I like our chances against Arizona. I’m starting to believe. The Beavs are a better team than Arizona on both offense and defense. That should equal a win. Bonus since it’s on the road and that the only place we can win conference games.
Beavs are slowly moving up the SP+ rankings, now at #68 overall (#33 offense, #102 defense). That’s up 28 spots from the beginning of the season.
After starting the year ahead of only Kansas among oower 5 conference teams, OSU is now ahead of Rutgers, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Kansas, Stanford, Northwestern, Colorado, West Virginia, and Illinois.
Arizona is #58 overall (#21 offense, #101 defense)
Not sure how many games Beavs could win but should be at least competitive in most. Beavs have had a little luck facing backup QBs. But wins are wins.
AZ – another backup QB? Tate isn’t what he used to be. Runs much less. Likely due to previous injuries. Will have a shot to win if they get out front early. 50/50 chance here.
UW – no chance if UW has their starter at QB. They have too much talent for the Beavs to overcome. Beavs could win if UW makes a lot of unforced errors. 5% chance.
ASU – Similar to Cal but with a better QB. Again, ASU will have to make a lot of mistakes. 30% chance. Herm has done a much better job than expected. Need it to be a cold rainy windy day for the Beavs to have an advantage.
WSU – Games in late Nov in Pullman are tough to win. Will have to use the run game to win. Beavs don’t match up well to Leach’s offense. 30% chance.
ASU should be close too. Be nice to get one good showing at home. Their QB is struggling lately. They could have a similar record to ours but they have won a couple more close games unlike Beavs. It turns out Michigan State is terrible as is Wazzu. The loss to Colorado should give us hope.
Who does Oregon have that is better than our skill guys on O? Herbert has regressed, their TE is done, Hodgins is better than all their WR’s combined and we have 3 serviceable RB’s who don’t rely on holds to get to the outside. I guess they have a better kicker?
Their D is fast and their short passing game is pretty good.
Overall not too impressive a team and Beavs could have a shot. I think they have the worst shot vs Washington. Way more physical a team and they will kill us.
I agree their d is fast but think we have a shot. I also agree about Washington’s physicality. I dont think any team left is unbeatable however. Could very well get killed by Washington tho. It’s so hard to tell with this team and the pac this year.
I think AZ is our only legit shot at a win.
Don’t be blinded by the Cal game…their QB play was the difference. Beavs don’t handle physical play well at all. Unless that changes, which is unlikely midseason, physical teams will destroy us. AZ is probably the least physical team remaining, and their QB doesn’t run much anymore and hasn’t played well, so I think that’s the last good shot. Oregon and WSU are fairly soft on D so outside shots there. ASU is decent, and their QB is pretty good/mobile…he’ll be the difference maker. If we win AZ and have 4 wins that’s probably a successful year. Should be 5 or 6, though, had Smith not made errors.
I don’t think I’m blinded by the game I know modster missed some wide open throws and wasn’t a burner with his legs. I just think you cant tell what you’re going to get week to week from the Beavs and the rest of the pac 12. I also haven’t watched a whole lot of the other teams.
I’d argue Luton is a better passer than Herbert. Herbert is obviously a better athlete and can keep plays alive.
Any team with quacks defense has a chance to win every game. That’s what was nice about the Cal game. Beavs D had a huge impact (need to see that against good teams as well).
One of the things that I saw and I don’t know if they had done it yet was move the pocket. We all know Luton isn’t mobile so it’s a nice way to confuse the pass rush and give him a clean pocket.
I have been thinking about the future and I have to say that I am feeling pretty good. I thought a great way to get some perspective on the next 2 years is to look at the talent we are losing this coming year.
QB: Jake Luton
RB: Artavias Pierce
WR: Aaron Short, Andre Bodden, Isiah Hodgins (Maybe)
TE: Noah Togiai
OL: Clay Cordasco, Gus Lavaka, Blake Brandel
LS: Keegan Firth
P: Daniel Rodriguez
K: Jordan Choukair (aw shucks)
OLB: Nobody
ILB: Shemar Smith
DL: Jeromy Reichner (probs gets hardship), LaMone Williams, Elu Aydon
DB: Shawn Wilson, Jalen Moore
I don’t see any position where we have nobody already in place to step up. There are plenty of good players leaving (AP, Elu, DRod, Noah, Shemar) and the offensive line hits will hurt in terms of experience. In my book we are positioned really well with game experience and some talent for the next couple years.
Couple of interesting Portland baseball related items tonight.
Someone from 247 is reporting Pat Casey and the ownership group are in talks about having him coach the team(if we land a team)
Also interesting, to me, was they finally reached out to me tonight about a contest I won back in July. They were originally supposed to send me to the Hillsboro Hops to catch a game with their ownership group in The VIP boxes, plus some seag/gear and a signed Russel Wilson PDX baseball cap. But, for whatever reason that fell apart and they said they’ll get back to me with a better replacement prize.
But, they’ve been slow to respond since then, so I figured they weren’t going to come through.
But suddenly tonight, the guy i had been in contact with reached out to me asking for my shipping address. And his tone was pretty upbeat and excited.
Leads me to think these 2 things are related and maybe PDX diamond project is close to announcing a new team for Portland.
Yes, i’m jumping to conclusions. But I dont think this is coincidence that both things happened tonight.
Do you think Casey would be a good fit for the pros? I just dont see him lasting long in that game. Hes a good coach but I dont think he could handle the egos.
After watching the body cam video, which was pretty much exactly what I expected it to be, I’d say Ed Ray owes the OSP and that particular officer an apology for the embarrassing, unbelievably ignorant public comments he made about the arrest. The girl got her 15 seconds of fame, and Ed Ray showed his ass yet another time. The sooner he pulls the plug the better.
I watched it this morning. Pretty much what I expected as well. Another dumb, ignorant snowflake who “feels” the law doesn’t apply to them. And when called out on her bullshit, she cries racism.
It’s really getting old. Martin Luther King Jr is probably rolling over in his grave right now.
Which law? Riding on the wrong side of the road. Or not having to I’d yourself at a stop? Because he has a right to detain someone who refuses to I’d themselves until they are id’d.
Most laws. Had a cop try to tell me I didn’t have legal right of entry once even after I showed him the exact ORS. Like a lot of fields there are good and bad people on the force but average IQ is low for the group as a whole.
So by her logic, police not only need to execute the law, but also need to be able to clerk out the exact state, local and federal laws/statues/regulations on the spot before she needs to comply. This is off campus, on a regular two way street, it was for her own good she was stopped for riding in the wrong lane.
I am actually impressed with the policemen’s constraint, after about 5 minutes of watching the video I was cussing at her for being a dumb ass.
If the media hadn’t told me she was not white… I wouldn’t have known… the cop didn’t know until she told him!
Watching this video makes me weep for the future… so obnoxious.
When I was in college I had to walk home late at night from a part-time job, I had longish hair and got stopped by the police three times. Once they mumbled something about robberies in the area, the others they didn’t even bother with a reason. I didn’t like it, but I was polite and showed my ID each time instead of arguing. Fortunately, my Mom’s best friend owned a laundromat and she had the police uniform account. She called them and told them to leave me the fuck alone. I was never stopped again.
Pretty crazy to see the Beavs ranked 7th in the nation in TFL and 21st in sacks. We haven’t seen those kinds of numbers in ages. The progress is nice, but I do think they’ve done it against some very flawed teams. The next step would be to not get run over by one of the better teams coming up.
Beavs are now officially the only team left in the FBS without a lost fumble. #1 in something anyway!
I have been thinking about that very idea about flawed teams. How many complete teams are there in college football in each conference? We focus on the Beavs a lot and see the many flaws. After watching them play all opponents this year, the only team they have played I think is pretty solid is Utah. There is a lot of parody in college football. You see Wisconsin lose to Illinois. There are some clear top teams that know how to show up every weekend. They play 5 more flawed teams this year. Go Beavs!
I think excluding Arizona, they play better overall teams in the remaining five games. I would like to see what happened against Utah not happen against Washington or Oregon. Be competitive is the ask.
My dad and I went to a game in the 99-00′ season when Chad Johnson went sideways and reached back for a ball. That game was at night and freezing cold. It’s a good stadium to watch a game like TurdBurglar said. There’s a lot of interesting things to do in Tuscon as well.
I’ve been there a few times, road trips only. No water for my yacht.
Seriously: good tailgate vibe, especially on that road that runs by the arena. Even with a day game the sun shouldn’t be too bad this late in the season. One of the most memorable Beav games for me occurred there in 2009; improbable come from behind victory in which a missed extra point helped us, ironically. Gronk played in that game.
No idea, but might explain why he left. He already has numerous connections to that group. Or maybe he’s looking at a support role?
Either way, the news is coming from a blog site, so I dont know how reliable it is yet. He runs a wordpress blog. Sound familiar?
I’m pretty suspicious though since their marketing team connected with me tonight too.
Ideally, I’d like to see them move onto the Lloyd Center site. I know the riverfront pier site would look cooler, but it would be a logistical nightmare for transportation for most people.
First order of business for Coach Casey: Trade for Adley, Larnach, Madrigal, and Grenier. Seems like pros is a whole different ballgame. I’m not sure the player development/young men piece is there in pros like it is in college.
Good News: he wouldn’t have to deal with Barnes/lack of funding.
The one thing Coach Casey is good at is spotting talent, and potential in a player. MLB is less about development and more about attention to detail. I would be curious if Coach Casey could keep his players from being arrogant and require them to give back to the community in some capacity. There are a lot of hospitals in Portland, especially for kids.
MLB is not expanding until the Tampa and Oakland situations settle down. Tampa is a prospect for relocation but Montreal is already penciled in. Keeps the AL east together; massive improvement actually. Oakland is the franchise to pursue, but with the Raiders and Warriors leaving that community will pull out all the stops to keep the A’s
agree the team to pursue in the A’s. still a lot of hurdles to overcome and ultimately not likely to happen. key will be getting stadium shovel ready or built so they can seize the opportunity if/when it presents itself. but mark my words, if they can build a stadium and secure a team, Portland will support MLB.
A couple questions:
1) Sure, a portion of Portland will support MLB. But, will that support be dependent on the W/L and will it be enough to make economic sense for the investors? I don’t know what the business model requires but I seriously doubt, absent a winning team, that that nut will be cracked.
2) What impact would Portland MLB have on Beavs baseball?
They say they have all funding secured(for purchasing a team and building a stadium) through private ownership interests, outside of some public bonds which have already been approved.
Agreed. As much as I would love to see Portland with an MLB team, whenever I went to see the Portland Beavers, there were maybe 3,000 fans in the seats up until it folded. Also factor in the weather for a longer MLB season, no bueno.
Portland is full of soccer geeks who’d rather go watch players run around for 90 minutes ending in a 1-0 score. This is entertaining and baseball is slow and boring.
look at the Hillsboro Hops team. They have a good following and the Portland Beavers Civic Stadium, then PGE Park, now it’s been remodeled for the Timbers games. There are a lot of different fan bases all around the portland metro area. The Blazers are managing to get a good following in Portland. Other teams will be able to come into Portland that people support. I could see it being split where allegiances to teams like the Mariners, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, LA Dodgers, etc. would bring a draw of fans in to keep it more of a neutral site, but with success, I could see getting a new fan base going to “Support our only second Pro Team!” Like people do for the Blazers. Just my two cents.
Anybody playing the new Scoreboard gambling yet? I’ve did this past weekend…way too many options to bet on random stuff. (In game betting, golf, darts, Chilean soccer, etc.) Differences from my off shore book: Much easier to fund, no teasers or parlays allowed, once you make a bet on a team–you can’t go back later and bet on them again.
Pat Forde named JS his top PAC-12 coach of the first half of the season. Nice to see him getting some national recognition for the clear improvement we’re all seeing.
GA set a low bar. Yet to see if JS can continue to raise it, but the signs are there.
More food for thought, Wilner’s take on the Beavs chances of bowling:
“The process (of rebuilding) is hardly complete, but it sure appears Smith has the process ahead of schedule.
So far ahead, in fact, that we felt compelled to dive into the Beavers’ bowl math…
There are only three teams the Beavers cannot beat on their best day:
They have played one (Utah).
They don’t play another (USC).
And they don’t need to beat the third (Oregon) to make the postseason.
Everyone else is on their level.
Don’t count on OSU bowling, but don’t dismiss it. “
Included are his thoughts on why OSU could beat everyone left on the schedule except the ucks.
Does he realize they beat a few teams who had their backup QBs in?
They can beat AZ.
The others are long shots (win 1 out of 10 times the play the game). Sure they’re possible, but they’re not probable.
There was a writeup by Bill Connelly that said that UW had efficiency advantages throughout the game vs the ducks, had some kind of win probability quotient in their favor even as the game ended, and based on the stats produced in the game would have been expected to win that game far more often than not. Sounds like the ducks had some luck and fortunate plays on their side in Seattle.
I was messing around on cfbstats to see how this year’s offense and defense stacks up with the 10 previous seasons. Obviously, the season isn’t over yet, but I thought it was fun to look at.
Just looking at yards per play on offense and yards allowed per play on defense.
Not surprising, this offense is better than anything Gary Andersen put on the field, but only 2 of the previous 10 seasons have been better. Only 2013 was significantly better.
The defense is better than 2 of 3 Andersen teams but only better than 1 of the previous 6 Banker defenses, though only 2 are significantly better.
Good signs hopefully. I feel like the coaching is better but the recruiting is the real key. We look faster all over the place.
Sitting where we do today, it’s interesting that talent level was only really an issue in a few areas.
GA’s crew actually recruited well on offense and Woods was a good OL coach so there was a little bit to work with there. We were only ever missing a OC and QB, and we’re much improved in both areas.
LB recruiting was a strength under GA, talent evaluation and getting commits was really lacking at DL and DB. JS and TT are having to play catch up now.
Our difference makers on both sides of the ball were GA recruits (Pierce, Hodgins, right side of the OL, Rashed). Roberts is the only exception I can think of. It’s amazing the difference coaching makes.
See comments like.this alot. He is still learning to be a head coach. Even Saban makes mistakes. Smith will get better with experience just like the players.
From Eggers piece on Dennis Erickson, good to hear: “…He has kept close tabs on the OSU program and has texted often with Smith through the season. He uses “we” and “us” in references to the Beavers.
He also says, “…We’re getting better. They’re doing a good job recruiting. We’re getting better players. (Quarterback) Jake Luton is playing pretty darn good, and the defense is improved. I’m excited about where they’re at.”
Not trying to be harsh, but at this point comments about Luton are pointless. He’s halfway through his final season that caps off a pedestrian career. Maybe if the team goes on a run and makes a bowl game, there’s a story here. Otherwise, he kept another QB (with strong potential) from getting needed experience during a meaningless season.
Exactly. I think I said in week 2 or 3 discussing him is pointless. Stat monkeys won the day to the detriment of the program’s future. Gebbia will still be good but he’s now set back a bit.
I’m being somewhat sarcastic, but unless a program is contending for conference or even division championships, it’s just a lot fucking around. Yes, it matters to local fans and players, but not on a national level. College football is big business but only for the chosen few programs. I’m still trying to figure out how the Ducks manage to stay in the conversation until the last possible minute every year!
They’ve made themselves a national brand. Their mascot is always on the friggin commercials. So now there is a perception that they’re always better than they actually are. Just how their qb is always a heisman hopeful.
Noticeable in the linked piece is the quote from Isaiah Hodgins. Some have opined that Hodgins speaks highly of Luton only because he selfishly sees Luton’s reliance on him as keeping him (Hodgins) in the spotlight.
Here he gives props to Bradford as a guy whose focus is on the TEAM.
Seems to me Hodgins is simply a well spoken and team focused person himself. You decide:
“Trevon just always brings that big-play ability… It’s definitely something that we miss.”
“I know it could be really hard when it’s your senior season and you have to redshirt now because of an injury, but he has done a good job of keeping his head up and giving his all for the team and being all in,” Hodgins said. “That’s definitely a teammate that we all strive for everyone to be like. He’s definitely a leader and someone I look up to and someone I think everyone should look up to, especially when you’re in a situation like that.”
247 has a composite team rankings list. Interesting to see which programs are overachieving and underachieving (Stanford, Florida State). Injuries can affect this but it shows which plays are currently on the roster. Beavs rank at #57
Third and anywhere from 6 to 12, BIG JIM often advises the view that you’ll use TWO rushes to reach the line to gain. In other words, eschew the automatic punt mentality along with the automatic pass.
JIM would approve of this approach last week by Lindgren: “With the ball at the Cal 40, … Luton threw two incomplete passes, setting up a crucial third-and-10.
…Pierce … burst through the left side for a 20-yard pickup that at worst set them up for a potential game-tying touchdown.
“The thought was maybe (they were) not expecting a run there, maybe you do get it like we did or maybe you get half of it and you set yourself up for an easier fourth-down conversion,” Lindgren said, noting that the Beavers would have gone on fourth down from that position on the field. “It’s nice knowing you have the ability to go for it there. It makes it a little easier to call.”
NOTE: the author (lazy Steve Gress, who the GT retained when they let Lundeberg go) must have meant “potential game-tying fieldgoal”
Smith and Lindgren definitely take their fair share of risks, but going for it on fourth down at the opponent’s 35 isn’t exactly the most radical playcalling.
I always understood that OSP was on campus, at least partially, because of the Oregon State TRIGA Reactor at The Schools Radiation Center. Urban legend??
And, yes, Ray should step down now. The Corvallis Police Chief was more of an educator than Dr. Ray when he said of the uproar over the recent bicycle incident, “We have to make sure the politics in the community don’t outpace the facts.”
Unfortunately, I think the cat was out of the bag with The Oregonian’s kill shot, but Ray could have stepped up, he even had the law on his side if he cared to use the facts. He obviously did not.
order of culpability for the entirety of the Hemlich fiasco: his former sister-in-law; Ed Ray; idiot reporter for the Oregonian and Mark Katches, the editor; Benton Co. DA and law enforcement
Yeah, that is what I was told too. If that is not the case no real reason for OSP to be on campus. Sounds like a win for OSU. In my encounters with OSP and CPD they are more interested in handing out citations than investigating crimes.
Yes, by federal law, OSP must provide security services for the OSU TRIGA.
People are gleefully saying “OSP is leaving OSU; thus OSU NSE program is being cut because of lack of security.” Nope. The NSE department is way too valuable to the university to have our program defunded. In terms of providing actual value to the nuclear industry and getting grants, OSU NSE is probably the best in the US.
Really? how hard is it to follow the law and be polite? She broke a law, be an adult and own up to it instead of blaming race gender etc. As soon as she said she wouldnt talk that cop had I right to detain her, she also had the right to not give him any info either, but what does that accomplish? Nothing but her newly found race baiting street cred.
BTW, if you watched the video, she was polite, and so was the cop, until he wasn’t. You can hear the point where he loses his cool and that’s when it goes down hill.
There is no reason this couldn’t have been handled with a verbal warning and everyone goes on their way. He’s just as much to blame for needing to show his authority and being unable to deescalate the situation. Again, there were six cops (that you can see on video) for one small girl, already in handcuffs.
And if you wait to the end of the video you can hear two of the officers working out details on their excuse..’The only people who refuse to give id are felons and people with warrants. Yeah that’s right Bob, good citizens always give their id right away. I was in fear for my life. Me too’
In oregon bikes are treated as vehicles on the road, and are given right-of-way responsibilities as such. So a either she follows the rules of the road or she gets a ticket/warning. Pretty simple. Would you brush it off if a car was driving on the wrong side of the road? No you wouldnt. She got exactly what she was looking for, race baiting street cred.
As for the 6 cops, I didnt see all 6 jump on her to arrest her. Is there some sort of maximum amount of cops that can stand around during an arrest? I’m intrested to know why it matters how many are there? Or are you just a cop hater?
How many cops are required for a small girl in handcuffs to get her in a car and move along to actual policing? Was that a question? Well if it takes a minimum of six, they are doing something wrong. One would think they could spend their time doing something productive. Except it’s more fun to roll through town with lights on and act like a tough guy leaning on a trash can, apparently.
Would I brush it off if she was in a car? She wasn’t in a car. DERP. The fact remains, you are not required to have a license for a bike.
I don’t hate cops, I don’t care for the militarization of today’s LEO however. And their complete inability to deescalate a situation because they have small dicks doesn’t help, either. Yelling ‘respect my authority’ is a sure fire way not to get it.
In oregon by law bikes = cars. So she broke the law. Do we ignore it because shes black? Or do we ignore it because laws are dumb?
And yes you are a cop hater. Militarization of cops? Ok I get that. This cop was on a bike, in bike shorts. Hard to be an operator in bike shorts.
I’m of the beilef that being a police officer is one of the most difficult jobs there is. I’ve treated every officer I’ve interacted with respectfully, I’ve always been kind and complied with whatever requested. I’m also a generic looking white dude, and have never been worried about being treated improperly. All that being said while being a student living on campus, I was entrapped and lied to by OSP after compliing with everything the officer requested. OSP officers 100% looked me in the eye and lied straight to my face and issued a citation they said they wouldn’t as long as I complied. I just lived with it and let it go because life is easier that way. This gal probably would have benefitted from handling it that way. But she grew with different life experiences.
I’ve also been present when officers have taken a different and freindlier tone with me then my friends of different races. And in this particular situation, even though the officer may have technically been in the right that she wasn’t riding in the proper location, it’s a gross waste of resources and misuse of time. Obviously hastelling something so petty just because he’s bored.
And they do look like real tough guys tackling this 100 pound girl and slamming her on the ground when she was just standing there talking. Not trying to evade. They really taught her a lesson. Honestly the whole thing is pretty ridiculous.
The girl was not in the least cooperative after having violated a traffic law. The cop was patient and finally just had enough of her mouthy attitude and failure to obey a few simple requests. She needlessly played the race card, despite the fact that she is light skinned, because it works. This was not a racist incident and labeling it as such obscures the student’s immature antics and the real cause of this incident.
I agree the girl is dumb but the cop is dumb too. It is basically like getting pulled over for going 1 mph over the speed limit. Cops can and should use a little discretion is all.
I keep seeing analysts say that we have a better chance of beating UW than Oregon. To me our worst matchups are teams with physical mean lines (review Utah for extreme example) and UW has the best lines of that description left on the schedule. I don’t see a realistic chance there at all without luck and a ton of bad play by UW. Oregon has speed on D but isn’t all that physical. Their offense is the weakest I have seen it since Masoli showed up at Reser and ran all over us like he was stealing laptops from a frat house.
I just don’t see the matchups that the analysts seem to?
I haven’t watched UO play, but I thought the HC was building from the D and O lines, and that each line was well regarded? Saw some blurb about their FR DE having an incredibly quick burst.
UW seems like a bad matchup and a game to skip. But unlike Andersen playing the clear Beta dog to Wittingham’s alpha, I don’t think Smith will be so deferential to his former boss. I just think UW has the match up advantages with the exception of Hodgins and OSU RBs being above in talent level. Problem is, they can focus on Hodgins given there’s not consistent play from the other WRs.
I see a ton of speed on their D and plenty of burst but they don’t have that steam roller effect that really physical D lines have (Utah). Speed is hard to deal with but when you are lacking in talent it’s down right hopeless to deal with guys that toss you around. Their OLine looks pretty good but again I don’t often see them rolling out big holes. I would say they are well disciplined and solid but again not incredibly physical. They get to the next level in a hurry for dudes pushing 300 too.
Is there something about the foul line at Gill that makes our teams horrible at FT’s? It seems like we’ve been below average in that department every year for the last 20 years.
Looks like a middle infielder who has been on Australia’s youth national teams practically his whole life. Chosen to the MLB World Select team that looks like it played in an Arizona fall league tournament last year. Can’t find much else on in the internet.
Beavs offered another JC CB last night, Jequari Godfrey. He’s a former USC class of 2017 recruit. Will be official visiting OSU, but not till after the football season is over.
We’ were already going to be extremely thin at CB and Safety next year but then Myles Green Richards retired and Whetzel and Hicks-Onu left the team. We need several players to re-stock those positions.
I noticed Moku-Watson was a practice squad player of the week recently. He had a decent offer sheet. Is he getting any playing time? Great to see Morris back and healthy. Was on the conference defensive team of the week. Will be a good test for new secondary against Arizona. Not the best offense but better than Cal.
Yogi Roth messaged me this morning, asking me to share the link to his recent podcast where he covers the Beavs. I retweeted on twitter but figured I would share it here for the non-twitter crowd.
I only meant it as a sarcastic response to NuclearBeaver not knowing that Nicebeaver ran the ra-crutin’ site.
Guess I should have gone with the moon landing. Bill got it.
California and New York think they should run the show and idiots like you agree. North Dakota and Wyoming just want to have a say. If you want another civil war you can try to force it. But you don’t want another civil war as much as you think you do.
No…. just don’t want to get involved in long boring, pointless political argument. And by the way, you might notice that you first broke out the “idiots” reference. So just STFU.
I used idiots in the course of making a valid point. You don’t have a point other than “orange man bad”, and now you make some pathetic attempt at internet high ground.
Both. Been fans of both bands since the mid 80s.
Brian Baker was actually my inspiration for getting a set of DiMarzio Super Distortions for my Les Paul. Even though he plays P90s now he played SDs forever.
That was pretty cool. Brian Baker has changed his rig completely in the last 10 years. He was always Les Paul with SuperD in to a Mesa. He also would eliminate the tone control on the bridge pickup. I’m not surprised that he’s slowly leaning back toward the humbucker.
I was thinking about Jack a few days ago, and I realized I had two friends who I met online (and met in person, too, later on) who disappeared for about two years each. Then they suddenly reappeared. One had depression and quite the internet/cut off all people due to these problems. The other had some kind of metamorphosis where she came out of her shell and became a “cam whore” lol. Out of the blue after not talking for two years she sent me cam whore videos. She was so quiet and nice before this. I’m not into porn or crazy people so I cut her off. Maybe Jack will reappear? It’s very possible he’s alive just in jail or exploring himself on cam whores. Keep the faith!
He had a cyst on both his kidney and pancreas. Those samples are with pathology now to test for cancer. From what we read, there is a 2% chance a cyst is cancerous, so the percentages are good, but until he is out of woods I don’t want to rejoice. It still could go south if he’s one of the unlucky 2%. He’s still having pain/symptoms as well so we’re not sure what is going on. Thanks, buddy.
Firefox updated two days ago, and since then the Twitter feed is gone for me.
Anyone else having this issue? It’s something with their permissions but unable to figure it out so far.
Interesting on my phone/safari it shows.
Are you on phone or desktop? If desktop see if there are permissions in the URL bar or somewhere else to allow 3rd party cookies.
So it’s something to do with this firefox update. Not sure why the one guy is experiencing it on Safari. It works on Safari for me. It’s at the very bottom on the front page only.
This FF update sucks. In the past you could click the shield at the top and allow the Twitter feed. It’s on lock down now, and I can’t find anywhere in the settings to allow it. I’ll have to write Mozilla.
Looking at stats before we get into the bye – OSU mostly in the 6-7-8 rank range. #1 in Red zone TD efficiency — would most likely be #1 in overall efficiency if had an average kicker. An then #1 in the much discussed turn over category. Good to see the rise up the stats, a good goal would be to end the year in the top 6 regardless of how many more wins. Maintaining the low rate of TOs? I don’t see it happening, hope I’m wrong. Will need to pickup in other areas.
Tex, hopefully you got the soap? Meant to write you but got sidetracked. I’d let the pine tar sit another week before using. When it’s moderate to light brown it’s ready to use. The lavender is ready to go.
Awesome! Let the 2nd bar sit a little longer, and it will be even better (IMO). Pine tar is one of the few bars that gets better with age as the scent fades a bit. If you like a stronger scent use it earlier, though.
That is a good idea but I am hesitant to part with any of my Beaver memorabilia. It has been appreciating at an incredible rate as my status as a legendary coach grows. Who knew when I snuck out of Corvallis on wet December morning.
I have a lot of other collectibles. My front yard contains an incredible collection of used cars, tires, boats;some with trailers, lawn mowers, paint cans old ladders etc. My neighbors are in awe of my collection and are always talking with me about it. The police have even stopped by to admire my effort.
Maybe… we look at some of those articles. Although I would really miss them.
Eggers up with a visit with JS and some thoughtful comments. The piece includes a 14 minute embedded podcast.
For at least the third time, Smith indicates that he isn’t adverse to an occasional interception: “We’re not going into games saying, ‘Don’t throw picks.’ We want to be aggressive…”
I just want the Quacks to lose one more game, so the annoying “natty talk” is silenced. I swear Knight sends “gifts” to the national media to keep the conversation alive until the last possible second.
That would be sweet, but the downside would be another month-plus of Quack playoff talk at a fever pitch and screams of robbery if they are not in the top four. I would rather have them take a loss now AND have the Beavs beat them to send them to a secondary bowl game.
Luke
As previously speculated, Luke did pitch on Thursday. After two 6 inning outings without giving up a run, he lasted only 4.2 innings this time. Gave up 5 runs (only 1 ER, a homer) on 4 hits and 4 BB.
ERA stands at .54
High pitch count, they should of pulled him the inning before. This team is just like his last team, they keep him in until his arm falls off. His pitching reminds me of his games against LSU. Battling, but not sharp
Yo angry the Google results when you search for angry beav cones up with your site but also 5 categories with links. All the links look to be posts from 2009. Just weird not a real problem.
I’m not much of a Twitter user, so no big concern. Feeds are on the home page but go away when I log into a thread. Is that how it’s supposed to work? I’ve whitelisted the site again also. I use a Chromebook.
Eggers up with two articles on Beavs WBB, talks with Rueck and with Slocum.
Rueck discusses each of the new players and says of Aquino’s chances of playing this year or next: “I don’t know”.
Slocum says, “One thing we’ve grown in is defense. Last year, it bit us sometimes at the worst times. We couldn’t stay in front of the ball. Our group of guards have taken a step up in that area, and it will show this season.”
Frosty throwing players under the bus, on big red overreaction…classic, I wonder if there is any other good players that might want transfer to beavs, another Roberts would be great
Says the fucking dicksuck whose entire presence on this site is a cringe worthy weak ass schtick that has never and will never be the slightest bit funny.
Ha. Right. This is you trying to cover for the fact that you got triggered the instant someone mentioned orange man. You still can’t stand the fact that your crusty old statist hag got beat. Get over it cupcake. It’s probably going to happen again.
This reminds me of the time ol Jack got in an argument with another poster and started spouting off “I pwn you, I pwn you” over and over again, like saying it a thousand times somehow makes it true.
Have a nice day Pussybonehead. I hope the air isn’t too thin up on your high horse.
Agree pettibonehead is a lame ass name that’s not funny. Then we have to see his shitty comments that he thinks are funny along the lines of “I’ll donate autographed footballs or some dumbshit. Who the fuck are you to talk shit you lame ass dirtbag?
This has been a really fun season. Get beyond the “Fleckism’s” and you see this guy is a very good coach and a fantastic leader of a program.
Teams have been very disciplined. Ranked #1, 5, & 5 for least penalties against the last three seasons. When the presumed QB starter broke his foot the first practice of fall camp I thought it was another one of those years, but they have hit a stride and are pretty good team.
As I understand, Utah does not control its own destiny in the South. If they end up tied with USC, The Trojans win it (I think) because of their head to head victory.
Yeah I think that’s right. It sucks because I obviously want USC to beat hole but I want to see hole play Utah. If Utah keeps playing D like they have been it would be interesting to see them play an Ohio State or Clemson. See if they’re really that good or if the Pac12 is just soft.
I want an Oregon vs. Utah Pac-12 Championship. I honestly feel Utah is the best Pac-12 team this year. Oregon has played Auburn and lost. Let’s give Utah a shot in the Rose Bowl.
Oregon’s OL looked like ours under GA. They’re really good run blockers, but look vulnerable in pass protection. WSU was getting decent pressure only rushing 3 or 4.
The fun part is that I’m not even a Trumper in real life. It’s just so entertaining to watch the Hillary crew hyperventilate and stomp their feet and cry this far past the election. I just can’t help myself.
You care ’cause you responded. I’m a Trumper, and your vitriol is uncomfortable. Raging on “libtards” was fun for a month in ’16. Having that rage three years later is disturbing.
Referring to yourself/himself in the third person. Never a good sign. This stopped being about Trump a long time ago. Degenerated into a strange case of just plain odd angry, abusive behavior. Curious to watch the downward spiral.
Whaddya Think?
Seriously, what allows Verdell to break into the second level? It looked like WSU had everyone on the LOS except for DB’s; why were there no LB’s a yard or 2 behind the DL? Were they there and shifting to the LOS? Were they often blocked by O linemen?
I realize Verdell is quick and phils O line pretty good, but what did you see there? Not gonna take time to look for replays, but wonder if I missed something in real time. Thoughts?
I only watched highlights but what I saw was sellout blitzes and horrid second level play. If you can get a sec watch the 89 yard run. CJ did a good job of hitting the hole quick and avoiding the rush but 3 dudes in the second level pretty much get blocked by a single receiver.
Other plays I saw alot of bad tackling abd generally getting pushed around.
If there’s one thing we know around here, it’s historically bad defense. Don’t forget that WSU defense put in an historically bad performance against UCLA, of all teams.
I haven’t seen Phil’s offense play a quality defense, but if I mentally superimpose a better unit than WSU’s out there, I don’t see an offense that’s particularly scary.
Here’s the highlight reel of this game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3XbmtCHWiw Speed up to 2:00 minute mark and pause it. You will see WSU has 1 stand up LB over the TE, the other stand up LB is on the weak side shading the C gap/6 hole. 3 down lineman are as follows: DE shading B gap/3 hole, DT Shading the A gap/0 hole, the WDE is shading the B gap/4 hole. The Middle Linebacker(MLB) is right behind the NT by 3 yards or 4 yards off the ball. The Safeties are 5 yards and 7/8 yards respectively. The Strong Safety is shaded way over to the 7 hole shading to the left of the CB. The other Safety is lined up over the right Tackle. So essentially, the only person that isn’t being blocked and can make a play is the Strong Safety. The strong safety at the snap crashes to towards the B gap(where the hole is) and the Center goes to the second level and blocks the MLB while the WR on the strong side blocks the Safety and the CB that is flowing with the WR is still in pass protection when it’s a run. So really, the people that are at fault here is the Safety, CB, MLB in that order. Safety blitzed when he should have stayed behind the MLB, not run right up next to him. The CB is at fault for not recognizing run immediately, but instead watching his Safety get blocked and taking himself out of the play completely. This was horribly defended by WSU and very well/easy blocking assignments for the Ucks. Pause the video at 2:04 and you will see the mayhem that WSU defense caused on themselves.
U talking to me? U and I have an entirely different idea of hilarious. I have standards I guess. I just thought his attack was unwarranted and in no way was I sticking up for him. Everyone talks about low hanging fruit but yet you eat from that tree is comical in itself. Thanks for another unwarranted attack!
When did I say I was a comedic genius? It’s not funny in my opinion but you can attack me if that helps you feel better. I’m on here for football so idk where all this is coming from. The one guy just snapped at wfo for mentioning asu looked pedestrian and I called him out and now everyone has their panties in a bunch.
WFO, thank you for using Farther and not Further…although, in this case, you could have stated, “Angry’s remarking further on a comment from farther up on the blog.” Just for those who need a grammar lesson on the difference between Further and Farther.
Do you guys realize there are places to talk about politics? The internet is full of shit posting places to be dicks and not listen. Maybe we can keep this place about football and leave that dumpster fire to 4chan, Twitter and Facebook.
Humans use ‘intangibles’ like reputation, past success, swagger, demeanor, momentum, recruiting success, coach ability… ect to make value assessments of the future in sports. Mix that with some group think and you get weird results. That said neither human or computer results are all that good at predicting results of individual games or seasons. There is too many variables in most sports to make prediction a very useful tool. The highest success predictions are in sports that have the fewest variables such as individual sports (tennis, golf, swimming, track and field) or where investment and lack of parody create large disparities (formula 1, baseball).
We all know that though and pretty sure it was rhetorical haha
Oh why can there not be more PARITY between the thoughts of my dyslexic brain and the execution of my arthritic hands while jabbing away at my smart phone. Woe to me and my shamed ancestors.
Of course since my brain and body are so messed up maybe typos are a great example of parity in this parody of a body.
The placement and arc Moore put on that TD pass, right before he got shoved by a defender, was great. The kind of play OSU has been missing since he left.
I remember in the big upset USC game where he threw (what I think was) an impromptu shovel pass right before he got hit and created a play with positive yardage.
First bitches!
I predict a 35-0 Beav loss to BYE.
And I won’t be watching.
Silly boy – angry was first
Hope the trend holds lol
First time first
well fuk
Ooh, that hurts.
Go Beavs! One thing’s for sure…we won’t lose this week!!!
Undefeated in BYE weeks!
You can thank the boregonian for jinxing the upcoming loss to Arizona…..
https://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/2019/10/oregon-state-football-on-pace-to-set-ncaa-records-for-fewest-turnovers-and-lost-fumbles-in-a-season.html
I like our chances against Arizona. I’m starting to believe. The Beavs are a better team than Arizona on both offense and defense. That should equal a win. Bonus since it’s on the road and that the only place we can win conference games.
Only wild card is who they play at qb.
Awesome if we played all those power 5’s we’d be 9-1.
A well earned bye week for the team.
30% chance.
Oregon – Same as UW. 5% chance.
AZ is definitely our best chance for another win. UW and yuck are the only ones left that have a huge talent advantage going into the games.
ASU should be close too. Be nice to get one good showing at home. Their QB is struggling lately. They could have a similar record to ours but they have won a couple more close games unlike Beavs. It turns out Michigan State is terrible as is Wazzu. The loss to Colorado should give us hope.
Ya it seems as tho herm’s strategy is to keep it close and try to win it which they seem to do. I’d rather not be in a close one with them.
NFL
They moved the pocket a fair amount in the early season, not sure why they stopped. They do sometimes but not nearly as much.
That’s what he said.
I’ve only been able to watch the first half so far but Lindgren’s play calling was great. D also playing with swagger we haven’t seen in years.
Hamilcar’s a beast. Playing like his high school tape showed he could.
Arizona and Washington State look very winnable, particularly if Wazzu gets blown out against Oregon and their team chemistry continues to spiral.
Five wins is within reach. Should be seven but I’ll take 5 (or even 4) for year 2 of a rebuild.

He thinks the college game was stressful, he will go bat shit crazy in the pros. I’m still pissed at him for retiring at just 59 years old.
I’m just jealous that he can.
Ray is gone in June.
It appeared to me like the cop didn’t know the law…. Which is quite common.
Only if they’re suspected of committing a crime/violation. Which she was, by riding her bike down the wrong side of the street.
Cops cannot just randomly stop you and demand to see your ID. If you’re not being detained you are free to go.
Fun video by a guy that knows his rights and the law better than most law enforcement:
https://youtu.be/v7UMdniHWkI
And to be fair cops have a ton of other responsibilities but the amount of time they spend reading and understanding law is minimal at best.
For the record they violated your constitutional rights. Not that it matters now.

Agree
Maybe parity?
Has anyone gone to a game in Tucson? How is it?
It’s a good stadium to watch a game. Plus you can’t beat the weather this time of year.
^^reply to bandits and mckalk
I chatted with the blogger who posted the Casey news. Sounds like his connections to the Casey news are pretty reliable.
I’ve been told by a member of the family that Pat would be “very” interested if offered the position.
Nothing personal here but mlb to Portland will be either…..
A. Pipe dream
B. An epic failure and the team will relocate.
Portland is not a baseball city. Couldn’t even support a AAA team.
Bad idea and would be a fiscal failure.
Yep.
I totally disagree. MLB in Portland would be wildly successful. No doubt in my mind.
I haven’t really been following the baseball thing. Are they asking for tax payers to foot the bill on a stadium? If so they can fuck right off.
They say they have all funding secured(for purchasing a team and building a stadium) through private ownership interests, outside of some public bonds which have already been approved.
Then batter up! As long as it’s someone else’s money getting pissed away.
The irony of that thinking is astounding.
Either way mlb in Portland is a terrible idea.
Exactly
look at the Hillsboro Hops team.
Hillsboro Hops?
Cool story. Average attendance in 2019 was 3,429. In a 4,500 seat stadium. Even the Hops don’t sell out regularly.
Good try though
Getting a MLB team right now is like is starting a horse and buggy business in 1920.
Leach clearly reads AB.
https://twitter.com/SiddFinch4/status/1186621292046356480
I think the argument can be made that the Quacks have underachieved given all of their advantages. Leach is pointing that out.
Anyone see an update on Shermar Smith? I thought I heard he was carted off the field with a leg injury?
Disregard, I found an update. Day to day with ankle injury.
Glad it’s day-to-day. He was not carted off. He limped off with some help.
His sister Hemar, is a big time b-ball player.
This is confusing. It seems funny, yet so believable I’m not sure what to think.
Everything on the net is true.
Go Beavs!
Anyway..it’s for the kids, right?
I signed up but waiting on them to review my id, mostly I’m just curious though to see if/how it works
Pat Forde named JS his top PAC-12 coach of the first half of the season. Nice to see him getting some national recognition for the clear improvement we’re all seeing.
GA set a low bar. Yet to see if JS can continue to raise it, but the signs are there.
GA was a hands off kind of guy — very much like his defenses. ;)
Not with cheerleaders!!!!
heyooooooooooooo!
Only with the football team. He was very hands on with the cheerleading program though
Included are his thoughts on why OSU could beat everyone left on the schedule except the ucks.
https://www.marinij.com/2019/10/22/pac-12-bowl-projections-the-path-widens-for-oregon-state-did-i-really-just-type-that/
Does he realize they beat a few teams who had their backup QBs in?
They can beat AZ.
The others are long shots (win 1 out of 10 times the play the game). Sure they’re possible, but they’re not probable.
Yeah, and he thinks we’re on the same level as UW somehow.
But hey, nothing wrong with positive press at this point.
Yeah but UW has laid down 2 stinkers vs Stanford and Cal. You’d think they’d be 7-1 but they’re not.
We need some more teams to get their QBs injured the week before we play them.
Mario hasn’t given his #2 much playing time at all; if Herbert goes down that could prove to be devastating.
(to say nothing of prospects for next year)
There was a writeup by Bill Connelly that said that UW had efficiency advantages throughout the game vs the ducks, had some kind of win probability quotient in their favor even as the game ended, and based on the stats produced in the game would have been expected to win that game far more often than not. Sounds like the ducks had some luck and fortunate plays on their side in Seattle.
This dude is delusional.
I was messing around on cfbstats to see how this year’s offense and defense stacks up with the 10 previous seasons. Obviously, the season isn’t over yet, but I thought it was fun to look at.
Just looking at yards per play on offense and yards allowed per play on defense.
Year OFF DEF
2019 5.86 5.93
2018 5.31 7.42
2017 5.18 6.61
2016 5.52 5.76
2015 5.12 6.44
2014 5.57 5.76
2013 6.19 6.14
2012 5.92 5.15
2011 5.46 5.88
2010 5.16 5.68
2009 5.81 5.42
Not surprising, this offense is better than anything Gary Andersen put on the field, but only 2 of the previous 10 seasons have been better. Only 2013 was significantly better.
The defense is better than 2 of 3 Andersen teams but only better than 1 of the previous 6 Banker defenses, though only 2 are significantly better.
Good signs hopefully. I feel like the coaching is better but the recruiting is the real key. We look faster all over the place.
The coaching is better. The stability alone is huge. Smith keeps kicking himself in the nads, though. That needs to end at Stanford.
From Eggers piece on Dennis Erickson, good to hear:
“…He has kept close tabs on the OSU program and has texted often with Smith through the season. He uses “we” and “us” in references to the Beavers.
He also says, “…We’re getting better. They’re doing a good job recruiting. We’re getting better players. (Quarterback) Jake Luton is playing pretty darn good, and the defense is improved. I’m excited about where they’re at.”
Hmmmm….pretty darn good?
https://pamplinmedia.com/pt/12-sports/441519-353831-a-lot-of-love-for-dennis-erickson
His opinion about Luton means nothing. Mentioning it is just an appeal to authority.
Dennis Erickson is appealing to an authority? I don’t think so. That guy has no need to kiss anybody’s ass ever.
Erickson is the authority that a person may be tempted to appeal to. Just because he says he is playing well means nothing.
Also, stats mean nothing.
Are u trying to sound like an idiot? Or are u joking?
His other usernames are “oldretard”, “newretard”, and “doznuts” — what do you think?
Not trying to be harsh, but at this point comments about Luton are pointless. He’s halfway through his final season that caps off a pedestrian career. Maybe if the team goes on a run and makes a bowl game, there’s a story here. Otherwise, he kept another QB (with strong potential) from getting needed experience during a meaningless season.
Exactly. I think I said in week 2 or 3 discussing him is pointless. Stat monkeys won the day to the detriment of the program’s future. Gebbia will still be good but he’s now set back a bit.
Why is it a meaningless season? Tell that to the players. It’s not like the nfl and we’ll get a better draft pick.
Why all the hate? I’m just repeating what I’ve learned here.
Bradford cleared
Trevon can play 4 of the next 5 (6) games and still RS this season.
Presents questions and opportunities for JS and Lindgren.
Downfield threat? Will we now see Luton’s rumored “rocket arm” in a game situation? Improved punt returns?
https://www.gazettetimes.com/sports/beavers-sports/football/osu-football-bradford-cleared-and-ready-to-play-when-called/article_b4355b36-46d8-5335-945f-b61d2e905cda.html
Will he please wear an orthopaedic, special, non-Nike cleat?
Is this the first we’re hearing that he broke and then re-broke his foot?
He wanted to get it right.
Hoping for a Rookie of the Year situation, but he didn’t get any faster.
Ron Callan has a vid up of TJ Baylor talking about the roll over TD. Good attitude on display.
https://twitter.com/roncallan
So the game is Friday. Get to watch in real time for a change.
247 has a composite team rankings list. Interesting to see which programs are overachieving and underachieving (Stanford, Florida State). Injuries can affect this but it shows which plays are currently on the roster. Beavs rank at #57
https://247sports.com/Season/2019-Football/CollegeTeamTalentComposite/
Third and anywhere from 6 to 12, BIG JIM often advises the view that you’ll use TWO rushes to reach the line to gain. In other words, eschew the automatic punt mentality along with the automatic pass.
JIM would approve of this approach last week by Lindgren:
“With the ball at the Cal 40, … Luton threw two incomplete passes, setting up a crucial third-and-10.
NOTE: the author (lazy Steve Gress, who the GT retained when they let Lundeberg go) must have meant “potential game-tying fieldgoal”
https://www.gazettetimes.com/sports/beavers-sports/football/osu-football-offense-delivers-clutch-drive-for-win-at-cal/article_30f3b4b8-9318-51cb-bca5-33459af422e4.html
Smith has said this before. I think that probably has a lot to do with Smith and his staff’s success on 4th down since they’ve been here.
“Will the real Bob Stitt please stand up?”
Smith and Lindgren definitely take their fair share of risks, but going for it on fourth down at the opponent’s 35 isn’t exactly the most radical playcalling.
Correction: “setting up a soul crushing missed FG.”
Story on Heimlich who has a 0.00 ERA through two starts in winter ball
https://www.mister-baseball.com/baseball-mexico-monday-october-21-2019/
Good find.
Seems like his start this week should be today if not yesterday; I believe a 5 day rotation was mentioned somewhere.
Actions have consequences Ed Ray. Maybe he should retire early.
https://www.gazettetimes.com/news/local/state-police-ending-contract-with-osu/article_16d9f04d-ade4-5204-8148-a8bb83b18247.html#tracking-source=home-top-story-2
Tell that to Luke, it was their incompetence that ruined his life and career
Unfortunately, I think the cat was out of the bag with The Oregonian’s kill shot, but Ray could have stepped up, he even had the law on his side if he cared to use the facts. He obviously did not.
No that was the watershed moment…without the corvallis pd fuck up, none of this would of happened.
order of culpability for the entirety of the Hemlich fiasco: his former sister-in-law; Ed Ray; idiot reporter for the Oregonian and Mark Katches, the editor; Benton Co.
We love OSP officers, anyways.
Former OSU nukie here. Atmos is 100% right.
Yep. Good for OSP, gave Ray the big fat finger.
Maybe they can hire antifa to provide campus security. More in line with their wokeness.
Oh brother, talk about over reaction. Poor little OSP got their feelers hurt when someone questioned their actions.
Instead of giving someone a warning and sending her on her way, he’s going to be a bad ass and “not feel like’ giving her a warning.
Six cops to control a little girl, maybe 90 pounds, that was already in handcuffs? GTFO
Really? how hard is it to follow the law and be polite? She broke a law, be an adult and own up to it instead of blaming race gender etc. As soon as she said she wouldnt talk that cop had I right to detain her, she also had the right to not give him any info either, but what does that accomplish? Nothing but her newly found race baiting street cred.
Plead the 5th!
You are not required to have ID riding a bike.
On that street most cars go down the center. It is narrow with no stripe and parking on both sides.
Per her twitter she’s also a theater minor. She’s certainly looking like quite the actress.
I agree that u dub is a poor matchup for us. However, no game seems totally hopeless.
Hey, we struggled with Carroll College last night. Led by 1 at halftime.
Carroll College could be a signature win if they get into the tourney this year. If they expand the field to 200 we have a really good chance.
Beavs ended up winning 79-60, but shot 50% from the foul line…..16-32…ouch! I had to find the stats on the Carroll College website.
Is there something about the foul line at Gill that makes our teams horrible at FT’s? It seems like we’ve been below average in that department every year for the last 20 years.
My cuz John played PG for Carroll back in the day.
Another baseball commit. Aussie, Travis Bazzana.
Again, i dont know anything about him, so hopefully somebody else here can share some info.

Don’t call me Chiquita.
Will be official visiting OSU, but not till after the football season is over.
https://247sports.com/player/jequari-godfrey-89896/
Does this offer mean we miss out on Alton or Wright? Maybe there are plans for one of these CBs to play more safety?
I still think we land Julian and Wright, in time.
We’ were already going to be extremely thin at CB and Safety next year but then Myles Green Richards retired and Whetzel and Hicks-Onu left the team. We need several players to re-stock those positions.
Kind of an addition-by-subtraction situation with those two but yea they need some bodies.
I retweeted on twitter but figured I would share it here for the non-twitter crowd.
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/week-9-in-pac-12-football-utah-rolls-on-oregon-rallies/id1478759377?i=1000454388549
Wait nice do you run beav recruiting?
Yep.
Trump beat Hillary?
To a bloody pulp….
We landed on the moon?
Except for receiving 3,000,000 less votes. By that measure the Beavers are undefeated this year. We don’t need no stinking scoreboard.
Yeah we should just let New York and California make all the decisions for the country.
You really are a shit stirrer, aren’t you Beavergopher? :-)
Jack is surely no longer with us. He could smell this post from the other side of our galaxy.
No… it’s much better to let North Dakota and Wyoming run the show. Throwback to the days of slavery. Time for it to go.
There is a method to change the rules and it has been used before.
I only meant it as a sarcastic response to NuclearBeaver not knowing that Nicebeaver ran the ra-crutin’ site.
Guess I should have gone with the moon landing. Bill got it.
I did something similar a few months ago. What was meant as a joke ended up starting a spirited skirmish
California and New York think they should run the show and idiots like you agree. North Dakota and Wyoming just want to have a say. If you want another civil war you can try to force it. But you don’t want another civil war as much as you think you do.
Back away from the bottle.
Can’t make an argument so you go straight to an insult.
Bitch’s way.
No…. just don’t want to get involved in long boring, pointless political argument. And by the way, you might notice that you first broke out the “idiots” reference. So just STFU.
I used idiots in the course of making a valid point. You don’t have a point other than “orange man bad”, and now you make some pathetic attempt at internet high ground.
Bitch ass idiot.
Punting…… can’t fix stupid.
You should have just forfeited instead of running your ignorant suck in the first place.
WFO, Bad Religion is on the latest “Rig Rundown” video. Are those your dudes or is it Social Distortion?
Both. Been fans of both bands since the mid 80s.
Brian Baker was actually my inspiration for getting a set of DiMarzio Super Distortions for my Les Paul. Even though he plays P90s now he played SDs forever.
Ah then check it out. It’s on premier guitar, and it was a good one.
That was pretty cool. Brian Baker has changed his rig completely in the last 10 years. He was always Les Paul with SuperD in to a Mesa. He also would eliminate the tone control on the bridge pickup. I’m not surprised that he’s slowly leaning back toward the humbucker.
Also not surprised that he’s using the Duncan Custom bridge. That’s what Eric Melvin runs and his tone is awesome.
Those Rig Rundowns are always a lot of fun.
Or he became a cam-whore errrrr online adult entertainer (hey someone had to say it)
Isn’t that what my second to last sentence says??
I interpreted that as him partaking in such entertainment
Ah.
Well I think we’ve concluded Jack is either in purgatory, jail, or on cam whores.
I’d pay not to see those videos of jack
Jack would be dressed up as Pelosi teaching his orange man effigy a lesson on foreign object policy.
I’d pay not to have read that
Angry… don’t want to pry and if you’re not interesting in publicizing, I understand, but any news on your brother?
He had a cyst on both his kidney and pancreas. Those samples are with pathology now to test for cancer. From what we read, there is a 2% chance a cyst is cancerous, so the percentages are good, but until he is out of woods I don’t want to rejoice. It still could go south if he’s one of the unlucky 2%. He’s still having pain/symptoms as well so we’re not sure what is going on. Thanks, buddy.
Thanks… fingers crossed.
Firefox updated two days ago, and since then the Twitter feed is gone for me.
Anyone else having this issue? It’s something with their permissions but unable to figure it out so far.
I don’t see Twitter feed too.
Firefox and post (their) update?
I use Safari (Apple)
Interesting on my phone/safari it shows.
Are you on phone or desktop? If desktop see if there are permissions in the URL bar or somewhere else to allow 3rd party cookies.
Phone
It’s showing up on the front page in Chrome.
Firefox up to date, laptop. Twitter feed gone.
Works now, 5 hours after my first post.
angry, did you do something to fix??
EDIT, 1 hour later: logged out and when I returned the twitter feed didn’t appear. I didn’t change any setting in the meantime.
I see the Twitter feed now. ( Safari)
I don’t update Firefox any longer, too many bad issues. The un-updated version still works very well.
Will need to pickup in other areas.
https://stats.pac-12.com/sports/fball/2019-20/teams?sort=rezsp&r=1&pos=red
There are signs of progress. Would be good to eliminate the “administrative” penalties as well. Play clean, don’t cause your own problems.
New Mexico bowl dropped it’s sponsor because the sponsor didn’t actually exist. Oops!
Maybe we(AB) could sponsor. Throw in a few bars of soap and some pettiebonehead memorabilia?
Tex, hopefully you got the soap? Meant to write you but got sidetracked. I’d let the pine tar sit another week before using. When it’s moderate to light brown it’s ready to use. The lavender is ready to go.
I have it. Couldn’t wait. Been using the pine tar all week. It’s great
I’m guessing your memorabilia is as boring as your offense!
Are you ever going to contribute something to this site other than this played out pathetic garbage?
Eggers up with a visit with JS and some thoughtful comments. The piece includes a 14 minute embedded podcast.
For at least the third time, Smith indicates that he isn’t adverse to an occasional interception:
“We’re not going into games saying, ‘Don’t throw picks.’ We want to be aggressive…”
Eggers gives kudos to Tibs and Michalzcik.

Best of Both Worlds?
Only 6 degenerates picked Colorado in the CBS poll, SC wins but doesn’t cover the spread.
Ucks already may be looking past WSU with SC following. Would it have mattered if SC lost tonight?
I just want the Quacks to lose one more game, so the annoying “natty talk” is silenced. I swear Knight sends “gifts” to the national media to keep the conversation alive until the last possible second.
I would love to be the team that beats them.
ERA stands at .54
http://mlb.mlb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?gid=2019_10_24_mazwin_mocwin_1&t=g_box&sid=l132
High pitch count, they should of pulled him the inning before. This team is just like his last team, they keep him in until his arm falls off. His pitching reminds me of his games against LSU. Battling, but not sharp
I figured out the Twitter feed issue. It’s the adblock plus plugin interfering. If you can go in there and under “whitelists” just ad angrybeavs.com
That’s correct. I could change that but the majority of people who answered that question seemed to like it this way.
Yup, perfectly fine.
KSU ahead of Oklahoma 48-30 with about 12 minutes left. Quack fans are going to be hyped unless The Pirate can shut them up later today.
Too bad Wazzu is a joke this year
Offense is looking good, Oregon looks pretty mediocre.
Wait, I thought #TPB said that Frost would win a national championship in his second year?
Frosty throwing players under the bus, on big red overreaction…classic, I wonder if there is any other good players that might want transfer to beavs, another Roberts would be great
UCLA is currently bitch-slapping Arizona! Are we glad we played against the Bruins backup QB?
Asu that is. They are looking more and more beatable. Is give us a fair shot against them mid November.
I hadn’t watched ASU yet this year but I thought they had a couple of decent wins. They look remarkably pedestrian. Certainly beatable.
Brilliant comment Miss WFO. You are indeed a genius. Truly insightful how do you do it?
Says the fucking dicksuck whose entire presence on this site is a cringe worthy weak ass schtick that has never and will never be the slightest bit funny.
Go fuck yourself you butthurt little bitch.
Walked right into that one…. proving my point.
“I hadn’t watched ASU yet this year…
…. They look remarkably pedestrian.”
Hmmm
What’s your point?
It’s not a brilliant comment or insightful
Oh no, what will I do now? The butthurt libtards on the football blog don’t think I’m brilliant or insightful.
Trump is still your president. I can hear the lib tears raining down on the keyboard from here.
I should adopt some useless nonsensical former coach persona, then maybe I’ll be taken seriously around here.
Someone ate too many paint chips as a kid…
I’ll stand over here while you keep digging that hole. You are truly one “AngryBeav.” It must be tough to live with all that hostility.
Will give it a rest today, but it’s nice to know that, like a cat and a laser pen, your’e easily available for a little fun.
Ha.
And right on que. You are so predictable. Maybe change your name to WTF?
Not nearly as predictable as you getting sand in your vagina when someone mentions Trump.
Hopefully someone can help you figure out which bathroom to use so you can start getting it flushed out.
Agree pettibonehead is a lame ass name that’s not funny. Then we have to see his shitty comments that he thinks are funny along the lines of “I’ll donate autographed footballs or some dumbshit. Who the fuck are you to talk shit you lame ass dirtbag?
yeah, forgot the State part of that one…
I think BeaverGopher gets to hang on to his axe this year. I guess rowing the boat works.
Who would down vote that?
Debbie Downvoter. She’s always been lurking here.
Cougs outplaying ucks, Herbert not living up to his publicity (whats new?).
30 minutes to go but with PAC zebras it could take over 2 hours!
Big boy pants getting beat down by AF,
Keep, dive, pitch never
Looked so good as versus
”hired wrong guys” mauve nose
Hire Troy Calhoun?
Ducks going down.
Maybe not.
Cougs Cougin’ it with soft zone D.
WSU’s defense is almost as bad as the P12 officiating in that game. What a train wreck.
Cougar offense looks scary. I don’t have much confidence in our ability to slow them down.
Cheaters always win, it seems. That has to be the worst axiom.
First they should have kicked it out the back of the end zone.
Then soft D let’s them march down the field.
Very WSU.
Oregon looked sloppy in several ways (bad clock management, stupid penalties, etc) WSU’s D bailed them out tonight.
I still see them losing to someone before the championship game.
I kind of want to see hole play Utah. Utah’s D is really clamping down.
Agree on wanting to see that match up…and glad to see you relaxed a little.
Coug’d.
Damn
Beavs definitely have the offense to score on the Ducks..
Yeah. Herbert and Verdell will beat the Beavs. Those two are awful matchups. Verdell is so fast.
Verdell is a very physical runner. So is that Borghi kid from Wazzu. Rather nervous about those matchups.
Oregon’s OL looked like ours under GA. They’re really good run blockers, but look vulnerable in pass protection. WSU was getting decent pressure only rushing 3 or 4.
WFO looks terrible in this thread.
WFO gives zero fucks about your opinion.
The fun part is that I’m not even a Trumper in real life. It’s just so entertaining to watch the Hillary crew hyperventilate and stomp their feet and cry this far past the election. I just can’t help myself.
Can’t? Or choose not to..l:-)
Haha valid question.
You care ’cause you responded. I’m a Trumper, and your vitriol is uncomfortable. Raging on “libtards” was fun for a month in ’16. Having that rage three years later is disturbing.
I get it. This country is full of Trumpers that will stare at their shoes and waddle away while some antifa puke screams in an old lady’s face.
Do your thing, chicken wing. We’re not all the same. Yay America.
Referring to yourself/himself in the third person. Never a good sign. This stopped being about Trump a long time ago. Degenerated into a strange case of just plain odd angry, abusive behavior. Curious to watch the downward spiral.
BG mentioned Trump and you couldn’t control yourself.
That’s what started this.
Matt Moore interview https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2019/10/27/get-know-matt-moore-chiefs-sunday-replacement-patrick-mahomes/%3foutputType=amp
WSU has a couple of Flailbackers out there. That long haired guy was in decent position a couple of times and completely Pankey whiffed.
Pause the video at 2:04 and you will see the mayhem that WSU defense caused on themselves.
let me guess…down vote because it’s too wordy?
Pettibonehead is hilarious and the username is genius. Get over yourselves and get a room, you two.
If it’s nothing special, make a Pettibone 2.0 account and try to write anything half as funny.
Or just say something funny with your account since you’re a stable comedic genius with incredible, high standard humor.
It started farther up.
That’s what she said^^^
WFO, thank you for using Farther and not Further…although, in this case, you could have stated, “Angry’s remarking further on a comment from farther up on the blog.” Just for those who need a grammar lesson on the difference between Further and Farther.
I do
Do you guys realize there are places to talk about politics? The internet is full of shit posting places to be dicks and not listen. Maybe we can keep this place about football and leave that dumpster fire to 4chan, Twitter and Facebook.
Nuclear, I’m assuming you’re new and didn’t have to slog through Jack’s N bomb tirades and self answering political shit posting.
This crap comes and goes around here.
Yeah I checked in rarely over the last 5 years without an account. I was a regular on the scout.com forums a decade ago.
Guess I don’t see the draw of unleashing vitriol on fellow fans over subjects that have nothing to do with the focus of the blog.
Guess it’s still not as annoying as Froggie from TCU
Let me guess, he’s written you a check so you’re kissing his ass. If you seriously find his schtick funny, you need to get out more.
It’s fucking stupid. It may have been mildly amusing one time, but now years later it’s just played out and stale.
But it’s your party, you can cry if you want to.
It’s a Beaver eat beaver world.
Go Beavs! Undefeated two weekends in a row. Anyone hear about the new golf commit? Five star guy with a great offer sheet.
(Just trying to change the subject)
Wouldn’t that be a 5 BALL guy?
Must be hard to find underwear that fits.
OSU Arizona over/under of 73 is the highest of any game in the country next week. Beavs are 7 pt dogs which seems pretty generous to ariz.
Beavs dropped 2 spots in the SP+ rankings to #70 but they are just ahead of #71 Stanford, #72 Cal, #73 Colorado.
Arizona is #62, UCLA is #60
Arizona’s D is ranked lower than ours.
Why are the ducks ahead of Utah in the human polls? SP+ has Utah #7, ducks at #14.
Correction, Utah is #9 in SP+
Why are the ducks ahead of Utah in the human polls?
SWOOOSH…………
I’ll take money for $500, Alex.
Good one WTF… Highly creative and original. I’m rolling on the floor!
If the media tries really hard, they can convince the nation that the Quacks are a playoff team.
Quacks have a better loss
Because the voters don’t actually watch Pac-12 games
I agree, individual sports need more “parody.” : )
NCAA has become a parody of competition on its own though.
LOL
Spellcheck? Benefit of the doubt.
Oh why can there not be more PARITY between the thoughts of my dyslexic brain and the execution of my arthritic hands while jabbing away at my smart phone. Woe to me and my shamed ancestors.
Of course since my brain and body are so messed up maybe typos are a great example of parity in this parody of a body.
https://twitter.com/BeaverMSoccer/status/1188608819284172800 mens team won, first time at ucla,
zona fires dc yates,
Usually Arizona coaches get fired after they play the Beavs not before.
Their new DC Chuck Cecil would have gotten ejected from every game he ever played if the spearing rules were enforced then
They also fired their LB coach John Rushing who was on Anderpants staff here in 2017
Matt Moore has 196 yds passing at halftime
Pack wins and Moore plays well……..win, win.
The placement and arc Moore put on that TD pass, right before he got shoved by a defender, was great. The kind of play OSU has been missing since he left.
I remember in the big upset USC game where he threw (what I think was) an impromptu shovel pass right before he got hit and created a play with positive yardage.

Read that Cooks left the Ram’s game in Q1 with a concussion. That guy might want to think about retiring early, I think he’s had a few good ones(?).
He needs to retire IMO. Dude has been concussed at least two or three times going into last year and they are becoming more and more frequent.
