  1. When the contract with Learfield sports ends, will the Beavs save more money? That seems like a bad contract, but I don’t know the details. What year does it end?

  2. The Grambling pitcher is horrible. Beavs score two without a hit. But Beaver batters looked just as hapless save for a foul liner by Harrison.

    • Seeing the Stanford and Cal games a bit, it’s pretty noticeable how much quicker Stanford and Cal are compared to the Beavs. If they run into a pretty quick team early in the NCAAs I could see them losing

      • When the Lady Beavs play their game of Hamblin blocking shots + making 3s, they are pretty much unbeatable, no matter the speed of the other team. Problem vs Stanford is the 3s weren’t falling. Early in this game they couldn’t make shots. They’re heating up now, so they’ll probably win. But they’re vulnerable like all teams that live and die with 3. Hamblin misses a surprisingly number of point blank layups..I’d say she’s move valuable on D than offense.

          • Ruth has a nice move where she gets the ball in the paint with her back to the rim, then turns and shoots it from seven or eight feet. She makes a lot of those. She also seems to make her few shots from just outside the key.

She misses a few more layups, just to make up for it.

  3. Two errors in the inning and a ground ball that went off the third base bag. Beavers pitchers didn’t get a whole lot of help that inning. 16-3 Beavers after 7 1/2

  4. Another slow start, but Beavs have responded well.

Got in a few questions to Helfrich the other night, he blew off most people but having known him my entire life, he gave me a few serious answers. Will post my questions and answers tomorrow or Monday.

  5. Lady Beavs roll past Cal! Outright Pac-12 conference champions! 73-55 final

    15/26 on 3 pt FG’s.

Whiskey called the ladies winning the pac-12 back in December. I’ll try not to injure myself patting my back.

    • I’m not confident in Eckert. I know he had good JC stats, but he’s been iffy in past starts and Grambling is pretty terrible…

Nice fielding there though to turn two. I think the Beavs need Luke H to step up ASAP and then Eckert can be long relief. Not sure what the hell is wrong with Luke H.

    • Harrison giving Ice the game off. Clark at 1b. Beavs have the tying run out at the plate by a mile. The base runner didn’t even try sliding. Weird play. Shouldn’t have been waved home in my opinion.

    • Their entire team is garbage. I’m sure Casey ripped his team a new one after last night. They had no business allowing Grambling back in that game

  6. 1 & 3 with nobody out and Eckert gets a comebacker and looks the runner back, goes to 2b and on to 1b for the DP. After a BB the Beavs get the runner hung up between 1st & 2nd and throw the runner out at the plate. Beavs with 3 errors in 3 innings.

  7. Home from Corvallis with a few observations:
–Gabby Hanson had a heck of a game, key shots and RB’s; and, FWIW, I too think she is prettier than Siegner
-The comments above about Ruth are spot on, she defends well but seems to miss lots of shots. She isn’t, by nature, an aggressive person and it shows in her tentative nature when she gets the ball.
-Deven Hunter is such a brawler, doesn’t get enough recognition.
-Slow starts have become too much of a habit; 3 pointers by Sydney and Jamie are the main means of overcoming them. Not a situation to be counted upon in the NCAA’s. I’d love to see the habit broken!

-Eckert fields his position well, the sequence described above by steveEbeaver at 5:17 was a thing of beauty to see in person.
-Eckert put in a good day, 108 pitches and the majority of contact was kept on the ground, not saying he should be part of the rotation, but he did good vs this level of competition and gets my vote for long relief.
-Jansen spent plenty of time on the pine after his baserunning foolishness Friday. Except for Gretler, the baserunning needs improvement all around.
-Rasmussen, what can ya say?…….strong, fast, throws strikes. He’s a bright spot.
    -Whatever happened to “small ball”?

-Bonus, in case you wondered, Mandy removed her heels when she went up the ladder for her share of the net. She’s easy on the eyes, but not convinced she is #1 given the advantage she has vs gals in uniform and w/o makeup.

Who gets your vote, old beav?

      • I actually think Ruth cleans up pretty well. But, if I only get one choice, I’ll go with Gabby.
BTW, ever notice how close-set Samantha’s eyes seem to be?

They all have their own beautiful spirit and I bet there are some sweet personalities in the group. This team is fun to follow on so many levels.

        • Yeah, I’m not big into those kind of rankings. That’s like trying to rank tiramisu, sweet tea, Mario games, and a silver dollar

  8. It was damn near magical being in Gill, I won’t even lie, I almost broke into tears. I’ve been watching every home game this year, and to watch them finally get this accomplishment all to themselves. The sun had a great backdrop into the windows into our lil cathedral of athletics. Of course, they changed it in the 2nd half because Cal was complaining. How are Californians complaining about some sun?

Anyway, I’m glad that Syd decided to reload that banana clip attached to her shoulder. Shot 7-9 from deep, just like I know she could. Ali hitting that three with a minute left was so perfect. She still needs to beat Stanford in her career. A second chance in the tournament is definitely warranted.

Can’t wait to see these ladies in Gill for the first and second rounds of the NCAAs.

    • i really hope the momentum continues for the Beav sports that are doing great and that it comes together for those in transition. I think OSU could have a pretty impressive athletic program from A to Z in a couple of years. It’s better that a lot of people think as it stands.
