
Had to outdo the other one ;)
Haha, thanks for the laugh.
Why is she still opining on Beaver sports anyway, I thought she wrote for SI or the NY Times.? Just shut up and go away. There are 100 other fucking college sports programs waiting for your deep insight!
At least with Casey in this role, he could get away with just saying “Kiss the rings, b*#ch” and the donors would have throw some money at the program. But i still like him as coach as long as he’s willing to be a head coach.
http://media0.giphy.com/media/rDhPGY0iC45J6/giphy.gif
If Casey steps into the corner office… that would most likely mean we get Checketts back at OSU
I seem to recall that when they were looking for a replacement for bdc there were comments made here which had something to do with Massari being hard to work with or something to that effect.
Am I remembering that wrong?
I remember that as well.
BREAKING:
Oregonian just announced Duvivier won’t play with beavs hoops this season due to personal reasons. Sounds like he could come back….
Canadians are historically unrealiable…..
First Stansbury then Malcolm.
If their country’s mascot wasn’t a beaver….
He seems like a good guy, but I certainly won’t miss the two or three bricked layups per game.
So the freshman get immediate playing time. Sounds good to me. Get them up to speed with last year’s freshman class and build from there. If Duvivier comes back next year, he could be valuable as bench depth.
Broken up about Stansbury leaving
Article link
http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2016/09/malcolm_duvivier_will_not_play.html#incart_river_index
Does this mean he abandons his scholarship?
Would Tinkle need to give him a new one year scholly to come back?
Who thinks Tink is broken up about this?
He is an upperclassman on very young team, this is not good news even if he is not a lights out player.
It opens a scholarship up for this year assuming Duvivier comes back.
Ratbones has a story up with some quotes from GA on the AD search.
http://m.orangemedianetwork.com/osu-adtodd-stansbury-leaves-for-georgia-tech/article_d53103ba-80d7-11e6-9a5f-8770a21956e2.html?mode=jqm
I like that Dr. Ray is lately visibly involved in athletics.
But his phrase “…everything we do is about inclusive excellence and leadership.” sounded like something from a HR seminar.
Hmmm “inclusive excellence”……well, OK. Sorta like a participation trophy?
I hope he has a complete vision for this inclusive excellence, because it would suck to be stuck with some run of the mill excellence.
Unpopular scotty prediction:
After so many years of white dude ADs, OSU hires a minority candidate. Massari, upset about being passed over twice, leaves. Cries of -ism from random idiots saying he didn’t want to work under a ___.

I missed the games last week for my appendix removal. But looks like my new baby girl is helping my picks.
Yikes, bad timing. Hope fatherhood is going well for you otherwise. Will be the first of many missed games for various reasons.
I know. Serious luck of the Beavs timing. I think with one more personal issue I get a free OLine scholarship.
someone want to explain what the plus and minus numbers in parenthesis are?
I’ll take a shot.
Predicted scores for one game each week are used as tie breakers for those who correctly predicted the outcome for the same number of games.
The numbers in parenthesis are the difference between the predicted score and the actual score for both the winner and loser of that one game (the tie breaker). Taken as an absolute, the total of the two numbers breaks the tie and determines the order of finish of the participants.
EDIT-After reviewing this weeks results:
This week 8 participants correctly predicted the outcome for 3 games, to break the tie the predicted scores for the tiebreaker game (OSU-ISU) were compared to the actual results. Scotty and whiskey remained tied since they both were 13 points off in predicting the score of the tiebreaker game.
Yeah not a big deal with Duvier (still can’t spell his name). Young players can get up to speed fast and dominate college ball, especially guards.
THis is what I want the new AD to be able to do:
Put butts in seats
and
“I’d say this, if I were Oregon St, I’d go to Adidas. You’re always going to be second fiddle under the Nike umbrella.” – @ESPNAndyKatz
Change to Adidas, and make it so that we don’t lose money to do it in the contract.
I also read an article recently that OSU and WSU are granted the same amount of $$$ ($2.5 million) from Nike. That’s a slap in the face.
Arrrrr the pirate be pillagin’ our sponsorship booty!
Did any katz say that or somebody else?
I think it was from Radio interview with the Fan
Eh, I like it in theory, but Nike has more cache (and cash), so there’s that, and then they’re in a better market position than Adidas, so if Adidas ever goes under they’d have to come crawling back to Nike.
Nike is a real cancer to the sport, though.
Its adidas or under armour (which is nike, kind of). Most don’t know this but In 1999 OSU was a test school for under armour cold gear base layers (tops and bottoms). It was the only thing they had at the time.
The problem is even when both teams were contenders in the early and mid 2000’s, nike shit on the school in favor of UO, which is understandable kind of but there were never any offers to upgrade to a top tier with them, even after a couple of NC’s in baseball. I think even with there hq being here we should switch to something else or at least entertain other offers to force nikes hand. It would be a slap in the face to nike for us to leave and rightfully so. But first OSU needs to get relevant in football and keep up the pressure in basketball (men’s and women’s) and baseball.
One of the things that pisses me off the most about the contract, look at the gear in local stores. You will see 6 different duck jerseys. Only one beaver. I understand that the ducks are the hot team currently, but I see just as many people wearing beaver gear, so why not make more options for us? Leaving money on the table…
Here’s a list of how much money schools are bring in with shoe contracts.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.businessinsider.com/biggest-ncaa-athletic-apparel-contracts-2015-9?client=ms-android-verizon
These totals are misleading because nike sponsers more schools, but adidas still forks out some dough.
Here’s an older list of who sponser who.
http://footballscoop.com/news/nike-adidas-or-ua-who-wears-what-in-fbs/
Who knew Russell athletics had any teams? And georgia tech is one of them.
Forgot to ad UCLAs recent deal with Under Armour. They left a 7.5 million deal with Adidas for 18 million for under armour. Adidas has money that’s burning a hole in their pockets.
Opps
http://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/05/25/sports/ucla-under-armour-sponsorship.html
Adidas has been doing well lately, especially with their Adidas Originals brand. Heck, people were saying Nike was losing the Olympics to them and Under Armour (for example: http://solecollector.com/news/2016/08/nike-losing-adidas-under-armour-olympics). Kanye’s Yeezy brand has been helping them a TON, since people are addicted to anything Kanye endorses for some. I don’t get it personally, but if it means adidas can keep producing the soccer gear I love, then I’m okay with it.
Nike does have a little more than 1.5 times the revenue of adidas ($30 billion a year to $18 billion), but as long as Europe exists, which is where adidas is HUGE, I don’t see them going under any time in the forseeable future. If any of the current college football uniform manufacturers go under, it’ll probably be Under Armor (yearly revenue of around $4 billion), but it’s very unlikely.
A personal anecdote before I finish: I had the privilege of going to both the Nike and adidas employee stores in Beaverton and Portland respectively. When I was at the Nike store, they had a sizeable section devoted to everything Ducks.
The Beavers? They had three or four individual shelves, and they were right next to Oklahoma State and all the other teams Nike sponsors.
If OSU wants to be treated like they actually matter by their apparel company, they should ditch Nike when they can.
I’m changing my vote to under armour only because of this. Adidas has some aweful looking uniforms.
https://www.google.com/amp/www.sbnation.com/platform/amp/college-football/2015/7/24/9031341/adidas-michigan-notre-dame-nebraska-ucla-why-why-why-why-why?client=ms-android-verizon
I won’t disagree that adidas has had some serious misses, but every time I think of Under Armour, I think of this hideous creation:
http://images.solecollector.com/complex/image/upload/qvfnubxhhs3x88afrsrc.jpg
On a more positive note, they have this year’s Notre Dame uniforms, which kind of work, and kind of don’t:
http://www.ncaa.com/news/football/article/2016-07-22/notre-dame-football-releases-2016-shamrock-series-uniforms
TBH, I don’t really trust Under Armour when it comes to uniforms.
UNDER ARMOR is from Baltimore. I lived back there when it was becoming a thing in 2002. I have too much Bias to support them. I cannot stand Terp fans and DMV fans in any way. Under Armor is theirs. Fuck those assholes. Thats some east coast shit.
I know Adidas isn’t born and raised in Portland, but i would much rather the Beavs move to them then those fucks at Under Armor.
How about Goodwill? That would really fly here in Oregon! Pre-worn recycled uni’s that don’t match baby! Confuse the fuck out of their opponents. The guy with the undersized Pop Warner Wildcats uni takes the handoff from the BFE middle school uni wearing QB. Who has the ball!?!?!? Wut? Touchdown Beavs!!!!
Cutting edge? Lunch pail U? I think so
Maybe there is an old box of tear away jerseys in the basement at Gill they could bring back to life.
Signing with a Euro soccer company is a horrible idea. Off the top of my head I can’t think of one decent Adidas designed football uniform. Don’t forget Phil Knight has done some things for the Beavs too. He gave money to baseball when Notre Dame was chasing Casey.
Someone mentioned the U’s new “legend of the u” threads…those are actually pretty nice.
Phil has officially retired, I don’t think we have a obligation to nike anymore. That’s why I was saying above OSU needs to play hardball once the contract is up. Make them lay some money down or make them look dumb for letting us go. I just think that if it’s important for nike to keep us then they should show how important we are.
And adidas does have some shitty looking uniforms but money is money and I think adidas or under armour would pay some good money to walk into nikes back yard and steal a school away.
No, he didn’t.
Phil didn’t donate money to the baseball program to keep Casey, I know that for a fact from a credible source. Nike did increase the amount of payment going to Casey in his contract, but that’s standard procedure for any coach for a program with an apparel deal.
^this^
I’d love to hear who your “credible source” is…
I’ve heard the legend of Uncle Phil saved Casey before too, pretty sure it came from a beat writer (Goe or Canzano maybe?). I’d be interested in hearing what actually happened from a credible source.
I’ve only heard that Casey story from Duck fans. Phil has done nothing like that before for the beavs, why am I supposed to believe he did it for Casey? It makes zero sense.
The easiest credible source would be his charitable gift reporting over the years. He’s not given one red cent to OSU.
And why should he? He has no use for design planners who use actual science.
The most positive spin I’ve heard that was close to the truth is that PK acted as a mediator between Nike and Casey in order to get his endorsement deal bumped upward… to save OSU from itself and losing another coach… and that whole line of Duck bullshit.
If that impending offer were to come from another Nike school, he would have had the same talks with them, upping his deal due to the fact the company was talking to the back to back reigning champion in his sport. And it would have been done with the new team. Losing that asset to an Adidas school would have been bad for their image, so they had to act before they lost him.
Sorry Angry@angry, I shouldn’t have said “credible source” to make it sound like it was a donor, a beat writer, etc.
Trust me, it’s fact. It was all Nike contract re-structuring to not lose (at the time) Nike’s best coach to an Adidas school.
So it didn’t come from phils personal account…. but “nike” approves to double his salary. Just so happens they do this while he’s being lured to Notre Dame. Do the math. Or ask Casey
The contention is that it didn’t come from his pocket and that the math says so.
So… thank you?
Feel your way to whatever conclusion you want, I guess. I just went with the easy path and figured a business does business for business reasons.
Adidas did a nice job on Miami Hurricanes uniforms just this week.
Can’t remember where I saw the link.
Here’s what I think you’re looking for:

Also, I really love what adidas has been doing with Texas A&M’s uniforms, too, especially the throwback ones they unveiled yesterday. Sleek, modern, but also respecting the past in the process. If adidas gives us anything like this, I would be VERY happy:
http://www.goodbullhunting.com/2016/9/21/13002454/aggies-unveil-throwback-uniforms-for-south-carolina-game-texas-am
Some of UA and Adidas gear has been “out there”, but I don’t think its fair to say Nike’s gear is Superior. All Nike has is its name and that carries it a long way. Nike has done some piss poor gear for us so I don’t consider that
If addidas did nice work like that for the Beavs, would look great in the NCAA MBB and WBB….Baseball too….
Just need football to catch up.
We need a throwback sports bra uni.
But modernized with a thong design on the pant…
This^^^^ cutting edge gender neutral.
GT getting rolled by Clemson. They want to make Todd feel “at home” with a nice home field loss.

Under Armor has been muscling in on Nike’s territory lately. Seems like picking up Nike’s in state rival would be a logical move in order to keep that competition going, and OSU could bemefit from having a brand with a vested interest in seeing OSU succeed.
This story from the wall street journal is worth a read.
http://www.wsj.com/amp/articles/under-armour-is-stepping-on-nikes-turfliterally-1445469476
Yeah, Under Armour has really been taking it to Nike in Oregon. I would consider adidas more of an in-state rival though, since they actually went as far as to put their US headquarters in Portland to steal Nike talent and have a better grasp of the industry trends. Under Armour’s making great in-roads (they’re building a massive new office at the Metro Family YMCA, see: http://www.bizjournals.com/portland/blog/threads_and_laces/2015/06/what-under-armours-gleaming-portland-hq-will-look.html), but their headquarters is still in Baltimore.
I do like how they’re taking Nike to task for not maintaining those running tracks, that’s for sure.
But they still won’t have the campus.
Nike’s campus is a neat little village with several amenities. There’s the Kobe Bryant Jewelry Store and the Lance Armstrong Pharmacy. There’s an upscale dorm, almost a hotel, with the Tiger Woods honeymoon suite. And between the Oscar Pistorius Shooting Range and the Hope Solo Zen Garden is the Joe Paterno Child Development Center, where the kiddos love to do arts and crafts.

No cliche kitten posters to waste those young minds.
On the negative side, this looks like typical OSU bumbling. They add Tinkle and Andersen (the latter kind of just falling to them), but they can’t stabilize the AD.
The positive side might be that Andersen likely gets input into his new boss, and maybe that makes him likely to stay long enough to build a program.
And sign a legitimate PAC QB or three….
Because you know, if I don’t have a good AD that recruits like, I can’t land a legitimate QB or three?
I understand you meant that if we get an AD that GA will like and we appease to his desires in an AD, then he’ll most likely stick with OSU longer and he’ll have more opportunities to get the program where he wants it.
On the flip side to that, I don’t think the newest coach will have the largest impact with the new hire vs. Tinkle, Ruik, Casey, Softball coach, Track and Field coach, Wrestling coach, Gymnastics coach, etc. If they were smart, they would hear out every coach and make a collective hire, but ultimately, we finally have in the major sports, coaches who are all like minded with the same vision. That is the identity of the Athletic Department. Continuity and Development of the Student Athletes. That’s the basis of this hire. Hire someone with experience, yes, but also hire someone who knows how to raise funds from donors and knows how to get home and homes with big programs. That will keep anderson here for the long haul, getting to our recruiting pipelines like Florida, Georgia, Texas, etc.
Purdue hires GT’s AD.

I like Tiger Balmz better.
I just saw this. Awesome.
I am curious about people’s assessment of Kearseley’s performance last weekend. I didn’t watch the second half after the atrocious tackling on ISU’s 75-yard TD run.
I have read that he graded out well, and only missed “two assignments.” I think someone on here posted that he missed two blitzes….how do people think he did?
Is he capable of being a difference maker on the line this weekend?
Excellent question, heads the list of a few that I think could spell the difference between a 13+ pt blowout and a “statement” upset.
1-Will Kearsley lead an improved O-line which results in a better rushing game? Note that Yanni was listed this week as “probable” even though still at #1 on the depth chart.
2-Will Hungalu play and do well, or will old man Willis come in and do very well?
3-With Togiai out, will Lucas be more involved?
4-Will Pierce get enough carries to make a difference? And, will Nall benefit from improved line play and return to CW like performance.
Lots to watch (beyond Bolden, Villy, and Seth).
EDIT: Took a minute to look it up, but here is what Woods said about Kearsley vs ISU: He jumped right in,” said… T.J. Woods, adding that Kearsley only had ONE missed assignment against Idaho State.
I’m hoping some of the looks we saw from Collins the last 2 weeks, as a wildcat running threat, was just to set up future plays where he will be defended as a runner, leaving some receiving options wide open. Might be a good week to bring that type of play out. Hopefully he can make the throw
Boise State is always good for 1-2 trick plays a game, so we might as well throw some of our own at them
WILD BEAVER
The best kind^^^
I will be trying to pay more attention this game than the past few seasons when going to watch games in the stadium. Tailgating is fun, but the game will be a good game and I’m all for watching it.
Something else I’m wondering about is: In order for the Beavs to have a running game will they have to go with 2 tight ends? Does the kind of offense the OCs want to run allow for 2 tight ends? With Togiai out who would the two TEs be?
Elu, clearly.
This old tribune article specifically states that PK is paying towards Casey’s salary annually. And source apparently came from within the OSU AD. Not saying it’s correct, but this is partially why the rumor has been accepted as fact by many.
http://portlandtribune.com/component/content/article?id=99900
“A source inside the OSU athletic department has confirmed the rumor that’s been raging since last week – Knight, Super Duck, as he’s called around Eugene – played a big role in keeping Casey in Corvallis.
Casey’s base pay at OSU has nearly doubled, and Knight, it is now known, is going to pay a sizable chunk of that raise, every single year Casey is coaching at Oregon State. And Knight stepped up to do it without being asked. He volunteered.”
Writen by Dwight Jaynes……. that’s all I need to know. He’s the guy that said Thomas Tyner (sp) decommited from the ducks because he wanted illegal perks for his recruitment. I’m sure one of his “inside sources” told him that too. He’s one of the biggest dirt bags in sports journalism.
He’s awful.
He was a major Riley kiss ass too.
Where did he say that about Tyner? I’d never heard that before
I tried to find it but it’s not on comcast sports website anymore. There are mentions of it on duck fan sites.
I wonder if we could somehow run this up the flagpole and get an official answer from the athletic department?

So, orange jelmets, black jerseys, black pants tomorrow. Have they done that before?
Wuss a jelmet mang?
I was looking over boise state’s roster and we definitely have the size advantage. The question is can we use it to our advantage and run it down their throats? Also noticed they have lots of tight ends which which are pretty big that they probably use to create mismatches. Overall i think we can be competitive in this game if dg is accurate and hits his deep ball and the lines play well.
Hmm the preseason articles said the beavs were much stronger this year. So size shouldn’t matter that much right since all of the oline can squat 500 pounds.

Easy there, big fella. You’re working with the JV team!
Thanks!

Well, the F*cks finally stole our second color…
Put it in the twitter feed earlier but worth mentioning here, OSU is getting an Official Visit from a 4* JUCO DT Craig Evans. Ga recruited him at wisconsin but i think grades were an issue. He endwd up at Michigan State and played for the team that beat Oregon last season. Left that team for JUCO Arizona Western this year. I think he would be a 3 to play 3 guy if he came here. Pretty nice surprise visitor.

Former Sun Prairie star, #Badgers commit, and Michigan State DT Craig Evans will take an official visit to Oregon State this weekend.
Now if the staff can find one or two JC OL types.

College football: Former Sun Prairie standout Craig Evans leaves Michigan State
http://host.madison.com/wsj/sports/college/football/college-football-former-sun-prairie-standout-craig-evans-leaves-michigan/article_d80930ec-f3da-5971-a943-23ee4daadaea.html
Michigan State sophomore defensive lineman Craig Evans, a former Sun Prairie athlete, left the football team for personal reasons, Spartans coach Mark Dantonio said in a release Monday.
Evans was suspended during spring drills in 2015.
After redshirting in 2014, Evans had 21 tackles, 3 1/2 for loss and a sack in 14 games last season. He was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team by BTN.com and ESPN.com.
At 6-foot-2, 307 pounds, Evans was not projected to start for the Spartans this season.
Evans originally committed to play for the University of Wisconsin but later decided to attend Michigan State.
Caught Tumwater Dave on the JoeBeav show today. He blasted Schnell and Goe for “laying in the weeds” waiting for a chance to remind everyone that OSU would never attract a coach as good as MR. Noted Schnell’s comment on the “loss” of Stansbury and Goe’s pattern of downplaying the weakness of the roster MR left behind.
Almost provoked a meltdown by Parker when he opined that, in reality, MR left Corvallis THREE times (once when he failed to play for the Beavs after high school).
I’m acquiring a liking for Tumwater Dave.
He was epic on the Nebraska call-in show after Biley was hired. Too funny.
Riley wasn’t good enough to play at OSU. He asked to walk on at Bama and was given the opportunity because his uncle was head baseball coach at Bama. So ignorant comment from mariner dave.

-Book it!!
Cool, I’ll book it! Right after I hit on this 19 I have at my blackjack table
Utah looks very beatable for the beavs!
I may change that.
What do you think of the Utah Under Armour uniforms? The jerseys themselves look great, but those helmet designs are atrocious.
I loved the airbrushed look of the helmet. Didn’t like the colors. I thought it would’ve popped better in Red.

USC needs to fire their coach tonight. Don’t let him on the bus.
Seriously, this has to be their worst coach in 75 years. He gone.
No keep him, recruits take notice go elsewhere like OSU.
It might not be a coincidence that local LB Daniel Green from Madison HS, the USC commit, is visiting Corvallis tomorrow.
Is Nemec trying to persuade commit David Morrison to go else where?
He’s a tool if he doesn’t think OSU is on the climb. Couple more years this program is gonna be HOT and Morris can be right in the midst of it.
Well that didn’t go as expected. I bet the USC brass are kicking themselves for not hiring Orgeron.
I never understand it. Low gamer IQ. If your team is down and no time remains, you can never be tackled with the ball in your hand. Pitch that thing. Rugby time. Run that thing in and if your hit you’ll be down soon, so pitch it pitch it pitch it. USC #73 had no game IQ
Not sure why you are getting down voted? A final play like that should either end in a TD ,fumble to the other team or the ball going out of bounds on a bad pitch out.. If you get tackled your not doing your job, but it’s hard to think like that when you are actually in the midst of the play.
Yeah, with 8 seconds on the clock and one time out, they probably figured to get in two plays. But I also believe this is a coaching flaw and basic game intelligence issue. Thanks for seeing it clearly.
As a Boiler alum, I’m loving the picks for them to win. It’s refreshing since everyone Boiler I know is wondering if the coach will get fired mid-season. To make this Beav related, Purdue just picked up Georgia Tech’s AD. Also Beav related, former PU QB Austin Appleby will fill in for the injured Luke Del Rio at Florida.
Beavs beat Boise 28-20
Gonna be sitting (maybe standing as well) in the terrace tomorrow via SQUAD. Also getting to be part of the pregame national anthem and hold the flag. A true honor. I will stand proud!
As promised, a new thread for today’s game will go up in a couple hours.
Meanwhile, back to the departure of Stansbury. Canzano just up with his guesses, favors Scott Barnes. His connections to GA seem to be a big factor.
QUESTION: Would a pick which seems influenced by GA somehow alienate other coaches and existing staff in the AD??

Found the following excerpt in Scott Barnes’ bio on the Pittsburgh website.
http://www.pittsburghpanthers.com/genrel/scott_barnes_976219.html
“…Barnes not only built significant momentum for Utah State Athletics but did so in a fiscally prudent way. USU was lauded as the most economically efficient athletic department in the nation in 2009 following a study done by Texas A&M’s Laboratory for the Study of Intercollegiate Athletics. In four subsequent studies, Utah State finished in the top 20 each year, including three times in the top six….”
Being fiscally prudent would seem to be of interest to the OSU administration since the school doesn’t appear to have a lot of alumni who are high rollers.
Which led me to wonder about the A&M study so I did some digging and came up with this..
http://www.mlive.com/eagles/index.ssf/2016/09/emu_athletics_recognized_for_m.html
I was a bit surprised, no make that shocked, to see which school was rated 3rd. Fiscally prudent? Uhhhh.
They’re third because they don’t account for any subsidies. They’re not alone in the sketchy world of accounting magic. They just worked out secret deals with the admin to screw the academic side so they could pretend to have an image of self-sufficiency.
You’re fiscally prudent when someone else pays your bills (nike).
You’re fiscally prudent when someone else pays your bills (students and taxpayers).

I’ll let it go since Purdue came back, and I was late this week. I think normally I should disallow that game and only rate the other five picks. That will probably happen on some Thursday games.

Sorry, was busy all day yesterday and this morning with work.
Do what’s fair, though…
Georgia losing 38-0. They are extremely rarely even deserving of a Top 25 ranking yet they start each year ranked between #5 and #8 just so SEC teams get max wins over Top 10-15 and Top 25 teams. Biggest joke in college football. Stanford would destroy them. Washington would win comfortably and even a deteriorating Oregon team under Helfrich beats them.
They are ranked 12 now but should be around 35-38. Fricking joke.
Bob Clifford, former senior assoc AD at OSU, now AD at New Mexico Hilands
is rumored to come back for the job too.
