As mentioned in the prior thread, I’m a bit out of the loop with (a) The Beavs (b) college football (c) Ohio State. This for various reasons. Mostly because I moved, and it’s taken a while to settle in, and we have had some lifestyle changes that result in less time to devote to sports. Then there’s the fact I’m disenchanted with the Beavs (i.e. “The Riley Factor”). It’s just hard to care about any team that has Riley involved, or any team dumb enough to hire him at this point in his career. So, all that has lead to…well…not knowing a whole lot about this team.
From what I have pieced together, we have no depth on defense, a patchwork O-line, a Juco QB still trying to play in a P5 conference, and a HC who talks just like Riley. With that, we’re going to Ohio State. The line is 37. And I wonder if that’s 37 points or 37 body bags.
From the prior thread, some folks wrote their opinion on this game. Given that I know nothing, I’ll post the best excerpts.
Jonathan Smith will be the oldest head coach in next week’s game since he’s 2 months older than Ohio State interim coach Ryan Day. The Buckeyes lost 7 defensive starters from last year including 5 to the NFL. Their offense is supposed to be all-world but their QB is new, and he’s not a runner like Barrett was. If we had Togiai playing, if their game planning was out of sync from the coach situation and if they totally overlooked us like Stanford did against us last year, then I was hoping we could score a few TDs and make a game of it. We’ll need their QB to really lay an egg. If he’s on, they’ll probably score at will.
That seems somewhat realistic.
This opinion seems optimistic.
Almost time for Ohio State game week prep thread. Looking outwardly, visiting Ohio State right now, is about as good of a time as we could expect to visit Ohio State. Inwardly of course there are lots of question marks and areas to improve. But outwardly positives are, first game of the year, their coach is suspended, they are facing a new coached team with who really knows what for schemes, there will be more fans in the stands displeased with their coaching staff than we will show up with. Outwardly I don’t thunk we could’ve found a better time to visit an Urban Meyer Ohio State program. Ohio State has historically seen trouble with season openers, but with home-cooking they historically have been able to tread water, just well enough sometimes, to survive.
My opinion: there is some truth in all of this. It would be a great time to visit Ohio State if (a) we had a good team (b) the Urban situation was years ago and had a chance to negatively effect recruiting. But, neither is true. They’re probably loaded as always, and even an interim coach should be able to figure out this Beav roster. I mean, all those factors definitely give us a chance at using just 14 body bags, but a win? That would be the upset of the century for the Beavs.
I do like our WRs and RBs. Just not convinced the line will give the QB time to find them, that the QB will find them when he has time, or that the line will open any running lanes. Versus bad teams those units might be good, but don’t see it this week.
42-14, Ohio State
If you like AB and have a few bones to spare, consider a donation:
By the way, my parents are visiting tomorrow through the 5th. Not even sure I’ll get to watch this game. I might be MIA for a while as I host them. Those of you who have admin/author privileges feel free to draft anything needed.
Fun gentleman’s wager — over under on Luton interceptions: 3
I’m taking the over! ;)
Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if Luton has 3 interceptions by halftime and Blount goes in and looks better. If the OC can work the play calling to whatever QB’s strengths and actually get the ball to the receivers they could actually put some yards on the board.
I love that we brought in a coach that is a so-called QB Coach, only to have him persist with the abortion that is Luton.
The choices were Luton, a frosh JC transfer, or the previous coach’s preferred walk-on. The cupboard isn’t exactly fully stocked.
“The abortion that is Luton?” Do you know him at all? Do you actually know what kind of person he is? Don’t you think you’re a bit over the top here calling someone an “abortion” because you don’t like his skill level? Chill.
Great choice of words there…guy is coming back to play D1 football on national TV, after a thoracic fracture. Stay classy Beaver fans—posts like that might work in SEC territory.
“Stay class Beaver fans”…you do know it was only one Beaver fan that used that very inappropriate phrasing and does not represent the opinion of all Beaver fans, right?
“Stay classy….”
First.
I can’t argue with any point Angry made. I am guessing the Beavs score 14 early, then take a shit for the rest of the game. 52-14
The Ohio State interim coach says their new QB Dwayne Haskins is too fat and that their backup QB Tate Martell will also play on Saturday. The backup of course is another 4-star QB who had at least 24 other scholarship offers.
I hate Tate Martel. Douchiest QB in the NCAAs.
GoBeavs
Posted on the other topic:
Feel free to regurgitate part or whole and claim as your own. I grew up in Columbus and have plenty of friends/family who are Buckeyes, and I usually watch at least half their games.
There are a lot of unknowns this year because they’ve lost so many starters on both sides. They’re reloading with blue chip recruits everywhere, so it’s really just a matter of how the new guys adapt to this level of play.
On offense, Barrett had a few games where he struggled, but the run game was dominant throughout the year. They run a lot of zone read that relied on Barrett’s running ability, and Haskins is mobile enough to make those plays dangerous, but he is more of a deep ball QB than a runner. The running backs return and they lose a few good OL that will be replaced by 4/5-star guys. Haskins, the new QB, came on in injury relief against Michigan and lit up the Wolverines. If the offense looks like it has in the past, stopping the run needs to be the priority for the Beavs. Good luck to our two down DL’s!
On defense, the secondary had a few individual games where they were gashed, but the group is solid all around, especially against the run. Just like the offense, they lost a lot of starters and will be replacing with blue chip recruits and guys that played plenty of garbage time last year. Also, Alex Grinch is their new co-DC, so there’s that. If the defense looks like it did last year, the Beavs will have to get a big game from Luton in order to have any hope of moving the ball. Running the ball is going to be tough.
I don’t see any number of low probability events that add up to a Beaver win here, but we have an outside chance of keeping it close if tOSU’s inexperience, plus tendency to start slow, plus psychological effects of the Zach Smith saga combine with 1-2 sigma performances from every member of our team.
No matter what, I predict Smith’s Beavers will fair better than Riley’s Huskers did last year (62-3).
Good point.
The bar is set at the performance against as performed by our last two coaches.
Forget 37. 59 is our o/u.
I read that their LBs and safeties gave up some underneath stuff last year. I also read that they are going to try a couple different guys at safety during the game on Saturday. JS basically said today that there are no weak spots but we have to take some shots, and Jake needs to get it out quick.
From their message boards they seem to be a little worried about their O-line, a couple guys are out-hurt or are nursing injuries. It also sounds like they are going to rotate in their backup QB which doesn’t sound like they’re really that high on the starter.
Thought you were talking about the Beavs — Defense giving up yardage underneath, O-line depth, and rotating the backup QB. Beav coaches will be doing the same whether they plan it or not!!!!! LOL
NCAA and ESPN don’t want us to win.
Mike Riley has turned this program into a zombie that shuffles into slaughter.
Smith is Riley 2.0.
In short, we get to get embarrassed on national television, again. 52-7
Wee….Go Beavs…
I might even take a vacation from the football program until AFTER a winning season. I’ve got better things to do.
ESPN would love a Beaver victory. It would give them something to talk about for a few days afterward, and would add fuel to the fire of the Zach Smith/Urban Meyer story.
The NCAA wants all those crazy Buckeye fans spending money and traveling to as many NCAA-sanctioned events as possible.
I hate to say it but it’s going to be rough! No push for the Beavs O Line up front against their D Line. The Beaver D Line will look like they’re on roller skates the whole game. And when the D Line is getting moved off the ball as badly as I think the Beavs will be, the rest of the D will be on their heels all day. I don’t feel good about the depth and/or how many freshman will be playing for the Beavs. I am thinking this will be like the Michigan game from a couple years back but I can’t see the Beavs scoring on the first series. Instead, the Buckeye offense will be able to run at will and drop 63 on the Beaver D.
63-7 (or 10, might get a FG) Buckeyes
Go Beavs!
FWIW-
They officially named Luton the starter.
The chart says #2 QB is Blount OR Colletto, so we really don’t know who the backup is.
The whole depth chart is out. Smalls is the starter at TE. Togiai not listed so the MRI must have been bad.
I wasn’t expecting to see Shawn Wilson starting at safety.
A little surprised to see Mathew Tago as a #2 at OLB as a true frosh.
Day is the guy I wished he Beavs attempted to add to their HC interviews.
I am curious how many here will watch this? There’s some interest factor with a new staff, but it’s not otherwise compelling, particularly on a 3-day weekend.
I’ll watch it, just to see the Beavs on national tv.
Didn’t we play Michigan pretty evenly for a half at Michigan, with Seth Collins at QB?
Guessing we get pretty similar results here, but slightly bigger point differential.
Wonder how many times ABC/ESPN will mention Luke Heimlich, just cuz….?
The last time the Beavs played Ohio State, in Columbus in 1984, on national TV, Oregon State led the game 14-3 at halftime against the #6 Buckeyes.
What happened after that?
Didn’t score again and lost by one score.
We also played UW tough(relatively speaking) that year, setting up the really fun lead-up and game the following year.
Tristan Gebbia available now. One of the top qb recruits in 2017.
Didn’t win the job at Nebraska and quit. Could prob get the job here if he showed up.
Quitters need not appl…….did you say 4* QB?
Sign him up!!
I wonder if Bray was involved in his recruitment to Neb, or if Smith recruited him to Washington? Might be some remote chance if there’s already a relationship with someone on the staff.
I can see Oregon is already kicking the tires on this kid.
Quick glance shows a UW offer. So someone at least made contact.
NCAA is again fucking up careers as the Beavs still haven’t heard officially that Landry Payne can plan in a game. He’s not on the depth chart for Saturday.
63-6 tOSU
Jonathan’s press conference video is up
youtu.be/WYXkJwRDauI
Press conferences aren’t going to be interesting until the season starts and everything is done under duress. That’s when he’s going to be forced to up his catchphrase game. “Still finding our identity” and “big boy pants” are already taken.
For anybody interested, this link will take you to a “pickem” contest page sponsored by Hyundai and the Sun Bowl. You pick the winner/loser of a handful of select games each year plus the point total for 1 of the games as a tiebreaker.
The prize isn’t great, but it is a trip to El Paso and the Sun Bowl.
I mostly play it because it’s simple and free entertainment, plus it forces me to check out teams I normally wouldnt.
http://sunbowl.org/contest/register
it is a trip to El Paso and the Sun Bowl.
Pick’em contest, sponsored by Mike Riley.
A couple years back, our guy Jack organized a similar contest right here. Covered mostly PAC12 as I remember.
How about it Jack, got time/inclination to run it again? Ever find that spreadsheet?
It was pretty fun, maybe the winner gets a bar of Angrys beaver soap?
That hard drive is long gone. I’m on hard drive #2 since that one. We’ll see about the time. Maybe I can set up a wordpress site dedicated to nothing but it. That would save on all the cut n paste, which is the major time driver.
Wow, some of our best players out for a while. Noah (2/3 of the season), Tyler (year), Reichert (1.5 months), David Morris (1.5 months).
Not even worth the “luck ‘o’ da beavs” moniker. Its just your normal every day Monday in corvallis.
I believe he said “at least a month” for Noah
The guy who will miss 2/3 to 3/4 of the season is Jay Irvine at CB
And don’t forget the one player I actually saw mentioned in some P-12 best of type lists transferred to a non-power five directional school……thanks Xavier Crawford!
Cory Hall happens to be the DB coach at said school.
Is Riley accompanying the team on this trip? One would think he would be embarrassed to show up.
Riley embarrassed??………….you gotta be kidding!
The man has no shame.
Hopefully the recruiting feed is working for you guys. If not, it’s a browser issue. You need to allow your browser access to 3rd party info. But anyway, says a NE 4-star recruit who Riley recruited is looking to transfer. We could probably use him (though, I haven’t looked at his film yet).
Yeah he was mentioned a few posts ago. He had a UW offer also. Would be nice if JS or Bray had an established relationship with him already. Or maybe Simple Jack can earn his $50k.
Not just the QB possibility but according to Sedge…”A source close to the situation in Lincoln, Nebraska has confirmed to BeaversEdge.com that inside linebacker Avery Roberts will be transferring to Oregon State.”
A local kid!
Looks like a dominant athlete in his HS film. I wonder if he had trouble translating it to a higher level or he just didn’t mesh with the new LB coach.
Avery Roberts, 4-star Linebacker transferring from NE to OSU.
I was talking about Tristan Gebbia (QB) above, who is also a NE 4-star. Hopefully we land both!
That LB is a nice pick up.
Pulling in that QB would be serious.
The linebacker, Avery Roberts was Riley’s 5th highest rated recruit in his time at Nebraska (recruited by Bray). That said his high school competition was in Delaware, and the Scott Frost staff didn’t feel like he was buying into their conditioning program. He was 5th or 6th on their depth chart and encouraged to seek opportunities elsewhere. I’d be surprised if he is ever a meaningful contributor.
Gebbia the QB was recruited by Langsdorf and would be a great get for Oregon State. By all accounts he barely lost the job to Frost’s recruit.
In other words, now we know why he’s a Beaver.
No confidence in Tibesar or Bray?
He missed the slip n slide.
probably just didn’t get along with the new coaches. He got on the field as a true freshman so he shouldn’t be a bust. Looks like we’ve got our replacement for Jonathan Willis next season.
Gebbia is to OSU as MM is to Fresno State? Meaning, since Gebbia lost out to Frost’s guy, much like MM lost out to GA’s guy, could Gebbia come in next year and be good enough to run Lindgren’s offense? Having him for the season as a scout QB would be very welcomed IMHO.
Haha don’t kill me for saying this but… Jonathan Smith = Mark Helfrich?
Hope not… LOL
Nah, Helfrich is a weird fucker. Watch the interviews with JS and Brandin Cooks and you’ll see he’s a decently relatable guy.
Now I’d take Helf’s football mind.
We hope not that we will play for a contrived national championship and have one of our players win a Heisman… again?
The line has gone up. Its as high as 39 now
Get in now before the lines swings rapidly the other way, #OrangeWave is gonna roll into the horseshoe…oh, nevermind.
Drinking that beaverjuice?
NFL cutdown day is this Saturday. Let’s see how many of the fringe guys make it. Nall is right on the bubble. He’ll make a practice squad somewhere.
Somehow obum gwachum has been in the league a few years now. Probably the least productive player to come out of osu and stick in the NFL.
Saw the other day that Matt Moore retired after 11(!) years. Made some money, got out with his noggin (hopefully) intact.
Anybody hear anything yet about how his younger brother is doing at QB?
He’s not in the top 3, and he usually wasn’t even mentioned as part of the top 5.
I’m not sure that’s true…he’s not eligible to play this year.
Then it’s true for this year!
Ohio State items. Go for the experience, as it is awesome. The game will be humiliating.
When the BTN guys did their campus visits the thing that stuck out was the way they blubbered about the physical magnificence of the squad. “Looked like the NFL combine, not a CFB practice,”
was the line that stuck out. The D line in particular will be better than anybodys outside of Clemson’s.
Huge, fast, and deep was the description. They will be able to get serious pressure with the base four guys, so the back end can do what they want. Any losses from last year will be filled with comparable or better talent. They used their LB’s as an example. Meyer has recruited elite players at every position.
The offense will revert to taking more downfield shots. Kevin Wilson, the ex IU HC altered his system to fit Barrett’s skill set. Now he gets to do what he really wants. The new center, Michael Jordan, is an absolute beast and was the first OL to start as a true freshman since Orlando Pace. He was All B1G as a guard last year. Hope the trainers bring buckets of Advil and order an iceberg for post game.
Thanks, now I care even less about college football since talent is so evenly distributed.
Glad I could help. I’m the most apathetic about CFB I have ever been. The only thing good is hanging out and drinking/ eating with our tailgating friends.
When they were previewing the Buckeye/ Beav game our lovable rodents were referred to as “possibly the worst P5 team in the country.”
Going to the game, it is more for the experience than expectations that the beavs play well. The Beavs was just the excuse I need to get wife approval.
Try to go to the Skull Session. It’s an indoor pep rally in their old basketball arena before their game. They usually pull in 20k fans. The people go to hear the band. They are in a league of their own.
I’ll have to look it up, Thank you
So with Omar Speights joining coach Sanders at Crescent Valley this fall, it makes me curious about what happened with the coach’s son, Cam Sanders and recruiting?
At one point, Cam was predicted to be one of the top 4 or 5 players in the state for this class, but I haven’t heard anything about him lately. Looks like he has a PSU and Airforce offer currently. Are teams shying away from him because they figure he’ll end up at Oregon State? Or is he just not quite Pac-12 material? anybody seen him play?
I never see the blowhard Nemec and Jordan Johnson types talk about him when they talk about the state’s top players, despite being a 3* scholarship athlete. It’s strange how quiet things are with him.
Still no word on Landry Payne, and Eggers continues to expect Morris to miss the entire season.
How about the guys who are expected to miss the next 4-6 weeks, only to return for the toughest (except for tOSU) games of the year? Character building?
https://pamplinmedia.com/pt/12-sports/404525-302028-heres-who-will-play-where-for-oregon-state
These kinds of injuries are why the new redshirt rule is beneficial to programs. Guys missing the early part of the season can come back when other guys are broken down late in the year.
Wow; hadn’t realized as many true freshmen were getting playing time. It’ll be a boon if we get minor dings.
I’m going to miss listening to #TPB on The Big Red Overreaction now that they have a good coach. Sigh :(
I don’t have any substance to add to the Ohio State discussion. Just Fuck those guys, I can’t stand their arrogance. Remember, the Big10 is no better than the Pac10 so this is no different than playing at USC or UW, etc…
me as well. This fat fuck named Austin Ward runs some website where he posts videos and articles — yesterday he said he expects Ohio State to score “77 or more” against the Beavs. https://lettermenrow.com/author/austinward/
Wait… that’s not a Minnesota football site?
his dipshit sidekick “Birm” predicts 62-3
they had another guy on there who actually played football – Jake Stoneburner – he predicts 45-10
Their predictions start at 23:00
https://lettermenrow.com/ohio-state-football/ohio-state-oregon-state-press-conference-recap-preview/
I’m not going to watch.
I still can’t get over their blog title.
See last year’s tOSU-Iowa game
Kinnick Stadium is a tough venue and Iowa always has great O and D lines.
I would say the former is because of the latter.
But we all know you can’t recruit to a small place like Iowa City. So it must be because their coaches are the most awesomest coaches ever.
Yes, but that’s no excuse for the huge margin of victory. That wouldn’t have been possible without a performance that was WAAAAAAAY below the mean for tOSU. It doesn’t happen often, but it does happen.
looking back at 2015 at the big house:
the 2015 team that went to Michigan started 15 upperclassmen (6 seniors and 9 juniors). One frosh started – S. Collins at QB
this team is starting 17 upperclassmen (8 seniors and 9 juniors). 2 soph (Hodgins and Rashed) and 3 frosh (Hodgins, Smalls, Hayes)
Kalani Vakameilalo started at DT vs Michigan – the only OSU starter from that game still on the team. Jonathan Willis, Dwayne Williams, Sumner Houston, Kammy Delp, Lamone Williams, Drew Kell, and Adam Soesman also played vs Mich
I just had a thought.
I’ve never minded these body bag games… except that we sporadically get home and home. I get the revenue argument. But it’s ancillary to competition. And a big basis is fear within the cost-benefit analysis. So it invalidates itself with a poorly weighted variable.
I mean… would Michigan really be worried about opening at Reser on national TV this year?
But that mentality has been normalized. And I still want something in return.
So why don’t we get one-off home games from their hoops teams? Or the NCAA can even create some type of rule to have them return both hoops teams, baseball and enough other sports to equal the football team we sent there.
Good luck on the latter. But there should be some quid pro quo among schools.
I’d like to be the first here to thank Ryan Day for his service.

So the Gazette Times lays off Bub Lundeberg…..but Steve Gress and Kevin Hampton appear to still have their jobs.
Nothing against the other guys, and I get that the GT probably can’t support 3 writers covering essentially the same subjects, but why cut the best of the 3 and the one who seems to have revitalized interest in the GT?
I’m worried oregonlive will pick up Bob now. Would be good for him, but unfortunate for those of us who have written off oregonlive.
Ironically, the tariff that was forcing newspaper lay-offs nationwide, has just been overturned.
Luck o the beavers strikes Bob
Morons can neg this all they want. But it was literally hours between the time Lundeberg was fired and SCOTUS deciding the tariff that got him fired was a pile of goat dooey… as are most things Dumbshit says… and occasionally does… when he’s not golfing on our dime.
I wish everyone a happy Labor Day. This is from someone who truly loves the enterprise of labor… Big K labor. We haven’t seen our govt. play that game since Nixon and the Neocons/Neolibs took over. And that’s the revolt that got us the revolting. But here’s a thought.
If you’re willing to die for a brotherhood of laborers… you might be a redneck.
If your primary concern is cost of labor… you might be a Capitalist.
Second paragraph is dead on, “…why cut the best of the 3…?”
IMO, Gress is too much about Gress and Hampton the definition of “meh”.
Good luck to Bob. What are his possibilities other than the big zero? The Salem paper is highly unlikely. How about the Red Guard in Eugene, any chance at all there?
Helmsley, Bend Beav, put in a word with The Bulletin; all kinds of money in Bend, right?
Maybe the Tribune? So Kerry Eggers will have more time to cover the Blazers and write books?
Oregonlive unfortunately makes the most sense, since they just lost Tyson Alger and are losing Andrew Grief at the end of the month. And Nick, who they put on the Beaver beat seems like a disgruntled writer who is covering the Beavs because he has to.
They should put Nick on the ducks and Bob on the Beavs and then let Ken Goe float between the 2 like he has been.
I still wont read it, but at least Bob would cover the team well.
Yeah, right after I typed my comment I thought of the Trib. What an opportunity for Bob if he were to have Eggers as a mentor.
You make a good argument for the O being most likely though.
He would enjoy the high desert air
Too funny. Canzano and Brenda Tracy are in a twitter war with former Ohio State coach Zach Smith. And more texts grt revealed showing Urban Meyer had knowledge but lied to media, and Zach Smith’s mom has taken to social media. It’s just a huge dumpster fire online today. Get your popcorn.
https://twitter.com/CoachZachSmith/status/1034875546923151362?s=19
Avery Roberts is already listed on the OSU roster.
https://osubeavers.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6863
Good thing Jonathan was a few scholarships under the limit. Maybe he knew something.
finally found a buckeye post that isn’t predicting a 60-70 pt blowout….
Big ‘Ole Buck
“Urban took a 2-9 BGSU team and spun it around into a 9-2 team the following year. He also took a 6-7 OSU team and turned it into a 12-0 team the next year.
Don’t say it cannot happen. The distractions around this team are unreal. Ohio State doesn’t have it’s head coach for all of fall camp and the first three games of the season. The impact of that situation will be apparent, and anyone who says otherwise needs to take off their Buckeye colored glasses.
Do I want to believe that the Buckeyes will come out “laser focused” and “angry” and play “pissed off football” on Saturday? Absolutely. Do I believe they’ll blow out another P5 opponent on opening day after all that has transpired over the past 2 months? No, I do not especially given that the Buckeyes have so many new faces (i.e. 2 new LB’s, a new Center, a new QB, and the list goes on and on and on) this season, and let us not forget they won’t have their Head Coach on the gameday sideline for another three weeks. Let us not forget that the Buckeyes replaced their long-tenured Wide Receivers coach with a former player who has also been thrown into the limelight, and that same former player releases a pump up video on social media with f-bombs in the music.
I believe the Buckeyes will win on Saturday, but I don’t believe it’ll be the massacre that so many are predicting. Honestly, I think most who predict such a score are doing so out of anger over the entire UFM/Zach Smith situation to make themselves feel better. It’s still a game played by kids, and those kids have lost their leader(s) when they needed them the most. “
That’s someone who hasn’t done his homework on his team’s opponent.
I wish ‘new faces’ was our big concern.
funny reading their posts from the end of last year. There were many who thought they were going to have issues with O-line and LBs in 2018 (and those do seem to be their weakest areas relative to their other groups). Some voiced concerns about their D-line too (some felt Bosa was great as a pass-rush specialist but may not be great as an every-down player).
But after an offseason of talking among themselves, the masses have now come to the conclusion that they are so loaded that every possession is an auto-TD.
“The distractions around this team are unreal. ”
I checked out S-I’s NCAA Football page and there are currently 3 stories on Ohio State related to their Meyer issues, including a trustee resigning because he thought Meyer’s punishment inadequate:
https://www.si.com/college-football
Looks like you guys get Gebbia. He’ll be a great QB for you next year.
Not sure how close you follow this program but having a kid with his talent next year will be huge. Great pull for Smith who apparently recruited him at UW.
What will it take from Frost this season to get a Big Red Overreaction meltdown?
One loss…..
He’s infallible for about 10 years here. Not joking that much… He isn’t getting any criticism for running off 3 scholarship quarterbacks in less than a year.
Aww man, I was afraid it’d be like that.
Omahan, you a beaver fan? Go Beavuskers!
I married into it :). I casually follow OSU athletics because of her. And we obviously get the chance of seeing the baseball team in person here at the end of the season.
I married into the Huskers. So I know what you mean. I too get to see the baseball team in the post season as they come to Omaha, seeing how we moved to Omaha June 2017. :)
If you ever make it up Minneapolis for the game with Nebraska, stop by our tailgate. I grew up a Nebraska fan as two of my older siblings both have two degrees from UNL. One of our crew has season tickets in Lincoln. It won’t be as fun listening to him bitch about Riley every week.
Congrats for marrying up!
Beavs land transfer from Gebbia, the Nebraska QB mentioned recently. Another pretty impressive pickup for OSU!
https://twitter.com/PeteThamel/status/1034956100255342592?s=19
Man I hope that’s true. Having a 4 star QB will be good for recruiting too.
So is that three 4* recruits for 2019?
We’re gonna run out of stars.
Hopefully all those stars align….
Actually now that the transfers are coming to OSU, they’ve been downgraded to 3* retroactively
I read some articles on this kid losing Nebraskas qb battle. Most seemed to think it was a tie, but gebbia not being frosts recruit lost out. How good is this kid?
He had an Alabama offer.
Based just on his other offers, you would have to rank him up there as one of the top 2 or 3 QB recruits OSU has ever landed. The best part of getting him as a transfer is we dont have to worry between now and signing day that he’ll flip.
Significant offers: Alabama, UW, WSU, Miami, Louisville, OleMiss, Nebraska, South Carolina, West Virginia among others. Also was recruited by several other schools that didn’t offer, but probably would have if they didn’t think they were wasting their time.
Pro style QB with good size and athleticism, but doesn’t leave the pocket much in his film. Would have like to see him get pressured more just to see how his reaction is.
The 5500+ yards and over 70% completion % his senior year stand out to me. Was over 66% for his highschool career.(wasn’t seth collins around 55%, by contrast?)
Certainly helps make up for losing Petras last year. Really nice to see Smith pick up some solid transfers for next year with Gebbia/Roberts/Kipper ready to go. We may look like a real football team.

Oh man, hes got some good looking numbers. Glad to see a qb recruit with a touchdown/interception ratio that isn’t 1:1
I’m at work so no video, but how does he compare to the petras(sp) kid we lost to Iowa?
He shows some solid mobility here from
Last year’s spring game
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yf2oJTTsleo#action=share
From little that I’ve seen of that video, he rolls the pocket well and has a quicker release than Sean Mannion did. So there is hope yet.
Looks good
And this is why you don’t just throw a scholarship at the next QB on your list, they need to be worthy, that said, it’s still be nice to find a high school guy worthy of one for next year
Just got around to catching up on the news. Been hosting family.
He reminds me of…Ryan Leaf. That probably won’t be a popular opinion, but the college version of Ryan Leaf was pretty good. I can see why he has 4-stars. Quick reads, great arm…
I’d take Ryan Leaf all day. Needs to win college games, couldn’t give a shit beyond that.
He has the potential to be really good. What you read is accurate. Him and Martinez (the Frost recruit that won the job) had split reps equally the entire fall camp. Frost decided to go with Martinez because he is more mobile (that isn’t to say that Gebbia isn’t). If Riley had been retained Gebbia hands down would’ve been starting for Nebraska this year.
…which would have resulted in two years of mediocre play because Riley’s system is so hard to learn, but it’s a neat deal once the QB is an upperclassman and can take us to a few Las Vegas Bowls.
Will we ever be rid of the “Riley’s system is just so dadgumit hard” bullshit?
It’s fucking football. It seems sometimes that anyone who can keep the fans awake is labeled a great coach.
Don’t turn the ball over, and win field position.
Duh!
Scott Frost is the best recruiter in Oregon State history.
Hahaaaaaa
Per Steve Gress, your new main man for Beavs coverage at the GT now that Lundeberg has been ditched. Yeah Steve, it’s all about you.
Holy shit!
There were three people doing 300% of their jobs. They fired one, and now there are two people doing 230% of their jobs.
Tariffs suck. Deal with it.
If you don’t like management coming down on you with increased asks for productivity, then you’re not a Capitalist.
Call it all what you want. But that’s the first tenet to Big C Capitalism.
The little wo/man sucks eggs… unless they own a boat… which rises when their own money is gifted to the wealthy in subsidies.
OT: Well just when you thought you have seen everything…..
#Gophers will open season tomorrow at home in white jerseys to accommodate New Mexico State, as the Aggies white road uniforms have not arrived yet.
So the Aggies brought their home Jersey’s by mistake and pleaded with Minnesota to play in their road uniforms at home? hmm….

Smith stating a few times that Luton’s decision making has improved, and he is better at avoiding mistakes and knowing when to take risks.
https://portlandtribune.com/pt/12-sports/404525-302028-heres-who-will-play-where-for-oregon-state
Will that bear out on Saturday? I’m expecting Ohio State to cave in the middle of OSUs line (Sumner Houston) and make life miserable for Luton. Will he rush and force throws? I won’t be surprised if he leaves the game early with injury. Really hope his neck is solid.
Hope he’s figured out how to slide better. That injury last year wouldn’t have happened if he hadn’t gone into some weird half way slide/crouch position.
Reser game day fan experience enhancements this year, includes the beloved clear bag policy.
https://www.gazettetimes.com/sports/beavers-sports/football/osu-football-beavers-announce-changes-to-game-day-experience/article_2652f2ac-7045-58f5-848f-efefbd89877d.html
But with extensive searches, you can bring seat cushions with zippers and pockets.
Also, 2 drink max at Reser and re-entry is still the same. Also, the video board will be fully utilized with no adds on the edges(finally!!)
2 drink per purchase not for entire game.
Alcohol enforcement is going to have tons of fun trying to watch the student section.
People need to get over the clear bag policy. It’s pretty standard nation wide. Ohio State has a no bag policy for those going to the game.
Thanks for the clarification!
I’ve always been able to two fist at any Oregon event with beer.
I’ve always been able to look at the price of a stadium beer and say. “What idiot thinks I’m going to pay that for that?
Others do not think in terms of intelligence, instead letting a beverage consume them.
I saw a link recently from the OSU Bookstore saying you can get a free bag on game day with any purchase, and the freebie is actually bigger than the normal clear bag. One additional note, for some reason you can only enter Reser with this bigger clear bag at entry A.
Anyway, just thought I’d mention because the bigger size should help people who want to pack in rain gear or multiple foam chainsaws.
A little more info on the “alternate” clear bag option.
First link shows an image of it compared to the typical tote bag they sell. It’s a little larger, but looks less durable:
http://osubeaverstore.com/UserFiles/Slideshow/clearbagoptions-1.jpg
2nd link explains the options:
http://osubeaverstore.com/News/Details/clear-bag-options/
Forget fighting the policy.
It’s normalized.
Papers please.
Maybe that’s why you all hate me.
You want Dumbshit to be able to censor shit and control his dumb, hateful narrative in such a way that the rest of us look at you and say, “You dumb mother-fuckers think we live in the 1970’s, and you want to impose ideology reminiscent of the 1870’s?
What kind of dumbshit are you?
Fuck you if you think Dumbshit is an honest American. That means you’ve spent “some” time studying the pseudo-man, and you decided to be on the side of lies… or you just generally suck the life force out of your surroundings… which I cansee happeing in some of your cases.
oopsy
I will say this… in a week where the Pussy in Chief decides to whine that net neutrality isn’t a thing… only that it should favor him… if it ever did anything.
What a humongous pile of shit this pseudo-man is.
Sorry… it’s hard to stay on topic while the chiseler in charge is looming over EVERY FUCKING THING THAT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS COUNTRY.
If you don’t understand that, and your pussy hurts because of it, you can always leave and go somewhere your beliefs are standard… like Turkmenistan.
Make Turkmenistan Great Again!
Fucking moron sheeple said what?
This is life. If you want to complain about what you created, then go right ahead ad do that. Your soup sandwich is noted.
And that half mast garbage didn’t help… not that anyone else in the history of politics would get a pass of any kind for calling a hero something other than what he was.
Old Fucking self-healing double Bonespur is a shit for just that. Anyone who supports him is the same.
Yes… I’m painting you with a broad brush… because you are ethically shit when you don’t stand up against pissant ideologies. Again, you are ethically shit when you have no spine. Again, you are a pissant when you support a serial gropist. Again, you are a moron whe you buy what the Chiseler in Chief sells.
Again and again and again and again.
Maybe we shouldn’t allow someone who can’t acquire legal funding from the Western world to be in charge of our country?
Just a thought.
POTUS is a fucking piece of shit.
There is no quarter for someone that believes in him.
Mostly, this is because anyone who believes in that fraud is just devoid of morality.
But… I suppose they can independently be shits themselves.
Piece
of
Shit
I feel like I should explain why I only drink rainwater and pure, distilled grain alcohol.
It’s not like we have a Rooskie in the White House.
John McCain was a fucking turd.
In case you were wondering, my total tweets equal the same as this conversation–zero.
I am simply a staunch opponent to censorship. I view censorship as an immediate and finite sign of weakness.
Never mind that the Coward in Chief is 100 times the turd you can imagine McCain being… I think you have to back that shit up.
And I hate the man’s ideology.
If we want to get into the whole United Fruit Company and all that conspiracy stuff… I guess we can’t not do that.
But coming from someone who has seen the Forrestal go up in flames from so many different angles so many times… you are never going to die on a plane with John McCain.
You can’t even pretend to be a patriot and still deny the heroism of John McCain.
#fact
To those who would ask me to give it a rest…
… this is a rest.
It can get so much better.
My absolute favorite was this Kelly Ward character taking another family’s end of life and making it all about her.
What kind of tard does it take to think that way?
Oh… yeah….
We’ll see how long it take for duplicity to set in.
Nope. Not a hero. He was a turd.
John McCain was actually the Donald Trump of the military, spoiled rich kid who was a fuckup and a shit naval officer and got out of all of it because his daddy and granddaddy we’re Navy royalty.
Turd.
Fact.
I won’t argue about the legacy bullshit that runs through every branch and has a politics of its own.
But you’re arguing with events that had nothing to do with legacy.
I also won’t argue with his wrongheaded public policies, his temper or his inability to make wise choices.
Sarah Palin?
If that decision doesn’t send up a million red flags with whistles and fireworks and a sign that says “Warning Sign” in a huge font, I don’t know what does.
But demeaning the events of which he was a part, circumstantial or not, is demeaning all service.
Anybody hear JSmith on Rome this morning? Wondering how it went.
He had some nice takes. Didn’t suck. Got some jungle karma.
Good to hear.
Did he call him Chrissy?
Is jungle karma something important?
I’ll be watching Saturday morning not to see a win (if I see a win it will be a miracle) but I want to see the attitude of the team. I always felt GA’s teams were every man for himself. I’d like to see a team effort and a fight to the end team.
I agree with this sentiment. The team better show they are able to communicate with each other on the field and work as a team rather than as a unit/individual. I also always felt the past few years the teams never celebrated in the other side of the balls success; e.g sacks, interceptions, on defense and TD’s long runs/deep passes on offense. It’s been awhile since it was a team.
A while?
Are you talking a season? Are you talking a singular game?
They played as a team against Stanford last year.
They last played as a team for a whole season when 9 was QB.
We knew Tyler would be out all year. This says he’s having a season ending ACL surgery. Best of luck to him.

Slightly off topic, Weber State up 10-0 on Utah with 5 minutes left in the 1st quarter
Also what’s with the new rule : fair catch inside the 5 equals ball placed at the 25? Totally dumb, so much for pinning teams deep
I’m equally upset with this new rule which I don’t care about and that someone is wasting their time following Utah football.
But you cared enough to respond. Also isn’t it up to me if I wanted to watch a college football game. I don’t”follow” Utah football. I just thought it was interesting that Weber was up 10-0 & shared the score. Obviously this was too much for you to deal with so you went to your normal “I’m Jack and I’m an ass” posting that you are insanely good at.
When have I ever not responded?
Responding isn’t a matter of caring. It’s just what you’re going to get.
I’m equally upset with this new rule which I don’t care about and that someone is wasting their time following Utah football.
What he said… twice.
The Jim Rome show actually emailed me today and asked to post this interview. Pretty cool to form a connection with them.

Been out hosing all day every day and totally missed the Gebbia news. Awesome!
Riley finally paid off?
yep
The guy that originally reported it said JS recruited Gebbia hard when he was at UW. So, probably a combination of JS and MR.
Who were you hosing?
“All day every day”..,,,you animal!

Take off, eh!
I inherited many shares of K about 40 years ago, and I’ve held on to them through thick and thin. It’s where I’ve learned that the long play is the best play. I think I have 26x what I originally had through splits.
But I just have a feeling I should be moving out of that space.
It’s water with corn syrup (I’m being generous). Its brand loyalty will likely not survive the oncoming downturn. Yes, it can MAGA the shit out of Malaysia, just like the tobacco companies do… selling their wares to children and having doctors tout their healthy effects with verve. But… in the end… they’re just water and corn syrup (I’m being generous).
Their purchase of Costa reeks of desperation. The reason I’ve always held K is because they never had to do anything to prove anything to anyone.
Times are changing.
Full disclosure:
I’ve been discontent since Dasani came online… same reason plus the absolute waste of bottling water.
Sorry… I also inherited K. And I will continue to hold K and DRIP it for a long while.
I meant KO.
I’m looking to liquidate a couple positions, and the Trump tax cuts tell me I have to sell it all. This garbage rule that I have to sell my oldest holdings first is crapola on a stick. It’s even more so since it was amended at the last minute to exempt managed funds.
What a load of crony and corrupt crap that is.
So… instead of dumping recent purchases of Apple, I’m just going to dump Apple.
Thanks, Obama!
*not kidding
I don’t care about this new rule or your complaints about it. This is a football blog, not complain a about stocks blog.
Suck it up buttercup.
It’s life now. If you don’t like what’s in your face every day, then complain to those who made a really shitty decision.
Then again, it was a lesser of two evils scenario. But to fail so miserably at choosing the lesser evil?
Every hour of every day is how often the stupids need to be reminded that their really really shitty decision, borne of hatred and ignorance and stupidity (and maybe also some extra stupidity), affects real Americans who do real work in the real world.
The imaginary sleights they perceive of “the elites” is really just a con job performed by trust fund bitches who never removed the silver or gold spoon from their asses as they grew up. Dumbshit, the fuckstick supreme, is king wannabe.
And anyone who believes in him is a decrepit, soulless sludge of a pretend human who hates life itself.
If you didn’t enable this stupid, bloviating pseudo-evil, you already know what a pile of shit POTUS is right now. If you think he’s something to respect, you have absolutely zero self-respect.
But enough of looking at the world through Dumbshit’s eyes….

Piece
of
Shit
… of the US.
POSOTUS
Old Bone Spur is a subhuman POS who chiseled from hard working subs, scabbed with Eastern European unskilled labor and left honest people holding the bags of shit he left in every corner of his life.
Unfortunately, he won’t spend a day in jail for his money-laundering for the drug cartels (Panama) or the human traffickers (Deutsche Bank, Cypress, Turkey, et al). But that’s what a gold spoon up your ass gets you.
You’re so touchy.
So you’re saying you don’t like Trump?
It’s not about like.
I’m just making an honest observation.
Shouldn’t you be able to sell any equities you want to sell?
Well… Trump says no.
And he’s of the ilk who made Kelo v. New London a thing. Yeah… he’s that kind of “real estate mogul.”
He’s all lawyer, no hammer.
And now he’s at war with simple algorithms.
The pseudo man is beyond shameless and stupid.
Hello?
The people who watch Faux News and give it its great (relative to other cable shitshows) ratings will never constitute a measurable number of internet clicks. They abhor the internet itself… because of science and stuff.
We’re stuck having to discuss their inability to read or reason instead of acknowledging they have a point. How am I supposed to respect that kind of bullshit?
Why would anyone do so?
Alas, all I know is the numbers. And the numbers say that there will always be a percentage of any population who just hates the rest of humanity… that has no trust in it… that needs to make life hard for everyone else because of their own stupid paranoia… that irrationally strikes back at reason… that is un-American.
I keep my service history to myself now, for fear that I might trigger some stupid who blindly mimics the “thank you for your service” autobot line. And I hate it, because I’m proud to have served. And when I get a nudge from some hitchhiker or a flyboy, I hate that they have to nudge me back when I look at them sideways, like everyone else gets.
They’re my brothers and sisters (and whatever, as much as you don’t want to say so). They bleed like me… many of them more than me.
When some shit with a psycho narcissism hates on that, I have to speak in support of someone whose politics I can’t stand. But the man was a man in every respect.
I can’t say the same for POSOTUS.
I might be in the minority here, but I don’t mind Jack’s off topic comments. Especially with another 24 hours of time to kill before the game is actually played. Rant away
I don’t mind either.
I rarely read them all, but if one is on topic where I have something to say, I might comment (and get shot down by Jack for being a clueless Bircher since he knows everything about everything).
Idle hands need a distraction?
I can buy that.
Although, I don’t have trepidation about this game. We’re in a win-win situation, given expectations.
More often than not it’s just an annoying thread killer.
Not so much that I need a distraction. I find your multiple posts to be well thought out and interesting. I’m not really that interested in hearing about football yet anyway. Still feels like we should have another month before football starts.
As for the upcoming season. I’m strangely confident the Beavs will exceed expectations this year. Part of that is the expectations being so low, but this was a team that had the talent to be a bubble bowl eligible team last year(and several were projecting that)
It became evident pretty early we had an imcompetent coaching staff and nobody was on the same page, resulting in a trainwreck of a season. Yet even with the trainwreck we were right there in the CO and Stanford games with our 3rd string QB.
This year, QB play will again be an issue, but we at least have someone who can run the offense and make a few plays with his arm. If they have a decent run game and if the defense can play up to their abilities, I think we eek out 3-4 wins, maybe even 5 if confidence is high. This team just feels like they’re playing more as a team than past recent iterations of OSU football, and they have enough unknowns that I think they’ll surprise a few teams. Guys like Iriah and Jefferson give me confidence. Good attitudes guys to have.
No. You get shot down for trying to academically explore things with Bircher language and ideas. If I’ve ever called you clueless, it’s because you seem to think ideas which were invalidated 70 years ago (and 60… and 50… and 40… etc.) are valid in some way, especially in the language used.
It’s not that I know everything. It’s that I know a couple things. I know enough to say that America has already had a “discussion” about Nazis. It was before I was born, and I respect those who “discussed” it… and put it to rest… we thought.
If you want to use their language, I’ll call that out as well.
Agreed on the talent level.
I don’t understand the Neggie Nellies who say otherwise. It’s like they want to pre-excuse a coaching failure… which I also want to see succeed but have no basis to say one way or the other.
I feel like the Beuaners still think he’s ethical and stuff.
*beeowners
NiceBeaver, I agree with you in that this team should and is capable of surprising people. The fact that we have competent coaches at the OC, DC, and ST, TE, OL, and LB.
Would agree with NiceBeaver if we had a QB. Luton is a problem, as is depth. These will be the two killers of exceeding expectations, unless some guys we aren’t counting on step up and over perform. Depends what expectations are, too. For me this is a 3 to 4 win team.
Nor is this a blog where you post 3 times in a row with a different take on your own take. Jack is the Angry Beavs Tom Hanks Castaway?
Actions have consequences, buttercup.
Props to JS for snagging the @Coach_Smith Twitter handle. How many Coach Smiths can there be out there?
This Ohio State controvery isn’t going to go away quietly. Major distractions for that team as we head into game day. They’ll still win, but it will be nice to be playing the role of the underdog that everybody else in the nation is pulling for.
Urban Meyer issues another clarification of his role and punishment in this whole thing. “It’s not that I lied, it’s that I lied about something different than you all thought I was lying about, so everything is all good…”
Yet text messages show Meyer deliberately chose to play dumb on media day.
What a mess. Better them than us, I suppose.
https://twitter.com/OSUCoachMeyer/status/1035536934465097728?s=19
I have a couple of patients that are tOSU boosters. They are both grads and fly down to every game. Season ticket holders for 40 years. She was in this week and after prompting, offered up that she thought they should have fired him. It is really amazing how badly Meyer handled the presser.
Question for Jack….
What are your thoughts on the “quitters” the Beavs just landed from Nebraska?
It was Trump’s fault
Hmmm… I hadn’t considered that, but I’m sure you’re right.
I’m not sure how.
I have a hard time placing fault on Dumbshit.
He’s too stupid to be effectively at fault for anything. If this were the Wizard of Oz, he would be the curtain… and ugly, fat curtain that golf’s on the public’s dime… all the time.
Why would their transfers be anything related to that pile of lying, philandering, corrupt, narcissistic cockroach dung?
If I were Nebby, I wouldn’t allow them to return as football players.
And I certainly wouldn’t bestow upon them any label which denotes them being anything integral to the Nebby team in any capacity. They clearly left because they thought they weren’t integral to the team.
I don’t know if I like the timing of it all. They did commit to fall camp then took their balls and went elsewhere. In the back of my mind, I’m thinking old habits die hard. If I was looking at either as a potential hire in the professional world, I would take that into consideration.
Looks like the Beavs are going to try to flip a 2019 Juco Minnesota Gopher commit. DT Keonte Schad. Wouldn’t surprise me to see him here on an official visit in the near future. Will update if I hear anything.
https://247sports.com/Player/Keonte-Schad-46055292
Go Beavs!
Don’t suppose JS recruited Bailey Hockman while he was at UW?

PHIL STEELE REPORT (#97 Oregon State @ #3 Ohio State, 9/2/2018)
Last met in 1984. Oregon State is a young team without a lot of depth and a first year head
coach but does have 15 returning starters. The Beavers allowed 51 ppg and 530 ypg in
their 6 road games last year and now travel across the country. Ohio State averaged 572
ypg at home and 48.8 ppg in their six home wins last year. Urban Meyer will not be on
the sidelines but that could mean more focus than normal as a huge favorite. Ohio State has
two ex-head coaches on the staff in Greg Schiano and Kevin Wilson. The Buckeyes need
to give QB’s Haskins and Martell confidence. My computer calls for a 43 point win and
even without Meyer, I agree.

Hey so I’m in a really tall building now. Isn’t it amazing how tall buildings are? I would hate to have a construction job where I had to go up and one wrong move would be splat. Think how much trust you would have to have in your equipment and coworkers.
Can you really trust anyone these days? Whatever happened to times where we could all get along with our neighbors for the most part and not be looking at each other sideways? Maybe that’s just projection. If you don’t trust people you probably think people don’t trust you.
Those trust falls they do at seminars are stupid. If the person behind you intentionally dropped you, there would be consequences. To really be trustworthy that person would need to be free of external consequence for bad behavior. Then again being trustworthy doesn’t mean you will be trusted.
Something to think about sheeple
Who came up with the word sheeple? Maybe it was almost clever years ago but now it’s trite. Stupid.
My coffee is lukewarm. Why don’t they make coffee the right drinkable temperature when they give it to you? Starbucks is the poster child for capitalism and pushing small companies under. Or is it Amazon? What if amazon bought Starbucks? Too much monopoly.
You guys are right. Spewing random stuff on a sports blog that has nothing to do with sports is awesome. Let’s make babblebeavs. It’s not like there will be anything good going on in beaver sports for a while anyway.
Sorry not guys, sheeple. Or maybe lambple. Lamb pie? Mmm!
Nope… applies now.
When they ask if I want room for cream and sugar, I say, “No thanks, but can you put some ice in it, please?”
Ice.
Who knew it could cool your coffee?
Amazon is worse than Starbucks. All Starbucks does is open coffee shops. Amazon will sell your wares until they can figure out if they can produce it themselves and undercut you. Then they will do that.
I personally patronize small coffee carts instead of Starbucks or Dutch Brothers… or is it Bros?… Bros is so dumb. When I’m on the road, I hit up known diners and drink their coffee… which is still too hot out of the pot. I use ice from my water to cool it down to a drinkable temperature.
Ice.
Who knew it could cool your coffee?

so fucking stupid
Are you channeling Jack? What’s happening here?
(meant for Scotty)
He’s trying. But it appears he’s not deep enough to get it right.
carrots is doing an awesome job of sarcasm. I enjoy those posts. Maybe scotty will grow up to be semi-clever one day… maybe not. But that he’s trying is all that’s important.
I keep hearing about impeachment which reminds me of a political cartoon from when Clinton was in office. It had Nixon and Andrew Johnson in a room with the caption “The Impeached Club”. Nixon is complaining to Clinton walking in”boy they’ll allow anyone in here these days.” So it could be interpreted a number of ways.
Lots of sheeple think Nixon was impeached, but he wasn’t. And impeachment is essentially like being indicted. Some sheeple think it’s like getting removed from office. Nope but it happens first. Or you resign.
I used to love Pat Oliphant. Snazzy bowtie dresser with a great name. Reminds me of elephants. Like the animal which is the Republican mascot for some reason. Maybe Oliphant was an elephant? Now there’s a conspiracy. Control of the populace via political cartoons. Who writes or reads letters to the editor these days?
I went to the Nixon library once. Too young to remember much but had fun. Is there more corruption now or are we merely aware of the corruption that exists? The Trumpity Trump Show has been full of scandals that make me miss talking about stains on a dress. And something about thongs in the Oral/Oval Office. More innocent times. Wake up sheeple.
Gratuitous self-reply that says nothing. Suck it up, sheeple.
Sheeple sheeple lamb pies.
Nixon had autocratic tendencies. Harding was corrupt and in over his head. Johnson was an obstinate bigot who, by circumstance, ended up in a position of leadership, but was too blinded by his ego to compromise. Clinton was a floozy.
We get all of them in one tidy package… wrapped in an ugly fat suit with a dead cat on top of it.
When I hear impeachment,. I think of peaches. Peaches for you, peaches for me. Peaches for everybody! Ever seen James and the giant peach? That was a tremendous peach. Yuge! Biggest peach you’ll ever see. That movie was an instant classic, probably best movie of all time, if you like peaches.
The best movie about peaches was A League of Their Own.
But Looking around, I see there are movies named Peaches from 2018, 2008, 2004 (with Hugo Weaving… what kind of pill did he have to take for that one?) and 2000. There’s also one from 2013 called Peaches Does Herself.
Peaches does herself? Wow! I’m pretty sure that the dirtiest movie about peaches.
Judging by the title, I would agree.
Utah St takes a 31-30 lead over MSU in East Lansing. 5 minutes left. B1G network if anyone’s interested

That’s what she said…
Jack doesn’t care & how dare you guys post score from a football game on a football blog. Are you following one of those teams. For shame. It’s quite unbecoming of you. Currently I’m watching x files reruns on the BBC America channel. Why do you name your kid fox? Because you’re actually wherewolf?or did his parents think he would be crazy like a fox? Or perhaps mom and dad were anticipating his later years, you know people with grey hair sometimes get called a silver fox. Another possibility is they were planning on putting him in charge of retrieving eggs from the henhouse. There’s fox in the henhouse! Endless possibilities for the reason he got that name. We should discuss it at length during the game tomorrow!
I don’t care.
But I thought it was an Oregon State sports blog, not a football blog. You need to keep your whines straight.
I tried to watch the new x files last year. It was so boring. I don’t know why I tried. I didn’t watch the original series. It was so boring. But the fox question is interesting. This group seems to side with the nickname, not so much the professional adult part of the name.

I like how you can’t name your kid anything starting with H or ending in -en because of your surname. Hen is out, but fox is in? As I look at other forums, I see that most parents who named their kid Fox only really have misgivings because the nickname most common is Foxy.
Is your child brown sugar and spice? If you’re not ice, will he put you on ice? Maybe people should shorten other Pam Grier movie character names. Foxy turns into Fox. Sugar Hill can be either Sugar or Hill. And Coffy can be Coff.
Before the x files, I knew of only one person ever named Fox–Fox Conner. He was named so because it was his mother’s maiden name. History says less than five kids a year were named Fox until 1995, when it jumped to 19. Now there are some three to four hundred of them per year.
Haw passe.
Passe would be a good name these days.

I’m looking forward to the game tomorrow. I don’t expect great football, but I don’t get to watch many live beaver games anymore and I have not been to the Shoe. Go Beavs!
Watching the Graham-Kapowsin/Sheldon game on EspnU…this WR for GK is a stud. A little undersized but he’s got wheels and catches everything thrown his way. Might be a good early offer. He was injured last year so has gone a bit unnoticed. That won’t last long.
Ugh…just looked him up. Only 5’-9”.
Their QB is all world. He’ll be shredding the Beaver secondary in a couple years.
Last call for political bickering, history lessons, and other fun OT stuff??……..Game thread set to post at 10:30 tonight.
See my previous post about the x files show!
So that score prediction. You meant at halftime, right? lolol
Naturally!
