Why I hated Larry Scott over a year and a half ago:

I didn't know it would play out exactly this way, but I did know that a guy like Larry Scott cannot be trusted. He put the contract above the fan (no surprise) and gave monopolies control over the content. People still think this guy is a genius? What good is a record setting TV deal if fans can't watch the games?

  1. People still think this guy is a genius? What good is a record setting TV deal if fans can’t watch the games?

Schools are getting millions of extra dollars. He has done great things to help the conference. Oh and I have comcast. Channel 720 in HD and I get tons of Pac12 coverage. Yeah, he is effin great!

This isn’t the first or the last time DirectTV has tried to play hardball with a provider. They did the samething a few years ago with Versus/NBC Sports, because it was owned by Comcast. Sucks if you have them, but I don’t see this as a Larry Scott issue. DirectTV has done this before and screwed their customers before.

    • How is it not a Larry Scott issue when he gave into provider demands and/or didn’t have the foresight to see content in the hands of monopolies would be bad for fans?

And I am not even talking about my experience–heck, I didn’t even pony up to buy cable this year. I’m talking about the thousands/millions of people in CA who can’t watch OSU games, even on Comcast, and the others who have to switch from their current provider to one that does have the network. It’s an absolute disaster. Just because it’s not a disaster for you, doesn’t mean it is not a disaster.
DirectTV has done this before and screwed their customers before.
Exactly why he should have seen it coming! Likely did, and didn’t care.

      • “It’s an absolute disaster.”

Hurricanes, fires, tornados, floods, earthquakes, etc are disasters. DirectTV not caring the Pac12 network is far, far, far from a disaster.

You just love to whine and complain, its what youre site is built upon so I understand that I need to expect that when I come here. Just cracks me up how far you’ll reach though to complain. Oh, Pac12 network isn’t on DirectTV. Oh Larry Scott is awful, he’s an idiot. I could do it better, bla bla bla.

        • Yeah, and compared to living through an earthquake, being dead is a disaster. What is your point? That things are relative? I get it. But we’re talking about football here, and in terms of football, this is a disaster. “Whining” that fans in Pac-12 country cannot watch Pac-12 games is not really whining. And if you don’t like the site, don’t read it. And if you hate me, make a site dedicated to whining about me–you’re doing enough of it on here to write your own blog about it.

    • Having had both, I’d take DirecTV over Comcast any day. They play hardball because they know if their monthly bill continues to rise, people will leave. Plus these media conglomerates try to force feed people all the shitty channels they provide. I should be able to pick the channels I want and not pay for ones that I don’t watch. The internet has my back on this one.

Saying DirecTV is wrong for playing hardball with Comcast or the Pac-12 is just inane.

  2. Why can’t people ever understand CONTEXT? In the realm of college football fandom, this is a disaster of epic proportions. Almost as bad as the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs and hurricane Katrina…. combined!

Larry Scott deserves a Serena Williams forehand to the mid-section for this one.

  3. Why can’t people just move to Corvallis. Great jobs at H-P and great cultural events that are second to none in the entire country. There is no better place on earth and to live somewhere else is uncomprehensible.

  4. Wow, cleanup efforts are stating for Hurricane Isaac and it has practically died off… This is pathetic. If they would have waited for the scheduled release of the decision tonight we may have had a damn game.

  5. Has anybody had any success with the new Pac-12 Apple iPad/iPod/iPhone app? I have Andriod so I’ll have to wait to see how it works since that app hasn’t been delivered yet. Just wondering what the Apple verison does?

    • No joy on iPad app with Comcast. The ap sends you to xfinity which needs adobe flash, so no joy for iPads. Gone out of their way to be stupid on this one.

      • Nice, thanks Pac-12!

So let me get this straight…..They’ve created a Pac-12 app, which sends users to the Xfinity TV app, which will show users games on TV with advertising for the Pac-12 app. Nice circular logic. Somebody actually gets paid for these ideas.

  6. Due to the Pac-12 deal you will see more games than last year, period. Any extra $$$ for Comcast is about the same as the price for one game ticket without the required donation. Quit bitching and prioritize your entertainment dollars. If you are a Beaver fan it is a no brainer. Angry is just being Holier than Thou.

How come you never bitch that DirectTV has an NFL monopoly. Larry Scott has done a great job. To expect everything to be perfect in the beginning is naive. Think of all the new technologies in your jobs and tell me every rollout was perfect. Once again the sky is falling with Angy’s flock.

Ok cue the “you hate my site so get out and never come back”

    • The Beavs are in the NFL?

Expect everything to be perfect? If that’s what you understand, then you need to go back to elementary school for some remedial comprehension lessons. How about as promised? Or, better, how about just normal with a few issues according to the parameters promised?

I’m not really upset right now with Scott or Directv. I’ll find workarounds if I need to. But I’m also not responding to upset fans with my really really weak counters.

Can we get some pollyannas with half an ability to form a decent argument please?

Or do they all just want me to spend all of five minutes coming up with a counter-argument 400% more biting than these murky little quips of theirs? Because that will take only a small effort.

        • Of course I have an opinion on everything. So do you bright boy. Mine just comes as a rational argument. You apparently do not understand anything but fallacy, thus you can neither comprehend nor write with reason.

And you’re correct, I said nothing. I typed it all without moving my mouth. I didn’t know that was required. Sorry.

          • You can say things by speaking, written, facial expression, body language, actions to name a few. This is Intro to Communications. For someone who wants everyone to think how educated you are, Liberal Jack this makes you sound stupid.

I don’t have an opinion on many things. Many things on this site like hunting or which beer you like. I like Drop Top, red wine and Crown Royal Black Label and don’t care what others drink.

Once again above you said nothing.

  7. Jack you truly are in your own little world aren’t you. You don’t have to regularly read this site for a while to understand that you are very liberal, self-absorbed and bi-polar with tendencies of howling at the moon.

I’m done with you for now.
