You missed the Tinkle sisters

Since nobody claimed it…….First!
Dang it. Well played.
Doesn’t appear that Fulkerson is going to play today but we’ll see at game time.
Looking at Tennessee’s recent games, they really are good on defense. Holding most teams to under 40% even in losses. But it’s mostly from perimeter defense. So the Beavs will need to get consistent scoring in the paint, otherwise it’ll be a blowout.
So…….Beavs height advantage should carry the day?………….As long as TO’s don’t ruin the day?
Agree here. Andela and Alatishe will have big games but how will Barnes use tempo to combat the size. Silva with 8 and 6 would be a good contribution. He will pick up cheap fouls trying to keep up with the speed. I’m thinking a lineup with Alatishe at the 5 with ET, Hunt, Lucas, and Reichle.
I’d expect Tenn to blitz the Beavs at the beginning of the game. Lots of run outs and press defense to slow down beavs half court offense.
If Tenn is weak at defending the post, seems like the inside game and OSU foul shooting could be an advantage? Beavs getting to the line, exploiting their FT advantage, and slowing the game down, could be helpful?
I’m guessing if it is close or Beavers lead, Tenn panics or handles it poorly, and Beavs maintain cool based on recently developed success and confidence.
I don’t see this team playing with any jitters. They have been playing with house money winning the tourney. Should have all the confidence in the world
Already one foot out the door…
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/31093341/jacksonville-jaguars-coach-urban-meyer-says-nfl-free-agency-system-not-good-business
Baseball allowing fans at 15 percent capacity today. That will all go to family and season ticket holders though.
Also hearing rumors (99 percent sure) spring game will be May 1 or 8. They are planning on fans. In the past only the new side was open. I am wondering though if they don’t open the whole stadium since it may be capped at 15 percent. Think that would sit everyone that wants to go based on past attendance… of course people are itching to get out and with the game in May it could be close to record attendance even capped at 15 percent.
Baseball season ticket holder here – they’re using the “Beaver Points” list to determine who gets tickets first, (based on contributions, years of holding tickets, etc.), after families of players. I’m not high up enough to make it yet, possibly if restrictions are lowered and they go up to 25% capacity.
By May, Benton county should be able to get to the lower risk territory and have 50% capacity.
Nice interview with Wayne on the Payton Years. He directly addresses the fact that the team didn’t know what to make of Tres being the hardest worker on the team, but also the coach’s son. Basically, it was impossible for him to set the tone as a leader because of who he was.
Read that Florida St’s coach announced today he will hold out Omar Payne, the guy who elbowed Tennessee’s Fulkerson last week. Some see it as a sign that Fulkerson is not playing, so the FSU coach thinks it only fair that his guy isnt able to play either for causing the injury.
Meant Florida
Fulkerson is officially out for UT
Go Beav’s!
C’mon Beavs let’s get our first tournament win in IDK how long. Work the paint and take care of the ball.
Nothing to lose! We should go for it every time on 4th down and never punt. Play to win!
Hey!
Looks like they have a 7′ footer.
I think he’s an ASU transfer, but barely plays
I feel like the Beavs should win, but the refs will screw ’em. Let’s see…
I don’t think so, these aren’t pac-12 refs or LSU loving umps.
A couple dumb TO’s so far. That bleached hair guy is all over Lucas on defense.
I can understand why Silva thought he still had the dribble. Got the ball knocked away and never regained possession until he put the ball on the floor again. Should have been a legal dribble
Scoring in the paint, getting everyone involved on offense, good rebounding, forcing bad shots by UT…
Everything is going according to plan so far. I’m surprised UT isn’t pressing harder on D.
100% on FT’s?
I think I took the Beavs in both brackets? Looking good so far. Refs have to regroup. ;)
Good start. Keep it going boys!
Close down driving lanes. Let em shoot from deep
UT has been hesitant on offense. Instead of driving at the Beavs and challenging them inside, they’re settling for 3’s, which isn’t their strength.
They’re doing a pretty good job cutting them with help when they try. That one layup they made was pretty tough reverse.
One thing beavs keep doing is falling for the pump fakes. Gets them off their feet and allows tenn to drive.
Don’t need to extend feet beyond the three point line.
Agree
Damn, they missed that backdoor pass to Thompson…easy layup.
Starting to stand around on O.
Bs offense foul
ZR looks like he is in slo-mo lol.
I was surprised he passed on an open 3 and handed it off to Lucas for the 30 footer instead. He’s been all over the boards, though.
Ya he wasn’t hesitating lately and that’s been good can’t start doing it again. Alatishe could’ve taken the shot over the smaller man too.
Crappy basketball on both sides right now. Beavs had chances to widen the lead.
Really? They look great except missing that one backdoor pass.
Beavs look best with Silva’s big body out there taking up space.
Mean block by Alitishe there
Nice low post moves like that certainly help.
I mean that block was something else. Thought he blocked it so hard they would call a foul!
Tennessee is shooting like an old time women’s team. Hope they don’t find their testicles until tomorrow.
They’ll make a run at some point. Always happens in tourney games. Beavs just need to make sure that run isn’t at the end of the game.
Halftime adjustments will be big.
There’s always a few blowouts in the first round. Beavs a good second half team typically. Didn’t you say they have a really good record with the half lead?
Womens team? Taylor Jones has something to say about that:
https://twitter.com/BeaverAthletics/status/1372703919441211393
I said old time….. like 30 years ago.
I’d have been disappointed if you didn’t catch me on that! ;)
Pat Summit wouldn’t stand for this kind of effort. It’s okay for Rick Barnes because he’s a colossal idiot as a coach.
Anyone else notice Tinkles body language seems different? He used to do hands to the face and be so negatively animated. I’m sure players noticed. He is must more calm and postive.
The Dog Whisperer talked to him.
Beav’s playing great D
And O.
Silva with some good shots.
We’re really competent at basketball. This team reminds me of some of the mid-majors I’ve been jealous of in the past. Playing good defense, solid team basketball without any legit pro prospects.
Ohio St about to lose to Oral Roberts. Yikes.
Busting some brackets.
Only chicks who picked randomly are still whole. All male brackets just got destroyed.
My 5 year-old is doing great, but he has the Beavs in the championship game, so…
Silva is schooling that UT 7-footer down low.
Give it to Silva. Every time.
ET passing up shots and setting up Silva. Nice!
They’re absolutely nailing the game plan right now.
Playing our game. I think tenn will go 5 guards in second half and really try to speed up the game.
They still need an answer for Silva
Spoke too fast…
Terrible last possession
Damn, that was impressive by Johnson.
Tinkle should have called time when Lucas got in trouble. We had 3 of them. No need to leave him trapped like that
Another stupid TO on offense. Need to cut down on that. UT isn’t going to go quietly.
Surprised they aren’t full court pressing.
End of the half play shows why that guy is rated so highly for the nba draft. A great play, steal from the backside and goes coast to coast.
Can’t let those type of plays happen in the second half.
Play like it’s tied. Keep grinding.
Scoreboard lies
The good thing is it takes a lot of energy to pull a comeback. The Beavs used to do this all the time. They’d play like trash and then stage a comeback, only to fall short because they had jelly legs and were worn out. Tennessee is in that boat, even though we all know they have a run in them. If they do win, they’ll have to overcome fatigue in addition to the score.
We should run the ball in the second half to keep the clock running and then hit em with some play action bombs.
NO punts in the first half! It’s working. Go Beav’s!
Most importantly go for it on every 4th down.
Hey!
“I wish we would have run the ball more.”
-The guy that calls the plays
Riley after every Langsdork disaster, and yet he still thought Langsdork was the best he could do.
If they’re smart they would full court press. Beavs have had trouble with it all year and don’t have any great ball handlers.
Shut up! They might be be reading this site and get ideas…
Zach nooooo! Whew!
Announcers just don’t know that Beavs play better when Ethan struggles.
Nice start
Beautiful pass and 3 by ET and Reichle
That was pretty. I haven’t watched any OSU other than the Tourney, so it’s been amazing to see we have what looks like a legit offense that has a plan instead of street ball.
Angry, that makes total sense and I think most people in the country are in your boat. The issue has always been consistency. Except this year you could see the flashes of a good to great team. I even gave up on them as they regressed. I didn’t catch the PAC 12 tourney live. Now I am seeing the consistency, they are gonna be trouble for anyone they play.
Nothing is falling for Alatishe today
He needs to keep attacking. They’ll start falling
Silva is golden..
Was Silva a highly rated recruit?
He had a UTEP offer
Bad D there.
These refs are awful.
Who are these guys? Missed the 1st half.
They have to communicate better on D can’t keep letting guys get lost.
That Vescovi guy is a punk
Agree he’s getting away with a lot on Lucas.
Hockey refs
UT is starting to do what they should’ve been doing most of the game
Here’s the run.
You can see why tenn can be a great team. When they can get out and run, all their guys are track stars. But slow them down and make them settle for threes and they become average.
Clog the key.
That TN run was brief. Beavs stop them, get a 3, and then TN gets a 4th foul on a key player. I’d say it’s looking good barring a meltdown. TN is going to have expend so much more energy than us to win this.
In the middle of a workout. Every time I finish a set, I check in on the game and the Beavs are hitting a three. Call me superstitious — Gonna be a lot of sets, and ripped by the time this game is over.
Keep it up!
That’s what his wife said.
Running out of upper body muscles to work on. Lots of push-ups in my future! Calloo! LOL
Get on your Hans and Franz!
Need to get good looks, not 30’ threes.
Looks like the Refs have decided that no foul against Thompson counts in this game.
For the most part they’ve been letting em play. There’s been a few calls that could have gone against the Beavs too. Andela should have a few on him for stuff under the basket.
This ain’t pac12 refs where they call everything. We’re just not used to it!
Beavs should start shortening the game here unless they get a wide open look.
Seriously. Quick shots help Tennessee at this point, unless it’s a gimme.
No passing…run up the middle!
We were playing so well I forgot who our coach was, thanks for getting back to reality Angry… I saw 4 one possession games this year where tinkle blew it. No different here, should be slowing it down. Tenn offense has struggled, less likely they can come back with limited overall possessions
Why the down votes? It’s our existence with Tinkle. Be mad at him, not me lol
Finally at the point where Tenn has two bad choices: 1) set up a shot which takes too much time off the clock, or 2) shoot quickly with less percentage chance.
Losing the rebounding edge that they had earlier.
The announcer is right. Weird that tenn isn’t pressing full court. Once hunt gets the ball they back off. Then the Beavs slow walk it up to run clock.
Game.
First Beav tourney win in how long? Like 1990 or so?
I think they said 82.
Wait a minute Angry, Tinkle = Riley, so I wouldn’t be so sure. There is the Tinkling factor, that we are seeing right at this moment
Need to make free throws to close it out.
Late TN run, but I’m sticking with the call!
Beavs sure setup for heartbreak.
Please, don’t be a one possession game
Sloppy play. Can’t get trapped in corners.
Just need to take care of the ball and stop making mistakes and turning it over. Tinkle needs to calm them down.
Angry you better not of jinxed us.
Need to burn some clock, but if you get a good look, take it.
Free throw game now
Lucas should not give up the ball once he gets it. Make them foul him so he is shooting the FT’s.
They have clearly been told not to foul him
Tress Tinkle lol
The announcer called him Tress…
Where’s Jack? Definitely dead if he’s not here celebrating this.
Guys, it’s okay to celebrate. Beavs win. I know we’re all traumatized as Beavs, but it’s over.
Wow great win first in almost 40 years!
I was in school for the last one…
Damn your old! Jk
Ancient in dog years!
So was I, and didn’t we get to watch some good ‘ball back then, too? These guys are good and I am so proud to be a Beav. Last weekend was good as well. Didn’t watch the Beav-UCLA game but watched the Oregon game and didn’t think that it would be much of a game after they had schooled us the prior weekend; I was happily wrong! Watching us go toe to toe with CO was even better and coming out on top; Wright III’s expresssion after the game-one they thought they should have won was priceless – they didn’t know what hit ’em. These Beaver team deserves this and all the respect they are getting, from the announcers on down. They are a good team, offensively and defensively, that has come together at the exact time they needed to. Bring on Liberty or OK State!
Nothing like seeing the bench emptied!
Nice even 70 spot. Thanks for appeasing my OCD, Beavs.
That was fun!
“What a story, Oregon State Ducks getting it done!”
CANCEL TNT
Did they really say that? Lol…I turned it off.
Really actually said it… smh.
Only 20% of the Country lives West of the Mississippi…I don’t think most could even find Oregon on a map.
“Only 20% of the Country lives West of the Mississippi…”
Thank god for that…
Not only that – The announcers repeated 5 talking points about the Beavs – individually, only noted the players’ hometowns, but gave a master class about a Tennesee player who ate yogurt. I don’t use Facebook but I hope someone on AB who does will ask if the announcers were on Tennessee’s payroll.
let it go…
Gogurt.
Great win – at last! GO BEAVS!!!
“What a story, the Oregon State Ducks getting it done.”
Bruh
Another great team win. If this is what the future of the program looks like, it’s bright.
Time to scout our next opponent. Go Flames.
Great win, Beavs!!
That’ll do Beavs. That’ll do.
Great win. Finally got one in the dance.
Truly great win for Oregon State. Really happy for the players and staff.
But anyone else get nervous when the ball was in Ethan’s hands down the stretch?
And really a terrible look by Tres Tinkle wearing a shirt with his own picture on it from his OSU days.
it was a picture of Jarod Lucas
https://twitter.com/tres_tinkle3/status/1373040890730717185
OK – a thousand pardons Tres.
Really so happy for the team. Went out and bought a bunch more Oregon State stuff today at the Beaver store (some good stuff on clearance) inc. a March Madness shirt.
So jacked to know the Beavs will be included in the One Shining Moment montage (and not the “gone in a blink of an eye” part).
Now for the baseball team to take care of business.
Time to root for Liberty.
I have Oklahoma State in the finals and felt they were one of the more underrated teams (based on research…never saw them lol).
They have the #1 pick in the NBA draft. Not underrated at all.
I meant getting a #4 seed…seems a dis.
It will be the Batte for the rights to OSU since Ohio state got bounced.
Yeah Angry, Cade Cunningham is legit, but he carries the team. After what I saw today I am regretting not picking the Beavs round 2
Scouting the other OSU now…so far look super athletic. Possible attitude problems. Nothing else yet.
I can’t believe I missed “announcers call us the Ducks” in the drinking game.
Beavers are playing out of their minds right now. How would everyone feel now if Tinkle got an extension?
I’m ok with one extra year for every tournament appearance.
Agree — and I expect there will be more.
!
(Decisive victory)
Liberty’s uniforms look like something from a cheap kids rec league.
Church league
Liberty looks okay early on. Oklahoma State looks a bit overly hyper and jacked up. When they all settle down we’ll see reality…but hopefully not!
This big dude on Liberty is causing early problems. Interesting.
Not sure how to look up past comments but this team always struck me as “better” than the last few iterations of. Play D and hit open shots. It’s not a difficult game.
Did they just say, “They have him in a torture chamber.” ?????
Gotta give a shout out/tip of the cap to Roman Silva. Dude was a beast down low and had it going on.
I was annoyed they didn’t try to pound the ball more to him. He could’ve had 30. Tennessee had no answer for the big fella and no one that could defend him.
Steal by Beavs (player?) with 45 sec left in the game, such a good sign of the heart and attitude of this team.
The scouting report on Ok St is really easy. Cunningham is going to get his. So the key is to stuff everyone else. No need to double Cunningham. Make him play hero ball.
It shouldn’t escape anyone’s attention that Tinkle outcoached Barnes in that game big time and the team executed really well.
yeah, no large breakdowns. Some issues breaking the press but they didn’t last that long.
When of my best friends in Minneapolis, who is a basketball nut, told me yesterday that the Beav’s would win because “Barnes always chokes in the Tournament.” Guess he was right.
Eating more crow. Happy for tinkle and co.
OT: Rueck with, as expected, a class response to questions about the recently reported inequity of tourney workout facilities between Mens and Women’s teams.
https://www.gazettetimes.com/sports/beavers-sports/basketball/osu-womens-basketball-inequity-of-weight-room-other-items-disappointing/article_59dabedc-e39a-5229-9a02-2263c7fb095b.html
What if Liberty actually wins? Scouting report, anyone? Clearly they like to play a very slow, time of possession game. Shooting 50% from 3 – not sure if this is normal or not, but it’s impressive so far.
Gotta think they fall apart and get out-athleted at some point.
Liberty is all about the 3
This Anderson guy seems pretty good. Someone above said all they have is Cunningham.
Great game Beavs. Dominating defense.
Forgot to add…..
Vescovi for UT had really pretty hair. And the 80’s called….
I will be the first to admit I questioned Tinkle as a coach. But you have got to give credit to him and
his staff. This team looks like a well coached and well prepared basketball team. If you would have watched them
at the beginning of the year you would not think it was possible they would be playing in the round of 32. This is
a sign of good coaching and getting the players on the same page.
The question to ask is what changed? Why after 4/5 years are the players finally buying in? Was Tinkle just going through the motions since GP2 left. Or did the players just not give a shit until 2 weeks ago? It’s strange, they have done a 180° turn and its a completely different team.
Tinkle himself offered an explanation: he said the older guys on the team have done a good job leading by example. His theory was when Tres was a team leader, it was harder for the rest of the team to follow his lead because it was easy to assume he was only “all in” because his dad was the coach.
I’m sure there’s another side to that story, but it’s pretty clear there’s something to the AB theory that having the coaches kids was a blessing and a curse and that this program will be different with the sons gone.
Tinkle has talked about being more spiritually at peace lately, that and not having the pressure of coaching his own son may be a big part of the change; took nearly all season for those changes to translate into better team play.
That makes a ton of sense. Sadly I am almost buying it. You remember what they accomplished with GP II and a bunch of walk ons. I can see a team thinking Tinks is playing favorites especially when the team IMO played better without his son hogging the ball… Still doesn’t make up for Tinkles terrible game management… he’s is essentially the Riley of men’s BBall now lol
The last tourney team had eubanks, tres and stj. Not a bunch of walk-ons.
Oh Bill thanks for being the knower of all. You realize that they were all freshman too. Then you look at the above and realize the thread is about team cohesion. So most people would comment something in context. You are like the dude that corrects everyone on grammatical errors and doesn’t add to the discussion.
BASEBALL: Stream is linked above, stats can be found here:
http://stats.statbroadcast.com/statmonitr/?id=329663
Lineup has a few surprises, no Preston Jones and at DH is Brady Kasper making his first appearance.
Will Abel be able to avoid HBP and WP tonight?
Start is delayed, planning now on 6pm
UPDATE: now planning a 6:45 start
Jones should be a spot player. He has never progressed as a hitter and has some ugly plate appearances.
Anyone know if the spread changed before the bb game? Just interested to know if the one Tennessee player being out made it move at all.
It didn’t move. I checked. The news only came at game time. Would’ve at least moved 2 points to the Beavs if it came earlier in the day.
I almost wonder if okie st. Would be the better matchup. The Beavs have been playing well in the underdog role.
No liberty would be better but it’s not looking that way
Okie State forced Flames to TO at twice their season average, can the Beavs be ready?
Is McKay wearing a different team’s jacket?
Another all orange matchup. Will be solid underdogs again. I’d guess 9-10 points.
Something’s for sure…OSU will be in the Sweet 16!
Lol. So cheesy you could go into broadcasting.
We aren’t going to have the advantage inside that we did against UT. Still, OkSU’s offense is kind of like UT’s in that they aren’t great 3 pt shooters, they just also happen to have one of the best players in the country. If we can play the same kind of defense we did today and hit our 3’s, we’ll be in it.
Vegas knows something I don’t. Ok state opens at 5.5 favorites.
Thanks, swayed by the “story”? Watch for changes as analysis and $ comes in.
Second Abel pitch is, wait for it……..HBP
So much for the Big 10. Ohio State and Purdue both upset.
Illinois looks like the real deal. Not sure which Michigan and Iowa teams will show up to the tourney.
Otherwise, conference showing has been trash.
North Carolina disagrees.
Completely forgot about Wisconsin…
Is baseball cancelled?
Going to b1, Abel off to what for him isn’t unusual, a somewhat shakey start.
0-0
Nm
t2, Abel’s first WP of the night leads to first Cougar run.
Kevin is not throwing strikes, Dorman needs to make a visit, but doesn’t
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPRTO4wioUc
Here’s Tinkle’s post game presser
Was there a game today?
I think I noted Barnes is a crappy game coach. Great game, I’m superstitious, so I go into hibernation during Beavs games.
Really enjoyed the aggressive defense today. As my older brother in MSP texted me after the game…”the better team won today”. Sure is nice to hear that in reference to an Oregon State team.
The Beavs looked like the better team from the tip-off. I’m wondering what the SEC is really about now. The score could have been worse, Alitishe missed some wide-open looks.
Through 4 full it’s looking a lot like last weekend. Cougar pitcher throwing K’s, Abel falling behind in the count and, again, WP/BB/HBP.
Down 1-0, could be worse
Abel is unable to throw strikes?
Let him finish this inning and then pull him.
Scratch that.
And the hitting is awful!
Or lack thereof.
Man, the Beaver offense is non-competitive, are they at something like 3 runs over the past 30 plus innings now? That’s enough of a sample against P-12 pitching to say I’m concerned. This is aluminum bat college baseball for godsake. Abel getting shelled again also. 4-0 Wazzu
Pull him!
Big difference in these two pitchers tonight, Coug consistently ahead in the count and ZERO BB/HBP/WP.
Abel?…….pretty much the opposite.
Too late Dorman….
Deep bullpen but not using it.
Has Canham anointed Abel as the clear Friday night guy because of his WS performance?
Is he hesitant to pull him or move him down the pecking order because of that?
Tonight isn’t the first time Abel has started slow and damaged himself with HBP/BB/WP.
He definitely hasn’t looked like the Abel of old.
You see it, I see it; you can bet his team mates see it.
This is a test for Canham, not sayin’ you don’t give Abel another Friday start but the leash has got to shorten.
Look on the bright side, we can’t hit…..
He’s got no run support!!!!!!!
Let’s take a look,
vs KSU – Beavs didn’t score until the 8th and Abel was long gone.
vs Grand Canyon – Beavs scored one run while Abel was pitching. 3 more after he left.
vs BYU – No runs while he was in the game.
vs Oregon – No runs
vs WSU – No runs
So he needs to throw shutouts every game if he is going to win. Likely pressing now since the offense has given him ONE run during his time on the mound.
Fun stat – Abel hasn’t lost a lead all year!
He has got to stop damaging himself with WP/BB/HBP. Sure, some of that is due to pressing but he can only control his own performance. Have you notice how often he is behind in the count?
The Abel of old though was never good for a full season. When he was on, he was on. 2018 he came on strong and then was stellar in the World Series. I hope he can figure things out. He is electric when he is on. Still coming back from injury. Different pitching against competition.
This^^
Still needs runs…
I don’t think anyone is arguing that the bats have struggled.
The matchup vs OK st is going to be a tough one to evaluate. In one regard, they finished ranked 11/12 in the polls. On the other hand, the analytics aren’t as friendly to them. Kenpom, netrankings and espn BPI has them in the 30s. Tennessee was better in the all the analytics but was unranked. Ok St played last 8 games of the season vs tourney teams going 6-2 and beating a 1 seed in Baylor so they finished the year relatively hot.
Beavs don’t have any advantages at any position. It’s harder to see a clear winning game plan. Beavs matched up better to Tennessee’s lineup and took advantage of the injury to create mismatches.
Fun fact – Cunningham’s brother is an assistant coach, hired one year before he committed.
When MBB wins the baseball team sucks!
No hits going into the bottom of the six. The baseball team is is for opposing pitchers what the football team is for opposing rushers.
USA Today on OSU, TENN:
“I’m disappointed, just sorry we didn’t give them more competition really,” said Tennessee coach Rick Barnes. “We had no inside game. They were certainly packed back in there, daring us to make threes and we had some looks and they didn’t go down. We didn’t get much on the offensive boards the way we needed to.”
https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaab/2021/03/19/march-madness-tennessee-upset-oregon-state-first-round/4773890001/
Are we a basketball school now?
One more win and I’d say yes.
Haven’t seen it posted, tourney game vs Oklahoma State at 6:40 PT Sunday evening
Thx
Thanks.
Sedge had previously posted a 9 am PDT start, but you’ve got it right.
Now Sunday sets up nicely for Beavs sports: Baseball at 1:05, WBB at 4:30, and MBB 6:40.
Go Beavs!
Note: OSU Beavers dot Com says the live stats for MBB will be available, that wasn’t the case vs Tenn.
Here is the link given, we’ll see tomorrow if it actually works:

Gonna be Gottlieb v. Gottlieb.
They had to let Gregg go in the offseason. He’s with Grand Canyon women’s bball now.
Didn’t realize Sean Miller-Moore played for Grand Canyon. So both he and McLoughlin ended up on tournament teams.
Is this proof that Tinkle’s not that bad of a recruiter and player retention has been the bigger issue?
He looked like potential to me at times last year..
And they are both going home.
Colorado slams the door on a red-hot Georgetown team. A lot of people chose this matchup as the most likely 12-5 upset.
It was the Ewing effect
Back to our friendly discussion of Kevin Abel’s performance. Here’s what the new guy at the GT writes: “Abel cruised through 4 2/3 innings and held the Cougars to just one run while striking out six…”
The writer, Canham, and others are, I believe, focused on strikeouts and the great story of Abel in the WS and his return from surgery. Very admirable accomplishments.
But, “cruised through 4.2 innings”?
To get the 14 outs that brought us to 4.2 innings, Abel had given up 1 HBP, 3 BB, 1 WP, and 3 hits. He was behind more often than ahead of the count and would have, very likely, given up another run if not for Claunch cutting down a basestealer right before a double by Manzardo. Is that “cruising”?
After that second out in the t5, the next 5 AB’s were: a double, single, HR, walk, and a single. In only one case (the guy who walked) was Abel ever ahead in the count. Yet, he was left in.
I’d very much like to see Kevin throw a no hitter next Friday. I’d like to see his team score more than 4 or 5 runs to support him. I’d like to see Canham/Dorman help him.
I noticed in the GT article that the Cougs last night “Instead of starting ace right-hander Zane Mills, their typical Friday night starter, the Cougars instead went with junior Brandon White. “
Sometimes ya gotta make a change, maybe Mitch will consider that over the next few weeks.
Go Beavs!
Lineup posted. Jones returns to cf, Hamilton catching, Kasper/Forrester hitting 2/3, and Casey to the pine.
Only 3 starters over .300 today.
Aren’t there only 4 guys over .300 on the whole team?
Ober ground out drives in Dukart who doubled, 1-0
Have the cougs been any good traditionally? Just heard warren say that they had the 29th recruiting class and 5th juco.
I can’t watch Beav baseball right now, so many at-bats are just not competitive. I don’t have the patience for it.
Garrett Forrester drives in Jones with an RBI single 2-0 good guys
Mcmahan double drives in Ober 3-0
McDowell bunt single drives in Mcmahan 4-0
Small Ball !!!!!
Wild pitch scores another 5-0 beavs
Right after I say I can’t watch right now, they start scoring runs!
Another wild pitch on a walk to forrester scores McDowell, 6-0 still B4
Wong does the job, sending Forrester to 2nd on the WP BB when the Coug catcher slept.
Dukart double scores Brady Kasper 7-0
We been robbed!!
Anyone else think Forrester was clearly safe at home?
Ober scores on ball 8-0 Beavs

Saturday’s first-round game between No.7 Oregon and No. 10 VCU has been declared a no-contest because of COVID-19 protocols within VCU’s program, the NCAA announced. Oregon automatically advances to the second round.
Did VCU just infect everyone?
I thought they had alternate teams for this exact reason?
Infected each other.
Alternate teams were only going to be used if a team went out by last Tuesday. Committee would have reseeded then. Too late now.
So it’s technically possible for a team to win the whole thing without playing a game?
Sure. It would be no different if the other team has massive injuries and couldn’t field a team.
Has that ever happened?
Oregon has to have benefitted the most of any team so far from covid in basketball and football. Backed into a championship in football and now a free advancement in basketball. The team moves on without expanding any energy.
Yeah, but we get to think less of their “win”…court of public opinion is a thing.
In other news Uncle Phil misplaced a duffle bag full of money somewhere in the VCU chancellor office.
Luck o’ the Ducks! Fuckin’ bastards!
Garrett Forrester 2 run moon shot makes it 10-1
Good win by baseball today. Bats finally came alive!
I liked the lineup today – some new(er) faces, maybe that’ll shake things up and keep the bats going.
Interesting that Canham shakes up the lineup but hasn’t done much with the starting pitchers.
He’s learning. Moved from the 3b box to the dugout and now gets a better sense of the vibe. Who may be complacent, who is hungry, how is each individual reacting to how things are going, etc, etc.
That’s right. Like how osu moved on as well over arizona, for doing nothing.
I just attended a private birthday party on Youtube. They hired this famous jazz musician to perform. It was incredible. Better than a real party in a lot of ways. “You can’t stop modern science.” – George Costanza
Heads up, angry………I’ve scheduled a post for tomorrow morning to cover all three games. Check it out and send to trash if you’d rather keep this current post going.
No, that’s good. I couldn’t draft anything til the AM, so if you handled it, great.
Who was the musician?
Cool, we hired members of the jazz group Oregon to play at our wedding years ago. I didn’t know much about them, but they have quite a discography, recorded for some major labels in their time.
Good day for the PAC12. All teams advanced fairly comfortably.
UCLA has a great shot at the sweet 16 with Texas getting upset. Everyone else faces higher seeds now.
And Oregon winning by default
