I’ve said before, this teams seems to enjoy the fight of getting better, and I think they’ll play hard and compete in stretches today. The secondary will be motivated for the challenge. Time for Decoud to get more notice…
What is the uniform combo today? Orange/White/Orange?
Improved in what way? He’s better than he was last year. But he was better than he was last year the year before that. He’s about as good this year as he was his soph year, probably because he’s allowed to run again this year… and because he has yet to play a real D.
Best thing about the puppies going 0-12 is that not even NCAA penalties can take that season away from them. It’s the untouchable, perfect season that shall live forever in our minds and hearts :)
But someone above said he looks like a deer in headlights…how?
It’s the thing where people want him to fail and are making things up so should be called out.
That was actually a great 4th down play call. WA just defended it perfectly and Lucas should have tried to split the defenders instead of running into them.
Only Washington can stop Washington today. Game over…. Hope we don’t get anymore injuries today. McM is looking alright so far. More Cook at rb anyone?
I’m pretty sure one of the reasons McMaryion is lower on the depth chart is his complete lack of running instincts. It’s funny because he’s just more of a true pocket guy, and that’s actually a detriment in this offense where the threat of the QB run is critical.
People are way too hard on him though. He really can’t do worse than Garretson or Blount have. We’ve basically had the worst QB play in FBS.
Yeah he delivers the ball well but since you can’t see the rest of the field I’m curious if he is missing other players who may be own and not going to get blasted by a defender
Telecaster summed up Bolden perfectly “Gotta use your hands”…been saying that for years. He always wants to catch with the body, and it just bounces right off.
You say you’re serious, then you babble nonsensically.
You sound like one of those “image is everything” or “just do it” morons who have set the real world back a couple generations with a duplicity equal to saying foil is plate steel.
When you take another look at our schedule, it’s pretty clear that the middle slate is brutal. Check it out with current conf record:
Boise St (undefeated)
@Colo (4-1)
Cal (2-2)
Utah (4-1)
@WA (4-0)
WaSt (3-0)
But the home stretch lightens up considerably:
@STAN (2-2)
@UCLA (1-4)
AZ (0-4)
OR (0-4)
Could still end up a respectable season if the team stays engaged and McM makes some incremental improvement. Next week might be another rough one, though.
From the are you fucking kidding me file.
My Golden Rodents had five players miss our game today because
THEY HAD A RESTRAINING ORDER filed by some women with a gameday job in the stadium.
So they were not allowed into the stadium. Can you fucking believe that!
Is it me or is Seth less explosive this year?
Seems slower and hasn’t really broken anything. Even on that keeper he couldn’t get a few yards for the 1st.
I don’t know if he’s lost a step or he is just inexperienced at WR, he has not gotten much separation on any of his routes either. I think he loses interest if he’s not used a lot.
You guys seriously think Baldwin or Harsin would have their corners beat by 15 yards??? This is some seriously sh*tty football. They ran well then tried passing near the goal line. Run the damn ball McGiven.
I think the Beavs are going to be pretty good next year on D, very good the following year.
Not sure about McM b/c the Huskies took this game over right away. I’ll want to see 2 more games from him vs lesser opponents. I feel the Beavs can win 4 games this year (arizona and oregon). McM throws a better ball than anyone, but his average is very low per attempt and no TDs…a lot of that is the Huskies. They’re on everything.
McM hasn’t looked very accurate and his body language is the sulkiest I’ve ever seen from a QB. I know they’re getting blown out, but he looks like a 7 year old who didn’t get his way.
That said, the pass protection has been bad and he’s done a pretty good job of not making mistakes by forcing things.
McM definite issues with the clock management and seems to lock onto receivers, that’s not helping. Its one game, against a good d. Like to see if he makes improvement precisely because he does throw the best ball out of a bad lot
I’ve seen enough to know the Huskies are going to get destroyed once they face a good team. I kinda want them to run the table, so I can see their awful fans squirm when Alabama hangs 50 on them.
Mcm has terrible body language. I missed the 1st half today, but what I’m seeing right now is too much head hanging after a bad play, rather than getting ready for the next play. Needs to put on the big boy pants.
You really don’t see him hanging his head after he makes a poor throw? He’s done it multiple times. It would be nice to see better body language if only to convey more confidence.
I should note that I like Mcm and want to see him thrive so I’m not pointing it out to prove he’s not the best option at QB.
Mcm has terrible body language. I missed the 1st half today, but what I’m seeing right now is too much head hanging after a bad play, rather than getting ready for the next play. Needs to put on the big boy pants.
Nice to see some completions downfield though. Those zone read plays arent fooling anybody today, but good time to practice them in a live game environment
I don’t see that at all. Body language is fine. Not super confident but looks in command at least.
I see a work in progress. With another full week of practice he should improve and learn. He’s a good passer but forced several balls, and they bit him. Schedule gets easy now and I think he’ll look better. He can win 2 games (Arizona/Oregon) for sure. Maybe more.
Stanford is looking very beatable too. Hell, Utah should have been a win. This team is showing improvement. They just haven’t quite had things click, but the level of effort is better this year than the past several.
Ucla is beatable as well. I think all the games left are winnable. Not saying they win all of them, but if the team is healthy they should be in all those games.
To be honest, all the games look at least winnable after this one.
After seeing what Colorado did, Stanford certainly looks beatable. Utes just hung 52 on UCLA, so they look vulnerable as well, especially if we get Nall back. We did pretty great against the Bear Raid, so I think stopping the Air Raid is certainly within the realm of possibility, especially since we’ll be at home. Arizona and Oregon are both looking VERY down, and we get them at home, so I agree with you that we can win those for sure.
Or maybe I’m drinking the Beaver-aid, and we’ll go 0-5 to close out the season.
I don’t feel good about WaSt next week but after that the schedule really clears up. Think we should have a good shot vs Stan, ucla, az, and or.
Nall is really our X factor on O. We just have to block well enough to open holes and let him build some speed. He won’t break many tackles in the backfield.
Interesting stat: we had our highest yards per completion number of the year, even higher than Idaho St. McM was actually able to hit some deep throws, which is an improvement in itself.
So the question is, are we better off with a deep threat and no QB running game, or a running threat at QB and no deep threat?
McMaryion looked good from what I saw. Another week of practice (and some coaching on making sure he doesn’t just laser in on his first option WR), and I think we could beat Washington State.
Just need Nall and the other banged-up guys to heal up. Thank goodness we didn’t play them this game.
Yes, he’s not a good RB, too indecisive about hitting holes. And doesn’t catch well unless it’s behind the line of scrimmage and lossing yards is what your going for.
Kickoffs were planned. They were trying to keep it away from the Washington returner. The thing is half the time they fair catch or if they run it they aren’t getting it to the 30 most of the time. I think they are hoping for a muff from one of the up backs, for the chance of a turnover. The rest of the kicking……..yeah not great.
It was disappointing to see a first half blowout, but not unexpected. What I like is that the Beavs can run the ball. They almost averaged 6 yards a carry against the vaunted Huskies D with the third string RB going for over 100 yards.. Injuries are decimating this team, yet they did not fold. It feels like it’s heading in the right direction.
I don’t see the pirate’s demeanor/personality going over too well in Baton Rouge. Not only that I’m sure there’s plenty more “fat little girlfriends” in the south.
If this team can find a QB they could make a large jump next year. That is a big if.
I wouldn’t be shocked by an upset vs. WSU and if they do 4 more wins this season is improbable but possible but realistically think they have 2 more wins in them this year.
Find your quality QB and the JUCO talent they seem to be going after and 6 wins should be the floor next year. Not sure where that QB comes from though.
I predicted 4 wins for the entire season. Still on track for that goal of mine. I think an upset is possible against WSU next week. Getting some guys back from injury would be helpful too.
Third-string quarterback Marcus McMaryion did not have a deer-in-the-headlights performance
Garretson wasn’t setting the world on fire before his injury, and what was supposed to be an upgraded passing game never materialized in his six games.
McMaryion was 12 of 26 for 148 yards and two interceptions in his second career start Saturday, but he showed poise in the pocket against the Pac-12’s top scoring defense.
And this from Andersen, “if people don’t recognize that progress is being made, “then I think you’ve kind of got some blinders on.””
I think MM is likely the best of the current options (including the 2 commits) but I’d hope they’d be open to adding more competition preferably a grad transfer and at least 1 preferred walk on.
I guessed the score exactly, so I’m thinking of selling the houses and buying lotto tickets. Will keep you all posted for next week’s score, I may have something going…..
Naw, your “thorough analysis and experienced football mind” led to correctly predicting the outcome. No guessing involved.
Now the lotto?……..Good Luck there!
I have personally witnessed every UW/OSU football game since 1998, which I offer to credential what I’m about to say: that was the most competitive performance by a Beav squad against the Dawgs since 2012 (the game at the Seahawks stadium). The 2013 debacle in Reser was the absolute low-point (when Riley was still the coach, by the way). Was the game ever in doubt? No. Major breakdowns in the defensive backfield, nominally our strongest unit? Yes. But I don’t think the Beavs have had as good a run game since Quiz left, and, as Jim Wilson likes to say, that’s something we can build on
Being at the game, too, it does need to be mentioned that no doubt Jonathan Smith/Chris Peterson called off the dawgs very early which skews the stats and provides some false sense of competitiveness.
they pulled back a bit, but then Peterson called them off even earlier a year ago in Corvallis. Like before the first half was even over. But to my point: in 2013, Sarkisian was running his THIRD string against the Beavs and they were still blowing Riley’s squad away. That game was the least competitive, most lackluster performance in the last decade and a half. No Andersen team would fail to even compete like that squad did that night.
Riley hadn’t had a team play with the kind of effort we’re seeing since 2009. And even that team gave up and went soft before the season ended. I would say the only Riley team that could truly match this effort over a season was the 2006 team after Al sat Riley down and told him to get his shit together.
If they keep playing like this, I wouldn’t say a bowl game was out of the question.
Of course, a part of that calculation is understanding that there will be some 5-7 teams going to bowls. But GA has considerably raised the academic standing of this team, so we may have a shot. Has anyone looked at the metric the NCAA uses for that? Is it a readily found page?
We should start looking closely at drops by the wide receivers also. It appears that McM can get them the ball. Three drops yesterday? 15/26 stats look better. WR’s overall continue to be a huge disappointment. Catching the easy ones should be a given at this level of football and for some reason it’s not with this receiving corps.
there have been big drops all year. I mean I’m watching the Cal game again to make me feel better and there were big drops in that game also…maybe there are big drops all the time and it is just me?
I’m starting to swing towards coaching. I think there were at least 3 drops from guys trying to trap balls against theIran bodys. One was Bolden on that 3rd and long that would have been a first down, another was Lucas on the same type of situation. And I believe vilamin over the middle for a decent gain, possibly a first down. There may have been more. It’s getting rediculos at this point.
We’ve been saying this. But we’ve also heard all sorts of weird excuses for that unit about inconsistent ball placement or flight… or some other voodoo thingy about them not being recruited by GA or something.
It’s pretty simple. If you can’t catch the ball when it hits you in the hands, you suck for a play. If you suck for multiple plays, it’s you.
Curious on the recruiting front, Rivals currently has us at 17 commits and we know we are still pursuing several JUCO pieces along with some higher rated high school guys. Anyone know how many they can sign? Do they have space to count backwards? Scholarships available assuming no one leaves?
I’ve been trying to figure it out but its hard to find exactly who is and who is not on scholarship.
My count is 80-82, which is as accurate as I think you can get. 15 scholarship seniors based on my numbers. Normal attrition would be around 5-10 lost for retirement or other reasons. I predict they will max out 25 commitments this class.
Going back to yesterday, was anyone else screaming to kick the FG on the 1st quarter drive? I know they were behind 14-0 but it was 4th and 2 and sometimes just getting that 0 off the scoreboard is a big step.
Felt like they gave up all the momentum they gained on that drive in that 1 play and had they taken the 3 points they still wouldn’t have won but I think they could have kept the game closer.
Main point, 1st quarter of the game and you have 0 points, take the damn points
If you’ve been paying attention lately, a 40 yd FG with Owens isn’t a gimmie. Kick the FG? miss or make. Go for it on 4th down? Miss or make. 50/50. It was a good play call on 4th down
And just looked, it was actually a 4th and 3 because they lost yardage on 3rd down.
He is 4/6 from 40-49 yards. 1 miss was a 45 yard kick, the other was a a 48 yard attempt, 2 of his other misses were from over 50 yards. So this year has only missed 1 kick from 40 yards and in. So I don’t think your claim that it was 50/50 holds water here.
The team is 2/9 (1/7 when the decision to go for it was made) on 4th down plays in 2016 so its less than 50/50 based on history.
In addition using 3rd down data (bigger sample size) for all of college football, you are likely to get 3 yards on 3rd down about 52% of the time. Combine that with the 1 for 7 on 4th down overall and I have a difficult time calling that 4th and 3 a 50/50 proposition.
The snapping and holding have been equally poor, I think the decision should have been go for it there. Punch it in there and you feel real good. Giving them the ball deep in their territory is not bad.
I think we should put the kicking game on the shelf when its three yards or less.
I guess some of you don’t believe in momentum and emotion during a game.
Kicking a FG (which was far better than 50/50 there) keeps your energy from the long drive, getting stopped on 4th not only wipe out your energy but gives it to UW.
To each their own but I was screaming at the TV and will be in the same situation next time. Sometimes a FG attempt is a win. It was a win in that situation.
you can throw out all the statistical mumbo jumbo you want. You either make it or you don’t. That’s 50/50. In this particular case it was a good play call and the Husky player made a good open field tackle. They executed, OSU didn’t. Had it been 4th and 5+ from that same point on the field I might agree with you.
That said, momentum? Against Washington? Oregon St wasn’t winning that game whether they got 0, 3 or 7 on that drive. The talent differential between the two teams was glaringly obvious. At damn near every position. Beavs did a few good things yesterday. The punt block and Bolden’s fly sweep TD come to mind. But be honest with yourself. They were lucky to only lose by 24. UW could’ve ran it up if they so chose to do.
Sorry but what you are saying is nonsense. Of course statistics matter and it was NOT 50/50 no matter how much you want to claim it was. That is just a ridiculous claim based on NOTHING. Making a 40 yard FG is NOT a 50/50 play; its more like a 70/30 play. Getting a 4th and 3 is a 50/50 play but actually getting the 4th and 3 and turning that into a TD is less than a 50/50 play.
Of course the stats matter, that is how you should be making your decisions.
I understand OSU wasn’t going to win yesterday, that doesn’t suddenly turn a poor game management decision into a good one.
You say it was a good call, fine, you are entitled to that opinion but don’t claim nonsense stats (make it/don’t make it is NOT 50/50) to back up your position.
Based on your logic I guess they should go for 2 every time. I mean either they make it or they don’t (50/50) which is just like a PAT since either they make it or they don’t (50/50).
That is the way your ‘make it or they don’t’ logic sounds.
Are there times to go for it? Of course, yesterday on 4th and 3 after losing a yard on 3rd and 2 at the end of a long drive in a game you have no points in yet was not one of them. It simply wasn’t.
What’s non nonsensical about it? I understand statistics. There’s a higher “probability” of making 4th and 3 then making 4th and 5. But you still either execute and make it or you don’t. Pretty cut and dried there. I guess you’ve also not heard GA talk about being aggressive. There’s being aggressive (going for it on 4th and 3 at your opponents 23 yard line), then there’s being idiotic (see BYU’s fake punt on 4th and 19 from their own 5 yard line). Either way I was fine with going for it and the play call. You weren’t. You’re in the minority here. That’s less than 50%.
Speaking of the ridiculous, your (among others) continued bitching about GA, this staff and the play calling. We get it dude. You’d have preferred Beau Baldwin. So says the HS JV assistant football coach. Or whatever. Andersen is the head coach. And will be for awhile. And he’s an upgrade over Simple Jack. They’re kind of hamstrung due to the roster they inherited. Recruiting better players isn’t a 1 year turnaround. Those players they did recruit have been in the system for just over a year at most? Get over it.
Well it’s true they either make it or they don’t, which is 50/50, but only without nuances/variables that totally change the odds.
It’s like a lottery: the odds of winning are 50/50, you win or lose, but the probability of actually winning are 1 in millions because of the various factors involved to win (e.g. specific numbers in a specific order, etc).
You guys should and do know this so stop arguing about it.
Whether the call was a good one or not should be judged on many factors, the most obvious being that FGs were not going to win this game.
I am allowed to criticize a play call if I so choose.
I get it, you want to suck Andersen’s dick and he can apparently do no wrong in your eyes. He is perfect and will get OSU to the promise land.
See I can be an asshole about it too.
FYI, I haven’t criticized Andersen in weeks, I criticized 1 decision. That does not equal criticizing everything about the coach you simple minded fool.
“I get it, you want to suck Andersen’s dick and he can apparently do no wrong in your eyes. He is perfect and will get OSU to the promise land.”
I don’t suck dick. I leave that to your mom (see I can be a dick too!). Is GA and this staff perfect? Nope. But here’s some numbers your pea brain can probably understand. I’ll take GA’s opinion and decisions over yours. 100% of the time. Right or wrong. That’s why he’s the head coach and well, you aren’t. No dick sucking. I’m just happy to have a coach moving a program in the right direction instead of being stagnant. You don’t see it. That’s a YOU problem.
“FYI, I haven’t criticized Andersen in weeks, I criticized 1 decision. That does not equal criticizing everything about the coach you simple minded fool.”
Don’t give a fuck. You’ve said enough and been enough of a “know it all pompous ass” over this coaching staff. You can have an opinion. But stick to JV high school FB. Again, I’ll take a P5 college football coach’s opinion and decisions over yours 100% of the time.
You want to talk probabilities and statistics? Let’s examine a few more you left out. It’s still 11 on 11 out there and then there’s that funny oblong shaped ball too. A 4th and 3 snap to a holder that is 7 yards behind snap has a statistically higher rate of being a bad snap than a 4th and 3 to a QB that is 5 yards behind the snap. Then there’s also the hold itself. Since there is no hold to a kicker going for it on 4th and 3 then the probability of there being a bad hold is ZERO.
But wait, here’s an argument IN YOUR FAVOR! Since there’s no pitch to a running back on a FG attempt on 4th and 3, it is statistically a higher probability there won’t be a fumble to the running back on a 4th and 3 FG attempt.
Then there’s weather!
I get it. The dynamics of getting to the kick aren’t 50/50. The dynamics of getting to successfully converting a 4th and 3 aren’t 50/50. But making the kick or getting past the first down marker is still 50/50.
Then you mention momentum. Well, if you make the FG you are still down 2 scores. 14-3 = 11.
11 = 1 touchdown, 2 point conversion and a FG. 6 + 2 + 3
Miss it, you’re still down 2 scores. It was still in the first quarter. Hopefully you can do the math on that one.
Angry is also right on this one. FG’s weren’t going to win this game. OSU had NOT stopped UW on their first two drives. Being aggressive on the road against the 5th ranked team in the nation and having nothing to lose is different than being idiotic. I guess that’s another concept you fail to understand.
That “no way FGs were beating Washington” logic may be sound in this 1 case but it hurts your cause to think that way. You have to be able to make decisions based on current data.
It reminds me of when Riley went for 2 vs. Utah back in 2008 in the 2nd quarter because they were down 5 then did it again in the 3rd quarter because they were up 1. You could easily argue it was simply being aggressive in order to keep up with Utah but at the end of the day those 2 points they didn’t get were the difference between likely winning and losing the game.
At certain points in the game (any game) getting points has value. Yes, OSU wasn’t gonna beat UW with FGs (or TDs for that matter) but you can make it 14-3 and you are a freak play from 14-10 and you never know after that and having tons of momentum. The Beavs would only win yesterday if UW has an off day and taking 3 there puts you in better position to take advantage of such a thing.
Anyway, my bigger gripe isn’t that some think it was smart to go for it there but whiskey’s nonsense about it being 50/50 and how no one should be critical of Andersen or his decisions. That is just bullshit.
I can see both sides. It would have been a morale booster to not have a goose egg on the board going into the half. But we will not win that game if we don’t prove that we can push the ball two yards when we need to do so. And TDs will beat UW at that point, while a FG is basically conceding.
So yes, a FG is a better play if you want to lose 35-17. The outcome is what it is. But a first down at that point gives us some of that emotion that I think you overvalue with the FG and erasing the 0. We were still in it at that point, and that decision also showed the players we were going to keep punching.
I value the (almost) guaranteed points there more than the lower possibility of getting 7.
I don’t think a FG is conceding though. I think it shows your defense that you trust that they can get a stop or 2. At the end of the day I think getting no points after a really nice drive was just too big of a risk in that situation.
Had they just gotten a turnover or had only driven the ball 20 yards prior to the 4th down I’d probably be more inclined to agree with the risk of going for it there but to have a 11 play 53 yard drive end in a thud just kills you emotionally in my view.
I’ll also just say that I philosophically believe you accumulate points in the 1st half and see where that leaves you at halftime.
This doesn’t mean you never go for a 4th down in the first half but not on a 4th and 3 when you have a very probable 3 points waiting for you. Just get some points at that point.
Somebody pointed out that OSU averaged about 6 YPC against UW’s run defense, good point.
I have been a fan of Cook’s since some of his fall camp highlights, seemed like he consistently ran hard.
With Nall, Pierce, and Cook, we are seeing the “three deep at RB” that Andersen said he wanted, and tough running by all three. Demonstrable progress.
The other signs of progress are on the Oline, the DB play, and there are some scattered good plays by the LBs. I expect when the DL play improves the LBs will look better as beneficiaries of that play.
At the beginning of the year, Cook was hitting the hole with his head down and getting stopped. Part of that was the O-line. But Nall and Pierce weren’t having the same issues. Now he’s almost stopping in the hole then finding his cut and moving downhill.
Lucas is not yet doing this. He’s full throttle when he gets the ball, and he ends up past the open cut when it appears, leaving him running east-west and into the boundary. Or he’s still runing into the back of his O-line when running inside.
Andersen either beats Leach & the Cougs on Saturday or I’m officially on the Brian Harsin/Beau Baldwin bandwagon. Not the only person either. 32K only at the last game and one before was not much more than 35K. This train needs some steam soon. Engineer Andersen needs to show the faithful a W now before the engine stalls out.
Fuck your Duck attitude right to hell and back so we can fuck it again. Your plastic grellow douchiness is oozing all over this blog. You need a sanitary napkin to sop up that gunk between your ears.
If you would try humor, I’d be down with that. It would still be highly stupid, since it’s you. But it might be stupid funny.
Go Beavs
I’ve said before, this teams seems to enjoy the fight of getting better, and I think they’ll play hard and compete in stretches today. The secondary will be motivated for the challenge. Time for Decoud to get more notice…
What is the uniform combo today? Orange/White/Orange?
Nall and Pierce both out today.
What’s up with Pierce? That’s too bad.
Lots of work for Cook, Lucas…probably several carries each for Bolden and Collins.
Heard it was his shoulder. He’ll definitely be missed
Yikes. Bad news.
Wow colorado/stanford was a barn burner. Stanford might be another case study on not developing QBs.
Tommy Armstrong has improved a lot as a passer under Riley/Langs, if we’re being honest.
I’d love to have that guy at QB….
Riley for all his faults knew QBs.
I don’t think you can argue that Riley can’t develop QB’s. He just doesn’t have the personality of a dominant head coach.
Improved in what way? He’s better than he was last year. But he was better than he was last year the year before that. He’s about as good this year as he was his soph year, probably because he’s allowed to run again this year… and because he has yet to play a real D.
Anyone have a stream link? Streamendous not currently working.
Time’s up
0-12
Best thing about the puppies going 0-12 is that not even NCAA penalties can take that season away from them. It’s the untouchable, perfect season that shall live forever in our minds and hearts :)
All of my kodi streams have water polo.
Anyone found a valid stream?
No link?
The route is on.. our defense is already so lost
Swiss cheese.
They actually looked decent minus the two blown coverages.
Very true. Need to figure that out quickly
Two blown coverages in five plays.
Anyone else see their left tackle take our DE to the ground on the TD?
Yep. That was blatant.
Yeah how was that missed? And the long pass against decoud was due to a pick play, which happens all the time but not like he was Swiss cheese
Nothing pisses me off more than not being able to get a fucking play off in time. Seriously, how fucking hard is it?
McM has deer in the headlights look right now
Golly, it’s a lot tougher than people think, I tell ya.
I’d been wishing for an OSU flea flicker…
They ran one early in the year, it was garbage to Garretson that got bailed out by a PI call.
I love Decoud and think he is a legit corner, but he’s getting TOASTED by Ross right now
Zero heart and composure so far on offense, a smidgen on defense
On a brighter note, Tinkle just landed another 4* for hoops in C Jack Wilson.
Nice stop by Bright…hadn’t seen that from Banker LBs in years. They almost got Browning on that keeper…
No surprises so far, right?
Hope everyone bought extra booze to get through this one.
McM looks calm to me. Not sure where the deer in headlight thing came from.
OL is just getting manhandled.
He’s looking good right now, keep them chains movin
But someone above said he looks like a deer in headlights…how?
It’s the thing where people want him to fail and are making things up so should be called out.
TO was called by coaches, not by McM. So, no sign of panic IMHO.
Kinda like your thing with Collins? Or your thing with Garretson not being smart?
What think? I was right about Seth, which is why he was moved.
Garretson isn’t smart.
thing*
Your BFF MCMaryion is soooo smart he threw the ball after he was 5 feet passed the kind of scrimmage last week.
Nice movement and completion for the first….good job on the screen. More completions than Garretson last week already.
They’re trying the outside short throws, I’d like to see Collins maybe do and an up and throw it quickly after the second move.
WTF is up with the play calling???
Timeouts are a crutch, anyway
Damn, looked like McM coudl have run up the middle on that 3 and 2
That was actually a great 4th down play call. WA just defended it perfectly and Lucas should have tried to split the defenders instead of running into them.
I was ok with the play call on that 4th down but Jesus do our receivers seem to lose one on one battles every time or is it just me?
Well, if you’re going to jump offsides, you might as well get a shot in.
Xavier Crawford is really good, imo
McMaryion is looking pretty good. More accurate than Garrettson and Blount for sure, and makes good decisions for the most part.
Only problem is that Washington’s defense is just too good.
I had no idea Pierce was out. Pierce and Nall both out is brutal. Still, we should be seeing more Cook.
Cook had a good run last series.
OSU has 2nd and 10. Cook runs for 8 yards. They take him out and run 3 cutsie (1 didn’t count) plays and turn the ball over on downs.
FUCKED UP PLAY CALLING IMO.
They seem unwilling to trust the run game. Sounds like a certain coach we know from a few years back…
Only Washington can stop Washington today. Game over…. Hope we don’t get anymore injuries today. McM is looking alright so far. More Cook at rb anyone?
8 yards again for Cook!
Get some
0-12
Some what?
Some appropriation?
No PI WTF
And the db can’t understand why Hernandez was looking for a flag
Go clock go!
That Washington CB facemasked Hernandez right in front of the ref and no PI. I think the refs just want the clock to run out, too.
I know there is more too it that this, but the refs have missed several big calls today…
I think the Refs bet the Funkies to beat the spread today.
So we tackle the running back two yards from the line of scrimmage and it’s still 3rd and ten?? Refs just want the game over…
Crawford should have made an interception on that long ball.
You guys actually care about the game?
This is just a scouting game. See who can play. Mostly McM, but some other guys, too (hawkins, cook)
Marcus’s only problem is he stares down receivers. No progression only one guy is getting the ball.
Yeah he delivers the ball well but since you can’t see the rest of the field I’m curious if he is missing other players who may be own and not going to get blasted by a defender
Bolden with the drop…
Surprise surprise
Telecaster summed up Bolden perfectly “Gotta use your hands”…been saying that for years. He always wants to catch with the body, and it just bounces right off.
I’m going to follow the telecaster’s lead and gently weep.
Vic Bolden always dropping balls… embarrassing
Yo beeeeches. Nice grab by Bolden!

Jack, I forgot to add the x2 symbol on my score prediction for the sled dogs. Please adjust prediction accordingly.
We might not see the first string come out after the half.
You are talking about the Huskies, right? Because we don’t have first string.
I thought that was implied……….
Some good news. New basketball commit.

4 star 2018 Center. No 1 Center out west. MR.WILSON.
My alumni source was correct. Awesome!
Taller then Tinkle. Didn’t think that was possible.
7’1″ 240# big ol kid
Yeah… 240.
Jeepers!
Browning has a booger problem.
Didn’t appear to be a problem for him…maybe a subject of his conversation…
Tim Cook could become a fan favorite.
McM totally forced that one.
He’s like a big pinball crashing around inside. I like him he needs more runs.
He’s been of on my faves…wanted him to play last week to rest Nall…
M McM threw a beautiful long ball. Wrong team, however.
Well, I think I’ll watch baseball.
Serious question. Very unsure myself. Think GA is overrated. Might be time to give Beau Baldwin or Brian Harsin the keys to Corvallis.
No. And stop thumbing up your own post.
Tartan
I don’t understand.
You say you’re serious, then you babble nonsensically.
You sound like one of those “image is everything” or “just do it” morons who have set the real world back a couple generations with a duplicity equal to saying foil is plate steel.
When’s the first basketball game?
I haven’t received my tickets yet, anyone else?
Nope
When you take another look at our schedule, it’s pretty clear that the middle slate is brutal. Check it out with current conf record:
Boise St (undefeated)
@Colo (4-1)
Cal (2-2)
Utah (4-1)
@WA (4-0)
WaSt (3-0)
But the home stretch lightens up considerably:
@STAN (2-2)
@UCLA (1-4)
AZ (0-4)
OR (0-4)
Could still end up a respectable season if the team stays engaged and McM makes some incremental improvement. Next week might be another rough one, though.
Who would have thought Stanford and Oregon would be the easier part of the Pac-12 schedule?
From the are you fucking kidding me file.
My Golden Rodents had five players miss our game today because
THEY HAD A RESTRAINING ORDER filed by some women with a gameday job in the stadium.
So they were not allowed into the stadium. Can you fucking believe that!
On top of the sex tape scandal.
Can we get a restraining order against the Huskies for the 2nd half?
Go Cubs!
So Seth Collins decked Budda Baker? I missed that.
That was some nice running by cook. GA knows how to make halftime adjustments, that’s a nice positive over Riley.
Should have had Seth do the slash thing on third down.
Is it me or is Seth less explosive this year?
Seems slower and hasn’t really broken anything. Even on that keeper he couldn’t get a few yards for the 1st.
I expected Seth to be used more this season.
He ran twice and got stuff both times. Or did you forget 1st, 2nd and goal?
It happens on every team, at every level, at some point, so yeah I can say with certainty the air secondary has fucked up too at least once.
McM miss read on the zone read, shouldn’t have handed it off.
Your handle is offensive to reason and anglers.
If thought this was shitty football you didn’t watch the Ducks when they played the Huskie’s, numbnut.
Nice coverage.
Nice run Bolden! Run the damn football.
Maybe we should convert bolden to rb and Lucas to wr.
Huskies vs Alabama for National Championship. Tide Rolls.
No Ducks?
They’ll be self proclaimed national champions after playing in the intrasquad Liberace Bowl
That’s my assessment from this game.
Nall is the difference maker. When he’s back beavs can compete
BeavRecruitNews @BeavRecruiting
.@vbolden6era has the Beavers longest running, receiving & special teams play this year. Put him in at QB, he might get the longest pass too
I’m guessing he also has the most dropped passes and backwards runs
I’ve seen enough to know the Huskies are going to get destroyed once they face a good team. I kinda want them to run the table, so I can see their awful fans squirm when Alabama hangs 50 on them.
That’s my thought also.
Mcm has terrible body language. I missed the 1st half today, but what I’m seeing right now is too much head hanging after a bad play, rather than getting ready for the next play. Needs to put on the big boy pants.
I don’t see any of that.
Me either. Team has kept playing.
You really don’t see him hanging his head after he makes a poor throw? He’s done it multiple times. It would be nice to see better body language if only to convey more confidence.
I should note that I like Mcm and want to see him thrive so I’m not pointing it out to prove he’s not the best option at QB.
Mopey McMaryion
That was the best thrown deep ball of the year.
Pass before it wasn’t too shabby, either.
I’m not sure how Lucas dropped it since I could have caught that easily.
Then the pick………
Tim cook needs more carries even when Nall and Pierce get back.
THUNDER, Lightening, Thunder
Ehhh, was thinking of Lucas, who was supposed to fulfill a speed role..
Is this Cook’s last year?
Yup
Can get a Med redshirt.
Maybe more.
He has a real chance for that “first-game-to-second-game” improvement…continuity beyond that could be huge for him.
Yeah, I dont see last year’s blowout losses happening.
I think we’ll pick at least someone off before the CW.
I don’t feel good about WaSt next week but after that the schedule really clears up. Think we should have a good shot vs Stan, ucla, az, and or.
Nall is really our X factor on O. We just have to block well enough to open holes and let him build some speed. He won’t break many tackles in the backfield.
We need about 7 .gif’s of McM hanging his head
And that was a nice INT.
That INT was a fucking great catch.
Number 13 had a nice catch who is he???? Must be a redshirt Freshmen because I have not seen him all year.
Interesting stat: we had our highest yards per completion number of the year, even higher than Idaho St. McM was actually able to hit some deep throws, which is an improvement in itself.
So the question is, are we better off with a deep threat and no QB running game, or a running threat at QB and no deep threat?
Deep threat, as long as we have our RBs.
McMaryion looked good from what I saw. Another week of practice (and some coaching on making sure he doesn’t just laser in on his first option WR), and I think we could beat Washington State.
Just need Nall and the other banged-up guys to heal up. Thank goodness we didn’t play them this game.
Lucas is a major disappointment thus far.
He’s fast, but not much of a football player
He doesn’t even seem fast.
Yes, he’s not a good RB, too indecisive about hitting holes. And doesn’t catch well unless it’s behind the line of scrimmage and lossing yards is what your going for.
Al Davis would draft him.
That Joe Williams from utah, the RB who came out of retirement, had his signature day vs ucla 29 carries for 332 yards.
Does he lose his Social Security benefits?
Penn State blocks a FG for a TD to lead OSU
That win doesn’t wash away the stink of kiddie rape.
Then it’s a good thing the players, fans, and current coaches weren’t raping kiddies.
They still worship the enabler.
This.
The only thing that would? A shower……………..Wait, nevermind
So going to hell
Not to be lost in everything, is how bad the Kicking game has been the past three weeks.
Kickoffs were short and not placed well, Field Goals were again terrible. Punting sub-par not sure the avg but I would guess 40yds or less.
Nice Ohio State goes down. F them
Agreed.
PSU fans are delusional a-holes by and large. Yuk.
Buffs treated to In-N-Out after win:
http://www.espn.com/blog/pac12/post/_/id/105192/mike-macintyre-buys-buffs-in-n-out-after-stanford-win
Awe shucks. I could go for a double double animal style right now.
Watching WSU/ASU.
From the look of things, Leach will likely be getting offers from schools in warmer climates who need rebuilding.
Agree on that.
Yeah I see improvement.
If we had a QB I’d actually be optimistic this things turns next year.
Great day!
Would LSU take a chance on Leach? TigAir Raid offense with a built in defensive mindset.
Encouraging showing by the Beavs. They have a shot at each game left, with an emphasis on becoming a power running/play action offense for now.
Horowitz saw good things:
http://www.statesmanjournal.com/story/sports/2016/10/23/keep-osus-loss-no-5-washington-perspective/92641670/
I think MM is likely the best of the current options (including the 2 commits) but I’d hope they’d be open to adding more competition preferably a grad transfer and at least 1 preferred walk on.
I was at the game and his arm strength or lack thereof cost us several 1st downs.
His arm is Favre like compared to the other two guys.
Favre like? You mean he throws hordes of soul crushing interceptions? Romo-ing was started by Favre
Don’t pick on my boy Brett. I have finally granted him absolution for the Vikings transgression.
When you win the lottery, can I borrow a few bucks?
Husky animosity/hatred of Ducks vs Beavs measurable.. +29.
?
Yeah… I saw him pull the starters too… in the fourth quarter.
they pulled back a bit, but then Peterson called them off even earlier a year ago in Corvallis.
The drops make no sense. Lack of focus/anxiety problems, imo.
there have been big drops all year. I mean I’m watching the Cal game again to make me feel better and there were big drops in that game also…maybe there are big drops all the time and it is just me?
Regarding the Cal game, if Collins catches that easy slant play, there’s a good chance the Beavs run out the clock and all of the OT drama is avoided.
It’s getting rediculos at this point.
theIran? That’s a new auto correct. Their*
Hello?
We’ve been saying this. But we’ve also heard all sorts of weird excuses for that unit about inconsistent ball placement or flight… or some other voodoo thingy about them not being recruited by GA or something.
It’s pretty simple. If you can’t catch the ball when it hits you in the hands, you suck for a play. If you suck for multiple plays, it’s you.
We’re about four games past that.
Amen!
If you’ve been paying attention lately, a 40 yd FG with Owens isn’t a gimmie. Kick the FG? miss or make. Go for it on 4th down? Miss or make. 50/50. It was a good play call on 4th down
In your opinion. But for the sake of argument.
I stand by the opinion that you kick there.
The snapping and holding have been equally poor, I think the decision should have been go for it there. Punch it in there and you feel real good. Giving them the ball deep in their territory is not bad.
I think we should put the kicking game on the shelf when its three yards or less.
Okay, fair enough….I don’t understand that thought process at all and think it will cost the team games at some point but okay
It definitely wasn’t 50/50 though, that claim is just nonsense.
This is what is so ridiculous about you.
Whiskey,
I am allowed to criticize a play call if I so choose.
I’ll bet you know where iocane powder comes from too.
Nice princess bride reference.
11 = 1 touchdown, 2 point conversion and a FG. 6 + 2 + 3
It’s definitely not 50/50. If FG kickers only kicked at a 50% clip guys like you and I would be on NFL rosters.
That said, it was smart to go for it on 4th down. No way FGs were beating Washington.
angry,
That “no way FGs were beating Washington” logic may be sound in this 1 case but it hurts your cause to think that way.
And that is a fair argument jack.
I think this team this year needs to take chances for games like that. I would agree with you if it was next year or even next week.
Or he’s still runing into the back of his O-line when running inside.
can we get quizz back after his 1st half against the niners?
Harsin and baldwin. LOL.
You’ve gotta be kidding me. They had a bad start, but WSU is one of the top teams in the conference.
#2 in fact or tied for it at least.
You’re dumb.
